I went here on a whim- I was craving Korean BBQ- that might sound odd, but I was. I wanted to cook some Korean specialty over a hot burning personal stove. When I saw a yelp deal- I jumped on it. However, Da Mee Rak was just not great, the "BBQ" was a tin foil, small stove that cooked extremely slowly and poorly. The side dishes ranged from eatable to bad. The servers were very nice but everything else there was subpar. I wouldn't return here.

I kind of feel like the quality of the banchan + drink they give you when you finish your meal has downgraded over time. I've been coming to this restaurant for maybe 5 years now and they've changed managers like 2 times already. There used to be a very nice and soft spoken young man working here named Stefan but he either quit/was fired/moved :( It's always super clean inside, however I think the lime green paint on the tables is super tacky and just plain weird............, waiters/waitresses are always very attentive, meat + rice are nothing extraordinary but still great. They used to give mini cups of strawberry + banana smoothies to help get that garlic/oniony taste out of your mouth and it was great. Now they've switched to a disgusting (just in my opinion I'm sure there are many others who enjoy it) cinnamon + star anise vinegar wine concoction? I totally forgot what it was but I didn't like it. It was like drinking cinnamon water. They used to have thick slices of spicy marinated potatoes as part of their banchan. Things change I guess but I feel the quality has gone down a notch. Very expensive. But Korean BBQ typically is especially if you sit at a table with a grill and are required to order 2+ servings of meat. For any Korean BBQ amateurs, please try beef tongue, no matter which BBQ place you decide to go to. So nice and flavorful and chewy. It can either be super nice and quiet in the restaurant or pretty noisy (but a good kind of noisy not a screaming kid noisy). They've got a bar but I don't recall every seeing anybody sitting there. Found a roach in the bathroom a year or so ago when I went! But the bathrooms are never shithole dirty. The whole place is run by Koreans so I'm sure, being Asian myself, that they wouldn't let their kitchen become like that.

Had dinner there tonight with my wife. Very low key place. The food is very fresh and very good. I would recommend it to anyone interesting in trying a new Korean place. It will not disappoint at all and the service was really really good.

This place would score higher for me but after having been here several times before they changed management/the menu, I have to say I'm disappointed with the new changes. The food and service is still good, and the new table-top burners are nice. But they got rid of the calamari. WHY?! What's even more painful is that they do carry calamari, but they just won't grill it like they used to. You can still order it in other dishes I believe but it was just to die for when it was grilled. Prices are a little high but worth it.

My parents wanted to try some Korean food after watching the kimchi chronicles. Stefan our server and the little Korean girl that cooked was friendly, knowledgable, on all the side dishes. If you order 4 or more dishes you get a big discount which is a plus for big groups, I will return and this will be a popular spot. Very clean and reasonable and come hungry!! The BBQ is addicting.

Awesome Kalbi. It's soft and juicy. The staff is friendly and you get a yelp discount too. The location is a little sketchy but the food is worth it.

Wow!!! And even better the said they gonna hold my charge till my friend go and pay their part!!! Wow! Please tell me it s my fault?!?!?!

Korean food is my ALL TIME FAVORITE!! So during my one week vacation in south florida, I decided to try a korean restaurant here. Before I went to the restaurant, I checked the comments here, I have to say, I was a little disappointed. Food: We ordred bbq (Kalbi, and pork belly) and 2 soups(tofu soup and codfish soup) If I am only rating on the food, the point won't be that high... (i'm sorry..but being honest) The food is NOT BAD, but for those who had korean food in NYC, it's not comparable. They have a extended menu, but none of what we ordered met my expectation. Kalbi was ok, Pork belly were too THICK, seafood soup...can't compare to BCD, codfish soup... it was ok... we also ordered steam egg dish--it was blan and a little burnt ... But, everything smells good. Service: Service was a little slow, but friendly overall. The owner and the waiters are all really nice Will I go back? Probably not... i'm too spoiled by NYC food. but if u're not comparing the food to NYC, i would recommend this restaurant.

I had a hankering for some Korean BBQ, so my husband and I decided we were going to try Da Mee Rak after reading all of the positive reviews. We took our 3rd old and 1yr old, and drove 40 minutes...for NOTHING! We waited half an hour just to be seated (mind you, the place was empty!), and then waited 20 more minutes to be ignored further. Our order had never even been taken! Even after my husband repeatedly asked for service, not one person came to our table. (It seemed like there was only ONE server on staff.) Our children began getting restless and hungry when we noticed that another couple sitting at the next table, who had sat before us, still had not received any service yet either. We decided that enough is enough and we left. I honestly don't know how that place is still in business?! Don't waste your time like we did!

