We were very impressed after trying this Trattoria for the first time on Friday. We found this place on yelp and was surprised to find out its location. It is fairly close to us but we had never noticed the restaurant when driving along Van Dyke before. The owners and staff clearly take pride in what they are doing here and it shows with the knowledgable and professional wait staff, sophisticated decor and beautiful food presentation. Not only did it look great, but the quality and flavors were spot on. They have plenty of employees working to make sure their guests are taken care of to the highest standard. The best part about this restaurant is that it is accessible fine dining. It is great to know that there is such a restaurant close to home that is actually affordable. I would recommend this restaurant for any occasion and suggest to make reservations ahead of time. We will definitely be returning.

Love love love this family owned restaurant! A true treasure in the north dale mabry area! Be sure to call ahead to make a reservation because they are always a packed house! From the wood fired pizzas to the freshly made pastas...this restaurant is worth a visit! They are very accommodating to special requests (even requests for kids menu items). Be sure to save room for dessert--- limoncello cake and chocolate pyramid are delicious!

Our friends & I were looking for a fine dining experience that didn't involve driving South of Kennedy Blvd. In Nabruzzi Traattoria we found just that. The food is truly exceptional, beautifully presented by a knowledgeable and pleasant staff. All the dishes we ordered were prepared to perfection & generous in portion size. The server even offered the prices on the "specials" without being prompted which is always nice. We will definitely be returning there again. Make sure you make reservations as it's always packed. If you want a quieter table, ask for the room in the back.

We heard about this place from many of our friends. Great food and lively atmosphere. Crowds make the place a bit noisy. But the live music quiets things down. Definitely worth a visit.

Plain and simple, I am a fan. It is my new favorite Italian restaurant in upper Tampa area. Everything on the menu is made from scratch daily and each dish is better than the next. No matter what dish you select, you will not be disappointed. If a favorite Italian classic dish (such as Chicken Parmesan) is not on the menu, they will happily prepare it for you. The wood-fired pizza are incredible masterpieces made with the finest ingredients. Much like the pastas, the sausage is also made in house. For dinner and some entertainment, sit at the bar and which each masterpiece unfold right before you. The selection of Italian house wines by Candoni are rich, fruity and full of body. A perfect pairing to many of the dishes! Save room for the Tiramisu!

This restaurant presents itself as an upscale Italian restaurant but the food doesn't really match. The prices were steep and the food was just ok. I felt like my orrechetti were swimming in oil and that's all the pasta tasted like. I tried the ossobucco the meat was tender but didn't have too much flavor. The bruschetta was fresh tasting but across the bored the food was lacking. One good thing though was the steak which I think was good because it doesn't need a whole lot of seasoning to speak for itself. We were really really disappointed with our dessert. We ordered an espresso creme brûlée and it was super off putting. The custard was tasty but they either forgot to brûlée the sugar topping or they just serve it sprinkled with turbanato sugar, there was no crunch on the top that makes a creme brûlée a creme brûlée. The service wasn't all that great either, our waiter seemed to avoid our table once we placed our orders and my drink glass was left empty for far too long, I was constantly trying to flag him down or if I did tell him he would forget. I don't think I'll be back here again any time soon.

Another wonderfully delicious dining experience Last week we brought friends from N Y to visit our fabulous local Italian flavor Ordered the Osso bucca with fresh Orchetta pasta with fresh sausage sauce Fresh pasta appetizer with seafood So much delicious food was ordered that Mossimo came out of the kitchen to check out this ravenous table The service was stellar and the food divine!!! portions are generous so you may have to stop eating and save some or share at the table.

Pleasantly surprised. When you walk inside it looks more like a salon and then you go towards the seating and then you see the typical macaroni grill set up with the papers on the tables. In my opinion that works coz then the cleanup is so simple. They had beautiful pictures of Italy on the wall and a few masks to represent Carnivale towards the back end. It is a pretty spacious restaurant and most of the parties there were groups of 6 or more. Took my dad here for Father's day and tried a lot of different things. The bruschetta was fresh and bigger than I had thought. They put this dipping sauce on the table and I don't even know what's in it but I ate it all. The calamari did not impress me though, for the amount you pay you dont' exactly get much, they were ok I just wish I had more than 2 pieces. The mussels were drowning in a yummy garlic sauce and topped with bacon. Yum! I had a glass of wine and the pour was very hearty. For our meals: My dad had the ossobuco, he's a bit of a critic but the minute he went to tear the pieces off he was excited to see that it just feel off the bone. It was accompanied by small potatoes but seems like a pasta would have been better. It was very good and enough to feed 2 people. Another got the veal porkchop medium. It came out perfectly and for $42 was a decent cut of steak. Another got the Orichette genovese... he said it tasted well but the portion was definitely not up to 'Italian' standards and was served in a bowl the same size as a split meal. Pasta is cheap isn't it? The finance and I split the seafood pasta platter and that was totally splitable for 2 people. It was a bit on the pricey side $38 but there were bits and pieces of lobster, mussels, clams, shrimp and scallop included. We ended with dessert. One cannoli and one espresso creme bruleeThe cannoli was so rich and sweet it had huge chocolate chips. I'm a creme brulee freak and I get it whenever I see it on the menu no matter how full I am. I was pretty disappointed when they brought out this little bowl and the sugar was clearly visable... as it was not 'bruleed' I wanted to wait a bit til the waiter came to check on us but after 10 minutes of waiting and it was already closing time I said forget it let's eat it and go... The espresso creme part was very good but I'm still trying to figure out if it was supposed to be burnt or left as sugar on top.... The waiter came back dropped off the check and disappeared again so I never got to ask him. We will be back because we didn't even get to try the pizzas out yet.

