After rave reviews, I went in here with high expectations and less tolerance for error. I was disappointedly nonplussed with the place. Black & white checked floor appeared difficult for seniors to walk on. Soda parlor style chairs. Dessert window looked magnificent. Upon entry, it's not clear if one orders at a counter or waits to be seated. The specials board was not placed at a readable angle on the floor. I was seated by someone who doesn't take a direct line to your seat--speaing to seated customers as she meanders. Once seated I was passed off. No one came to deliver a drink. Hostess came back to get my drink. I asked for Diet Coke. She did not clarify but brought Diet Pepsi. (I order H2O if it's Pepsi but decided to bite my tongue.) She said my waiter would be right there. He did not come. I get a female waitress who must be fairly new. I ask if lunch vs dinner menus (in the same menu) mean time of day or portion size (eg. Can I order lunch spaghetti at supper to get a smaller portion?) No, lunch options end at 4 p.m. I ordered their sfogliatelle dessert as an appetizer. It's a small pastry with ricotta and orange zest. Unfortunately, it did not come first. First bread arrived. Sliced white soft bread with melted butter. Why wasn't it toasted or garlicked? Just overly soggied with butter. Not appetizing. Salad next. cold, okay, nothing to write home about, catalina dressing. 3 olives-not sliced. lots of shredded carrot. Waitress checks in and asks how the dessert tastes. It was just delivered. My mouth is full of salad. They don't go together. Can't she see it's not touched???? I decided I'd go ahead and try it rather than send it back for not coming as an appetizer. It was flavorful but dry and hard rather than light and flaky. Six bites. $1.50. It is made with marscarpone and orange zest. The orange zest was very pronounced and they do warm it in the oven but that's the reason it was not delicate--a reheat after sitting around. Better than I could make, mind you. Spaghetti comes piled high. Some of the spaghetti is chopped making it hard to swirl. Sauce is flavorful with garlic, tomato chunks, pieces of (tasteless) basil. Sausage is mild (I prefer spicy) and "mushy" or soft. I prefer firm and in a casing. No parmesan on the table. Though it's presented in the menu as a $9.95 item, it was presented on my bill as $9.25 spaghetti and $2.75 sausage. The portion was gigantic and I took half home. But disappointed to be charged $20 more than menu price. Throughout my meal people kept trying to snatch my drink for a refill. I don't WANT a refill. I budget the beverage to last through the meal. Finally instead of snatching the glass the waitress brought a fresh full drink in a separate glass. It sat there and was wasted. Waitress ignored my signal for a box. Someone else brought it. Check eventually came. $18 including tip (for drink I did not like, appetizer that came third course, improperly tagged entree price). The food is decent and flavorful, but I don't need to come back. For my tastes, Il Forno is far finer.

This is some of the best Italian food a person can find in Lakeland, even with a Carrabba's across town. I won't say it's as good as Carrabba's but for the difference in price it is definitely up there. The staff if always happy to see you and prepared do do everything they can to make your experience a pleasant one.

On a Friday night visit I expected Romeo's to be busy. However, I got a table pretty quick, noticing how diligent the busboy was to collect/clear/clean as soon as a table cleared up. Our waitress had a phenomenal attitude and didn't miss a beat (happy to tip 20%). My table didn't order anything fancy but it was all very solid. I was actually surprised at how much chicken was in my Chicken Caesar Salad. Not a couple strips but all of a sizable chicken breast. What impressed me the most about Romeo's was that the ever present owners/managers were actually contributing to the atmosphere and staff efforts. I have been to so many Italian (and otherwise) family owned restaurants where the Mom & Pop routine got in the way, made staff nervous and just came off as dis-genuine. Not at Romeo's however. Great staff Right prices Decent location Tasty food

I've been pleasantly surprised by this place. I didn't expect much from an Italian place in a strip mall in Lakeland but the food is pretty good. Generous portions, tasty calzones and pizzas, and a fairly quick pizza take out for lunch. The only negatives I can think of is that they're closed on Mondays and their salads aren't impressive at all.

Impressed. Got a personal pizza with Pepperoni. Sausage, Ham, Meatballs, Capocollo, Sundried Tomatoes, Ricotta and Gorgonzola. A ton of toppings, some fatty, but the thin crust pizza held up just fine. Good bite to the crust. Friendly staff, shame its in a smallish strip mall out of the way. But worth the drive.

