I have eaten here a few times. Appetizers, meal and drinks will run about a hundred for two people. The soft shell crabs are outstanding. The ambiance is dated and dark. It's almost a time warp to the seventies. Service could be better for the price.

Went about a month ago and have eaten here on and off for years. Quite honestly it's been so hit and miss the last two years with the Maryland crabs that we stopped going. Many times we go and they just are not great quality or there are so many mushy meat rancid crabs we end up sending half of them back. We decided this time would determine whether we ever came back and the were DELICOUS, hot and fresh. We sure do wish there was more consistency of quality with this place because we do enjoy it. Since there aren't many places to get great Maryland style crabs down here definitely give them a try and don't hesitate to tell your server when you get the bad mushy crabs - send em back. My three star rating is due to the quality inconsistency issues they have.

I'm a fan. This Maryland Crab House Shack is where you can find the good blue crabs. When they bring them to you its in a bucket and you just eat them off of the table. I am from Florida and have never been to Maryland to eat crabs, it was a pretty cool experience. I went with a large party and they did not have a problem seating us. They had a few fish tanks that were interesting to look at. They have a full bar inside. They have a large selection of sea food to choose from all the way from conch chowder, blackened flounder, and of course blue Maryland Crab. We had Key-Lime pie for desert. It was great!! The service was punctual and on top of things. I would like to go back some time soon.

Please skip this place. I'm with Gianna on this one. This place is totally overrated and pretty terrible - except the Maryland crabs. You might as well eat at Red Lobster! (Did I really just say that??)

Racism is alive and well at Riggins's Crabhouse in Lantana: My husband ( a black man from the Caribbean) was on business and went to have some Garlic Crabs. We've have been there a couple of dozen times whenever we are in Florida. Well this time will be the LAST! It was a busy night and my husband asked if he can have his dinner at the bar. The hostess said it was fine. When my husband sat at the bar, he asked the BARTENDER for a menu and the bartender replied " I AM NOT SERVING YOU". You heard me right, in 2009!!! Can you believe it??? Now mind you there were some non-black people eating at the bar. My husband asked for a Manager and they sat him at a table, thats it. No apology, nothing. So I think it is common practice now and maybe they are aware and condone that kind of behavior at Riggins. When our money is as good as anyone elses', so, so long Riggins. We will happily take our business elsewhere. If you are a person of color and just plain mad about what happened to us...STAY FAR FAR AWAY from this DUMP. I am so sorry my husband didn't call the MEDIA. But this will have to do to get the word out. Oh, you guys should hang the confederate flag too!

I'm like the other guy, I didn't feel like working for my food so I ordered the fish and chips. Looking at all off the crab around me made me wish that I had ordered crabs but oh well. The fish was great, the hush puppies were Awesome. Service was sloooow and the coleslaw just gross. I will go back and order the crab to see what really is going on.

When i planned my trip to florida, the only food I knew I had to get was Crab Nachos. Riggin's satisfied that want and then some. A++

I've driven past this place and wanted to try it for years. It's an old restaurant- no frills. The service was alright for a busy night, but the star of the show was the crabs- King, Snow, Stone, Maryland, Blue... and the list goes on. I didn't even try the sides (why bother, it's a crab restaurant, not a side dish restaurant). It's worth a trip to Lantana for this place.

This is a Maryland style crab house. Unlike most of the crab serving places in this area that focus on stone crab, this place is all about the blue crab. I had dinner here last night...didn't feel like working for my dinner...so I ordered shrimp with linguini. I go shrimping every year in Louisiana, and know very well what a good shrimp should taste like. I'm not sure if these were old, under cooked or what, but I actually left a couple sitting on my plate. The piles of blue crab being delivered to the tables around me looked very good...maybe I should have stuck to their specialty. Laid back atmosphere...large sheets of newsprint for table clothes. Easy access...right off the interstate.

I was sent a Birthday wish and a letter to come in and get my gift. When I presented it to the server he came back and said"we have no gifts at this time." Come back next time for your gift. The dinner was overpriced. We sat down and my wife ordered a steak, that came out raw. The side of slaw was in a small side cup. $21.00. Not worth it. No bread on the table, while we waited for our meal. No server came over to fill our drinks unless we kept waving for him. My two VERY SMALL soft sh. crabs wer fired without any coating, they were fried in the oil and the oil had a burnt taste. They hadn't filltered it and it was gross. What an overpriced 2nd rate resturant. Buy the way, the two small soft sh crabs, with a small side (very small cup) of slaw and burnt curly fries cost $28.00. What a rip off

This is a double whammy place: a restaurant and a seafood store. Restaurant: I went here twice to enjoy picking crabs and they were the good ol' Baltimore Old Bay type crabs and served by people who seemed to want us to enjoy our meal. No atmosphere, family run kinda place but the crabs are good so bring your own entertainment. The store: It took me several visits to realize my requests for the large size crabs I had in the restaurant would never come to fruition as they only sell small-to-medium size crabs in the store. Don't bother trying to pay more per pound for larger ones- go to a local fresh seafood dealer for large crabs if you have a dinner you want to cook- you will never get them here. What would rate more stars? A dining room that has some atmosphere and a more fair pricing system for crab sizes in the store.

