Well, a year ago I swore I'd never set foot in this location again. But Sunday was my wife's birthday and she wanted BBQ. What a mistake. The food was cold. My wife ordered the pulled pork which she said wasn't too bad. I really don't believe that, because she knew I was pissed. The beans were lukewarm and her baked potato was cold enough that it wouldn't even melt the butter. The cornbread must have been kept in the fridge. Ice cold. The ribs I ordered were cold and so were the beans and the mac and cheese and the cornbread. I returned the ribs to be reheated. Before I sent them back, I turned the ribs over to feel the bones to see if they were warm and they were not. I made scratches on the bones with my fork before sending them back. The waitress took them and returned a few minutes later and told me these were fresh ribs. Funny how different ribs had the same scratches that I made with the fork and why would new ribs be turned upside down? There was one thing that was warm, though. I ordered a jumbo beer and it came out in a plastic tumbler that had obviously just come out of the dishwasher. I will never, ever come back again. Chili's has better ribs.

Just had some of the best ribs from this place! Have visited a couple of time throughout the years, but have never had an experience like this. There is a new manager there and you can tell he is getting this place back together. He was telling us that they're about to do renovations to the building. With the food being as awesome as it was tonight, I can't wait to go back and see what this place is gonna be like in a couple of months. He did mention that they will still be open inside with the reno, but this location has a convenient drive thru as well. Again, the food was incredible. Everything was hot and fresh and the baby back ribs were perfectly pink and falling off the bone. Great flavors and textures on all the sides too. Yum!

Inattentive service, cold side dishes, and menu items that don't match the menu left me with a sour taste in my mouth. Ordered the Family Feast with Mac and Cheese, and fries. Fries were bland, mac was cold and watery, entree was lacking the pulled pork pictured on the menu and when I asked about it the server told me it was a substitute item for the smoked pork, but it doesn't say that in the menu, nor was it explained. I felt like it was a "too bad, so sad" kinda response. Don't see myself coming back to this location again.

Disappointed for the second time at the Highway 98 location in Lakeland. We ate there last week and both my wife and I had an upset stomach afterwards. Our daughters burger was burnt after we waited too long for our order (they did take it off our bill and apologized). Not going back.

Great food, great service, decor could use some work but it can be overlooked. Get the redneck egg rolls, they won't disappoint. Also if you're in the Lakeland areas one, ask for the server Paul!

This place is rather disappointing. For a BBQ place in the south I expected much better. The mac & cheese is good and so are the sauces. The meat seems dry and old like its been sitting around for a few days. The portions are very small for what you pay. The drive thru is convenient hence the 2 stars.

I don't know why there are no reviews on this sonnys it seems to be completely erased there were quite a few last time I checked .but anyways. The first couple times that I've visited this establishment it was very un desirable. It was dirty, sticky, the meat was dry and very overpriced. But something has changed .the food was hot fresh and moist .the salad bar was just how I like it. They made a complete turn around and am thankful for it keep up the good work. My family and I will definitely be back

From my Yelp reviews, some people may know that I am a huge fan of this restaurant chain!! With that said, I am very familiar with the food. My visit here was on 8/11/15. This place captured the real Sonny's BBQ imagine overall. The food was delicious, friendly staff members, efficient service for refills on food/drinks, and I had no problems here. The location is convenient, reasonable prices, great tasteful BBQ, and as mentioned before wonderful staff members here. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone with a great appetite for BBQ.

Usually I always leave great reviews for businesses but I cannot hold my tongue on this one. This place is completely trash. The water tastes like I'm in Mexico and my fries were extremely cold - not even warm or fresh at all, as well as my other side of corn on the cob. Told the woman both were gross and not fresh. She just walked away, then came back later and said, how is the food? Replied with, I already told you how it is and you disregarded my statement. I just would highly recommend nobody eating here. Simple as that. Jessica - I already told you how the experience was, that's the whole reason of leaving a review. As far as my contact information I'd prefer to never hear from your business again and I will not be back. By the way the location of the restaurant is listed in the yelp business listing.....

Went through the drive thru. Placed the order went to the window and paid right away. Saw the cook placing my order at the window and call the girl to the window to give us our food and she did not come. I waited about 5 - 10 minutes and got fed up and went back in to get my money back. Was given the excuse that they are doing major renovations. Renovations have nothing to do with employee incompetence.

Although the service was good... my husband ordered the prize sandwich of brisket, onion petals, and mac and cheese. I ordered pork 3 ways. It wasn't even 2 hours later and we both were very nauseated. I was even worse the next day... threw up among other things. Its unfortunate because we both love the other restaurant in S. LAKELAND. But, after this experience. ... we won't be eating at this establishment ever again!!!!!

Describing this place as mediocre is being generous. We've tried it three times now, hoping for an improvement, but apparently none is to be had. So we give up. Service has generally been lackluster. And after two lunches and a dinner consisting of skimpy dried out meats, dry tasteless fries and soggy side dishes, in the future we'll vote for other restaurants with our hard-earned dollars. Three strikes and you're out!
