This place is a really nice change of pace. The "PATACON" is a whole or two plantains, smashed, flattened and fried into a boat. In it you have your choice of several options to pack it with- Rice, beans & steak, Colombian "Plato Paisa" fare (fried egg, pork cracklins, red beans, rice and stewed meat), seafood... All sorts of options. Anything from their menu is really good. They're Colombian Coconut like drink is ridiculously good. I mean stupid good. For the food- this place deserves 5 stars. So what is preventing it? The service... Wait staff seem lifeless at times. You must repeat your order a few times because they may find new ways for you to try new food without your knowledge. I've been here 6-7 times, and I order the PATACON in some variety. My wife orders different things and she ends up missing items or wrong orders altogether. Such a same. This place could compete with some of the best places on this side of town if it wasn't for the ok service. The food is soooo good though. Can't fault the chef for the wait staff. So run and try this place out. You'll be happy you did, just be patient with your server.

Chain Colombian restaurant located in Kendall. Not a bad place for a quick and reasonable meal. The empanadas are OK, mostly potato filling and little meat. The shell on this visit was soggy. The perfect empanadas have crispy shell and seasoned filling with plenty of meat, so these fail on that measure. The other signature Colombian dish is the Plato Paisa is good, but portions have been shrinking. Service was good on this visit. Seems like a recent change of management has occurred. The last manager I use to see was obnoxious and walked around like he was mad. Their signature Patacon Pisao was very good, crispy and delicious served with meat in mushroom sauce.

It was really good!i enjoyed my sopa de mariscos .filled with lots of seafood.the air was king as we waited on a Sunday when there was no seating left but the waiter were very friendly and owner was in touch with the people.so far it was worth the wait.

Food is not bad here, flavor wise. The place is tucked in close to the avenue side in the back rather than the street side. Was in Patacon for lunch and had their lunch special churrasco. The meal is plentiful and satisfying for $13. But I'm not really sure if it really 'churrasco'/skirt steak that they are serving. It definitely is not similar to neither inside nor outside skirt. It just seems like and chunky cut strip of a flank or other cut and they call it churrasco. Hmmm. The meat was chewy and it takes a while of masticating before you can down the meat. I mean when you're hungry, you'll eat anything. For now I'm just going to have to provide them with an honest 2 stars. I give it to them in flavor and seasoning of their food. But false advertisement of the cut of meat just dropped their rating drastically. Hopefully they can correct this or maybe I should just try a different entree.

Before going to this restaurant I reviewed here and it was Ok. I went there for a casual diner with friends and the experience was not good at all. The food consisted in a big fried green plabtaint with plastics cups on the top of it. The drinks are served in small cups and the service was not friendly. On the top of that, the bill comes with 18% charged of tips that are not deserve it. A group of 6 people where very disappointed about the place. We will never come back to patacon pisao again

The food is good but the service was terrible both servers had attitudes they were nasty and careless very unorganized and unprofessional.

The food is GREAT!! I always come here with my family and friends. They treat everybody like family and service is always fast. Love this place. Recommend this place if your in the area!!

Only complaint is that the tip comes in the check already at 18%. I personally think the service was slow and I would have rather a paid a smaller tip.

Really good food n service. I have so far tried their patacon con carne asada n the chicken, cheese n mushroom. Both have been really good.

I am a huge fan of Colombian breakfast but haven't really tried their lunch and dinner cuisine. I moved to a new area recently and this restaurant caught my attention. Specifically because "Patacon" makes the name of it and I love Patacons! For those not familiar with the term, they are plantains that are flattened down, fried, with a touch of salt. Upon arrival we were immediately greeted and seated. Our server was very nice. He proceeded to explain the menu and the specials of the day. They make some very interesting natural juices. We ordered a juice...a mix of coconut and lemonade. It was very good but a bit heavy. They bring it in a large glass ( which has an awesome design) but I was not able to drink it all. We decided to order the patacon with chicken and meat covered in a mushroom sauce. The dish is large so great for sharing! I enjoyed the presentation but the actual chicken and meat did not have much flavor. Even with the sauce, we added salt because it was quite bland. The patacon itself was tasty though. I don't see myself ordering this dish again. I plan to order one of the seafood Patacons next time Desert followed, a delicious warn brownie with vanilla ice cream. I give it 10 stars! This was the best part of our meal. The service was ok, although the server was nice, he kind of disappeared for long periods of time. We never received a refill of water. I would like to return and order a different dish. I am sure a patacon without the heavy mushroom sauce will be much better!

Oh my goodness this place is great, I love Colombian food and was definitely not disappointed. They are reasonably priced, and their coconut drink (I forget the name) is delicious. If you love fried plantains as much as o do then you should definitely check this place out.

