This place is Great! I highly recommend eating there, especially if you are on a budget, but still want to eat on Ocean Drive. I have celebrated several of my Birthdays there. The ambiance is very nice, and I even saw Usher walking by me as I was sitting waiting for my food. The wait staff is always attentive and courteous. The movie Scarface was actually filmed on the stairs directly next to this Johnny Rockets. If you can't afford to eat at the ritzy restaurants next to this one, or you are in the mood to eat some great burgers, milkshakes and fries. Then come out to this Johnny Rockets and you won't be sorry!

The food is expensive on "holidays and events days". 15 dollars for a burger and orange juice! I'd rather go to a cuban restaurant and order the same. It would taste better and for a third of the price. They say that it takes long to fill orders there because the food is cooked fresh, that may be true, if the fries were... NOT fresh. At least add some flavor to the food. They give a 20 percent military discount on non holidays though.

We went here looking to sacrifice local flavor and some food quality in order to save a little money and a little time compared to the other South Beach options. Failure on both counts. Half of our group went to News Cafe instead to get a little local flavor... they got better food for the same money in almost exactly the same amount of time, plus they got to eat at a local landmark (albeit a pretty touristy one). Quite expensive for what you get. We were ready for a bit of sticker shock because it's South Beach... but wow. Service was just.... awful. We had to wait on everything, and the place was far from crowded. ALL THREE of our orders were wrong (2 bacon cheeseburgers and a chicken sandwich with no mayo became 2 regular cheeseburgers and a chicken sandwich with mayo). Naturally, we were still charged for bacon on the bill. Which we then had to SEND BACK TWICE before it was completely right. Burgers weren't bad, chicken sandwich was pretty darn bad. Dry. Oh, yeah, and they add an 18% GRATUITY to every order. I guess they know no one would get tipped there otherwise. I'm not a demanding restaurant patron and this is my first ever one star review... but man did they deserve it. The only black mark on an otherwise very fun trip to Miami.

Burger, fries, onion rings, shake, & root beer float - ran the table. Food was fine - service was great & quite helpful w/ a cranky kid.

Four stars? I've been here once and it was one of the best meals ever. But, there are conditions. First step: spend all day without food on a plane getting to Miami from somewhere very cold and rainy - best if it's October or November when it is a bit quieter in Miami. OK. So, arrive at your hotel very late - even better if it is a Sunday night. Drop your bags in your room and walk down the block to Johnny Rockets. Order a burger and a beer. Sit at a table on the sidewalk. Eat a very nicely put together burger. Enjoy the evening breeze. Repeat.

This is where they film a scene in the Movie "SCARFACE" They have signs all about it. plus they have the movie playing on a loop. I thought that was pretty funny. The food was great, I tried this Burger with a fried egg on top of it. It was sooo good. They sell buckets of beer and for a decent price as well. Cool spot.

Visiting on vacation and decided to rest and have some beverages while on Ocean Dr. It was lunchtime, I think this past Tuesday, and we were seated on patio right away. Our sever was super attentive, super friendly and took an interest in us, where we were from and found he had family in Sacramento (we are from California) and chatted a bit about Cali. I really wish I had kept the receipt so I could list his name here because he really was absolutely fantastic. If we had eaten food I'd give the fifth star, so that is the only reason I gave a four... loved hearing the Whitney Houston music too. We were all talking about her, how great she was, seeing her in concert (if our server reads this please message me so I can add your name to the review! I highly recommend Johnny Rockets for great location, fast and friendly service. Two thumbs up from both of these happy patrons :)

Truth is I've had better... going to any Johnny Rockets is difficult once you've had one thats really good and I really do believe that this one just fell victim to that harsh reality. On the flip side the waiters are HOTT and great eyecandy!! Quick food on the same strip as Wet Willies and Fat Tuesday's so if you need a quick meal so the alcohol doesn't hit you too hard go peak at the cuties with accents and get a burger while your there.

