Conveniently located at the intersection of Coral Way and 107th Ave, this traditional Cuban diner is a great venue to stop by and grab some grub with your college pals, which is why you see plenty of FIU students here all the time. It's open 24/7 making it a good local go-to spot. I wouldn't try to celebrate a special occasion or bring a date here. Sure it's a tad grimy and could use a real make-over in the aesthetic sense, but their food is ON POINT. I enjoyed a terrific Vaca Frita (fried steak) with a side of mashed potatoes and yuca. The portion sizing is generous and left me with extras to take home. Be sure to grab a glass of vino tinto (red wine) which sells for only $2.50. The outdoor bar seemed to have a pleasant vibe: just not as clean and shiny as what you might be used to seeing. Be sure not to leave your Spanish at home: the level of service you receive here is exponentially better if you attempt to assimilate and habla the Espanol!

Run of the mill Cuban cafeteria. There wasn't anything exceptional here. The food was fine, the service was fine, and the environment was..you guessed it. Fine. There are a few things they can do to improve the experience (i.e. clean the menus, be more attentive, and clean the overall restaurant) but that's not why people come here. The bottom line is, it's not somewhere to come on a date or for a special occasion, but it's fine for a late dinner when you're tired and hungry.

It's not a high quality restaurant but the food is great. I order the churrasco con purè de papas y maduros and las malanguitas fritas. The attendants are friendly but they need to put more attention to the floors.

It's next to my job.i had no choice but to eat this.the place smells. The parking lot is full of nasty unknown puddles.food has gotten very greasy and gross.i Will never eat here again. Pastelitos are old and hard.i use to bring my sons for breakfast no thank you.picadillo is greasy .

Pretty decent Cuban food at a reasonable price. The good thing is they add open 24 hours. Also the owner is part Lebanese so they serve Kiba but you gotta ask for it cause not on menu. Also excellent plantain soup!

This place is just OK. Not the best place for cuban food. But definitely a solid choice for a croqueta, cafe con leche & tostada and breakfast at any time of day for a low price

Latin American Cafeteria, South Miami (Calle 8) Visited this place while exploring Calle 8 during the 4th of July weekend. We decided to stop because the place was full! The place is set just like a cafeteria; the service was slow and invisible. We were promptly seated but it took over 15 minutes to have a waitress greet us. The food was great, fresh, tasty, huge portions! The price was extremely inexpensive for the amount of food you get. Would we go back?? Yes!!!

I am a new fan of this place. I cannot believe I've been going to FIU for 3 years and I haven't discovered this place until now. What I love about it is their outside cafeteria, since it really reminds me of home. It has that foreign yet homey vibe that you get when visiting other countries. When you come here, you must definitely get their croquettas. I've been living in Miami for a while, and these croquettas are AMAZING. The best one's I've ever had in my entire stay here. It's full of meat and you take note of that nice crunch. I always like drizzling some lime juice on it, for that acid kick. Their other foods are great too, always big servings and portions. Plus, FIU students get that discount with their ID! I love coming here for a late-night all day studying grub, since they're open 24 hours. I mean wow, colada or cortadito at 3 am, yes please! Or even a late night croquetta preparada after a long day of clinicals, I'm in! Their servers and waitresses are really nice and friendly, it feels like home away from home, even with the chaos of FIU streets. The only thing for me is that they need to update their look and clean the place a little. But overall, I like eating here.

This is the local latin america. Open 24 hrs. There isnt a lot of parking available in front of the restaurant. Even though there is a plaza next door with plenty of parking, customers of this place are not allowed to park there. On various occasions I see different people guarding the lot, looking to see who's not supposed to be parked there to call the tow company. I usually come here for breakfast. They have various inexpensive options. They literally have breakfast options for $4 that include eggs, bacon, and toast. Plus, if your an FIU student you get 10% off. They also have pastelitos, which are pretty good. Their cafe con leche is awesome, I love it. The service is ehhh, not great. Servers always seem to be in a rush. Anytime I'm in the mood to not make breakfast, this is always a safe and budget friendly option for me.

