A TASTE OF FRANCE ON LONGBOAT KEY "Consistently delicious" would be the adjective that best describes the very classy French restaurant on Longboat Key. Owned by most warm and welcoming Victoria and Jose Martinez, this restaurant does not disappoint. In the center of the dining room there is a beautiful display of beautiful orchids, lovingly arranged by Victoria. (She changes this display according to the season and is quite the artist) The owners' young son Jose Junior, now a server after doing an apprenticeship in the kitchen clearly loves what he does, and does it with style and poise as does the very polished and pleasant Michel who makes every evening at La Maison Blanche a special event. Just after being seated, we are treated to a basket of freshly baked breads, baguette or olive oil. Dinner the other night was delicious as usual. The steamed and tender vegetable appetizer was dressed with a very flavorful sauce. The crispy rib eye steak was tender and juicy on the inside and cooked to perfection accompanied by a delicious pepper sauce or béarnaise, and creamy mashed potatoes. Another amazing go to dish is the Mediterranean seabass, always a delight. Chef Jose finished our dinner off with a fluffy Grand Marnier soufflé, THE REAL THING, not a watered down version. The apple tart served with apple ice cream was also a real hit. The perfect ending to a delicious dinner!!!
Best restaurant in Sarasota. Period. Food, service, ambiance all five stars.
Amazing. What a fantastic New Years treat. The food, service (Jerome was amazing!!!!!) and ambiance were perfect. Each course was a complement of the first. Thank you for making the end of 2014 so special.

My friend and I ate a late lunch here after toasting in the sun. The prices on the meals were reasonable with big portions. The lunch menu was diverse and offered a variety of meats. I enjoyed the Chicken Cabana sandwich. That was really good. We both enjoyed the French fries. They are really good. Patrons can eat inside or outside. We chose inside. The service was ok; not great, but not bad enough to complain. The server was a just a little aloof. Overall, we really enjoyed our meals. We would come back.

I liked it here a lot. 4 of us were vacationing in the area and stopped in for dinner on a Saturday night. It was pretty packed inside so we opted to sit outside. My husband and I ordered calamari as an appetizer & it was quite delicious. For the main courses, I ordered a special, the salmon and sautéed spinach, 2 others ordered the tortellini carbonara, & another ordered the stuffed shells with a side of meatballs. Everything was very, very yummy. Service was adequate and the price was decent. I recommend eating there.
Ordered take out from this restaurant while staying at a nearby resort. First of all they quickly set up and prepare their orders in a timely manner and packaged perfectly. As for the food, it was perfect. Much better than expected. Their cheese pie was great as well as their chicken parm. We were all quite content and surprised at the flavor and the generous portions offered. Definitely be back and an easy choice while in LBK.
Crowded in this little spot at 6:30 but we had ordered a takeout pizza of capers, red sauce and artichokes. FANTASTIC. Great wood fired crust, chewy and hot. Just a really good find if you are on Longboat.

We really try never to go to the same restaurant twice, because there are so many in Sarasota. But, we would absolutely come back to Amore by Andrea. To start off, the service was outstanding. Not only our waitress, but everyone that we dealt with. Our waitress, Monica, however, was wonderful. She gave us enough time and space for everything, but never too much. The food, was delectable. We had many things, some of which included, lamb meatballs, beef carpaccio, fried zucchini, just to name a few. The presentation of the food, was equally as good as the taste of the food. It was evident that they wanted you to be happy with everything, from the taste of your wine to the taste of your food. And we were happy with everything. We look forward to returning to Amore.
Visited here during recent vacation to LBK and food was fantastic. Can make reservations on opentable. Excellent live piano music and service. Would suggest the $25 early bird dining option for 3 course meal during summer season. Delicious penne ala vodka, eggplant parm, and homemade ice cream. Welcome to LBK andrea!
Our first time here, we live near. Friendly hostess, our waiters name is George he is a real Pro. Food is divine wine is delicious service was tops. Andrea welcome to the neighborhood we are glad you are here, next stop we hit the piano bar for happy hour. Ask for George.

