I ordered the Eggplant Parm and Zeppolis. Pros: Delivery minimum 10 bucks, delivery fee 1 buck. Eggplant was delish. Cons: Their tomato sauce is very bland. Not a fan of their pasta. Garlic bread burnt. No option for salad dressing. The dipping sauce provided with the box of zeppolis was probably less than a tablespoon, slightly more than covering the bottom of the cup. Overall, it's not likely I will order from here again.

I wanted to hate this place because it completely stole the idea of another local eatery. But my coworkers love it and it's growing on me. Don't dine in. I'm not even sure why they offer that option. There is no seating! But the food is decent and the portions are huge. During a mandatory working lunch, we decided to order in from here. I thought the calzone would be something small that I could wrap in a napkin to help me multitask. I was wrong. That sucker was a two handed job that required a knife and fork. Tomato dipping sauce was very plain. It just tasted like canned sauce. If I was at home I'd have a spice rack to fancy it up but no luck at the office. the crust was great and thick but not much spinach and inside was filled with the lack luster cheese and sauce. I ate less then half and took leftovers home to spice it up. Delivery guys are supper fast and pretty friendly. And whoever takes the phone orders is a doll. Not my go to place but not a complete waste of a cheap and quick lunch.

I order for the first time today and it took them two hours to deliver my pizza. When I call and talk the manager he had attitude. He didn't offer me anything for the wait. Not only that my pizza was cold after I was told it was going to be hot. I will never order from them again

Daught and I want to get some pizza and wanted to try this place because it's not to far from home. So we stopped by to get two slices Togo so we could have it at the park. Well it looked so good we couldn't wait to eat. Got to the park and started to enjoy the pizza and found extra topping I didn't order!!!! I would say next time please hold the bugs but I know there isn't going to be a next time. Very sad that we had to throw it away and not have lunch.

Worst food in the state, don't eat here. Salad was rotten and the wings were undercooked. You're better off scavenging in the forest for grubs than paying for food from this craphole.

I ordered some food from Selvino's pizza last night, and I was amazed by the flavor. The juicy toppings and the fresh homemade dough they gave me, not just on my pizza but my sub also... I loved the steak onions and cheeze sub, and don't even get me wrong on the perfect sub roll they gave me. Selvino's customer forever

My husband and I have recently moved to Jacksonville and are staying in a hotel temporarily while we are waiting to close on our new house. While in the hotel we received a menu for Selvino's under our door. We decided to give it a try one night since we were both craving italian food. I got the lasagna baked dinner and my husband got the baked ziti dinner. They had a special for two dinners only $15.99 which seemed very reasonable since it included garlic bread and a salad with the pasta. We placed our order and headed over to pick it up. When we got there the business wasn't even located on the sign out front but we found it in the shopping center. We walked up to the business and was very turned off by the shady appearance. There are three tiny tables inside and the main part of the restaurant is the kitchen. I am not sure why they advertise dine in because it is very uncomfortable to sit in there. We ordered our food to go and got out of there as quickly as possible. We got back to the hotel and opened the food. I have to say the salad was the best part of the meal. The garlic bread was a sub roll split in half and toasted with butter and garlic. Very weird. It wasn't awful but it certainly wasn't good. The sauce and cheese were good in both the lasagna and the baked ziti but the mystery meat in them was very strange. I would recommend to anyone else interested in trying them out to avoid the baked dinners and give them a try on their pizza. Since the sauce and cheese were good maybe that will be a better choice.

I ordered the Fettuccini Alfredo with Chicken for lunch. The food was great and worth the money. My minor complaint is that the menu didn't allow me to select my salad dressing so I just got an Italian dressing. My major complaint is that after leaving detailed instructions for the delivery of my order, the delivery driver didn't follow them and hung up on me as I was trying to find him. In the process, he tipped my food to the side and the bag was soaked and a complete mess. I normally like my food inside the container, not on the outside. Otherwise, I would order again and probably go pick it up.