Celebrated our Dance Choreographer and Mentor's birthday at this lovely place. You won't going to imagine that this little plaza have this gem. This place is simple but elegant. Our service was very nice and having big group she had the patience to wait for the rest of the group to arrive and to present their menu. They served bread while looking at their menu. Got undecided because everything is amazing, I ended ordering the Tagliatelle Alla Vodka. Our server guaranteed that I made the right choice. And to tell you honestly I DID! The pasta is made fresh and the sauce was creamy and rich with flavor. The service was amazing, they made sure that everything is well served as you pleased and the food is spectacular. This place is a GEM! Hands up and definitely will come back for more! Kudos!

This is one of the Best Italian restaurants I have ever been. The food is excellent and it's all fresh, don't forget to eat Frutti Di Mare Pasta, it's excellent and the best Calamari fritte ever... I think I've finally found my slice of "Italian Food Heaven" in Florida. Moving from the New York area, my biggest complaint about the Tampa area has been the lack of REAL Italian food. Luckily this place opened about a month ago, and I can't say enough good things about it. Reservations are definitely recommended on Friday and Saturday nights as the host was quick to point out how busy they've been. Now I know why! The food is delicious! I could eat their Chicken Toscano everyday if I could. I had a taste of my GF's pasta/ Sausage dish ( Can't remember the name of it) and that tasted just as good. We sat near their Brick Oven pizza bar so naturally got to see some of the many varieties of pizzas that they have. Needless to say, pizza is what I'll be ordering next time! Choosing which speciality pizza will be the difficult part. Service was very friendly and we never had to go a long period time when we needed another drink or additional silverware. Each meal is made to order so you may be waiting on your meal a little longer than a typical restraint, but it's totally worth it! Just writing this is making me hungry! Might have to get some pizza now!

The food was delicious, service was great, everything is made to order from scratch. We had the Fiocchi di Enzo appetizer, which was a collection if pear pastries, for dinner we had the Tagliatelle alla Vodka and Pollo fiorentine. They bring fresh, warm bread with olive oil and variety of crushed olives with sun-dried tomato dip. Soup of the day was Lentil, and a salad comes with each entree. Everything was homemade and served piping hot. Definitely will go back. Oh and how can I forget......Canolli for dessert. Excellent!!!

This place is on pointe from food, to atmosphere, to service. I have been to Italy and this is the best Italian food I've had since I left. My BF and I went there for a special night so we got the works from a bottle of wine to dessert, but they have plenty of options if you are looking for a less extravagant evening as well. Their pizza bar, surrounding a real brick oven looks promising and I'm sure we will try it soon!

No words to describe the appetizer we had except "a bouquet of flavors from a true Italian chef". Fiocchi Di Enzo An absolute must order (8 to an order). Having the pizza Americano with sausage and pepperoni from the wood for pizza oven and Jenn is having Orrechiette Genovese.

I wish I could give more than five stars, because this is one of those rare find that you want to gush about. Open only since August 2014, this family run and authentic trattoria will win your heart and tastebuds. We were attending a group dinner in their semi private room which holds up to 30. Warmly greeted at the door you first enter a dimly lit and romantic yet slightly bustling dining room. There is small bar comfortable enough to dine at and a tempting specials blackboard with daily temptations. You definitely want to call ahead for reservations as this is not a well kept secret, they wre having to delicately turn away several hopeful diners as all the tablea were spoken for, and this was only midweek! We had two servers for our group and and I also cannot say enough about the service! Chris and Chris were very knowledgeble about the menu and speedy while keeping a great sense of humor and professionalism. One of the owners made his way around checking on everything and we noticed any minor issues were quickly resolved with a smile. Then there was the food... how on earth can anyone make a decision! First, they had a great wine list...lots of Beautiful Italian options fit for any size wallet as well as a nice selection of California and Oregon vinos too. They have a beautiful selection of appetizers, salads and soups ans serve a nice peppery tpenade with the bread service. Almost all the pasts are homemade and you can tell with the way they melt in your mouth. There is also pizza, veal, chicken and beef dishes. Although, I don't know if I cn ever go back without getting the same amazing dish over and over again. Homemade tagliatelle pasta in a creamy bacon and onion sauce with a hint of tomato -plus Chris recommended adding the panko crusted chicken. The portion was generous to say the least. The flavors were a perfect blend and tht chicken never once lost its delicate crunch. The presentation of everyone's plates were nothing short of gorgeous! Each plate exceeded the last in design, shape, and thoughtful use of sauces and garnish. Truly the platters were pieces of art. Be sure to check this place out and save me a seat!!!