Last week we visited Luis Galindo's Latin American 2 restaurant on Coral Way for Sunday dinner around 9:30 p.m. The place was not full at all, we were promptly seated after we took a look at the board near the entrance which listed the daily specials. This business has another location on SW 57th Ave. which is always full, we've been to this location numerous times. Now I see that they've also opened a location on SW 72 St. How can a business owner who has enough money to run 3 restaurants not have enough money to pay for proper upkeep of those restaurants? The first thing we noticed about the Coral Way location is how run down it is, all the furnishings are old and scratched, missing paint in lots of places, the booth across from ours had a piece of duct tape holding up the one of the corners of the table. The owner should be ashamed of the condition of this restaurant. We found their prices to be very high for the quality of the food and the downtrodden overall appearance of the restaurant. The owner should pour some money into this location, spiff and clean it up, bring it into 2015 and perhaps then he could justify the menu prices. One waitress came with water, we asked her a couple of questions about the specials, turned out she knows nothing about food, her duties are related to setting tables and providing water. Another waitress came, I promptly asked her about the sizes in which one of the specials was offered, she had no idea, she said she 'thought' medium and large, I insisted that she find out the sizes and prices. Never saw her again. Another waitress came by, she took our order and had the prices for the specials. A few minutes later another space cadet came by to take our order! I've never seen so many waitresses floating around, not knowing much about food and prices, in a place that was almost empty. They brought toasted Cuban bread which was very greasy. The food arrived. Guiso de maiz for me which was good, not very good, not excellent, just good. My husband had the boneless breast of chicken, fried sweet plantains and white rice, his food was average. The guiso de maiz and the boneless chicken breast were about the only lower priced items, the rest of the items in the menu were grossly overpriced. I would have given 3 stars for the food, but the dismal overall state of the premises caused me to knock off 1 star. We won't be back to this location. And next time we visit the SW 57th Ave. location I'll take the time to inspect my surroundings and write a review.

I really wasnt happy with how they treated me when i was there. i am not a spanish speaker so i tried my best to get steak and eggs with fries and i end up with bacon and eggs with fries and this server asks me why i order that instead of steak. Since i am the customer, i know what i have ordered and it wasnt Bacon and eggs with Fries. It also took them like 20 minutes to process my payment. i really wasnt happy with my experience.

My go to place for four years now and never been disappointed. Open 24 hours, fresh food every time and fairly cheap.. Regardless if you speak Spanish or not, the girls here are always nice.

It's certainly not a "high quality" restaurant, but you get A LOT more than what you pay for. The food is quite good, and they give you a lot of it. The service is fast and the staff is pleasant. Perfect for a quick bite to eat!

This place offers the cheapest, oiliest, and most disgusting heart-attack inducing Cuban food in Miami. The portions are exaggerated. The use of garlic and onions is overwhelming. And I love every bite. This is my hangover cure. This restaurant's food is the only path back to functionality. The service is so quick that I have to wonder how they do it on a Sunday morning with a full house. I don't care. God bless you, you filthy animals. ;) May your doors never close.

Really dig this place. There used to be a Latin America right by my place. (It's now a more expensive and lower quality Cuban cafe). I've always known that this little place existed, but I had never ventured out here before, despite the fact that it seems to be the only thing lit up at 1 a.m. on a Wed. night. First off, the parking for this place is awful. (You can't even park in the lot of the strip mall...they've got a rent-a-cop hounding the parking spots). The staff never cracked a smile for me...but it's probably cause I was speaking English. (Mi espanol es muy mala, pero yo soy chino...i hope that's right?) The service was also kinda slow, but it was only two ladies working so I'm not docking points for that. The food was amazing. The Miami Sandwich isn't as big as other cuban places around, but it's stacked pretty high. Those who suffer from tiny mouths should stay away. The layers of meat with swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato, and CRISPY bacon made this sandwich a blissful meal for myself. Also got an order of fries, and they really pile on the portion. My brother got the Arroz Con Pollo. He's a pretty skinny guy so when it came out, they should have warned him that it would require two of him to finish one order. The rice was flavored differently from other cuban places. I can't put my finger on it, but I suspect they used crack. The chicken was....meh, alright. Also, every meal comes with these toasted slices of cuban bread. They are spectacular. I would come here just for that and some cafe con leche. The prices are pretty standard. It was about $7 for my sandwich and $8 for the Arroz Con Pollo. Great place worthy of repeat visits.

