Forgot how much we love this place! From a fast casual perspective, @mamafus is at the top of our list. They're new "Black Market" Vietnamese dishes are fantastic! I had the Vietnamese Vermicelli, with extra veggies and tofu. Taste was balanced and delicious. He had their Thai Basil entree, which is his stable favorite and very tasty! If you haven't been in a while, go back today! #yum #wine #beer #foodporn #vietnamese #thai #mamafus #yelpjax #jacksonville #mandarin #asian #delicious #foodie

First off the potstickers are FANTASTIC. I ordered the teriyaki chicken and it came out steaming hot, which is a very good thing. The teriyaki flavor however was not a normal teriyaki. It was a sweet teriyaki and tasted a bit westernized. It was NOT bad though. Tasted very good, it was just different. P.S. Bring a jacket this facility is freezing!

This store has been a frequent stop for me the past couple years and has recently changed owners so I thought I would give it a review. The food is always great and comes out as I order it. I have stopped in for lunch and I have rushed in before they close doors at night and the service is always great and welcoming. I have had the new owner stop at my table a couple times to ask how everything is going and she has taken time out of her day to just have normal conversations with my girlfriend and I while we are in the restaurant. I like that the owner actually talks to customers because it shows that she really care about the customers and fulfilling their needs, it also provides a unique experience that you don't get at most other sit-down restaurants. Overall this store will always have my business and I recommend it to people all the time.

This restaurant used to be very good; however, since a change in ownership or management it has really slipped in quality. After my last visit I got quite ill due to their low quality of food.

Today was much better than last time. I think it was me partially and partially the cook. Maybe im hungry that is why the food is delicious. Won ton soup excellent. Egg rolls heavenly.

My favorite dish I always get is the Vietnamese Crunchy Noodles with shrimp. I never get anything else although if I did it would be the pad Thai. I love all the vegetables thrown in the dishes! Great spot for kids to get something different than the usual.

Some of the best fried rice I have ever had in my life!!! Very kind people and everything there is delicious

I love yelp! We just used yelp to give us ideas of where to go eat and came across this place. Delicious food and affordable too. I will add to my list of favorites places in Jacksonville.

I don't get the chance to come here often, but there hasn't been a dish I haven't loved! I had Tom Kha last night and it was just heavenly. The cashiers are nice and helpful and the atmosphere is comfortable.

The menu being on the wall was a bit 'off' for me. I get the idea, but when deciding on what I want to eat I like to hold a menu in my hand and really take my time to look over it. When I asked for a menu the cashier pointed to the wall... Didn't like that too much. Other than that, the food options are great. I ordered the lettuce wraps and Thai coconut soup which I love. I'm sure to be back. Also, my food came out pretty quick.

I spotted this earlier today and decided to come here for dinner with my fiance. It wasn't to busy which was good for us because we were hungry! We were told it was happy hour, so we got a few half priced appetizers. If the cashier didn't tell us about happy hour we never would of known about it. They didn't have any advertising which was a little weird to me. I'm glad the cashier told us because we ended up ordering 2 appetizers. We got a half order of calamari and the Thai dynamite shrimp. The shrimp was delicious! The calamari wasn't bad but I've had better at other places. My favorite thing we ordered was the Mongolian Steak with rice. The steak was flavorful and tender! This place has a huge menu, I think anyone would be able to find something they enjoy. I know I will be going back to try a few of the other things that caught my eye.

Really enjoyed Mama Fu's. I went on a Friday night so it was pretty crowded and service was a little slow. But food was fresh and delicious.

Every item I've tried at Mama Fus has been excellent. The service is quick and the ingredients are extremely fresh.