We went here for lunch yesterday. I got jampong, which is a spicy seafood noodle soup. The rest of us got the bento meals. The bentos had your choice of spicy pork, chicken, or beef. It came with your choice of spicy tofu soup, korean miso soup, or beef brisket soup before the bento was served. Then in your bento you had chap jae, salad, your choice of fried or sticky rice, potstickers, and some sliced cucumber in addition to whatever meat you chose. Very filling and tasty. My soup was good, they didn't skimp on the seafood, but it wasn't the most flavorful jampong I have had. The waiter was very nice and attentive. We also got a free soda with our meal and after our meal we got a free slushy type drink to cleanse our palate. I would love to go there for dinner as the lunch menu was a bit limited.

I really like Korean BBQ and I came to this restaurant before and ordered only beef. However, the last time my husband my mom and myself came things went down hill really fast. My mom ordered a meal that stated to have chicken breast. While the lady was cooking this "chicken breast" I was saying to myself this don't look it but I'll give it a chance. Once she was finished my mom took one bite and spit it out and refused to eat the meal saying it wasn't chicken. I decided to taste it for myself and sure enough that didn't taste like chicken it was chewy and weird. I called the manager over to complained she explained it was chicken thigh because she was out of breast meat. She offered to changed the order free of charge. Anyway the service was always nice but I'm still not convinced that we was eating chicken nor was anyone in my party convinced after trying it. So yea go at your own risk.

this is my first time doin kbbq, service is good, food is alright but just the portion for that price(soup) is kinda gangnam style(expensive). overall its bueno pero por mejor ;)

Expensive spiced tap water soup, vegetable anemic Japjae & very fatty Kalbi (short ribs)! Did they put all their $$ on wait staff coz the guy was actually the only stand out!

I'm writing this edit to my original review to reflect what I perceive a decline in the overall experience from the past several times I was there since my original review. For one thing, they seem to have updated the menu (again) and removed some items, including my favorite dish, the jumulleok (similar to galbi except the cut is from short steak). In addition, the portions got smaller and the bonchon went through changes, too. Overall,l not as good as it used to be. It's sad that I had to drop the rating from my previous 5 star review, but it's clear that they got an even newer cook since my original review, and this place can no longer compete on the same playing field as Korean restaurants in NYC and San Francisco (which is something I said before). And yes, the wait time has become quite extended (even when it's not busy) and service less attentive.

I am a regular customer here and love the food everytime I visit! They have a new owner since year ago so all the negative reviews are mostly from before! I have been to all other korean resturant in the area and find this one to be the best, its a shame this place doesnt get more recognition. The resturant is in own building and very spacious inside, biggest of all the korean resturants. The banchan (side dishes) are plentiful and refills are free as long as you ask! The service is top notch everytime I go even with my family. Ive tried most of their BBQ menu and I love the galbi marinated in korean bbq sauce hands down. They have a cool grill and waitresses will cook all the bbq for you right in front of you, so you dont have to do a thing! It comes with rice and salad at no extra charge along with the side dishes so we are always stuffed whenever we go! We usually accompany the bbq with either kimchi or soon tofu soup. They have limited desert if youre into that, but their fried banana is very good! All in all I recommend that you give this place a try at least once. At a reasonable price and good service, you wont be dissapointed!

I love this place! Anytime I come to south Florida , I try to make it a reason to come to this place. Love the whole Korean BBQ concept. We'll usually order the rib eye, spicy pork, and spicy chicken. It's very flavorful and the price is just right. Also like the little small dishes they bring out as well. It's the best Korean BBQ I've had EVER. If you get the chance, stop by!

The cuisine at Da Mee Rak is truly like it from the country. They have a wide array of dishes to suit whatever you're in the mood for. Definitely recommend this restaurant if you want authentic meals.

This used to be my favorite place, and when I read the poster at the Korean Oriental Mart that it's now under new management, I look forward to my next visit with excited anticipation. Sadly, the menu is drastically cut down, and gone are several of my favorites. Stephen is attentive as usual, but the food doesn't taste as good as before. Even the BBQ and lettuce salad are blander. This used to be a 4 star favorite of mine, now it's only a 3. Food is not awful, just that with lots of Korean restaurants in the neighborhood, this one just doesn't stand out.

Went with friends, we're really big K-Drama fans, and became interested in Korean culture, and food. This was our first time eating Korean food, and it was reallllly good. The individuals who worked there were pleasant, and indulged us practing the little we knew through dramas andx asking how do you say this, and that. (we're convinced we will learn the language through dramas). The food was great, the service was great, we will definitely be going back often, it's really affordable. Next on our list of K-Drama things to do...find a karooke bar...

I think they changed chefs. It was okay this time and the prices seem higher. Banchan not as great as before...

Very happy we found this place. I was in the mood to try something new and decided Korean BBQ was the way to go- since both of us never had it. It was so good and so fun. We ordered the spare ribs (mild Galbee I think it was) and some beef dish. It comes with a lot of salads to start, which are all yummy. We also ordered dumplings as an appetizer because we didn't know food came with starter salads and they were awesome! You can tell they were fresh and hand made- and really delicious. In terms of decor- it looked like a typical Asian restaurant. You have the option of Korean BBQ or regular Korean food- which is a different part of the restaurant. The korean bbq seating gives you some privacy which is nice. Overall- GREAT food and fun experience. The location isn't great, but worth the trip.

