Great experience! We stopped here while in town to watch the NCAA finals. We sat in the outdoor bar area. There were more than enough TVs for everyone at the table to enjoy the game. Our group stayed for several hours and our waiter was very attentive the entire time, always a plus! The chicken zingers were great! My one reservation is that the outdoor area was covered and people were smoking. Our group members were polite and went all the way out side to smoke, I wish others had done the same.

I ordered the Zinger Mountain Melt. MISTAKE. And, if YOU are considering ordering this item, then you would be wise to reconsider! Here's how the menu reads, and what I expected: "ZINGER® MOUNTAIN MELT Medium garlic Zingers® piled over crispy fries and smothered with melted Monterey Jack and cheddar cheese, bacon bits and green onions. Choice of bleu cheese or ranch dressing. $11.59" Now, here's what I actually received: The fries tasted under cooked, were soggy, and half were stuck to the plate. The cheese was practically non-existent. The "medium" garlic Zingers were TINY (about the size of your thumb). There were eight of them. All in all, a VERY disappointing meal. And all for almost $12. What a deal!

The Ale House is what it is. It's a place to have a cold beer and halfway decent pub food. That being said, today my son and I went to have a quick lunch. I ordered a medium-rare burger with extra swiss and mushrooms - that's it. When it arrived, I immediately realized that there was barely any swiss on it - forget the extra cheese I ordered. When the server asked, she too noticed I didn't get what I ordered. Because of time, I told her not to worry about it, and that was it. Let me be clear: I did say not to worry about it, but would you think they would possible waive the soda charge, or knock a little off the bill? Uh....no. Frankly, I guess I can't be too bummed, but I did think it was an opportunity for them to make the situation somewhat better.

I recently stopped in for some food-n-drink. The drink was characteristically a bit pricey but OK. Conversely, the food SUCKED. I'll spare you the details but suffice it to say it was the same tourist dining ripoff you see up-n-down A1A and Beach Blvd. I keep hoping to get some value/quality for my dining dollar here and the other tourist traps, but it appears this will never happen.

Service great. Wings were amazing. Very kid friendly. Lighting at table was a bit bright and uncharming. Server suggested we just turn the bulb. Much better. Great TVs with lots of views.

Ok folks, if you're ready to drop it like it's hot and play P. Diddy (is he still called that?) for the night head out to The Ale House. Say what, what? YUP, we're going to make rain up in this..... $15 dish will serve you up 6 MINISCULE scallops. Never in my life- at least not without a bottle of Dom!! You best recognize, head to the sea and catch your own, you'd have a better chance at finding 6 LARGE scallops than at Ale House. On the upside, manager acknowledged that these babies (literally) were not what was touted on the menu and comped the dish. Whew, I needed to bring it back down to playing Amanda Bines and drinking my Natty Light! I'm going to give an amen for the MOD.

Happy to say this place ROCKS again. Idk happened but everything was perfect tonight. We had a hard day at work and came here because it was close by.... soooo happy everything came out on-time, non-greasy and drinks were made perfectly. Marcus, Courtney and Jason rule! They are always friendly, upbeat and get it right! Happy to see my favorite after work spot back in action. Will be back again! With friends! :)

Took my parents and sister out and had a great time! Had TV's playing every ESPN network known and then some. Great atmosphere and the food was spot on. Had Thad and he was a great waiter. Will go again and definitely recommend it to any one else!

Much better than the Ale House by the Regency Square Mall. Service was fine but they should have refilled our waters. I only gave it 3 stars because I've had a bad experience here and a decent one. The outdoor space is nice.

Always love stoping by this Millers the bartenders know me so I always have great service at the bar and the food is always so amazing no matter what I order! Sticking to fish Friday's I ordered the calamari start and they cook it surprising perfect every time! It comes with a sweet chili sauce and I add the tangy plum sauce that I love! I also got their Sam Adams beer batter fish and chips that comes with a huge portion of crispy coated fish that melts in your mouth! The fish is so flavorful with a squeeze of lemon and their tartar sauce. I love their fries and coleslaw too! Another great visit to millers!

Loved the bartender Courtney, extremely personable and knowledgable on the menu. Not a fan of the manager though

We ordered the fiesta nachos. On the bright side u get lot chips that are baked in oven then tipping added. The chips were wicked dry had no flavor, had to ask for 2 sides salsa to add too put on top just to swallow them. Our server April was really great, and took great care of us. $2 tequila sunrise and draft beers!