To be honest, I was a little underwhelmed. First off, I ordered Chinese fried rice with chicken. I simply didn't like it. I had like 4 pieces of chicken in my rice and the overwhelming amount of bean sprouts provided an odd texture to the rice. I wont be ordering this again. As an appetizer, I grabbed some spring rolls. I was told they weren't fried; just wrapped in this moist, wet wrap...hmmmk. I get them, take a bite, and I just couldnt finish it. It was just...a hell no. Parents ordered shrimp and chicken bowls (can't remember specifically, but they enjoyed their food). Maybe I just have a more critical tongue when it comes to asian fusion, but Mama Fu's just did not hit the spot at all. I'll add that I did not dine in, but while I was there placing an order for my food, I noticed the staff needed some help! One poor guy had to man the register, answer the phone, handle cash, restore ice in the soda fountain, and run food. The other employees equally had their hands tied. I'll pass on this next time and head next door to Moes.

I've been to Mama Fu's a handful of times and have always been very happy with the Shrimp Pad Thai. Tonight I decided to try something new and it was a huge mistake! The brown rice in the Cashew Shrimp Stir-Fry was undercooked and inedible. The wonton soup had zero flavor. Additionally, I went in excited to order some items from the "Black Market Menu," but the items they carry are different than the ones online. Though understandable, it just added to my disappointment. My husband enjoyed the Thai Basil Beef, which was also new for him, but sadly, I was underwhelmed by it If I do go back, it will only be for Pad Thai. They do Pad Thai really well, and the service is always fast and courteous. I just wish I had more confidence in their ability to deliver the flavor, and basic execution, in their other dishes.

Really wanted to give 2.5 but not sure how. This is an ok place. It is the olive garden of Thai food. The basil roll did not taste like anything unless you put the sticky sauce. Not the peanut sauce typically served. The crab ragoon was not good. Barely any filling and you could tell had been sitting a while prior to sitting on the counter waiting to come to my table. The shrimp pho was warm and good for a rainy day. Not as good as a traditional pho but had some flavor. The service was good but at 630 pm one would not think they would appear overwhelmed. No napkins at table or given when food served. Good thing a spoon came with my dinner as we had no utensils as well. The place was packed though. Maybe just a bad night. Plus: they have a large container with cut lemon and lime with tonges to help yourself. Please was also very clean. Sometimes the small things make a difference.

Is this place oh wow, this is the best food I've ever had and I can't wait to go back, no. Is it good and will we be back, yes. This is a good place to go for when I want Chinese food. The price is very reasonable and the food is satisfying.

Very disappointed. Ordered shrimp fried rice. Shrimp were mushy. Fried rice seemed dried out. My suggestion - go to Pei Wei at the Town Center instead.

Here's description for THEIR MENU..... "Teriyaki-Traditional teriyaki sauce cooked carrots, green cabbage, sweet onions, mushrooms and spinach greens topped with toasted sesame seeds. "Fried Rice- an Asian inspired classic White rice wok cook with bean sprouts, scallions, carrots, bean sprouts, chopped broccoli and the touch of mama brown sauce." Sounds lovely for $10.....HOWEVER..... LOOK AT THE PIC OF WHAT I ACTUALLY RECEIVED!!!! 1st of all; it wasnt "fried rice"!!!! As you can see, I had to fry it myself! And where's the "beat sprouts. (not 1!), the chopped broccoli, carrots, and mushrooms" ???? This is 2nd time I got this....thought 'hey everyone has an off day'.... Total bait & switch! Tasteless; although fryinh myself added some flavor. I can't help but think how beautiful and delicious it might have been with the carrots broccoli beans sprouts and mushrooms and how about more than three little tiny pieces of chicken!!!!! Absolutely AWFUL! Can't believe they're still in business basically I got white rice with some onions lots an egg and a couple of pieces of chicken!!!! YUCK! PASS, PASS, PASS! Even Panda Express is 20 times better! (Ps posted pics separately cuz usinh mobile app)

I usually have lunch here about once a month. They're a great fast-casual place for Asian inspired food. Everything is cooked fresh to order, they have Chinese and Thai themed dishes, people are friendly, and portions are generous. They also offer red chili paste on their condiment bar, which is a huge plus when you prefer spicy foods like myself. Their rice can be a bit dry sometimes, I prefer the noodle dishes. I'd say their Thai Basil noodles are my favorite dish and General Fu chicken if I'm not wanting noodles.

