Overall, this place was a major letdown for the first time every eating at one of these. First off, the service is incredibly slow even though the place was not busy. The place is dirty and smells. The concept of cleaning does not appear to be part of their daily protocol. The fries are pathetic. The milkshakes are highly overrated because they are very average at best. The shining item that prevented this place from getting a "1" star was the burger. The burger was actually very tasty and juicy. I few simple changes, and this place would actually be worthy of 3 or 4 stars.

I've even gone through the drive thru on certain days when I guess the big manager isn't they're talking about how they got sour. I don't got nothing against marijuana but that's really unprofessional. Worst service ever. Food is excellent when it is actually cooked right then and there, but my god - they need to fire the entire staff and hire some competent people with a little sense of urgency. It's unacceptable to wait in a drive thru for 45 minutes for a single meal. Steak N' Shake, you need to implement some kind of controls over your drive thru. Yes, we expect to wait for freshly made, delicious burgers - but there's no logical explanation to leave a person waiting for 45 minutes, only to give them a cold burger and a half-melted shake. Yes, this actually happened. I even was asked to pull around and park out front and sat there for 20 minutes until I got out of my car, went inside, and waited another 15. It's really sad that the manager actually handed me the shakes that were made about 40 minutes prior, expecting me to take them as is. I wish their management would see their Yelp reviews and make a change!

It took 35 minutes to get three shakes via the drive thru! The only reason I waited was because I remember the shakes were so good. Well, sorry to say, but not anymore. My son ordered a peanut butter cup shake and he said it tasted like a vanilla shake with peanut butter cup crumbs on top of the shake. The other two shakes were: chocolate and Hershey's dark chocolate. Couldn't figure out which one was which but only one tasted like chocolate. The other one none of us could figure out what it tasted like and we ended up throwing it away. Horrible!

Very terrible service. I grabbed my own menu because no one was there to hand me one as I walked in. I sat my self down because no one was there to point me where to sit. Wasn't a hard choice because EVERY OTHER TABLE WAS NOT BUSSED. Cups, half eaten burgers, dirty napkins. At least 75% of the tables were like that. Sat down waiting 20 minutes just to have the server come by and ask what we wanted. Another 20 minutes for me to remind the server about the water I asked for. Another 20 minutes to remind the server about my food which he hasn't put in yet, but hey finally my shake came out... Another 20 minutes until I actually got my food which looked NOTHING like the photo. 5 minutes until I didn't want to touch my food anymore. Paid for this garbage and left. Only good thing about this place was the shake, that I will say was really good!... I was rating this 1 star but just for the sake of the shake, it'll get two stars.

I pretty much hate everything about Steak'n Shake. Why all the stars then? Well, they make a really good burger. They are real thin so one should get two or three patties. Even with three patties the burgers are overly big. Service here is adequate, the decor sucks unless you are 70 plus years old and miss the 50s. I'm not a huge fan of the fries, but they are OK I guess. I've never had a shake there, but I would guess they are pretty good.

My boyfriend and I used to have an obsession with steak and shake. Lately, our visits have been much less frequent. There service lately has been beyond slacking. The restaurant doesn't even have to be full for the service to be slow. The waiter or waitresses seem over worked and over stressed, making them want to do their jobs less and less. Half the time our food takes so long that it either comes out cold or the wrong order completely. When you let them know your order was wrong they do correct it or give you something complimentary, but it doesn't stop the disappointment knowing that this restaurant used to be my favorite spot. They certainly need to hire more people. If they had a larger staff then maybe their tables would be cleaned, allowing them to sit the entire restaurant to capacity, rather than having people leave because they no longer want to wait. My worst experience there was having to wait 2 hours to even get my drinks, by the time my food got there we were getting ready to walk out the door. The waiter was so upset that he DEMANDED that we pay for the meal since it had already been made. Needless to say we spoke to the manager. Got a complementary meal, because it was coming out of our waiters check. He was so upset he threw a tantrum and started breaking plates in the back of the kitchen. Haven't seen him there since.

Greasy! OMG, was it greasy! The chocolate shake, though - a perfect score! Too bad it's not the only thing on the menu. I had the Cheddar double - don't you make the same mistake! Instead, opt for the (usually) safe and satisfying Frisco Melt. I don't know, maybe I'm spoiled with Shake Shack, but I'm just not feeling the burgers or fries at Steak 'n Shake.

She was the only server at 2 am, with about 5 big tables, what the hell is that? The food is good but not great. The best thing on the menu is the Frisco Melt. The cheese fry's are meh. The service is the worse ever. I've gone in there expecting something different every time and every time i'm disappointed. I was there on a Friday night. There were probably 10 other people in the store at the time. Not packed or busy. It took the server 15 min to see us to get our order. It took him 15 more minutes to get the drinks then 10 more minutes after that to get the food. We asked for shakes as well. My girlfriend and I both like thick shakes. We asked for them to be thick. When we got the shakes, they were almost as if the ice cream was melted when they put it in the cup and just added milk. It was terrible. We waited a total 30 min from when we were seated to just get drinks, and 40 min to get food. Service is terrible.

Steak n Shake.... There are things I love, and things that I don't quite like. For starters, there ARE reasons to come here. And these reasons keep me going back, year after year. 1. skinny fries - while they are skinny, they won't keep you skinny. But they sure are tasty! 2. shakes - they constantly update and change them, from malt to cheesecake to turtle sundae shake, I can't say no when the craving comes. 3. sit down fast-food - sometimes you want a cheap meal with the diner experience. This includes some entertainment at times, like our last visit, with the waitresses bickering about who was helping more, as well as being short staffed and watching them run around crazily. 4. The burgers are quite yummy from what I recall, my favorite was the Frisco Melt. Now, being a vegetarian, I opted for the grilled cheese with frisco sauce and added mushrooms - very, very accomodating. I like. So no it isn't healthy, no it isn't the ideal romantic dinner date, but the bill will make you happy, and the food will please you enough.

I thought she wasn't so suppose to say that but instead I had to ask her again. Walking into the restaurant, from the outside it looks very deceiving it looks like a nice family social gathering with beautiful decor in the inside, BULL**** once you walk in totally different.. The floor is nasty, sticky and dirty, the people that dine in there... they were drunk as we were but they were acting very trashy and stank like crap. I mean they were only 3 tables being occupied and it took us 10 minutes just to get the menu, and our drinks. The table was nasty and smelled like old rag, the menu had smudges of soda, and milk shake. The server finally came to us and she was cool .. I give them that, you can tell she was tired and pissed.. I DON'T BLAME HER with the douche-bags that were in there making a mess and eating like pigs. So anyways we ordered our food... and please TRUST ME WHEN I TELL YOU IT WAS BAD ... AND WHEN I MEAN BAD .... I MEAN BAD. The 3D Burger Melt looked like a heart attack, looking at our food gave me heart palpitations... my friends ordered chocolate brownie milk shake i believe... my God.. that thing was so high in sugar, and chocolate that if anyone that was diabetic ate that would immediately go into a shock. I took one scoop of ice cream and it was like a competition in taste between sugar and chocolate.. I knew this place was junk food central so i tried to watch what i ate.. so i ordered the Spicy Chicken Sandwich and took of the bread.. the chicken wasn't spicy... at ALL in matter of fact.. it was but like a small piece of the chicken was spicy, the french fries were stale .. nasty stale... The following all 5 of my friends that went with me to eat here reported some type of nausea, diarrhea, and dizziness lol.. Do I recommend this place... It depends on who the person is. If you love eating nasty junk food, and your body has the metabolism some of us wish we had that you can eat a horse and still not gain a pound.. then YES come here and eat everything you want. But if you're like me, that if you so much eat a burger you can 10lbs, or like those who are watching their figure and health... noooo way... stay AWAY go to the 7-11 across the street and BUY A BANANA...

