Francisco’s Mexican Restaurant Menu

This restaurant has become much busier since its raving review in the local paper. I hate to sound like a hipster, but we ate there before it was cool. (Well, the food is hot, so I guess it's never cool). My husband always has the same simple meat & bean dish. I like to explore the menu, which occasionally has items added or removed. The cactus salad is no longer on the menu. :( The salsa is always fresh. The guacamole has way too many onions for my taste, which has been carefully calibrated by Publix brand guacamole (non-spicy). I have never eaten anything here that wasn't in the range of 'really good' to 'gut-busting fabulous'. My absolute favorite is the chicken & rice soup, which is much more filling than one would think. Francisco's is a traditional Mexican restaurant. One goes for the relaxed atmosphere as well as the food. Depending on staffing and the crowd, one may be seated & fed very quickly, or one may have a leisurely, laid back, slowly-paced meal. Not really your choice, so don't come when you are starving and haven't eaten for 3 days because of your latest 'cleanse'. This is not a 'Mexican Chain' themed, Disneyworld 'experience'. Expect low-key Mexican influenced decor, discreet Mexican background music, and the staff speaking to each other in Spanish. No one is going to wear a sombrero for you, schedule a mariachi band for your birthday, or yell, "Ay Ay Ay! Caliente!" On the other hand, no one's stray cat is giving birth on the food prep table, so it has that going for it. (Swear to God, authentic Mexican experience in Mexico....we ate elsewhere). Desserts range from sopapillas and flan (that's a range of two). I have only eaten here for dinner, so I cannot comment on lunch. I have invited friends to meet me here on various occasions, and all of them loved it (so far, 9 people I can reliably recall). Very popular with families with children on the weekends. Very casual decor that is sometimes less than perfectly sanitized. I wouldn't go here on a first date or for a business luncheon, but for families, couples or just on one's own, it's terrific. It's a family business; there are sometimes 3 generations present on any given night.

Fabulous! I don't know what "real" mexican food is supposed to taste like so I'm not judging based on authenticity, I just know what taste good. First of the salsa was spicy in a can't get enough sort of way. The rice and beans were both delicious and as a mere side item that is in itself impressive. I had the taquitoes and they were steaming hot, crispy, flaky, and I want more even though I am stuffed. My husband had the burrito and man that thing was huge and stuffed. No word from him as he steadily shoveled it in. The only draw back was I was in the mood for a margarita and they only serve beer and wine.

Greeted immediately and sat quickly. Ordered margaritas which were so disgusting, we both refused to drink them. I had tortilla soup which was very tasty....date had a burrito which was blah as he described it. Did tell them margaritas were undrinkable and they took them off bill. Employees were friendly but food and drink dont warrant a return visit.

Really good food, however a bit expensive side. However their happy hour has dirt cheap mexican beers on draught. The staff is excellent and friendly. Great for a date.

One word... EW If you can get past the sticky floors, ripped booths, filthy menus, and dirty cups and silver then maybe you can consume some mediocre, relatively unsettling, and overall taste-less mexican cuisine... Just saying... I'd skip it

I"ve been back to Fransico's since my first review and I have to say... I am hooked on their pork carnitas, a traditional Mexican dish. It's a slow-cooked pork cut into bite size pieces served with rice and beans and a tomatillo sauce that is exquisite. Get the corn tortillas to make a wrap and you will be transported to flavor heaven. This is a definite reccomended dish!

I had Camarones al Mojo de Ajo garlic shrimp in butter onion and mushrooms served with rice and beans. My husband had the Small combo burrito & taco served with rice & beans. Everything was great the waiter was very funny. But the Margarita are not very good. Think maybe mine was served in a warm glass.

Best Mexican food in and around Melbourne. My hubby & I just moved here from VA and thought we would have to settle for crappy Mexican but then we found Francisco's, yay!! The decor is nothing fancy but the service and food are fabulous! My husband loves the flautas and I get either a bean burrito or a chicken chimichanga...All are delicious and authentic, which is so refreshing since everywhere else we tried in the area were just sad attempts.

