Used to be one of my favorite spots...not enjoying the food since the merge- too bad. Great food and wonderful atmosphere! We went for dinner and sat in the outdoor dining area (there's an outdoor bar, and indoor dining area, too), which was lovely. The service was excellent- very attentive. Our server told us about the drink specials and helped us decide between a few menu options. We started with the loaded cottage fries, which were covered in cheese and bacon. I had the pulled pork tacos and he had the cheeseburger, and we were both very happy with our meals. The food was excellent, cooked to temp. and made with extremely fresh ingredients. You can sub just about any side, of which there are a lot to choose- which thrilled my husband, who hadn't had tots since we moved down here. They also have great drink and appetizer specials, if you get there early. As we were leaving, the hostess asked what we thought of the place, if we'd be back- and then told us that there's something going on every night (music, trivia, specials, etc...). The owner/mgr. stopped by our table a few times, to see if we were happy with the place- nice touch.

Great casual restaurant. Highly recommend the grouper or Dolphin. Overall nice relaxed environment. Great value

Used to be grumpy grouper before merging with lantana jacks. Dinner tonight, great kid waiting on us. Kitchen was slow, broccoli was steamed to death, pigeon peas and rice were room temp and no seasoning. Cocktail sauce was delivered frozen after several requests. Prices have gone up, $20.99 for 6 fried shrimp. This is the end of what used to be a great, no frills , fresh fish restaurant. The grouper is actually Baso fish, would be concerned about safety, freshness of what they serve. The grumpy grouper in lake park was about what you experienced in their original location. Three people for dinner and the bill with tip was over $100. Sorry to lose grumpy grouper in lantana but stay way away from this place. From the few patrons dining tonight word may already be getting out and no manager in sight to show any interest.

Stopped by for a drink at the outside bar. Karaoke was going on. Fun crowd but bartender was lacking personality and it was $12 for a beer and a mixed drink with one liqueur. Drink was super weak and prices were ridiculous!

Went to jack's grumpy grouper to try to catch happy hour. Arrived around 6:00 and sat at the outside bar. Outside area was not full but only one bartender was working for both inside and outside. Watched bartender chat with patrons, even share cigarettes with one, but never came to us. Waited twenty minutes and never even got a hello, or I'll be with you shortly. Left the bar and no one said a word. Guess we can spend our money elsewhere.

It's been 3-4 years since we were at Grumpy Grouper at the old location..Not a good experience but thought we would try the new location on US1. Jack's Grumpy Grouper is even worse that it was years ago. You would think that a place called Grumpy Grouper that they might actually have real grouper.. NOT!. They push Asia catfish off as grouper and it may fool some of the tourists that go there but I think it's just Fraud! I was told that I could get "real" grouper if I paid $5.00 more when I ordered the grouper sandwich..But!! then the waitress came out and told me that they didn't have any grouper. So the only three things on the menu that offered real grouper wasn't even available. How about that!! A place that is called "Grumpy Grouper" doesn't even have grouper!!! SO.. we ordered the conch and shrimp fritters with Mango Rum sauce. It took over 25 minutes to get it and it had more corn than anything else. Plus the Rum sauce was just tarter sauce..With corn salsa.. Place is just as bad as it used to be..NOT GOING BACK!!

Loved this place and can't wait to come back! If I lived in South Florida, this would be my fave hangout. The guy who runs this place managed one of the Breaker's off-site restaurants, so the quality of food, beverages, and service is superb! Great specials on drinks and eats.

What a nice surprise. Stopped by for lunch to suck up some free Wifi and AC and stayed for a spell. The staff was on it and kept my iced tea glass full, which is a challenge if you have ever seen me on a hot day. The soup was everything I could ask for and will definitely be on the top of my list next time as well. I ordered the lunch special of tacos and they were the perfect compliment. Light tortillas perfectly prepared with generously filled pulled pork tacos garnished with lots of fresh veggies and an expertly prepared pico de gallo. Whether you fancy the outdoors or inside, your tummy will thank you. Well done Lantana Jack, you kept the home town charm and delivered a world class meal.