Pretty decent outing. I'm from up North, and not a shellfish person..but my sisters and brother loved the blue crabs, and the king crab legs. I ordered the shrimp 3 ways...pretty good, no complaints. No desert, as we were pretty full. The waiter was attentive, and I give him kudos for his patience as my sisters took forever to make up their mind as to what they wanted to order. Sort of a cafeteria style setup. Don't expect a romantic type restaurant or anything like that. Overall satisfied with the service, and with the price. Five of us and the bill was a little over $200..not bad. I would go back if I am in the area.

One star for the prompt seating and cold beer. Terrible service, very slow, we had to ask for everything! Went there for stone crab claws, very disappointed as most of them smelled of ammonia. We will never go back. Expensive for what you get.

No way does this place deserve more than 2 stars. Not that the food was terrible or anything but, ridiculously overpriced!

I come visit riggins every time my hubby and I visit floria. The Maryland crabs are awesome and really do the job. It's not the most beautiful place in the world, but I love it. The buffalo shrimp is amazing and I find myself craving it every day. I can't wait to go back.

A friend recommended we try this place. I have to give 4 stars instead of 5 because the ambiance could use some work. It seems like it's not well kept from the outside and to be honest the inside is dimly lit and could use some updating. The service and food (the things that really matter) were incredible. Let me just say, please get the crab cakes. They are unlike any crab cake I've ever had and are just mind-blowingly delicious! The staff is super friendly and quick. My husband got a seafood dish with a red sauce and everything was cooked to perfection. We also tried the clam chowder and as a New England native, I thought it was pretty good! All in all, definitely worth a try. Don't judge a book by its cover, it really has a lot to offer. We will be back!

Well being a Marylander I gotta say this place was a must try so why not make the drive to Palm Beach County? Well with Maryland 'style' crabs on the menu, is was a no brainer. Now if anyone knows anything about Maryland, good and bad you know Maryland is for crabs as Maine is for lobster, plain and simple. There are NO substitutions, with the exception of when you're not in Maryland. We got there and were immediately seated. Ironically enough the table behind me was from Maryland in fact they were from the DC area I came to later find out as they were sporting Washington Nationals gear and they scoped out my Baltimore Orioles hat. Back to the food, I got my sweet tea on order, and I get the all you can eat blue crabs "Maryland Style" of course which should be lathered with Old Bay seasoning. Now the disclaimer from the waiter was they are small so I said well it's all you can eat so that doesn't matter to me. Now out come the crabs looking good. The crabs in general were over steamed for sure in fact every tray that came out was like this and quite the disappointment. To add the seasoning was most certainly not Old Bay but more like a food companies version of their old bay, I mean it was spicy and making my nose run. Old Bay does not make my nose run. I asked the waiter what the spice really was and he tried to actually sell me that it was Old Bay, after a swift reminder that I'm actually from Maryland, he back tracked and fessed up that it wasn't Old Bay. Ok, now we are past that on to the crabs themselves. The crabs were very thorny and yes they were blue crab I guess but the waiter also stated they were from the Gulf side of Florida I think North of Bonita Springs. Now I will say that service was great, no it was and the waiter was really nice. I am sure other seafood there is really good perhaps but please DO NOT try and mock Maryland blue crabs, this is south Florida, and it just will not work. I saw a framed letter from the Ocean City, Maryland Mayor praising them that they'd give crab houses in Ocean City a run for their money and I must say that the Mayor must have been high on something because that statement is completely false. No wonder a South Florida crab house framed that letter. Will I be back? probably not. This review was only to review the "Maryland Style" all you can eat blue crabs and the service. As far as the table behind me, they too were not impressed.

Worst Father's Day dinner ever!! We walked in and noticed the place was warm right away, By the time the appetizers arrived we were sweating profusely and canceled our order. The menu prices should afford you a better AC. We will not return.

Hello fellow yelpers! I'm in town for a little vacation and my girl had a taste for steamed crabs so we asked around and was directed to this spot. Keep in mind that my review is only about the price; nothing else. We asked for a dozen of steamed crabs seasoned with Old Bay of course but to our surprise, the price came up to 60$!! We felt that was too much especially not knowing if we would have liked them or not. So we headed next door to Publix and got 3 pounds of steamed crab legs perfectly seasoned with Old Bay for 21$ which were delicious and much meatier than whole crabs!! Next time we are in town, we know where to go for crabs!