The following review was published under my byline in the Florida Times-Union on Thursday, May 1, 2014. This is an original, unabridged version of that review. Tucked away near the midpoint of Bowden Corners Shopping Village at Spring Park and Bowden roads, it's easy to miss SelVino's Pizza. Until you notice the booths outside. With just three tables and two inside-style booths parked on the center's sidewalk, the dine-in experience at this location of the Northeast Florida Italian chain is arguably nonexistent. A quick scan of the storefront's collection of cordless phones and illuminated portable delivery signs suggests a focus on the takeout and delivery markets. On the menu you'll find a fairly standard offering of appetizers, wings, salads, wraps, hot and cold subs, oven-baked and classic pasta dinners, New York-style thin-crust and gourmet pizzas, calzones and strombolis. Despite the less-than-polished dine-in experience, we reviewers don't throw in the towel, or napkin, until the last bite. And for the most part, we found that SelVino's delivers nicely in terms of taste and value with most of the items we sampled. We began with a plate of onion rings ($3.99) from the appetizers section. The moderately breaded, thick-cut rings came across a bit more on the greasy side than we would have liked, and some were stuck together on our plate. When paired with the excellent side of chunky marinara, they rose to finger-licking treat status. We found the Antipasto Salad ($6.99) piled high with flavor and freshness, including plenty of shredded mozzarella, sliced meats and veggies with your choice of dressing. It would be a full meal for all but the most famished diners. SelVino's thin-crust New York-style pizzas range in size from small (10-inch) to extra-large (16-inch) pies, with 13 gourmet configurations including such exotic offerings as Philly Steak, Fajita and Greek. I tried a gourmet small Veggie ($8.99) and was wowed by the freshness of the cheese and crust. You won't find over-the-top toppings overtaking the basic building blocks of the pie. In large part, I suspect that's because the thin crust couldn't bear their weight. The fundamentals are strong and tasty here. My friend chose the Deluxe Specialty Calzone ($8.99) that was light, crisp and buttery on the outside with lots of melty ingredients awaiting inside. It's also paired with their excellent marinara dipping sauce (available a la carte, $.50). SelVino's offers four dessert options ($2.99-3.99). We chose the Zeppolis, or Italian donut holes ($2.99), and the Tiramisu ($3.99), both homemade. Neither is great for sharing, thanks to more personal-sized portions. That's OK, since it's likely you won't want anyone else stealing a taste of yours. The powdered sugar and raspberry sauce give the light zeppolis a fruity zing that won't weigh you down. Our server delivered the tiramisu in a circular plastic container that looked ready for delivery. It would have been nice to have it properly plated for the dine-in experience. Regardless of presentation, it was delightfully dense with a cookie crumble topping concealing the creamy layers beneath. Your beverage choices are limited to the non-alcoholic variety, with Coca-Cola products available by the can ($1) and 2-liter container ($2.39). SelVino's offers nine lunch entrée specials ($6.99 each) daily from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. You'll find other specials on the back of its take-out menu. The Bowden SelVino's is one of six outlets for the locally based chain, from Yulee to St. Johns. If you're a stickler for ambience, call in your order for delivery (free to a limited area) or takeout service. The dining room experience may have its issues, but the kitchen is doing just fine, thank you. New to town and had to try all the delivery options. Ordered a deluxe from them with the promise of 45 minute delivery....took about 75 minutes. Pizza may have been ok if it was hot and fresh. Unfortunately it was terrible pizza and it was cold. If you like good or great pizza keep looking.

this place was literally mediocre. we were at our hotel room chilling and watching a movie in desperate need of some "za" and what this place had to offer us barely sufficed. picture this, you and your bros are on one hell of a vacation, ur chillin at the pad and u get some mad grumblies in your tummy. what are you gunna do? order a pie my dude. so the pizza gets there and then you pop open the box, but what you see scares you bro. its nothing like what you ordered, its not a xlarge", there isn't quadruple peps or triple sausage with extra sauce, no way bro. its like pop-eye the pizza with mad spinach bro. so i called in a few times and finally after a few days they fixed it. this place is so whatevez 2/5 bro

Decided to try this place out. Definitely worth the money $5 for 2 slices cheese + drink, but it does come with 1 topping but I just got cheese. My gold standard for Pizza by the slice in Jacksonville is Rennas Pizza, so sel vino's is like Rennas BUT without the TASTE. They were nice and waitress was friendly, but even Papa Johns tastes better, THUS the 3 stars because you can buy their pizza by the sluce. Yes, I will go back again because even mozzarella sprinkled on top makes their slices taste better

We order from here when we want delivered cheap Italian food. Their pizza is good, pasta and sandwiches are just okay. The biggest plus is that there are always good coupons in money saver magazine and delivery is super fast.

The delivery service was good. The wings and garlic bread I ordered were not. The wings were black from being frozen. The garlic bread was not good either. It had very little butter or oil on it.

stay away from the place!! their food was awful. they trick people from out of town and put menus underneath guest doors. i was told by desk clerk that the locals would never eat here. that's how they get there business by going to hotels and putting menus underneath guest doors. this place is just waiting for coj to shut them down. gross!

We received one of their flyer's in our hotel room and I called to ask some questions about their "Deluxe Pizza" (since there wasn't a description of what it included). I called and asked...a male answered the phone and rudely said he would not answer my question until I called back from an unblocked number. Wtf? He couldn't answer a simple question? I laughed and basically told the idiot that he just lost business and we obviously will NEVER EAT THERE!!!!!

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