Very affordable lunch. You cant go wrong with the grilled chicken breast and I must say the yuca with mojo was delicious. Not sure how anything else really is on the menu, but the service was also quite good.

This is a great breakfast spot! Are you looking for pancakes, waffles, eggs Benedict?! WRONG place! Haha this restaurant is your typical Cuban spot in Miami! Good food.... AFFORDABLE prices! Breakfast Special is Eggs, Cuban toast, your choice of bacon, sausage, or ham, && your choice of house potatoes, tater tots or French fries ohhh and "Cafe con Leche" (coffee & milk) all for a whopping $3.99 yes.... 3.99! I usually go on Sundays and the special is $4.99 & after 12pm it jumps to $5.99 but regardless, you're still getting a lot for pocket change. House potatoes aren't your regular "American Potatoes" it's boiled potatoes with TONS & TONS of butter! So if you're looking for healthy, look elsewhere :) Service is very quick, since it's always busy. The waitresses are friendly. It's a small place, loud but clean. You sit yourself but since it's always busy, at times you have to wait for them to clean your table while you're already sitting lol. Plenty of parking in the front and if you want to sit outside there's outside dinning. Overall cheap eats good price

I totally love this place. We had been going there for years. For me is like my mom home cooking, the waitress always attentive. If you are craving for cuban food this is the place you should go. Affordable clean and fast service. I love it!!

This was the worst experience ever! I'm ashamed of my cuban heritage when it comes to places like this! We arrived after a function thinking "sure it's open 24 hours" what a mistake!!! Everything I asked for from the daily soup special to a salad had run out. I asked for one of the most common appetizers "mariquitas " which came out ice cold and with a hair in it. When we returned it the waitress told me she is canceling the order anyway because they had run out!!! My chicken soup was cold and bland, I had to literally chase after server for water or napkins. Needless to say I WILL NEVER BE BACK!! Btw the place is stuck in a time warp and hasn't been cleaned in years!

Only giving it two stars due to the 24/7 hours. Other than that it's not good food and slow service. If u don't speak Spanish this isn't the place for U. Been there a bunch tho on those late nights where everything is closed lol.

Great prices for lunch. Their lunch specials are incredibly affordable (5.99) and the portions are huge. The service is quick, perfect for your lunch break. They even give a 10% FIU discount and additional discounts if you pay cash. I don't know the details on that but you can always call ahead of time to ask. I eat lunch here quite frequently and recommend it to anyone in the neighborhood that's in the mood for a good Cuban dish.

  • Janexis R.

I don't come here too often but when I do 98% of the time go with the cuban frita its thick & seasoned just right in most places I usually have to order two to get full . The reason I give it a four stars is because they offer milkshakes yet make it out of powder & thats a crime :( what happen to ice cream ?!?!? So I don't recommend shakes here .

The chicharrón de pollo (tender and juicy chicken tenders made to perfection) is amazing. I ordered it with arroz moros, maduros and a salad and it was a great meal. The servings are also quite generous - the above meal fed two and we were both plenty satisfied. The people a table over ordered the paella and it also looked appetizing. The waitress started us off with yummy toasted cuban bread as an appetizer. we had some coffee with milk and were impressed. They provide discount to FIU students and a higher discount if you pay cash. Overall great place; relaxed atmosphere.

When I used to live outside of Miami, this was the first place I would go to eat as soon as arrived to the city. Their food is good and they have all the Miami staple dishes. It is not incredibly cheap, but it will not break the bank either. Service is a hit or miss. At late night and, if you are lucky, you will be greeted by the most wonderful old lady in the bar. She is awesome !!! The others are as I said before hit or miss.