I've been coming here for years and the food was great. I used to come about once a month with a large group of friends, but the last couple of times the crab and lobster was overcooked. I ordered the New England Bake last night, MP on the menu ($37.99). The clams, mussels, and shrimp were good, but my lobster was rubbery. My friends that accompanied me agreed that the quality has declined. I really want to like this place. Maybe I'll have to try some new things on the menu if I decide to return.

Great local place with fantastic crab! Ask for waiter Carlos and try their crab stuffed mushrooms! Their clam chowder and their crab bisque are both very good! Stay away from the corn on the cob and fish fry - stick to the crab and you won't go wrong!

Recently went here on a Monday night and they had all-you-can-eat stone crab claws.WOW!! They were large,Cracked to perfection, and server Marianna bought more as soon as I had eaten the previous plateful... Whenever I'm in this area you can bet I'll be at Riggins crab house !!

This is an affordable place to have crabs. You name a crab dish and they have it. Great food and service. The decor is like stepping back in time. It is worth the trip.

Went with family of 6 to celebrate my bday. Service was awful. Anytime we needed something we had to chase down waiter. Not busy. Lots of servers socializing completely uninterested in helping us. They gave themselves 18/ tip. They never refilled drinks, cleaned up app plates or took away soup dishes. I called and spoke to owner who pretty much blew me off. Disappointed!

I visit this place every time I am in Florida. The place actually looks like a crab shack on a beach, unfortunately it is next to a Publix grocery store right off I-95. I always order the Maryland crabs which are nicely spiced up and delicious. I like that they don't give you plates and you can hammer the crabs open and suck out the meat without being too embarrassed. The buffalo shrimp appetizers are awesome and so are the curly fries! I'm going to keep coming back for more.

Just went to this place for the first time & Im bummed it took me so long to find out about this place. It is def a trek for me since I live in down town Miami & this is in Lantana (above Boca...almost at Palm Beach) but it's worth it! For those of you who have been to Rustic Inn Crabhouse you definitely need to do yourself a favor & try this place. I'm not sure if they accept reservations by phone; if they do I highly recommend you make one cause we had to wait about 40 minutes BUT it was well worth the wait. This place is truly for the crab lover... don't bother with soups, salads, or sides! The place is alot like the rustic inn in that the ambience & decor is not the best or the highest standard. You just go for the crabs....that being said - lets get down to it!! They have the best crabs for the price. We got a dozen of Maryland Style Crabs with Vinegar and old Bay Seasoning.... there were three of us and still had 6 left!! Amazing rub they put-on the crab - and the price is far better than Rustic Inn (sorry) you get a helluva lot more bang for ur buck here. They have all you can eat crabs too for about $30 pp.... and they are not skimpy size crabs either. So going back again ...... as they say "happy as a clam" (or crab in this case)

So I suggested this place to my boyfriend before we go out to see Safehouse, major embarrassment. I gave each star for each good thing and no star for each bad thing (that's how I grade.) First Star: Wait staff was ultra inviting and very attentive and funny. Decors were also lovely, my boyfriend is an islander (Haitian) so the paper on the tables were new to him. Second Star: My Calamari (Appetizer) was amazing. It tasted very fresh and the batter was not overpowering at all. Last Star: I just gave this star because I would return, but I wouldn't order whole crabs, or maybe female crabs. Maybe we'll go for crab legs instead. Now the bad, (dun dun dunnn) First Star: My boyfriend ordered mussels, he got about 10 and about 4 of them were empty. Second Star: We ordered a half dozen medium female crabs and 4 of them were pregnant. I wasn't too thrilled about that honestly. Some people enjoy that, my boyfriend and I on the other hand didn't so much. But our only option was to order medium females or small males.

Had a great Christmas Eve dinner, awesome garlic crabs & Maryland crab sampler. The garlic ones were very messy ( expected ) but they were the best we ever had. Joanie was our server and couldn't have been nicer. She instructed us how to open the Maryland ones since we didn't know how. Very helpful . We're from Staten Island and have a condo in Lake Worth, will be relocating here soon, so we will be going back there again and again. DELICIOUS ! FIVE STARS ALL THE WAY ! MERRY CHRISTMAS !

We stopped in here after attending the Lake Worth Street Painting Festival in February. The air-conditioning was not working, so we sat in the bar where it was cool. The softshell crabs did not taste good, and the shells were not tender. Service seemed like an after thought. We have eaten here before, and had good quality food and service, but this visit has made me take them off my list of places to go.