Stopped by on a Friday night for some grub. This used to be Lantana Ale House and I had one of the best Mahi sandwiches there. Not sure if the same cook is here or not but what we had was pretty bad. First of all the beer I had was on the warm side so they're obviously not chilling the beer to the correct temp. The fried pickles were cooked in what looked like filo pastry not batter. Interesting concept and not a way I've had them before (Brus Room have the best fried pickles around) but the pastry was burnt, fell off (or rather slid off the pickle) and had a weird taste to it. The waitress was pleasant and I asked her what the most popular dish on the menu was to which she replied that the ribs were "awesome". They were definitely fall off the bone but they were extremely fatty and obviously not a prime cut of rib. Also the sauce had a weird taste, almost too vinegary. I've had a lot of ribs in my time and this was definitely the weirdest tasting sauce I've had on ribs. I picked through a few ribs but the taste was too overwhelming. I then ordered some shrimp for my daughter and they were obviously frozen and chewy. We sent them back and asked if they minded grilling or sautéing them for us. When the waitress brought them back they were obviously just thrown on the grill with zero seasoning or oil/butter and were very dry, chewy and had that coating of black soot often found on grills that are not cleaned often. We spent $70 on food with two drinks and it was definitely not worth it. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Go! Go to Lantana Jacks! Locals know the location has housed some dubious establishments in the past, but that is all past them now. It still has it's rather rustic feel -- that shot the bartender placed in front of you is a freebie dished out to bar guests every time a train passes. And sure, the music can get a little loud -- but the food and the cocktails! Splendid. A recent party of four all sampled a different quaff off the creative beverage menu and all were pleased. On another visit, the sweet waiter recommended a special martini -- we each had two! Just don't go for that amazing lobster bake special on Friday nights -- they run out and I don't want to get shut out. Burgers are terrific and apps like coconut shrimp are scrumptious and prettily presented. I've got my fingers crossed for this place -- the food is good, service nice and setting amiable. So, go!

Stopped by for a few beers. New joint in town. Hoped they would have done some kind of welcome to the neighborhood grand opening but Naaa. Changed the signs - real bad paint job but it's more about the food. Didn't get to try any food was a little on the expensive side. Will try another time

So I had bartendended at this establishment through the previous 3 owners which actually the original owner took it back over before eventually selling it to to the current owner bringing the grand total of bosses I had here to 4! I've seen so many changes go through this restaurant setting as how I also bartended across the street. Most people don't realize just how huge this space is, unfortunately there aren't many establishments that could utilize all the space unless a Duffys or ale house took over so when you see the empty inside don't be fooled. The construction renovations they did were fantastic! The food is very very fresh and its a well thought out menu, service is impeccable, Justin the bartender is ON POINT! I currently manage a high end restaurant and am very critical of other establishments, so please understand when I say go there, you really should listen to me, this place has stepped up its game here and hopefully can turn this place back to what it was 10 years ago!

Very good food and service!! We went to this restaurant Thanksgiving Day, they took real good care of us and the food was great. Unlike another restaurant Flakowitz that we tried to eat at about five miles away!! We didn't get a chance to eat there as they were so rude at the door!

Food was mediocre at best. Had to send well done steak back when I ordered it med rare. Wife's Mango Salmon didn't come with Mango sauce. Everything served with a cowboy size scoop of tex mex rice. Steamed potatoes was the other choice on the night we dined. Place was empty, service slow. Our waitress was from the bar area and had to look at our dinner menu to figure out what we were ordering. Bar crowd looked like they were having fun. Out door bar built over the parking lot. Noisy street traffic. Go for the drinks and the hanging TVs in the bar. Skip the restaurant.

Stopped here for lunch yesterday with co-workers. It was nothing special. In my opinion it's a less exciting version of the Old Key Lime House. I had the shrimp wharf sandwich, which was just ok. The shrimp was good, but the bread was kind of hard and they only give one dinky little piece of lettuce that fits on maybe 1/4 of the sandwich. Otherwise, it was just an ok stop for a quick bite to eat.

We came for an afternoon lunch on the patio, it was a beautiful day with the perfect amount of breeze. I had one unfortunate experience the whole visit which is why they did not receive a perfect score with me. I ordered the Spice Trader which is explained on the menu as: "Rum, lime, & sugar make a classic daiquiri. We have traded up by adding worldly slices like cardamom and a coconut bourbon sugar rim." Which really sounded delicious, it came out in a martini glass with nothing on the rim...it tasted like lime and other citrus, but nothing like the description, cardamom is generally a pretty recognizable flavor and I didn't sense it in this at all. I'll just say the waiter didn't handle the situation like I would have. I questioned whether I received the right drink and he said it was correct, I explained that it didn't taste at all how it was described, and that a daiquiri doesn't traditionally come in a martini glass. Long story short after about 45 minutes settling with the drink I didn't order, I tracked him down and asked if he inquired with the bar about the drink, he said I didn't have to drink it and brought me a drink menu to order something else. Personally I feel the issue should have been handled during my first line of questioning...and that was a little disappointing. Other than that out waiter was polite and provided good service. The atmosphere was nice, food was good...it was my first time trying grouper, on a blackened sandwich, which I actually enjoyed.