For a cheap meal with good portion size go to Latin America it's open 24/7 even on Christmas Day and they give discount to fiu students. Parking is tough when it's busy but if one wants to eat out and not worry about breaking the bill go to Latin America. They have a special takeout meal which varies each day and for 5 dollars plus tax you get a meat one rice an order of maduros &soda can of your choice.

Good place to get a breakfast for $5.00, open 24 hours, I recommend the carne asada, compare to other places is your best option, the Churrasco for some reason is very inconsistent sometimes is the best I have but sometimes is very disappointing.

This location is open 24 hrs. I always come here for the chicken soup and breakfast. Love the orange juice here. Take outs are quick too. Nothing compared to other cuban restaurants, but for a cafeteria its pretty good.

Food is ok for Cuban food. I love the fact that it's open 24 hours being that I like going out late and I don't want to eat Mc Donald's at 2am. Nothing great but it's good for a quick fix.

Best and cheapest cuban style breakfast, close to home and opens 24 hours. One morning around 6:30 AM, we were walking our dog and decided to go have breakfast. Since, it was dark and early the staff did not see my dog and we were able to seat outside and hid him. Maybe they saw him but did not say anything. I love and hate the staff, sometimes there are few people and the waitress take her sweet time to come take our order. The waitresses don't like it when we order sunny side up eggs due to previous salmonella issues (many years ago). At this moment, I am very happy with the place and dinner has also been good and cheap.

  • Alex G.

First of all, I was a bit nervous when I sat down at a booth. The booth itself was worn down and looked in need of some serious remodeling. I stuck with a chicken sandwich to keep things simple and my son ordered a club sandwich. We also got some croquets to munch beforehand. The croquetas sucked. The sandwiches were actually pretty good and tasty and the server was very attentive. That's why they get 3 stars. More like 2.5 stars really. Seems these guys are close to a good thing but apparently the owner needs to spend some money and make this place look inviting. I would go back here for a quick bite again for sure, just gonna make sure its "to-go" next time.

I think this place needs a serious upgrade. I have been coming for years to this place and it is always the same thing. The last two times I was extremely upset because my water cup had lipstick that wasn't mine, the last time my silverware had food stuck and dried. It was disgusting. Also the quality of the food has gotten worse. You have your typical cafeteria style staff. Not the helpful kind, but the very rude women who at every request you ask give you that dirty look and they want to make sure you saw them give you the look. The only thing that this place has going for them is the breakfast and their prices. Other than that, I still don't know why I still go back. The parking SUCKS too!

  • Elizabeth D.

Best breakfast special in Miami. Eggs any way you want, cuban tostada, hash browns/french fries, and any breakfast meat for under $5 before 11 AM. Not only is it cheap and plentiful, but each part of this breakfast tastes pretty great. If you get a cafe con leche, make sure you take a sip of the steamed milk before you pour the coffee in it (after it cools off a bit). This is your Cuban grandma's steamed milk here. So comforting, I just wanted to lay in a fetal position and rock myself back in forth in the booth.

I love the tostones & palomilla steak here, they're awesome. The prices are also super reasonable. I would definitely recommend stopping here if you need your fix of delicious cuban food!

Best breakfast !! Eggs any way you want, Cuban Tostada, has French Fries, and any breakfast meat for under $5. Good cheap food :) Cafe con Leche Rocks!!! must have 2 lol

The cheese pastry was stale, and I guess that's what happens when you order it at 7pm on a Sunday. I heard this place was shut down once because of a roach infestation. Should that alarm you? It didn't alarm me. Why? Because I'm sure they're doing everything in their power not to get shut down again. And if I do happen to see a little creepy crawly trying to barge in on my meal? Curtains for this place! Other than that, parking can be a challenge here, but they never close so you'll find a spot eventually (although it may not be at the time of your liking). Service is about as good as any other Cuban spot in the area and way better than at Benny's (across the parking lot). Don't go to Benny's....

