High Blood Pressure at Applebee's

Most of the foods served at Applebee's restaurants are high in sodium. Unless you are visiting the restaurant or dining here in the group, there are hardly any options from the main meals if you wish to keep your blood pressure in check. You can rely on a few salad options though. If lucky, you may find low-sodium ribs as well at the restaurant.

Avoid Green Goddess Wedge at Applebee's. Broccoli Cheese Soup and French Onion Soup contain over 1000mg sodium and hence must be skipped as well. Worst dining experience EVER! I ordered a "healthy" steak dish with barley that tasted like DIRT!!! Steak was ordered medium rare, but came out fatty and well done. I tried to choke (literally, it was so chewy and gross I almost did choke) it down as the picture looked great, but the second my boyfriend tasted it he called the waiter over and I got something else. His chicken fingers came out burnt and overcooked (how do you mess that up?!)! We liked the idea of 2 for 1 happy hour on well drinks, but these were horrific as well. Spinach/Artichoke dip is the worst I've had! We should've sent that back too. Crying children filled the restaurant, and parents walked out to the parking lot and left their toddlers unattended at the table... We were shocked, not having children ourselves... Somehow we ended up spending just over $50 on two people. We wonder where it went to on the bill. Drinks weren't cheap and not worth what we were charged. We won't be back.

Had the worst service of any place Ive ever been. My check arrived b4 my food. The waitress was very rude. Complety ignored my wife when she asked for condiments. Upon leaving i left only a small tip because of my service. The waitress thanked us by yelling out Hope u get a DUI on the way home.

Yeah I pretty much concur with what the other Yelpers have said here. This used to be a hoppin' place in South Lakeland many years ago, but absolutely horrible service, improperly cooked food, an ever-changing menu that is confusing, flavors that do not match the dish, high prices, and improper management have left one to wonder what has become of Applebees. I've never, ever been impressed with the food choices at Applebee's. There was one dish that I was fond of years ago, and that was the Pecan Crusted Shrimp Caesar Salad, but that went the way of the dodo bird years ago with a customary yearly menu change. I'm sorry to say that it has always tasted like warmed or microwaved food. The service - is non existent. There seems to be a high turnover of help in this place. Do not expect to get a drink refill without asking for it, or more likely yet, having to grab another waiter/waitress as they walk by to ask them to refill your drink. If you go, bring your low expectations with you. The one positive I will give them is that their bartenders have always given good pours on their mixed drinks. I've never seen a chain restaurant try so hard to re-brand itself and its image every few years as Applebees has. With the prime real estate that this restaurant sits on, it should be killing it, but every time I've gone in there at what should have been a busy time, the place is maybe half full - maybe. If you go at night time, the parking lot which is shared with Carrabba's will be full, but you can take it to the bank that the lion's share of those cars are for people waiting in line to get into Carrabba's. I notice that this store location just got a new road sign out front, so I'm sure if I went in, the menu will be completely re-vamped again. I dunno Yelpers. Just another chain restaurant. Not a one star, but not a three star either.

Although this is a chain restaurant. The service is lousy and the taste is not that good. Even the bunks are uncomfortable. Think twice before returning.

The hubs and I decided to go to Applebee's last night. The weather has been fantastic and there are so few establishments with patios in Lakeland. First off the hostess tells us our waiter is Wayne. Then Todd shows up. Apparently, the two tables Wayne had were too much for him (one four top and one two top). Never mind one table was finished with their meal. So we got a server who had tables inside. This wasnt an issue until Hubs ordered a second round w/the server who brought out the apps. The apps were decent. But no beer showed up. Nada, nothing, zilch. Cue the crickets. After 15 min a busser came out to clear the two top. I mentioned Hubs not getting his beer. He went in & told Todd of the problem. Todd flew across the room towards the bar and then the manager shows up with the beer. They were 2 for 1 so I figured he would say that round was on him for having to wait 20 min. Nope again! He apologized for the delay and left. We discussed ordering a meal. I ordered another round with Todd. Like I said, it was a beautiful evening. What I wanted was to sit out side enjoying the evening with the hubs. What I got was being ignored by every other server except ours. Todd was great just in "the weeds", as they say. What I got was music that was annoying. If I wanted to listen to urban dance music I would go to a club. Really, Applebee's? You had the chance to have a very nice tab for two happy people. What you got was a fair tab, a fantastic tip from two people who will be hard pressed to darken your doorstep ever again. Such a shame.