I went on a Saturday night at 7:30. The food was good but the service was terrible. If they're going to have us seat ourselves, then they need to take better care of their stations. Myself and one other sat down outside and didn't get menus for five minutes. The majority of the staff was simply standing around talking to each other, and some were freaking out. Some guy who looked like a supervisor told the staff to great the guests, and then he himself walked over and handed us menus. We waited more than five more minutes just to get in our drink order. By the time our waitress arrived, we were ready to order everything. She was so impatient that I could barely give my order to her. First, I ordered a shake with no whip cream on top. Our table was right by the bar, and every shake being made was topped with cream. A table next to us that sat down after we got our menus got their shake before me. After her checking up at the bar three different times, she finally brought me over a shake WITH CREAM ON TOP, and didn't even realize it until she placed it in front of me, and blamed it on the guy making them. I was so pissed I just took the shake anyway. The two of us both ordered a burger, and asked for a side of fries to split. They brought out the fries first, long before the burgers arrived. Maybe they consider fries to be a starter or whatever, but if my waitress gave me a second to open my mouth and say something, I could have gotten the fries WITH our burgers. How lame. Waiting a long time for a check is no surprise, either. 18% gratuity is already added, and we didn't leave her extra. Service was horrible, but that night I was craving burgers and shakes, and I got it. Wish they would really step up their service.

Whoa, this was the worst meal I have eaten in years. I should have pushed my fingers down my throat to try and purge it out... Seriously! I could have spent less and made a better burger in under 20 minutes... I can't possibly draw upon the English language well enough to convey the disappointment this place caused me. Why is it always packed? How is it possible anyone gave this five stars? Did their mother raise them on frozen meals and pop tarts? This place is beyond horrible.

I went here on a lunch break looking for something fast, not too expensive, and not awful to eat. I placed my order at the bar to go because I only had a 30 min break and it took me 3 min to walk there (need 3 min to walk back) Before I ordered I asked how long it would take to get my food because I was in a hurry they said 7-10 min. It took them 15. So now with the walking and the 15 min I had to wait to get my food I am left with 9 min to eat. I sit down at one of their tables have my food all laid out on the table and I am told I can't sit there because I ordered my food to go, even though I had left a 20% tip and there were many empty tables!!!! I expressed my frustration and was told that I could move to another table inside. By the time I pack this food up and move by break will be over! You can't give me 3 min to try and eat the last few bites??? I tried to argue my case with Kristina the manager by saying that I was a paying customer. Kristina was extremely rude and told "You can leave" I can't believe I was treated this way. NEVER AGAIN. DO NOT GO HERE. Bad customer service and all around not that impressive.

Not a bad spot for a quick burger and a shake/beer. I hit it up because it was close to my hotel. I should apologize to them as I stole their salt and pepper shaker. And maybe a bottle of ketchup. But that's what they get for putting they're establishment so close to my hotel, then forcing me to drink ungodly amounts of vodka for half a day. And making me order several to-go burgers knowing that I didn't have any materials in my room. It seemed like a good idea at the time. I am sorry for it now.

Great spot. Best value on Ocean Drive and not offer liquor! Try the liquor milkshakes. Oreo Kahula Cream is amazing. Ask for Terry or Amy. Staff knows how to please!

I came here with my boyfriend and he loved it but I'm not really a fan, the only thing I fell in love with was their Hershey's milkshake which is amazing, the food was really bad it was tasteless and portions are quite small to be an American fast food restaurant, the service was good. However I returned on my own another day after work, food again was tasteless!! & staff was extremely rude and seemed bothered by the fact that I was there alone they kept staring at me as if it was a crime terrible terrible service!!

One of the best places to get food on Ocean Drive. This place is about as reasonable as far as price as you are going to get (on Ocean Drive). Besides the amazing burgers, the people who work there is what makes or breaks this place. Our service and servers were amazing! Handling a group of 8 who had a few to drink isn't easy! No one's check was miscalculated and the burgers were done in less than 5 minutes! I'll definitely be back!

My girlfriend and I were recently on vacation in South Beach and we came across your establishment. We sat down to have breakfast and drinks here since it didn't look too busy. The service here was absolutely amazing. Our server, Terry, was such a peach! He was so friendly and made our visit to the restaurant so delightful. One thing that I really enjoyed about this visit was that no one was trying to force alcohol down our throats. It's hard to find a place on Ocean Drive that isn't trying to get you in to get you wasted. I found the experience here to be very unique since it's in the middle of party central. Not everyone wants a party scene at 10:15 AM! Thank goodness for Terry and Johnny Rockets South Beach. We also found the food portions to be very good considering every other place around there tries to give you such small portions. The Sunday drink special of $9.99 for bottomless bloody mary or mimosas is the best deal on Ocean Drive. I can't believe that they don't have more signage letting people know this.

