Little pink drive-thru joint on US1, South of 295. Been wanting to try em out, and the food was pretty good. Killer mac & cheese. The service was friendly. The low rating comes from being shorted food. Ordered 1lb turkey, 1lb pork and side of mac. Got home to 1/2 lb turkey & 3/4lb pork. Gave them a call and left them a polite message and a number to call. I give them a week and I get no call back.. so, I'm not so happy with them. Not a good first impression. So, before I post the above review, I thought I would just go by and ask why no call back. He was very apologetic and proceeded to fix me up. We will chalk this up as an honest mistake. The pork, turkey and mac & cheese is good and I will go back when I'm in the area.

I love this place! They r friendly, have great BBQ and it's pink!!! What's not to love. I've tried all their meats and haven't been disappointed w any. Ribs are super meaty. The turkey pulls in the smoke flavor exceptionally. Chicken is moist. And the pork has great smoke and isn't dry like pork can get. The only reason I can't give 5 stars is bc I'm a die hard brisket lover and they don't have it. :( epic sadness. Their sides r great and they change em up. The only one I didn't care for was the baked beans as they tasted like I was drinking maple syrup like super troopers. No Ty. Mac n cheese is bomb. The specialty sides they put on r yum. The baked potato is the size of your head. They have a text club too for great deals. Oh the banana pudding is freaking bomb. The spicy BBQ sauce is on point. Huge portions and great deals. And the thing that makes good BBQ great is when u don't drench it in sauce but u get to enjoy the different flavors that pull through from the wood and the meat itself and this place does it right.

Well being kind of particular about my BBQ. I have to say the Melvin and his crew of smokers sure do it right. I had the ribs and pulled pork one time and then the salad the next time. All the meat was really tender, juicy, and full of pure smoky goodness. The ribs still had a little pull to them. Just the way I like and cook them. The mixture of blackjack oak and pecan is sweet tingle to your lips. The sauces are ok and the beans are and sauce are way to sweet for me. But that's me I guess. I'm glad that their is really someone in town that can do really good Q. I thinking Melvin and crew are those guys. My smoking career might just be in trouble. Nope

Awesome ribs and the sauces are unreal. Stopped on whim heading home and will definitely come back. It's drive thru only. Order on one side pick up on the other. Fair prices and good portions. Biggest baked potato I've ever seen. Good beans. Will go back and try other items. Sunday Soul Food special must be popular because they were sold out! If I'd had more time I'd have had the wings.

Stopped by the Smokin Pig BBQ on the way home from work cause Ive been having this craving for some BBQ for the past couple of days.... I could have went somewhere else but decided to try somewhere new... Its a little drive thru place on main street. I got the rib sandwich, 1/4 chicken plate with 2 sides and the salad with turkey.. Started with 1/2 the salad, it was very tasty, and the turkey meat was smoked good. The ribs on the sandwich (3pcs) was smoked good but the fat wasn't trimmed from the slab and I don't like a lot of fat on my ribs..But they did taste good... I have an issue with chicken that's not cleaned well, because it leaves fatty deposits under the skin, and that's what I found when eating this chicken.. That feeling in my mouth doesn't feel good to me... Also the 1/4 chicken was a leg quarter, not my favorite part of the bird... I will admit the meat was smoked very well, and it has a good taste... I got the mustard sauce and the sweet sauce.... The mustard sauce was good and it had a nice "kick" to it... The sweet sauce was just ok ( nothing to rave about).. Also when I place my order the young lady at the window asked, "Would you like to try a complementary banana pudding?", im like... if its complementary, Yes.. Well.......... the banana pudding turned into a complementary Cole Slaw by the time I got home....(They gave me the wrong item). it too was just run of the mill Cole Slaw... If I decide to return to Smokin Pig BBQ, it will be for the salad with turkey.......

I have had the Pulled Pork & Turkey plate twice. Both times very yummy. I'm on the fence about their sauces but when the meat is that good you really don't have to cover it up with a lot of sauce. That may be what is the difference between them & other places. At other places you are just covering up the meat with sauce.

I had the pulled pork with beans and mac n' cheese. It was awesome. Didn't like the garlic toast. I would have liked corn bread with it better.

I've definitely experienced better. The beans were far too sweet, and the ribs were dry, and not in a good dry-rub kind of way. The sauces were too sweet as well.

I've been passing this place for several months and the smoke smell is always intoxicating. Finally decided to swing in and take some BBQ home since its drive thru only . My husband and I both ordered the pulled pork and it was delicious. It had a very nice smoke flavor, tender/moist, and not at all fatty. I also love that they put the sauce on the side because quite honestly the meat didn't need it. I did try the mustard sauce which I thought was great and my husband enjoyed the sweet sauce. As far as sides we both had the mac n cheese which was homemade and definitely remnant of what your southern granny would make. Hubby had the baked beans which he thought were really good. I got to try them and they were spot on considering I'm not a big baked bean fan. Sweet but not overly so and nice flavor. I had the collards which were well seasoned. I like a little bite to my collards and these were a little soft but still thought they were yummy. The garlic toast is simple white bread with some garlic butter and toasted but I didn't mind. Let's be honest we aren't going to a BBQ joint for the bread :) I'm so glad we stopped in at the Smokin Pig and I look forward to trying the turkey and ribs in the future. If you haven't tried this place..do yourself a favor and stop.