First I will start off by saying that my girlfriend and I love sea food so when I came across riggins crab house on yelp I was excited to try it... That being said here is my experience... Went on a Friday night for date night... We arrive to this older building hidden in the back northwest corner of the Publix plaza on lantana road and 95 the building it self is clearly in need of a face lift however I just assumed its part of the " crab shack" motif they are going for... We walk in and was greeted by the hostess who was not too friendly... the place wasn't as busy as I expected for a Friday night but after waiting for about 5-10 mins we were sat in what looked like a comfortable booth, however once you sat down you immediately noticed the booth cushions were in dire need of replacement as you immediately sank into them ( me and my GF are both small framed people). The table was covered in a large white paper table cloth and as I noticed everyone around me smashing hammers on crabs right on the tables around me it made perfect sense the reason for the paper table cloth.... We look over the menu and people watched as we waited for about 10 mins for our server to greet us...I could immediately tell that the hostess wasn't great at her job as it looked like our server had just been triple sat so he was clearly in the weeds... However once our server did greet us he was friendly and explained the menu and what they are known for, Maryland style crabs... We decided to order a Pepsi, water, and a glass of Chardonnay along with the fried gator to start, and 1/2 dozen medium sized Maryland crabs as they we already out of the large ones... Drinks came out a few mins later... Wine was not bad for a house brand and very reasonable priced at $5 a glass the pepsi however came out in a smaller plastic glass that I pretty much consumed with my first 2 sips which caused the need for many refills throughout dinner... The fried gator came out and was fresh and very tasty! Then about 10 mins later the crabs came out... We were handed some lobster bibs (which I highly recommend you wear regardless of how cool you think you are) 2 wooden mallets and 4 wooden poking sticks... And as it was our first time eating Maryland style crabs our server explained what I now know to be the tedious and messy process of dissecting Maryland style crabs! We went to work with our wooden mallets got dirty and had a blast... the crabs needless to say were great! After dinner I headed to the men's room to wash up and must say they are in dire need of a facelift. The sink looked like it was going to topple over had it not been stuck to the wall with tons of caulking... Paper Towel machine was the automated kind and was not working... I will say that I can see myself going back to Riggins crab house again however a few pieces of advice... This is not a place you want to dress up to go out to eat especially if you plan on getting Maryland crabs as it will get pretty messy... Try the Maryland style crabs...Wear the lobster bib no matter what! You must be very patient when you go here as their service is very slow def not the place for you if your all about the service...however the food is good and priced well... Our bill was $58 for 1 appetizer, 2 glasses of wine, a Pepsi, and 1/2 dozen Maryland crabs.... The reason for a 3 star rating is because of the slow service and dire need of a facelift to the dinning room and restrooms..

Tried looking past some of the negative reviews to give this place another try since my last time in years. Recently moving to lake worth, I was feeling optimistic and hoping to have a new crab spot instead of having to schlep out to the whales rib or rustic inn. Getting there, it was great being able to have a bar to wait at until our entire party arrived, $6 for 2 pints, friendly bartender. Party arrived, and as we were walked to our table, I was pleasantly surprised that the place was more rustic/charming then the old stuffy place I remembered. Our waitress was excellent. She promptly got us our beer and put in our appetizers immediately, granted we were literally 1 of 3 other tables in there who were finishing up. Appetizers came out quickly. I got a clam chowder and the a dip for the table which were very good. Now on to the main event, garlic crab. A dozen ran us about $40, and for a myself who has been eating crab my whole life, the dozen small blue crab was a pretty intimidating portion. Digging into the first few legs, it was rather mushy but sweet and flavorful. Getting down to a few crab at the bottom, the meat was brown and foul, which I further then avoided and discarded about 2-3 entire crab of the dozen. After about an hour of caveman style hammering and technical forgery as my family waited impatiently for me to finish as they finished long ago, aside from the discarded, I deemed myself victorious with room to spare. Although we did stay past closing, we felt no pressure from the staff to leave as they did they're closing routine around us. Even offered dessert or coffee when we were finished which I thought was nice, thinking that they all wanted to get out of there. After going home feeling ok about the experience, a few hours later our stomachs turned for the worst, but I won't go into detail there. In short, great service, good atmosphere, excellent apps, cheap beer, but the quality of crab is why I'm giving 3 stars to this crab house. I can't say I'll be back unless I see some newer reviews raving about the crab, but it seems I'm in the same boat as the other reviewers who had the same experience.

Went to Riggins Thursday night for the first time in a very long time. We would have left after observing the outside of the building but were meeting another couple so we ventured in. The outside is dilapidated as well as unkempt and looks like it belongs in a third world ghetto. The inside is shoddy but clean. Our friends were seated so we opted to stay even though the atmosphere was dismal. We were surprised, and gratified, to receive TOP NOTCH service and the food was wonderful - maybe the best and freshest blackened fish I have ever had. My husband had the Lobster Pot Pie which was brimming with flavorful lobster in an excellent cream sauce. Each member of our group of four "foodies" was very happy with their dinners. The servings were generous and the server was excellent. It is just a shame one cannot enter the building blindfolded. This is, at best, a tacky place with nothing to offer in the way of ambiance but we would return because our meals were great.