Food was very good and decently priced... Under 10 bucks for my sandwich and about 4 for fries...and then the cheese fries with bacon were like 8 bucks. Good stuff...

After drinking and drinking on South beach we needed to get something to absorb the liquor. We walked around Collins ave and down Ocean drive but did not want to eat at the restaurants on the strip because we know the game, too high priced for little food. So we settled on Johnny Rockets ..it was feet away from our hotel. The service was prompt and friendly ..even at midnight. We both had the bacon cheese burger and a plate of fries. The price was right, had a good time refueling and people watching.

  • Stephie P.

Pretty good food for inexpensive price. Nothing healthy or special about the menu. I did have a butterfinger milkshake which was delicious also expensive at $7! The crispy chicken ranch salad was really filling and tasty. The chilly nachos and cheese burger were ok, I prefer more of a homemade type vs a super processed fake food. Our server was nice. As mentioned in other reviews, the location is right in the middle of all the action directly across from south beach. So it is a bit loud and distracting for a toddler and a dog.

The perfect place to stop and people watch on Ocean Drive. Whilst many restaurants try to get you in with 2-4-1 offers and specials and people trying to get you in, Johnny Rockets doesn't need all that, their food speaks for itself. I had some chilli cheese fries and the Miami squealer burger which is a 1/3 pound burger with cheese in a sour dough bun. It was perfectly cooked and really juicy. I had a beer, but my friend had one of their legendary milkshakes which are like a meal on their own! Our total bill including tip was $70 for 3 people, worth it for the comfortable seats from which to people watch, let alone the delicious food!!

Inexpensive in South Beach. Location of Johnny Rockets is perfect, right across from the beach. They serve typical American diner food...burgers and fries, etc. I had a chocolate milkshake which was awesome. If you're going to try anything here, I recommend a milkshake. It was delicious, not too sweet, and had just the right consistency. I also had cheese fries and a veggie burger. Johnny Rockets has veggie burgers, who knew!?! They serve Boca brand burgers which not bad but aren't my favorite. My cheese fries were the perfect blend of crispy and melty goodness. Service was good. Thanks Cindy!

  • Kristiel O.

I gave this place three stars because of their beer special. Five beers for 18 bucks. Not a bad deal for a South Beach restaurant. So if you're at the beach and want to have a few beers to start your day, tgis is the place for you. I dont recommend eating here though. Food is super greasy amd salty.

Pros: 1. Good food and great atmosphere. We were looking for somewhere affordable go eat on Ocean Drive and I'm picky when it comes to new places because you never know if you're going to like it and could be wasting your money. We did stay safe about it, but it was good. 2. Great service and food came out quick! 3. Love the outdoor seating! Cons: 1. The server tries to talk you into adding additional stuff to your burger or fries which I get it's her job to try to upsell, but she should say, "Would you like to add an egg, bacon, ect for an extra 75 cents?" Because i went back and forth with her to get her to tell me there was an extra charge for that stuff. It was like pulling teeth.

This Johnny Rockets in Miami, FL is fantastic! Great service! Great food! Great people! It's a pleasure coming here because after a splash in the ocean and tan in the sun, I come to this Johnny rockets to get a quick delicious bite! The waiters here are nice and funny! Come with your meal fast, with a dance to the "Cupid Shuffle" or any other hip old song. Reasonable prices for burgers and beers, never get tired of this place and it's burgers! I highly recommend the Philly cheese steak and the traditional Cheese burger with a side of hot fries or shake! There's everything and anything for the whole family. So if your by south beach or just driving around, come to this Johnny Rockets!

When a friend and I arrived at Johnny's we wanted to sit inside because we didn't wanna deal with ppl walking by if sitting on the sidewalk but once we walk in the door we walk right back out! The smell inside was awful it smelled like sewer water.. Once we were seated outside we had to wait a while since the waiters walking by would ignore us, the manager seemed to notice and took our order.. Everything began to be okay until we get a plate of fries taken away since the manager thought we were finished -__-

    (2)
  • Armando G.