Spectacular food and exceptional service. I highly recommend: - Cozze Fiorenza - Caesar Insalata - How can something so simple be so different from everywhere else? - Orrechiette Genovese - Big enough to split, but so incredible that you won't want to. - Frutti de Mare - Espresso Creme Brûlée - YOU MUST. The entrees are pure creations - a perfect blend of spices and textures! The service alone sets this place apart (it's family owned and we love coming in). Plus they are incredibly helpful with allergies, since they make almost everything from scratch (plus my fiancé, who is not gluten-free, swears the g-free pasta is some of the best). Great wine list, romantic atmosphere, well-priced, and totally worth the twenty minute drive from South Tampa.

They want you to make a reservation as we walked in off the street for 1st time. The calamari was tiny pcs & the cherry peppers over powered the poor little guys with vinegar! Fresh peppers would of been much better . As for the up charged Ceasar salads they were over powered by the fresh lemon juice. Service was slow, except when it came time to swipe my card . I can keep going but I don't like doing so. Make your own opinion but our $70+ bill was not worth it.

Went when they first opened after hearing good reviews from friends, we ordered beef carpaccio which was good. Had a scallop dish which was very fresh tasting and seasoned perfectly. Scallops were cooked spot on. Finished with a pizza which they bake in a wood oven, that has small bar around located in view of table. Pizza was very good perfect crust, very good sauce and cheese, baked perfectly. We have been back multiple times have had daily fish, chicken and veal entrees all of which were presented very nicely, were fresh and tasted very good. Can tell they put effort in to try the food they are cooking, making sure it all comes out good. Service has been inconsistent at times which is the only fault. The desserts are very good especially the tiramisu.

I ordered some dishes for pick up, a Caesar salad, beef carpaccio, and tiramisu. I don't want to be negative but the quality was not what I expected. The carpaccio was mostly arugula. Location is convenient however.

Incredibly delicious!!! Really enjoyed meeting the owner and appreciate the time he took to tell us a little about his background. Food was authentic and truly delicious. ONLY negative is the server who seemed to lose interest or be able to keep up though he only had 4 tables.. Thank goodness staff around him were attentive

I had heard only wonderful things about this new restaurant, so I desperately wanted to try it. We took a chance and went on my dads birthday. I wanted to treat him to a nice dinner. We were not disappointed. The ambience of the restaurant was beautiful. Dimly lit, soft live music and pretty quiet for such a small place. We made reservations in advance, so we did not have to wait to be seated. The service was excellent. We were even greeted by the chef several times throughout the dinner. The food was amazing and original. The planting was a treat as well. They were very accommodating to my mom who is Gluten Intolerant. Though they didn't offer a GF option for dessert, the chef promised he is working on one right now & it will be available in a couple of months. Overall, this is a "must-go" review. We will be back. See pics of our beautiful food.

The BEST Italian food outside NYC. Great service, fantastic menu and wine list. The osso bucco was phenomenal and the portion was extremely generous. Will go there again and again and again. Highly recommend.

I really wanted to like this restaurant. I went specifically for the wood fired oven pizza. It was not good. I'm a real Napolitano snob so if t doesn't taste like the real thing from Naples Italy, or close to it, I won't like it. ... not even close (btw, Bavaro's in downtown Tampa has the right thing.) Nabruzzi is close to me. The ceasar salad and the Tagliatelle Alla Vodka were both uninspiring. The restaurant itself is very nice. Our waiter was great. The prices were very reasonable. (Poor waiter had to listen to me tell him what was wrong with the pizza. he asked and wanted to know). On the way out, my dinner date said she thought the huge beautiful pizza oven was just a show oven... I didn't think so. Maybe? I will go back and try again.

By far one of my favorite restaurants in north Tampa. The food is so fresh and delicious! Met the owners tonight and they were super nice as well! I have been here multiple times and never walked out without cleaning my plate. I have ordered the pollo con foucco every time I love the spicy kick to it!! Next time I will have to switch it up for sure

Wanted to say a quick "Thank You" to the owners and management of this new neighborhood restaurant. They were quick to respond on my previous review and were respectful to some small criticism in food presentation and service. I'm looking forward to dinning there again!