Ive eating here so many times... and its always AMAZING and TASTY. My favorite dish is the filetillo de pollo/res both are delicious. However last couple of times the cortaditos have been meh, so Im gonna start skipping those. Staff is always friendly and the owner/manager? is always caring that you are please with your dining experience. My boyfriends favorite sandwich is the Miami sandwich. delicious. Be careful in the parking lot, because Ive seen a couple of accidents happened.

This to me is the best of the Latin American restaurants. The service was great and the food even better. I had the bistec de pollo and just writing about it now my mouth waters just thinking about it. The media noches are also outstanding. Go here and order one of the daily specials and you won't be disappointed.

We came here for a VERY late meal on Saturday after 80s Karaoke at Studio. Well, all I can say, is that it's better than Dennys. We sat at the counter because we thought the service would be faster. There were quite a few people there and only two waitresses. So, they were running around trying to get everyone's orders and charge them. I ordered the media noche and the bf ordered a cubano especial. Well, the portions are pretty big. The flavor, eh...not so great. First off, the bread that is used in a media noche is supposed to be sweetish. The bread was not sweet at all. And, there just wasn't a whole lot going on with it. I packed up most of it and took it home. I also ordered a mamey milkshake, normally one of the best milkshakes around. This place did it from ice cream instead of blending the actual fruit in there. It just wasn't very good. Again, the service was ok considering all the running around the waitresses were doing and it is a great alternative to Denny's for a late night meal. Other than that, I would not come to this place during regular hours.

meh....average latin food! we ordered some ques frito and they gave us mozarella sticks :/ el arroz moro has a weird spice that i really did not like the chicken cordon blue was good!!! i see myself getting it again. the place was just too crowded and too many little kids screaming!

  • Renee D.

This place is much more aesthetically pleasing than it's 57th Ave and Calle Ocho location (not saying much). And the parking is much easier. I just stopped off for a cortadito - ohhh so good and necessary at 4:30!! but it being the same chain as the Luis Gallindo Latin American - the menu was the same- And if there is a standard amongst the Gallindo chain - then I'm sure this place rocks for it's tamale en casuela and crema de Malanga. And I think it's awesome that they use 0-trans fat oil to cook - my abuelo would have certainly benefited from this :) But I guess whatever you fry pork fat in - they are still chicharron's :)

If you are looking for quick stop for cheap cuban food and cuban coffee, this is a good convenience spot. The food could improve, but the coffee and dessert is pretty good.

This chain offers a typical Cuban breakfast (eggs, bacon, ham or sausage, Cuban toast, café con leche) at a very good price. The tortilla is highly recommended. Service is just ok, far from great; food might take a while longer than it should and the servers are not all that friendly, but hey, the price is ok and the place is usually clean and neat. Weekends can get pretty busy which for me is always a good sign (means no stale food hanging around). This location has a big, roomy dining room and can comfortably accommodate a large group (I usually have no less than 6 in my party). Parking is a breeze.

Okay. Emily makes excellent points. 1. The batidos/shakes are made from what appears to be ice cream, and the truly great cuban shakes i've ever had didn't really consist of ice cream. I ordered the chocolate shake and it was awwright. 2. I, like Emily, came late as well. There were only two ladies working but they were on their game so, no big deal and no big wait. But that's where I draw the line. For those who don't know, this place went through a HUGE legal battle a few years back. More than a couple of customers became seriously ill (I want to say something like e-coli or salmonella). This, in a place as overly-dramatic as miami, would have been the end of the restaurant. But it wasn't. They bounced back, to say the very least, and are back with the peloton and all the cubano jones'. When I went, I ordered the media noche, pan con bistec, and the frita cubana. I did after all just get out of the gym, so. The media noche bread I felt was sweet and fresh, and the pan con bistec was pretty darn good. The frita though, I'd hate to knock it but seemed a tad below my standard (el rey de las fritas). Through the haze of flashing yellow and red stoplights, and through the ruckus of semi-drunken clients, lies a lighthouse of warm and cozy cuban food. Fast. Late. Fattening. Good. Cheap. Good. If my comment on their past mistakes with health problems bothered you, let me put you at ease. This place banks. They have loyal, hardcore clients, and cops eat there. Badabingbadaboom.