The service was decent, after the manager had to come to take my order. He was very friendly. The time it took to get service though was a little disappointing. We had about 4 or 5 waiters pass my table and not one asked if we were being helped. After when we were close to finishing they took our fries before we were ready to leave.

Walked in to grab a bite to eat since we headed to the beach without breakfast . At first I was getting upset as no one came to give us menus or welcome us and others who sat after us already had menus. After a few minutes our waitress came and she was great. She took our orders and was quick to bring us our water. We had order two shakes which came after we were done with our food which wasn't alright but I didn't say anything as our waitress apologize a couple of times. Burgers were big and juicy. No complaints there. The atmosphere was fun as it faces the street and we were watching the people passing by observing the art deco festival. As I said in my tag line, found the place to be pricy they even added a Miami Beach tax. Overall ok experience!

    (4)
  • Jill C.

Reasonable and delicious. The staff is great and accommodating. I will be eating here again. Directly across from the beach/ocean. Prices are reasonable too. I brought my 4 kids and the bill wasn't bad at all. The staff smile and I'm blown away by their kindness. I recommend totally!

    (5)
  • Jessica K.

Very good service and yummy food! I was surprised that the chicken wings were deep fried though yet they tasted good. The booths are very nice and you got a good view of the street. Milkshakes were divine. And yes a little pricy because of location. Good people watching place!

  • Fregilia L.

I had never heard of this place before but I was starving and they were inexpensive. They were super packed since it was Memorial Day weekend but that didn't have any effect on the rate that our food came out. They were pretty quick about bringing out food. I have definitely had better burgers and fries. I wasn't impressed with the food at all but it wasn't the worst I have had either.

I love JOHNNY ROCKETS it's the best place in the world to get shakes.I went to JOHNNY ROCKETS in Miami Beach and had dinner burgers and shakes are amazing

The shakes are really good, and the burgers was like medium good. The service wasn't fantastic, and the place was dirty. The old-time stile fits with Ocean Drive, but please clean the staff and the place...

You can't beat a cheap meal. Can't go wrong w a quick bfast & for 3.99$ on ocean drive is a steal. It's not a classy meal but come on pancakes eggs and bacon mmm... Save some money for drinks later and have a quick bfast here.

Close to my hotel, great breakfast deal and not insanely busy. I had a nice breakfast after laying out on the beach. The service was good the food was decent and the price was right. I got coffee, eggs, toast, potatoes and bacon for $3.99 that's a steal considering everything else on South Beach is expensive.

  • Megan M.

Mmmmm milk shakes and burgers and hot dogs and fries...OHMY! I love love love Johnny Rockets. And this Johnny Rockets is especially great. Everyone's dressed to the T in gear from the 50s. All they're missing are the roller skates delivering food up to car windows. Really friendly service and awesome music in the background. I really wanted a CD made of the songs. One of the best tuna melts I've had...although kind of expensive for a small sandwich with no fries. The $6.50 specialty shakes are delicious, but also an extra dollar or two than I think you should have to pay. They're tricky and ask if you want to combine flavors, but then don't tell you that it's extra to do so. But if you are to get a shake...Strawberry and Oreo is the way to go. Although a chain, this should definitely be a lunch spot for one of your days in Miami. Or at 3AM, since it's open that late. I'm sure their chili dogs taste amazing at that time. This spot is more of an experience than other JRs I've been to.

    (5)
  • Taniesha E.

I enjoyed what I ordered but I am not in "love" with the place. The seating area both inside and out were packed. I was surprised since I had just gotten off work and it was pretty late still. Compared to a johnny rockets in WA, I would say that this one is much better just because you dont have to walk through a mall to get to one!

    (3)
  • Mark G.

Yeah so if you can get over the 'strip' at SoBe (yeah, that's slang for South Beach - I'm diggin the slang around here) then it isn't that bad of a place. It sort of reminds me of a 70's diner - even though I was wasn't really around in the 70's. My wife and I went there to get a shake - and the shake was pretty good. We also got an order of half fries, half onion rings - it was just a-ok in my book. Nothing too great about them, but they weren't bad either. So they barely get 3 stars in my book, but 3 stars none the less.