The mussels and clams were great, lobster was a little over cooked, but the flavor was good in the New England clam bake. The King Crab was perfect. I personally like a little spicier food but all in all it was a good meal. Our server was nice, friendly & knowledgeable and prompt. I would recommend. It's pricey

We went based upon friends recommendations. Very unhappy with the food. Sautéed soft shell crab was mushy and bland. Maryland crabs were just okay. Mussels were bland and too many were unopened. Based on the appetizers, we decided not to order any entrées. The service was pleasant enough but there are many better seafood restaurants nearby.

Had dinner with old Friends in town from San Diego. We had a great time and the food was amazing however, the waitress misrepresented the price. She said that the price on the special was $39. When we received our bill it ended up being $66. We had ordered two of them. When the manager came to our table she said that the waitress did tell us the price when in fact she did not. The manager said it was our fault for not asking the price. When have you ever been to dinner when the waitress pitched a dish but didn't disclose the price. Poor integrity and bad management. I wouldn't eat here again an cannot recommend it.

This is a nice old fashioned family style restaurant. 3 of us ate a dozen medium crabs some fries and buffalo shrimp and smoked fish dip. Drink prices very fair. It was not busy. Excellent wine by the glass prices. My complaint was that every other crab (blue $80 doz for mediums) was mush inside. No ammonia smell, but the meat did not break apart it just was like paste. The waitress replaced with new crabs but it was more of the same. Mush. Fish dip and buffalo shrimp were delish. But right now the crabs are what not to get.

Went there during late lunch on a Wednesday, a few tables. Ordered the Florida oysters to start, they were plump and delicious even though out is July. The dozen Maryland crabs were not cheap at $69, what they called mediums were more like large size up north. Had one that ammonia smell, they replaced, the rest were great!!! Service was just fair for slow restaurant... I will go back for Hammer Time!

The best blue crabs in FL. We are from Maryland and this is the closest thing around If you get a crab that is mushy they will gladly replace it with a good one

After living in SoFlo for 7 years, I finally made it to Riggin's last night for a casual dinner date with my girlfriends and the experience was a giant let down. The restaurant is in a seedy area and it was a little scary to walk through the poorly lit parking lot. As soon as I walk in I was immediately greeted by a sign that stated they were out of the Maryland and Garlic crabs (their specialty). I was disappointed to say the least because Maryland style crabs was the reason for my visit. Alas, we were hungry so we figured we would make do with other menu items. The over cleanliness of the restaurant leaves a lot to be desired. The roll of paper towels sitting on our table was stained orange(yuck) and the seats were kind of sticky. Service was unattentive and very slow. It took 20 min for our order to be taken and I had to remind the waiter 4 times to refill my drink. For appetizers we ordered- maryland style calamari (the one redeeming aspect of our meal) and hush puppies (burnt and flavorless- total waste of precious calories). I ordered the Atlantic Clambake for my entree and not only was it bland- moe than half of the mussels were closed (a telltale sign that it isnt fresh) and I felt that it had more boiled potatoes than actual seafood! All in all, I dont think I will ever come back here even though I really wanted to try the "famous" maryland style crabs. Ill wait until I can find an excuse to visit the Northeast.

While the food was great, the service left much to be desired for. Drink refills took long, mostly because the server didn't come by often enough to notice. From the moment we walked in, there were 7 of us, we were told it would would be difficult to sit us because we should have called ahead. Meanwhile, we counted 6 empty booths, of which 4 remained empty the whole time we were there. All in all, if you're very patient, the food will be your reward.

Wonderful King Crab: Garlic/Old Bay, Large chunks of delicious Bacon in the loaded Baked Potato! Topped off with a piece of Peanut Butter, Chocolate Banana Pie Over the top! Party of 5 Surcharge??? 22% Automatically charged into your bill! Waiter became annoyed and rude because we didn't "Double Tip"!! Very unprofessional and might not go back due to their 22% surcharge!!

We have eaten here a couple of times over the years. The seafood is always good, the prices reasonable and the service average at best. It is usually crowded with locals so that tells you a lot. Recommended if you are not high maintenance.

Big sign visible from 95 Lantana exit and you weave through lantana center parking lot to find Riggins restaurant tucked in the back corner. Okay so I guess I'm a Floridian really now because it was the earliest I've ever entered a restaurant on a Saturday night in my life 455p!!! And it was busy. Easy to see why when the food started to arrive through friendly and efficient service. High quality fresh well prepared seafood and ample portions kept everybody happy. At the price of crab unless you really enjoy the ritual of picking them apart go for the crab-cakes they're awesome. Nothing fancy here just fresh food served well, enjoy.