Every time we go the same scenario plays out: 20 employees in the back. Clearly, most of them see the line waiting to be seated but not a soul greets customers or cleans a table right away. I'm going with a 4-star rating here for the price point on the steak burgers. They have plenty if good deals for under $4.00. The burgers are "steak" ones as are very thin, so you will need to order a double or triple(both under $4.00). They are alittle greasy, but good taste and they make them to order, so they are fresh. They come with fries, but the thin ones which are good too. They just added a whole new special burger menu that has some of the trendy options like the burger joints. I ordered the Garlic one and it was really great, it comes with garlic butter spread and a sprinkle of garlic salt on the top bun. They have a wide verity of milkshakes and are very good as well. The Managers are very prompt and want to make sure you had a good experience.

Similar to Johnny Rockets, this restaurant seems to attract a younger crowd of undertipping high school teens who like to put condiments in each others drinks when one gets up to use the restroom, and leave once they've done a fine job in spilling and smearing everything they ordered all over the table. The only reason I'm generously giving them 3 stars is because the milkshakes are delicious. They have a wide variety of flavors (Chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, banana, ,mint, cookies & cream, peanut butter, Cookie dough, M&M's,....etc) If you're lucky and theres no one in the drive thru, then God loves you. We're regulars there, let me start with that. This is the only Steak n' Shake near us and when my husband or son gets the urge, we gotta go. It's usually through the drive-thru and that's because I'm sick and tired of going there and getting stuck with the world's WORST manager. I'm not sure what his name is, but you can't miss him; think "younger version of Crypt-Keeper" and you've got it. He's rude, ignores customers and treats the staff not-so-great. We were there last Sunday and if I would have known he was there, I would have walked out. Our server, Lorelei, should be the manager, NOT HIM! Tables left filthy for the entire hour we were there; people waiting to be seated bunching up by the door; not enough menus to go around (really?? Please!); he's standing there, yelling at the cooks (we could hear from our table). Wrong orders coming out, servers arguing with each other and it all boils down to this man's horrendous leadership abilities. It's unexcusable to sit and wait for over an hour for burgers and salads. The drinks and my son's shake took 20 minutes alone to get to the table. The restaurant was nowhere near full capacity (couldn't be, with all those nasty tables that needed to be cleaned up). Oh, but if you happen to be Mr. Personality's friend...you get seated and served at the counter IMMEDIATELY (we saw that on a previous occasion, not this one). Meanwhile, if you're NOT a close, personal friend of Mr. Wonderful, sit there and wait. It's happened to us before when our party was the only one in the place. Not kidding..we were the ONLY table and we ended up having to leave because all the server would say was "it's almost ready." Man, I feel sorry for the waiters/waitresses when that guy is there!! Such a totally different place when the other manager is there; not even the same restaurant, it seems! I'm not sure what his name is, but he is a very pleasant man. He has a mustache and a wonderful Jamaican accent. The place runs like clockwork when he's there. So if you want better food, quicker, less stressed out servers, do yourself a favor: check out who's managing the place when you walk in. If it's a smiling, really friendly black guy with a killer Jamaican accent, go for it. If you're greeted (or ignored) by the Grim Reaper's little brother, run screaming to another burger place. ANY burger place will be better than this one if that guy's in charge...

Steak 'n Shake has never let me down when it is extremely late and I need some place to go. I usually head over after a movie at the Regal in Kendall, or when I get in the mood for a glorious shake. I've probably visited this place about 30+ times, and never have I had a horrible experience. Yes, sometimes the service might be a bit slow, but it is the wee hours of the morning, or did you forget? Their Frisco melt is a favorite of mine, which is a double patty burger on toast bread, grilled and served with Frisco sauce (think a sweeter Thousand Island sauce). They offer many sides. Fries, onion rings, baked beans, chili, cottage cheese, side salads... the list might go on. Some of these cost extra with your meal, which usually comes with fries already. You can also stick with a classic single, double, or triple cheeseburger, all of which cost $3.99, and come with fries. Like I said, it isn't the best food/burger joint in all of Miami, but when you need a fix, and it is after 12AM, you can depend on Steak 'n Shake to satisfy your craving. Be wary of the yellow pepper sauce. Your mouth may catch fire.

The service at this Steak 'n Shake was probably the best I've had at any! Our server was very friendly, attentive and personable. She realized a mistake before even setting the food on the table and was quick to fix it. Not all service was great there though, I was evesdropping (I didn't have to try too hard though, it was pretty public!) on a conversation between a young hostess and her friends that I would have rather not heard...especially over my meal. Speaking of my meal...the fries are one of the signature sides and after raving about them to my steak 'n shake virgin friend, I was a bit disappointed in their pale color and cold temperature! Kids eat free Saturdays so of course it's a mad house! That being said the service was HORRIBLE!!!!!!! We tried several times to add to our order and it was nearly impossible! I've gone to Steak 'n Shake over 30 times and I've always had a wonderful experience. I love the atmosphere of the place and the waiters are nice and courteous. The service is usually fast (10 to 15 minutes) and I find everything on the menu to be delicious. It's currently one of my favorite places to eat right now considering it's also very cheap. Update: The last few times I've been here, I've noticed they seem to have cut back on staff. This has lead to an increase in wait times, dirtier tables, and an overall drop in service. One time, we had to wait almost 15 minutes just for water. These few unfortunate incidents compel me drop a star. The food however, is still delicious and very affordable.

I've been a steak n' shake eater my whole life. Over the years the quality of most chains has gone down, especially the more they expand. As for Steal n' Shake, I still find the quality of their fast food quite high and tasty. Nowhere else can I get a delicious handspun Oreo milkshake, skinny fries and a steakburger flay and crispy with the bun slightly toasted on the grill. As for service, this particular establishment has had it's ups and downs, but I don't have any major complaints. Ps- when I am in town (I currently don't live in Miami), I'll sometimes drive 15 miles just to come here.

I really want to love Steak and Shake...but there is something about a place that I have to pay extra to get fries with my burger. That should just be a standard thing that comes with your burger. The burgers here are pretty good, not stellar, but good. I like the Monte Cristo sandwich that they have. The shakes that they have here are all delicious, I can't remember ever having one that I didn't like. I've dropped in for breakfast a couple of times and it was pretty good. The biscuits and gravy were quite tastey. They are a little bit on the pricey side when you actually take a look at what you get. I think I would be better off going to some fast food burger joint and having a meal with a milkshake there and it will be half the price.

I've tried this place twice, for a burger and for chicken fingers part of their 4 for under $4 meals (not including taxes) The drive through takes forever and the quality isn't good enough to not bunch in fast food. Its not hard to crack an egg and make some toast. -They've messed up our check- and fought us on it -They've messed up our order- and fought us on it. The food is acceptable but nothing fantastic. I can get a burger at the golden arches and be equally satisfied for cheaper. If you like cheese fries, i suggest to pass on them here, unless you like fake cheese spread on your fries. The only thing going for this steak n shake (and what saved it from 1 star despair) is that is has a drive through and the only thing i get from the drive through is a milk shake and that they have never messed up, even with their bazillion flavors/makes/models of shakes. They will make it extra thick if requested, but be careful because it is really thick! OH and speaking of flavors of shakes...if you like candy banana flavor (or as i like to call it fake banana flavor) then you would love their banana shake if not don't try it. Cookie dough is completely recommended though!