The food tasted good. Would have given this place 4 stars, but I feel that I did not get enough meat for the price I paid. Not bad but the price you pay is for a real sit down restaurant.

Used to love mama fus. Brought my little brother with me out for dinner. Ordered kid meals because we weren't too hungry. The cashier decided not to tell me that they had a policy that you are charged for large cups and do not get the kids cups that come with it. Not only is a kids cup include in the meal price that I paid for, but was charged and additional $2 for each cup. Would have taken a kids cup or water. I've never had an issue with my drink here an never heard of this policy. When I asked about it she said if I have her our already poured sodas back she would give me cups of water... Even though I love my ninja noodles I won't be coming back

Last week I was invited to come try Mama Fu's Asian House in Mandarin. They are very conveniently located on San Jose near 295 and were pretty busy when we arrived, which is a great sign. We ordered our food at the counter and took a seat. We talked a little with the owner and found out that she recently did some renovations to the restaurant (she has owned Mama Fu's since January) to make it more modern. She has done a great job because they place is beautiful. I also love that you can see into the kitchen and watch them make your food. Everything is cooked fresh right there! For my entree I went with the Mongolian Chicken with Fried Rice which had sliced mushrooms, fresh onions, and scallions. Wow, this plate looked fantastic! Everything was steaming and you could tell it was freshly prepared. I took my first bite and was very impressed. It was very delicious and had very distinct flavors. There was noting bland about this dish! I also really loved the fried rice. It had a taste all it's own and was different than others I have had. We were sitting there at the table commenting on how great it was, really. My husband decided on the Thai Cashew Stir Fry (Steak) with toasted cashews in a garlic soy sauce with carrots, broccoli, mushrooms, snap peas, and red bell peppers. He was also in love with his dish. I took a little bite and was blown away at the flavor. Verdict: Loved it! We were really happy to be invited out because this place was amazing! While talking to the owner we found out that they also offer online ordering as well as a loyalty program ($10 credit for every $100 that is spent!) We were very impressed with the food and the prices are great (under $10). If you are in the Mandarin area, give them a try!

Crab Rangoon, Pork Dumplings (steamed & fried) Chicken Lo Mein, Fried Rice, Chicken Teriyaki & Steak Teriyaki is the normal food for our family dinner when we visit or call for takeout. Everything is pretty good, although the last few visits the crab Rangoon has been almost empty, so we haven't ordered as often. Hopefully next order will be better!

The prices were good fit the amount of food. I got the Thai basil with a side of Edamame. The Thai basil was good, though I had to add sriracha to have any heat. The Edamame was OK at best.

As someone who used to have authentic Chinese food on a consistent basis, Mama Fu's is my favorite place to go when we go out for "Asian food." While all other Chinese restaurants in Jacksonville seem to taste about the same, Mama Fu's stand out for their flavors, freshness of their ingredients, portion size and how fast you'll get your food. Wish there were more Mama Fu's in the city and nation!!

  • Ashley M.

I was doing some errands and was starving when I picked this place for lunch. I am against fast food in general so I thought this might be able to suit my diet needs. Yup. Spot on. Two words: Lettuce wraps. Seriously. I had to come home and look up a recipe like this so I can make it myself. The regular size of the lettuce wraps filled me up completely so that I did not even touch my salad I ordered and took it home. The ginger chicken salad I did dig into at home and it was just as surprisingly tasty as the lettuce wraps. The ginger and the sesame make each bite melt in your mouth. The reason I am not giving this place 5 stars is because of the price. I got an appetizer and a salad and it cost me $18. Now, that is the kind of price I would expect at a nice establishment with waiters and such. Not for upscale fast food. But I would go again. I am usually in that area once a week so I see myself making it my new lunch spot.