3 stars for food!! Came by with family friends for a late lunch since I've heard so many great things! The food was great but the service needs some work! Pros: - maracuya with water-- delish!! - yuca frita-- a must! - patacon with shrimp and melted cheese was great (although they charge extra for the pink sauce aka mayo-ketchup!) Cons: - no one was at the door to greet you even thought it says "wait to be seated." When I took the liberty of grabbing a few menus to sit, the waiter/owner (since he was in regular clothes) had an attitude that I took the menus - 2 plates came out 10 minutes after the first 2 plates were brought. Umm, I think we'd all like to eat together I'd still like to come back and try it again. Although it wasn't even busy when I was there, everyone has their moments. 'Til next time!

This was my second time eating at this restaurant. The first time I did not rate it because I was not yelping . I waited a while to write the review because I was scarred by the person who wrote a review and said that he found 5 hairs in the food. Finally, I am writing the review and came to realize that the Samario fish fillet with coconut rice, tostones and salad was one of the most delicious fish fillets I have ever had. I literally cleaned my plate. My only complaint was that they only gave me 2 napkins and none of the servers made eye contact with me so I could ask for more. I did not want to shout! The restaurant was not full so there is no reason why she could not have seen me moving my head every time she passed by. Eventually, another server brought me some napkins. I always like checking the facility bathroom to check for cleanliness and to wash my hands (Lots of food on them). The restrooms were ok; they passed my inspection. Service could improve. Food was delicious and bathroom was clean. Plus, the fish was on special I'll probably come back once I forget about the 5 hairs on that person's food. Also, the patron should not play Colombian news on the TV since they are depressing... put a music channel with videos.

The food is amazing! As others have stated, when dining-in the service is very slow. As a result I have opted to only order take-out. The Friday special fish is one of the best fishes I have ever had. Pass on the coconut rice and opt for extra tostones. The Patacon with chicken and mozzarella is a favorite of the kids and we ALL love the pork chicharones as an appetizer. Even my wife who is a healty eater likes them.

I like the food here. I love fried plantains and a patacón is a big flat fried plantain that you can choose how you want to eat with or choose a combination already made from the menu. I like my patacón with shredded beef and pink sauce. They also have bandeja paisa which you can also choose what you want with it. I have also try different juices that you can order it frozen or as a shake. The restaurant is small but nice decorated and beware that the air conditioning its really cold here. Service can be spotty but I don't blame the servers (they are nice and try to do as much as they can) I blame the administration that only schedule 2 for the whole place. Meaning that they have to seat the people as they come in, serve the drinks, food and clean.

I loved the fried plantains with chicken, cheese and mushrooms. I had pineapple with herbs which was delicious. It's a nice cozy restaurant in Kendall. The service was ok. I saw the waitress only once.

I loved this place! I came here on a Friday and had the special of the day which was filete samario. I'm from Barranquilla, and I love arroz con coco (coconut rice). Although it wasn't the best one I've had, it was delicious nonetheless. Their pineapple peppermint juice was awesome too! Definitely a most try.

A friend recommended this great Colombian restaurant and it certainly didn't disappoint. The service was quick and attentive; all of the servers were more than willing to help out with our requests. The patacon pisa'o with any combination of chooses is their signature dish. However, I did notice other patrons ordering different dishes on the menu that looked very appetizing. Highly recommend it!!

Went in for lunch on a Sunday afternoon, should have thought about it :/ had to wait around forever to be seated even though there were empty tables but dirty, nobody seemed to go around to clean them. Service took forever!! although servers were nice they seemed to have a lot on their plates which made them seemed like they would never come by our table to take the order. Food was not bad, only problem was the wait and the fact that my kids' order was taken to another table and after the other table had played with the food, the server still had the nerve to bring us the same plate of food, now that's nasty!! ... would think about it twice before going again

I kept seeing this restaurant in local ads, groupon, etc etc and finally got a chance to stop by with my fambam. I had NO idea what to order, I'm so lost when it comes to Colombian cuisine. I know nothing about it except for the local Colombian hotdog/burger stands on the side of the road in kendall. With that being said.. & for those who were just as lost as I was, order a "batido" (shake), of many flavors and fruits. Comes in a huge cup that reminds me of fuddruckers or something. And also order some empanadas as an app! Very good Colombian empanadas here. Price is good for the amount of food you get. Of the 4 of us, my father was the only to clean his plate. I ordered the Carne Asada and it came just pink as I like it. Moist and tender. Little salad, rice and beans and the choice of plantains or maduros. Other dishes came with chicarrones also. Yummy if you like 'em, blah if you're me and don't eat piggies. The main reason why I didn't rate them higher even though the food was really good was because the service was ridiculously slow even though it was a Sunday night, we were 1 of 3 families that was there, and didn't bother to speak English to me even though they knew very well I couldn't speak it and our waitress spoke perfect. english. gr! Overall, food is worth going for. Hopefully, next dine in, I will get a better server to make the experience complete.