This is actually a double update. We came back on 2/10/2012, a Friday night around 7 or so. There were maybe 3 other tables seated, none at the grills, and we opted for a regular table too. After being seated, it took the waitress 5 minutes just to bring us water and menus. We sat there for 15-20 minutes before we could finally flag the waiter down to place an order. He apologized and said he asked the waitress if she took our order and she said she did (then why were the menus still on our table?) Finally got our order in, and in the meantime another table had been seated at a grill. Took another 5 minutes just to get my father his beer, by that time the grill table had food where we didn't even have our appetizer (raw beef, didn't even require cooking!). Finally after 1/2 a beer and 10 more minutes, we got up and informed the waiter to cancel our order, paid for the beer, and left. Now for tonight's experience. We had promised a friend Korean BBQ and were still impressed with our first visit, so we gave them a 3rd chance. Before being seated, we told the waiter about the last time and he said he remembered and was extremely sorry and would make sure we were taken care of. He was about 75% on point, had to ask for a few things, but I swear the poor guy runs the place, he never stops moving for a second, so I give him much credit. As for the food, it was all delicious. They were unfortunately out of 3 of the things we were really looking forward to: beef tongue, beef intestine and lamb. He explained that the lamb was being removed from the menu, and the intestine may be as well due to the prep time, and the tongue was just our bad luck they had run out that day. We still ordered the kalbi short ribs (delicious and tender but still chewy), pork belly (nice and firm, not too fatty) and spicy pork (tender, crispy, delicious). We did the seafood pancake appetizer which lacked a bit in substance but had a good enough flavor. Also had the raw beef appetizer that we missed out on last time - worth it! Nice light marinade on the beef and the accompanying sliced pears were a cool crunchy contrast. The various banchan were almost all worth eating - didn't care for the salted cucumbers, omelet, or tofu cakes, but the tuna salad, bean sprouts, and pickled veggie wraps were delicious. So was the chopped lettuce salad. Service was better, but it still took us a good 2 hours to get in and out and it definitely slowed down when 2 big tables seated in the other area. Still, it's consistently good food, and a fun experience with friends, so worth the time and money. Bill came out to just a hair over $100 which considering we had 3 meat dishes, 2 appetizers, and 2 beers on our order, not too bad and we were definitely full!

What a glorious experience ,you walk in to a wonderfully bright and joyous restaurant. The first person we met was Kim wow what a ball of fire an joy, you can't be around her and not smile. She explained the menu to us we went for the beef and chicken coked at table side. The Korean side dishes were fresh spicy an perfect the meat rolled into lettuce an rice out of this world. Bottom line not only good food but Kim, Autumn and Gi could not have been nicer as they welcomed us.

Not a good idea to start charging for the second round of side dishes... Ruins the whole experience of going to a Korean restaurant . The portion of food is small. The taste is average will not be going back.

Like the Korean peninsula, I'm divided about this place. Been here a couple of times. With results more mixed than Daniel Henney...OMG, Daniel Henney I LOVE YOU and those adorable cheekbones of yours, and your shoulders and... sorry I got lost for a second there, just give me a moment to compose myself... Stephan the server is amazing. Very attentive and made great recommendations for new things to try if you're looking to graduate beyond the Kimchee Chiggae, Dolsat Bimimbap and Dok Bokki learners permit stage. However when this place is slammed I've experienced service spread thinner than a RomCom Kdrama plot, even when I was sitting right next to the kitchen pick-up window. The panchon here is possibly more plentiful than leggy beautiful Korean girls on stage at a Girls Generation concert. I know, hard to believe right? Ah Gee baby, ah gee gee gee...I wasn't thrilled with their fish cakes. I'm suspecting an angry ahjooma had a black pepper tantrum in the kitchen. Hopefully it was a one off time. Everything else is excellent and their Kimchee is the best in town IMO. UPDATE: There's a new noodle Chef here as of last week. If you're secretly Chinese, can be delivered by motorcycle and black bean sauce is your little black dress with neon yellow radish as your "go-to" accessory,... you need to bring your a$$ here and have a show down in a Korean restaurant town, because there's a new Jajangmyeon in town and its kicking some serious butt. With a slight bounce in it's chew, the hand rolled noodles are more perfectly cooked than Goo Jun Pyo's famous F4 permanent. I ordered a seafood vegetable noodle soup filled with the same tasty noodles. Unfortunately said bowl was infiltrated with evil spy agents from the North trying to ruin Kpop, KDramas, the Samsung chaebol and everything else quintessentially South Korean! Evil came in the form of seafood that had maybe not been removed from the ocean in 2011. I was more upset than when I found out Rain was joining the army...bad shrimp, octopus and questionable scallops. Then again perhaps a piece or two was bad and queefed their less than fresh selves all over the rest of my beautiful bowl. I'm not sure. Seemed to be a hit or miss with decent and totally non decent pieces. I know, I kept eating it! You're shocked, appalled and full of questions. The noodles, OMG the noodles...super epic, deliciousness that's all I can say! Fortunately the bad is followed by the good, most of the food here is excellent. Haemul Panjeon is a must. Galbi and samgyupsal at the BBQ table are always excellent don't forget to request sangchu(lettuce) to make a toasty meat parcel. Especially desirable when you need to shove a bundle "one bite", Korean style, into your boyfriend's mouth when he starts getting too lippy. "Oh I'm sorry what was that Chageeah(sweatheart)? I couldn't hear you with all of that delicious pork belly in your mouth!! WIDE INNOCENT SMILE :D On a last note. The bathrooom had less supplies than the Red Army in the winter, at the end of a very, very, long winter march. No paper towels, no hand dryer, no soap, VERY little toilet paper. All in all, bring a bottle of hand sand and get ready to eat some of the best handmade noodles you've maybe ever had. Te Hamingo!

