We decided to try this restaurant after the advice of some folks and it was pretty decent. The ambiance was straight out of New Orleans. Our waitress was pleasant, nothing to remember but she was efficient. I wasn't too hungry and I'm not a huge fan of Cajun food so I had a Grilled Chicken Cesar Salad and my husband had the Jambalaya Pasta. We both enjoyed our food. My portion was huge, my husband thought his could've been bigger but in the end he was satisfied. The best thing we ordered was our drinks, we both ordered the Mardi Gras Punch, it was nice and sweet with just the right amount of alcohol. I wouldn't necessarily come here again but that's only because I'm not a fan of Cajun food but if this is your type of food, I would definitely recommend you come here.

Copeland's, a New Orleans gem tucked away in Jacksonville Florida. A first time visit thanks to fellow Yelpers! Upon entry you are greeted to a relaxed ambience of dark wood, wide isles, comfortable booths, and music which includes Jazz . For late lunch I decided on the Jambalaya. Your palate is initially hit with savory richness, a hint of smoky from the sausages, as well as the perfect amount of Creole kick chasing towards the back end of the ride. To accompany this dish is a buttery flaky biscuit, a great welcome to break to this rich dish. The portion so ample I would consider this a dinner! Dessert: Bananas Foster! I'm no expert on this but have seen a few travel shows highlighting this dessert. A welcomed find here in JAX! Ok, I chose the traditional Vanilla ice cream over their Creole cheesecake. The huge bowl comes with two large scoops in the center of this swimming pool. Floating in the liquid of goodness are of course the bananas! All intertwined with liquid savory flavors of Butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, hints of dark rum, and the vanilla ice cream as it melts and further enriches this dish! But wait, the surprise is when you dig deeper to scoop up that happy syrupiness. Caution though! The richness was too much to down it all. Everything was great! Been here twice so far, first time I order a veal dish and It was really good, this time I ordered a ribbye and I'm a little disappointed. Steak was juicy and cook to temp but the only seasoning i tasted was pepper. The plate it came on was sizzling hot and shattered before I could cut into it. All the sauce was lost in the cloth napkin which is a shame. I really don't understand a good steak being served on a sizzling plate since it will cook the steak beyond preferred temp and you should never cut into a steak with out letting it rest first. Definitely would not suggest paying that price for a "so so" spicy but bland steak. I will say this place has a very large and unique menu which I would like to try more

I haven't been here for dinner in years, and while I really enjoy New Orleans cuisine Copelands just wasn't grabbing me at dinner time. Yes, I've been for lunch and brunch a couple of times, and the food was pretty good. But tonight, I went with a group from work and was impressed. We started with the Crab Stuffed Beignets and the Buffalo Spring Rolls. The spring rolls definitely give you the taste of buffalo chicken, but the beignets were excellent - crab cake filling in tempura batter and fried, with a remoulade sauce. Nice. Instead of my usual Red Beans & Rice, I ordered the Grilled Salmon Cobb Salad. The salmon was cooked perfectly, lightly seasoned, crisp and buttery on the outside and soft inside. Along with a full plate of Cobb, it was a complete meal. The house dressing is a balsamic which was very good, although they put a little too much dressing on - and when I got down closer to the plate it was starting to get over-powering. But overall, I was surprised at the execution and quality. Copelands can get ridiculously busy at peak times - which is when I have dined here before - and that tends to degrade quality with all the pressure on the staff to keep it moving. So coming in on a rainy weekday evening may be one of the keys to getting their best performance. The place wasn't crowded at all. I would definitely stay away on weekends when there are just too many people in the place.

I've come to the conclusion that the food at Copelands is good, maybe even great. The crab cake and shrimp alfredo is ridiculously amazing, and they have a wine that I never get the name of that pairs lovely with it! Its the service thats either a hit or miss. The last two times I've come here I've been pleasantly surprised but if I would have based my review on my first experience here there would've been far less stars. The lunch menu, portions, prices are great and even with the lunch "crowd" we were sat fairly quickly. All in all I like Copelands!

They were not that busy, but service was not great I think due to lack of sufficient personnel. I was never ask if I wanted a refill. Three stars due to: - no ketchup, no mustard, no salt, no pepper on table. - music, country music played all the time. The restaurant theme is New Orleans, say Mardi Gras. - lemonade, I noticed this kind of honey flavor. Did not like it. Lemonade should taste like lemonade, not honey. Hamburger was ok. I would repeat.

My family came to visit me and we love New Orleans styled (cajun) food! The first restaurant that came to mind was Copeland's, so I knew I had to take them there! It has been a VERY long time since I've had Copeland's and it has changed for the better since the last time I was there. We went during lunch and I was pleased with the amount of food given as a lunch portion as well as the prices! THE FOOD: The side salad we had as a starter was pretty filling! It was your typical garden salad with romaine lettuce, tomatoes, croutons, and dressing. Ricochet Catfish: This was my mom's dish and it was on point! It was a lightly fried catfish topped with pecans, sesame, fried onions, and Creole Meuniere sauce! Amazing! To go along with her catfish was mashed sweet potatoes that were divine and corn macque choux which was a creamy concoction of corn, peppers, in some sort creamy deliciousness! The rest of us ordered the following AMAZING dish.... Crabcake & Shrimp Alfredo!!! It came with a meaty crab cake on top of a creamy bed of angel hair pasta and shrimp alfredo sauce. I forgot to mention that all of the meals came with a fluffy biscuit....WHAT WHAT!!!! I love biscuits! LOL! I am looking forward to returning to Copeland's. They have a Sunday's Brunch menu that looks phenomenal! I have to make it there one of these Sundays for beignets and mimosas! If you have never been to Copeland's, go! Their menu is pretty extensive so you're bound to find something you'd enjoy.

Here with my baby Samantha Visiting Jacksonville and came here for the first time and the food was simply amazing. Blackened Bayou Chicken On Point That Mushroom Sauce Was Aarrythang (In My Hood Voice) Samantha Had the Shrimp and Crabcake Alfredo which was made with the right amount of seasoning on the Crabcake. Only advice is if you don't eat pork make sure you ask the waiter if any of the dishes come with pork cause they don't mention that in the description of the entrees but other than that still 5 stars because service and food was that good

Copeland's used to be one of my favorite places to visit for lunch or Sunday brunch. However, I have noticed it's slowly going downhill. As usual, we started with fried bowtie pasta and artichoke dip. This was really good stuff. For the main course, I ordered the seafood platter (oysters, fish, shrimp and crawfish tails) and my daughter ordered the crab cake over linguini. It was just not good. My seafood was left in the fryer too long and lacked flavor. My daughter had the same complaint about her meal. Our waiter was so busy getting upset with the hostess for sitting people in his section, we were pretty much ignored during our stay. So I was only able to enjoy one Poinsetta. Seriously?! I will not be returning anytime soon.

Once upon a time, a few years ago, I went to Copeland's to celebrate my birthday. We were seated in the bar area and had a completely off evening. Service wasn't up to par, the food timing was so very off that appetizers came out just minutes before the entree. Our waitress wasn't attentive and did nothing to help the situation. I was not impressed and stayed away for a long time. I decided to try again after a day of shopping left me wanting a comfy restaurant and some soup. I love a good crab & corn chowder and Copeland's makes a good version. We arrived in the early afternoon on a Sunday - apparently just after the brunch service ended. The host said she just triple sat a section so we were told to wait a few minutes. Then we were placed in the bar area. Bad choice. We were the only people there and the crew was still breaking down from brunch. We ordered two bowls of soup and an entree. My mom's bowl came out first after 15 or so minutes. At 25 minutes or so, my soup (my entree) came out. Our waiter saw I had food and no sandwich and checked. He told us my soup should not have come out because the sandwich wasn't ready. The sandwich came out 5 or so minutes later. During lunch, workers were peeling up tape from extensions cords being taped down, relaxing high tops and chairs, laughing and joking around pretty loudly. Frankly, we felt like an intrusion. The soup was good, the sandwich was enjoyed. Our waiter was the bartender and he was good. He was attentive, followed up on the kitchen's timing mistake and apologized for his co-workers being loud and goofing off. Once we were done eating, we just wanted our check so we could go and leave an awkward dining experience. Even if it meant waiting a few minutes, we never should have been seated in the bar area when it wasn't fully ready yet. I honestly don't know if I'll be back again because I have low expectations for what kind of service I'll end up with.

We arrived around lunchtime and were seated in under 30 minutes - pretty good considering the crowd. So here's the highlights: visit the waffle station, the Belgian waffles are excellent and great with fresh fruit or the syrup with bananas. The shrimp and fried catfish were seasoned well - grilled veggies were a plus and our waitress (Kayla) was excellent. Hubby also recommended the cheese grits and Jazzy wings. The downside: the desert station was a let-down - both bread puddings were undercooked and had to be returned to the kitchen (hence the other 1/2 waffle for desert). You can skip the Mac and cheese - the beignets and French toast were stale. Overall I'd likely return for brunch, but RCBC remains my #1 spot for brunch. :)

I give it 3 stars because the service was great, the location was great and our server was awesome. We ordered als Cajun popcorn shrimp and spicy crawfish cheese fries . The loaded fries were delicious it had crawfish, pimento cheese, mozzarella cheese, green onions, and sauce. The popcorn shrimp had a good flavor but was to salty. For Dinner I had crab cakes with shrimp Alfredo. The crab cakes were seasoned well and had bits of onions and fresh thyme. The other meal at the table was crab stuffed catfish bordelaise. There is somethings on the menu that are amazing and prepared great and others could use some attention. Ask the waiter what they recommend. Sunday brunch is great and even for $30 you get your moneys worth. The mimosas are great and bottomless for $10. Compared to other Sunday Bruches this is about $3-4 more and taste pretty munch the same. If you are looking for something different then definitely try Copelands.

The waiter we have is really nice but talks super low so hard to hear could not tell what she was saying . Not trying to be mean but talk louder so every one can hear you. The food is spicy not to bad but could be hot for some people... and over all it took N hour to get are food and the bad thing is people who came when after we did got there food be for we did and left. So the waiting time here on a Saturday is crazy but Don't be surprised for the long wait. But the food was alright . There no need to have us wait so long got there at 7:15 it's now 9:24 and we are heading home. It was so loud could not hear the date at my table. Over all I will not go back do not like waiting for N hour for food.. It may be a popular place but damn.

The food is excellent I always get the tomato basil chicken. My husband gets the blacken redfish. We particularly enjoyed this visit because our server, Chris, was so accommodating. The Chef came out to talk to me about my food allergy. He made some garlic toast to go with my spinach artichoke dip because I couldn't eat the fried bow tie pasta. I can't rave enough about how hospitable the staff was! If you like Cajun/Creole food, you should try this place.

There we were, Sunday morning had slipped away and the day was tripping into afternoon and we decided a sit-down meal was in order. After several false-starts, we decided on Copeland's. I am a huge fan of classic southern cooking and Nawlin's and I have become great friends over the years so, I admit, I was a it dubious as to how I would enjoy the experience and food. Let's start with the appetizer. We had the Broccoli selection, which sounded good and tasted even better. Minced broccoli with cheese and bacon in a tart-ish sauce with a hing of sweetness and a touch of heat? Dear God, they were delicious. Next, there was the sandwiches. The grilled cheese, which included bacon as well, came with a side of mac & cheese, with more bacon, and was incredible. My roast beef Po-Boy was spectacular, even if they did put mayo on it rather than mustard, as requested. Seriously, the sandwich's were excellent and my fries? Wonderful. Cooked well with enough seasoning to give them a delightful savory taste all for a pretty damn good price. And then there us the service. Good, prompt, attentive, and friendly. Bad service can make the best meal a chore and good service can make an adequate meal spectacular. But when you have great food and great service? Well, that's the reason you go out to eat rather than just picking something up. The place was fairly busy when we were there, but I never felt rushed or ignored so I highly recommend the establishment.

It has been my mission to find the best New Orleans food in central Florida. Copelands is one of the best I've hit so far. I tried several things on the menu on the first visit. Crawfish cheese fries, crab stuffed catfish roulade, crawfish bread, jambalaya pasta and the Mardi Gras king cake cheesecake were all phenomenal! The crawfish bread was the best of them all though I think. It was a very hard decision of what to order because so many things looked so good. I'll have to make many trips back here even if I do have to drive and hour n a half to eat this food. Can't wait to try the BBQ shrimp boil and Cajun crawfish pasta!

I gave copelands 4 stars because the food is amazing. The prices are a little high but the portions are huge. I had the chicken eggplant Parmesan and my boyfriend had the roast duck, both dishes were cooked to perfection. The only issue we had was the service. The server was nice but our food took forever to come out and our food did not come out at the same time. He forgot my boyfriends baked potato and we had to get it to go. For the price we paid, we expected better service. Also, you have to order an appetizer because they do not offer bread and the food takes forever. We would go back because of the food but we will probably get it to go next time.

My husband and I were going out for dinner with some friends and their children. We've never been to Copelands so we all decided to go there. The service was terrible. After ordering drinks, the waitress did not return until about 7 minutes later. Came back with 3 out of 5 drinks. Then left and didn't come back for another 10 minutes. Brought one drink (which was probably sitting at the bar because it was already watered down. Couldn't even taste the alcohol) but we were still missing the other one. We were all wondering what was going on. She finally came back with the appetizers and FINALLY brought my friend her drink. We were already off to a bad start. We ordered our food. Waited some more. Then they started to bring the food out one by one. All the adults had gotten the food but we were still waiting on the food for the kids. What restaurant brings the kids food out last? Finally the kids get their food. As we all start eating, we each start commenting on how bad the food is. I ordered the red beans and rice. At first I liked it but I think it was because I'm pregnant and I was sooo hungry. Then I just hated it. My husbands food was ok. Everyone else didn't like their food either. One of our friends ordered a baked potato and it was completely burned at the bottom. The other friend ordered a side of mac'n cheese but it looked like it was macaroni pasta in soup. My other friend had ordered pasta and it was super over cooked. This was our first and last time eating here. We did not enjoy it at all. So bad we didn't even tip. ***I ended throwing up that red beans and rice. Disgusting.

This place is absolute garbage!! Just went there for my buddies birthday and had a terrible time. Had a reservation for 9 o'clock and didn't get our table till almost 10. They cramed our group of 11 in the bar area with seating for 8. Ordered a long island and I'm pretty sure I just drank straight sour mix with a splash of coke after waiting for 30 mins for it. The food was discussing. Not to mention I've had better service from McDonalds on 103rd st . They even lost the birthday cake we asked them to put in the freezer. Then when it came down to the checks the guy we had couldn't even figure out how to charge two checks on one card. This much stupid shouldn't be allowed in one place.

10/25/2013 Made reservations for 12 for a Birthday/Graduation get together for 7pm. Arrived 6:45pm waited for the table until 7:40 then had to push the tables together so we could sit together. So ordered drinks and the mixed drinks took over 30 minutes to get because the waitress forgot them. Got apps and they were not consistent meaning the same apps were prepared differently? So as the night progressed more problems and inconsistency's waitress kept disappearing and for 12 people and we had only one waitress. Service and food has much to be desired. Manager gave us a 4.00 off for their Brunch Buffett as an apology, I hate Buffett's so gave them away, needless to say I will not be back.

5 stars for food.... 3 stars for ambience.... Granted we ate here at 8 o'clock on a Friday night, but the environment was noisy & very crowded. The servers & hostesses seemed stressed & somewhat disorganized. We ended up waiting 35-40 min for a table for 2. The food, though, was delicious. We started with crab stuffed mushrooms, which were a little pricey (5 small mushrooms for $9?) , but were hot & rich!.I had the blackened chicken with a side salad & loaded mac n cheese. This was some of the BEST mac & cheese I have ever had, complete with diced ham, green onions & a creamy/smokey sauce. All entrees come with a sweet buttery homemade biscuit, too. Would recommend but maybe on a week night.

We went for lunch. There were five of us. It was not busy. Our waitress had 3 tables ours included. Two of them were 2 tops. It was about 10 minutes before we even saw our waitress. We were ready to order but she sped off with our drink orders before we could tell her. We finally managed to order and it took about 25-30 minutes to get our food. The only time we saw our waitress in that waiting period was when she ran by without saying anything to take a drink to be refilled. All the while, without saying a word. She finally reappeared with our food. We could all tell it had be sitting under heat lamps due to the fact everything was just warm and not close to hot. I'm giving 2 stars because the food was good. The service was absolute crap. To charge $11 for a meal and have to wait roughly 45 min for food is ridiculous. The waitress never came by to ask how our food was. We asked for our checks right after we got our food. Let me stress this again, it was dead. Not even close to busy. Everyone at the table had been to Copeland's many times before and had never experienced anything like that. I, personally, am not going back. The other 4 people might.

I sat at the bar, I was eating solo, and was hoping to spark some conversation with the bartenders. They weren't busy but they also weren't very talkative. :/ I ordered the shrimp Orleans. The shrimp was cooked well and I loved the texture and creaminess of the rice. However, there was way too much spice and even more pepper on top of that. Don't get me wrong, I love spicy food and I know it's intended to be hot but I couldn't finish the plate because of the amount of heat. There was way too much pepper added, I'm not sure if that was a one time thing. I will probably give copelands a second chance, I just hope it adds up.

Went for the Saturday brunch. This was the first time they did it on Saturday, you could tell they were trying to work out some of the kinks, but they were not big things. It isn't as big as their Sunday brunch, but it was still great. The only thing I would suggest is that they space the stations farther apart so there isn't as much congestion around the food. The staff is still as nice as ever. I hope they are able to work out the kinks and keep it going because I think it could be as successful as the Sunday brunch

I wouldn't consider myself a connoisseur of Creole food by any means...I just know what I like. I like Copeland's A LOT! I have a couple of fav's here: -Al's Cajun Popcorn Crawfish - Lightly battered Cajun-spiced mudbugs! YUMMY!! -Eggplant Pirogue - Thick cut eggplant lightly fried with this crazy delish cream sauce. It comes dotted with little crab claws. -Andouille Sausage, Red Beans and Rice-Copeland's does this classic dish right! The Andouille they use if not too spicy and the beans are the perfect texture. There is magic in the handmade biscuits here as well. I don't know what Copeland's does to make them so buttery, but I would love to have that recipe!!!! I have gotten pretty good service here even when it has been slammed which is always a good indicator of a smoothly running machine, and the food here is just really, really delicious. If you stay in the classic fare the prices aren't too bad, but when you get into the specialty aged meat menu, dinner for two will cost about $30.00 per person. This is a really great date night hot spot!

I have been to Copeland's several times and every time was simply wonderful. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. That is important to me. The place was spotless and I liked the decor. As far as the food is concerned, it has ALWAYS been wonderful. We all enjoyed the different dishes. They were tasty and properly spiced. Oh, one last thing, the noise level was quite low. I really loved the fact that I could actually hear what the people in my dinner party were saying!! This place has become my go-to restaurant. I look forward to the next time I go there.

We came here for dinner the other day, and got sold on their Thanksgiving dinner. I CANCELLED my reservation at Gigi's to taste some Cajun turkey this year, only to be stuffed into their front lobby with at least a hundred other people. I still haven't tasted anything, but now we're stuck here. Never again. Lesson learned.
Always consistent. We noticed the menu changed a little, but we have the dame thing usually. The Bowtie pasta and spinach dip is great. Hubby has the jazzy wings and yummy!!!! I get the warm spinach salad and its the best. Tonight we tried the tuxedo cake and oh my!!! Chuck was our bartender/waiter and he was friendly and helpful and absolutely the best ever!!! Highly recommend!

