My favorite Mediterranean food in Jax. Clean place and friendly family. I have regularly eaten their Greek Salad with chicken and falafel going on 4 years now. The feta they use is soft and creamy, more mild than the standard firm chunks at most restaurants. I introduced my coworkers to this place and all of them have liked what they ordered. I haven't tried desserts but they are very tempting.

The staff is friendly, but the food is just bland. There isn't enough garlic in the hummus at all, nor any salt. The one thing I like here, and I've tried a lot, is the home made order of potato chips. I order them as take out to go with other things. Nothing else is really that great.

This was my first visit and I was very impressed. Not a fancy place, but with great food and a warm atmosphere (you can tell it's a family business), it doesn't need to be. I ordered the pita pocket with lamb shawarma (chunks of meat) which came with a side (I chose a side salad w/ the house vinaigrette). The meat was very flavorful and authentic and the tzakiki was rich and creamy. So good! My husband ordered the Greek Platter which came with a gyro (sliced meat), a Greek salad, and grapeleaves (3). I love gyros so next time I will get that even though I really enjoyed mine. We were both very impressed. For a dessert we were going to try their Baklava, but the woman behind the counter that took our order recommended another dessert called Greek Galaktobouriko (which means milk pie). It was a flaky pastry, phyllo dough, filled with custard about the size of a slice of pie, topped with a syrup and warmed. Very good! It really hit the spot. We are DEFINITELY going back here soon! *Must Try*

The Pita Stop Cafe is on the Southside access road, and I've driven past it dozens of times. I finally made a turn at Hogan and went in for lunch - I'm glad I did. I ordered a falafel plate to go - they were delicious. The plate included several falafel, a sauce, tabbouleh, fresh pita bread and hummus. Everything was great. The service was very friendly. Even though I was just waiting for a to go order, I felt welcomed and comfortable. I'll definitely return.

Great food, and fast service. The staff was very polite, and you can tell it is a family owned establishment. Everyone is extremely polite and courteous. I can't stress that enough! Ordered the Gyro Platter which included a salad and pita bread. The gyro and pita were great. The salad was good with fresh vegetables including tomatoes, cucumbers, kalamata olives, romaine lettuce, and a good amount of feta. If you like Baklava, you need to try theirs. If you don't like Baklava, you need to try theirs. It will turn you into a fan of the treat! I had Pistachio and Walnut, and both were the best I've ever tried!

We walked in really hungry at an odd hour, but were pleasantly greeted and spoken to kindly. The restrooms were clean. The entire dining area was clean. The food came out prepared fresh and was tasty. The service was tremendously great! I cannot express how impressed we were with them. The dolmades were a little under seasoned but they were obviously fresh and homemade. The gyro platter was really good. There was enough food for 2 people. It was great. My husband had the shawarma with lamb and fries. It was really good. We didn't expect such a good meal from a strip center restaraunt but we were pleasantly surprised.

Since attending an elite event here a few months back, I've had Farah's in the back of my mind. I don't work super close so it's not typically a convenient lunch stop but when I found myself nearby running an errand, I had to stop in and grab lunch. George (the owner we all got to meet at the event) jumped up from where he was working as soon as he saw me come in. I went with the chicken shawarma plate and I was not disappointed! The food was ready quickly (I was kind of in a hurry so that was great) and George even showed to me before bagging it up. A nice big serving of the chicken shawarma over rice, a couple pieces of pita, and a couple of small containers of hummus and tabouli. The meat had a ton of flavor and was as juicy as I remembered it being at the event. I saved the hummus and tabouli for a snack later but they were so good and clearly freshly made. Farah's not only has great tasting food but a really friendly, hard working family at the helm. A really great option for lunch or dinner!