The food is definitely authentic. Francisco is a very nice man who bustles around the store and chats with guests. The salsa is really good and not too spicy. Everything I've tried has been delicious. The sopapillas are not the kind I'm used to, but they are good. They're deep fried flour tortillas, with cinnamon, sugar, and maple syrup.

Just returned and as a fat guy, i have never left my plate full...until today. Change the grease in the fryers and drain the grease in your beef. Horrendous

I almost feel I shouldn't write this but This is my best kept secret. Try to go to dinner and it will be packed ( for good reason ) but perfect for a lunch date , the guac and chips are perfect everytime. No skimping on the cheese here. By far the best mexi food in town. Clean, good service , small dining room all make for the perfect date.

After reading the reviews, I decided to give this a try for lunch during a weekday. I got there at 11:30 and I was the first one in the place. It was a stormy day, and the location is sort of tucked away for that plaza. The service was good. My waitress was attentive, but I'm pretty low-maintenance to begin with. I like that they included some type of bean dip along with the salsa for the chips. Chips were good. Salsa bowl is a bit small but I was on my own so it was an adequate amount. Hard to fit a full-size tortilla chip into it, though. Salsa itself was good, and appeared made fresh. Nice big pieces of onion in it, finely chopped herbs, spicy but didn't blow your head off. I really enjoyed the salsa. I ordered the asada tacos authenticos. The steak was very good. The tortilla was almost crepe-like, but I think that's probably more authentic than the usual flour or corn tortillas you get at Tex-Mex places. Next time I will just get carne asada. The tacos were good, but it's the meat I'm after, not the wrapper! They were heavy on cilantro and onions, but I like both. Each taco (3) came with a lime wedge, which I used. Another reviewer mentioned the guacamole had a lot of onions in it. It does. I love onions, so this isn't a problem for me, but if you're not keen, just be aware of that. Some large chunks of avocado in it, too, so this leads me to believe they are making their own daily. It was very good guacamole. I skipped the rice and just got beans. Good refried beans. Most people seem to either rate everything they didn't hate 5-stars (or the opposite, and can never be pleased, and will always give 1-2 stars). I am a hard but fair reviewer, so please don't think 3-stars is a low score from me. I only gave it 3-stars because it didn't blow my socks off (yet). I don't have any complaints at all, I just wasn't "wowed". I have a distinct feeling that I will be raising my rating by at least a star after I get the regular carne asada. I will definitely be going back.

Ta weno! Not anything bad to say about this place. They have micheladas y tacos de carne asada. If your looking for legit Mexican food. This is the place. Highly recommended! I'm from Arizona y Mexicano American so I definitely am selective with my Mexican food. It's almost as good as abuelas cooking and up there with moms.

The salsa was pretty runny, def not the best I've ever had. We started with the sampler appetizer, it was delicious and a TON of food. I ordered the chimichanga, it was just ok. My husband had a burrito and said it was pretty good. The place was clean and the service was great. Overall a decent place to eat while we were in town but I wouldn't be regular if I lived there.

The best tamales ever!! Homemade and can't be beat!! Spinach enchiladas are super. The food is fresh and the chips are served hot. The servers are attentive and willing to offer a suggestion if asked. I have been coming here for years and have never had a bad dish! The salsa is perfectly done. I am one happy former New Mexican! The other restaurants in town are no fiesta if you get my drift :)

When I was a boy I would go to my fathers restaurant in Los Angeles which served the best Mexican food I have ate in a restaurant to date. The women in my family made the best Mexican food I have ever ate, had to give them props. Since birth I have had incredible Mexican food here in the states and all over Mexico. I would say that I probably know what I'm talking about when it comes to Mexican food, yes tooting my own horn, but heck, why not. I go to Francisco's often, mostly for lunch. One big reason I like this restaurant is because it is the only one in the area which serves Horchata. Now for you that know about Horchata and love it as much as I do you know there is good Horchata and bad Horchata. Here the Horchata is great. The food is very good and you will find many familiar dishes here with some very tasty authentic dishes too. They just added some more dishes recently. The tacos authentico is to die for. Today I got an enchilda, taco, and chile relleno. All were very good especially the relleno which most restaurants in the area don't do very well at all. The staff is superb and very attentive with ordering and refills. When you are looking for a good Mexican lunch or dinner, skip the chain restaurants in town and go for Francisco's.