One of those places where the food is so good, but the service is hit or miss. Food highlights include the chicken parm (one of the best you will find anywhere), the penthouse salad, Bon Temps burger, and the bananas foster with vanilla ice cream (a premier dessert!). The service can range from great to slow to incompetent. This frustration causes us to only come once every couple months instead of once a week like we did 7-8 years ago.

We enjoyed our experience at Copelands. I had the jambalaya and my wife had the eggplant. Both were very good. I was curious as to why they didn't have shrimp and grits. The servicer was very nice and gave good recommendations. The food took a little long to come out and the ambience was weird to me. All and all a great experience.

Food were is good. Couldn't decide what appetizer I wanted so I tried the sampler which has Spinach Artichoke dip. Buffalo Spring Rolls and Bayou Broccoli. All of these items were ok, nothing to right home about but good just the same. But my main entree was delish!! I wanted the Crabcakes and Shrimp Alfredo but because I wasn't trying to eat completely horribly I wanted the seafood over vegetables instead of pasta. To my delight they were more than willing to accommodate my request and it was awesome when I tried it. Every bit of it was finger-licking good. And let me not forget to recognize the excellent service I received. Very attentive staff. Didn't have to even think about needing something because they were right there taking care of it before i could even ask. I would def recommend this restaurant.

Tried Copeland's for the first time recently and I have to say it was better than I expected. We started with the crawfish bread.. what's not to like about bread smothered in spinach artichoke, Alfredo, and crawfish? Good portion. Boyfriend had the jambalaya, which was the only thing that didn't impress me. The sauce had good flavor but I've had much better many times elsewhere. I had to try red beans and rice because its my hands-down favorite Cajun dish. It didn't disappoint, but the serving was a little small.. I was hoping to have leftovers! We finished with the white chocolate bread pudding and I will definitely be back for that dish! YUM! Overall a good atmosphere with decent food for the price.

AYCE Sunday brunch. Need I say more? Ok, let me explicate. For 20$, you get all you can eat brunch, which includes, beef brisket, fried chickens, turkey, shrimp, etc, in addition to the uzsh breakfast items. Add 8$ and it's all you can drink mimosas. This place was poppin on Sunday. Holla! Don't be a noob like me and go bizarko over the scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy. That stuff is child's play. Walk towards the back and there's beef, turkey, ham, and other goodness like fried catfish. THEN, only then, should you go back for the shrimp, chicken wings, cajun rice, etc. Afterwards, you should go back for more catfish if your plate permits. The meats were actually a bit dry, but it didn't rain on my parade too much. There is also an omelet stand, where you can get custom-made omelets. As for sweets, I really enjoyed the bread pudding, it was nice and warm and actually not too heavy. They also have a waffles station, french toast, and bananas foster. Copeland's also has items such as marshmellow and pineapple to dip in the chocolate fondue. There's also an assortment of melons near the biscuits. The food was above average for buffet. I'd say this was worth the 20$ because this girl can eat. The place was very busy so the service was decent, but understandably so.

The family enjoys coming here for Sunday brunch. There's almost too much to choose from! The New Orleans twist on the menu is a nice change of pace. Favorites from the menu include the fresh fried catfish nuggets, belgian waffles cooked to order, and the chocolate dessert fountain.
First time to a Copeland's in almost 10 years, most have disappeared. Everything was fantastic! We were seated right away, we purposely went before dinner rush. Another waiter took our drinks while the waiter was finishing up another table, that's impressive. When Troy was finished with the bigger table, took our order, answered our questions. Timing was pretty darn close to perfect. We ordered the Tasters Plates, which is awesome, can have a lot of different dishes! We treated it like Tapas...mmmm delish! We will probably return again and ahead of dinner rush for sure!

This place was amazing so happy we decided to go. My husband and I ordered the spinach and artichoke dip. I was very good came with fried bow tie pasta wasn't sure how that was going to be but they were really good the breading on them made them so you could even eat them alone. Would definitely order this again and it was a huge appetizer. Then we both ordered the shrimp po boy and fries. The shrimp had a nice seasoning and the flavors were great. Only issue a little messy if they didn't cut the bread all the way in half may have been easier to eat but would still order again. This was huge as well and lots of shrimp. Would definitely recommend eating here and I know we'll be back.

Here for a group adventure. Since I just returned from NOLA it was a real stretch but a delightful experience . First due to the size of the party (18 ) we were gifted with one of the banquet rooms and our own personal wait person and additional staff to assist. I played it safe and had the tasting portion of the Cobb Salad. It arrived crisp and fresh lightly dressed. Perfect! Entree was the Blackned Salmon ( out of red fish and I will not eat cat fish, go figure) I requested extra spicy and was given just what I'd asked for. Fish was moist and perfectly plated passed on my choice of 2 sides. I remembered ordering the Mac and Cheese one time, after tasting it I was certain someone ran over to CVS and purchased a box of Kraft, except it was not yellow enough. I heard no complaints from any of my dinner companions so one can only assume it was all good. It's a fun place food is fine and the drinks strong. They treated us wonderfully. I always give credit for that. Give it a try.

Sunday Brunch Buffet? Uh, YES PLEASE! There are food stations placed through out the whole restaurant so not one are gets too crowded at once. The Beginning of the buffet line starts with all the usual's, eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits the size of my fist, thick, creamy sausage gravy to go on top. But don't get too excited, because here comes the good stuff. Along with breakfast food, Copeland's lay out a great selection of their staples, Jambalaya, fried catfish, mac n cheese, and even red beans and rice! (BTW, this is not a place you want to go if you have an eventful day planned out, because you won't be any good after you eat all this!) After you get past all the great Cajun food, you are presented with french toast and made to order Belgian Waffles, with various fruits and toppings. And then BEYOND THAT, is the prime rib and carved turkey breast. On the other side of the restaurant is the made to order omelet station where the chef is equipped with a couple pans and an extensive array of omelet ingredients from vegetables to crab. Across from the omelet station is the dessert area. Multiples desserts available but the only thing I can remember is the White Chocolate Bread Pudding. It's so creamy and warm and delicious and oh man.... I'm going back this weekend.... All you can drink Champagne for $3.99 and Mimosa's $6.99, sure, why not? This is a moving, busy, loud restaurant, or at least it is on Sunday mornings. But totally worth the price and time.

I was very skeptical of this place. I've lived in Jax for 4 yrs and it seemed too theme-y. Got dragged there for a friends birthday and have been back multiple times since. I've gotten something different every time and it's always been great. They have light options too. My favorite is the chicken and yams. My husband loves any of their fried seafood. They are open late and I've never had to wait. Be aware the parking lot gets full before the restaurant is full. Park in the Publix lot and walk over. Bar area is first come first serve with drink specials.

The best way to celebrate Greek Easter is: a) Go to a Greek restaurant b) Have your yia yia (grandma in Greek) cook you a traditional Greek meal c) Eat ham d) Go to Copeland's for Sunday brunch If you answered "d", you are correct. I'm sure I could have cooked the traditional ham, but let's face it, I'm not a huge fan of ham and I'd rather choose from breakfast and lunch, instead of being constricted to one menu item. You know my love of eating. When I called to make a reservation at Copeland's on Saturday for Sunday brunch the hostess said that they don't take reservations for brunch and it's on a first come first serve basis. So we opted to get there earlier. Brunch is available from 10 AM - 3 PM. It's a good thing we got there around 11, because after 12 PM it was packed! We were immediately seated and our server was very accommodating. We drink a lot of coffee in my family, and when I mean a lot, I would be conservative by saying between four of us we go through at least one and half pots of coffee during a meal. Our server constantly kept coming around to refill our coffee and water. All five of us (I know I said four of us drink coffee, that's true, one doesn't like coffee. I find that to be weird) ordered the buffet. Plate I: I started with the omelet station. You name it, you could probably get it in your omelet. I opted to get a tomato, bacon, and cheese omelet. The person at the omelet station was quick and pleasant. After getting my omelet, I then went to get some cheesy grits at the buffet. The omelet was cooked great and tasted wonderfully. The cheese grits were rich, creamy, and cheesy. Plate I Winner: Cheese grits Plate II: This plate I wound going back for more grits, then got some brioche French toast, bacon, Brabant potatoes. The brioche French toast was "de" wait for it "licious"! It almost tasted like fried French toast. It was crisp on the outside and soft in the inside. Plate II Winner: Brioche French Toast Plate III: Now it was time for my lunch time plate: Cajun turkey, red beans and rice, mac and cheese, and some beignets. The Cajun turkey was great: moist and spicy. The red beans and rice were great, had just the right amount of heat. The beignets were fantastic and pretty much made to order. Plate III Winner: Beignets Overall Loser: Me. I ate too much. Pros: Variety of items on buffet, service, food was great, price of buffet ($19.99 for adults and $15.99 for seniors) Cons: Not having enough room in my stomach to eat more. Tip: Perhaps Copeland's should invest in some new cook tops for the omelets. There were multiple instances when the frying pan was off centered and I was a little scared that the spatula/omelet was going to catch on fire, considering the flame was coming up onto the pan. If you have a DD, take advantage of their $3.99 all you can drink champagne and/or $6.99 all you can drink mimosas. Get there early. Also, be sure to wear stretchy pants.

I ate here for the first time yesterday. It's not very attractive outside, but rest assured the inside is much nicer. I came for lunch and there was ample parking, but I can't say that would hold true on a busy night for dinner. There was an outdoor seating area with perhaps 8 tables. I sat inside though. The menu had plenty to offer ranging from typical brunch items to your average lunch fare. I had a "Bon Temps Burger" which consisted of 1/2 lbs of meat, jack cheese, and barbecue sauce. I ask for medium, and received a medium cooked burger. I mention this because it's not always guaranteed. The sauce was tangy and delightful. The tea was well sweetened, and never left half empty. I will say that my fries were soggy, which put a big downer on my meal as I love fries. Overall I'd say I'll go here again if asked, but I probably wouldn't come up with the idea myself as it just didn't wow me.

Mediocre is non exsistent here w/ special regards to the "FOOD"!!!! This is a "Must Stop" spot while in, Jacksonville, FL. If you love southern hospitality in white pressed shirts and black bottoms along with, "Nawlins" sustenance then, Copeland's is a no brainer. Hot Crab Claws are a fundamental need for starters. My favorite dish, that by process of elimination I wind up ordering. The other dishes although deserving and delicious, are of no comparision. The"Catfish Acadiana" hands down is my dish of choice. Then we move into the sinful portion of the meal. The desserts. If a priest is available at the time of your visit, you will need him to accompany you for this portion of the meal alone. Diablo, is in the Signature Cheesecake [3 caramel] and either a blood sugar count or exorcisim will need to take place after consumption of this sinful sweet. The service as well as professionalism is plausible with the very minor exception of a dimwitted hostess [whom will remain nameless] who lacks the same credibility to excellence that the servers maintain. Aside from the temperamental service that greets you, I rate this restaurant as Exceptional. "M ap Manje Bon Manje"

The food was slow to come even though it was not really that busy. The waiter was friendly enough but his service could not cover up the awful food. I ordered fetuccini with shrimp and was only able to eat the shrimp. The pasta was literally in a pool of buttery liquid. The waiter was very apologetic and the manager compted us a giant piece of chocolate fudge cake.. I would have preferred a good meal and not to have to lug home a 2 pound slice of cake that I did not want anyway. Skip this restaurant as its overpriced for the quality of the food you get.

In Jax, your good food choices are very limited. Go to Bonefish or even Longhorns, the fish at these 2 places were similarly priced and much better. -1 star because service was excellent, told her we had coupons at the beginning and split check and she still went above and beyond. -1 star food, because yeah, um, typical oily chain restaurant food. My salmon was overcooked rubbery and greasier than greasy, it was blackened and still had no flavor and it was $20. The beans were excellent. The sweet potatoes were good but had about a pound of sugar, a bit too heavy on the sugar. The other fish entrees, redfish and catfish were ok, but heavy on the grease. Corn/crab chowder was decent, the cornbread that came on top of the chowder was really tasty and so was the biscuit that came with my fish. The artichoke dip was tasty, kind of hard to mess that up. -1 star because we had a 50 percent coupon, had I been rating this based on regular prices, even with the excellent service it would have gotten a Jax 2 star rating. I'm being very generous with a 3 star rating. If I was in LA, this would've gotten a 1. I took about 2 bites of everything and gobbled up the beans because those really were good, boxed everything else. I would not go back. I'm a bit spoiled, I grew up on whole fresh foods, my mom is an amazing cook, I worked in some of the best restaurants in LA and I've eaten at some of the best restaurants around the world. And by best I don't mean most expensive, excellent food is excellent food, no matter the price point.

My mother and I were meeting 3 ladies I had worked with when I lived here 96-00. Figured it was close to where we were staying and for them. Our waiter who was from Minnesota originally, was very attentive and helpful. He knew his menu and had several suggestions. My mother took his suggestion for the hot crab claws appetizer for her main dish. I had gumbo and 1/2 shrimp & 1/2 crawfish etouffee. When the server brought my mother's crab claws, it was NOT at all like what was in the photo. You could barely see any crab claws, but you could see a round of garlic toast. She expressed her disappointment and they offered to get her something else. So she tried my etouffee, which was pretty tasty and ordered the small plate version. The other ladies had a fish special and 2 orders of the small plate of shrimp Orleans. Everyone had a good time as we didn't have to worry about trying to find the waiter and were left alone to talk. Overall, this is definitely a chain shop, but our waiter was the best. One suggestion is that the actual food that's delivered needs to match the pictures. As they say a picture is worth a thousand words.

I dined at Copeland's last night while on business in Jacksonville. I ordered Shrimp Scampi, which was good, but not great. We shared an appetizer plate with some type of fried bow tie shaped cracker? not bad with the spinach artichoke dip. There was also some kind of fried cheese ball with crab maybe, very good. One of us had the stuffed shrimp, which came with a salad (if he remembered correctly). The 5 shrimp, sitting alone on a large plate, looked kind of meager, but he said they were good. My companions said the bread pudding was very good. I was excited to see Banana's Foster on the dessert menu, but disappointed that it was not flambeed tableside (I don't think it was flambeed at all). I wasn't happy to see the 18% gratuity tacked on for our table of 5. Our total bill averaged $47 per person and we shared one appetizer and two desserts and only had one drink apiece. I expect better food in that price range.

Everything I have eaten here has been really good. My brother the burger connaisseur says their burger that comes on a croissant is one of the best he has ever had. I enjoy their salads, although their menu is so extensive I find it hard to believe that anyone couldn't find something they would like. The service has been excellent and they have a good bar menu... including the New Orleans favorite Hurricane, which is delicious. They have a great Sunday brunch. Lastly, if you feel like splurging... (waistline, not wallet) try the Big Als Chocolate cake... I'm not the typical chocoholic female, but that cake is amazing.

I had dinner here by accident, i.e.; someone asked to meet me there for dinner. I pass it almost every day, but stereotyped it as a Cajun food chain, but did notice it's parking lot is always full. Anyway I generally do not like Cajun food, but I must say I had craw fish & linguine in what tasted, and looked like a Bolognese sauce & I rate that dish a 9.875! Anyway I have gone back four times since, and experimented with their menu on the conservative side, and have found the food to all be very good, decent service, bar is just OK, parking is very tight so if you don't want your car dinged, take a cab, or park in Publix in the rear somewhere.

Dined here on our first night in Jacksonville. Of course I turned to YELP and found this place which was only a couple of miles away from our hotel. It was busy but they were able to accomodate our big party right away. The server was very attentive - a bit flamboyant, but funny. I ordered the angel hair pasta with shrimp and crab cakes in alfredo sauce and it was deeeelicious. Everyone else in our group enjoyed their food as well. I even heard one of them say that if there was a God of all hamburgers, Copeland's hamburger would be it! That's a huge compliment coming from someone who lives in California where there are a ton of great burger joints. The calamari was very tasty. The only item that I didn't enjoy so much was the Onion-Mum, similar to Chili's awesome blossom. The onion was not cooked well so it was quite strong. All else was wonderful and oh how i love dining in the south where every place served sweet tea, my favorite!

I have eaten here more that 10 times from dinner and twice for brunch. I can't get over how good their biscuits are. Try them with butter and Crystals hot sauce. I've been to this place twice now and I'd like to give a 3.5, but I can't. So I guess it's a 3 instead. I know lot's of folks love this mini-Orleans based chain, but I can't share their Big Easy enthusiasm. The first time I had the Shrimp Ducky over rice. It was pretty good and for $15.00 was a lot of food. Basically, it's this semi-spicy brown sauce with tiny pieces of duck and lots of shrimp. It's got decent flavor and went well with my beer. This latest time I went with some co-workers. One of them used to work at a Copeland's in Louisiana and really liked it so we went. I started with the Chop Salad. Now, I compare all Chop Salads to the one at Smith and Wollensky's. The iceberg lettuce should be cold, crisp and fresh. To make this happen, you have to prepare the salad just before serving. The other ingrediant should provide the flavor and texture. Alas, this was not the case at Copeland's. The lettuce was soft, and warm. The dressing lacked pop. There was not enough cheese. The bacon was non-existent. Overall, poorly done. For my entree I had the Pasta Shrimp Copeland for $13.99. It present's on a large white platter, toppped with angel hair pasta. The angel hair was not al dente, but not too mushy. The sauce is butter, garlic, a little basil, a lot of small shrimp and more butter. No parmesean was offered. Tasty, but nothing unique. I could make this at home in 10 minutes. It was not a bad experience, but I wouldn't choose to go back there if I had a choice. Got some free beads though.

Had a couple of friends visit from L.A. wanting to try some southern food for brunch. For a festive restaurant, you would think that the staff would be more.... "festive" but it seems the restaurant hired them straight from the mortuary (granted this is the day after a Saturday night of partying). Other than the "dead" service, the shrimp po-boy was light and not too oily. For those that are use to the New Orleans style po-boys, the bread was a bit soft and had less than expected amount of shrimp. The french toast description should be changed to gently fried to generously fried but it was true to southern cooking (maybe something to eat before starting the night life?) The corn & crab bisque was decent but I wasn't able to see the lumps of crab meat they put in the description. However, the filet benedict stole the show. The filet mignon was cooked to perfection with its mushroom sauce and poached egg with bearnaise sauce. The meal was slightly overpriced but there are a couple of gems that may make another trip worth while.

First off, it's been a while since I've been to Copeland's (about three years), but when I went, I found the experience enjoyable. Judging by the fact that the parking lot is still full at peak times after what I think is about 6 years of operation at its current location, most people agree. It's one of the few restaurants in the area that actually has valet parking (which I find frivolous at a small chain restaurant where the average meal is between $25 and $50 after tip, but to each their own). I only gave it four stars for a couple of reasons. While the food is excellent, New Orleans-style cuisine, I have trouble justifying the price. Also, the way the streets are structured in that area, the restaurant can be a little difficult to get to, especially if one hasn't been there before (I know that's the city's fault, but it's worth taking into account); aside from that, the location is superb. The wait staff is generally friendly and the meal is well-paced for that type of environment. It is not a restaurant where one spends more than an hour (about the pace of something like a Carrabba's or Outback). Usually, people eating there are catching a movie across the street. If you do eat there at peak times, plan on waiting a while for a table. It stays busy. I'd definitely recommend it, especially if you're in the mood for something a little different than the steak/burger and fries.