  • Chris L.

The food is amazing. Start with the empanadas, put some lime on 'em and use the hot salsa on the table. Get a batido de maricuya, it's sublime. I am a big mushroom guy and always eat the carne con champignones (steak with mushrooms). It's pretty much carne asada covered in mushroom sauce. The price is good for the ridiculously sized portions. Service is a hit or a miss.

When to eat here well we should have thought about it twice then when they decided to seat us I could see inside of the kitchen I saw what a mess it Was then I saw roaches. The bathrooms were horrible after that I had to get up and leave. Please if you decide to eat there please think twice.

Great food! Huge entrees. I had the chicken and mushrooms which came with rice, patacon, salad and a sliver of avocado. I want to go back and try the soup aka sancocho!

My first time eating Colombian cuisine today and I enjoyed every bit of my food. I first got my papaya shake that I ordered and it was creamy and delicious. My food arrived at the table and my mouth just started to water. To food looked incredible and the taste was divine. My heart and stomach are both completely content with this place and I'd definitely recommend it.The service is great and the prices are pretty reasonable. I'm so glad I found this place I'll definitely be a returning customer.

As a Colombian, it's nice to see Colombian restaurant with some variety in the menu. I had the patacon with shrimp which was delicious and my friend had the fish special which was also very good. Friendly service and timely as well. Will likely head back for lunch during the week soon.

This is a great Colombian spot located in London Square. Their empanadas are always delicious... Pair it with their aji and it's perfection. The coconut lemonade is interesting, refreshing and tasty. Service is great and the food is yummy. We've tried the bandeja paisa with medium well steak and the llanero with chicken.

If you are looking to eat good Colombia good at a great price , then this is the place , First time here , looking for some good bandeja paisa. The staff was very nice and welcoming, the restaurant is homie, and small, To start I had the empanada de carne, which is just what I had expected . Crunchy and delicious, The bandeja paisa was just what I was looking for at a great price , I had the "bandeja paisa especial" which comes with carne asada, the meat was cooked exactly how I asked for it, everything was delicious, My new go to spot

Visiting from Wisconsin, had some friends take me here. The food was authentic Columbian and absolutely delicious! They also had live Columbian folkloric music while we ate our meal. Great place!!

Amazing food!!! The Sancocho de Costilla tasted like it was homemade. Great food and service. Absolutely recommend.

  • Sasha L.

The food was absolutely delicious. I had the Filete Samario. The arroz con coco was to die for as well as the Flan de Coco. However, the service was mediocre. It seems they don't have a good system in place. One guy took my order, another waiter had to bring my water because the first didn't. Then another girl brought my dessert and my check. This place was great promise if they just manage to get organized better. Overall, I give it five stars on the food but two stars on service.

  • Betsy D.

The food is great but the service leaves something to be desired. We usually order the patacon- our favorite being the patacon con pollo gratinado. Last time we were there no one greeted us at the door or sat us down. We stood at the door awkwardly trying to get someone to help us for about fifteen minutes before someone finally sat us down and then we had to wait forever for service so we just left. It wasn't even a busy day. Maybe three or four parties.

  • Cin M.

We live very nearby and absolutely love the food, it's always been very fresh, tasty and for an excellent price. Lately we have noticed that the service is going from good to bad and from bad to worse. Hopefully things will improve so we can continue to enjoy this great family restaurant!

I have to run errand in this area..decided to "yelp it" for a good lunch..saw the good reviews. Checked the website - it's all in Spanish. Does that mean you only expect Spanish speaking patrons? I'm sure your business is thriving with Spanish speaking consumers but it definitely shows a lack of consideration to potential non-Spanish speaking patrons.

Patacon Pisao terrible name for a restaurant even though it's not that good terrible food but friendly staff

    (2)
  • Jenny Q. V.

Steak was really juicy. The patacones where a bit on the soft side. In my opinion it should of been a little crispier. They serve a good amount of food. Service could of been better. Waitress wasn't very helpful and took forever to charge my cc.

    (3)
  • Ru D.

Excellent Colombian fare. Only complaint is they use a menu which has items that are not available at the Kendall location but at the Doral site. Those looked tasty as well. Had the bandeja paisa especial. Lots of great food. Wife loved her oxtail soup. Also had the fruit juices. The fig, cheese and dulce de leche dessert is great

    (5)
  • Camilo V.