    (3)
  • Teresa G.

I stopped at Johnny Rockets after walking around SoBe for several hours..I really just needed to sit down and take a load off for a little while. Anyhow, my server was Stephanie and she was great. She was very friendly, and attentive. I wanted to try one of the spiked milkshakes and Stephanie suggested the Oreo Kaluha...OMG it was sooo yummy! It was very rich though and I couldn't finish it all, but totally worth it.

  • This place is awesome, travel back to the 1950`s in style with the waiters dressed for the part, even there are some old fashion 1950`s automobiles around here, great fast food joint, fries and burger come plenty and very good quality, tables and chairs outside as well inside, air conditioned, order at the table and thats all folks, recommend the burger with fries every time.

Food was the usual. Service was SLOW. If you're in a hurry, ask for your bill with your food. But the dancing waiter made up for it in the end.

So I was in South Beach for New Years with my home girls and we ate at Johnny Rockets twice but only because they have this one burger that is "FIE" and we couldn't resist. This place would probably get 4 or 5 star if it wasn't for the service which is horrible. They just recently added liquor to the menu but the drinks were like koolaid and even though I'm a lightweight I got absolutely no buzz off anything there. And what's worse is that the 18% gratuity is automatically added to whatever you buy. YES FOLKS 18% on EVERYTHING!!!!! So please be sure not to leave an extra tip because they will not inform you that it's already included. I can't say I wont visit again but I def wont be drinking the liquor or expeciting good service. In fact I think I wil ljust get it to go.

I'm giving this restaurant 2 stars merely based on 2 things. 1. It's a blast to people watch from there at night and 2. It's open very late. Other than that the food is TERRIBLE.

a burger joint with milk shakes, beer and other american junk food right on the beach? yes! what i liked is that the whole street was mostly italian, and south american/latin food so this place stood out. this place was just the plain old good stuff. i was traveling solo in miami for business and well i really didn't feel like sitting down by myself and eating a nice italian dinner with all these other couples around me. came here, got a philly cheese, onion rings, and a beer sat down and swallowed it all down.*BURB, now that hit the spot!

Ok, me being from the state Johnny Rockets was established (California) AND it being my favorite burger joint, i wouldve automatically given it 5 stars just walking up to it. However, this specific location's food was no bueno! i wont speak for Johnny Rockets all over Miami FL, just this one. i could already tell itd be different as soon as we got seated. In Cali, your server starts you off with a nickel per person so that you can choose a song at your table's jukebox (or pocket the 5 cents if you wish haha). Now the service was good, but this is all about the food quality. I ordered the single smokehouse burger and chili cheese fries. My fries came out first (first timers at J. Rocs, dont be alarmed, everything comes out separately, the waiter didnt forget the rest of your food haha). I shook my head as i looked at the fries. back home, the cheese is usually grated cheese, THIS was processed (a.k.a nacho cheese). I sucked it up and ate them because i was really hungry. My burger was ok but not great like usually. It was hot BUT it wasnt juicy like it supposed to be. I dunno, i guess not every franchise follows the guidelines J.Rocs stands for. If you've never experienced J. Rocs, you'd probably love it. Just know that everything is bought separate, there are no meals/combinations. But for people who have had it at it's best, steer clear away from here.

this place is always packed... god know why when there's tons of other tasty places around?! hell, any place is better than this. go to fridays at least. i agree the milkshakes are decent (the only thing), but it's not worth exposing myself to all that is johnny rockets. uugh! screaming kids, rude waiters that are obviously hating life, and horrible burgers. sounds like fun!!!

Not the best burger I ever had. It was a little less than average. The bun was a little dry and the burger was over cooked. The server was dry as well. I don't think I'll come back here.

Loud for kids. Yes, anytime of the day it's loud on Ocean Drive! You sit right next to the street to see all the wonderful cars that cruise by slowly. It's great people watching here. You sit on the sidewalk and people walk by continuously. The fries and chocolate malt are always very good! Make sure you try a chocolate malt with double malt. The burger I had was decent and the Crispy chicken salad my wife had was good too. We'll be back Johnny!