I am originally from Baltimore and love Blue Crab. This is best (and only) blue crabhouse in South Florida. The atmosphere is crabhouse like (tables with paper and benches) noisy with hammer banging etc. I like it alot. This is my first review although we have eaten here about 20 times before - usually get the AUCE garlic crabs, however they are not as consistent as i like - many are light and hollow, several are overcooked and potato like, but since it is AUCE it's not worth complaining (just order more) The steam crabs are excellent and best in the late summer early fall season (sold by the 1/2 or full dozen) and usually a little expensive This is a good place to come with friends and plan to send a couple of hours eating, talking, and enjoying the company with the food.

Not a fan of this place. It's old and crusty inside, the food is really expensive and tastes and smells like it was microwaved. We went for a birthday and my party all got sweet tea and all got sick from it. The crab cakes aren't that bad, so I'll give it 2 stars. Better off going to old key lime or something.

Good service. I got the sword fish grouper style. Very good. My wife got the clam strips which were good but the vegetables were not ( but we didn't go there for vegetables did we?). The clam chowder was good also. We had coffee after and it was a little stale.

The only reason this place doesn't get 5 stars was the service. Very slow on the drink refills. That being said, the crabs were amazing!! I would highly recommend this place if you want crabs.

Well, let me start out that this one star I put on here is an overstatement. I normally don't put ratings anywhere but this one had to get one. Att least a negative one at that. Our table of "6" was with two children under 3 was treated with gratuity added. I mean really? Then we were charged more for the horrible crabs that we didn't order. We were supposed to know the difference between two types of crabs when we ordered and were SUPER SHOCKED when the bill arrived in this dirt hole. Waitress rolled eyes and rushed us out, took butter from us and we had to ask for refills, served wrong potatoes, JUST A COMPLETE DISASTER. I took my daughter here and it was great over 4 years ago and it was great. Unfortunately they have lost a customer for life and we will never go back.

Was one of my fave's but has gone so far downhill I'm almost ready to give up. Not very busy, yet lousy service. Peel and eat shrimp so overcooked you couldn't peel them. Two of us ordered same crab dinner but portions huge variance. Tough to get waiters Attention and after a while you just chalk it up. Unfortunately this seems to be a pattern on our last couple of visits. Get it back together folks or you want make it much longer.

Being from Maryland and then moving to Florida, going out for crabs was pretty low on my list of things to do. I visited Riggins multiple times with my family and have to say this place is excellent - ESPECIALLY their crab cakes. I think the best I have ever had! I ordered the larger portion for dinner and it was more than enough. Will certainly be back!

Came here with a large group. There was something for everyone. The kids enjoyed trying the fried gator. Both kids and adults enjoyed the Maryland crabs, King crab legs, clambakes, crabcakes, etc. Our server was very fast and very attentive. The ambience is definitely real crab shack - not fancy at all. Paper is on the table for cracking crabs and paper towels are plentiful. Would recommend this restaurant.

One this I miss about moving out of FL... RIGGINS !!!! This place has the best crabs in West Palm Beach. They throw down the crabs on the table and smash away. Crab, Beer and excellent desserts. Don't expect good service because thats not what this place is about. Crabs and drinks. A+ Skip the side dishes and you will be fine.

Its a crab house. Go here for crabs. It's a crack your own, get messy type of place. Set you expectations as such and you won't be disappointed. I went her last night night with a friend. 0 atmosphere. Our waiter explained it all (how to order crabs) and made some recommendations like not ordering too much at once as he can just as easily bring more crabs out vs the crabs sitting there getting cold. He also recommended and let us try a local beer which we ended up really liking. We started with a 1/2 dozen Maryland style crabs (steamed with old Bay). They came and we went to town....messy and time spent, but fun and delicious. Washing it down with the beer was a great combo. With 1/2 dozen you get a side so we ordered the garlic parsley potatoes...these were decent but nothing to get excited about...back to the crabs. We then ordered 1/2 dozen Garlic Crabs. While they were good, I think i prefer the simple steam and Old Bay. The crabs are the same, just difference in preparation. The crabs were a bit on the small side so our waiter just ended up throwing some more crab legs in our bowl from the fresh batch that was just made. The side we ordered with this was their homemade potato chip which was actually quite good. We also ordered hush puppies for $4. They were just ok. Go here for crabs, you will enjoy.

The outside of the building looks like it could use a coat of paint, usually this states that the owners don't care or are not involved. I had the early bird...fried cod fish with a choice of 3 different chowders, coleslaw, one side, coffee and dessert for $14.95. I had the clam chowder, born and raised in New England I've had gallons of great chowder...this was not one of them;it's wasn't creamy and didn't have a nice clam taste even though there were plenty of clam pieces.. fish was good with a lite brown batter, that tells me fresh oil. I got the curly fries, which were not curly but all broken up and not crispy. Everything else was good, hard to screw up store bought apple pie.