Hadn't been to a steak and shake in 2 years and this place was a huge let down. For lunch the fries were old and unsalted, the frisco was extremely over buttered( I like greasy food but this was ten times that of the bottom of a tub of movie theater popcorn). Got a chocolate shake that reminded me of cleaning erasers outside the classroom in grade school. Won't ever go back to this S&S.

Horrible!!!! I am probably the easiest person to keep satisfied yet these guys found a way to disappoint me. Here it goes... I get there and I am seated right away. The restaurant was full so I expected a wait. When we were sat it literally took 25 minutes for someone to take our order. Finally the came around took our order and that was it for another 15 min. When our waiter finally came with the drinks he said that he didn't know what drinks we ordered. So I repeated it to him then hen uts down a drink in front of me and tells me to try it because he doesn't know if he poured root beer or the diet Coke I asked for. I went ahead and tried it and of course it was root beer. It then took him another 10 min. To bring my diet coke. And of course I had that nasty root beer taste in my mouth. After my drink was finally right. It took another half hour to get our food. Which we inhaled because we got there hungry and by the time the food got there were starving. Ohhh and did I forget to mention that the waiter also almost gave our food to another table and never refilled our drinks. I understand a wait is expected but an hour and a half for food is insane... The food was good but was not worth the wait. By far the woes steak and shake experience I've ever had.

Oh well, i find myself here once again after much begging and persuasion from my daughters. To start, There seems to be a couple more additions to the menu than my last time here . My kiddo ordered the guacamole chicken sandwich and liked it. I got the sliders and this time around they were not greasy:). The Fries were thin,crispy and hot. We skipped shakes ( a diet thing) and my kiddos were surprised at the variety of alternate selection ( they had coke zero with a shot of vanilla. The downside here was our waiter of the day... She seemed ditzy... First she almost skipped us to be seated ( I was like ummm excuse me I was here first, waiting). Maybe it was the ending of her shift, she is new, hmmm don't know . Our food was delivered before our drinks ( odd) , no offsets for refills nor water ......when we ended our meal and had to hunt her down for a takeout box. Overall the food was better this time around and I guess services depends on your luck. Prices are friendly to the pocket and the place itself was clean and organized. Parking is private lot accessible and they have a drive thru ( never used it:/) . It's very casual, kid friendly environment .

so, its 1am and my dad wants a milk shake but, not just any milkshake he wants one from stake n shake. so, me being a good daughter say yes old man i will go get you your damn shake lol but, of course i was thinking to myself yeaaaaa I'm hungry so, i might as well go get the old man his vanilla shake and get myself something as well. so, i got my self a bacon cheeseburger, fries, and a coke. and let me tell you that it was all disgusting! the burger had so much grease that it looked like the krusty the clown burger from the Simpson's. meaning that you could see through the wrapping paper. the fries looked like toy fries that little kids play with since, they were tiny and skinny. but, in the end when you are staving and hungry one ( me) will eat anything. but, afterwards i regretted it. i felt nasty!

If there's something I hate is bad service. I had been sitting for 10 minutes. I was there with my family and was going to the movies. Well we got skipped twice because the servers took care of others that had gotten there after us. So then finally I had to wave down someone and complain for someone to take care of us. We finally got our food after I reminded the waiter of our food and our rush. Well I know that the food was sitting for a while cuz it was warm not hot. So they brought that but forgot our shakes. So then the waiter took off to bring that. The whole experience took forever. Even to pay it took forever. Got there at 7:30 left at 8:50. Mind you the movie was at 8:45. Never going there again. Thank God for previews because we made just when the last one was playing.

ill be honest, i used to love Steak N Shake. but this place has deteriorated over the years. The restaurant was a disgusting pig sty. We had a family of 7 sitting next to us (5 kids). They left soom after we ordered byt the mess they left behind stayed there during our entire meal. Now, i dont know about you but i dont want to eat surrounded by other peoples left overs and spilled sauces/condiments. Little by little, people would finish and leave. leaving behind piles of direty dishes with absolutely no bus service to speak. It will be awhile before i return. I normally get the guacamole burger but this time the sandwich was cold even though I had to wait 10 minutes by the door to get my food from the drive through. It deserves No Stars!! This place was gross, I regret coming to this location I'm a regular in the one off University and this one is just nasty!! The food was not eatable and the service sucks not to mention the location was empty so there's no excuse. After they brought out my cold food with burnt toast they decided to clean the floor which I could taste the cleaning product as I ate "that's how strong it smelled inside the location" it actually made me feel sick. Last but not least the manager rang me up to leave while talking on phone and that right there was the icing on the cake!!

One word describes everything about this place: GROSS. Everything... Food, service, accuracy, and speed/ sense of urgency. 25 minute drive thru wait time, doesn't make it fast food, and if the 25 minutes insured good food and correct order, I'd be ok with the wait- but it doesn't. Missing 2 orders of fries, which is fine, because they did me a favor- the ones I did get were gross and barely edible. Melt? Nope. Cold cheese, too much ketchup and mustard, and lazily wrapped- not even cut in 1/2? Total yuck. My son loves their shakes, so it's the only reason I even drove there... but it's definitely the last time.

One cook, a server and a person who works the drive thru. Let me tell you my story and it'll shine some light on my experience. I walked in, excited about a late night meal... Little did I know it would end up becoming this nightmare. I stepped in, and the bent over "Please wait to be seated" was the only greeting we received for roughly 10 minutes. The floor was BLACK. Disgusting. I almost slipped during the 10 minutes I was waiting to be seated. Finally, the poor server comes up to us, seats us and warns us that there is about a 25 minute wait on shakes, and that he would be right back because the table behind us had been waiting that time. I looked around, and the 3 other tables being helped looked furious. He left, so my friends and I began chatting. I looked at the time: 2:08 a.m. There was dirty tables everywhere... Employees didn't seem to care about anything, and the drive thru line was absurd, even with people leaving. 10 minutes passed. Not a single visit. 15 minutes later, the shakes for the furious table behind us came out. Not even a visit to ask if we wanted drinks. 20 minutes. 25 minutes. 30 minutes. Not even a water! Nothing. Zip. Zero. Nada. At this point, I was furious. I looked over, and our server was taking his sweet ass time, walking around doing NOTHING. Another man around us got up, and yelled "I feel bad for the servers tip, but F**K THIS PLACE. The service is awful" and left. I feel the same way. My group and I proceeded to do the same and left. Without food. Without water, nothing. Moral of the story... I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy. Steak and Shake will never receive a visit from me ever again. I suggest you do the same. Need a late night meal? Go to Denny's or something. Never again.

The only reason I'm giving this place 3 stars is solely because their milk shakes alone (and the price) truly deserve it! Take away the incredible milkshakes and this place can't even get ONE star from me. The place was packed and very understaffed. The poor waitstaff could not clear tables fast enough and keep up with the demands of the job. To that I say to management: FOR REAL? HIRE MORE PEOPLE TO WORK! Our orders were wrong. I ate it anyway...and got the burger I ordered complimentary as an apology. It was actually decent but i was full. The burgers were VERY greasy. and the fries were the WORST I've ever eaten. I had like 3 and left them all.... They tasted like old oil. The kids orders were mediocre. Our waiter was friendly, charistmatic and talkative. The shakes were amazing and i will come back for more (after eating my dinner elsewhere)

Bad service, food took forever, server talking to us without a smile like shes not even happy to be here, 5 dirty tables around us and no1 even cleaned them, bathroom is a mess paper towels everywhere, asked another server that we are ready to order and he said im not your server, server threw the spoons for our milk shakes on our table and the table was dirty, spoons were already dirty when we got them, i asked for clean spoons she got said she will get togo spoons and we said ok she got them and threw them again on the dirty table, and obviously the place is low on staff, food was bad it was obviously made fast and placed in the plate was horrible, decoration was amazing, but very bad staff. I hope the managment is reading this and they should spend money on more training and adding more staff and fix the operation on the floor!