This place has the best Cuban food in town! It is open 24/7 and the food tastes fresh all day round. I always order the chicharon the pollo with rice & beans, yummy!! It comes with a mojo w/ onion sauce that you can have on the side or on the top...Don't forget to get the toasted bread which I use to dip in their delicious black beans. The beans are on point!!!! I will not eat anywhere else for cuban food, but here :o)

This place is not going to impress you on its aesthetic qualities or for anything cutting edge in terms food, but what this place will do for you is give you a meal for cheap that will satisfy you for a long time. The portions at this particular Latin America are enormous and can be split by a couple with lil problem. The food is your typical latin cuisine, rice and morros, tostones, platanos etc. Personally I love their sandwiches, and would be happy having them at any time of the day but their other food is really good as well. Basically this place can be a staple if you wanted or a one time event but you would be pleased either way.

Food is great, like the lamb leg and the bread before ordering. Cons would be the service, waitress forgot everything you told and very slow even there is not much people. Not clean environment but that may there style? Anyway, good food.

I found a baby cockroach in my food. I got a tuna sandwich for take out. I was at my house turned the tv on and started eating. I saw something wiggling in my papitas the little chips that come with the sandwich. I discovered a baby cockroach. This is so disgusting I can't even deal with it. I eat here often. I'm calling the health department. This isn't funny. I'm upset I really liked eating at this place. Man this sucks. I'll attach photos and video of this.

I'm going to rate this place based on how likely I will order their chicken empanada again. 1 star is a compliment. Let me give you a hint, it does not taste like chicken. I had to spit it out into a napkin. My stomach will hate me in the morning. I nearly ate half of it because I was starving. Big mistake! It looks like they recycled yesterday's empanada filling. PLUS it looked super old. Looks like they don't like to throw away old food.

I started off with a strawberry batido, which is a Spanish milkshake. It's creamier than your usual, I loved the taste of the ice cream they used for it. Loved evn more that they used fresh strawberries! You can really taste that difference.. Thumbs up for that haha. Our waitress only spoke Spanish and the whole menu doesn't include a description of their meals. So come with a Spanish friend to help guide you, they might be familiar with what's already in the entrees. It's pretty basic. I ordered an original Cuban sandwich, which had pork, ham, and potatoes sticks on the side. I love putting the potatoes sticks in my sandwich cause it gives it a crunch! That's my favorite thing about Hispanic burgers and sandwiches, the chips they put! My sandwich was pretty good but ehh... The pork was too dry :/ I'd recommend a mojo pork sandwich if you came here to eat cause the mojo sauce will juice up the pork :) their chicken dish isn't bad either! My sister ordered the chicken dish with rice and black beans. They give you a HUUUUUGGEEEE chicken breast with onions on top. It's so flavorful! I loved it. Their white rice is yummy too, I liked the way they seasoned it :3

I don't know If the girl was tired today but we did go around 10:30p maybe that's why she was so slow but besides that the orange juice is disgusting. And The lady helping me outside was super Rude ignoring me then she was super slow to even bring me lemons she gave me hot water with no ice in it gave me the bill right away I even tipped her well and she still was rude. Never again will I go here*

I've wanted to come to this place for the last 4 years since I've been at FIU. Always saw it while driving but never really dared to for some odd reason but I decided 'today was the day' and I went. I wanted to have the 'full experience' so I sat down at their outside counter and ordered a Club Sandwich. Bad move. As a girl who was by herself that was a bad idea. The gross stares I received from men who could easily be my grandfather was just too much so I changed my order to go. The sandwich was good just please don't put a pound of mayo in the sandwich! It was WAY too much! It came with crispy quite yummy fries so no complaining there. Cheap? Sure. Good? Decent enough. Will I be excited to go there again? Not really.