We decided to try this restaurant after the advice of some folks and it was pretty decent. The ambiance was straight out of New Orleans. Our waitress was pleasant, nothing to remember but she was efficient. I wasn't too hungry and I'm not a huge fan of Cajun food so I had a Grilled Chicken Cesar Salad and my husband had the Jambalaya Pasta. We both enjoyed our food. My portion was huge, my husband thought his could've been bigger but in the end he was satisfied. The best thing we ordered was our drinks, we both ordered the Mardi Gras Punch, it was nice and sweet with just the right amount of alcohol. I wouldn't necessarily come here again but that's only because I'm not a fan of Cajun food but if this is your type of food, I would definitely recommend you come here.

Copeland's, a New Orleans gem tucked away in Jacksonville Florida. A first time visit thanks to fellow Yelpers! Upon entry you are greeted to a relaxed ambience of dark wood, wide isles, comfortable booths, and music which includes Jazz . For late lunch I decided on the Jambalaya. Your palate is initially hit with savory richness, a hint of smoky from the sausages, as well as the perfect amount of Creole kick chasing towards the back end of the ride. To accompany this dish is a buttery flaky biscuit, a great welcome to break to this rich dish. The portion so ample I would consider this a dinner! Dessert: Bananas Foster! I'm no expert on this but have seen a few travel shows highlighting this dessert. A welcomed find here in JAX! Ok, I chose the traditional Vanilla ice cream over their Creole cheesecake. The huge bowl comes with two large scoops in the center of this swimming pool. Floating in the liquid of goodness are of course the bananas! All intertwined with liquid savory flavors of Butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, hints of dark rum, and the vanilla ice cream as it melts and further enriches this dish! But wait, the surprise is when you dig deeper to scoop up that happy syrupiness. Caution though! The richness was too much to down it all. Everything was great! Been here twice so far, first time I order a veal dish and It was really good, this time I ordered a ribbye and I'm a little disappointed. Steak was juicy and cook to temp but the only seasoning i tasted was pepper. The plate it came on was sizzling hot and shattered before I could cut into it. All the sauce was lost in the cloth napkin which is a shame. I really don't understand a good steak being served on a sizzling plate since it will cook the steak beyond preferred temp and you should never cut into a steak with out letting it rest first. Definitely would not suggest paying that price for a "so so" spicy but bland steak. I will say this place has a very large and unique menu which I would like to try more

I haven't been here for dinner in years, and while I really enjoy New Orleans cuisine Copelands just wasn't grabbing me at dinner time. Yes, I've been for lunch and brunch a couple of times, and the food was pretty good. But tonight, I went with a group from work and was impressed. We started with the Crab Stuffed Beignets and the Buffalo Spring Rolls. The spring rolls definitely give you the taste of buffalo chicken, but the beignets were excellent - crab cake filling in tempura batter and fried, with a remoulade sauce. Nice. Instead of my usual Red Beans & Rice, I ordered the Grilled Salmon Cobb Salad. The salmon was cooked perfectly, lightly seasoned, crisp and buttery on the outside and soft inside. Along with a full plate of Cobb, it was a complete meal. The house dressing is a balsamic which was very good, although they put a little too much dressing on - and when I got down closer to the plate it was starting to get over-powering. But overall, I was surprised at the execution and quality. Copelands can get ridiculously busy at peak times - which is when I have dined here before - and that tends to degrade quality with all the pressure on the staff to keep it moving. So coming in on a rainy weekday evening may be one of the keys to getting their best performance. The place wasn't crowded at all. I would definitely stay away on weekends when there are just too many people in the place.

I've come to the conclusion that the food at Copelands is good, maybe even great. The crab cake and shrimp alfredo is ridiculously amazing, and they have a wine that I never get the name of that pairs lovely with it! Its the service thats either a hit or miss. The last two times I've come here I've been pleasantly surprised but if I would have based my review on my first experience here there would've been far less stars. The lunch menu, portions, prices are great and even with the lunch "crowd" we were sat fairly quickly. All in all I like Copelands!

I paid $4 for a glass of publix orange juice. I saw the jug behind the bar. That's borderline offensive. For the food they serve, it is grossly over priced. I did not get my money's worth.
First time to a Copeland's in almost 10 years, most have disappeared. Everything was fantastic! We were seated right away, we purposely went before dinner rush. Another waiter took our drinks while the waiter was finishing up another table, that's impressive. When Troy was finished with the bigger table, took our order, answered our questions. Timing was pretty darn close to perfect. We ordered the Tasters Plates, which is awesome, can have a lot of different dishes! We treated it like Tapas...mmmm delish! We will probably return again and ahead of dinner rush for sure!

This place was amazing so happy we decided to go. My husband and I ordered the spinach and artichoke dip. I was very good came with fried bow tie pasta wasn't sure how that was going to be but they were really good the breading on them made them so you could even eat them alone. Would definitely order this again and it was a huge appetizer. Then we both ordered the shrimp po boy and fries. The shrimp had a nice seasoning and the flavors were great. Only issue a little messy if they didn't cut the bread all the way in half may have been easier to eat but would still order again. This was huge as well and lots of shrimp. Would definitely recommend eating here and I know we'll be back.

My family came to visit me and we love New Orleans styled (cajun) food! The first restaurant that came to mind was Copeland's, so I knew I had to take them there! It has been a VERY long time since I've had Copeland's and it has changed for the better since the last time I was there. We went during lunch and I was pleased with the amount of food given as a lunch portion as well as the prices! THE FOOD: The side salad we had as a starter was pretty filling! It was your typical garden salad with romaine lettuce, tomatoes, croutons, and dressing. Ricochet Catfish: This was my mom's dish and it was on point! It was a lightly fried catfish topped with pecans, sesame, fried onions, and Creole Meuniere sauce! Amazing! To go along with her catfish was mashed sweet potatoes that were divine and corn macque choux which was a creamy concoction of corn, peppers, in some sort creamy deliciousness! The rest of us ordered the following AMAZING dish.... Crabcake & Shrimp Alfredo!!! It came with a meaty crab cake on top of a creamy bed of angel hair pasta and shrimp alfredo sauce. I forgot to mention that all of the meals came with a fluffy biscuit....WHAT WHAT!!!! I love biscuits! LOL! I am looking forward to returning to Copeland's. They have a Sunday's Brunch menu that looks phenomenal! I have to make it there one of these Sundays for beignets and mimosas! If you have never been to Copeland's, go! Their menu is pretty extensive so you're bound to find something you'd enjoy.

Here with my baby Samantha Visiting Jacksonville and came here for the first time and the food was simply amazing. Blackened Bayou Chicken On Point That Mushroom Sauce Was Aarrythang (In My Hood Voice) Samantha Had the Shrimp and Crabcake Alfredo which was made with the right amount of seasoning on the Crabcake. Only advice is if you don't eat pork make sure you ask the waiter if any of the dishes come with pork cause they don't mention that in the description of the entrees but other than that still 5 stars because service and food was that good

Copeland's used to be one of my favorite places to visit for lunch or Sunday brunch. However, I have noticed it's slowly going downhill. As usual, we started with fried bowtie pasta and artichoke dip. This was really good stuff. For the main course, I ordered the seafood platter (oysters, fish, shrimp and crawfish tails) and my daughter ordered the crab cake over linguini. It was just not good. My seafood was left in the fryer too long and lacked flavor. My daughter had the same complaint about her meal. Our waiter was so busy getting upset with the hostess for sitting people in his section, we were pretty much ignored during our stay. So I was only able to enjoy one Poinsetta. Seriously?! I will not be returning anytime soon.

Here for a group adventure. Since I just returned from NOLA it was a real stretch but a delightful experience . First due to the size of the party (18 ) we were gifted with one of the banquet rooms and our own personal wait person and additional staff to assist. I played it safe and had the tasting portion of the Cobb Salad. It arrived crisp and fresh lightly dressed. Perfect! Entree was the Blackned Salmon ( out of red fish and I will not eat cat fish, go figure) I requested extra spicy and was given just what I'd asked for. Fish was moist and perfectly plated passed on my choice of 2 sides. I remembered ordering the Mac and Cheese one time, after tasting it I was certain someone ran over to CVS and purchased a box of Kraft, except it was not yellow enough. I heard no complaints from any of my dinner companions so one can only assume it was all good. It's a fun place food is fine and the drinks strong. They treated us wonderfully. I always give credit for that. Give it a try.

Sunday Brunch Buffet? Uh, YES PLEASE! There are food stations placed through out the whole restaurant so not one are gets too crowded at once. The Beginning of the buffet line starts with all the usual's, eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits the size of my fist, thick, creamy sausage gravy to go on top. But don't get too excited, because here comes the good stuff. Along with breakfast food, Copeland's lay out a great selection of their staples, Jambalaya, fried catfish, mac n cheese, and even red beans and rice! (BTW, this is not a place you want to go if you have an eventful day planned out, because you won't be any good after you eat all this!) After you get past all the great Cajun food, you are presented with french toast and made to order Belgian Waffles, with various fruits and toppings. And then BEYOND THAT, is the prime rib and carved turkey breast. On the other side of the restaurant is the made to order omelet station where the chef is equipped with a couple pans and an extensive array of omelet ingredients from vegetables to crab. Across from the omelet station is the dessert area. Multiples desserts available but the only thing I can remember is the White Chocolate Bread Pudding. It's so creamy and warm and delicious and oh man.... I'm going back this weekend.... All you can drink Champagne for $3.99 and Mimosa's $6.99, sure, why not? This is a moving, busy, loud restaurant, or at least it is on Sunday mornings. But totally worth the price and time.

The best way to celebrate Greek Easter is: a) Go to a Greek restaurant b) Have your yia yia (grandma in Greek) cook you a traditional Greek meal c) Eat ham d) Go to Copeland's for Sunday brunch If you answered "d", you are correct. I'm sure I could have cooked the traditional ham, but let's face it, I'm not a huge fan of ham and I'd rather choose from breakfast and lunch, instead of being constricted to one menu item. You know my love of eating. When I called to make a reservation at Copeland's on Saturday for Sunday brunch the hostess said that they don't take reservations for brunch and it's on a first come first serve basis. So we opted to get there earlier. Brunch is available from 10 AM - 3 PM. It's a good thing we got there around 11, because after 12 PM it was packed! We were immediately seated and our server was very accommodating. We drink a lot of coffee in my family, and when I mean a lot, I would be conservative by saying between four of us we go through at least one and half pots of coffee during a meal. Our server constantly kept coming around to refill our coffee and water. All five of us (I know I said four of us drink coffee, that's true, one doesn't like coffee. I find that to be weird) ordered the buffet. Plate I: I started with the omelet station. You name it, you could probably get it in your omelet. I opted to get a tomato, bacon, and cheese omelet. The person at the omelet station was quick and pleasant. After getting my omelet, I then went to get some cheesy grits at the buffet. The omelet was cooked great and tasted wonderfully. The cheese grits were rich, creamy, and cheesy. Plate I Winner: Cheese grits Plate II: This plate I wound going back for more grits, then got some brioche French toast, bacon, Brabant potatoes. The brioche French toast was "de" wait for it "licious"! It almost tasted like fried French toast. It was crisp on the outside and soft in the inside. Plate II Winner: Brioche French Toast Plate III: Now it was time for my lunch time plate: Cajun turkey, red beans and rice, mac and cheese, and some beignets. The Cajun turkey was great: moist and spicy. The red beans and rice were great, had just the right amount of heat. The beignets were fantastic and pretty much made to order. Plate III Winner: Beignets Overall Loser: Me. I ate too much. Pros: Variety of items on buffet, service, food was great, price of buffet ($19.99 for adults and $15.99 for seniors) Cons: Not having enough room in my stomach to eat more. Tip: Perhaps Copeland's should invest in some new cook tops for the omelets. There were multiple instances when the frying pan was off centered and I was a little scared that the spatula/omelet was going to catch on fire, considering the flame was coming up onto the pan. If you have a DD, take advantage of their $3.99 all you can drink champagne and/or $6.99 all you can drink mimosas. Get there early. Also, be sure to wear stretchy pants.

I was very skeptical of this place. I've lived in Jax for 4 yrs and it seemed too theme-y. Got dragged there for a friends birthday and have been back multiple times since. I've gotten something different every time and it's always been great. They have light options too. My favorite is the chicken and yams. My husband loves any of their fried seafood. They are open late and I've never had to wait. Be aware the parking lot gets full before the restaurant is full. Park in the Publix lot and walk over. Bar area is first come first serve with drink specials.

Once upon a time, a few years ago, I went to Copeland's to celebrate my birthday. We were seated in the bar area and had a completely off evening. Service wasn't up to par, the food timing was so very off that appetizers came out just minutes before the entree. Our waitress wasn't attentive and did nothing to help the situation. I was not impressed and stayed away for a long time. I decided to try again after a day of shopping left me wanting a comfy restaurant and some soup. I love a good crab & corn chowder and Copeland's makes a good version. We arrived in the early afternoon on a Sunday - apparently just after the brunch service ended. The host said she just triple sat a section so we were told to wait a few minutes. Then we were placed in the bar area. Bad choice. We were the only people there and the crew was still breaking down from brunch. We ordered two bowls of soup and an entree. My mom's bowl came out first after 15 or so minutes. At 25 minutes or so, my soup (my entree) came out. Our waiter saw I had food and no sandwich and checked. He told us my soup should not have come out because the sandwich wasn't ready. The sandwich came out 5 or so minutes later. During lunch, workers were peeling up tape from extensions cords being taped down, relaxing high tops and chairs, laughing and joking around pretty loudly. Frankly, we felt like an intrusion. The soup was good, the sandwich was enjoyed. Our waiter was the bartender and he was good. He was attentive, followed up on the kitchen's timing mistake and apologized for his co-workers being loud and goofing off. Once we were done eating, we just wanted our check so we could go and leave an awkward dining experience. Even if it meant waiting a few minutes, we never should have been seated in the bar area when it wasn't fully ready yet. I honestly don't know if I'll be back again because I have low expectations for what kind of service I'll end up with.

10/25/2013 Made reservations for 12 for a Birthday/Graduation get together for 7pm. Arrived 6:45pm waited for the table until 7:40 then had to push the tables together so we could sit together. So ordered drinks and the mixed drinks took over 30 minutes to get because the waitress forgot them. Got apps and they were not consistent meaning the same apps were prepared differently? So as the night progressed more problems and inconsistency's waitress kept disappearing and for 12 people and we had only one waitress. Service and food has much to be desired. Manager gave us a 4.00 off for their Brunch Buffett as an apology, I hate Buffett's so gave them away, needless to say I will not be back.

The servers & hostesses seemed stressed & somewhat disorganized. We ended up waiting 35-40 min for a table for 2. The food, though, was delicious. We started with crab stuffed mushrooms, which were a little pricey (5 small mushrooms for $9?) , but were hot & rich!.I had the blackened chicken with a side salad & loaded mac n cheese. This was some of the BEST mac & cheese I have ever had, complete with diced ham, green onions & a creamy/smokey sauce. All entrees come with a sweet buttery homemade biscuit, too. Would recommend but maybe on a week night.

We went for lunch. There were five of us. It was not busy. Our waitress had 3 tables ours included. Two of them were 2 tops. It was about 10 minutes before we even saw our waitress. We were ready to order but she sped off with our drink orders before we could tell her. We finally managed to order and it took about 25-30 minutes to get our food. The only time we saw our waitress in that waiting period was when she ran by without saying anything to take a drink to be refilled. All the while, without saying a word. She finally reappeared with our food. We could all tell it had be sitting under heat lamps due to the fact everything was just warm and not close to hot. I'm giving 2 stars because the food was good. The service was absolute crap. To charge $11 for a meal and have to wait roughly 45 min for food is ridiculous. The waitress never came by to ask how our food was. We asked for our checks right after we got our food. Let me stress this again, it was dead. Not even close to busy. Everyone at the table had been to Copeland's many times before and had never experienced anything like that. I, personally, am not going back. The other 4 people might.

We arrived around lunchtime and were seated in under 30 minutes - pretty good considering the crowd. So here's the highlights: visit the waffle station, the Belgian waffles are excellent and great with fresh fruit or the syrup with bananas. The shrimp and fried catfish were seasoned well - grilled veggies were a plus and our waitress (Kayla) was excellent. Hubby also recommended the cheese grits and Jazzy wings. The downside: the desert station was a let-down - both bread puddings were undercooked and had to be returned to the kitchen (hence the other 1/2 waffle for desert). You can skip the Mac and cheese - the beignets and French toast were stale. Overall I'd likely return for brunch, but RCBC remains my #1 spot for brunch. :)

The loaded fries were delicious it had crawfish, pimento cheese, mozzarella cheese, green onions, and sauce. The popcorn shrimp had a good flavor but was to salty. Sunday brunch is great and even for $30 you get your moneys worth. The mimosas are great and bottomless for $10. The waiter we have is really nice but talks super low so hard to hear could not tell what she was saying . Not trying to be mean but talk louder so every one can hear you. The food is spicy not to bad but could be hot for some people... and over all it took N hour to get are food and the bad thing is people who came when after we did got there food be for we did and left. So the waiting time here on a Saturday is crazy but Don't be surprised for the long wait. But the food was alright . There no need to have us wait so long got there at 7:15 it's now 9:24 and we are heading home. It was so loud could not hear the date at my table. I sat at the bar, I was eating solo, and was hoping to spark some conversation with the bartenders. They weren't busy but they also weren't very talkative. :/ I ordered the shrimp Orleans. The shrimp was cooked well and I loved the texture and creaminess of the rice. However, there was way too much spice and even more pepper on top of that. Don't get me wrong, I love spicy food and I know it's intended to be hot but I couldn't finish the plate because of the amount of heat. There was way too much pepper added, I'm not sure if that was a one time thing. I will probably give copelands a second chance, I just hope it adds up.

Went for the Saturday brunch. This was the first time they did it on Saturday, you could tell they were trying to work out some of the kinks, but they were not big things. It isn't as big as their Sunday brunch, but it was still great. The only thing I would suggest is that they space the stations farther apart so there isn't as much congestion around the food. The staff is still as nice as ever. I hope they are able to work out the kinks and keep it going because I think it could be as successful as the Sunday brunch

I wouldn't consider myself a connoisseur of Creole food by any means...I just know what I like. I like Copeland's A LOT! I have a couple of fav's here: -Al's Cajun Popcorn Crawfish - Lightly battered Cajun-spiced mudbugs! YUMMY!! -Eggplant Pirogue - Thick cut eggplant lightly fried with this crazy delish cream sauce. It comes dotted with little crab claws. -Andouille Sausage, Red Beans and Rice-Copeland's does this classic dish right! The Andouille they use if not too spicy and the beans are the perfect texture. There is magic in the handmade biscuits here as well. I don't know what Copeland's does to make them so buttery, but I would love to have that recipe!!!! I have gotten pretty good service here even when it has been slammed which is always a good indicator of a smoothly running machine, and the food here is just really, really delicious. If you stay in the classic fare the prices aren't too bad, but when you get into the specialty aged meat menu, dinner for two will cost about $30.00 per person. This is a really great date night hot spot!

No line no wait at the high tops at the bar. Get the Jazzy Wings these are freaking awesome and the Bow Ties. The best drink is the Mango Vodka and Tonic shaken not stirred the the William way ask Chuck from the bar. This place rocks!