I've been here several times and it has always been "ok". The Frisco Melt is my favorite and their shakes are great, but the service is horrible. They're not rude or anything but it takes forever to be seated or attended to, I've sat myself a few times already. They always look like they have enough servers but I guess they're just not experienced enough or efficient. The reason for my 2 star rating is because of their drive-thru. I tried it for the first time and it was TERRIBLE. They made at least 4 cars pull up to the front to wait for our food, it was a mess. When I got my order, I had gotten the wrong shake (which had happened to me before sitting inside), so I went inside to get the one I had originally ordered which took forever. They need to get their stuff together.

To be seated they take forever and don't even acknowledge you, I sat myself down. Then I had to call on a waiter that wasn't his section to call my actual waiter. How to describe this place with a single word: terrible, pathetic, low class, etc. Let's be honest, the majority of 24 hr establishments will never provide quality service, but this is a new low. We waited over 15 minutes be seated at a table and another 10 minutes to be served. We got our drinks almost 20 minutes after we placed our order, with our meal coming 15 minutes later. The quality of the food was a joke, do yourself a favor and pay a couple extra dollars and get something at Denny's or IHOP. Service. What service? The server never smiled. Never introduced himself. Never gave us options. Utterly pathetic. We waited almost 30 minutes for the check, and were never asked how we were doing or if we needed anything else. We weren't even offered utensils or napkins for crying out loud. Stay very far away from this "restaurant". If the service is this bad imagine how clean the kitchen and employees are...just thought.

Worst service I've ever received. Pulled into drive thru at 145am. I understand a tired staff but with no cars in front or behind we were asked to wait 5 minutes. After waiting a few we pulled up to window not actually believing we were told to wait. We saw an employee walk in front of us after a cigarette break, who turned out to be the drive thru worker. She promptly asked us to drive back around because she couldn't take our order from window. I asked if she couldn't have just taken our order for a chocolate shake before her break and she explained it was shift change. I asked if customers wouldn't be served rest and she said she was taking her 5 minute break after a 9 hour shift. I understand being tired, working long hours, and really needing a cigarette but to be so rude and nasty! Never eating there again!!

Husband and I went for a late night meal. We don't have any Steak 'N Shakes close to home so we stopped in. Service was a little slow tonight considering there was only one other table occupied and they were finishing up. More people came in later but significantly after we had ordered our food. Shakes here are really good even though we didn't order one this time around. But my absolute favorite dish here is their Chili Deluxe! It's delicious! However, I was disappointed once I received mine. They took the dish's name literally, and my chili arrived chilly. It was still delicious, just cold but I ate it anyway (I never send food back unless I plan not to eat there at all - guess you can call me paranoid). My husband had a grilled chicken sandwich and the fries were also cold. All in all, a decent place to eat. Great prices, decent staff, open late and decent food. Nothing spectacular but nothing horrible either. Pretty mediocre overall. Better than eating "fast food" at least.

So every time I come here it seems like the service gets slower and slower. I have no idea why in the world it takes 20-30 minutes to make a burger but here it seems like the average wait time is half an hour. .....artery hardening, heart attack inducing, stroke producing, but oh so good! The thing about eating here is you need to be ready to walk in and roll out. I have a friend that always orders two of whatever he's having.... I'm trying to stay alive though. The staff is always friendly and helpful. I have a particular way I like my burgers, and each time I have ordered one, it has been delivered exactly how I like it. Looking like something out of the 50's malt shop era (think Johnny Rockets, but with bigger burgers) the place gives you that old time feel. Now the real reason I come here is for the All-American Shakes. Made with Ice-Cream and loaded with whipped cream...OH YUMM! Why the three stars? Well, they take a little long to deliver the food, and on many occasions, the dining room has needed attention. (In other words, it needs to be picked up and mopped). Maybe the staff shortage isn't helping on that front. Helpful tip..... Go drive thru if you're jonesing for a shake, it's faster!

I went to Steak n Shake for the first time two days ago, as soon as I walked in I felt a musk in the air. Not only was it extremely packed but it smelled weird; but since my bf insisted, we stayed. So we order our food && after a while my bf tells me "let's go". He had counted so many flies in that restaurant that we were utterly disgusted. This place needs an inspection ASAP. So unless you don't mind eating in an unsanitary place, don't come here. PS: I'm sure they're steaks & shakes are good but the environment is a turn off.

Ok. So my weakness is Steak n Shake. The four stars are because I recognize that it is not a 5 star environment, but anything less than that is blasphemous. I love their fries and their chicken tenders. and the grilled cheese. and the milkshakes. I don't like burgers, so I cant comment on those. The prices are great. Service wise, they usually are very attentive, but it can be a bit slow. If you are in a rush, I recommend the drive thru.

Though friendly, it took an unusually long time to take our order. We were about to leave when they finally came. It then took more than minutes for 2 burgers and 2 macaroni & cheese to arrive even though the restaurant was only 40% full. The fries were anemic. The burger was anemic. The edge/wall of the burger patty looked like ends of crispy homemade hash browns. The Mac & Cheese portion was tiny and I certain it was from a generic brand in a box. I ordered a vanilla milkshake and honestly, the milkshake from McDonalds is much better than this. I have absolutely no idea why my friend likes this place so much. Overall, this place was a major letdown for the first time every eating at one of these. First off, the service is incredibly slow even though the place was not busy. The place is dirty and smells. The concept of cleaning does not appear to be part of their daily protocol. The fries are pathetic. The milkshakes are highly overrated because they are very average at best. The shining item that prevented this place from getting a "1" star was the burger. The burger was actually very tasty and juicy. I few simple changes, and this place would actually be worthy of 3 or 4 stars.

Worst service ever. Food is excellent when it is actually cooked right then and there, but my god - they need to fire the entire staff and hire some competent people with a little sense of urgency. It's unacceptable to wait in a drive thru for 45 minutes for a single meal. Steak N' Shake, you need to implement some kind of controls over your drive thru. Yes, we expect to wait for freshly made, delicious burgers - but there's no logical explanation to leave a person waiting for 45 minutes, only to give them a cold burger and a half-melted shake. Yes, this actually happened. I even was asked to pull around and park out front and sat there for 20 minutes until I got out of my car, went inside, and waited another 15. It's really sad that the manager actually handed me the shakes that were made about 40 minutes prior, expecting me to take them as is. I wish their management would see their Yelp reviews and make a change!

It took 35 minutes to get three shakes via the drive thru! The only reason I waited was because I remember the shakes were so good. Well, sorry to say, but not anymore. My son ordered a peanut butter cup shake and he said it tasted like a vanilla shake with peanut butter cup crumbs on top of the shake. The other two shakes were: chocolate and Hershey's dark chocolate. Couldn't figure out which one was which but only one tasted like chocolate. The other one none of us could figure out what it tasted like and we ended up throwing it away. Horrible!

Very terrible service. I grabbed my own menu because no one was there to hand me one as I walked in. I sat my self down because no one was there to point me where to sit. Wasn't a hard choice because EVERY OTHER TABLE WAS NOT BUSSED. Cups, half eaten burgers, dirty napkins. At least 75% of the tables were like that. Sat down waiting 20 minutes just to have the server come by and ask what we wanted. Another 20 minutes for me to remind the server about the water I asked for. Another 20 minutes to remind the server about my food which he hasn't put in yet, but hey finally my shake came out... Another 20 minutes until I actually got my food which looked NOTHING like the photo. 5 minutes until I didn't want to touch my food anymore. Paid for this garbage and left. Only good thing about this place was the shake, that I will say was really good!... I was rating this 1 star but just for the sake of the shake, it'll get two stars.