Personally, I have never had a bad experience at this Applebees. I went there yesterday and ordered the Napa chicken with broccoli (instead of the potatoes it normally comes with.) It was perfect! However, my boyfriend was not as lucky. He also ordered a chicken meal but with the macaroni and cheese. We were both shocked when the macaroni came to the table and it was just regular Kraft right out of the box. I know this is not a gourmet restaurant but this was a little ridiculous and disappointing. The rest of the meal was good.

I haven't seen any Applebee's with two servers which they said to us and asked us to wait over 30 mins if we want to have food there.... Which obviously we would not BAD STAFF and totally irresponsible manager for good customer service

Service was not bad. Food on the other hand was terrible. We had a party of 10 last week. The Chicken Penne pasta was pretty good. However, the rest of our party staed the food was very dry I do not recommend this location.

Terrible service ordered a quesadilla well done it came out pink in the middle. Took them forever to get my daughter refill. The waitress didn't really care it seemed like. So I asked for the manager and it took her at least 20min to come over to the table. I will not be going back anytime soon!

Recently went in to order my favorite salad the Chicken Pecan, unwrapped the utensils in the napkin and they were dirty - not good. The waitress brought over a couple of iced teas with lemon, and there was some kind of food stuck to the lemon rinds - gone from bad to worse! The pecan chicken was nothing like it was before! The pecan chicken pieces looked as though they were deep fried and were well done. My friend ordered the quesadilla burger and remarked it was not the same either. She asked the manager if the recipe had been changed and was told no, and the manager walked away. Sorry, Applebee's I won't be back! My 44 year old niece and a friend went to Applebee's for a beer, because she did not have her driver's license to show proof that she was 21 or older, she was not served. Needless to say, they left! We're telling our friends about this place and their friends are telling their friends ...

Take your money elsewhere! I went there for a couple of drinks and appetizers. The bartender lady, was texting constantly and with a tired attitude. She had the nerve to take a can of Raid insect killer and spray it all over the area and it fell over the opened bottles of wine that were there. Now you know why there's tons of drink specials! We were appalled and shocked to see that her co-workers kept going going about their business, as she was doing theis. She then tried hiding the can and didn't even wash her hands. I would give it zero stars, but one is the least. Food was bland and service terrible. As you can see the overall opinion of the others is similar. We made sure we informed the manager, who apologized, however the health concerns this raised are not easily forgotten. Yuck!

This popular chain restaurant has a "tired" appearance with its fading sign. It has a nice patio with comfy chairs as an alternative to the din inside. This restaurant is smaller and more intimate that many of the Applebees and located on the main drag of South Lakeland, nestled in with a buncha other food establishments that often steal me away from here. Servers are friendly and efficient, food fare is "average" but of good variety. I believe Tyler Florence of Food Network fame helped to give the menu a facelift. Parking can be a pain. Music is waaaay too loud. They're trying to drive young people in but driving the old people out. (How nice would it be to have a music-free night???) Some of the waitresses dress 'questionably'. 9/3 update. Great current deal two entrees and a shared appetizer for $20. (This is basically getting the appetizer free.) I had the curly chips and queso. Chips were way too grease-covered, thankfully not salted. The warm queso was nice & bitey with jalapenos but the bowl was not full enough to last half the chips. The entrees-chicken marinara fettucini and 7 oz steak were great. (No seafood in this deal.) Lime chicken looked good, too. Place is climbing towards 4 stars, only a few bugs to work out.