Went there on a Friday night 6:30 we were the only ones in the place, even until we left at 7:45. Had the beef and shrimp bar b que. Meat was tasty but shrimp needed more taste or at least more sauce. For two people the side dishes didn't come close to previous pictures in reviews. Spent 50.00 on meal, I had better, so most likely will not go back again.

This used to be my favorite restaurant for beef besides Chima, that is, until ownership and menu changed. It's still good, but not special. Neat place to try something different if you've not had Korean BBQ before. The galbi (short ribs) is good, and my friends gave the mackerel very high marks. I also enjoyed the grilled marinated chicken. Also try Gabose restaurant for comparison.

Just had dinner with my family and the service was horrible. Unbelievable long wait times after ordering with entrees coming before appetizers. We had to remind the staff on numerous occasions of the items we were still waiting for from our order. All they could say as that they were sorry. The Kalbi came out without lettuce and salad and i had to ask them to reheat the meat so that it would be hot when the lettuce and salad was ready.they didn't see this as an issue. Afterwards I couldn't reduce my tip due to the bad service as they added a 20% fixed tip. The staff didn't look to make the best of a bad situation. Some times things go wrong at a restaurant, it's inevitable. It's how you handle those situations which speaks volumes about your service and customer service. In this case, they failed. I've been to the restaurant before but must sadly say I will never be back again.

Went back again yesterday, around 5:30p. We were the only ones in the restaurant, and the service was perfect and fast. Food was still good. There still wasn't any cold sake, though they did say they would charge us $10 for a bottle opening fee if we brought our own sake. Definitely like this place and seems a bit cheaper than Gabose.

I am so so glad I found this place, I really love Korean BBQ and I use to have it when traveling to West Coast or NY, but havent found (until now) a really good place, well look no more this is it, the menu is vast and my review is based only on bbq since you can sit at a non bbq table and order traditional soups or other things. We ordered the traditional bulgogi and galbi, and oh men, they were amazing, my only complain with this place is that they only have one waiter and although he was very good it was not enough for the place even though it was late and almost empty, the other detail was that I had to request for more ban-chan (side dishes) several times instead of having new coming. At the end they offered us a free smoothie as dessert, nice! I really, really recommend this place if you are into Korean BBQ.

I have tried different Korean restaurants in South Florida. I will say Da Mee Rak is my favorite. It's pretty far from where I live, but it's worth it. My friends and I have been loyal customers for at least 4 years. We might have gone less now since I used to eat there too much - so we might've overdone it. My good friend and I have always ordered the same dishes because we are just in love with them. I will try to spell it correctly - Yuki - raw beef **definitely not a dish everyone can try. If you can eat raw beef, I highly recommend it. Kimchi Seafood pancake - it's just so good!!! Fried dumplings w/ vegetable - they are tasty! The vegetable is actually kimchi based. Short Ribs & Pork ribs for grilling. That's one thing I do want to stress - there's an actual grill for people to do indoor grilling. If you have never tried Korean BBQ, you are definitely in for a treat. The customer service is always fantastic. I do miss the old group that used to work there because they were just awesome. The pricing is fair for the amount of good food you get, so don't expect it to be 'cheap cheap'. Thumbs up for Da Mee Rak!

Went here for Korean BBQ recently and ordered Galbi and Bulgogi to grill. Both were tender (NOT chewy ^_^) but the Galbi was the favored of the two due to it being more flavorful. Galbi was cut Korean style rather than California style with the 3 short ribs. Price seemed a bit high considering you only get two strips of beef ribs. Quality compares favorably to many Korean BBQ joints, but not to D.C./NYC/L.A., etc. If I didn't compare Da Mee Rak's BBQ to those cities, I'd give it a 4...Cheaper prices would've made it a 4.5. Side dishes (ban-chan) were excellent as was the service. Soon-dubu (soft tofu soup) was quite good. Happy eating! As an aside, Shikhe (rice punch) comes in a can and not fresh which is an egregious error for any Korean restaurant. But hey, maybe the good folks in FL just don't care for it.