I pretty much hate everything about Steak'n Shake. Why all the stars then? Well, they make a really good burger. They are real thin so one should get two or three patties. Even with three patties the burgers are overly big. Service here is adequate, the decor sucks unless you are 70 plus years old and miss the 50s. I'm not a huge fan of the fries, but they are OK I guess. I've never had a shake there, but I would guess they are pretty good.

My boyfriend and I used to have an obsession with steak and shake. Lately, our visits have been much less frequent. There service lately has been beyond slacking. The restaurant doesn't even have to be full for the service to be slow. The waiter or waitresses seem over worked and over stressed, making them want to do their jobs less and less. Half the time our food takes so long that it either comes out cold or the wrong order completely. When you let them know your order was wrong they do correct it or give you something complimentary, but it doesn't stop the disappointment knowing that this restaurant used to be my favorite spot. They certainly need to hire more people. If they had a larger staff then maybe their tables would be cleaned, allowing them to sit the entire restaurant to capacity, rather than having people leave because they no longer want to wait. My worst experience there was having to wait 2 hours to even get my drinks, by the time my food got there we were getting ready to walk out the door. The waiter was so upset that he DEMANDED that we pay for the meal since it had already been made. Needless to say we spoke to the manager. Got a complementary meal, because it was coming out of our waiters check. He was so upset he threw a tantrum and started breaking plates in the back of the kitchen. Haven't seen him there since.

Greasy! OMG, was it greasy! The chocolate shake, though - a perfect score! Too bad it's not the only thing on the menu. I had the Cheddar double - don't you make the same mistake! Instead, opt for the (usually) safe and satisfying Frisco Melt. I don't know, maybe I'm spoiled with Shake Shack, but I'm just not feeling the burgers or fries at Steak 'n Shake.

Reason I give it 3 stars is because the shakes were good and has variety and the server was nice, but you can tell she was miserable. She was the only server at 2 am, with about 5 big tables, what the hell is that? I came with about 10 guys, it took her 25 minutes to serve us, all we ordered was shakes, and that took about 45 minutes to come out. Again, not her fault, but how the hell does that happen?!

This Steak-n-Shake is ridiculously slow. There should be no reason for anyone to order a sweet ice tea, cookies 'n cream milkshake, and a water and have it take 15 minutes to get to your table. The food was adequate for the prices but could have taste better. The fries were okay. The burgers were sloppy. The milkshake was good. Ultimately, you pay for what you get.... and in this particular Steak-n-Shake's case, its not much!

The food is good but not great. The best thing on the menu is the Frisco Melt. The cheese fry's are meh. The service is the worse ever. I've gone in there expecting something different every time and every time i'm disappointed. I was there on a Friday night. There were probably 10 other people in the store at the time. Not packed or busy. It took the server 15 min to see us to get our order. It took him 15 more minutes to get the drinks then 10 more minutes after that to get the food. We asked for shakes as well. My girlfriend and I both like thick shakes. We asked for them to be thick. When we got the shakes, they were almost as if the ice cream was melted when they put it in the cup and just added milk. It was terrible. We waited a total 30 min from when we were seated to just get drinks, and 40 min to get food. Service is terrible.

Steak n Shake.... There are things I love, and things that I don't quite like. For starters, there ARE reasons to come here. And these reasons keep me going back, year after year. 1. skinny fries - while they are skinny, they won't keep you skinny. But they sure are tasty! 2. shakes - they constantly update and change them, from malt to cheesecake to turtle sundae shake, I can't say no when the craving comes. 3. sit down fast-food - sometimes you want a cheap meal with the diner experience. This includes some entertainment at times, like our last visit, with the waitresses bickering about who was helping more, as well as being short staffed and watching them run around crazily. 4. The burgers are quite yummy from what I recall, my favorite was the Frisco Melt. Now, being a vegetarian, I opted for the grilled cheese with frisco sauce and added mushrooms - very, very accomodating. I like. So no it isn't healthy, no it isn't the ideal romantic dinner date, but the bill will make you happy, and the food will please you enough.

I thought she wasn't so suppose to say that but instead I had to ask her again. So of course what we ALL do best after a night out drinking... we get the MUNCHIESS ... needless to say the only thing that is open at 2am - 3am is fast-food restaurants and this place. Where do I start ... Walking into the restaurant, from the outside it looks very deceiving it looks like a nice family social gathering with beautiful decor in the inside, BULL**** once you walk in totally different.. The floor is nasty, sticky and dirty, the people that dine in there... they were drunk as we were but they were acting very trashy and stank like crap. I mean they were only 3 tables being occupied and it took us 10 minutes just to get the menu, and our drinks. The table was nasty and smelled like old rag, the menu had smudges of soda, and milk shake. The server finally came to us and she was cool .. I give them that, you can tell she was tired and pissed.. I DON'T BLAME HER with the douche-bags that were in there making a mess and eating like pigs. So anyways we ordered our food... and please TRUST ME WHEN I TELL YOU IT WAS BAD ... AND WHEN I MEAN BAD .... I MEAN BAD. The 3D Burger Melt looked like a heart attack, looking at our food gave me heart palpitations... my friends ordered chocolate brownie milk shake i believe... my God.. that thing was so high in sugar, and chocolate that if anyone that was diabetic ate that would immediately go into a shock. I took one scoop of ice cream and it was like a competition in taste between sugar and chocolate.. I knew this place was junk food central so i tried to watch what i ate.. so i ordered the Spicy Chicken Sandwich and took of the bread.. the chicken wasn't spicy... at ALL in matter of fact.. it was but like a small piece of the chicken was spicy, the french fries were stale .. nasty stale... The following all 5 of my friends that went with me to eat here reported some type of nausea, diarrhea, and dizziness lol.. Do I recommend this place... It depends on who the person is. If you love eating nasty junk food, and your body has the metabolism some of us wish we had that you can eat a horse and still not gain a pound.. then YES come here and eat everything you want. But if you're like me, that if you so much eat a burger you can 10lbs, or like those who are watching their figure and health... noooo way... stay AWAY go to the 7-11 across the street and BUY A BANANA...

I only come here for my old man. It's his favorite burger spot and the only reason worth tolerating their discourtesies is to see him happy. Every time we go the same scenario plays out: 20 employees in the back. Clearly, most of them see the line waiting to be seated but not a soul greets customers or cleans a table right away. I'm going with a 4-star rating here for the price point on the steak burgers. They have plenty if good deals for under $4.00. The burgers are "steak" ones as are very thin, so you will need to order a double or triple(both under $4.00). They are alittle greasy, but good taste and they make them to order, so they are fresh. They come with fries, but the thin ones which are good too. They just added a whole new special burger menu that has some of the trendy options like the burger joints. I ordered the Garlic one and it was really great, it comes with garlic butter spread and a sprinkle of garlic salt on the top bun. They have a wide verity of milkshakes and are very good as well. The Managers are very prompt and want to make sure you had a good experience.

Similar to Johnny Rockets, this restaurant seems to attract a younger crowd of undertipping high school teens who like to put condiments in each others drinks when one gets up to use the restroom, and leave once they've done a fine job in spilling and smearing everything they ordered all over the table. The only reason I'm generously giving them 3 stars is because the milkshakes are delicious. They have a wide variety of flavors (Chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, banana, ,mint, cookies & cream, peanut butter, Cookie dough, M&M's,....etc) If you're lucky and theres no one in the drive thru, then God loves you. If not, I recommend walking inside and ordering your shake TO GO.