I haven't been here in three years because my memory of the place was pretty bad. I gave it another shot this weekend and rememebered why it's been so long since I was there last. First off I paid $6 for a Blue Moon on tap. Blue Moon costs less than that on a cruise ship. $5 bucks for an Intuition Pale Ale. The worst part was both beers were skunky and hardly paletable. Probably an issue with the beer pump. The waitress got our order wrong, did the very minimum as far as service goes and had no personality whatsoever. The food was slow. They asked if we wanted out entree before the fries because the fries were taking too long to cook. When they food did come out, one entree had fries that had been sitting under the warmer for who knows how long and the other entree had par cooked fries that they were obviously in a hurry to plate. Two stars is probably being generous here.

My husband, mom, and I went to eat here without checking Yelp 1st but we're pleasantly surprised to find the food was good, price was great, there was a full bar, and just the right amount of noise to give it an "Irish" ambience. I had a chicken taco salad which, once I was able to get through the many large pieces of lettuce, was ok. I didn't give Miller's a 4 star because the lettuce overwhelmed the essence of a taco salad. The pieces were so large I had to cut them, and the salad had virtually no dressing making it somewhat tasteless. The taco shell was crisp and tasty. Howver, my husband's zesty chicken with rice was quite good. Maybe it wasn't my day, I've been on a diet anyway! I would definitely give it another chance.

It's always a hit or miss here over the years. I've had some great meals here but some really bad experiences too with good quality and service. Also some items tend to be not available quite often. It's one of those places you know there will be something for everyone on the menu. My son loves lobster night and prime rib night! Good deal for sure. Fish and chips can be great but I've found if u ask for extra crispy you will get a better crunch for sure.

Do not come here to watch the NBA Finals they will not play the sound. They would rather play the juxbox and tell me that the money has to run out first. Last year when the Heat was playing they played the sound of the game.

Very dry and hard chicken on the Cobb Salad. Service was a bit slow as well. No drinks were refilled.

    (2)
  • Rocco F.

I give it 4 stars becuase it's a great place to watch a game and have a few cocktails. For the most part the food is your typical bar food so don't complain when the steak is a little tough. The prime rib is actually great. Bartenders are always great and they have good drink prices.

    (4)
  • Andy L.

Ale House is very popular, but I think that has more to do with the cheap drinks than the food. This is the place to go if you want cheap alcohol and want to watch a game. The TV screens are all over the place and they are very accommodating about changing the channel to what you want. Food is pretty bad, though. But, hey.... they have $5 pitchers of beer and usually a lot of other drink specials.... so that's why I gave it two-stars.

  • Jessica L.

Very good prices, great week day specials, diverse menu has something for everyone. Tuesdays kids eat free. Good atmosphere especially if you are a sports fan. Always enjoyable. This particular location has waaaaay better service than some of the other area ale houses.

No wait on a Saturday night, we were seated immediately and the waitress was friendly. I ordered the osso buco, but it was a little too salty for my tastes, and the lemonade was weak (watered down). Otherwise the service was fine.

So let me begin this review with a preface that I really, really want to give this place 5 stars. I really do, but the service is so hit or miss I can't bring myself to do so. There are times when you walk in, sit down, and you can nearly feel the sunbeam on you and cherubs sing because there service is so spot on... and then there's times like my most recent visit, in which I sat at the bar for 10 mins and a bar manager had to sheepishly walk over and ask if I'd been helped. He poured my beverage of choice and took my food order. My food arrived promptly and correct (Zinger salad: Mt St Helens), yet a few minutes later the same bar manager had to ask me if I needed another beverage, which he again poured himself. Every single food item I've eaten here has been great, but I apologize Yelpers, I don't eat seafood so I can't rate that part of the menu. I do recommend Mt St Helens flavor as it is spicy but flavorful, and not too much for most palates to bear. The nachos are indeed, extremly large, ensure you are in a group or trying out for man versus food if you order them and then an entree. The liquor selection is your standard fair for bars, and until the recent change in distributor agreements they had some very good deals. The PBR is no longer 2/$3, but at $2 for a tall boy, you can still get white girl wasted without breaking the budget. The good news for bud light drinkers (state beer of Texas, y'all), you can now get a tall glass for $3.75. They do have a good sample of craft beers as well as beer with a shot specials. If you're a sports fan, this is the place to be. TV's both on the patio, as well as inside, showing all different sports and numerous games simultaneously. NOTE: ask for the TV map. It outlines which games will be on which televisions, and be seated accordingly. The stations won't be changed. For smokers, there is smoking allowed at the outside bar. As my friends will tell you, I'm an easy guy, very easy. My food can be delayed for an hour and a half and I'm happy with some moderately warm chips as long as my glass does not stay empty. Again, I'd love to give you 5 stars, Miller's Jacksonville Ale House, but only if there were more cherubs and less bar managers pouring my drinks.