I'm not sure what these reviewers want. This is excellent bbq. I enjoyed every bite. As a business owner, I am glad I'm not in the restaurant business. Even the guy who loved it only gave it four stars (mark b). WONDERFUL bbq. It will be a main staple for my husband and I.

Best BBQ in Jacksonville! Old school Florida barbecue in a concrete bldg with a drive thru. Big hearts and warm smiles. Flat rib with rice is amazing, reminded me of bbq in south Florida - I would not eat bbq in VA, NC, SC, or GA because I was waiting for my Florida BBQ experience, Florida and California; best BBQ in the country!

First of all, how cute is the pink building?! Love it! This great little BBQ joint is drive-thru only, but they do have an area to the side with tables and chairs set up. If you're driving along Main Street in Oceanway, it's really hard to miss this building. We've been here several times now and each time I have ordered the same thing... the pulled pork sandwich. The pulled pork is between two large pieces of texas toast and they certainly do not skimp on the amount of pulled pork they put between those slices of bread. One sandwich is enough for two meals for me. At $5.75, that's not a bad deal. The meat is very tender and has a wonderful smokey flavour. They give the sauce to you on the side, so you can add as much or as little as you like. They have three different flavours of sauce to choose from: sweet, hot, and mustard. Sweet is always my flavour of choice and it's pretty good. I generally like my sauce a tad bit sweeter, but it has a nice tang to it, so no real complaints from me there. On Fridays, they offer a side of banana pudding for free with every order. I asked if this was every Friday and was told yes; however, there are occasional Fridays when this isn't offered in the case where they may be out of bananas or wafers to make the pudding, but she did say it's very rare when they don't have the free banana pudding on Fridays. Customer service here is excellent. The employees are really friendly and helpful. They are just all smiles and go above and beyond to make sure you are happy and satisfied. Also, make sure to sign up for their texts. They send several text messages out per week with really excellent deals on single meals as well as family meals.

Just ok BBQ. I had hoped this place would really be a hit for my family, since we drive by nearly twice daily. BUT...for the price, I'll go on down into Highlands for my neighborhood BBQ to Big Oaks, and get a full meal, drink & sides & sandwich piled high for same price as just a sandwich at Smokin' Pig.

We found this take out restaurant to be a very good representation of northern Florida BBQ as we ordered a mix of meats and sides for dinner last night. Served quickly from the funny style of drive through around a pink building on Route 17, we were happy to find both friendly service and high quality ingredients. We also noted this BBQ place was burning wood, instead of coal or gas, to reach the heated flavor of the food. As I found dinner to be remarkable, I returned the next day for the "Sunday Soul Food" special and a pound of pork. In repeat performance, Smokin Pig came through again with a great plate for me. Updating my original estimate of 4 stars to 5, this little place up the road from the Bud Brewery in JAX has me thinking of all kinds of creative ideas for catering with their food in a starring role. I think the first thing to do is to have a picnic on site at the picnic tables they have there with a bunch of friends and some coolers of Intuition, Aardwolf, and Green Room beers (in honor of the Bud brewery down the street). Thanks to Mark B. for his review that got us here. .

It looks promising and smells great. This is a drive-through shop, with to-go only. There are a few outside tables and chairs if you can't wait to get home. The smoke flavor was a little too strong and there was a layer of black soot on the outside of the meat. The sauce you get is a little on the thin side, and a little too vinegary. I'm from the North, so we have a slightly different preference in BBQ, but this was just kind of lacking all around in depth of flavor. The chicken was also too smokey and the skin wasn't crisp enough to leave the skin on. The staff is really friendly and this is probably good enough for a local dinner, but not worth going out of your way for.

The Smokin' Pig is fantastic down home BBQ. I met Kevin the owner and he took the time to answer all my silly questions about his great food. I had the triple meat combo with double ribs and pulled pork. The ribs were perfectly smoked and fall off the bone tender. The pork was moist and smokey. The spicy BBQ sauce had a good amount of cayenne to compliment the food. They go light on the rub and let the smokey meat speak for itself! All the sides were great to-- I had the baked beans and mac'n cheese. Make your way down for this drive thru gem of BBQ mastery!

The pulled pork was good but it was chopped up to thinly. The baked beans had syrup in them (which I'm not a fan of). The Mac and cheese was very good. But the order only comes with one piece of bread.

This is a drive thru BBQ joint. It's built in an old Skinners Dairy building. You drive up on one side to place your order and drive to the other side to pick up. The BBQ is really good. The ribs have the Smokey flavor and fall off the bone. I got a side of collards and fries. The collards were seasoned well but on the salty side. We also got a loaded baked potato with pork and Turkey. Very good and filling. The pork and turkey sandwiches were also very tasty. They have lunch specials for $7.50 which includes a drink, but if you get the rib plate you'll spend $10. I would come back again.

This little place has some really good Pulled Pork.. The sandwich is priced well--5.75 and there is a lot of meat on it... They give you sauce on the side, so you can use as much or as little as you like... Honestly it doesn't need sauce.. There are a couple of tables in the parking lot if you want to eat there, but it is drive-thru only( there is no inside seating).