Good pizza and great garlic knots!! Service sucked, but I'm pretty positive that was just our waitress. Everyone else seemed to be getting served quickly.

My friends love this place but I was skeptical, being from New York City - Little Italy and all. The fettucine alfredo was the best I'd ever had and the Chicken Caprese was to die for! We had excellent service. Wonderful place.

Everyone really enjoyed the food and service here. The garlic knots are tasty, and the lasagna is excellent. We're glad to have found this gem while visiting from Texas. The restaurant staff was very friendly and accommodated our small children well. We look forward to eating here again on future trips.

A couple different reviews for this restaurant: Pizza - 5 stars I'm partial to NY style pizza cut into huge slices that you pretty much have to fold in order to eat. The pizza they serve here is the closest I've been able to get to NY style so far in Lakeland. The toppings are generous, the ratio of cheese to sauce is perfect, and the size of a pizza pie is definitely adequate. Love their pizza! Their garlic knots are a little on the greasy side but they're definitely loaded with garlic and butter, which is great for us garlic and butter lovers. Pasta dinners - 2 stars Basically I only come here for pizza, because their pasta leaves a lot to be desired. I expect the pasta at an authentic Italian place to be above average at the very least. Here it was just plain old pasta and sauce, nothing special - like if you pour a jar of Ragu on top of your spaghetti noodles - basically that's what I'm talking about. I've had better pasta at chain restaurants like Olive Garden.

New owners and the quality of the food has gone down drastically. Ordered pizza and wings the other day and pizza toppings were light and the wings had to have been left over from the day before. They were way over cooked. So much so they were almost black. Did not realize that the place was under new ownership until that day. Used to eat there 2-3 times a month. Won't be going back and I am sure they will be out of business soon. Sad to see such a great restaurant destroyed by people that do not have a clue as clearly the new owners do not.

I see that my previous review was mysteriously deleted after I explained in detail how rude the staff is there, and lazy. Do yourself a favor and don't eat here, unless you want rude waitresses to NOT wait on you, while the new owner does nothing about it.

The food and service has drastically decreased in the past year. We used to go a few times a week now will never go back. We were told that we couldn't order pepperoni pizza after waiting more than 15 minutes to order take out at the front. The new owners are terrible they can't retain staff and will fight with them about pay in front of customers. Very disappointed with the entire experience.

This place was SUPERB!!! Don't leave Lakeland without making a visit. The owner and staff are fabulous. If you leave here hungry then it's your own fault. Not only is the food great, the portions are HUGE... Can you say "Let's Share." Nice comfortable diner type atmosphere. Didn't indulge in dessert, but it looked scrumptious.

I have been here several times in the past with the old owners and again with the new owners. Tonight they had issues with getting the food to the correct tables. Food is still delicious. I think they need Gordon Ramsey ' s help with organization.

The chicken parm is gross. It's processed chicken that was pre-breaded and frozen. The sauce was watery and the spaghetti was over cooked. The fettuccine alfredo had terrible sauce. When I can do better with a jar of ragu it kind of defeats the purpose of dining out. The service was friendly and the pizza is edible but avoid everything else

Nothing to complain about here! Great service and very good HOMEMADE food. I had a Ziti special that was outstanding. Great flavor and presentation. Our server was spot on and my wife's meal was very good also. Great mom and pop Italian. We will 100% return. The portions are huge! Plenty enough to split.

Pizza is good but predictable. Crispy crust with good coverage of topping and sauce. They really need to have s better lunch special menu. It's always soup and salad. Get creative please.

This place used to be good, when Mr. Lino was the owner. Now the food is not good at all. Anyone can see the game in the kitchen. The taste of the food is different. Only the service was nice.

I went with some friends to get some dessert to take back to one of their houses. My review is based solely upon the dessert and nothing else. I did not try any of the food other than the dessert. While my friends all got tarts I subjected myself to a slice of cheesecake I saw in the glass case. OMG - some of the BEST cheesecake I have ever had. That's it - AWESOME CHEESECAKE I did tell my friends I wanted to come back and try the food another time.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