Great bar, food is good as well. Only issue is the service... Not awful but one of those places where they forget to give you silverware, forget your salad- than bring it out with the wrong dressing, never brought you water after asking multiple times, switch servers on you 3 times and than, of coarse-bring you the wrong bill. Small complaints at the end of the day.. Great atmosphere. Just bring your patients.

Went there for appetizers and beer. So very disappointed. Ordered clams, buffalo shrimp and spinach dip. All 3 were terrible! We were missing almost half of the clams and they were tiny and overcooked. For being miles away from the ocean the Buffalo shrimp were so tiny (the flavor was good ) . Lastly we were able to stick our napkin in our spinach do and we were able to soak it in grease. My husband and I are not picky people but I was very disappointed in the quality of our food. .

It's okay - lacking character, food is meh... I've actually felt sick after eating there. No Bueno.

I am giving this place 5 stars for the drink menu. The food here is not good the rib eye that I had was gray. We sent it back asked for chicken wings instead because we didn't have time to wait. I asked for a dry rub and was told that the jerk wings were the way to go. Came out tasting like all spice and a little hot sauce. Our poor bartender gave us good service but you could tell that she had a look like this happens all the time.

Standard Ale house, nothing really special about it. The outside bar is nice.

.@Millersalehouse The Jacksonville Beach location was better than the Miami one I previously visited. Staff was great, everyone from the Hostesses (who answered several questions and got a TV Channel Change) to the Bartender (who hooked us up with some 4square specials)and finally the Server(who was professional and prompt). Food was tasty. Portions were very large. I had the Baked Fish Sampler and required zero condiments for it. My wife ended up bringiing home some of her Quesadilla, which was ordered off the starter menu. Finally my son's kids' Mahi ,fresh apple side and ice cream sandwich were all devoured by him! Why doesn't it get 5 stars? I don't like giving them to any chains. This is the highest 4 star review it can get!

I was visiting from out of town over Christmas and was looking for a place to watch some football with a friend. This place was open Christmas Eve and Christmas which was perfect. They have a ton of TVs are good about changing stations based on your request. The food here is pretty decent for a sports bar, I had the chips with salsa and bean dip with cheese which was okay and French onion soup which was pretty good. I also had the peanut butter pie for dessert and would recommend that. If you're in the area this is a great place to watch some games.

Called in to place an order to pick up, a lady answered the phone "hi this is millers ale house on hodges.(giggles) this is.....(lol) how can I help you ?(giggles)" I don't think I wanna order anymore.

  • Ryan W.

I wish this place was better. The service was mediocre and the waiter interrupted me and my friends twice while we were talking. I thought they were called "waiters." They forgot our fries and then charged us for them. That was cool. I live down the street from this place but probably won't go back.

If you've visited one Miller's Ale house... This one doesn't seem to have quite the service fluctuations that some of the others have displayed. The parking lot is somewhat small, and the entrance / exit might be a bit dicey to negotiate, depending on how many drinks you've had, and how aggressive other drivers are. Popped in here for dinner with a friend tonight, ordered a mojito along with the prime rib special (it's gone up in price...) and server came back apologizing that they were out of mint (!) and so couldn't make my "classic" mojito... would I care for a different flavor? Ah... no. In my book, a mojito is a mojito, and anything else is something else that you're just CALLING a mojito. (I harbor the same feelings towards martinis...) I declined a different drink, deciding to stick with the jumbo water he had earlier presented. Happily, the bartender found some mint (maybe scraped off the floor - I dunno) and brought me a quite passible mojito about a minute later. My friend picked up the dinner tab, which made it all the more wonderful! Probably about a 2.5 star rating, and a bonus star for saving the mojito.