This place is the worst. Awful, rude service, with less than average quality food. It smelled terrible. Our waitress was rude... Rude... Rude. This is the worst restaurant experience I've ever had. We asked for a manager, and one never came to our table. Instead, I had to go look for one, only to be told that I must be mistaken. My visit was actually a little while ago, but the lasting impression of how horrendous this place was caused me to write this review. DO NOT GO HERE. I would give them zero stars if I could.

TERRIBLE! I waited about 15 minutes for service. A server came by and finally noticed me after I waved him down. He gave me a menu and told me it wasn't his table. He called out a waiter to let them know I was waiting then I waited another 10 minutes. This was poor service, so I left .

Johnny Rockets is a classic for me bc I'm from Los Angeles...it's a favorite. I ordered here and my entire order was wrong. The environment was chaotic with employees telling at each other and it smelled strongly like vomit. Had Potential to be delicious if I hadn't decided to get food elsewhere after all of that and my order being wrong.

Good foo, great frozen drinks. Came for my boyfriends birthday vacation. Staff was super friendly, we ate there probably half the time we were around the area.

So of course we have a Johnny Rockets in California but they do not sell alcohol. The drinks at this Johnny rockets were STRONG and soooo good! I ordered a strawberry mojito and left drunk! Aaron from Chi-Town was our server and we loved him! He was attentive and he had great conversation. He had a "can do" attitude and we left full and happy!! We were seated very quickly although it looked like they were PACKED! Definitely stop by Johnny Rockets on Ocean Blvd for great service and great food!

Server: Dominique was amazing. Had to give her a special out. We all know how yummy the food is here. She just made it more pleasant.

Not much to say about Johnny Rockets. This was a random pit stop at around 2:30am along Ocean Drive since my boyfriend was craving for some french fries after all that liquor we drank. He also ordered a chicken sandwich, which was absolutely dry and plain. The margarita was decent but nothing too special. 2 stars for our waitress!

Loved it! Was good food and definitely one of the most reasonably priced places considering the location and other restaurant prices. Good service too! Loved our waiter, very outgoing and interested in where we were from and carrying a nice conversation. Friendly staff. Would like to visit again one day.

Not really impressed by this place. The atmosphere is pretty ridiculous, and the staff seem to be running around with their heads cut off. We had the wrong food come to our table twice. It's very hot, even if you're in the area that is supposed to be "inside". The menu doesn't have prices for whatever reason... and the food took very long to arrive. I wasn't very blown away by the food either, it was pretty basic, not very exciting. I would even say Denny's is better.

This is really a pity of a burger joint. I cringe to think of days I enjoyed burgers here, not knowing there was better flavor, softer bread, and at a lower cost just right around the corner (Shake Shack on Lincoln Rd). I think the burger was something like $6-7. It was bone dry. The fries aren't anything exciting. The service is friendly, but not really efficient. One of our burgers came without the stuff we wanted and with the stuff we didn't. Meh. Not going back.

Food was fine. The service was poor and the advertised 21oz drink was.10oz and $16.00!

I needed some food on my stomach and I should have kept walking. The waitress was very helpful but all in all, the Philly and fries wasn't that special. And talk about sticker shock! I had a water, Philly, and fries and spent $20. I missed the 18% tip added to the bill and accidentally tipped again. Bummer!

Not bad for my first ever Johnny Rockets visit. The only thing that I knew about Johnny Rockets beforehand was that the place was well known for the burgers and milkshakes. Guess what I ended up having? Yep, you guessed it: a burger and a shake. I sure couldn't turn down a vanilla milkshake at that. Both were good additions to my stomach at the time. One thing that I will note is the great customer service I had. The waitress who served me was extremely polite and courteous. I feel that made my experience that much better. I recommend going to this place early in the day (especially on Ocean Drive) as this restaurant tends to get crowded during the afternoon.

Awesome milkshakes. Oreo milkshake with Kahlua....what more can you say? Didn't eat the food there, so can't speak to that. It's right on Ocean Drive at the hotel from Scarface, so it's just kind of a fun place in general. Definitely better than some of the other restaurants just stuck along the sidewalk there.

The shakes are to die for !! Peanut butter and chocolate is better than sex !! ( well , some times :) ) The burgers and fries and hot dawgs are excellent, couldn't ask for more, a friendly family style place on the ocean, its heaven.