We were actually trying to go to Minji's Cafe to to fulfill our Korean munchies cravings. Unfortunately they were closed but I was really craving for some ddukbokki and Da Mee Rak was in the same plaza. We went in, the place is very nice and clean. And unfortunately again Da Mee Rak didn't sell ddukbokki (which I hope they will consider to add to their menu in the future!). So I ordered some kimbap and Jap Chae instead for take out. The waiter (or perhaps he was the owner himself) was extremely nice and courteous. I would definitely love to come back on another day to dine in for a special occasion (as it is quite pricey).

Just recently moved from NYC to Ft. Lauderdale and being from NYC we tend to be spoiled with the best of the best. NYC has always been known to having best ethnic food restaurants you can find. I use to frequent a Korean Restaurant in Flushing Queens which blew my taste buds away. I didn't think for the life of me that I would find a place down here in Florida that would do the same. Well long and behold this place did it. The food was fresh, tasty and simply delicious. The waiter was so kind and pleasant. So far I've had the Chicken, Beef and Shrimp Korean BBQ and my taste buds were extremely satisfied. The prices are also reasonable for the amount of portion of food. From a Retired NYPD Detectives point of view I highly recommend this place.

It is an excellent place for local korean bbq restaurant. i was there recently for my birthday and i think this place is awesome! We sat at the BBQ table and ordered 2 traditional korean dish. I had a Silken Tofu Seafood Kimchee Soup that was EXCELLENT, and we also got a rice dish with runny egg on top that is served with beef in a very hot "stone" bowl. As for BBQ we got medium spicy "Galbee." It was SOOOOOOOO good. We also got beef tongue, and this beef (i forgot the name) and also octopus. The octopus wasnt a big hit because it was a bit chewy for some people. Overall it was a great experience I loved it there! P.S. Do not wear anything that is not machine washable since you will smell like bbq afterwards.

I was happy to find a Korean restaurant in south FL. The food is ok but over priced. The spicy fish soup didnt have fresh fish in it. it was a frozen fish steak that was tough and dry. The Galbi was pretty good but the portions are small. Maybe because i'm from NY, i have higher standards for korean food but since there arent many koreans in S. FL, this will have to do.

OMG I found my new home! Went there on a whim after seeing many positive ratings on yelp , was looking for a cheaper alternative to Gabose... but what I also found was one that was also superior... I have to happily say the reviewers didn't steer me wrong on this one!!! Staff was the friendliest that i have encountered in a very long time. There were 3 of us and everyone was very happy. We had the chicken bulgogi and the beef bulgogi, Kalbi beef, some amazing fried dumpling, and an order of Tteokbokki (hot spicy rice cake).. the sides were plentiful and kept coming. The cook even came out to ask us how it was and gave us the most flavorful and refreshing salad! I must agree with Wilbur C.. the meat was a much higher quality than that at Gabose and it was also seasoned much better. my only negative and it was very small was that I wasn't a fan of the Mochi, but part of it was that I dont like green tea ice cream.. the other part was that I felt the outer skin was too thick, flavorless, and not chewy enough. but even with that THEY GET AN A! I will be coming back many more times! Thanks for the great meal!

This was my first time having Korean BBQ and it was "all that and a bag of chips." The decor-intimate and trendy. The service-good. The food-crazy flavorful. **Note: If you are dating someone that you really are attracted to, they are willing to try new foods and you can see yourself potentially having a long future with them...then this is the place to eat. So, check it...I ordered the Korean Barbecued Beef Short Ribs and the BBQ pork, which was Very very good!! The flavors in the BBQ sauce are super tasty. The sides were good too and their Bubble tea was really tasty...This is a good spot to eat...I will BE back...

NICE PLACE, people are super kind, my son loved the shrimp and the bulgogi was better than Georgia. I didnt know about the yelp coupon so that was a bummer, but over all affordable. We'll be back :-)

I hail from Southern California where they have some of the best Korean food outside of Korea. So when my wife and I found this spot, we were both excited and apprehensive at the same time to try this place. We wanted to show my wife's side of the family what Korean food had to offer, and luckily this place did not disappoint. We started off with the standard galbi, chadol, and samgyupsal trio of meats (marinated short ribs, thin beef brisket, and pork belly). There is a decent spread of side dishes (banchan) which are bottomless (free refills). And we had a hot stone pot bibimbap and soontofu soup. Both were good. And in true Korean fashion, there was plenty of beer and soju. I felt that this place was a decent representation of Korean bbq/cuisine. Not one of the many Chinese/Korean/Japanese--teriyaki/sushi, mix everything together type of places. After reading many of the reviews on here, I take it that the place is under new ownership, because the owner told us they've been there for only 4 months. With that said, the menu compared to many aforementioned reviews is different. So take it from an actual Korean guy to tell you that this Korean restaurant in south Florida is actually a good one. Cheers.