This is the perfect little, dirty whole in the wall. They had a full bar and the waiter's were cool. One told another patron (at another table) that maybe he should slow down ad actually taste the crab. He kept ordering more and more crabs and inhaling them. I thought it was GREAT. Seriously, the place looks sketchy. It is awesome. There is a market on one side and a restaurant on the other. There are 3 dining rooms, a bar/lounge, the kitchen, and then the market. My Aunt's white Russian was perfect. I had an Arnold Palmer. You could order maryland style crab by the size and quantity. You could order just the legs, in broils, salads, cakes, etc. I had the admirals feast which included the legs of king, snow, and dungeonous crab legs. You can pick from three different seasonings. I chose garlic butter and my food came out covered in browned garlic. They were hot and cooked perfect. Well worth the cost. It took a while to get our food but it was worth the wait. And to employees eat the food assured me that it had to be cleaner then it looked. Yes, I'm a tourist but I think I know good seafood when I get it. I appreciate it more because I'm Land locked and red lobster just ain't what's up.

If you are looking for a great place to dine with succulent crabs to eat. This is not the place. We were there late March 2013. My two daughters ordered a dozen crabs, they were so small that every time they hit them with the hammer, you'd have to search for whatever small pieces of meat came out. My husband and brother ordered the shrimp Alfredo, it contained so much oil. Bottom line is that we won't be coming back. It's definitely not worth the $200.00 that we spent. We should've gone to the Waterway Cafe in North Palm Beach.

Good place for fresh seafood and crab dinners. There's also a fresh seafood market on premises on the other side of the building. I stopped here for a late evening dinner last Saturday. The place has a lounge area and three dining rooms. I was seated in the center main dining room which has the atmosphere of a typical Maryland crabhouse and several small fish tanks lined inside the wall divider. The menu offers mostly seafood including appetizers, chowders, soups, salads, sandwiches, dinners, pasta, crabs, lobster, surf & turf, desserts, kiddie plates, and Coke products (no free refills on soda). Beer, cocktails, and full wine list available. Most prices for dinners are moderate in the $10.95-$23.95 range. Early Bird Specials (before 5:30 PM) and Daily Specials are offered here including All You Can Eat Garlic Crabs ($24.00) and a New England Clam Bake ($35.95). Check out the menu at rigginscrabhouse.com I ordered a bunch of food to try out. The Bowl of Maryland Crab Soup ($4.50) was pretty good, which had shredded crabmeat & crab claw in a spicy tomato broth. The Bahamian Conch Fritters (6 for $5.50) were tasty and greasy deep fried balls of conch & spicy cake filling served with cocktail sauce & garnish. The side of Garlic Linguine ($2.00) was oily and topped with lots of fresh minced garlic. For dinner, the Riggins Sea Raft ($18.95) had a good portion of greasy fried seafood (catfish, shrimp, clams, oysters, fried cod, & garlic crab), greasy curly fries, a cup of sweet cole slaw, tartar & cocktail sauces. The garlic crab (in the shell) was very good and the deep fried seafood was fresh. The only quirk was that the whole fish with tail was entirely deep fried, and I needed to debone the fish, additional work to deshelling the crab. I skipped dessert, which most of the desserts are made by a local baker. The service here was very good and attentive with several refills given on ice water, timely delivery of food and clearing of used dishes. LOCATION: From Lantana Rd (the east side of I-95 Exit 61), enter through the Lantana Shopping Center (traffic signal) and hang left past Publix and the "fenced-in" Riggins Crab House is visible on the right.

Went at 5 on a monday. 1 star for location, hard to get in/out of plaza that we had to cut thru to get there. 3 stars for service. Got the early bird special- ALL SIDE DISH, very little entree. Suspect crabs are good, and seemed reasonable (at least on all you can eat garlic crabs). May go back to try the coconut shrimp sliders too.

We have been going to Riggin's for nearly 18 years. Our service last night was the worst we have ever experienced. Our waiter Matt had to be summoned multiple times to get basic requests. It appeared that he was assured of the 18% gratuity for a party of six and didn't care about providing even mediocre service. In addition, all three couples ordered 1 dozen large crabs at $75/dozen and were told that large crabs were a la carte and did not include sides while the less expensive medium crabs did include sides. We bought this to the attention of the owner's sister, who made lame excuses for why they could provide 50 cents worth of fires or cold slaw with large crabs. On top of that, I ordered desert with decaffeinated coffee. Well it is 1 AM and I'm wide awake because Matt gave me caffeinated coffee instead. If and/or when I go to Riggin's again, I will make it a point that I will not accept the automatic 18% gratuity to the waiter or waitress and management. I will decide on the amount of any tip.

My wife and I always order the dungeness crabs with the garlic and oil on the side. Not once have we left Riggins disappointed. The prices are fair, and the service is good (not great). Definitely a neighborhood hole-in-the-wall type place, but the food keeps us coming back.

