Had a very busy stressful day...typical Monday...was very relieved to remember Monday night is burger night at Catch 23. Not our first trip at all. The burgers are the most amazing tasting beef served with fries all for $4.99. We always sit at the bar. Tonight they were slammed and we enjoyed Sam and John as our Bar Tenders!! They were of course as always awesome!!! Still don't know what is my favorite dish...love the lobster roll...the sushi is amazing...just love it all and love the people who work so hard to make our dining experience the best!!! Did miss Trish tonight!!! And Eric!!! Love you guys!!

What a let down. Came in for date-night dinner and drinks, and just about everything was a misfire. Sushi Tuesday got us some acceptable rolls, but definitely not worth more than the special prices (although I will say they were presented nicely). Drinks were disappointing - I enjoy a craft beer, and was initially excited by the menu's fairly wide selection. However, the first three I chose - ALL THREE - were unavailable. Guys, why are they even on the menu? Our poor server went back and forth to the bar all those times to just keep disappointing me. One of the beers I did finally get to try, though, clocked in at $8. Maybe I should've just gotten a martini. Dinner was fish salad for the wife, and blackened grouper sandwich for me. Wife enjoyed her fish salad, which she said was very good aside from the shrimp. Blackened grouper sandwich was, again, disappointing. The spices were pretty decent, but the sandwich was completely dry - no dressing, not even something light - and not hot. The fries were cool, hard, and looked like they'd been left in the oven for too long. The entire time, we got to listen to the playlist of someone who wished they lived in Hawaii. Island-style reggae, Jack Johnson, and Dave Matthews were what we got to hear - except when the music would randomly stop, or change songs halfway through. Whoever was in charge of the music, please don't do that anymore. This isn't some coffee shop with an iPod, I'm about to drop nearly $100 on cold fish and a salad. The least you could do is let me listen to ALL of "What Would You Say." Dinner was over $80, even with a "welcome to the neighborhood" coupon. Service was good. And just keep in mind you're in Fishhawk, so be prepared for kids all over the place.

I so wanted to enjoy this place more because our server was awesome and the place is so freaking adorable! Inside and outside, but food is overpriced. The portions are huge (bonus) but lacking in flavor. I had macadamia crusted chicken it was okay. My friend had the macadamia fish and we both were like "can u tell the difference"?? The mashed potatoes were again okay as were the carrots. I think a better daily happy hour would draw more people to this spot. The cocktails were okay as well I wanted the blueberry lemon drop but they were out of blueberry and they replaced with a berry vodka tasted just like a Cosmo and my glass was only 3/4 filled. My friend got the sangria that tasted just like fruit punch. I think they just need to work on the details and taste level of food and drink.

We ate at Catch 23 on the 12th of October at about 7pm until 830pm. The food itself was not that bad--perfectly acceptable. However, the service was absolutely the worst service we have ever seen since we moved to the Brandon, Florida area in 2003. We ate at the new Catch 23 Fishhawk location in Lithia, Florida. Our "server" was Nikki who, as it turned out, was actually the manager or so she said. Oddly, all the other servers were dressed appropriately in uniforms and aprons and closed toed shoes. Nikki on the other hand was in jeans, flip flops and some raggedy shirt. Her demeanor, speech and presentation was quite frankly awful. While we tolerated this poor service during dinner because we were with another couple, when we tried use the coupon that we purchased from Catch 23's website she would not honor it because she said we had to print it off. Of course, the coupon has a 3D barcode which is specifically designed to be used with smartphones and smartphone cameras precisely because you do not need to print them off. Additionally, it was very clear that we purchased the coupon just that day so why not just honor the coupon regardless? At any rate, Nikki was argumentative, defensive and all around rude. And just to ensure that anyone reading this does not think that we are just complaining to get a free meal or a discount, we don't want a damn thing. I'll even eat the cost of the coupon that we paid $10 for $25 and could not use. We simply will not return to that place. Furthermore, why was the "manager" serving us anyway. Anyone who is familiar with the restaurant industry knows that managers who wait on tables are basically stealing money from their servers. The saddest part of this entire fiasco is that this is the restaurant's new Fishhawk location in Lithia. This location depends on Fishhawk residents for its business because it is located right in the middle of the development and Lithia is not located near any other development or town such that anyone would drive into Fishhawk to eat out. This particular location has been host to about 4 other restaurants and apparently Catch 23's ownership is not aware that in order to be successful, with an Outback just around the corner, is to outperform with customer service. Nikki is not only a poor excuse of a "manager" but she will, single-handedly, ensure that Catch 23 essentially goes out of business.