This place was just ok, and I had high hopes for it. First off, I love how many grill stations they have. We did not grill our own meat, so that might be where we went wrong. I came in a group of four. We ordered the seafood pancake. It was very good, but thinner than other places I have been to. They had barley tea, always a plus. The bulgogi was good, but I felt that the portion was a tad small. Also it was served on top of onions that were not cooked, even though the dish was sizzling when it came out. The galbi had the same issue with onions, and the meat was not fall off the bone. Actually quite a bit chewy. I would pass on this dish. The black bean noodle dish was not authentic at all. The sauce was incredibly thin and the noodles were of the packaged variety and not the fresh ones. The meat it came with was near impossible to chew. When we asked the server if one was enough to share, she said it was small, so we ordered two. They portion is very large, and we did not really like it, so we had two huge bowls of it left on the table when we were done eating. The banchan was plentiful. They gave us almost 10 different dishes. The banchan was pretty generic, but we were able to order seconds of the ones we did enjoy. The bulgogi came with lettuce, as some yelpers mentioned, we were not charged extra for it. I was however missing the rice. With everything we ordered, we did not get any rice on the side.

Cheaper than Gaboose and better. The waitress was so sweet, gave us free dessert. Really fresh and tasty. Just like being in Seoul. Visited there 3 yrs back.

Unfortunately, I was informed tonight, while at my second visit to Da Mee Rak, that the owenership is changing. How sad for the wonderful, highly passionate family, that serves such tasty food! Perhaps the next owners shall keep their service as wonderful, but only experience will tell. Stay tuned.

Great Korean BBQ exprerience and good service as well. Definitely coming back here. We had the Bulgogi and the bimbimbap rice bowl. I recommend the marinated meat as well

This is my first time having Korean food. I was skeptical at first because I'm not a very adventurous eater, but much to my surprise, it is very enjoyable! Although I do not have any other Korean food experience to compare to, this restaurant gave me a positive experience!

I attended a friend's birthday dinner here. In order to get the full experience we decided to cook for ourselves. The food was good, well seasoned and light. The staff was friendly and attentive. They explained the menu since it was our first time dining there. They didn't seem bothered by our questions and they didn't rush us as we dined. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed myself.

Went on a Saturday afternoon and it was pretty quit. My girlfriend and i wanted to try something new. The place is traditional Korean. Menu and signs largely in Korean with english translations. The host and waitress made us feel very comfortable and welcome. Very friendly. Not being Korean they helped us navigate the menu and find dishes we would like. The food was delicious. Nice portions size and reasonable pricing. Fun place to out with a group. Def worth a try if you're in the area!

Solid Korean food! I ordered the pork/rice cake bokum extra spicy and that is what I got, along with six banchan plus a nice serving of kimchi. The bokum was loaded down with lots of kimchi and rice cakes with a nice amount of pork. The spice level was almost at my desired level (I know they always tone it down for non-Koreans). The kimchi was well made and had that nice tang to it. Banchan included bean sprouts with sesame, steamed water spinach, steamed broccoli with curry gravy, pickled zucchini, daikon pickle, and one other dish that doesn't come to mind right now. Service was friendly and prompt. BBQ grill tables are available for larger parties. The restaurant is located in the standalone building in the parking lot of the strip mall that includes Minji Cafe.

My experience at this fine establishment was absolutely posititively impeccable. The staff, both two dashing young ladies, were highly personable and charismatic, preparing the food while also managing to enrich myself and friend with the Korean culture. After a short wait for the food, we were served with smiles and hospitality. The dishes were rich, with well proportioned servings and a delicate aesthetic. As I finish with my meal and this review, a pang of sadness fills my heart, knowing that I have to part ways with newly made friends and unparalleled cuisine. Bravo!

Happy to finally see a Korean BBQ place in South Florida. Please venture, and taste a little of everything, you will be happy you did. We had the Chadol (thin marbled tender beef) the Galbi (slightly sweet-marinated short rib) Sam Gyup Sal (pork belly) Everything was delish!!! If you're trying Korean for the first time these are tried and true picks! My hubby is Korean and we live in California. We were visiting my family, and this place was nice to find so my family could try Korean delish eats!!! Everyone loved it! What's not to like, tender beef cuts, pork belly, and ribs??? Sign me up! We had the Bimbimbap. It's rice with yummy veggies and a gooey fried egg on top, a definite crowd pleaser!!! Just add red sauce (Gochujang) it can be mild or spicy the amount of sauce will determine :) We had Soondubu. Softened tofu soup. The tofu is very tender and soft much like a soft mozzarella. The soup is seasoned with red pepper, garlic, tons of other amazingness, and loaded with veggies. It can get spicy but you can ask for mild if you're a rookie :) Overall very pleased with our meal, and service was excellent!