I'm not one that usually ventures out for Mediterranean food and I have never been a fan of hummus, but that was the first thing that I ordered (as an appetizer) tonight. I also picked a dish the Shawarma with lamb. You can have it over Couscous or rice. I chose the rice and found it to be extremely delicious. The dish came with a cup of that delicious hummus that we had as an appetizer, a cup of tzatziki sauce and a cup of tabouli. Tabouli is something else that I've tried elsewhere but didn't particularly care for. Again, the freshness of the ingredients made me really like the tabouli just as it did with the hummus. My advice to those that have not given Mediterranean cuisine a try, come to this family run business so you are sure to have authentic and fresh dishes. If you do, you will surely become a fan of Farah's Pita Stop Cafe and take note of their hours...they are not just a breakfast and lunch restaurant. The dinner plates are generous portions to surely satisfy any hunger. I almost forgot to mention the hospitality of the owners, George & Chris. Very friendly which certainly added to the charm of this "Mom and Pop" restaurant. I have absolutely nothing to take away from a 5 star rating for them. I hope you find the review helpful in your decision to give them a try.

I take a notoriously long time looking over a menu and deciding what I'd like; however, I had one thing on my mind today, shwarma. I ordered the pita version with grilled onions and tomato with a side of hummus. Of course, it's not complete without the tzatziki sauce. My brother ordered the gyro platter that came with a greek salad. The best way to brighten up a gloomy day is to eat good food. Our day brightened considerably after taking a couple bites. The shwarma was shaved thin and heaped into a pita along with the tomato and grilled onions. The blended taste of these four items (5 if you count the tzatsiki sauce--which you really should) was like a ray of sunshine in my mouth. When I skip breakfast I have to be careful that my lunch choice is not too overpowering or I'll lose my appetite even though I'm hungry. I was a little bit worried about my compulsion to try out this cafe because sometimes shwarma can be overly marinated. Not Farah's, the distinctive marinade of shwarma didn't crush out the other flavors and it wasn't chewy or tough. The consistency was the opposite. I wanted to eat it all but could only manage half. My brother did eat all of his gyro platter. He also liked the flavor of the gyro but thought he needed more pita bread since he couldn't stuff all the slices of gyro into it. Otherwise, he thought is was very good. The meat was sliced cleanly and evenly and didn't taste overly done or microwaved. We arrived right before the noon time rush so our food was delivered quickly but not too quickly that George didn't come out to greet us. We gathered from his proprietary air that he was the rightfully proud owner of Farah's. He overheard me pointing out the Yelp sticker on their door. George smiled and boasted that he hosted the Yelp Elite event last month. I told him those 5 star reviews are what brought us to his establishment today and if the aromas from the kitchen that were wafting our way was any indication, then I doubt I would be disappointed. George's smile grew even larger. All in all, the drive to Farah's on slippery roads through the drizzle was worth the trip. It's a little more money than we usually spend on lunch but at least the food and the warm welcome we received didn't make us feel cheated. Rather, we felt satiated with fresh made eats and satisfied that we helped to support a local Jax business.

Farah's is always clean, fast and tasty. It's a big place, so there's never a wait. You just place your order, grab your drink and a number, and the food comes to you. The owner is usually around at lunch and very friendly. I've eaten at Farah's six or seven times and it's always good. The portions are decent and they honor my corporate ID badge for a 10% discount, making lunch somewhere in the $7-8 range. I either get the gyro ($8.25) or tabouli pita ($7.25) and there's the option to add lettuce and tomato (no additional charge). Sometimes I order a side of the creamy tzatziki sauce to dip my pita in. All pita pocket offerings come with a side dish: fresh cut potato chips, red bliss potato salad, tabouli or the insalata (my favorite: cucumbers, feta and cherry tomato halves). The hummus appetizer is good - and the small size is plenty. The phyllo cheese puffs are perfectly crispy and flaky...a blend of cheeses wrapped gently in phyllo dough then baked...what's not to like? Oh, and don't forget to grab a slice of baklava. Mmm!