Stopped in for a late lunch with somebody Tuesday afternoon. We walked into an empty hostess stand so we figured we'd sit at the hi-tops. Nobody acknowledged us so we just waited for something. The older woman at the bar didn't even make eye contact. We ended up walking out and going to Old Key Lime House. At least they know what customer service is.

Their happy hour menu is awesome!!! Had wonderful drink selections and what may very well be the most fantastic fish tacos EVER! Fresh grouper, salsa, avocado, pico de gallo made it just amazing!!! Everything about the restaurant resonates with Florida living. Outdoor eating with large fans spraying a cool mist! I am enthusiastically anticipating my next visit!!!

If I could give this place ZERO stars I would! Went to this place last night Had the calamari as an appetizer and it smelled really fishy, sure it was far from fresh. My wife had the burger sliders, the lettuce was extremely wilted, looked like it was on the verge of spoiling. I had the pulled pork sandwich, tasted good but looked like it had been sitting in the broiler to keep it warm for the whole 45 minutes we waited for the food to come out. Tables were nasty and sticky and here is the grand finale.................Today I feel like complete utter crap, I've had the sh!ts since last night, bombed my toilet soon as I got home from this place. My intestines have been explosive ever since! Sorry for the "T.M.I."

There are some shady stories about a few employees here. A customer claims she got jumped by at least 3 or more employees including a man....that came out of the kitchen door in rear and gang style beat her badly as she was heading to car ( over something that was spoken ). Says was hospitalized & has permanent injuries. WTF JACK's ?

I was on a mission to find a restaurant that can accommodate a party of 15-20 for a Vascular Journal Club near JFK Medical that I was sponsoring. I stopped by Lantana Jacks and ended up meeting one of the owner's - Charlie. He showed me their private room and they had hookups for ipads and laptops with two high definition TV's for presentations. I ended up booking the room and had the BEST experience I could have asked for! Our server, Kara made sure everything was going smooth, the food was perfect for the occasion and it was an overall SUCCESS! I have already booked my second conference here for August! Thank you Charlie and Lantana Jacks!!

Nice location but I couldn't say the same for the food- I tried the fish and chips and hush puppies. The fish quality was not the best tasting and heavily battered and salty in taste- the hush puppies were about the same with not much flavor. I had high hopes when I walked in- lovely display on the plate- I honestly wished I could share the same about the taste.

The food is a hit or a miss here. Some dishes are pretty good but others not so much. Peel and eat shrimp, and mussels were pretty good. Nachos are huge! Drinks are also not consistent. Sometimes it's all juice. I think it's a little pricey for what it is. But they have live music which is always a plus. Parking lot is cramped.

Great for Sunday NFL watching. Large outdoor bar with several tv's, drink specials ($2 domestic bottles) and a few food specials for $5 that were good. Definitely a casual dive bar.

Had good memories of the old Grumpy Grouper, so we decided to stop in for lunch. VERY DISAPPOINTING... $10 for cheese wiz nachos, and a $9 fish sandwich where the lettuce was thicker than the fish. I will say we had a very nice waitress and the pics of the local were interesting. Sad to say we won't be returning soon.

Wanted to find a local place to eat dinner. This was it! The coconut shrimp app was delicious. I had the grouper sandwich with sweet potato fries. It was just what I wanted. I would recommend.

I try and be fair because i wait tables and i know it can get hectic at times but me and my girlfriend ate here a few days ago and we were one of two tables and our waiter came got our drink orders and after that we saw him only to pick up the check. two other people took our orders and brought it to the table. idk where he couldve even went. anyways thats all from me. food was good.