There we were, Sunday morning had slipped away and the day was tripping into afternoon and we decided a sit-down meal was in order. After several false-starts, we decided on Copeland's. I am a huge fan of classic southern cooking and Nawlin's and I have become great friends over the years so, I admit, I was a it dubious as to how I would enjoy the experience and food. Let's start with the appetizer. We had the Broccoli selection, which sounded good and tasted even better. Minced broccoli with cheese and bacon in a tart-ish sauce with a hing of sweetness and a touch of heat? Dear God, they were delicious. Next, there was the sandwiches. The grilled cheese, which included bacon as well, came with a side of mac & cheese, with more bacon, and was incredible. My roast beef Po-Boy was spectacular, even if they did put mayo on it rather than mustard, as requested. Seriously, the sandwich's were excellent and my fries? Wonderful. Cooked well with enough seasoning to give them a delightful savory taste all for a pretty damn good price. And then there us the service. Good, prompt, attentive, and friendly. Bad service can make the best meal a chore and good service can make an adequate meal spectacular. But when you have great food and great service? Well, that's the reason you go out to eat rather than just picking something up. The place was fairly busy when we were there, but I never felt rushed or ignored so I highly recommend the establishment.

The food is excellent I always get the tomato basil chicken. My husband gets the blacken redfish. We particularly enjoyed this visit because our server, Chris, was so accommodating. The Chef came out to talk to me about my food allergy. He made some garlic toast to go with my spinach artichoke dip because I couldn't eat the fried bow tie pasta. I can't rave enough about how hospitable the staff was! If you like Cajun/Creole food, you should try this place.
It has been my mission to find the best New Orleans food in central Florida. Copelands is one of the best I've hit so far. I tried several things on the menu on the first visit. Crawfish cheese fries, crab stuffed catfish roulade, crawfish bread, jambalaya pasta and the Mardi Gras king cake cheesecake were all phenomenal! The crawfish bread was the best of them all though I think. It was a very hard decision of what to order because so many things looked so good. I'll have to make many trips back here even if I do have to drive and hour n a half to eat this food. Can't wait to try the BBQ shrimp boil and Cajun crawfish pasta!

I have been coming here since I moved to Jacksonville 3 years ago. This is the best Cajun food in Jacksonville! Absolutely delicious every time I eat there. Their Jambalaya is my favorite. Tonight i went there and got their new Crawfish cheese fries appetizer! It was so delicious I am already thinking I will be back again soon...even if just for that!

I have been to Copeland's several times and every time was simply wonderful. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. That is important to me. The place was spotless and I liked the decor. As far as the food is concerned, it has ALWAYS been wonderful. We all enjoyed the different dishes. They were tasty and properly spiced. Oh, one last thing, the noise level was quite low. I really loved the fact that I could actually hear what the people in my dinner party were saying!! This place has become my go-to restaurant. I look forward to the next time I go there.

I gave copelands 4 stars because the food is amazing. The prices are a little high but the portions are huge. I had the chicken eggplant Parmesan and my boyfriend had the roast duck, both dishes were cooked to perfection. The only issue we had was the service. The server was nice but our food took forever to come out and our food did not come out at the same time. He forgot my boyfriends baked potato and we had to get it to go. For the price we paid, we expected better service. Also, you have to order an appetizer because they do not offer bread and the food takes forever. We would go back because of the food but we will probably get it to go next time.

Always consistent. We noticed the menu changed a little, but we have the dame thing usually. The Bowtie pasta and spinach dip is great. Hubby has the jazzy wings and yummy!!!! I get the warm spinach salad and its the best. Tonight we tried the tuxedo cake and oh my!!! Chuck was our bartender/waiter and he was friendly and helpful and absolutely the best ever!!! Highly recommend!

My husband and I were going out for dinner with some friends and their children. We've never been to Copelands so we all decided to go there. The service was terrible. After ordering drinks, the waitress did not return until about 7 minutes later. Came back with 3 out of 5 drinks. Then left and didn't come back for another 10 minutes. Brought one drink (which was probably sitting at the bar because it was already watered down. Couldn't even taste the alcohol) but we were still missing the other one. We were all wondering what was going on. She finally came back with the appetizers and FINALLY brought my friend her drink. We were already off to a bad start. We ordered our food. Waited some more. Then they started to bring the food out one by one. All the adults had gotten the food but we were still waiting on the food for the kids. What restaurant brings the kids food out last? Finally the kids get their food. As we all start eating, we each start commenting on how bad the food is. I ordered the red beans and rice. At first I liked it but I think it was because I'm pregnant and I was sooo hungry. Then I just hated it. My husbands food was ok. Everyone else didn't like their food either. One of our friends ordered a baked potato and it was completely burned at the bottom. The other friend ordered a side of mac'n cheese but it looked like it was macaroni pasta in soup. My other friend had ordered pasta and it was super over cooked. This was our first and last time eating here. We did not enjoy it at all. So bad we didn't even tip. ***I ended throwing up that red beans and rice. Disgusting.

This place is absolute garbage!! Just went there for my buddies birthday and had a terrible time. Had a reservation for 9 o'clock and didn't get our table till almost 10. They cramed our group of 11 in the bar area with seating for 8. Ordered a long island and I'm pretty sure I just drank straight sour mix with a splash of coke after waiting for 30 mins for it. The food was discussing. Not to mention I've had better service from McDonalds on 103rd st . They even lost the birthday cake we asked them to put in the freezer. Then when it came down to the checks the guy we had couldn't even figure out how to charge two checks on one card. This much stupid shouldn't be allowed in one place.

I ate here for the first time yesterday. It's not very attractive outside, but rest assured the inside is much nicer. I came for lunch and there was ample parking, but I can't say that would hold true on a busy night for dinner. There was an outdoor seating area with perhaps 8 tables. I sat inside though. The menu had plenty to offer ranging from typical brunch items to your average lunch fare. I had a "Bon Temps Burger" which consisted of 1/2 lbs of meat, jack cheese, and barbecue sauce. I ask for medium, and received a medium cooked burger. I mention this because it's not always guaranteed. The sauce was tangy and delightful. The tea was well sweetened, and never left half empty. I will say that my fries were soggy, which put a big downer on my meal as I love fries. Overall I'd say I'll go here again if asked, but I probably wouldn't come up with the idea myself as it just didn't wow me.

We came here for dinner the other day, and got sold on their Thanksgiving dinner. I CANCELLED my reservation at Gigi's to taste some Cajun turkey this year, only to be stuffed into their front lobby with at least a hundred other people. I still haven't tasted anything, but now we're stuck here. Never again. Lesson learned.

Mediocre is non exsistent here w/ special regards to the "FOOD"!!!! This is a "Must Stop" spot while in, Jacksonville, FL. If you love southern hospitality in white pressed shirts and black bottoms along with, "Nawlins" sustenance then, Copeland's is a no brainer. Hot Crab Claws are a fundamental need for starters. My favorite dish, that by process of elimination I wind up ordering. The other dishes although deserving and delicious, are of no comparision. The"Catfish Acadiana" hands down is my dish of choice. Then we move into the sinful portion of the meal. The desserts. If a priest is available at the time of your visit, you will need him to accompany you for this portion of the meal alone. Diablo, is in the Signature Cheesecake [3 caramel] and either a blood sugar count or exorcisim will need to take place after consumption of this sinful sweet. The service as well as professionalism is plausible with the very minor exception of a dimwitted hostess [whom will remain nameless] who lacks the same credibility to excellence that the servers maintain. Aside from the temperamental service that greets you, I rate this restaurant as Exceptional. "M ap Manje Bon Manje"

The food was slow to come even though it was not really that busy. The waiter was friendly enough but his service could not cover up the awful food. I ordered fetuccini with shrimp and was only able to eat the shrimp. The pasta was literally in a pool of buttery liquid. The waiter was very apologetic and the manager compted us a giant piece of chocolate fudge cake.. I would have preferred a good meal and not to have to lug home a 2 pound slice of cake that I did not want anyway. Skip this restaurant as its overpriced for the quality of the food you get.

In Jax, your good food choices are very limited. Go to Bonefish or even Longhorns, the fish at these 2 places were similarly priced and much better. -1 star because service was excellent, told her we had coupons at the beginning and split check and she still went above and beyond. -1 star food, because yeah, um, typical oily chain restaurant food. My salmon was overcooked rubbery and greasier than greasy, it was blackened and still had no flavor and it was $20. The beans were excellent. The sweet potatoes were good but had about a pound of sugar, a bit too heavy on the sugar. The other fish entrees, redfish and catfish were ok, but heavy on the grease. Corn/crab chowder was decent, the cornbread that came on top of the chowder was really tasty and so was the biscuit that came with my fish. The artichoke dip was tasty, kind of hard to mess that up. -1 star because we had a 50 percent coupon, had I been rating this based on regular prices, even with the excellent service it would have gotten a Jax 2 star rating. I'm being very generous with a 3 star rating. If I was in LA, this would've gotten a 1. I took about 2 bites of everything and gobbled up the beans because those really were good, boxed everything else. I would not go back. I'm a bit spoiled, I grew up on whole fresh foods, my mom is an amazing cook, I worked in some of the best restaurants in LA and I've eaten at some of the best restaurants around the world. And by best I don't mean most expensive, excellent food is excellent food, no matter the price point.

My mother and I were meeting 3 ladies I had worked with when I lived here 96-00. Figured it was close to where we were staying and for them. Our waiter who was from Minnesota originally, was very attentive and helpful. He knew his menu and had several suggestions. My mother took his suggestion for the hot crab claws appetizer for her main dish. I had gumbo and 1/2 shrimp & 1/2 crawfish etouffee. When the server brought my mother's crab claws, it was NOT at all like what was in the photo. You could barely see any crab claws, but you could see a round of garlic toast. She expressed her disappointment and they offered to get her something else. So she tried my etouffee, which was pretty tasty and ordered the small plate version. The other ladies had a fish special and 2 orders of the small plate of shrimp Orleans. Everyone had a good time as we didn't have to worry about trying to find the waiter and were left alone to talk. Overall, this is definitely a chain shop, but our waiter was the best. One suggestion is that the actual food that's delivered needs to match the pictures. As they say a picture is worth a thousand words.

I dined at Copeland's last night while on business in Jacksonville. I ordered Shrimp Scampi, which was good, but not great. We shared an appetizer plate with some type of fried bow tie shaped cracker? not bad with the spinach artichoke dip. There was also some kind of fried cheese ball with crab maybe, very good. One of us had the stuffed shrimp, which came with a salad (if he remembered correctly). The 5 shrimp, sitting alone on a large plate, looked kind of meager, but he said they were good. My companions said the bread pudding was very good. I was excited to see Banana's Foster on the dessert menu, but disappointed that it was not flambeed tableside (I don't think it was flambeed at all). I wasn't happy to see the 18% gratuity tacked on for our table of 5. Our total bill averaged $47 per person and we shared one appetizer and two desserts and only had one drink apiece. I expect better food in that price range.

Jacksonville was, and still is the best, but I am holding my breath for when I get to the original restaurant in New Orleans. :) I believe in traveling for good food. lol P.S. - The Rockville, MD location was not so great. Everything I have eaten here has been really good. My brother the burger connaisseur says their burger that comes on a croissant is one of the best he has ever had. I enjoy their salads, although their menu is so extensive I find it hard to believe that anyone couldn't find something they would like. The service has been excellent and they have a good bar menu... including the New Orleans favorite Hurricane, which is delicious. They have a great Sunday brunch. Lastly, if you feel like splurging... (waistline, not wallet) try the Big Als Chocolate cake... I'm not the typical chocoholic female, but that cake is amazing.

I had dinner here by accident, i.e.; someone asked to meet me there for dinner. I pass it almost every day, but stereotyped it as a Cajun food chain, but did notice it's parking lot is always full. Anyway I generally do not like Cajun food, but I must say I had craw fish & linguine in what tasted, and looked like a Bolognese sauce & I rate that dish a 9.875! Anyway I have gone back four times since, and experimented with their menu on the conservative side, and have found the food to all be very good, decent service, bar is just OK, parking is very tight so if you don't want your car dinged, take a cab, or park in Publix in the rear somewhere.

Dined here on our first night in Jacksonville. Of course I turned to YELP and found this place which was only a couple of miles away from our hotel. It was busy but they were able to accomodate our big party right away. The server was very attentive - a bit flamboyant, but funny. I ordered the angel hair pasta with shrimp and crab cakes in alfredo sauce and it was deeeelicious. Everyone else in our group enjoyed their food as well. I even heard one of them say that if there was a God of all hamburgers, Copeland's hamburger would be it! That's a huge compliment coming from someone who lives in California where there are a ton of great burger joints. The calamari was very tasty. The only item that I didn't enjoy so much was the Onion-Mum, similar to Chili's awesome blossom. The onion was not cooked well so it was quite strong. All else was wonderful and oh how i love dining in the south where every place served sweet tea, my favorite!

I have eaten here more that 10 times from dinner and twice for brunch. I can't get over how good their biscuits are. Try them with butter and Crystals hot sauce. The omelets for brunch have 6 eggs each, be careful when ordering. Yeah I said it 6 freaking eggs. Deep fried french toast was good the first time, second time too much oil.

I've been to this place twice now and I'd like to give a 3.5, but I can't. So I guess it's a 3 instead. I know lot's of folks love this mini-Orleans based chain, but I can't share their Big Easy enthusiasm. The first time I had the Shrimp Ducky over rice. It was pretty good and for $15.00 was a lot of food. Basically, it's this semi-spicy brown sauce with tiny pieces of duck and lots of shrimp. It's got decent flavor and went well with my beer. This latest time I went with some co-workers. One of them used to work at a Copeland's in Louisiana and really liked it so we went. I started with the Chop Salad. Now, I compare all Chop Salads to the one at Smith and Wollensky's. The iceberg lettuce should be cold, crisp and fresh. To make this happen, you have to prepare the salad just before serving. The other ingrediant should provide the flavor and texture. Alas, this was not the case at Copeland's. The lettuce was soft, and warm. The dressing lacked pop. There was not enough cheese. The bacon was non-existent. Overall, poorly done. For my entree I had the Pasta Shrimp Copeland for $13.99. It present's on a large white platter, toppped with angel hair pasta. The angel hair was not al dente, but not too mushy. The sauce is butter, garlic, a little basil, a lot of small shrimp and more butter. No parmesean was offered. Tasty, but nothing unique. I could make this at home in 10 minutes. It was not a bad experience, but I wouldn't choose to go back there if I had a choice. Got some free beads though.

Had a couple of friends visit from L.A. wanting to try some southern food for brunch. For a festive restaurant, you would think that the staff would be more.... "festive" but it seems the restaurant hired them straight from the mortuary (granted this is the day after a Saturday night of partying). Other than the "dead" service, the shrimp po-boy was light and not too oily. For those that are use to the New Orleans style po-boys, the bread was a bit soft and had less than expected amount of shrimp. The french toast description should be changed to gently fried to generously fried but it was true to southern cooking (maybe something to eat before starting the night life?) The corn & crab bisque was decent but I wasn't able to see the lumps of crab meat they put in the description. However, the filet benedict stole the show. The filet mignon was cooked to perfection with its mushroom sauce and poached egg with bearnaise sauce. The meal was slightly overpriced but there are a couple of gems that may make another trip worth while.

First off, it's been a while since I've been to Copeland's (about three years), but when I went, I found the experience enjoyable. Judging by the fact that the parking lot is still full at peak times after what I think is about 6 years of operation at its current location, most people agree. It's one of the few restaurants in the area that actually has valet parking (which I find frivolous at a small chain restaurant where the average meal is between $25 and $50 after tip, but to each their own). I only gave it four stars for a couple of reasons. While the food is excellent, New Orleans-style cuisine, I have trouble justifying the price. Also, the way the streets are structured in that area, the restaurant can be a little difficult to get to, especially if one hasn't been there before (I know that's the city's fault, but it's worth taking into account); aside from that, the location is superb. The wait staff is generally friendly and the meal is well-paced for that type of environment. It is not a restaurant where one spends more than an hour (about the pace of something like a Carrabba's or Outback). Usually, people eating there are catching a movie across the street. If you do eat there at peak times, plan on waiting a while for a table. It stays busy. I'd definitely recommend it, especially if you're in the mood for something a little different than the steak/burger and fries.

One of those places where the food is so good, but the service is hit or miss. Food highlights include the chicken parm (one of the best you will find anywhere), the penthouse salad, Bon Temps burger, and the bananas foster with vanilla ice cream (a premier dessert!). The service can range from great to slow to incompetent. This frustration causes us to only come once every couple months instead of once a week like we did 7-8 years ago.

We enjoyed our experience at Copelands. I had the jambalaya and my wife had the eggplant. Both were very good. I was curious as to why they didn't have shrimp and grits. The servicer was very nice and gave good recommendations. The food took a little long to come out and the ambience was weird to me. All and all a great experience.

Food were is good. Couldn't decide what appetizer I wanted so I tried the sampler which has Spinach Artichoke dip. Buffalo Spring Rolls and Bayou Broccoli. All of these items were ok, nothing to right home about but good just the same. But my main entree was delish!! I wanted the Crabcakes and Shrimp Alfredo but because I wasn't trying to eat completely horribly I wanted the seafood over vegetables instead of pasta. To my delight they were more than willing to accommodate my request and it was awesome when I tried it. Every bit of it was finger-licking good. And let me not forget to recognize the excellent service I received. Very attentive staff. Didn't have to even think about needing something because they were right there taking care of it before i could even ask. I would def recommend this restaurant.

Tried Copeland's for the first time recently and I have to say it was better than I expected. We started with the crawfish bread.. what's not to like about bread smothered in spinach artichoke, Alfredo, and crawfish? Good portion. Boyfriend had the jambalaya, which was the only thing that didn't impress me. The sauce had good flavor but I've had much better many times elsewhere. I had to try red beans and rice because its my hands-down favorite Cajun dish. It didn't disappoint, but the serving was a little small.. I was hoping to have leftovers! We finished with the white chocolate bread pudding and I will definitely be back for that dish! YUM! Overall a good atmosphere with decent food for the price.

AYCE Sunday brunch. Need I say more? Ok, let me explicate. For 20$, you get all you can eat brunch, which includes, beef brisket, fried chickens, turkey, shrimp, etc, in addition to the uzsh breakfast items. Add 8$ and it's all you can drink mimosas. This place was poppin on Sunday. Holla! Don't be a noob like me and go bizarko over the scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy. That stuff is child's play. Walk towards the back and there's beef, turkey, ham, and other goodness like fried catfish. THEN, only then, should you go back for the shrimp, chicken wings, cajun rice, etc. Afterwards, you should go back for more catfish if your plate permits. The meats were actually a bit dry, but it didn't rain on my parade too much. There is also an omelet stand, where you can get custom-made omelets. As for sweets, I really enjoyed the bread pudding, it was nice and warm and actually not too heavy. They also have a waffles station, french toast, and bananas foster. Copeland's also has items such as marshmellow and pineapple to dip in the chocolate fondue. There's also an assortment of melons near the biscuits. The food was above average for buffet. I'd say this was worth the 20$ because this girl can eat. The place was very busy so the service was decent, but understandably so.

We decided to try this restaurant after the advice of some folks and it was pretty decent. The ambiance was straight out of New Orleans. Our waitress was pleasant, nothing to remember but she was efficient. I wasn't too hungry and I'm not a huge fan of Cajun food so I had a Grilled Chicken Cesar Salad and my husband had the Jambalaya Pasta. We both enjoyed our food. My portion was huge, my husband thought his could've been bigger but in the end he was satisfied. The best thing we ordered was our drinks, we both ordered the Mardi Gras Punch, it was nice and sweet with just the right amount of alcohol. I wouldn't necessarily come here again but that's only because I'm not a fan of Cajun food but if this is your type of food, I would definitely recommend you come here.

