Since I've been here in Jax, everyone tells me La Nopalera is the place to go for Mexican, but they've got nothing on Rosy's. I'm almost afraid to give this place a good review for fear that they'll get on everyone's radar and I won't be able to keep this Jacksonville gem to myself. Absolutely fantastic food served quickly. They're not in the most convenient location for us, but we still make the trip -- bypassing several closer Mexican restaurants on the way.

Nice portions and plenty of chips. Standard Mexicali fair...nothing to rave about.

Excellent food. Staff is very friendly. Nice place to go instead of the commercial Mexican food restaurants

Rosy's has been a go-to place for Mexican food since we moved to Jacksonville 6 years ago. The food has been good and, in many cases, better than the other options in town. Their salsa is special and really wonderful! Recently, however, they seem to have a new chef because things just got a whole lot better! We haven't asked what has changed in the kitchen, we're just going there more often. The guacamole went from okay to amazing, the meats are cooked to perfection and the combo dishes are arriving at the table looking a little happier than before. Since we didn't have any complaints to begin with, this is nothing but good news! Check out Rosy's if you're in the Mandarin area. You'll come away stuffed to the gills and smiling!

Hmm, I think Mexican food is one of my staples. I've had alot, including several trips to Mexico. I suppose, being from the West Coast, I'm used to American Mexican and not strictly Mexican. Anyway, I like Rosy's alot, it's very casual, clean and tasty. It's definitely closer to what I'm used to in California than say, El Potro, La Nopelera or Los Toros. Those places are rather weak to me. Prices are a little expensive here at Rosy's. A grilled chicken burrrito (my favorite) runs $9.99. A comparable burrito at a sitdown spot in Cali goes for $6-7. At a takeaway joint it'd be like $4. I had a combo dish the other night with shredded chicken taco, burrito and flauta for $9.99 as well. It's not a bad price on that and I was really full. The Glabella had gorditas (she only ate one), a tostada (very filling) and some rice and beans. But anyway, when I need my Mex fix, I head over to Rosy's. She's the seater and cashier by the way.

This is our favorite Mexican restaurant! If you are used to going to La Nop or other similar restaurants, you will never go back after eating here. The service is fast and friendly, the food is prepared well, and the presentation is attractive. I recommend the Fajita Quesadilla with Steak. It is a HUGE serving of steak, grilled onions, carrots, peppers, and white cheese in a folded over tortilla. It comes with rice and beans of course. Recommended!!

Not the best in town but decent food and pretty quick. Great for a quick & economical lunch. Recommended: chicken enchiladas

Let me tell you that i have been here twice in the past month and both experiences were completely different. First time i went during lunch and the lunch staff was very nice, so helpful with any questions and brought me exactly what i wanted. However my recent trip during dinner time has raised some concerns. Their night staff is soo rude! I tried to ask one of the wait staff a quick question about the menu and she shrugged at me and walked away with an angry look on her face. I just brushed it off. But then my actual waitress didnt even refill out drinks once. Even after we asked her. The gorditas that we ordered were very good. We also ordered some steak tacos and let me tell you for $3 each they were a complete rip off. They were smaller than the regular priced tacos and id rather go to taco bell for a steak taco now. If you go to this place stick to the gorditas or chicken anything but anything else is not worth it and not good. I can say from experience because i know what good mexican food it and its not this. Try Pepe's Hacienda instead, or go here only for lunch.

Rosy's is a great kept secret. Authentic, if you know what to ask for. Please support this local restaurant so we don't lose it.

Fantastic fajita quesadilla stuffed with choice of meat, veggies (onion, peppers, carrots and zuchinni) and cheese. And it's HUGE! Good prices, always clean and staff is very attentive. My wife says they have the best salsa in town. I prefer my salsa more chunky than saucy.

I don't come here much unless I crave Chicken Enchiladas with Mole sauce which I enjoy here. I find it a bid pricey but otherwise it's okay. Rosy the owner is always there to greet and make sure everyone is taken care of.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