I have been going here ever since it opened and I consistently enjoy the food! My usual favorite is Thai Cashew stir fry with chicken or with tofu but my new favorite is Red Thai Curry with beef! They do have quite a varied Asian menu including Chinese,Vietnamese, and Thai items. I love their won ton soup it has a very flavorful broth and also the chicken lettuce wraps are great. they do have kids menu too. Atmosphere is nice and the drink refills are self-serve :)

Mama Fu's is one of my favorite chain restaurants in Jacksonville. I've never disliked anything I've tried here. The service is generally very good and pretty fast. The prices can be a little steep but the portions are huge and everything always tastes very fresh (particularly the veggies). Be sure to get on their email list because they almost always run monthly specials. Yay biggest complaint is that there is only the one location!

    (4)
  • Alexandra M.

I did not like this place at all! The shrimp were mushy & you could tell they were frozen. The Mama Fu's sauce was disgusting, super salty and thick. I asked for a different sauce and all they did was mix in a sweeter one. Not worth the ridiculous amount charged.

  • Nick V.

Nice atmosphere, good food, but a little expensive. Ive been a few times and it never really disappoints, the service is friendly and the food is delicious. is definitely one of my favorite Asian fusion places in town.

  • Debbie B.

It took me a while to visit this place only cause I had not seen one, nor I had heard about it. One ordinary day a neighbor told me about it and I decide to give it a try, only to regret not going there sooner. Portions are more than enough. I truly enjoy their Sesame Ginger Salad w/Chicken. Not to say the least, this is the only place I have tried and enjoyed brown rice. You have got to try this place at least once...you won't regret it. After my initial review, I've gone back to sample other entrees and have not been disappointed. On the other hand, from the kids menu I have to say their mac and cheese sucks besides being too runny. But then again, it's not their specialty.

I love, love, love the tofu at Mama Fu's. It is hands down the best incarnation of marinated tofu I have ever had, and on many occasions I have tried to replicate it's perfectly conceived texture and flavor. Alas, I can not for the life of me recreate the perfection that is the tofu at Mama Fu's, so, I must order Pad Thai Tofu from this place every time I am in Jacksonville. Most of the other dishes here are pretty standard, American palate friendly versions of the actual dishes they describe. The only other thing I get is the Pho Ga, which is not exactly the type of Pho I crave when I want real pho, but, something I crave when I am in the mood for Mama Fu's Pho--which is to say a noodely, brothy soul warming soup!

  • D Y.

Yay! Another Asian Fusion place located not too far from Whole Foods Market on one of the busiest roads in the city! We came in one Saturday night only to find how crowded this place gets. So we scooted over to the "TO GO" line, where no one was standing~~got our order taken right away and only waited about 10 minutes before we got our food to go. 5 stars for the fast service! The fried shrimp appetizer was yummy! Just the other day, hubby and I went there for lunch and had a broccoli, garlic and brown sauce combo with Chicken and Chicken Pad Thai. We've had better Pad Thai as it lacked the heat associated with the asian spices. The Broc Chicken combo was delish!!! Would recommend Mama Fu's as portions are large and food is served hot and fresh!

  • Jacki F.

Not what I expected but the food is pretty good! Ended up being more "fast food" style than I thought.

  • Steffanie W.

This place is ok... it always seems a little dirty and noisy. I haven't had anything that was "great." Just average food. The cashiers also have attitudes.

    (3)
  • Tochia W.

Really was surprised by how good the tufu was with the veggies and fried rice. Very hearty servings; I had a lot of carrots, broccoli, and other veggies in my rice and a nice quick way to satisfy your craving for Asian Fusion.

    (3)
  • Caitlin R.