Copeland's, a New Orleans gem tucked away in Jacksonville Florida. A first time visit thanks to fellow Yelpers! Upon entry you are greeted to a relaxed ambience of dark wood, wide isles, comfortable booths, and music which includes Jazz . For late lunch I decided on the Jambalaya. Your palate is initially hit with savory richness, a hint of smoky from the sausages, as well as the perfect amount of Creole kick chasing towards the back end of the ride. To accompany this dish is a buttery flaky biscuit, a great welcome to break to this rich dish. The portion so ample I would consider this a dinner! Dessert: Bananas Foster! I'm no expert on this but have seen a few travel shows highlighting this dessert. A welcomed find here in JAX! Ok, I chose the traditional Vanilla ice cream over their Creole cheesecake. The huge bowl comes with two large scoops in the center of this swimming pool. Floating in the liquid of goodness are of course the bananas! All intertwined with liquid savory flavors of Butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, hints of dark rum, and the vanilla ice cream as it melts and further enriches this dish! But wait, the surprise is when you dig deeper to scoop up that happy syrupiness. Caution though! The richness was too much to down it all. Everything was great! Been here twice so far, first time I order a veal dish and It was really good, this time I ordered a ribbye and I'm a little disappointed. Steak was juicy and cook to temp but the only seasoning i tasted was pepper. The plate it came on was sizzling hot and shattered before I could cut into it. All the sauce was lost in the cloth napkin which is a shame. I really don't understand a good steak being served on a sizzling plate since it will cook the steak beyond preferred temp and you should never cut into a steak with out letting it rest first. Definitely would not suggest paying that price for a "so so" spicy but bland steak. I will say this place has a very large and unique menu which I would like to try more

I haven't been here for dinner in years, and while I really enjoy New Orleans cuisine Copelands just wasn't grabbing me at dinner time. Yes, I've been for lunch and brunch a couple of times, and the food was pretty good. But tonight, I went with a group from work and was impressed. We started with the Crab Stuffed Beignets and the Buffalo Spring Rolls. The spring rolls definitely give you the taste of buffalo chicken, but the beignets were excellent - crab cake filling in tempura batter and fried, with a remoulade sauce. Nice. Instead of my usual Red Beans & Rice, I ordered the Grilled Salmon Cobb Salad. The salmon was cooked perfectly, lightly seasoned, crisp and buttery on the outside and soft inside. Along with a full plate of Cobb, it was a complete meal. The house dressing is a balsamic which was very good, although they put a little too much dressing on - and when I got down closer to the plate it was starting to get over-powering. But overall, I was surprised at the execution and quality. Copelands can get ridiculously busy at peak times - which is when I have dined here before - and that tends to degrade quality with all the pressure on the staff to keep it moving. So coming in on a rainy weekday evening may be one of the keys to getting their best performance. The place wasn't crowded at all. I would definitely stay away on weekends when there are just too many people in the place.

I've come to the conclusion that the food at Copelands is good, maybe even great. The crab cake and shrimp alfredo is ridiculously amazing, and they have a wine that I never get the name of that pairs lovely with it! Its the service thats either a hit or miss. The last two times I've come here I've been pleasantly surprised but if I would have based my review on my first experience here there would've been far less stars. The lunch menu, portions, prices are great and even with the lunch "crowd" we were sat fairly quickly. All in all I like Copelands!

They were not that busy, but service was not great I think due to lack of sufficient personnel. I was never ask if I wanted a refill. Three stars due to: - no ketchup, no mustard, no salt, no pepper on table. - music, country music played all the time. The restaurant theme is New Orleans, say Mardi Gras. - lemonade, I noticed this kind of honey flavor. Did not like it. Lemonade should taste like lemonade, not honey. Hamburger was ok. I would repeat.

My family came to visit me and we love New Orleans styled (cajun) food! The first restaurant that came to mind was Copeland's, so I knew I had to take them there! It has been a VERY long time since I've had Copeland's and it has changed for the better since the last time I was there. We went during lunch and I was pleased with the amount of food given as a lunch portion as well as the prices! THE FOOD: The side salad we had as a starter was pretty filling! It was your typical garden salad with romaine lettuce, tomatoes, croutons, and dressing. Ricochet Catfish: This was my mom's dish and it was on point! It was a lightly fried catfish topped with pecans, sesame, fried onions, and Creole Meuniere sauce! Amazing! To go along with her catfish was mashed sweet potatoes that were divine and corn macque choux which was a creamy concoction of corn, peppers, in some sort creamy deliciousness! The rest of us ordered the following AMAZING dish.... Crabcake & Shrimp Alfredo!!! It came with a meaty crab cake on top of a creamy bed of angel hair pasta and shrimp alfredo sauce. I forgot to mention that all of the meals came with a fluffy biscuit....WHAT WHAT!!!! I love biscuits! LOL! I am looking forward to returning to Copeland's. They have a Sunday's Brunch menu that looks phenomenal! I have to make it there one of these Sundays for beignets and mimosas! If you have never been to Copeland's, go! Their menu is pretty extensive so you're bound to find something you'd enjoy.

Here with my baby Samantha Visiting Jacksonville and came here for the first time and the food was simply amazing. Blackened Bayou Chicken On Point That Mushroom Sauce Was Aarrythang (In My Hood Voice) Samantha Had the Shrimp and Crabcake Alfredo which was made with the right amount of seasoning on the Crabcake. Only advice is if you don't eat pork make sure you ask the waiter if any of the dishes come with pork cause they don't mention that in the description of the entrees but other than that still 5 stars because service and food was that good

Copeland's used to be one of my favorite places to visit for lunch or Sunday brunch. However, I have noticed it's slowly going downhill. As usual, we started with fried bowtie pasta and artichoke dip. This was really good stuff. For the main course, I ordered the seafood platter (oysters, fish, shrimp and crawfish tails) and my daughter ordered the crab cake over linguini. It was just not good. My seafood was left in the fryer too long and lacked flavor. My daughter had the same complaint about her meal. Our waiter was so busy getting upset with the hostess for sitting people in his section, we were pretty much ignored during our stay. So I was only able to enjoy one Poinsetta. Seriously?! I will not be returning anytime soon.

Once upon a time, a few years ago, I went to Copeland's to celebrate my birthday. We were seated in the bar area and had a completely off evening. Service wasn't up to par, the food timing was so very off that appetizers came out just minutes before the entree. Our waitress wasn't attentive and did nothing to help the situation. I was not impressed and stayed away for a long time. I decided to try again after a day of shopping left me wanting a comfy restaurant and some soup. I love a good crab & corn chowder and Copeland's makes a good version. We arrived in the early afternoon on a Sunday - apparently just after the brunch service ended. The host said she just triple sat a section so we were told to wait a few minutes. Then we were placed in the bar area. Bad choice. We were the only people there and the crew was still breaking down from brunch. We ordered two bowls of soup and an entree. My mom's bowl came out first after 15 or so minutes. At 25 minutes or so, my soup (my entree) came out. Our waiter saw I had food and no sandwich and checked. He told us my soup should not have come out because the sandwich wasn't ready. The sandwich came out 5 or so minutes later. During lunch, workers were peeling up tape from extensions cords being taped down, relaxing high tops and chairs, laughing and joking around pretty loudly. Frankly, we felt like an intrusion. The soup was good, the sandwich was enjoyed. Our waiter was the bartender and he was good. He was attentive, followed up on the kitchen's timing mistake and apologized for his co-workers being loud and goofing off. Once we were done eating, we just wanted our check so we could go and leave an awkward dining experience. Even if it meant waiting a few minutes, we never should have been seated in the bar area when it wasn't fully ready yet. I honestly don't know if I'll be back again because I have low expectations for what kind of service I'll end up with.

We arrived around lunchtime and were seated in under 30 minutes - pretty good considering the crowd. So here's the highlights: visit the waffle station, the Belgian waffles are excellent and great with fresh fruit or the syrup with bananas. The shrimp and fried catfish were seasoned well - grilled veggies were a plus and our waitress (Kayla) was excellent. Hubby also recommended the cheese grits and Jazzy wings. The downside: the desert station was a let-down - both bread puddings were undercooked and had to be returned to the kitchen (hence the other 1/2 waffle for desert). You can skip the Mac and cheese - the beignets and French toast were stale. Overall I'd likely return for brunch, but RCBC remains my #1 spot for brunch. :)

I give it 3 stars because the service was great, the location was great and our server was awesome. We ordered als Cajun popcorn shrimp and spicy crawfish cheese fries . The loaded fries were delicious it had crawfish, pimento cheese, mozzarella cheese, green onions, and sauce. The popcorn shrimp had a good flavor but was to salty. For Dinner I had crab cakes with shrimp Alfredo. The crab cakes were seasoned well and had bits of onions and fresh thyme. The other meal at the table was crab stuffed catfish bordelaise. There is somethings on the menu that are amazing and prepared great and others could use some attention. Ask the waiter what they recommend. Sunday brunch is great and even for $30 you get your moneys worth. The mimosas are great and bottomless for $10. Compared to other Sunday Bruches this is about $3-4 more and taste pretty munch the same. If you are looking for something different then definitely try Copelands.

The waiter we have is really nice but talks super low so hard to hear could not tell what she was saying . Not trying to be mean but talk louder so every one can hear you. The food is spicy not to bad but could be hot for some people... and over all it took N hour to get are food and the bad thing is people who came when after we did got there food be for we did and left. So the waiting time here on a Saturday is crazy but Don't be surprised for the long wait. But the food was alright . There no need to have us wait so long got there at 7:15 it's now 9:24 and we are heading home. It was so loud could not hear the date at my table. A most surprising culinary gem in Jacksonville. We went here with my in-laws, who have ate at the New Orleans original. The decor was simple, a little dated, but comfortable. I ordered the hurricane drink and it was almost as authentic as in NOLA, according to them. We ordered an onion blossom, sautéed crab claws and gumbo for appetizer. All were delicious and seasoned properly. My husband asked for one biscuit to sample and our server was forthright in bringing whole platter of fluffy hot buttery biscuits! He also brought us refills of our hand squeezed lemonades "on his tab." Our entrees ranged from blackened redfish, seafood platter, filet mignon, crawfish pasta and red beans and rice with fried catfish. The portions were large and beautifully plated. All the food was sizzling hot and flavorful. We had just went to a well known steak place the week earlier for our anniversary, but we all agreed Copeland's was even a little more satisfying, with impeccable service and quality. Don't forget to order the bananas foster, homemade cheesecake w/pecan crust or homespun ice cream for dessert!

The food is excellent I always get the tomato basil chicken. My husband gets the blacken redfish. We particularly enjoyed this visit because our server, Chris, was so accommodating. The Chef came out to talk to me about my food allergy. He made some garlic toast to go with my spinach artichoke dip because I couldn't eat the fried bow tie pasta. I can't rave enough about how hospitable the staff was! If you like Cajun/Creole food, you should try this place.

There we were, Sunday morning had slipped away and the day was tripping into afternoon and we decided a sit-down meal was in order. After several false-starts, we decided on Copeland's. I am a huge fan of classic southern cooking and Nawlin's and I have become great friends over the years so, I admit, I was a it dubious as to how I would enjoy the experience and food. Let's start with the appetizer. We had the Broccoli selection, which sounded good and tasted even better. Minced broccoli with cheese and bacon in a tart-ish sauce with a hing of sweetness and a touch of heat? Dear God, they were delicious. Next, there was the sandwiches. The grilled cheese, which included bacon as well, came with a side of mac & cheese, with more bacon, and was incredible. My roast beef Po-Boy was spectacular, even if they did put mayo on it rather than mustard, as requested. Seriously, the sandwich's were excellent and my fries? Wonderful. Cooked well with enough seasoning to give them a delightful savory taste all for a pretty damn good price. And then there us the service. Good, prompt, attentive, and friendly. Bad service can make the best meal a chore and good service can make an adequate meal spectacular. But when you have great food and great service? Well, that's the reason you go out to eat rather than just picking something up. The place was fairly busy when we were there, but I never felt rushed or ignored so I highly recommend the establishment.

It has been my mission to find the best New Orleans food in central Florida. Copelands is one of the best I've hit so far. I tried several things on the menu on the first visit. Crawfish cheese fries, crab stuffed catfish roulade, crawfish bread, jambalaya pasta and the Mardi Gras king cake cheesecake were all phenomenal! The crawfish bread was the best of them all though I think. It was a very hard decision of what to order because so many things looked so good. I'll have to make many trips back here even if I do have to drive and hour n a half to eat this food. Can't wait to try the BBQ shrimp boil and Cajun crawfish pasta!

I gave copelands 4 stars because the food is amazing. The prices are a little high but the portions are huge. I had the chicken eggplant Parmesan and my boyfriend had the roast duck, both dishes were cooked to perfection. The only issue we had was the service. The server was nice but our food took forever to come out and our food did not come out at the same time. He forgot my boyfriends baked potato and we had to get it to go. For the price we paid, we expected better service. Also, you have to order an appetizer because they do not offer bread and the food takes forever. We would go back because of the food but we will probably get it to go next time.

My husband and I were going out for dinner with some friends and their children. We've never been to Copelands so we all decided to go there. The service was terrible. After ordering drinks, the waitress did not return until about 7 minutes later. Came back with 3 out of 5 drinks. Then left and didn't come back for another 10 minutes. Brought one drink (which was probably sitting at the bar because it was already watered down. Couldn't even taste the alcohol) but we were still missing the other one. We were all wondering what was going on. She finally came back with the appetizers and FINALLY brought my friend her drink. We were already off to a bad start. We ordered our food. Waited some more. Then they started to bring the food out one by one. All the adults had gotten the food but we were still waiting on the food for the kids. What restaurant brings the kids food out last? Finally the kids get their food. As we all start eating, we each start commenting on how bad the food is. I ordered the red beans and rice. At first I liked it but I think it was because I'm pregnant and I was sooo hungry. Then I just hated it. My husbands food was ok. Everyone else didn't like their food either. One of our friends ordered a baked potato and it was completely burned at the bottom. The other friend ordered a side of mac'n cheese but it looked like it was macaroni pasta in soup. My other friend had ordered pasta and it was super over cooked. This was our first and last time eating here. We did not enjoy it at all. So bad we didn't even tip. ***I ended throwing up that red beans and rice. Disgusting.

This place is absolute garbage!! Just went there for my buddies birthday and had a terrible time. Had a reservation for 9 o'clock and didn't get our table till almost 10. They cramed our group of 11 in the bar area with seating for 8. Ordered a long island and I'm pretty sure I just drank straight sour mix with a splash of coke after waiting for 30 mins for it. The food was discussing. Not to mention I've had better service from McDonalds on 103rd st . They even lost the birthday cake we asked them to put in the freezer. Then when it came down to the checks the guy we had couldn't even figure out how to charge two checks on one card. This much stupid shouldn't be allowed in one place.

10/25/2013 Made reservations for 12 for a Birthday/Graduation get together for 7pm. Arrived 6:45pm waited for the table until 7:40 then had to push the tables together so we could sit together. So ordered drinks and the mixed drinks took over 30 minutes to get because the waitress forgot them. Got apps and they were not consistent meaning the same apps were prepared differently? So as the night progressed more problems and inconsistency's waitress kept disappearing and for 12 people and we had only one waitress. Service and food has much to be desired. Manager gave us a 4.00 off for their Brunch Buffett as an apology, I hate Buffett's so gave them away, needless to say I will not be back.

5 stars for food.... 3 stars for ambience.... Granted we ate here at 8 o'clock on a Friday night, but the environment was noisy & very crowded. The servers & hostesses seemed stressed & somewhat disorganized. We ended up waiting 35-40 min for a table for 2. The food, though, was delicious. We started with crab stuffed mushrooms, which were a little pricey (5 small mushrooms for $9?) , but were hot & rich!.I had the blackened chicken with a side salad & loaded mac n cheese. This was some of the BEST mac & cheese I have ever had, complete with diced ham, green onions & a creamy/smokey sauce. All entrees come with a sweet buttery homemade biscuit, too. Would recommend but maybe on a week night.

We went for lunch. There were five of us. It was not busy. Our waitress had 3 tables ours included. Two of them were 2 tops. It was about 10 minutes before we even saw our waitress. We were ready to order but she sped off with our drink orders before we could tell her. We finally managed to order and it took about 25-30 minutes to get our food. The only time we saw our waitress in that waiting period was when she ran by without saying anything to take a drink to be refilled. All the while, without saying a word. She finally reappeared with our food. We could all tell it had be sitting under heat lamps due to the fact everything was just warm and not close to hot. I'm giving 2 stars because the food was good. The service was absolute crap. To charge $11 for a meal and have to wait roughly 45 min for food is ridiculous. The waitress never came by to ask how our food was. We asked for our checks right after we got our food. Let me stress this again, it was dead. Not even close to busy. Everyone at the table had been to Copeland's many times before and had never experienced anything like that. I, personally, am not going back. The other 4 people might.

I sat at the bar, I was eating solo, and was hoping to spark some conversation with the bartenders. They weren't busy but they also weren't very talkative. :/ I ordered the shrimp Orleans. The shrimp was cooked well and I loved the texture and creaminess of the rice. However, there was way too much spice and even more pepper on top of that. Don't get me wrong, I love spicy food and I know it's intended to be hot but I couldn't finish the plate because of the amount of heat. There was way too much pepper added, I'm not sure if that was a one time thing. I will probably give copelands a second chance, I just hope it adds up.

Went for the Saturday brunch. This was the first time they did it on Saturday, you could tell they were trying to work out some of the kinks, but they were not big things. It isn't as big as their Sunday brunch, but it was still great. The only thing I would suggest is that they space the stations farther apart so there isn't as much congestion around the food. The staff is still as nice as ever. I hope they are able to work out the kinks and keep it going because I think it could be as successful as the Sunday brunch

I wouldn't consider myself a connoisseur of Creole food by any means...I just know what I like. I like Copeland's A LOT! I have a couple of fav's here: -Al's Cajun Popcorn Crawfish - Lightly battered Cajun-spiced mudbugs! YUMMY!! -Eggplant Pirogue - Thick cut eggplant lightly fried with this crazy delish cream sauce. It comes dotted with little crab claws. -Andouille Sausage, Red Beans and Rice-Copeland's does this classic dish right! The Andouille they use if not too spicy and the beans are the perfect texture. There is magic in the handmade biscuits here as well. I don't know what Copeland's does to make them so buttery, but I would love to have that recipe!!!! I have gotten pretty good service here even when it has been slammed which is always a good indicator of a smoothly running machine, and the food here is just really, really delicious. If you stay in the classic fare the prices aren't too bad, but when you get into the specialty aged meat menu, dinner for two will cost about $30.00 per person. This is a really great date night hot spot!

I have been to Copeland's several times and every time was simply wonderful. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. That is important to me. The place was spotless and I liked the decor. As far as the food is concerned, it has ALWAYS been wonderful. We all enjoyed the different dishes. They were tasty and properly spiced. Oh, one last thing, the noise level was quite low. I really loved the fact that I could actually hear what the people in my dinner party were saying!! This place has become my go-to restaurant. I look forward to the next time I go there.