Best restaurant of our week here. Not perfect but very good . The rack of lamb, Fettuccine Alfredo and ahi tuna steak were excellent! Very Good flavor without being over assuming. Bok choy that was served with tuna was tough, and dim sum app was boring. Pasta fagioli was a bit spicy, perfect for me, not much for daughter. Excellent chocolate creme Brule desert. Service by Robert was perfect. Made the dinner special. Price on higher side, but commensurate with food, atmosphere and great view.
Great place on Longboat key. I took my fiancé there after we got engaged that very morning. I had the tuna and she had their chicken. Both dishes were amazing. I emailed them saying that we would be coming after getting engaged and they prepared a special desert for my fiancé (now wife) :) She thought it was the sweetest thing ever. Best part of the night? We had a table by the window and there was a rainbow right outside! We would definitely recommend this place to our friends and family.
Had a wonderful evening at the restaurant in a party of 10. Delicious food, good wine, lovely views and decor. Want to send thanks and kudos to our server, JASMINE, who did an amazing job. She should be employee of the month for sure.

Some relatives rented a house on Longboat Key. We went to visit them for Mother's Day. Here's how that adventure went. We had a reservation for 11 AM. The place was not very crowded, which was very shocking on Mother's Day. We were seated outside. Some of the tables have umbrellas. Some do not. Needless to say, part of our group was in the shade while some of us were in the sun. We kept the mothers in the shade, it was their day, after all. The chairs are rather rigid and devoid of any ergonomic shaping. So, they don't lend themselves to long-term occupation. This may be by design to keep folks from staying too long. The staff didn't seem all that enthusiastic about us being there. They were quick to fill water glasses but not so quick to take a drink order. Once we placed our order, a couple of the drinks came out and then a couple more and eventually the last drink made its way to the table. They dropped off some over-cooked biscuits and banana bread. The jams on the table were very good and made the biscuits worth eating. My wife was pretty happy with the apple pancake and omelette she ordered. However, her lyonnaise potatoes were deep fried rather than sauteed. Other than the onions, they were devoid of any seasoning. I had the fish tacos. They were underwhelming. They were small and only came with two. The fish was good, but I would have preferred some more seasoning. The cole slaw wasn't anything better than you'd get from the deli at the nearby Publix. For $19, I expected much better. My Aunt ordered the french toast, Harry's style. She was not happy with them. It was 6 little pieces of baguette with a small amount of raspberry sauces drizzled around them. She had ask for syrup and it took a while to show up. She said they seemed a bit under-done. My Uncle got the breakfast burrito. It looked promising at first. A large spinach tortilla covered in cheese and ranchero sauce. Upon opening it, he found that the scrambled eggs were pulverized to the point of just being small specs of egg amongst the other fillings. The filling was grey and not very appealing to the eyes. He indicated that it wasn't bad tasting, but not something he'd order again. Our last party member got a ruben with fries. She was very happy with it. It did look like a decent sandwich, although a little expensive. I had to flag down the server to get a refill on my drink. The others just made due with the glass of water once they had emptied their drinks. We were never asked how the meal was and they didn't even offer dessert. I think they just wanted the seats available for future patrons. There's not a lot of competition on the island, so they don't have to try too hard. It shows.
Another fine dining experience on a quiet Sunday summer evening. Good food good drink good atmosphere good staff. A very nice place for dinner.
The catering team at Harry's is phenomenal!! We were given a fantastic tasting while visiting for our wedding planning and they won us over immediately! Jen was the shining star of our experience. She set up our tasting and sat with us for our dinner talking over details of our wedding. My fiance, now husband, said he had never met anyone so genuine and friendly as Jen. She immediately made us feel welcomed, cared for and listened to. She executed our personalized Mediterranean/Turkish menu just as we requested via email. The Harry's team made spectacular food and we chose them as mentioned immediately for our wedding reception caterer. Through the year as we planned our wedding event, Jen helped with questions about our venue, Powel Crosley Estate, because she has catered for events there multiple times. She was not only our point of contact for our caterer, but a source of information during our planning process because she was so knowledgeable and willing to share with me. She answered all of my emails and phone calls. Harry's catering department was very accessible. Jen also offered to accept some of my decor shipments close to our wedding date as our wedding was "destination" for us coming from chicago. Jen made it possible for me to arrive in Florida and have the many items i needed such as candles, goodies for welcome bags, etc to be there waiting for me. Without her, I would have had to cross my fingers that UPS/Fed ex would deliver the dates requested and we all know that is way too scary the week of your weddng. We found Harry's pricing very reasonable and as mentioned the quality of the food was amazing. Our guests commented that the menu we had created and Harry's had prepared was some of best food they had ever been served at a wedding. All items that were to be served warm/hot were warm/hot. That is a very important piece for me! We had a multicourse meal per our request and my only critique is that the dinner was expected to be 60-75 minutes per our previous conversations and ended up being 2 hours long. I know that the rate at which the guests eat affects this process, but I made a few requests while eating my dinner to please keep the courses coming at a quicker pace. For this timing reason I give Harry's a 4 out of 5, but if I was local I would give them every opportunity to allow me to give them a 5. I would hire them for catering events at my home and for business meetings! Harry's catering team was an absolute delight and an absolute gift for us to deal with for our wedding day:)