Miller's Ale House forces me to ask myself questions such as: why would I eat 10 fried shrimp when I could have 35? Because it's the only size here. But really, Miller's Ale House is a great place to gain weight. They have a pretty good draft beer list, and they do daily specials on buckets different bottled beer. This place specializes in bar food. Fried or greasy food to jam into your face when you watch sports. The burgers and fries are burgers and fries. The fajitas are limp and oily. The fried shrimp are tasty, but you may feel weird if you eat all 35. The chicken tenders (zingers) are actually really good, and they will also put them on salads or nachos. If you feel like drinking a bucket of Budweiser and plowing through some nachos during a NASCAR race, this is definitely your place. There are TVs everywhere.

  • Laura B.

Fajita were good. Zingers were nasty. Mango Mojitos were delicious. The service on the other hand was too notch. Devon did a great job. Wasn't too pushy, stayed patient, and had good suggestions.

  • Dave C.

I was given an undercooked steak and mashed potatoes that were sour. The appetizers were OK, but could use some work. Price was moderate and I guess it's more of a bar appetizer place than a actual meal place. It could use work and hopefully they change this dent a little.

  • Kelly M.

Came for the $5 chicken zingers on Tuesday. You get 5 for that amount and they are a decent size. Pretty good. The chicken is moist and lightly breaded.

I emailed customer service a few months ago about the details of my visit (at their request) and I never got a reply back. I don't see the point of a company asking me to send a detailed explanation of my visit if they aren't going to bother to reply. They are essentially asking me to waste my time. It's great to see how much they care about their loyal customers and their experiences...

Most of the content following pertains to the Hodges location in Jax. I don't typically review chains unless they test my patience too many times, but Miller's has a special place in my heart. Plus, this one is the closest to my apartment. Let me say that the primary reason I dine here is for their French Onion Soup. It has the traditional sherry and beef broth, covered by a bowl-diameter "crouton" and smothered with a slice of provolone. The snow crab entree is reasonable, also: $14.99 for one pound of snow crab legs along with cole slaw and your choice of side (I'll say, they don't fuss about side substitutions, but you will pay a dollar or so to do it.) Zingers are yummy, and if you order nachos or loaded fries, expect a mountain. The ribs, in my experience, fall off the bone and have a nice smoky flavor. But the real kicker for me? Dessert. Get Capt'n Jack's Buried Treasure. Go now! I've been to this Miller's the one in Orange Park, and the one right by Full Sail in Orlando, and my only serious complaint is this: service is inconsistent and often spotty. Oh, and often my adult beverages come out extremely watered down, no matter the location. I know I don't look of age, but I don't need the drinking training wheels, people. New management, please?

    (3)
  • Rj N.

We went for lunch. The specials are great and mine was only $5.99. We are used to other Miller's and this one was on par with the rest. Beer was cold and service was ok. We will be back!!

    (4)
  • Ben B.

Miller's a great place just to stop and chill and have fun with your friends. If you've been to one Miller's you been to all. No matter what part of Jacksonville whether it be at the town center in Mandarin or on beach and Hodges I feel as welcome and everything is as good as it is in Gainesville or any other city that you find a Miller's Ale house.

My kids love to eat her, but to me the food is mediocre and the service spotty. At this trip, our service was so slow it was horrendous. What was odd was that when our server came to the table she was uber terrific, however we only saw her every 20 minutes (yes, we waited 20 minutes to put in our order). I will say, on this trip our food was fabulous! We had three types of wings and they were exquisite. Now wings aren't a highbrow dish, but good wings can really hit the spot sometimes. Especially the sweet chili wings....just the right amount of heat. My recommendation is to order as quick as you can, include any extra sauces or condiments you may need, order drinks by the pitcher and you may enjoy yourself more.

    (2)
  • William R.

The Jambalaya is excellent here with a side salad. Great prices ask for the bartender Arkim, this guy has a great attitude and will go out if his way to make sure you have a great experience. Great TV to see WorldCup go Costa Rica and USA.

    (5)
  • Juice C.

The food is OK, however the grouper friend had excess water on the plate (odd). Its a spot you go to for the their outdoor bar for vaping/smoking and atmosphere. The Manny Pac fight over this weekend cost $10 to get in but it was worth it.

    (3)
  • Morgan H.

Just like all the others. Love the outside bar.

  • Karen G.