Copeland's serves New Orleans "style" cuisine where you can order Jambalaya, Étouffée, and many items that contain Andouille Sausage. True to the The Big Easy theme, this place has a sizeable bar with a reasonable selection of spirits. The bartender was pleasant, but served me the wrong drink, (Dewars, a blended Scotch, instead of the single malt Glenmorangie that I ordered) which she quickly replaced upon learning of the mistake and apologized. At the table, we had an excellent waiter who knew the menu very well, knew the specials of the day and, when prompted, made some good recommendations. The waiter also let me know that I could add more or subtract from any of the menu items and that many customers come in and can order an almost custom meal. It is rare to find such flexibility in a menu. At the recommendation of the waiter, I ordered the Jambalaya over bow tie pasta, with blackened chicken and Andouille Sausage. Although I am used to Jambalaya served over red beans and rice, this Jambalaya over pasta was delicious. Nice and spicy, and the bow ties held the sauce well. However, it was a little light on chicken and sausage, otherwise it was perfect. I would come back here, however would make sure to try one of the Po'Boys that I saw on the way out.

I CANCELLED my reservation at Gigi's to taste some Cajun turkey this year, only to be stuffed into their front lobby with at least a hundred other people. We had buffalo chicken spring rolls(delicious), mardi gras punch(good), sweet tea(really good), blackened catfish plate, baked potato, broccoli(all sooo great), crab cake and shrimp pasta (good), turtle cheesecakes(yummy), and praline cheesecake cake(yummy). Always consistent. We noticed the menu changed a little, but we have the dame thing usually. The Bowtie pasta and spinach dip is great. Hubby has the jazzy wings and yummy!!!! One of those places where the food is so good, but the service is hit or miss. Food highlights include the chicken parm (one of the best you will find anywhere), the penthouse salad, Bon Temps burger, and the bananas foster with vanilla ice cream (a premier dessert!). The service can range from great to slow to incompetent. This frustration causes us to only come once every couple months instead of once a week like we did 7-8 years ago.

We enjoyed our experience at Copelands. I had the jambalaya and my wife had the eggplant. Both were very good. I was curious as to why they didn't have shrimp and grits. Food were is good. Couldn't decide what appetizer I wanted so I tried the sampler which has Spinach Artichoke dip. Buffalo Spring Rolls and Bayou Broccoli. All of these items were ok, nothing to right home about but good just the same. But my main entree was delish!! I wanted the Crabcakes and Shrimp Alfredo but because I wasn't trying to eat completely horribly I wanted the seafood over vegetables instead of pasta. To my delight they were more than willing to accommodate my request and it was awesome when I tried it. Every bit of it was finger-licking good. And let me not forget to recognize the excellent service I received. Very attentive staff. Didn't have to even think about needing something because they were right there taking care of it before i could even ask. I would def recommend this restaurant.

Tried Copeland's for the first time recently and I have to say it was better than I expected. We started with the crawfish bread.. what's not to like about bread smothered in spinach artichoke, Alfredo, and crawfish? Good portion. Boyfriend had the jambalaya, which was the only thing that didn't impress me. The sauce had good flavor but I've had much better many times elsewhere. I had to try red beans and rice because its my hands-down favorite Cajun dish. It didn't disappoint, but the serving was a little small.. I was hoping to have leftovers! We finished with the white chocolate bread pudding and I will definitely be back for that dish! YUM! Overall a good atmosphere with decent food for the price.

AYCE Sunday brunch. Need I say more? Ok, let me explicate. For 20$, you get all you can eat brunch, which includes, beef brisket, fried chickens, turkey, shrimp, etc, in addition to the uzsh breakfast items. Add 8$ and it's all you can drink mimosas. This place was poppin on Sunday. Holla! Don't be a noob like me and go bizarko over the scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy. That stuff is child's play. Walk towards the back and there's beef, turkey, ham, and other goodness like fried catfish. THEN, only then, should you go back for the shrimp, chicken wings, cajun rice, etc. Afterwards, you should go back for more catfish if your plate permits. The meats were actually a bit dry, but it didn't rain on my parade too much. There is also an omelet stand, where you can get custom-made omelets. As for sweets, I really enjoyed the bread pudding, it was nice and warm and actually not too heavy. They also have a waffles station, french toast, and bananas foster. Copeland's also has items such as marshmellow and pineapple to dip in the chocolate fondue. There's also an assortment of melons near the biscuits. The food was above average for buffet. I'd say this was worth the 20$ because this girl can eat. The place was very busy so the service was decent, but understandably so.

The family enjoys coming here for Sunday brunch. There's almost too much to choose from! The New Orleans twist on the menu is a nice change of pace. Favorites from the menu include the fresh fried catfish nuggets, belgian waffles cooked to order, and the chocolate dessert fountain.

I will never go back again. From the agonizing moment we arrived to the pissed off person I was leaving nothing went right. I literally want to make myself throw up everything I ate. The worst service I have ever experienced. I ordered coconut vodka with sprite that took 30 minutes to make because they didn't know how to and when I finally got my drink it was coconut vodka with water. The reason I was there was for a friend's birthday and they lost the cake we asked for them to store in the freezer. This took about 40 minutes for sherlock to find. They gave me and my fiancé 2 separate checks and didn't know how to charge it to one card. They crammed our group of 11 at a table for 8. Our reservation was at 9 pm but we didn't get seated til 9:40pm. I looked up the restaurant inspections and they had critical rodent infestations. Which makes me want to vomit again because their lighting was so bad I couldn't even see what I was consuming. I'm so pissed I even had to pay for overpriced garbage. I hope this place gets shut down and the ppl that work there dear god help us all! BTW I have to rate this place but they don't even deserve one fn star.

First time to a Copeland's in almost 10 years, most have disappeared. Everything was fantastic! We were seated right away, we purposely went before dinner rush. Another waiter took our drinks while the waiter was finishing up another table, that's impressive. When Troy was finished with the bigger table, took our order, answered our questions. Timing was pretty darn close to perfect. We ordered the Tasters Plates, which is awesome, can have a lot of different dishes! We treated it like Tapas...mmmm delish! We will probably return again and ahead of dinner rush for sure!

This place was amazing so happy we decided to go. My husband and I ordered the spinach and artichoke dip. I was very good came with fried bow tie pasta wasn't sure how that was going to be but they were really good the breading on them made them so you could even eat them alone. Would definitely order this again and it was a huge appetizer. Then we both ordered the shrimp po boy and fries. The shrimp had a nice seasoning and the flavors were great. Only issue a little messy if they didn't cut the bread all the way in half may have been easier to eat but would still order again. This was huge as well and lots of shrimp. Would definitely recommend eating here and I know we'll be back.

Here for a group adventure. Since I just returned from NOLA it was a real stretch but a delightful experience . First due to the size of the party (18 ) we were gifted with one of the banquet rooms and our own personal wait person and additional staff to assist. I played it safe and had the tasting portion of the Cobb Salad. It arrived crisp and fresh lightly dressed. Perfect! Entree was the Blackned Salmon ( out of red fish and I will not eat cat fish, go figure) I requested extra spicy and was given just what I'd asked for. Fish was moist and perfectly plated passed on my choice of 2 sides. I remembered ordering the Mac and Cheese one time, after tasting it I was certain someone ran over to CVS and purchased a box of Kraft, except it was not yellow enough. I heard no complaints from any of my dinner companions so one can only assume it was all good. It's a fun place food is fine and the drinks strong. They treated us wonderfully. I always give credit for that. Give it a try.

Sunday Brunch Buffet? Uh, YES PLEASE! There are food stations placed through out the whole restaurant so not one are gets too crowded at once. The Beginning of the buffet line starts with all the usual's, eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits the size of my fist, thick, creamy sausage gravy to go on top. But don't get too excited, because here comes the good stuff. Along with breakfast food, Copeland's lay out a great selection of their staples, Jambalaya, fried catfish, mac n cheese, and even red beans and rice! (BTW, this is not a place you want to go if you have an eventful day planned out, because you won't be any good after you eat all this!) After you get past all the great Cajun food, you are presented with french toast and made to order Belgian Waffles, with various fruits and toppings. And then BEYOND THAT, is the prime rib and carved turkey breast. On the other side of the restaurant is the made to order omelet station where the chef is equipped with a couple pans and an extensive array of omelet ingredients from vegetables to crab. Across from the omelet station is the dessert area. Multiples desserts available but the only thing I can remember is the White Chocolate Bread Pudding. It's so creamy and warm and delicious and oh man.... I'm going back this weekend.... All you can drink Champagne for $3.99 and Mimosa's $6.99, sure, why not? This is a moving, busy, loud restaurant, or at least it is on Sunday mornings. But totally worth the price and time.

I was very skeptical of this place. I've lived in Jax for 4 yrs and it seemed too theme-y. Got dragged there for a friends birthday and have been back multiple times since. I've gotten something different every time and it's always been great. They have light options too. My favorite is the chicken and yams. My husband loves any of their fried seafood. They are open late and I've never had to wait. Be aware the parking lot gets full before the restaurant is full. Park in the Publix lot and walk over. Bar area is first come first serve with drink specials.

The best way to celebrate Greek Easter is: a) Go to a Greek restaurant b) Have your yia yia (grandma in Greek) cook you a traditional Greek meal c) Eat ham d) Go to Copeland's for Sunday brunch If you answered "d", you are correct. I'm sure I could have cooked the traditional ham, but let's face it, I'm not a huge fan of ham and I'd rather choose from breakfast and lunch, instead of being constricted to one menu item. You know my love of eating. When I called to make a reservation at Copeland's on Saturday for Sunday brunch the hostess said that they don't take reservations for brunch and it's on a first come first serve basis. So we opted to get there earlier. Brunch is available from 10 AM - 3 PM. It's a good thing we got there around 11, because after 12 PM it was packed! We were immediately seated and our server was very accommodating. We drink a lot of coffee in my family, and when I mean a lot, I would be conservative by saying between four of us we go through at least one and half pots of coffee during a meal. Our server constantly kept coming around to refill our coffee and water. All five of us (I know I said four of us drink coffee, that's true, one doesn't like coffee. I find that to be weird) ordered the buffet. Plate I: I started with the omelet station. You name it, you could probably get it in your omelet. I opted to get a tomato, bacon, and cheese omelet. The person at the omelet station was quick and pleasant. After getting my omelet, I then went to get some cheesy grits at the buffet. The omelet was cooked great and tasted wonderfully. The cheese grits were rich, creamy, and cheesy. Plate I Winner: Cheese grits Plate II: This plate I wound going back for more grits, then got some brioche French toast, bacon, Brabant potatoes. The brioche French toast was "de" wait for it "licious"! It almost tasted like fried French toast. It was crisp on the outside and soft in the inside. Plate II Winner: Brioche French Toast Plate III: Now it was time for my lunch time plate: Cajun turkey, red beans and rice, mac and cheese, and some beignets. The Cajun turkey was great: moist and spicy. The red beans and rice were great, had just the right amount of heat. The beignets were fantastic and pretty much made to order. Plate III Winner: Beignets Overall Loser: Me. I ate too much. Pros: Variety of items on buffet, service, food was great, price of buffet ($19.99 for adults and $15.99 for seniors) Cons: Not having enough room in my stomach to eat more. Tip: Perhaps Copeland's should invest in some new cook tops for the omelets. There were multiple instances when the frying pan was off centered and I was a little scared that the spatula/omelet was going to catch on fire, considering the flame was coming up onto the pan. If you have a DD, take advantage of their $3.99 all you can drink champagne and/or $6.99 all you can drink mimosas. Get there early. Also, be sure to wear stretchy pants.

I ate here for the first time yesterday. It's not very attractive outside, but rest assured the inside is much nicer. I came for lunch and there was ample parking, but I can't say that would hold true on a busy night for dinner. There was an outdoor seating area with perhaps 8 tables. I sat inside though. The menu had plenty to offer ranging from typical brunch items to your average lunch fare. I had a "Bon Temps Burger" which consisted of 1/2 lbs of meat, jack cheese, and barbecue sauce. I ask for medium, and received a medium cooked burger. I mention this because it's not always guaranteed. The sauce was tangy and delightful. The tea was well sweetened, and never left half empty. I will say that my fries were soggy, which put a big downer on my meal as I love fries. Overall I'd say I'll go here again if asked, but I probably wouldn't come up with the idea myself as it just didn't wow me.

Mediocre is non exsistent here w/ special regards to the "FOOD"!!!! This is a "Must Stop" spot while in, Jacksonville, FL. If you love southern hospitality in white pressed shirts and black bottoms along with, "Nawlins" sustenance then, Copeland's is a no brainer. Hot Crab Claws are a fundamental need for starters. My favorite dish, that by process of elimination I wind up ordering. The other dishes although deserving and delicious, are of no comparision. The"Catfish Acadiana" hands down is my dish of choice. Then we move into the sinful portion of the meal. The desserts. If a priest is available at the time of your visit, you will need him to accompany you for this portion of the meal alone. Diablo, is in the Signature Cheesecake [3 caramel] and either a blood sugar count or exorcisim will need to take place after consumption of this sinful sweet. The service as well as professionalism is plausible with the very minor exception of a dimwitted hostess [whom will remain nameless] who lacks the same credibility to excellence that the servers maintain. Aside from the temperamental service that greets you, I rate this restaurant as Exceptional. "M ap Manje Bon Manje"

The food was slow to come even though it was not really that busy. The waiter was friendly enough but his service could not cover up the awful food. I ordered fetuccini with shrimp and was only able to eat the shrimp. The pasta was literally in a pool of buttery liquid. The waiter was very apologetic and the manager compted us a giant piece of chocolate fudge cake.. I would have preferred a good meal and not to have to lug home a 2 pound slice of cake that I did not want anyway. Skip this restaurant as its overpriced for the quality of the food you get.

In Jax, your good food choices are very limited. Go to Bonefish or even Longhorns, the fish at these 2 places were similarly priced and much better. -1 star because service was excellent, told her we had coupons at the beginning and split check and she still went above and beyond. -1 star food, because yeah, um, typical oily chain restaurant food. My salmon was overcooked rubbery and greasier than greasy, it was blackened and still had no flavor and it was $20. The beans were excellent. The sweet potatoes were good but had about a pound of sugar, a bit too heavy on the sugar. The other fish entrees, redfish and catfish were ok, but heavy on the grease. Corn/crab chowder was decent, the cornbread that came on top of the chowder was really tasty and so was the biscuit that came with my fish. The artichoke dip was tasty, kind of hard to mess that up. -1 star because we had a 50 percent coupon, had I been rating this based on regular prices, even with the excellent service it would have gotten a Jax 2 star rating. I'm being very generous with a 3 star rating. If I was in LA, this would've gotten a 1. I took about 2 bites of everything and gobbled up the beans because those really were good, boxed everything else. I would not go back. I'm a bit spoiled, I grew up on whole fresh foods, my mom is an amazing cook, I worked in some of the best restaurants in LA and I've eaten at some of the best restaurants around the world. And by best I don't mean most expensive, excellent food is excellent food, no matter the price point.

My mother and I were meeting 3 ladies I had worked with when I lived here 96-00. Figured it was close to where we were staying and for them. Our waiter who was from Minnesota originally, was very attentive and helpful. He knew his menu and had several suggestions. My mother took his suggestion for the hot crab claws appetizer for her main dish. I had gumbo and 1/2 shrimp & 1/2 crawfish etouffee. When the server brought my mother's crab claws, it was NOT at all like what was in the photo. You could barely see any crab claws, but you could see a round of garlic toast. She expressed her disappointment and they offered to get her something else. So she tried my etouffee, which was pretty tasty and ordered the small plate version. The other ladies had a fish special and 2 orders of the small plate of shrimp Orleans. Everyone had a good time as we didn't have to worry about trying to find the waiter and were left alone to talk. Overall, this is definitely a chain shop, but our waiter was the best. One suggestion is that the actual food that's delivered needs to match the pictures. As they say a picture is worth a thousand words.

I dined at Copeland's last night while on business in Jacksonville. I ordered Shrimp Scampi, which was good, but not great. We shared an appetizer plate with some type of fried bow tie shaped cracker? not bad with the spinach artichoke dip. There was also some kind of fried cheese ball with crab maybe, very good. One of us had the stuffed shrimp, which came with a salad (if he remembered correctly). The 5 shrimp, sitting alone on a large plate, looked kind of meager, but he said they were good. My companions said the bread pudding was very good. I was excited to see Banana's Foster on the dessert menu, but disappointed that it was not flambeed tableside (I don't think it was flambeed at all). I wasn't happy to see the 18% gratuity tacked on for our table of 5. Our total bill averaged $47 per person and we shared one appetizer and two desserts and only had one drink apiece. I expect better food in that price range.

Everything I have eaten here has been really good. My brother the burger connaisseur says their burger that comes on a croissant is one of the best he has ever had. I enjoy their salads, although their menu is so extensive I find it hard to believe that anyone couldn't find something they would like. The service has been excellent and they have a good bar menu... including the New Orleans favorite Hurricane, which is delicious. They have a great Sunday brunch. Lastly, if you feel like splurging... (waistline, not wallet) try the Big Als Chocolate cake... I'm not the typical chocoholic female, but that cake is amazing.

I had dinner here by accident, i.e.; someone asked to meet me there for dinner. I pass it almost every day, but stereotyped it as a Cajun food chain, but did notice it's parking lot is always full. Anyway I generally do not like Cajun food, but I must say I had craw fish & linguine in what tasted, and looked like a Bolognese sauce & I rate that dish a 9.875! Anyway I have gone back four times since, and experimented with their menu on the conservative side, and have found the food to all be very good, decent service, bar is just OK, parking is very tight so if you don't want your car dinged, take a cab, or park in Publix in the rear somewhere.

It was busy but they were able to accomodate our big party right away. The server was very attentive - a bit flamboyant, but funny. I ordered the angel hair pasta with shrimp and crab cakes in alfredo sauce and it was deeeelicious. Everyone else in our group enjoyed their food as well. I even heard one of them say that if there was a God of all hamburgers, Copeland's hamburger would be it! That's a huge compliment coming from someone who lives in California where there are a ton of great burger joints. The calamari was very tasty. The only item that I didn't enjoy so much was the Onion-Mum, similar to Chili's awesome blossom. The onion was not cooked well so it was quite strong. All else was wonderful and oh how i love dining in the south where every place served sweet tea, my favorite!

I have eaten here more that 10 times from dinner and twice for brunch. I can't get over how good their biscuits are. Try them with butter and Crystals hot sauce. The omelets for brunch have 6 eggs each, be careful when ordering. Yeah I said it 6 freaking eggs. Deep fried french toast was good the first time, second time too much oil.

I've been to this place twice now and I'd like to give a 3.5, but I can't. So I guess it's a 3 instead. I know lot's of folks love this mini-Orleans based chain, but I can't share their Big Easy enthusiasm. The first time I had the Shrimp Ducky over rice. It was pretty good and for $15.00 was a lot of food. Basically, it's this semi-spicy brown sauce with tiny pieces of duck and lots of shrimp. It's got decent flavor and went well with my beer. This latest time I went with some co-workers. One of them used to work at a Copeland's in Louisiana and really liked it so we went. I started with the Chop Salad. Now, I compare all Chop Salads to the one at Smith and Wollensky's. The iceberg lettuce should be cold, crisp and fresh. To make this happen, you have to prepare the salad just before serving. The other ingrediant should provide the flavor and texture. Alas, this was not the case at Copeland's. The lettuce was soft, and warm. The dressing lacked pop. There was not enough cheese. The bacon was non-existent. Overall, poorly done. For my entree I had the Pasta Shrimp Copeland for $13.99. It present's on a large white platter, toppped with angel hair pasta. The angel hair was not al dente, but not too mushy. The sauce is butter, garlic, a little basil, a lot of small shrimp and more butter. No parmesean was offered. Tasty, but nothing unique. I could make this at home in 10 minutes. It was not a bad experience, but I wouldn't choose to go back there if I had a choice. Got some free beads though.