Reviews:
Our party of three dined at the Bayou Tavern, an Italian restaurant on Longboat Key, Florida on Dec. 27, 2012. For appetizers, we had lobster bisque - delicious, and arugula salad with tomatoes and mozzarella -very good. For entrees, we chose veal Milanese, basa (fish) Francese and veal cannelloni, all of which were good. The décor is pleasant and low key. Service is cordial and competent. The restaurant feels comfortable and family friendly. Don't be deterred by its location in an otherwise deserted small mall. Our meal - two appetizers, three entrees, one glass of wine - came to about $77 plus $5 tax, which we considered a fair price for this meal. A good local spot.
The place is the Best. You gotta try it. You will go back often like us. We found this little Jem by accident. Its Much more then a Tavern! !! All the dishes are prepared as you like. They will do anything you ask. Thr people ate very friendly. Service is Great. The view of the Bayou is very nice. Watch the fish jump. Gary & Lisa
We called at 4:45pm for a 6pm reservation for 20. Service was excellent and food was outstanding. Waiter James was one of the best we've ever been served by. Our group had pizza, lasagna, linguini luciana, basa. Sangria slso very good. Would definitely go back.

Awful on every level, believe the other one star reviews. I can't imagine the low standards of anyone who recommends this place. Head to The Blue Marlin (worthy of five stars) on Bridge Street on Anna Maria Island a few miles North and then reconsider your rating of this has-been.
This is my first time dining in this restaurant and it was simply delightful. The place was cozy and was had a dessert bar upstairs where you can have your after dinner coffee or cocktail and dessert. I had the catch of the day which was salmon with lump crab and a side of vegetables. This meal was prepared so well, that all the flavors blended so perfectly. The salmon was prepared with just enough spices and grilled well, that it was moist and tender. The combination with the crab was truly a seafood delight! I thoroughly enjoyed this meal. I had the chocolate mousse as a fitting finale for my meal, with cappuccino. I found the mousse to be too sweet for my taste, but the cappuccino was just perfect! I would definitely come back and try any of the delectable entrees on your menu.
What a disappointment! We had a family dinner at the Restaurant last night and were excited to have dinner at this place. The moment we arrived in the Restaurant we were shocked about the interior and decor, welcome back to the Seventies! Everything is so outdated that it is almost ridiculous. The moment we were served a very sweet banana bread, we should have known what to expect. Seriously a sweet banana bread to begin a meal? Our server (a nice guy) was giving us some history about the Restaurant and their specialties. He seemed overly excited about their food, so we expected some nice surprises. He recommended the Cesar Salad, one of their classics. At this point I realized that certain meals were prepared within the Restaurant, so there was this constant smell of food that was prepared behind our table. The Cesar Salad was one of these meals prepared outside the kitchen. Oh boy, what a show to make a salad. If you perform a show like this you better serve a fine salad. Unfortunately the salad was not good, far too much garlic in the dressing and the salad leafs were watery. I'd like to mention that they brought a cold salad fork for the salad, how pretentious. I ordered the pasta with shrimp as an appetizer and ended up getting a soup with overcooked pasta and shrimp in it. For the main course I ordered the Duckling one of their signature dishes. I do not recall seeing such poor presentation of duck. They cut the duck in half and put the entire half on my plate. How can you do that? That lacks passion and professionalism. The dishes of my family members were poorly executed and presented. If the Duck would have been fantastic, so what but the taste of it was not good at all. The Chicken Florentine was way too salty and the Veal Moussaka was just blend. I also have to mention that every single meal had parsley on it. Really? This is what my father put on each plate as a chef in the Seventies. We were told that they have a wide selection of cakes upstairs so we wanted to check it out. What we experienced upstairs reminded me of a really bad movie from the past. A piano player playing old fashioned songs, an outdated bar and a smell that reminded me of an antique store but not in a good way... We decided to skip desert and leave. Overall a really disappointing experience, I honestly do not know how this place can still be in business. I do not mind old fashioned Restaurants as long as the food is good but in this case it was just bad. Sorry!