Inspiring! This family-owned Italian restaurant is on Van Dyke near Veterans/Suncoast Expressway. They feature homemade pasta with fresh ingredients. Fiocchi di Enzo is a excellent start with a line of tortellini type pasta filled with cheeses and pears and accompanied by several flavorful sauce gracing the dish. This and other appetizers run $7-9. Each entree comes with the soup of the day or salad. I tried the salad which was plentiful and fresh. Entrees range from fresh made pasta to pork, chicken, seafood, veal and beef. ($13-25) I tried a bolognese simmered simmered pork special of the day with tender, succulent pork and mushroom with al dente pasta. It was simply fantastic. Most specials are around $25. The hand tossed thin crust pizza is perfectly crisp and reminds me of delectable New York style pizza. The pizza and dough are prepared right out in the open. The service was friendly, knowledgeable and excellent. The have a nice wine list with wines by the glass including port as well. This a great place for a date, a family gathering or evening with friends. A reservation may be helpful as it stays very busy all evening. Definitely put Nabruzzi Trattoria on your list for a special night out! This will be a new favorite!!

What a jem of a restaurant in an unlikely place! My teenager wanted to do the usual Macaroni Grill, but I found this Trattoria on Yelp and it turned out to be a short drive up the road on the Veteran a block or two off the highway. It was packed at 7:45 on Wednesday night. We were warmly greeted by the owner, who is very hands on at reception to manage the seating and direct the flow. Trattoria has a moderately large selection of unique wines by the glass and the bottle. The single serve Salade Rustica was large enough for two and nicely plated with small mozzarella balls precisely placed along the side. The pasta is homemade on premises and cooked al dente just like pasta in Italy. We are vegetarians and the server was eagerly accommodating to eliminate meat in the entrées. Fresh is an understatement for the tangy tomato sauce. The Orienchetta was our favorite - perfectly seasoned and extremely flavorful! We will be back for sure.

Real Italian food hidden with Lutz! Absolutely delicious food with a great owner. One very hard drawback to get past... They are always extremely busy! My parents and I had an hour long wait before being seated. Thankfully, the food was worth the wait, but eating after 9pm when we arrived at 7 can be a little off putting. I ended up ordering two appetizers for dinner: Fiocchi di Enzo and the Carpaccio. Both were good, but let me tell you about the Fiocchi di Enzo! It was like a little ball of heavenly goodness that burst when you bit into it. The pasta was fresh and soft, while the pear added just enough of crunch and the perfect amount of sweetness to take the dish from good to great! My advice to anyone looking to try Nabruzzi Trattoria, MAKE A RESERVATION, and your best bet is to plan a casual night with friends over a glass of wine and great food. Coming from an Italian background myself, this may be my new favorite spot to get Italian food in the States. Grazie e salute!

Great little restaurant had just the right amount of tables to feel cozy. The decor lacks imagination but the food more than makes up. The presentation of my risotto with seared scallops and steak was thought out with sauce layered across the plate. In a dish with rich sauce and pasta everything else can be overwhelmed but the scallops were seared correctly leaving tender, flavorful meat that complemented well. Caprice appetizer was simple but did the job. My wife's filet came layered on top of potatoes and topped with sun-dried tomatoes & melted mozzarella. Cooked rare correctly it was tender and favorable. My group didn't eat off the long pizza list but with their impressive fired oven I can imagine they are good. Overall a great experience and great food. I would go back again to try more menu items.

This restaurant on VanDyke took me by surprise! From the outside it is in a small strip mall but when you walk in you feel like you are in Italy! This service was very professional (ask for Eric) and the food was absolutely delicious and beautifully prepared beyond our expectations. The manager was attentive and personable also (his name is Michael.) We were invited to go back into the kitchen and meet Will, the chef and he gave us a tour! The whole restaurant was spotless. He showed us the layout and how the freshly prepared food in the coolers were meticulously put away! This restaurant is great for a couples night out or a girls night out also. It is classy, elegant and you feel very taken care of. I highly recommend it. (We ordered the filet, shrimp, and 2 different types of chicken. We shared them all and each one of them were amazing!) make reservations, or call ahead. They are busy! (Rightfully so!)

Have eaten here atleast 5-7 times since it opened and have not eaten anything that wasn't spectacular... Out of all the items my wife and I have ordered... Which is all over the menu and special board, the only criticism I would have.... Or change I would make would be no olive oil on top of the calamari. Best pizza in the Tampa area... Any of them! Do yourself a favor and get a side of ranch or marinara for the crust... You will thank me later!

All I can say is wow! Definitely a great find, especially here in Lutz. Had a spectacular dinner, and will definitely be returning! What a hidden gem. Everything was great...the calamari to start, the Caesar salad, the blackened grouper, and the chocolate pyramid for the finish! Yum!!!!

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