I would say I have a refine taste for good food and know somewhat about fresh seafood growing up in New York City. If you are looking for good seafood, I would NOT recommend this restaurant. In my opinion, everything from appetizers to entrees did NOT taste fresh. The complimentary edamame was soggy and way too buttery. Oysters were dark in color, fishy, and tasted rotten - we sent it back to the kitchen. The grouper sandwich tasted fishy and tough, even the tarter sauce and onions didn't save it. The person I dined with grew up in Southwest Florida, eating grouper nearly every week and said this grouper sandwich was the worst he had tasted. The sea bass with island mango salsa was over cooked and did not carry the buttery taste that it naturally has, nor was it flaky. Instead, they tried to grill the sea bass with butter. Two good things that helped this restaurant earn the one star: the one and only beer ordered (the southern tier creme brûlée - which was on draft) and our attentive waiter. All in all we are displeased with the quality of the food. There were no sweetness to any of the seafood served, which makes me assume that it was all frozen or not fresh. Good thing we had a voucher because the the food was definitely not worth the total price and the possible cause of my immediate upset stomach afterwards.

Here is the quick review: Food: 4+ Service: 3 Ambiance: 2 Value/Cost: 3 So the good news is that the fish was all very fresh and cooked perfectly, just not correctly or as described. Drinks: Ordered 2 draft beers and one came out flat. Sent it back but no other similar beers on the menu and no bottle options means a switch to something else. Got the sangria and that was good. Appetizer: was the lobster escargot and had lots of good pieces of lobster but if you look at the pics it may have been slightly overdone. My wife got this a week ago and said it was so peppery that she didn't think I would like it. We asked the waitress and she said it didn't have pepper in it and sure enough this one didn't. That's strange... Entree: We ordered the Stuffed Grouper and Peppercorn Seared Tuna. Both pieces of fish tasted very fresh. Peppercorns slightly overpowered the tuna but it was a really good piece of seared tuna. The grouper was a large light and flaky piece topped with crab and bread crumbs and a white wine lemon sauce. The crab/bread crumb ratio was a little too much bread and not enough crab but still tasted decent. Coconut rice was really good. Mixed veggies were also good. The only reason not a 5 for food and a 4 overall is the fact that I was told the stuffed grouper was grilled and came out either fried or seared. I was really looking forward to the pecan wood grilled fish. I even asked the waitress and she said it was supposed to be grilled and told her it was fried. Oh well.... Dessert: Key lime pie. 2 pieces for $5 is great. And it tastes very good. Not sure if we got 2 slices for the couple hiccups but that's a great deal. Ambiance: This is the worst part of the place. I mean it looks very nice but there is only a curtain that divides the bar and the dinning area and don't underestimate how loud housewives of FH get on AYCD wine night ;). Live music was a nice touch but again slightly loud in the dinning area. Overall the food was good, not great but has the definite potential to be great. For $120 I hope to see these wrinkles ironed out with the food/drinks and we will eat outside if there is a next time.

Only giving them 3 stars with the hope that it will get better. Visited the Montague location quiet a few times and they were all great experiences. Long story short: * Service was great! * We dined outside on the patio - had 2 roaches fly/land on our table * Tilapia "Special" - grilled tilapia with crab meat on top and your choice of 2 sides. Great except for... The crab was imitation crab!! Yes! They served me a 'K'rab stick!! Who does that?? * Scallops are off the charts YUM! (However small - I don't think they are U10) We will try it again ONLY because they have only been open 3 months so were hoping they will work out all of the kinks and other than the crab with a K, the food is REALLY good.

A great addition to the Fishhawk and S Brandon/Valrico areas. The sushi rolls were delicious and well-presented. We tried the Volcano and Hawaiian rolls, with some California rolls for the kids. The macadamia nut encrusted scallops were large and fresh, and the sweet potato and ginger salad is worth a try.

My wife & I dined for the first time this past Friday, and had a quality experience; Barbara was our server and she did something I always appreciate a server doing--she contributed her personal experience with the various dishes to our decision-making process. The food was quite tasty; I had a couple of appetizers as my meal, and in particular enjoyed the pulled pork, which came with a tasty slaw and maduro plantains. When my wife asked about the seasoning of the pork, the Chef/GM actually came to our table and explained how it was cooked, the cut of meat used, seasonings, and more. He and Barbara really helped make the experience one we want to repeat; good food, great people. Good stuff! We will be back.