We're regulars there, let me start with that. This is the only Steak n' Shake near us and when my husband or son gets the urge, we gotta go. It's usually through the drive-thru and that's because I'm sick and tired of going there and getting stuck with the world's WORST manager. I'm not sure what his name is, but you can't miss him; think "younger version of Crypt-Keeper" and you've got it. He's rude, ignores customers and treats the staff not-so-great. We were there last Sunday and if I would have known he was there, I would have walked out. Our server, Lorelei, should be the manager, NOT HIM! Tables left filthy for the entire hour we were there; people waiting to be seated bunching up by the door; not enough menus to go around (really?? Please!); he's standing there, yelling at the cooks (we could hear from our table). Wrong orders coming out, servers arguing with each other and it all boils down to this man's horrendous leadership abilities. It's unexcusable to sit and wait for over an hour for burgers and salads. The drinks and my son's shake took 20 minutes alone to get to the table. The restaurant was nowhere near full capacity (couldn't be, with all those nasty tables that needed to be cleaned up). Oh, but if you happen to be Mr. Personality's friend...you get seated and served at the counter IMMEDIATELY (we saw that on a previous occasion, not this one). Meanwhile, if you're NOT a close, personal friend of Mr. Wonderful, sit there and wait. It's happened to us before when our party was the only one in the place. Not kidding..we were the ONLY table and we ended up having to leave because all the server would say was "it's almost ready." Man, I feel sorry for the waiters/waitresses when that guy is there!! Such a totally different place when the other manager is there; not even the same restaurant, it seems! I'm not sure what his name is, but he is a very pleasant man. He has a mustache and a wonderful Jamaican accent. The place runs like clockwork when he's there. So if you want better food, quicker, less stressed out servers, do yourself a favor: check out who's managing the place when you walk in. If it's a smiling, really friendly black guy with a killer Jamaican accent, go for it. If you're greeted (or ignored) by the Grim Reaper's little brother, run screaming to another burger place. ANY burger place will be better than this one if that guy's in charge...

Steak 'n Shake has never let me down when it is extremely late and I need some place to go. I usually head over after a movie at the Regal in Kendall, or when I get in the mood for a glorious shake. I've probably visited this place about 30+ times, and never have I had a horrible experience. Yes, sometimes the service might be a bit slow, but it is the wee hours of the morning, or did you forget? Their Frisco melt is a favorite of mine, which is a double patty burger on toast bread, grilled and served with Frisco sauce (think a sweeter Thousand Island sauce). They offer many sides. Fries, onion rings, baked beans, chili, cottage cheese, side salads... the list might go on. Some of these cost extra with your meal, which usually comes with fries already. You can also stick with a classic single, double, or triple cheeseburger, all of which cost $3.99, and come with fries. Like I said, it isn't the best food/burger joint in all of Miami, but when you need a fix, and it is after 12AM, you can depend on Steak 'n Shake to satisfy your craving. Be wary of the yellow pepper sauce. Your mouth may catch fire.

The service at this Steak 'n Shake was probably the best I've had at any! Our server was very friendly, attentive and personable. She realized a mistake before even setting the food on the table and was quick to fix it. Not all service was great there though, I was evesdropping (I didn't have to try too hard though, it was pretty public!) on a conversation between a young hostess and her friends that I would have rather not heard...especially over my meal. Speaking of my meal...the fries are one of the signature sides and after raving about them to my steak 'n shake virgin friend, I was a bit disappointed in their pale color and cold temperature! Nonetheless, the chicken fingers were great and the shake = A+ (How can you really go wrong though?!) IAll of that being said however, t's definitely not worth my drive across town...

I've gone to Steak 'n Shake over 30 times and I've always had a wonderful experience. I love the atmosphere of the place and the waiters are nice and courteous. The service is usually fast (10 to 15 minutes) and I find everything on the menu to be delicious. It's currently one of my favorite places to eat right now considering it's also very cheap. Update: The last few times I've been here, I've noticed they seem to have cut back on staff. This has lead to an increase in wait times, dirtier tables, and an overall drop in service. One time, we had to wait almost 15 minutes just for water. These few unfortunate incidents compel me drop a star. The food however, is still delicious and very affordable.

I've been a steak n' shake eater my whole life. Over the years the quality of most chains has gone down, especially the more they expand. As for Steal n' Shake, I still find the quality of their fast food quite high and tasty. Nowhere else can I get a delicious handspun Oreo milkshake, skinny fries and a steakburger flay and crispy with the bun slightly toasted on the grill. As for service, this particular establishment has had it's ups and downs, but I don't have any major complaints. Ps- when I am in town (I currently don't live in Miami), I'll sometimes drive 15 miles just to come here.

I really want to love Steak and Shake...but there is something about a place that I have to pay extra to get fries with my burger. That should just be a standard thing that comes with your burger. The burgers here are pretty good, not stellar, but good. I like the Monte Cristo sandwich that they have. The shakes that they have here are all delicious, I can't remember ever having one that I didn't like. I've dropped in for breakfast a couple of times and it was pretty good. The biscuits and gravy were quite tastey. They are a little bit on the pricey side when you actually take a look at what you get. I think I would be better off going to some fast food burger joint and having a meal with a milkshake there and it will be half the price.

This is just too heavy. And the only non-heavy part is the fries. The fries here are tiny and generally cold. I've tried this place twice, for a burger and for chicken fingers part of their 4 for under $4 meals (not including taxes) The drive through takes forever and the quality isn't good enough to not bunch in fast food. So everytime ive gone to this steak n shake (as a sit down) ive never had a good experience. -They wouldn't serve us breakfast at 10:30 - when clearly stated breakfast ends at 11. Its not hard to crack an egg and make some toast. -They've messed up our check- and fought us on it -They've messed up our order- and fought us on it. The food is acceptable but nothing fantastic. I can get a burger at the golden arches and be equally satisfied for cheaper. If you like cheese fries, i suggest to pass on them here, unless you like fake cheese spread on your fries. The only thing going for this steak n shake (and what saved it from 1 star despair) is that is has a drive through and the only thing i get from the drive through is a milk shake and that they have never messed up, even with their bazillion flavors/makes/models of shakes. They will make it extra thick if requested, but be careful because it is really thick! OH and speaking of flavors of shakes...if you like candy banana flavor (or as i like to call it fake banana flavor) then you would love their banana shake if not don't try it. Cookie dough is completely recommended though!

For lunch the fries were old and unsalted, the frisco was extremely over buttered( I like greasy food but this was ten times that of the bottom of a tub of movie theater popcorn). Horrible!!!! I am probably the easiest person to keep satisfied yet these guys found a way to disappoint me. Here it goes... I get there and I am seated right away. The restaurant was full so I expected a wait. When we were sat it literally took 25 minutes for someone to take our order. Finally the came around took our order and that was it for another 15 min. When our waiter finally came with the drinks he said that he didn't know what drinks we ordered. So I repeated it to him then hen uts down a drink in front of me and tells me to try it because he doesn't know if he poured root beer or the diet Coke I asked for. I went ahead and tried it and of course it was root beer. It then took him another 10 min. To bring my diet coke. And of course I had that nasty root beer taste in my mouth. After my drink was finally right. It took another half hour to get our food. Which we inhaled because we got there hungry and by the time the food got there were starving. Ohhh and did I forget to mention that the waiter also almost gave our food to another table and never refilled our drinks. I understand a wait is expected but an hour and a half for food is insane... The food was good but was not worth the wait. By far the woes steak and shake experience I've ever had.