This is one of my roommates favorite places that he was very excited to share with me. We walked in and the owner/manager? greeted my roommate by name from across the store with enthusiasm and a huge smile. Big plus, I love personable staff. While ordering at the counter I was introduced to Chris the owner/manager? who was excellent in assisting me with trying something new. I can't remember the name of the dish I tried, it was a pita filled with something that started with a K, I specifically remember ordering it because I had no clue what it was and thought the name was interesting. He explained it as ground sirloin with Mediterranean spices in football shaped balls cut in half and grilled then put on a pita with lettuce onion and tomato. I requested a side of tzatziki and falafel sauce for dipping and was in heaven. I also got a side of the pasta salad that was tasty as well. My hands down favorite part was the ladyfinger dessert, apparently my roommate always orders dessert but leaves it up to them to choose what to give him so it's always a surprise. Let me tell you, best surprise ever! I have no clue the names but I was given the lady finger and my friend something similar but in a different shape and a little more sticky. I honestly don't even know how to describe it aside from flaky, sticky goodness. I also highly recommend the surprise method of ordering, less stressful and almost feel like Christmas when its brought to you! So, overall the food was fresh and flavorful, the atmosphere very clean and pleasant, the staff spot on and welcoming, and the dessert... well that is amazing.

Family owned and operated. They make you feel like family the second you walk in. I'm pretty regular there (once a week), they always remember my order. inside while small is very homey feeling to it and is always clean. You have get your own silverware, but they always bus/ clean tables after customers are finished. Food isn't always fast, but I don't mind because I know it's fresh. Best iced tea. Price is kinda high, but being family owned I would rather spend more money here than at a chain.

Okay, SO. I took my friend to get a haircut at the barbershop 2 doors down from this place, but I wasn't gonna wait until he got out. I was hungry. So I had already had Some Mediterranean food before so I decided to check this place out. I walk in and the place was really neat and fancy looking but empty. Except for a couple of elderly ladies having lunch together. So I check out their menu and I saw that their Tilapia fillet had a special for 7.95 that came with a drink and a side. What a deal! So I got that with some pita bread and hummus, and it was delicious! Even the plate came out fancy looking I must say. I left and was a very satisfied customer. UNTIL 15min later when I had to use the bathroom with urgency. That fish went right through me. And it's a reoccurring thing. I'd want to give them another chance but.. Idk. #currentlyonthetoiletrightnow

I can't believe this place isn't more popular! I came here last night and was pleasantly surprised. The restaurant was really clean, the service was friendly and fast, and most importantly the food was amazing and the price for the meal was more than fair. However, it was essentially an empty restaurant. Its is really easy to miss this place from the street and I regret not coming in earlier to try it out. I had the gyro platter and it was hands down the best I've had in Jacksonville. My roommate ordered the same thing and also got some baklava. The baklava was the best I've ever had and I used to live a few miles from Tarpon Springs, which has a massive Greek community. I came in alone at about 2pm for a late lunch. The dining room was empty. The owner was sitting at one of the tables doing paperwork and he greeted me promptly. I ordered a kifta pita and it took about 15 minutes to make it to my table. I mentioned to the server that I'm the only one here and that kind of took a while. A few minutes later, the gentleman who made my sandwich came out and said "I just made that kifta fresh for you!" The kifta tasted microwaved, and was bland. Basically just meat and parsley. I probably won't visit again because there are plenty of good Mediterranean places in Jax.

This place is in a small strip mall next to a gas station. Make sure to turn into the access road at the gas station, otherwise you'll have to make a u-turn. It has a big sign saying Farah on the front of the restaurant so you can't really miss it. Inside is very clean and there is plenty of space for seating. Its a mom and pop shop but they have been in the pastry business for a long time. We have been for lunch and their falafel and kebbe are the best. The ingredients are fresh and they are not over powering with olive oil and lemons. They have just the right amount of flavor. The baklava is off the hook. But then again, its pretty rare that I indulge myself with something sweet. Overall the food, presentation, and price is great. I just wished they offered a tad bit more variety.

Quick service at lunch time. Had the veggie platter that had a great variety. My falafel was the best EVER. One friend had a chicken salad sandwich and said it was very good and fresh. This one is going to be a favorite!