Had a couple of friends visit from L.A. wanting to try some southern food for brunch. For a festive restaurant, you would think that the staff would be more.... "festive" but it seems the restaurant hired them straight from the mortuary (granted this is the day after a Saturday night of partying). Other than the "dead" service, the shrimp po-boy was light and not too oily. For those that are use to the New Orleans style po-boys, the bread was a bit soft and had less than expected amount of shrimp. The french toast description should be changed to gently fried to generously fried but it was true to southern cooking (maybe something to eat before starting the night life?) The corn & crab bisque was decent but I wasn't able to see the lumps of crab meat they put in the description. However, the filet benedict stole the show. The filet mignon was cooked to perfection with its mushroom sauce and poached egg with bearnaise sauce. The meal was slightly overpriced but there are a couple of gems that may make another trip worth while.

First off, it's been a while since I've been to Copeland's (about three years), but when I went, I found the experience enjoyable. Judging by the fact that the parking lot is still full at peak times after what I think is about 6 years of operation at its current location, most people agree. It's one of the few restaurants in the area that actually has valet parking (which I find frivolous at a small chain restaurant where the average meal is between $25 and $50 after tip, but to each their own). I only gave it four stars for a couple of reasons. While the food is excellent, New Orleans-style cuisine, I have trouble justifying the price. Also, the way the streets are structured in that area, the restaurant can be a little difficult to get to, especially if one hasn't been there before (I know that's the city's fault, but it's worth taking into account); aside from that, the location is superb. The wait staff is generally friendly and the meal is well-paced for that type of environment. It is not a restaurant where one spends more than an hour (about the pace of something like a Carrabba's or Outback). Usually, people eating there are catching a movie across the street. If you do eat there at peak times, plan on waiting a while for a table. It stays busy. I'd definitely recommend it, especially if you're in the mood for something a little different than the steak/burger and fries.

We decided to try this restaurant after the advice of some folks and it was pretty decent. The ambiance was straight out of New Orleans. Our waitress was pleasant, nothing to remember but she was efficient. I wasn't too hungry and I'm not a huge fan of Cajun food so I had a Grilled Chicken Cesar Salad and my husband had the Jambalaya Pasta. We both enjoyed our food. My portion was huge, my husband thought his could've been bigger but in the end he was satisfied. The best thing we ordered was our drinks, we both ordered the Mardi Gras Punch, it was nice and sweet with just the right amount of alcohol. I wouldn't necessarily come here again but that's only because I'm not a fan of Cajun food but if this is your type of food, I would definitely recommend you come here.

Copeland's, a New Orleans gem tucked away in Jacksonville Florida. A first time visit thanks to fellow Yelpers! Upon entry you are greeted to a relaxed ambience of dark wood, wide isles, comfortable booths, and music which includes Jazz . For late lunch I decided on the Jambalaya. Your palate is initially hit with savory richness, a hint of smoky from the sausages, as well as the perfect amount of Creole kick chasing towards the back end of the ride. To accompany this dish is a buttery flaky biscuit, a great welcome to break to this rich dish. The portion so ample I would consider this a dinner! Dessert: Bananas Foster! I'm no expert on this but have seen a few travel shows highlighting this dessert. A welcomed find here in JAX! Ok, I chose the traditional Vanilla ice cream over their Creole cheesecake. The huge bowl comes with two large scoops in the center of this swimming pool. Floating in the liquid of goodness are of course the bananas! All intertwined with liquid savory flavors of Butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, hints of dark rum, and the vanilla ice cream as it melts and further enriches this dish! But wait, the surprise is when you dig deeper to scoop up that happy syrupiness. Caution though! The richness was too much to down it all. Everything was great! Professional and knowledgeable staff, and for the above review I give this 5 stars. Reservations: Everyday except Saturdays. Sunday Brunch until 10

Been here twice so far, first time I order a veal dish and It was really good, this time I ordered a ribbye and I'm a little disappointed. Steak was juicy and cook to temp but the only seasoning i tasted was pepper. The plate it came on was sizzling hot and shattered before I could cut into it. All the sauce was lost in the cloth napkin which is a shame. I really don't understand a good steak being served on a sizzling plate since it will cook the steak beyond preferred temp and you should never cut into a steak with out letting it rest first. Definitely would not suggest paying that price for a "so so" spicy but bland steak. I will say this place has a very large and unique menu which I would like to try more

I haven't been here for dinner in years, and while I really enjoy New Orleans cuisine Copelands just wasn't grabbing me at dinner time. Yes, I've been for lunch and brunch a couple of times, and the food was pretty good. But tonight, I went with a group from work and was impressed. We started with the Crab Stuffed Beignets and the Buffalo Spring Rolls. The spring rolls definitely give you the taste of buffalo chicken, but the beignets were excellent - crab cake filling in tempura batter and fried, with a remoulade sauce. Nice. Instead of my usual Red Beans & Rice, I ordered the Grilled Salmon Cobb Salad. The salmon was cooked perfectly, lightly seasoned, crisp and buttery on the outside and soft inside. Along with a full plate of Cobb, it was a complete meal. The house dressing is a balsamic which was very good, although they put a little too much dressing on - and when I got down closer to the plate it was starting to get over-powering. But overall, I was surprised at the execution and quality. Copelands can get ridiculously busy at peak times - which is when I have dined here before - and that tends to degrade quality with all the pressure on the staff to keep it moving. So coming in on a rainy weekday evening may be one of the keys to getting their best performance. The place wasn't crowded at all. I would definitely stay away on weekends when there are just too many people in the place.

I've come to the conclusion that the food at Copelands is good, maybe even great. The crab cake and shrimp alfredo is ridiculously amazing, and they have a wine that I never get the name of that pairs lovely with it! Its the service thats either a hit or miss. The last two times I've come here I've been pleasantly surprised but if I would have based my review on my first experience here there would've been far less stars. The lunch menu, portions, prices are great and even with the lunch "crowd" we were sat fairly quickly. All in all I like Copelands!

I will never go back again. From the agonizing moment we arrived to the pissed off person I was leaving nothing went right. I literally want to make myself throw up everything I ate. The worst service I have ever experienced. I ordered coconut vodka with sprite that took 30 minutes to make because they didn't know how to and when I finally got my drink it was coconut vodka with water. The reason I was there was for a friend's birthday and they lost the cake we asked for them to store in the freezer. This took about 40 minutes for sherlock to find. They gave me and my fiancé 2 separate checks and didn't know how to charge it to one card. They crammed our group of 11 at a table for 8. Our reservation was at 9 pm but we didn't get seated til 9:40pm. I looked up the restaurant inspections and they had critical rodent infestations. Which makes me want to vomit again because their lighting was so bad I couldn't even see what I was consuming. I'm so pissed I even had to pay for overpriced garbage. I hope this place gets shut down and the ppl that work there dear god help us all! BTW I have to rate this place but they don't even deserve one fn star.

First time to a Copeland's in almost 10 years, most have disappeared. Everything was fantastic! We were seated right away, we purposely went before dinner rush. Another waiter took our drinks while the waiter was finishing up another table, that's impressive. When Troy was finished with the bigger table, took our order, answered our questions. Timing was pretty darn close to perfect. We ordered the Tasters Plates, which is awesome, can have a lot of different dishes! We treated it like Tapas...mmmm delish! We will probably return again and ahead of dinner rush for sure!

This place was amazing so happy we decided to go. My husband and I ordered the spinach and artichoke dip. I was very good came with fried bow tie pasta wasn't sure how that was going to be but they were really good the breading on them made them so you could even eat them alone. Would definitely order this again and it was a huge appetizer. Then we both ordered the shrimp po boy and fries. The shrimp had a nice seasoning and the flavors were great. Only issue a little messy if they didn't cut the bread all the way in half may have been easier to eat but would still order again. This was huge as well and lots of shrimp. Would definitely recommend eating here and I know we'll be back.

My family came to visit me and we love New Orleans styled (cajun) food! The first restaurant that came to mind was Copeland's, so I knew I had to take them there! It has been a VERY long time since I've had Copeland's and it has changed for the better since the last time I was there. We went during lunch and I was pleased with the amount of food given as a lunch portion as well as the prices! THE FOOD: The side salad we had as a starter was pretty filling! It was your typical garden salad with romaine lettuce, tomatoes, croutons, and dressing. Ricochet Catfish: This was my mom's dish and it was on point! It was a lightly fried catfish topped with pecans, sesame, fried onions, and Creole Meuniere sauce! Amazing! To go along with her catfish was mashed sweet potatoes that were divine and corn macque choux which was a creamy concoction of corn, peppers, in some sort creamy deliciousness! The rest of us ordered the following AMAZING dish.... Crabcake & Shrimp Alfredo!!! It came with a meaty crab cake on top of a creamy bed of angel hair pasta and shrimp alfredo sauce. I forgot to mention that all of the meals came with a fluffy biscuit....WHAT WHAT!!!! I love biscuits! LOL! I am looking forward to returning to Copeland's. They have a Sunday's Brunch menu that looks phenomenal! I have to make it there one of these Sundays for beignets and mimosas! If you have never been to Copeland's, go! Their menu is pretty extensive so you're bound to find something you'd enjoy.

Here with my baby Samantha Visiting Jacksonville and came here for the first time and the food was simply amazing. Blackened Bayou Chicken On Point That Mushroom Sauce Was Aarrythang (In My Hood Voice) Samantha Had the Shrimp and Crabcake Alfredo which was made with the right amount of seasoning on the Crabcake. Only advice is if you don't eat pork make sure you ask the waiter if any of the dishes come with pork cause they don't mention that in the description of the entrees but other than that still 5 stars because service and food was that good

The family enjoys coming here for Sunday brunch. There's almost too much to choose from! The New Orleans twist on the menu is a nice change of pace. Favorites from the menu include the fresh fried catfish nuggets, belgian waffles cooked to order, and the chocolate dessert fountain.

Copeland's used to be one of my favorite places to visit for lunch or Sunday brunch. However, I have noticed it's slowly going downhill. As usual, we started with fried bowtie pasta and artichoke dip. This was really good stuff. For the main course, I ordered the seafood platter (oysters, fish, shrimp and crawfish tails) and my daughter ordered the crab cake over linguini. It was just not good. My seafood was left in the fryer too long and lacked flavor. My daughter had the same complaint about her meal. Our waiter was so busy getting upset with the hostess for sitting people in his section, we were pretty much ignored during our stay. So I was only able to enjoy one Poinsetta. Seriously?! I will not be returning anytime soon.

Here for a group adventure. Since I just returned from NOLA it was a real stretch but a delightful experience . First due to the size of the party (18 ) we were gifted with one of the banquet rooms and our own personal wait person and additional staff to assist. I played it safe and had the tasting portion of the Cobb Salad. It arrived crisp and fresh lightly dressed. Perfect! Entree was the Blackned Salmon ( out of red fish and I will not eat cat fish, go figure) I requested extra spicy and was given just what I'd asked for. Fish was moist and perfectly plated passed on my choice of 2 sides. I remembered ordering the Mac and Cheese one time, after tasting it I was certain someone ran over to CVS and purchased a box of Kraft, except it was not yellow enough. I heard no complaints from any of my dinner companions so one can only assume it was all good. It's a fun place food is fine and the drinks strong. They treated us wonderfully. I always give credit for that. Give it a try.

Sunday Brunch Buffet? Uh, YES PLEASE! There are food stations placed through out the whole restaurant so not one are gets too crowded at once. The Beginning of the buffet line starts with all the usual's, eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits the size of my fist, thick, creamy sausage gravy to go on top. But don't get too excited, because here comes the good stuff. Along with breakfast food, Copeland's lay out a great selection of their staples, Jambalaya, fried catfish, mac n cheese, and even red beans and rice! (BTW, this is not a place you want to go if you have an eventful day planned out, because you won't be any good after you eat all this!) After you get past all the great Cajun food, you are presented with french toast and made to order Belgian Waffles, with various fruits and toppings. And then BEYOND THAT, is the prime rib and carved turkey breast. On the other side of the restaurant is the made to order omelet station where the chef is equipped with a couple pans and an extensive array of omelet ingredients from vegetables to crab. Across from the omelet station is the dessert area. Multiples desserts available but the only thing I can remember is the White Chocolate Bread Pudding. It's so creamy and warm and delicious and oh man.... I'm going back this weekend.... All you can drink Champagne for $3.99 and Mimosa's $6.99, sure, why not? This is a moving, busy, loud restaurant, or at least it is on Sunday mornings. But totally worth the price and time.

The best way to celebrate Greek Easter is: a) Go to a Greek restaurant b) Have your yia yia (grandma in Greek) cook you a traditional Greek meal c) Eat ham d) Go to Copeland's for Sunday brunch If you answered "d", you are correct. I'm sure I could have cooked the traditional ham, but let's face it, I'm not a huge fan of ham and I'd rather choose from breakfast and lunch, instead of being constricted to one menu item. You know my love of eating. When I called to make a reservation at Copeland's on Saturday for Sunday brunch the hostess said that they don't take reservations for brunch and it's on a first come first serve basis. So we opted to get there earlier. Brunch is available from 10 AM - 3 PM. It's a good thing we got there around 11, because after 12 PM it was packed! We were immediately seated and our server was very accommodating. We drink a lot of coffee in my family, and when I mean a lot, I would be conservative by saying between four of us we go through at least one and half pots of coffee during a meal. Our server constantly kept coming around to refill our coffee and water. All five of us (I know I said four of us drink coffee, that's true, one doesn't like coffee. I find that to be weird) ordered the buffet. Plate I: I started with the omelet station. You name it, you could probably get it in your omelet. I opted to get a tomato, bacon, and cheese omelet. The person at the omelet station was quick and pleasant. After getting my omelet, I then went to get some cheesy grits at the buffet. The omelet was cooked great and tasted wonderfully. The cheese grits were rich, creamy, and cheesy. Plate I Winner: Cheese grits Plate II: This plate I wound going back for more grits, then got some brioche French toast, bacon, Brabant potatoes. The brioche French toast was "de" wait for it "licious"! It almost tasted like fried French toast. It was crisp on the outside and soft in the inside. Plate II Winner: Brioche French Toast Plate III: Now it was time for my lunch time plate: Cajun turkey, red beans and rice, mac and cheese, and some beignets. The Cajun turkey was great: moist and spicy. The red beans and rice were great, had just the right amount of heat. The beignets were fantastic and pretty much made to order. Plate III Winner: Beignets Overall Loser: Me. I ate too much. Pros: Variety of items on buffet, service, food was great, price of buffet ($19.99 for adults and $15.99 for seniors) Cons: Not having enough room in my stomach to eat more. Tip: Perhaps Copeland's should invest in some new cook tops for the omelets. There were multiple instances when the frying pan was off centered and I was a little scared that the spatula/omelet was going to catch on fire, considering the flame was coming up onto the pan. If you have a DD, take advantage of their $3.99 all you can drink champagne and/or $6.99 all you can drink mimosas. Get there early. Also, be sure to wear stretchy pants.

I was very skeptical of this place. I've lived in Jax for 4 yrs and it seemed too theme-y. Got dragged there for a friends birthday and have been back multiple times since. I've gotten something different every time and it's always been great. They have light options too. My favorite is the chicken and yams. My husband loves any of their fried seafood. They are open late and I've never had to wait. Be aware the parking lot gets full before the restaurant is full. Park in the Publix lot and walk over. Bar area is first come first serve with drink specials.

Once upon a time, a few years ago, I went to Copeland's to celebrate my birthday. We were seated in the bar area and had a completely off evening. Service wasn't up to par, the food timing was so very off that appetizers came out just minutes before the entree. Our waitress wasn't attentive and did nothing to help the situation. I was not impressed and stayed away for a long time. I decided to try again after a day of shopping left me wanting a comfy restaurant and some soup. I love a good crab & corn chowder and Copeland's makes a good version. We arrived in the early afternoon on a Sunday - apparently just after the brunch service ended. The host said she just triple sat a section so we were told to wait a few minutes. Then we were placed in the bar area. Bad choice. We were the only people there and the crew was still breaking down from brunch. We ordered two bowls of soup and an entree. My mom's bowl came out first after 15 or so minutes. At 25 minutes or so, my soup (my entree) came out. Our waiter saw I had food and no sandwich and checked. He told us my soup should not have come out because the sandwich wasn't ready. The sandwich came out 5 or so minutes later. During lunch, workers were peeling up tape from extensions cords being taped down, relaxing high tops and chairs, laughing and joking around pretty loudly. Frankly, we felt like an intrusion. The soup was good, the sandwich was enjoyed. Our waiter was the bartender and he was good. He was attentive, followed up on the kitchen's timing mistake and apologized for his co-workers being loud and goofing off. Once we were done eating, we just wanted our check so we could go and leave an awkward dining experience. Even if it meant waiting a few minutes, we never should have been seated in the bar area when it wasn't fully ready yet. I honestly don't know if I'll be back again because I have low expectations for what kind of service I'll end up with.

10/25/2013 Made reservations for 12 for a Birthday/Graduation get together for 7pm. Arrived 6:45pm waited for the table until 7:40 then had to push the tables together so we could sit together. So ordered drinks and the mixed drinks took over 30 minutes to get because the waitress forgot them. Got apps and they were not consistent meaning the same apps were prepared differently? So as the night progressed more problems and inconsistency's waitress kept disappearing and for 12 people and we had only one waitress. Service and food has much to be desired. Manager gave us a 4.00 off for their Brunch Buffett as an apology, I hate Buffett's so gave them away, needless to say I will not be back.

5 stars for food.... 3 stars for ambience.... Granted we ate here at 8 o'clock on a Friday night, but the environment was noisy & very crowded. The servers & hostesses seemed stressed & somewhat disorganized. We ended up waiting 35-40 min for a table for 2. The food, though, was delicious. We started with crab stuffed mushrooms, which were a little pricey (5 small mushrooms for $9?) , but were hot & rich!.I had the blackened chicken with a side salad & loaded mac n cheese. This was some of the BEST mac & cheese I have ever had, complete with diced ham, green onions & a creamy/smokey sauce. All entrees come with a sweet buttery homemade biscuit, too. Would recommend but maybe on a week night.

We went for lunch. There were five of us. It was not busy. Our waitress had 3 tables ours included. Two of them were 2 tops. It was about 10 minutes before we even saw our waitress. We were ready to order but she sped off with our drink orders before we could tell her. We finally managed to order and it took about 25-30 minutes to get our food. The only time we saw our waitress in that waiting period was when she ran by without saying anything to take a drink to be refilled. All the while, without saying a word. She finally reappeared with our food. We could all tell it had be sitting under heat lamps due to the fact everything was just warm and not close to hot. I'm giving 2 stars because the food was good. The service was absolute crap. To charge $11 for a meal and have to wait roughly 45 min for food is ridiculous. The waitress never came by to ask how our food was. Came here for Thanksgiving, closest place to my residence. A buffet was served (24.99/pp)...not a bad price but I guess in this case, you get what you pay for. This was my first time here and more than likely my last if the real menu food is anything like the raggedy buffet. Yikes!