I've been on a total Mexican kick lately, getting to be as bad as Starbucks. While in Melbourne FL, decided to make a second round visit to Francisco's right on Wickham. Once again did not regret, great trip. Small quaint family owned and operated restaurant, Francisco himself actually waited on us. His wife I believe is also on the floor helping customers and grandpa gets up from time to time to make rounds to see if you need anything else..it's fun to experience. Last visit I ordered the carnitas and it delivered spot on to what I was looking for. Crisp and most, it's simple stuff but hard to get just right and they did. This time I decided on the carne asada. Nice size cut of skirt steak, well marinated and cooked, topped of with a roasted jalapeno (nice touch). It came with rice, beans, guacamole and pico de gallo. They were all tasty, well cooked and well appreciated. It wasn't spicy but the flavor was all there. Went well with the side of flour tortillas (got a half-dozen). I'm always a sucker for flan and got to finally try theirs. To me great flan is somewhere between firm and jiggly in texture. If it's too firm it's almost like cheesecake vs. a custard and too soft it just falls apart. This one was right in the middle. It was terrific. The entire meal of entree, side of tortillas and dessert came under $16 which was a bonus, I would have paid more. This place is now on my list of return spots in Melbourne for Mexican. Thanks Francisco!

Having just moved to the area recently, my husband and I wanted some mexican food for dinner. We saw the good reviews for Francisco's and gave it a whirl. If this is the best mexican food in the area, then we are crap out of luck!! I have never had scrambled eggs as a chile relleno. I coulnd't even tell you what else was on the plate as it was all smashed together and had the eggs over it with some cheese. My husbands dinner had the same thing. Yuck...no thanks!!!!!!

I have to admit, I'm not a big fan of restaurants in strip malls, but Francisco's is a great little find. The chips & salsa were great, and the guacamole was, quite possibly, the best I've ever had. The portions are huge, the food is tasty, and the service was good... enjoy!

This place has really great Mexican food - very authentic! They improved even more when they moved to a smaller space. Their chips and salsa are delicious and they keep those baskets coming. They are consistently good and if you are looking for a good, quick, clean place to eat, then Francisco's is a great, local place. I love the Carne Asada and the tamales! My only complaint is that the rice portions have been pretty small, at times.

Excellent authentic Mexican food. Run by what seems is a family with very friendly service. Very no frills and great portions to never leave you hungry. I will definitely have to stop by for lunch service sometime.

Francisco's is my all time favorite restaurant! I've been looking for a good Mexican restaurant for awhile and this is it!! The staff is very friendly and the food is out quick and is always amazing! My favorite dish is the carne asada. It's so good that I haven't tried another dish! If you're in the mood for Mexican food this is the place!

Their chicken mole was delish, the portions abundant, the staff friendly and attentive -- an all around excellent time --- even when we are not exactly fans of the genre. We would not go for Mexican food anywhere else.

This is a solid little Tex-Mex type of Mexican restaurant. Definitely cheap and always offers friendly service. Pretty typical menu for this sort of restaurant, lots of numbered combos and nothing that would surprise you. It is very clean and the servers are always on their game. While it has pretty much average offerings, everything I have had there has been well cooked and served quickly. And with such good prices, they get a thumbs up from me.

Good neighborhood mexican food. Excellent chips and salsa (whimpy salsa for the lightweights - you just have to ask for the 'baby' salsa. My favorite is their fajita salad. Excellent lunch and early bird specials. My choice for mexican and just across the street from Taco Bell! Excellent to go also.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