Epic fail this visit. Came again to eat at the bar. Bar was filled with 12 guests and 2 tables. The poor bartender was overwelmed and had little help. He was also making the drinks for the rest of the busy restaurant. We left after 30 minutes having not even ordered yet. Got waters and menus but no service
AMAZING service and food! We were staying at the Long Boat Key Resort and the concierge suggested this place for dinner. We sat outside for the view - had wonderful bruschetta for an appetizer - our main dishes were delectable and you could tell they were fresh and the pasta was homemade - and all of the waiter servers were extremely friendly and attentive. I will definitely be returning on my next vacation!
Mediocre. Are we eating at a private club or a hotel restaurant-very difficult to tell the difference. You must be a resort guest or a club member but found the food to be below the fare at typical full service hotels such as Marriott or Sheraton. Does not feel like a club because the service was so indifferent. I think the Longboat Key Club needs to decide what they want to be when they grow up-a membership club or a destination resort.

Reviews:
It had been a long time since visiting the Chart House. They switched their concept in Ft Myers some time ago to Joes Crabshack. :( We went with friends celebrating her 8 year anniversary with our company. They did a solid job, like many restaurants in the past few years they have curbed their approach a bit to attract the masses. Service not quite as sharp and attention to detail not emphasized such as refills, prebus, and fresh spices available when meal arrives. I only mention these things because of the price point which dictates excellence in service. Pre meal salad bar was very good, we noticed a lady needing help there too and staff seemed oblivious. All foods fresh and tasty. The meals themselves were enjoyed by all. Salmon, tuna, filet, and short ribs. Enjoyed an excellent bottle of Stag Cabernet. Plenty of selection. Overall great experience, especially company we were with. Get rid of Joes, revamp and open back as Chart House, you would do much better cause Joes is awlful.
I know the reputation of the Chart House and was looking forward to a special night out. The Atmosphere was beautiful! We sat outside on the patio and the weather was perfect. Our service was very slow and not attentive like a fine dining restaurant should be. After we ordered our appetizers our waiter brought out a stack of plates and rolled up napkin/ silverware and placed them next to me and walked away. I proceeded to hand them out to my guests- a little tacky. The food was average - with a few stand outs. The Clam Chowder soup was amazing and the molten lava cake was also a stand out. I ordered the spinach salad with the hot bacon dressing and it was bland. My shrimp cocktail had a beautiful presentation with smoking dry ice but the shrimp was dry and freezer burned. The Fillet was good and New York strip also good but have had better cuts for that price. Our plates sat in front of us without being cleared and my husband was using a table knife to cut his steak because our waiter brought only one steak knife for our daughter but forgot him. Unimpressed. Love the setting- Would come back for a drink and an shared starter but would not come back or recommend for dinner. The service was too poor to match the reputation and the prices.
Disappointed with this upscale and expensive restaurant. The waterfront setting is beautiful but the interior is a little dated. We had dinner on a Saturday night with another couple and none of us were impressed. Salad bar was just ok. I had baked stuffed shrimp that was not good at all. My husband had the Mahi and said good but not worth the price. Our friends had filet and snapper that was again just ok. Green beans were over cooked and drenched in butter and mashed potatoes very dry. The lava cake was the best part of the dinner. I don't mind paying high prices for a dinner but I should walk out saying "that was really worth it". Unfortunately The Chart House did not accomplish that. With all the amazing restaurants in the Sarasota area, we won't be returning to The Chart House.