Robert the owner responded to my post with in 15 minutes with a resolution, this shows me he understand good customer service. My wife and I are going to give another try in the next couple of weeks, we will update after that visit. I gave another star for the very quick response from Robert the owner.

Let's start with service because it was the best thing about my visit. Our server was really nice and informative. She even provided a complimentary bowl of edamame (usually sells for $6). Now for the bad parts. We went on date night (Saturday) @ 6:45 PM. I was told by friends that I might not be seated for a bit but the place was empty aside from one other table and a bar full of middle-aged couples. The place has zero decorations except for walls painted blue and blue curtains. One section is covered with plastic and some of the employees congregated back there during service. I wanted to start with some sushi rolls so my wife ordered the Hawaiian roll and I ordered the "Hope" Roll. The price was $12 for each roll. The Hawaiian was delicious. It consisted of fried shrimp, macadamia nuts, shaved coconut, mango, asparagus, and cream cheese. The Hope Roll was supposed to be filled with lobster, shrimp, and cream cheese and wrapped in a rice paper. I was "Hoping" it would have a lot of lobster considering the price but it fell short. Also, it lacked flavor. Next, we ordered a couple of sandwiches so as to save room for dessert. We ordered the lobster and shrimp roll ($14) and the grilled grouper sandwich ($13). The lobster and shrimp roll was described as consisting of fresh lobster chunks and shrimp, Florida bay seasoning, and mayonnaise. What the chef prepared was mayonnaise and bay seasoning blended and completely covering the seafood. Bay seasoning should be diluted because it is too strong. As a result, all I could taste was the seasoning. Plus, it was strong, it actually tasted terrible. The grilled grouper was also not prepared properly because it tasted really gamey. It must have been old because when grouper tastes gamey, it's old. Based on the food so far, we decided to opt out of dessert. It also took a long time for the food to come out, which was strange because there were so few diners. I overheard the hostess say she was leaving at 7:15. When we left, we noticed that aside from us, there were two other tables of diners plus four more tables outside. The place was mostly empty on the busiest night of the week. Now for the ambiance. The couples seated at the bar were very loud and obnoxious, even spilling their drinks and getting served more. I guess they were thinking that they were part of a frat. There were TVs in the restaurant showing games so I suppose this place is an over-priced sports bar. The owner of the restaurant was also drinking at the bar.The background music consisted of old and tired country music. The entire bill for two people and no drinks was $51 before tax. For that price, I expect a lot more. I do not recommend this place at all and apparently, no one else does either. RESTAURANT FAIL

Good food, good service. The drinks menu is a little on the exotic side. Never saw so many ginger beer and liquor products before. A few things need tweaking. The seating outside was pleasant with the cool mist spray fans but I was dripped on a bit by the overhead light fixture probably from that mist. In addition, they need to come up with a way to keep the flies away from their outdoors diners as 3 of them pestered us during our meal. (there is a pennies in a bag of water trick that supposedly works). Obviously there is only so much you can do with outdoor seating. The interior was nice so suggest eating inside until this gets addressed. Finally, free Wi-Fi would be great as the T-Mobile signal there is non existent and if my relatives babysitting the baby needed to reach me they likely could not have using text or cell.

Just found out about this place. Made reservations online and specifically asked for either a booth or table on the side of the restaurant (hate sitting in the middle of a room). The hostess escorted us to our table and unfortunately it was a high top smack in the middle of the room! I asked if we could opt for one of the adjacent unoccupied tables by the window. She seemed reluctant to do that for some unexplained reason and so we stayed at the high top. It turned out to be ok, just not my favorite. Our server, John, did a great job. He told us it was happy hour and certain drinks were 2 for 1. When he returned with our drinks, he told us that he had made a mistake, and explained that there is no happy hour on Saturdays. He did the honorable thing and gave us the drinks at the happy hour prices. I thought that was very admirable. As for the food, there are some rough edges that need to be addressed. We ordered Lobster tails and were very surprised to see how they were presented. Instead of the "normal" way with the meat curled on top of the tail, these were sliced lengthwise into 4 separate pieces. By doing this it made extracting the lobster meat almost impossible! After a lot of struggling we managed to get to the lobster meat and it was some of the sweetest, tastiest lobster I've had in years! I think this place has lots of potential and I hope they do well. We look forward to trying it again. P.S. The lobster bisque was awesome!

We went last night and had a great time. The food was awesome. We ordered appetizers that was delicious as well as our main course. Wine selection very good and very reasonable. Chef/GM came out to see how our meal was. Nice that he cared enough to personally come out and introduce himself and talk to us. We will definitely go back.