My wife and I loved this place. Im colombian and loved the bandeja paisa here. Great service and friendly staff. Also liked the fact that we arrived 20 mins before they closed, and a lot of restaurants try to get you to leave or give you left over food. They gave us great food and treated us well. Definitely will come back and recommend

    (5)
  • Alejandra A.

Super glad that Kendall now has this restaurant because driving to Doral is just too far for me! Service was fast, attentive, and even the owner stopped by to make sure all was good. The food was superb, I had the patacon with different toppings, including guacamole, beans and chicharron. The patacon was nice and crispy just how I like it. Make sure you try the fruit juices, they have mora, mango, guanabana among others. The decor was nice and simple with traditional Colombian culture touches. Everything looked clean and well kept which is very important for me personally especially when I try a place for the first time. Please give this place a try and keep the local businesses alive!

    (5)
  • John L.

Kendall Location is nice and clean, Patacon was delicious and crispy and the one we ordered( Patacon gratinado con pollo y champinones) was great. They also have fresh made real fruit juices and colombian sodas. The patacones are a little bit overpriced. Hope to come back soon to try something else from the menu.

    (4)
  • Sandra M.

Admittedly I'm a die hard fan of another Colombian restaurant that is located in Doral. However this place is a close second best. The Bandeja Paisa does not disappoint. They also have pretty reasonable prices.

Went their two years ago, food is great but the service was horrible. Havent been back, hopefully they got rid of that incompetent waitress.

The food here is good. I love the pineapple mint drink. Chicken with mushroom sauce was great! Try this place for sure.

    (3)
  • Joanna C.

My husband and I like this place. We get the chicken patacon, which we learned to share because those plates are enormous! Today I also ordered an empanada for an appetizer and it was so yummy! Try it with the lime and the house salsa (kinda spicy at first). I also ordered their new pineapple juice with peppermint and it was heavenly! Very refreshing juice and not sweet nor artificial tasting. The only reason I didn't give this place 5 stars was because the waiter, although he was polite, didn't look like he wanted to be working, didn't really smile. But the staff does provide good customer service. I say you give this place a try!

    (4)
  • Judith C.

Very poor costumer service, the restaurant looks dirty, when i ordered the approximate time I waited was 45 minutes and on top of that, the order came incomplete, and also the bathroom doesn't have paper towel. What a shame that this is a Colombian restaurant!!!

    (1)
  • Minoska M.

Food was good but service was HORRIBLE. The waiters and waitresses are A-holes and rude. Food was good but the service was so slow and rude we couldn't enjoy our meal. I have a Groupon for this place and I am letting it expire. I do not need my meal ruined by rude service. You will have to wait an hour to be served and god forbid you ask if you need to wait much longer! They will look at you like "how dare you!"

    (2)
  • Eileen P.

Great food. The service was good it could've been better but not too bad the empanadas were really good only thing I thought the bandeja paisa was a little small them other regular Colombian places

    (4)
  • Ivonne G.

This place is a totally joke.. Wanted to grab some empanadas, bunuelos, and some other goodies and they said they don't make any.. Not understanding that when you are a Colombian restaurant and have a bakery area in your establishment. There was one empanada left which was absolutely dripping if grease.. Gross!

  • Yini R.

Oh my!!! Love at first bite. The patacon with chicken and pineapple sauce..... OMG!!!!!!! Yummy! Was in the mood for something yummy but didn't know what so wandered in here and what a way to please. Unlike my last encounter with South American food, this was heavenly. Definitely recommend. And my husband has asked me to add that the hot sauce is great, it's not vinegary and brings out all the favors of the food very nicely

    (5)
  • Soraya R.

Food was AMAZING....glad we tried this new place...service was a bit slow!!!!

    (4)
  • Rashid I.

Update: it seems as if my initial bad experiences may have been attributed to them just opening (at least I am chalking it up to that). This place has improved its service and does have a lot of the good attributes that the original in Doral has. We've been back 3 more times and it is definitely a solid "go to" place for Colombian food. Absolutely love the pineapple/mint juice.

    (3)
  • Jose F.

The food was pretty good. But the service was subpar due to lack of attention. After the food was served I was never checked on again and had to asking for everything, which was no big deal till I saw on my bill the 18% gratuity that was included. I will come back but just for take-out.

    (3)
  • Aida A.

I had a good experience at this restaurant. Place was clean, staff was friendly, prices are reasonable and the food was good. Definitely will return!!

  • Rafael C.

Pineapple/mint (yerbabuena) juice is great and refreshing. Colombian food is always great; just be wary when ordering for take-out!! Had a bad order, however Maria (the owner) was extremely courteous, refunded me the bad order and gave us a gift card to come back!! great, great customer service!