Oh well, i find myself here once again after much begging and persuasion from my daughters. To start, There seems to be a couple more additions to the menu than my last time here . My kiddo ordered the guacamole chicken sandwich and liked it. I got the sliders and this time around they were not greasy:). The Fries were thin,crispy and hot. We skipped shakes ( a diet thing) and my kiddos were surprised at the variety of alternate selection ( they had coke zero with a shot of vanilla. The downside here was our waiter of the day... She seemed ditzy... First she almost skipped us to be seated ( I was like ummm excuse me I was here first, waiting). Maybe it was the ending of her shift, she is new, hmmm don't know . Our food was delivered before our drinks ( odd) , no offsets for refills nor water ......when we ended our meal and had to hunt her down for a takeout box. Overall the food was better this time around and I guess services depends on your luck. Prices are friendly to the pocket and the place itself was clean and organized. Parking is private lot accessible and they have a drive thru ( never used it:/) . It's very casual, kid friendly environment .

Great for late night munchies. The burgers are always good, thin steak patties. The honey mustard sauce is one of the best sauces i've ever had. The shakes are amazing (my favorites are banana split, banana and strawberry side-by-side, or just strawberry) and the prices are decent.

This place is practically the only thing thats open late out west. I'm addicted to their frisco melt, mmm so good. They also do pretty good shakes. The service is never good here in regards to getting soda refills, because they rarely come by to ask if you need anythinge else. But overall its an ok place to grab a late night meal in Kendall.

so, its 1am and my dad wants a milk shake but, not just any milkshake he wants one from stake n shake. so, me being a good daughter say yes old man i will go get you your damn shake lol but, of course i was thinking to myself yeaaaaa I'm hungry so, i might as well go get the old man his vanilla shake and get myself something as well. so, i got my self a bacon cheeseburger, fries, and a coke. and let me tell you that it was all disgusting! the burger had so much grease that it looked like the krusty the clown burger from the Simpson's. meaning that you could see through the wrapping paper. the fries looked like toy fries that little kids play with since, they were tiny and skinny. but, in the end when you are staving and hungry one ( me) will eat anything. but, afterwards i regretted it. i felt nasty!

Worst experience ever I ordered a Mint Oreo shake and Cajun fries I ended up waiting 35 + minutes and when they brought the shake it was the wrong one and then they forgot the fries. I then asked for my money back and I get coupons. In other words Garbage service and not willing to work with customer!!!!

If there's something I hate is bad service. I had been sitting for 10 minutes. I was there with my family and was going to the movies. Well we got skipped twice because the servers took care of others that had gotten there after us. So then finally I had to wave down someone and complain for someone to take care of us. We finally got our food after I reminded the waiter of our food and our rush. Well I know that the food was sitting for a while cuz it was warm not hot. So they brought that but forgot our shakes. So then the waiter took off to bring that. The whole experience took forever. Even to pay it took forever. Got there at 7:30 left at 8:50. Mind you the movie was at 8:45. Never going there again. Thank God for previews because we made just when the last one was playing.

ill be honest, i used to love Steak N Shake. but this place has deteriorated over the years. The restaurant was a disgusting pig sty. We had a family of 7 sitting next to us (5 kids). They left soom after we ordered byt the mess they left behind stayed there during our entire meal. Now, i dont know about you but i dont want to eat surrounded by other peoples left overs and spilled sauces/condiments. Little by little, people would finish and leave. leaving behind piles of direty dishes with absolutely no bus service to speak. It will be awhile before i return. Regardless of how good those damn Frisco Melts are!

I love steak and shake but this one is taking a turn for the worst lately. I normally get the guacamole burger but this time the sandwich was cold even though I had to wait 10 minutes by the door to get my food from the drive through. It deserves No Stars!! This place was gross, I regret coming to this location I'm a regular in the one off University and this one is just nasty!! The food was not eatable and the service sucks not to mention the location was empty so there's no excuse. After they brought out my cold food with burnt toast they decided to clean the floor which I could taste the cleaning product as I ate "that's how strong it smelled inside the location" it actually made me feel sick. Last but not least the manager rang me up to leave while talking on phone and that right there was the icing on the cake!!

The food is pretty good and tasty. However service is slow. If you are going to dine in prepare to wait Same goes for the drive thru. I always check my bag when I go to the drive thru, just in case. The prices are inexpensive but they are not overly priced. I usually eat the western burger and a shake. Their shakes are amazing!

One word describes everything about this place: GROSS. Everything... Food, service, accuracy, and speed/ sense of urgency. 25 minute drive thru wait time, doesn't make it fast food, and if the 25 minutes insured good food and correct order, I'd be ok with the wait- but it doesn't. Missing 2 orders of fries, which is fine, because they did me a favor- the ones I did get were gross and barely edible. Melt? Nope. Cold cheese, too much ketchup and mustard, and lazily wrapped- not even cut in 1/2? Total yuck. My son loves their shakes, so it's the only reason I even drove there... but it's definitely the last time.

Cheaper than McDonnals, better quality than McDonnals. Very large shake varieties. Service there is great but they always then to be understaffed so they can be a little slow but still attentive. Their fries are my weakness. *the drive thru does take a pretty long time, but you have to remember that you're begging what you pay for(it's worth the wait)*

I live very close to here. You can't beat the prices but the service is what's lacking. Every time the waitress disappears after she takes your order, and you only see her when she brings your food. It also smelled like old grease when I was here this time.

My god. This is the WORST restaurant I have ever visited. I had been a couple times, and each had been progressively worse than the last, but today was just over the top. I would love to meet the establishment's management so I can spit in their face for all their 3 employees at that are forced to work the graveyard shifts. 3 people run the restaurant. One cook, a server and a person who works the drive thru. Let me tell you my story and it'll shine some light on my experience. I walked in, excited about a late night meal... Little did I know it would end up becoming this nightmare. I stepped in, and the bent over "Please wait to be seated" was the only greeting we received for roughly 10 minutes. The floor was BLACK. Disgusting. I almost slipped during the 10 minutes I was waiting to be seated. Finally, the poor server comes up to us, seats us and warns us that there is about a 25 minute wait on shakes, and that he would be right back because the table behind us had been waiting that time. I looked around, and the 3 other tables being helped looked furious. He left, so my friends and I began chatting. I looked at the time: 2:08 a.m. There was dirty tables everywhere... Employees didn't seem to care about anything, and the drive thru line was absurd, even with people leaving. 10 minutes passed. Not a single visit. 15 minutes later, the shakes for the furious table behind us came out. Not even a visit to ask if we wanted drinks. 20 minutes. 25 minutes. 30 minutes. Not even a water! Nothing. Zip. Zero. Nada. At this point, I was furious. I looked over, and our server was taking his sweet ass time, walking around doing NOTHING. Another man around us got up, and yelled "I feel bad for the servers tip, but F**K THIS PLACE. The service is awful" and left. I feel the same way. My group and I proceeded to do the same and left. Without food. Without water, nothing. Moral of the story... I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy. Steak and Shake will never receive a visit from me ever again. I suggest you do the same. Need a late night meal? Go to Denny's or something. Never again.