I picked up my niece who was back from her military deployment and just wanted a beer. Although it was the middle of the afternoon, the service was very slow and I felt we had to wait way too long for any service at all and for refills. Food is ok - nothing to write home about. I probably wouldn't go back unless I just wanted a drink at the casual neighborhood tavern.

    (3)
  • Debbi C.

Very inexpensive food and drinks that are good but not great. A very casual atmosphere with ok service.

    (3)
  • Gregory C.

Really bad in all ways. We walked in past the lunch rush about 2pm and sat for 10 minutes alone...... When our server finally came to us she never ever said, hello, please, thank you or good by. Terrible. She was also disheveled, athletically unfit and seemed at best to be exhausted, certainly not friendly or bubbly. Food was mediocre with absolutely no effort beyond the minimum put in. We had a good time because we were all good friends but I would never go to that location again.

    (1)
  • Tom H.

Lunch at the Ale House is nothing special but if you want above average pub grub and quick service, this may be the place for you. Prices are reasonable and the extensive menu offers lots of choices. The turkey reuben was quite good but a little different from the traditional reuben made as it substitutes cole slaw for the sauerkraut and there is no swiss cheese to be found. Service was great and the food arrived quickly. The parking lot is always full at lunch time and I can understand why.. quick lunch at an affordable price.

    (3)
  • Bill K.

Let me start off by saying that our usual Ale House is the one in Orange Park and we loved it. But seeing as we have moved over to this side of town we came here for the Thursday night Prime rib special, and it was just as expected, excellent. The service was a little off as the waitress was new and mixed up our orders a little, nothing serious. The Iced Tea was very weak, not much better than ordering plain water. All in all I would say that this is another standard Ale House, good food, good price and excellent atmosphere.

    (3)
  • Julie A.

Giant burger was OK. A bit plain for the price... I honestly don't remember much of it now. I had a prior meal to this but that one was not very memorable either. As for the beer? I didn't have any drinks from here, yet. So I have no idea. (Sorry for the short review. I'll be back soon.)

    (2)
  • Rick F.

Huge fan of the Ale House chain. We frequent this particular one once or more a week. Service is always good. The food is always good if not great. Prices are also great for this kind of food. I also go there to watch the UFC. Sometimes it can be very crowded for the fights but you can usually get a seat. Their Superbowl Party is the best deal in the area.

    (5)
  • Janene H.

Good things about Ale House- you know what you're going to get and the prices are reasonable. But I struggle to find anything here I actually enjoy eating. On this visit I had a grilled wahoo sandwich (they were out of grouper) and the fish was extremely dry, under seasoned and overcooked. It came on a bun with just lettuce and a tomato so it was tough to choke down. I subbed out fries for sweet potato fries which were somewhat cold. I'm also not sure about dipping my sweet potato fries in cinnamon butter. Butter as a condiment for fries?! Really? I'm just never impressed with any Ale House. The only thing I've ever found that I like here are their Zingers.

    (2)
  • Diana M.

We stopped in here for a quick lunch and it seems like an average sports bar with average food. A great place to pop in and watch the game but I wouldn't expect any 5 star meals! We'll definitely be back to watch some games, drink some beer, and have some bar food!

    (3)
  • Lindsay L.

I grew up in a small town. The coolest place bar in that town is the Ale House. So, as you can imagine, I wasn't exactly excited to see one pop up on the corner in my 'hood. Ale House is a good place to come if you want to watch the game and get super-cheap drinks. It is not a place to come for quality food. The only thing I would remotely recommend would be the Zinger salad, which is basically wings on a salad. But the Zinger sauce isn't half-bad. I've done happy hour here and it's do-able, minus the drunk college boys at 5 p.m. (You can imagine that I wouldn't want to babysit after a week of teaching middle schoolers.) The service has always been fine, but they seem to change shifts a lot. I hate being asked to settle and tip out so someone can leave. Basically? Two stars for uber-cheap drinks, decent service, and big tvs. Blech.

I had the pork Osobocco with broccoli, wild rice and black beans. All was excellent! They catered to all of us, Terry Parker high School mini reunion classmates. The poor little waitress did her best to make us all happy! She did good.

  • Jenn S.

I fully agree with Andy L. This place is not delicious when it comes to food, unless you're drunk. & trust me, huuge chicken nachoes aren't going to sit well after three pitchers. eating at alehouse might sound like a good idea, but it's not.

I love the place you can go for 20 and eat with a date... I do not like their service though. They always mess up the summer salad