Best item? Fish dip. We could eat just that. Blackened grouper? Delicious as I eat a lot of fish and this was fresh. Outdoor music? Tolerable. Maybe a suggestion would be to change the choices of musician... not impressed and in fact, we were glad when he went on break. Service? Well, it's Florida.... I'm used to fast and efficient....but it's Florida.. My standards are lower now. Great meal though, and consistently good food!

What a disappointment. I tried this place a few weeks back with a girl friend and the experience was not great.I think our server got fired in the middle of her shift or quit but something definitely went down with her. On my first visit we were up-charged for sweet potato fries ( no biggie at all) but we had to send them back twice because they sere so burnt or the oil was bad that they were black. On the 3rd try they were still not edible and I had to ask the owner to take the fries off, which I think I should have been self explanatory . My friend ordered a sandwich and asked if if had mayo cause she does not like it. The waitress assured her it did not and guess what... when it came out it was loaded with mayo. We left saying we would never no back. Well last night my husband really wanted to go there because they have a burger he likes. I had not been back but thought well I should give them a second chance. WRONG CHOICE. They merged with another restaurant, probably cause they were doing bad, and the menu was totally different. Mostly over priced seafood. They didn't even have the burger he wanted. I ordered the tacos which says you can choose 3 kinds. Well you can only choose one protein because they are pre-made as our server explained. I was so over it I ordered the guava pork tacos. I really wanted to like them but every single topping listed with the tacos was left out. When I asked our server where the salsa, pico, lettuce, avocado guacamole sauce was he informed me that they don't offer that anymore and they don't even carry salsa at all. So what you get is dry meat in a tortilla ( NOT what the menu states). The server was nice and ran to the back to dig up some toppings for the naked tacos. When the owner of the restaurant walked by I told him of the confusion and listing meals on the menu that you don't even serve and he blankly looked at me and said " Well if he's getting you some toppings it should be ok?" I left Lantana Jacks disappointed and more disappointed in my self for giving them a second try.

Don't eat, just drink!! And drink outside! They usually have a live band and the decor is pretty. Their special events rooms are a little small, but could work for an intimate wedding or small gathering. They have cold beer and okay staff outside! The inside bartenders are cool. The food is not fresh, so we just get the wings and have beers!

A gem. Laid back friendly atmosphere. Nice outside bar. Pool tables, bar games and big screens at the right angle from most tables. Chris took good care of us. The apps were hot and hit the spot. We all had burgers or sandwiches and had no complaints. They also have tots!

My wife and I moved into the area about 6 months ago. We have been to key lime house a lot so we decided to try something new with this place. Extremely disappointing. Everything was really mediocre. The service was weak and food took about 45 minutes for a fish and chips and a mahi Ruben. Which came out lukewarm. Menu was high priced for not that good of seafood. Definitely will not go back.

Went to lunch here today. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. We got the spinach artichoke dip which had just the right amount of garlic. The clam chowder was creamy with plenty of clams. We also had the blackened grouper sandwich. The fish was a bit dry and the roll appeared to frozen and microwaved.

I was skeptical about going there because the building has been host to at least three other bars in a short period of time. Maybe even more than 3 others. I went on a Friday night and sat outside. It was a bit loud due to a live band. I was going to eat inside but after looking in through the glass door, I decided not to. It looked like a scene out of Twilight Zone, or Addams Family. No one was inside except some undesirables loitering around. The place gave me the feeling of a locals only bar. I felt like everyone was looking at the new guy but that quickly faded. The bar tender was very nice and quick to serve me. I got a nacho dish loaded with pulled pork. I was told by the server that it was a good choice and that the pork is very good. I believed her like I do all bar tenders who are trying to be nice. However, after getting the meal, I had the same opinion that it was a good decision and really good tasting pork. I don't think an army could finish it. I barely made a dent in it. While I was sitting at the bar eating, the bar tender put shot glass filled with some unknown shot in front of me and a guy sitting next to me. I thought someone bought us a shot or something but no one said anything. I then thought maybe it was meant for a waitress to pick up. After it was infront of me for a few minutes I realized that everyone at the bar had one infront of them (at least 20-30 people). No one ever said "on the house" or whatnot so it was a little odd. However, pretty cool. I dont know if this is something that goes on all night or all the time or what. Overall, I had a good experience. The food was great. Seats were comfortable. The people didnt bug me. There were televisions around the bar and a good sounding live band. People seemed to be having a blast. People were dancing and talking with others on other sides of the bar. Dont judge a book by its cover I guess.