The only reason I'm giving this place 3 stars is solely because their milk shakes alone (and the price) truly deserve it! Take away the incredible milkshakes and this place can't even get ONE star from me. The place was packed and very understaffed. The poor waitstaff could not clear tables fast enough and keep up with the demands of the job. To that I say to management: FOR REAL? HIRE MORE PEOPLE TO WORK! Our orders were wrong. I ate it anyway...and got the burger I ordered complimentary as an apology. It was actually decent but i was full. The burgers were VERY greasy. and the fries were the WORST I've ever eaten. I had like 3 and left them all.... They tasted like old oil. The kids orders were mediocre. Our waiter was friendly, charistmatic and talkative. The shakes were amazing and i will come back for more (after eating my dinner elsewhere)

Bad service, food took forever, server talking to us without a smile like shes not even happy to be here, 5 dirty tables around us and no1 even cleaned them, bathroom is a mess paper towels everywhere, asked another server that we are ready to order and he said im not your server, server threw the spoons for our milk shakes on our table and the table was dirty, spoons were already dirty when we got them, i asked for clean spoons she got said she will get togo spoons and we said ok she got them and threw them again on the dirty table, and obviously the place is low on staff, food was bad it was obviously made fast and placed in the plate was horrible, decoration was amazing, but very bad staff. I hope the managment is reading this and they should spend money on more training and adding more staff and fix the operation on the floor!

I've been here several times and it has always been "ok". The Frisco Melt is my favorite and their shakes are great, but the service is horrible. They're not rude or anything but it takes forever to be seated or attended to, I've sat myself a few times already. They always look like they have enough servers but I guess they're just not experienced enough or efficient. The reason for my 2 star rating is because of their drive-thru. I tried it for the first time and it was TERRIBLE. They made at least 4 cars pull up to the front to wait for our food, it was a mess. When I got my order, I had gotten the wrong shake (which had happened to me before sitting inside), so I went inside to get the one I had originally ordered which took forever. They need to get their stuff together.

I always come here whenever I am in the area. Some of the servers are super sweet. But my god everything takes forever. To be seated they take forever and don't even acknowledge you, I sat myself down. Then I had to call on a waiter that wasn't his section to call my actual waiter. No drinks, food took long, getting the check took long. I'm not sure if the management is not giving the place enough employees or if the employees are just all bad. Fix this problem!

How to describe this place with a single word: terrible, pathetic, low class, etc. Let's be honest, the majority of 24 hr establishments will never provide quality service, but this is a new low. We waited over 15 minutes be seated at a table and another 10 minutes to be served. We got our drinks almost 20 minutes after we placed our order, with our meal coming 15 minutes later. The quality of the food was a joke, do yourself a favor and pay a couple extra dollars and get something at Denny's or IHOP. Service. What service? The server never smiled. Never introduced himself. Never gave us options. Utterly pathetic. We waited almost 30 minutes for the check, and were never asked how we were doing or if we needed anything else. We weren't even offered utensils or napkins for crying out loud. Stay very far away from this "restaurant". If the service is this bad imagine how clean the kitchen and employees are...just thought.

Worst service I've ever received. Pulled into drive thru at 145am. I understand a tired staff but with no cars in front or behind we were asked to wait 5 minutes. After waiting a few we pulled up to window not actually believing we were told to wait. We saw an employee walk in front of us after a cigarette break, who turned out to be the drive thru worker. She promptly asked us to drive back around because she couldn't take our order from window. I asked if she couldn't have just taken our order for a chocolate shake before her break and she explained it was shift change. I asked if customers wouldn't be served rest and she said she was taking her 5 minute break after a 9 hour shift. I understand being tired, working long hours, and really needing a cigarette but to be so rude and nasty! Never eating there again!!

seems like i'm not the only one that is unhappy about the service... then again it is miami. i like their food. the shoestring fires are great and their version of a patty melt is amazing. the shakes are equally as good. the service though?!?!? it sucks. on my last visit i sat at the counter for 10 minutes to order a shake before anybody acknowledged me. after taking my order, they forgot about me and my shake. its a shame. corporate really needs to go rip this place up and send everybody to customer service school.

Husband and I went for a late night meal. We don't have any Steak 'N Shakes close to home so we stopped in. Service was a little slow tonight considering there was only one other table occupied and they were finishing up. More people came in later but significantly after we had ordered our food. Shakes here are really good even though we didn't order one this time around. But my absolute favorite dish here is their Chili Deluxe! It's delicious! However, I was disappointed once I received mine. They took the dish's name literally, and my chili arrived chilly. It was still delicious, just cold but I ate it anyway (I never send food back unless I plan not to eat there at all - guess you can call me paranoid). My husband had a grilled chicken sandwich and the fries were also cold. All in all, a decent place to eat. Great prices, decent staff, open late and decent food. Nothing spectacular but nothing horrible either. Pretty mediocre overall. Better than eating "fast food" at least.

So every time I come here it seems like the service gets slower and slower. I have no idea why in the world it takes 20-30 minutes to make a burger but here it seems like the average wait time is half an hour. Not even the awesome milkshakes make up for the horror that is this eternal wait for lukewarm burgers. I'm currently sitting in a booth at the restaurant and I can assure you that I am NOT the only unhappy customer. By the looks of it either their cook or their wait staff is completely lost. This will be the last time I come here.

.....artery hardening, heart attack inducing, stroke producing, but oh so good! The thing about eating here is you need to be ready to walk in and roll out. I have a friend that always orders two of whatever he's having.... I'm trying to stay alive though. The staff is always friendly and helpful. I have a particular way I like my burgers, and each time I have ordered one, it has been delivered exactly how I like it. Looking like something out of the 50's malt shop era (think Johnny Rockets, but with bigger burgers) the place gives you that old time feel. Now the real reason I come here is for the All-American Shakes. Made with Ice-Cream and loaded with whipped cream...OH YUMM! Why the three stars? Well, they take a little long to deliver the food, and on many occasions, the dining room has needed attention. (In other words, it needs to be picked up and mopped). Maybe the staff shortage isn't helping on that front. Helpful tip..... Go drive thru if you're jonesing for a shake, it's faster!

I went to Steak n Shake for the first time two days ago, as soon as I walked in I felt a musk in the air. Not only was it extremely packed but it smelled weird; but since my bf insisted, we stayed. So we order our food && after a while my bf tells me "let's go". He had counted so many flies in that restaurant that we were utterly disgusted. This place needs an inspection ASAP. So unless you don't mind eating in an unsanitary place, don't come here. PS: I'm sure they're steaks & shakes are good but the environment is a turn off.

THIS PLACE TAKES FOREVER TO SERVE YOU THE FOOD. OVER 30 MINUTES I KID YOU NOT!!!! the drivethru takes about 10-15! I understand they cook the steak burgers from scratch but cmon!! The staff usually forgets the orders if i asked for some mayo on the side or no pickles or something. During the past year they have reduced the amount of fries they place on the plate. This place was alright. The service was kinda slow. We waitef almost 10 minutes get our seats when there were a bunch of empty seats available. When we finally got to sit down, it tool like 15 to 20minutes to get our food. Their shakes were awesome though. I had the m&m milkskae, my friends had the vanilla and chocolate milkshake. They all tasted delightful. For the main course, i had the portabello mushroom steak burger because my friends recommended it to me. But i didnt taste any special to eat. Ok. So my weakness is Steak n Shake. The four stars are because I recognize that it is not a 5 star environment, but anything less than that is blasphemous. I love their fries and their chicken tenders. and the grilled cheese. and the milkshakes. I don't like burgers, so I cant comment on those. The prices are great. Service wise, they usually are very attentive, but it can be a bit slow. If you are in a rush, I recommend the drive thru.

Though friendly, it took an unusually long time to take our order. We were about to leave when they finally came. It then took more than minutes for 2 burgers and 2 macaroni & cheese to arrive even though the restaurant was only 40% full. The fries were anemic. The burger was anemic. The edge/wall of the burger patty looked like ends of crispy homemade hash browns. The Mac & Cheese portion was tiny and I certain it was from a generic brand in a box. I ordered a vanilla milkshake and honestly, the milkshake from McDonalds is much better than this. I have absolutely no idea why my friend likes this place so much. I won't ever return to Steak & Shake. Not recommended!