Both the Bellman and our waitress at the Ritz Carlton referred us to Riggin's for seafood "locals style." We had stone crabs, which was just what we were after. They were excellent. Curly fires were good, the cold slaw that came with the meal was just OK and the portion was small. Apparently they also have a seafood market.

Can't wait to come back for some more crab! they offer all you can eat crab for you real crab lovers. Don't forget desert its supposedly homemade my favorite so far between the apple pie and the peanut butter banana pie definitly the peanut butter banana yummy !

I come down to Florida once a year and eat at Callero's Steakhouse in West Palm Beach each time for their fantastic Prime Rib. The Callero's website said the restaurant is closed while it moves, but that you could find some of Callero's menu at a place called Riggin's Crabhouse in Lantana. We looked at the menu and looked at the reviews - even though the service was said to be terrible we decided to go for it. We're very thankful we did as all three of us had the best meal we've had in ages and the service was great. Our waiter explained our best bets for ordering and was very attentive. The service was so good we found the manager and told her how much we appreciated our waiter. She was surprised to hear the reviews were bad and after our experience I don't get the issues others have mentioned. Back to the food - I ordered the Prime Rib and it was a gorgeous cut done perfectly to my specifications. It was also much cheaper than Callero's Prime Rib! Yet I think I might have missed out because the other two in my party got the Garlic Crabs and the Admiral's Platter (King, Dungness and Snow Crab legs) and both dishes were fantastic. My uncle loved the garlic crabs even though it was a little work intensive getting the meat out (as it would be for any crab place), while my Aunt loved the huge crab legs and getting all the meat out with ease. We even ordered one small Maryland Crab (beer and old bay boil) and really enjoyed that as well. Obviously much less messy than the garlic crabs. Now, the ambiance left something to be desired, but as long as you're willing to embrace the "sea shanty" experience and don't expect Taj Mahal, there was nothing wrong with the setting. I was also underwhelmed by the side dishes, especially the Cole Slaw, but by the time we were finished with the meal we knew we had found our "new place." We gorged ourselves on wonderful beef and seafood for a total off $100 ($33 each). Also of note, we ordered half a dozen garlic crabs ($14) and a platter of at least 12 was put in front of us. Don't know if that's typical, but we certainly appreciated it. This is my first Yelp review, but after seeing folks bag on Riggin's service and after getting treated like a king, I had to speak up for Riggin's food and service.

I had blue crab once, years ago, and I haven't had the chance to repeat the experience until tonight. I was in the area visiting my aging mother and I took her and my sister to Riggin's for something different. We are from New England and my mother loves all kinds of shellfish, especially lobster, and she doesn't get anything very good at her retirement home. The restaurant was exactly what the Yelp reviews led me to expect. A humble place with butcher paper on the tables, and the sound of wooden mallets pounding whole crabs, cracking the shells on the table. We got there around 5 on a Tuesday night in late November and it was not crowded at all. We had crab cakes and Maryland crabs. The crab cakes were the best I have ever had. Ever. Anywhere. Bar none. The blue crab was great, and fun for me since I love wrestling with shellfish. And, surprise, the default side dish of coleslaw was great. I ended up being the crab wrangler for the table since there are a couple of moves that require some hand strength. That was fun, too. And, as promised, we were all gooey, spicy messes by the time we were done. Man that is one messy meal. Fabulous! MInuses? The service was spotty. The vegetable side dish was overcooked. They didn't detract from the experience, though. I enjoyed it and I'm going to go again. You should, too, if you want crab. Oh, and don't go here before the prom. Way too messy.

My mom does love the crab cakes there though...

    (4)
  • Steve S.

I come visit riggins every time my hubby and I visit floria. The Maryland crabs are awesome and really do the job. It's not the most beautiful place in the world, but I love it. The buffalo shrimp is amazing and I find myself craving it every day. I can't wait to go back.

We have eaten here a couple of times over the years. The seafood is always good, the prices reasonable and the service average at best. It is usually crowded with locals so that tells you a lot. Recommended if you are not high maintenance.

  • Alex T.

The crab is ok, the other food is blah. I do like the paper tablecloths. The whole place is pretty run down...

Had an amazing time the other night with my boyfriend and family the food was great. Started out with stuffed mushrooms, spinach and artichoke dip, and peel and eat shrimp...... All great! Meals just as good. Our server Daniel really top off the night with he's over and above service. Thanks so much for a great night. Can't wait to come back for some more crab! they offer all you can eat crab for you real crab lovers. Don't forget desert its supposedly homemade my favorite so far between the apple pie and the peanut butter banana pie definitly the peanut butter banana yummy !

First I will start off by saying that my girlfriend and I love sea food so when I came across riggins crab house on yelp I was excited to try it... That being said here is my experience...

I have eaten here a few times. Appetizers, meal and drinks will run about a hundred for two people. The soft shell crabs are outstanding. The ambiance is dated and dark. It's almost a time warp to the seventies. Service could be better for the price.