Mama Fu's is my go-to place for quick Asian food. I have never been a fan of "fast food" Asian cuisine, but Mama Fu's is quite the exception. My regular order is Pad Thai with tofu. As a vegetarian it's tricky finding a quick-food place that can make a good vegetarian meal, but the tofu at Mama Fu's is absolutely scrumptious. Mama Fu's (the Moe's of Asian food) is not entirely cheap, but with the amount of food you get, it's well worth the price. I usually leave stuffed, taking home at least a forth of my bowl as leftovers.

    (5)
  • Ron E.

I always heard good things about this place so we made the trek even thought it is on the other side of town. I won't make that mistake again. I tried four dishes and only liked one. The lettuce wraps with the chicken filling was excellent. Everything else was just alright. To top it off my son ended up with some allergic reaction to something in his food. He has never experienced this in the past from anywhere. I'll stick with Bento at the St. John's Town Center. I've tried just about everything there and i have no complaints. Sorry Mama Fu, you don't have the best "fu" in town.

    (2)
  • Brian F.

Went in with higher expectations. It was good but to me could have saved a few bucks and just got fast food Chinese. I would like to say though that their iced tea is fantastic!

    (3)
  • A E.

What ever you order, also order a bowl of coconut soup! It's about the best thing they have. The lettuce wraps are great too, while the other dishes are just good.

    (4)
  • Paul G.

Before Bento Cafe came to Town Center, this was my favorite place for Asian fusion. Their location is the only reason why this is the case. Best place in town to get a bowl of pad Thai, only $9! Pom makes really really good pad Thai, but he charges way too much. It's noodles and peanuts, for crissakes!:). If you are out in Mandarin wondering where to eat, stop by Mama Fu's, you won't be sorry! My only wish is that they would add authentic Japanese-style Ramen to the menu!

    (4)
  • Connie W.

Our family uses Mama Fu's to go. We have eaten in before, but with kids, dinner is easier at home. The food is still piping hot and yummy when we get it all unloaded!! Being organic and natural goes a long way too! My niece always gets the Ginger Sesame Salad with Wok-seared or crispy, soy-glazed chicken over mixed field greens, tomatoes, carrots, cucumbers, wonton chips and sesame seeds in a ginger vinaigrette for $7.49. It can easily feed 2 and is fabulous! Of course I steal some when she isn't looking! For the little ones we get the Dragon tails. Use your imagination, it is chicken tenders with Mac-n-cheese. Another favorite of theirs are the Ninja Noodles. Yep more chicken. I order the the Pad Thai, can't go wrong with this dish. Just beware, sensitive folks might swell up a little from the sodium. Try em!

I would come back,. It feels like Asian Fast Food but the food was good. I would like to see them work on the eating area a bit.

Husband and I got carryout dinner from here tonight. An hour later, we were both in the bathroom, sick. He had red curry shrimp, I had red curry chicken. We didn't share, so we think it was the sauce that had gone bad, or maybe the chicken AND the shrimp were bad. I also had the curry beef rolls, which were very greasy. I apologize if this sounds snotty, but I am SO SICK OF how substandard everything is in Jacksonville! For those of you who have never lived anywhere other than a D-list city, you probably have no idea what I'm talking about. And I'm sure lots of people know exactly what I'm talking about. It's like nearly all of the food in this town is just... not worth leaving the house for, ever. I'd rather go hungry.

    (1)
  • Jun C.

I love MamaFu's. I usually go once or twice a month and usually order their Pad Thai with shrimp or chicken, and Fried Rice with shrimp or chicken. I split it with whomever I share this awesome meal with and we always leave stuffed. Their portions are pretty big and prices are decent. The service is pretty good also. I usually take my little brother there and he gets the macaroni and chicken fingers... the macaroni is a little runny but pretty good. I have also ordered the fried wontons, they serve it with some shredded lettuce, carrots, and i think sweet & sour sauce. Mmmmm it's good.

    (4)
  • Courtney A.

The Pad Thai bowl is really good. Although Old Siam at Jax Beach was amazing, Mama Fu's comes in 2nd best.