I finally got around to trying Da Mee Rak. The reason I have delayed, is because of the wide variation in reviews, and the changes in ownership, I was hesitant to try, but I finally decided to just throw caution to the wind, and try it out for better or for worse. Here are my observations: Pros: 8, count'em 8! Korean style BBQ tables. Very friendly, ( & beautiful) Korean ladies staff. Affordable option to Gabose. 8, count'em 8! Korean style BBQ tables. Meat was superior to Gabose, & half the price. Lettuce & Mushrooms & Onions for the meat. 8, count'em 8! Korean style BBQ tables. Dedicated Korean restaurant / menu, no sushi, a pet peeve of mine. Do one thing & do it well. Parking & location very convenient. Cons: Banchans were OK, not bad, just OK, could use improvement. Salad same, OK, not bad, but not stellar. This place definitely has potential! Like I said, it is an affordable option to Gabose which is priced out of sight for regular Korean BBQ visits, (at least for me) like for lunchtime & it is not crowded. I was told the restaurant has been opened for 13 years, under different mgmt. Current owners are a Korean family that were previously in the Korean supermarket business in Hollywood. On my visit, there happened to be a large group of Korean ladies, like I guess the local Korean women's auxiliary?? First it was a group of five, then like 10, and they kept coming in, by the time I left it was like 25! I think the staff was kinda caught off guard, but I was encouraged by this meeting of so many local Koreans, & at the same time was amazed at how many Koreans are actually making S. Fla home. Thankfully I had already put in my order. This was at lunchtime BTW. The meat here was the star attraction. It was tender, flavorful, and marvelous on the gas grill table. Could not have been tastier. One suggestion would be to include green onion along with the mushrooms for grilling, it is kind of like a MUST for the BBQ. There were a meager amount in the salad. Charge for it if you must, but make this an option. I tried both the Kalbi and the Bulgogi in one sitting, & I ate EVERY last morsel. As for the banchan, I would like to see eggplant, radish kimchi, yellow daikon, and drop the broccoli. Your banchans are critical to the meal, focus on improving these. Overall was very happy with the meat, I am giving 4 stars will definitely return for the full Korean BBQ experience. ATTN MGMT!! ------- please, PLEASE take note of the suggestions, they are constructive criticism, I believe Da Mee Rak has potential to be really fantastic. Hope to give 5 stars next few visits.

First time at Korean BBQ. Very good food. Waitress was very nice. I would suggest you go in after researching Korean specialties beforehand as I did find it a little difficult to know what to order. Menu isn't very descriptive. Trying Gabose next time to compare.

I sauntered into Da Mee Rak and quickly noticed I was the lone gunman aiming my sights at their menu. As I scanned it for targets a group of uncharacteristically boisterous Asians burst through the front door. There were so many I had a flashback of a gambling/feeding frenzy I'd witnessed at the Seminole Hard Rock Casino craps table. You thought that game was just for 40-tippin', bleezy smoking thugs from South Central..WRONG..Koreans run dem 7s and 11s. After a bunch of apologetic bowing the host pointed toward the NE corner of the plaza. More on that later, right now let's get to my experience. Usually I don't eat alone like I'm Steven Glansberg... youtube.com/watch?v=_ZjH… ...but my windows were getting tinted nearby and I had some time to kill. Here's how I did it -- Banchan - more like 'blandchan'. I'm not one to look a gift horse in the mouth, but I'd only eat these complimentary veggie apps if I needed more fiber in my diet AND there was a global shortage of Fiber-One bars. Dubu Buchim - pan fried tofu was lacking the crispy outer layer I'm accustomed to but the accompanying seasoned soy sauce was bo$$. Daegu Chigae - seafood stew in a deadly spicy broth. Daegu means cod and that fish was well represented. In fact I had to keep checking my mouth for fishhooks because my soup shared two characteristics with the 'chumsicle' that makes frequent appearances on shark week -- 1. previously frozen 2. full of fish carcasses There were so many racquetball-sized pieces of fish I could've sworn they were trying to get rid of it. Plus I felt like I was going through some aboriginal initiation ceremony because I was getting repeatedly stabbed around the face and mouth with fishbones. I don't expect to find that many in a soup, and I consider it laziness on the part of the kitchen staff. The broth, mussels and shrimp were all on point though. Gyeran Jjim - I said put-an-egg-on-it and they listened -- ifc.com/portlandia/video… An egg is just a delicious unfertilized bird. Mix a yolk with beef's fibrous 'tendoncies' and they'll be best bros. So what do you do with all the left over whites that don't belong in Bibimbap (meaty fried rice) or Yukhoe (steak tartar)? It's whipped into an omelet with scallions in a hot pot filled with beef broth. Fluffy, savory, and best of all...compliments of the chef. Korean BBQ - They excel at this, but I feel like that's like saying you're really good at drawing circles with a math compass. Do-it-yourself BBQ restaurants have been around since Genghis Khan was shooting arrows from horseback; it's not that hard to do well. After packing up my substantial leftovers, I draw my phone to use my $5 for $10 Yelp Deal. The server that's even more mild-mannered than Prince after a deep-tissue massage, a cup of chamomile tea, and a xanax let out a loud gasp. I watched him scurry around the restaurant asking everyone deal? or no deal?. After he called the owner I was told, no deal! Apparently in the time that I purchased my gift certificate and redeemed it, DMR had changed hands. There are ten Korean restaurants in Broward, the majority are peppered around the area where Lauderhill, Plantation and Sunrise meet. It's closest we'll ever get to NY or SF's Korea-town but DMR is perfectly acceptable if you're getting anything that walks. I'd steer clear of anything that swims. Rony Mō and the gabby gamblers can agree on that and they didn't even risk a meal there. Your best bet is to hit-up Minji's in the NE corner of the same plaza. yelp.com/biz/minjis-cafe…