One of our favorite fast food restaurants. Great Tofu, Brown Rice, Great Taste....What's not not like?

    (4)
  • Tom B.

I eat here usually once every couple weeks. The food is definitely better quality than the local chinese joints shoved in every other strip mall but you will definitely pay a couple dollars more for the difference.

    (4)
  • Nara W.

The 'crispy' noodles were tough and obviously microwaved. Veggies were decent but everything overall was bland. Found 5 (decent size) shrimp in the dish. It seemed to be a very americanized version of asian food. I will keep hunting for a more hole-in-the-wall place with flavor.

    (2)
  • Ian M.

Have been here a lot of times, food and service is always good.

    (4)
  • Alisa J.

I have to respectfully disagree with Megan's comment about this being substandard. I have eaten at Mama Fu's more than a dozen times. I believe her bad experience was unfortunate, but not the norm. I have eaten many meals at Asian restaurants in big cities, so I can compare the two. The food at Mama Fu's is high-quality and fresh, but their model is quick-casual dining. It is not exactly authentic, but my husband and I enjoy it for a quick meal. I like to get the spicy green bean entree with chicken and a side of brown rice; my husband's favorite is the Pad Thai (I prefer to get Pad Thai when we go to a real Thai restaurant - it's just a little different.) The Thai Shrimp appetizer is really good as well. Give it a try, I think you'll like it.

    (3)
  • C F.

I love Fu's. The lettuce wraps are awesome!! Spicy General Fu is super. Fried Rice with anything is great as well. Always fresh, always hot, always tasty. One of the Jacksonville's best fun places to eat.

  • Lora H.

We first found out about this place from a friend and decided to give it a try because we were told that it was a step up from fast food Chinese, and good clean healthy foods. We have never been disappointed when we have gone to the restaurant and this time was non exception. They used fresh ingredients, nothing from a can, and make it fresh as it is ordered. There are many different types of Asian cuisine on the menu for you to choose from, which makes it great for the family. We happened to hit it on kids eat free night, so that just made it better! For this visit I had the chicken and cashews with white rice and I have to say that it was pretty stinking good. Sometimes when I have gotten this dish at other restaurants it feels like the ingredients have been sitting around for a while, but Mama Fu's knows what they are doing. The beans and carrots were fresh and bright and colorful and begged me to keep eating! :) I would highly recommend this restaurant for quick sit down service with fresh ingredients and variety to please the palate of almost anyone.

I do like the Thai Basil Noodle Bowl here. It has mushrooms, onions, Thai basil, scallion sprouts in a chile hoisin sauce. The Coconut Soup is tasty as you can really taste the lemongrass. But I haven't really tried anything that has got me jumpin' up and down with 5 Stars excitement here. The location is good and in a central part of Mandarin, but I hate contending with the lunch crowd trying to pack into Moe's and Chili's next door. Parking can be a pain during peak lunch times in this area. And the pricing is just a little over what I can pay to the little Thai joint closer to where I live. The food isn't bad here at all and the menu selection is pretty standard for this kind of fare.

    (3)
  • Tim C.

I love Mama Fu's! Their Pad Thai is one of the best fast-food Pad Thai I've ever had. I also enjoy their Mongolian Beef. I've never had a problem with my visits. Definitely recommended!

    (5)
  • Jeanne D.

This is a decent place for a quick Asian style lunch. It is a little bit expensive for basically Asian fast food, they obviously feel that if they give you a large amount of noodles or rice that it is worth their prices. I don't need a lot of cheap starch, I wish they had more vegetables and protein in smaller serving sizes. The food is also very greasy.

    (2)
  • Jessica B.

Portions are huge but full of flavor.

This is a consistent place - they have good food and delivered quickly to your table after you order up front. The shrimp is always cooked just right. They will add a little heat to your dish. I love the variety. When my bff comes to town she always want to visit Mama Fu's

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions.