This is Southern Florida's best (or only) bet for Korean BBQ. Luckily for South Floridians, this place is safe. The menu is rather extensive, and they serve more than just BBQ. For the sake of this review and because I couldn't eat everything on the menu, this is all about the BBQ. Beef kalbi and chicken kalbi is bursting with fresh flavor and it's not over poweringly sweet. Banchan (Korean side dishes) were fresh and delicious. The service was extremely exceptional. Our waiter didn't seem to stray far away from our table and made it so we did the least amount of work required in Korean BBQ dining. (Note to those unfamiliar with Korean BBQ: It's mostly DIY with a built in grill in your table.) Be sure to go crazy in the karaoke room after dinner. If you have dinner and use the room, the alcohol is discounted!

I can see how the servers need a little help. They barely understood enough to take my order. Why 5 stars then? Well, because the menu is the most extensive Korean I've seen in South Florida. So many soups or broths, including the less common stuff like the boiled chicken for vitality. BBQ (with fan) and casseroles for two. Fried fish...lots of choices, good choices for noodles. even some stuff I wasn't sure about. tried the soondobu jigae (seafood) asked for very spicy--Korean spicy :) and gul jun (oyster omelet), served already cut with plentiful oysters, tasty eggs and nice sauce. the soondobu, lots of tofu, watery side, heavily spiced. 6 panchan -- nice eggplant and tiny fish with string beans entree prices $15 and up (huge portions), soondubu $9 given the other review, maybe they don't do everything well. good thing there was no bad karaoke when I was there. also had the kalbi (cooked by the kitchen) the flavor was excellent (i like it sweet) -- could have cut the meat better (across the bone), pieces were a little too thick bean paste tofu soup (miso flavor) massive japchae

I wish I could give zero star but I can't..... this is NOT so real Seoul as they said. I ordered three meats combo and they bring me with cooked meats...(not so korean tradition) and there was only one server for entire place.....he does everything. We had to wait so long to get something........and most sadest thing was thr rice was burnt.....u can def smell & taste it.....if u can't cook rice right.....idk if this is consider asian restaruant.

The restaurant is under new management and it wasn't good before so I was interested to try what new items they might have. Since my friend and I were hungry and she wanted Korean BBQ. We chose a place close by. The service was mediocre and the food was below average. The price for the amount of food was not worth a party of two. The quality of the food felt like it was sitting in the kitchen for a long time as well. We went on a Friday and the place was dead.

Te Hamingo!

Not a good idea to start charging for the second round of side dishes... Ruins the whole experience of going to a Korean restaurant . The portion of food is small. The taste is average will not be going back.

NICE PLACE, people are super kind, my son loved the shrimp and the bulgogi was better than Georgia. I didnt know about the yelp coupon so that was a bummer, but over all affordable. We'll be back :-)

Unfortunately, I was informed tonight, while at my second visit to Da Mee Rak, that the owenership is changing. How sad for the wonderful, highly passionate family, that serves such tasty food! Perhaps the next owners shall keep their service as wonderful, but only experience will tell. Stay tuned.

Bravo!

I've been here for almost 8 months after changed all managements and menu. I definately recommended this restaurant to all of my friends. Every time, i tried out different kind of dishes.

Good BBQ and nice variety on the menu. Prices seem standard. I would highly recommend if you have a hunkerin' for good Korean food.

Been looking for a good Korean restaurant in/near Miami for a while and this place is great! Brought a small group of my girlfriends who have never had Korean BBQ and they enjoyed it very much as well. Wish this place was closer to Miami but will definitely go back!

Cheaper than Gaboose and better. The waitress was so sweet, gave us free dessert. Really fresh and tasty. Just like being in Seoul. Visited there 3 yrs back.

Had dinner there tonight with my wife. Very low key place. The food is very fresh and very good. I would recommend it to anyone interesting in trying a new Korean place. It will not disappoint at all and the service was really really good.

Everything was great till I went home and found out 2 days after I got charge twice on my account, I called back the restaurant and told them, they said it s kind of one of my friend's fault that they dnt check the receipt?!?! Wow!!! And even better the said they gonna hold my charge till my friend go and pay their part!!! Wow! Please tell me it s my fault?!?!?!

I've been here for almost 8 months after changed all managements and menu. I definately recommended this restaurant to all of my friends. Every time, i tried out different kind of dishes.

Cheers.

Te Hamingo!

Been looking for a good Korean restaurant in/near Miami for a while and this place is great! Brought a small group of my girlfriends who have never had Korean BBQ and they enjoyed it very much as well. Wish this place was closer to Miami but will definitely go back!