We arrived around lunchtime and were seated in under 30 minutes - pretty good considering the crowd. So here's the highlights: visit the waffle station, the Belgian waffles are excellent and great with fresh fruit or the syrup with bananas. The shrimp and fried catfish were seasoned well - grilled veggies were a plus and our waitress (Kayla) was excellent. Hubby also recommended the cheese grits and Jazzy wings. The downside: the desert station was a let-down - both bread puddings were undercooked and had to be returned to the kitchen (hence the other 1/2 waffle for desert). You can skip the Mac and cheese - the beignets and French toast were stale. Overall I'd likely return for brunch, but RCBC remains my #1 spot for brunch. :)

I give it 3 stars because the service was great, the location was great and our server was awesome. We ordered als Cajun popcorn shrimp and spicy crawfish cheese fries . The loaded fries were delicious it had crawfish, pimento cheese, mozzarella cheese, green onions, and sauce. The popcorn shrimp had a good flavor but was to salty. For Dinner I had crab cakes with shrimp Alfredo. The crab cakes were seasoned well and had bits of onions and fresh thyme. The other meal at the table was crab stuffed catfish bordelaise. It was good but didn't taste like catfish out of a scale of 5 that dish was a three. Overall the meals and drinks were a 3 The Copelands in Atlanta was so much better to me

There is somethings on the menu that are amazing and prepared great and others could use some attention. Ask the waiter what they recommend. Sunday brunch is great and even for $30 you get your moneys worth. The mimosas are great and bottomless for $10. Compared to other Sunday Bruches this is about $3-4 more and taste pretty munch the same. If you are looking for something different then definitely try Copelands.

I had the shrimp and catfish creole dish with jasmine rice - it was their 550 calorie special and absolutely delicious!!! I usually think everything is spicy and while this was spicy, it was not hot. The waiter we have is really nice but talks super low so hard to hear could not tell what she was saying . Not trying to be mean but talk louder so every one can hear you. The food is spicy not to bad but could be hot for some people... and over all it took N hour to get are food and the bad thing is people who came when after we did got there food be for we did and left. So the waiting time here on a Saturday is crazy but Don't be surprised for the long wait. But the food was alright . There no need to have us wait so long got there at 7:15 it's now 9:24 and we are heading home. It was so loud could not hear the date at my table. Over all I will not go back do not like waiting for N hour for food.. It may be a popular place but damn.

I sat at the bar, I was eating solo, and was hoping to spark some conversation with the bartenders. They weren't busy but they also weren't very talkative. :/ I ordered the shrimp Orleans. The shrimp was cooked well and I loved the texture and creaminess of the rice. However, there was way too much spice and even more pepper on top of that. Don't get me wrong, I love spicy food and I know it's intended to be hot but I couldn't finish the plate because of the amount of heat. There was way too much pepper added, I'm not sure if that was a one time thing. I will probably give copelands a second chance, I just hope it adds up.

We had Sunday brunch here. It's awesome!! A wide selection of items to select from made to order omelets to crawfish! Beignets, french toast, waffles, and on. It's wonderful. The only negative was seeing the dust on top of the booth dividers. If it weren't for that I'da given the place 5 stars.

Went for the Saturday brunch. This was the first time they did it on Saturday, you could tell they were trying to work out some of the kinks, but they were not big things. It isn't as big as their Sunday brunch, but it was still great. The only thing I would suggest is that they space the stations farther apart so there isn't as much congestion around the food. The staff is still as nice as ever. I hope they are able to work out the kinks and keep it going because I think it could be as successful as the Sunday brunch

I wouldn't consider myself a connoisseur of Creole food by any means...I just know what I like. I like Copeland's A LOT! I have a couple of fav's here: -Al's Cajun Popcorn Crawfish - Lightly battered Cajun-spiced mudbugs! YUMMY!! -Eggplant Pirogue - Thick cut eggplant lightly fried with this crazy delish cream sauce. It comes dotted with little crab claws. -Andouille Sausage, Red Beans and Rice-Copeland's does this classic dish right! The Andouille they use if not too spicy and the beans are the perfect texture. There is magic in the handmade biscuits here as well. I don't know what Copeland's does to make them so buttery, but I would love to have that recipe!!!! I have gotten pretty good service here even when it has been slammed which is always a good indicator of a smoothly running machine, and the food here is just really, really delicious. If you stay in the classic fare the prices aren't too bad, but when you get into the specialty aged meat menu, dinner for two will cost about $30.00 per person. This is a really great date night hot spot!

There we were, Sunday morning had slipped away and the day was tripping into afternoon and we decided a sit-down meal was in order. After several false-starts, we decided on Copeland's. I am a huge fan of classic southern cooking and Nawlin's and I have become great friends over the years so, I admit, I was a it dubious as to how I would enjoy the experience and food. Let's start with the appetizer. We had the Broccoli selection, which sounded good and tasted even better. Minced broccoli with cheese and bacon in a tart-ish sauce with a hing of sweetness and a touch of heat? Dear God, they were delicious. Next, there was the sandwiches. The grilled cheese, which included bacon as well, came with a side of mac & cheese, with more bacon, and was incredible. My roast beef Po-Boy was spectacular, even if they did put mayo on it rather than mustard, as requested. Seriously, the sandwich's were excellent and my fries? Wonderful. Cooked well with enough seasoning to give them a delightful savory taste all for a pretty damn good price. And then there us the service. Good, prompt, attentive, and friendly. Bad service can make the best meal a chore and good service can make an adequate meal spectacular. But when you have great food and great service? Well, that's the reason you go out to eat rather than just picking something up. The place was fairly busy when we were there, but I never felt rushed or ignored so I highly recommend the establishment.

The food is excellent I always get the tomato basil chicken. My husband gets the blacken redfish. We particularly enjoyed this visit because our server, Chris, was so accommodating. The Chef came out to talk to me about my food allergy. He made some garlic toast to go with my spinach artichoke dip because I couldn't eat the fried bow tie pasta. I can't rave enough about how hospitable the staff was! If you like Cajun/Creole food, you should try this place.

A most surprising culinary gem in Jacksonville. We went here with my in-laws, who have ate at the New Orleans original. The decor was simple, a little dated, but comfortable. I ordered the hurricane drink and it was almost as authentic as in NOLA, according to them. We ordered an onion blossom, sautéed crab claws and gumbo for appetizer. All were delicious and seasoned properly. My husband asked for one biscuit to sample and our server was forthright in bringing whole platter of fluffy hot buttery biscuits! He also brought us refills of our hand squeezed lemonades "on his tab." Our entrees ranged from blackened redfish, seafood platter, filet mignon, crawfish pasta and red beans and rice with fried catfish. The portions were large and beautifully plated. All the food was sizzling hot and flavorful. We had just went to a well known steak place the week earlier for our anniversary, but we all agreed Copeland's was even a little more satisfying, with impeccable service and quality. Don't forget to order the bananas foster, homemade cheesecake w/pecan crust or homespun ice cream for dessert!

It has been my mission to find the best New Orleans food in central Florida. Copelands is one of the best I've hit so far. I tried several things on the menu on the first visit. Crawfish cheese fries, crab stuffed catfish roulade, crawfish bread, jambalaya pasta and the Mardi Gras king cake cheesecake were all phenomenal! The crawfish bread was the best of them all though I think. It was a very hard decision of what to order because so many things looked so good. I'll have to make many trips back here even if I do have to drive and hour n a half to eat this food. Can't wait to try the BBQ shrimp boil and Cajun crawfish pasta!

I have been to Copeland's several times and every time was simply wonderful. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. That is important to me. The place was spotless and I liked the decor. As far as the food is concerned, it has ALWAYS been wonderful. We all enjoyed the different dishes. They were tasty and properly spiced. Oh, one last thing, the noise level was quite low. I really loved the fact that I could actually hear what the people in my dinner party were saying!! This place has become my go-to restaurant. Copeland's serves New Orleans "style" cuisine where you can order Jambalaya, Étouffée, and many items that contain Andouille Sausage. True to the The Big Easy theme, this place has a sizeable bar with a reasonable selection of spirits. The bartender was pleasant, but served me the wrong drink, (Dewars, a blended Scotch, instead of the single malt Glenmorangie that I ordered) which she quickly replaced upon learning of the mistake and apologized. At the table, we had an excellent waiter who knew the menu very well, knew the specials of the day and, when prompted, made some good recommendations. The waiter also let me know that I could add more or subtract from any of the menu items and that many customers come in and can order an almost custom meal. It is rare to find such flexibility in a menu. At the recommendation of the waiter, I ordered the Jambalaya over bow tie pasta, with blackened chicken and Andouille Sausage. Although I am used to Jambalaya served over red beans and rice, this Jambalaya over pasta was delicious. Nice and spicy, and the bow ties held the sauce well. However, it was a little light on chicken and sausage, otherwise it was perfect. I would come back here, however would make sure to try one of the Po'Boys that I saw on the way out.

I gave copelands 4 stars because the food is amazing. The prices are a little high but the portions are huge. I had the chicken eggplant Parmesan and my boyfriend had the roast duck, both dishes were cooked to perfection. The only issue we had was the service. The server was nice but our food took forever to come out and our food did not come out at the same time. He forgot my boyfriends baked potato and we had to get it to go. For the price we paid, we expected better service. Also, you have to order an appetizer because they do not offer bread and the food takes forever. We would go back because of the food but we will probably get it to go next time.

My husband and I were going out for dinner with some friends and their children. We've never been to Copelands so we all decided to go there. The service was terrible. After ordering drinks, the waitress did not return until about 7 minutes later. Came back with 3 out of 5 drinks. Then left and didn't come back for another 10 minutes. Brought one drink (which was probably sitting at the bar because it was already watered down. Couldn't even taste the alcohol) but we were still missing the other one. We were all wondering what was going on. She finally came back with the appetizers and FINALLY brought my friend her drink. We were already off to a bad start. We ordered our food. Waited some more. Then they started to bring the food out one by one. All the adults had gotten the food but we were still waiting on the food for the kids. What restaurant brings the kids food out last? Finally the kids get their food. As we all start eating, we each start commenting on how bad the food is. I ordered the red beans and rice. At first I liked it but I think it was because I'm pregnant and I was sooo hungry. Then I just hated it. My husbands food was ok. Everyone else didn't like their food either. One of our friends ordered a baked potato and it was completely burned at the bottom. The other friend ordered a side of mac'n cheese but it looked like it was macaroni pasta in soup. My other friend had ordered pasta and it was super over cooked. This was our first and last time eating here. We did not enjoy it at all. So bad we didn't even tip. ***I ended throwing up that red beans and rice. Disgusting.

This place is absolute garbage!! Just went there for my buddies birthday and had a terrible time. Had a reservation for 9 o'clock and didn't get our table till almost 10. They cramed our group of 11 in the bar area with seating for 8. Ordered a long island and I'm pretty sure I just drank straight sour mix with a splash of coke after waiting for 30 mins for it. The food was discussing. Not to mention I've had better service from McDonalds on 103rd st . They even lost the birthday cake we asked them to put in the freezer. I ate here for the first time yesterday. It's not very attractive outside, but rest assured the inside is much nicer. I came for lunch and there was ample parking, but I can't say that would hold true on a busy night for dinner. There was an outdoor seating area with perhaps 8 tables. I sat inside though. The menu had plenty to offer ranging from typical brunch items to your average lunch fare. I had a "Bon Temps Burger" which consisted of 1/2 lbs of meat, jack cheese, and barbecue sauce. I ask for medium, and received a medium cooked burger. I mention this because it's not always guaranteed. The sauce was tangy and delightful. The tea was well sweetened, and never left half empty. I will say that my fries were soggy, which put a big downer on my meal as I love fries. Overall I'd say I'll go here again if asked, but I probably wouldn't come up with the idea myself as it just didn't wow me.

I CANCELLED my reservation at Gigi's to taste some Cajun turkey this year, only to be stuffed into their front lobby with at least a hundred other people. Mediocre is non exsistent here w/ special regards to the "FOOD"!!!! This is a "Must Stop" spot while in, Jacksonville, FL. If you love southern hospitality in white pressed shirts and black bottoms along with, "Nawlins" sustenance then, Copeland's is a no brainer. Hot Crab Claws are a fundamental need for starters. My favorite dish, that by process of elimination I wind up ordering. The other dishes although deserving and delicious, are of no comparision. The"Catfish Acadiana" hands down is my dish of choice. Then we move into the sinful portion of the meal. The desserts. If a priest is available at the time of your visit, you will need him to accompany you for this portion of the meal alone. Diablo, is in the Signature Cheesecake [3 caramel] and either a blood sugar count or exorcisim will need to take place after consumption of this sinful sweet. The service as well as professionalism is plausible with the very minor exception of a dimwitted hostess [whom will remain nameless] who lacks the same credibility to excellence that the servers maintain. The food was slow to come even though it was not really that busy. The waiter was friendly enough but his service could not cover up the awful food. I ordered fetuccini with shrimp and was only able to eat the shrimp. The pasta was literally in a pool of buttery liquid. The waiter was very apologetic and the manager compted us a giant piece of chocolate fudge cake.. I would have preferred a good meal and not to have to lug home a 2 pound slice of cake that I did not want anyway. Skip this restaurant as its overpriced for the quality of the food you get.

In Jax, your good food choices are very limited. Go to Bonefish or even Longhorns, the fish at these 2 places were similarly priced and much better. -1 star because service was excellent, told her we had coupons at the beginning and split check and she still went above and beyond. -1 star food, because yeah, um, typical oily chain restaurant food. My salmon was overcooked rubbery and greasier than greasy, it was blackened and still had no flavor and it was $20. The beans were excellent. The sweet potatoes were good but had about a pound of sugar, a bit too heavy on the sugar. The other fish entrees, redfish and catfish were ok, but heavy on the grease. Corn/crab chowder was decent, the cornbread that came on top of the chowder was really tasty and so was the biscuit that came with my fish. The artichoke dip was tasty, kind of hard to mess that up. -1 star because we had a 50 percent coupon, had I been rating this based on regular prices, even with the excellent service it would have gotten a Jax 2 star rating. I'm being very generous with a 3 star rating. If I was in LA, this would've gotten a 1. I took about 2 bites of everything and gobbled up the beans because those really were good, boxed everything else. I would not go back. I'm a bit spoiled, I grew up on whole fresh foods, my mom is an amazing cook, I worked in some of the best restaurants in LA and I've eaten at some of the best restaurants around the world. And by best I don't mean most expensive, excellent food is excellent food, no matter the price point.

My mother and I were meeting 3 ladies I had worked with when I lived here 96-00. Figured it was close to where we were staying and for them. Our waiter who was from Minnesota originally, was very attentive and helpful. He knew his menu and had several suggestions. My mother took his suggestion for the hot crab claws appetizer for her main dish. I had gumbo and 1/2 shrimp & 1/2 crawfish etouffee. When the server brought my mother's crab claws, it was NOT at all like what was in the photo. You could barely see any crab claws, but you could see a round of garlic toast. She expressed her disappointment and they offered to get her something else. So she tried my etouffee, which was pretty tasty and ordered the small plate version. The other ladies had a fish special and 2 orders of the small plate of shrimp Orleans. Everyone had a good time as we didn't have to worry about trying to find the waiter and were left alone to talk. Overall, this is definitely a chain shop, but our waiter was the best. One suggestion is that the actual food that's delivered needs to match the pictures. As they say a picture is worth a thousand words.

I dined at Copeland's last night while on business in Jacksonville. I ordered Shrimp Scampi, which was good, but not great. We shared an appetizer plate with some type of fried bow tie shaped cracker? not bad with the spinach artichoke dip. There was also some kind of fried cheese ball with crab maybe, very good. One of us had the stuffed shrimp, which came with a salad (if he remembered correctly). The 5 shrimp, sitting alone on a large plate, looked kind of meager, but he said they were good. My companions said the bread pudding was very good. I was excited to see Banana's Foster on the dessert menu, but disappointed that it was not flambeed tableside (I don't think it was flambeed at all). I wasn't happy to see the 18% gratuity tacked on for our table of 5. Our total bill averaged $47 per person and we shared one appetizer and two desserts and only had one drink apiece. I expect better food in that price range.

Everything I have eaten here has been really good. My brother the burger connaisseur says their burger that comes on a croissant is one of the best he has ever had. I enjoy their salads, although their menu is so extensive I find it hard to believe that anyone couldn't find something they would like. The service has been excellent and they have a good bar menu... including the New Orleans favorite Hurricane, which is delicious. They have a great Sunday brunch. Lastly, if you feel like splurging... (waistline, not wallet) try the Big Als Chocolate cake... I'm not the typical chocoholic female, but that cake is amazing.

Anyway I generally do not like Cajun food, but I must say I had craw fish & linguine in what tasted, and looked like a Bolognese sauce & I rate that dish a 9.875! Anyway I have gone back four times since, and experimented with their menu on the conservative side, and have found the food to all be very good, decent service, bar is just OK, parking is very tight so if you don't want your car dinged, take a cab, or park in Publix in the rear somewhere.

Dined here on our first night in Jacksonville. Of course I turned to YELP and found this place which was only a couple of miles away from our hotel. It was busy but they were able to accomodate our big party right away. The server was very attentive - a bit flamboyant, but funny. I ordered the angel hair pasta with shrimp and crab cakes in alfredo sauce and it was deeeelicious. Everyone else in our group enjoyed their food as well. I even heard one of them say that if there was a God of all hamburgers, Copeland's hamburger would be it! That's a huge compliment coming from someone who lives in California where there are a ton of great burger joints. The calamari was very tasty. The only item that I didn't enjoy so much was the Onion-Mum, similar to Chili's awesome blossom. The onion was not cooked well so it was quite strong. All else was wonderful and oh how i love dining in the south where every place served sweet tea, my favorite!

I have eaten here more that 10 times from dinner and twice for brunch. I can't get over how good their biscuits are. Try them with butter and Crystals hot sauce. The omelets for brunch have 6 eggs each, be careful when ordering. Yeah I said it 6 freaking eggs. Deep fried french toast was good the first time, second time too much oil.

I've been to this place twice now and I'd like to give a 3.5, but I can't. So I guess it's a 3 instead. I know lot's of folks love this mini-Orleans based chain, but I can't share their Big Easy enthusiasm. The first time I had the Shrimp Ducky over rice. It was pretty good and for $15.00 was a lot of food. Basically, it's this semi-spicy brown sauce with tiny pieces of duck and lots of shrimp. It's got decent flavor and went well with my beer. This latest time I went with some co-workers. One of them used to work at a Copeland's in Louisiana and really liked it so we went. I started with the Chop Salad. Now, I compare all Chop Salads to the one at Smith and Wollensky's. The iceberg lettuce should be cold, crisp and fresh. To make this happen, you have to prepare the salad just before serving. The other ingrediant should provide the flavor and texture. Alas, this was not the case at Copeland's. The lettuce was soft, and warm. The dressing lacked pop. There was not enough cheese. The bacon was non-existent. Overall, poorly done. For my entree I had the Pasta Shrimp Copeland for $13.99. It present's on a large white platter, toppped with angel hair pasta. The angel hair was not al dente, but not too mushy. The sauce is butter, garlic, a little basil, a lot of small shrimp and more butter. No parmesean was offered. Tasty, but nothing unique. I could make this at home in 10 minutes. It was not a bad experience, but I wouldn't choose to go back there if I had a choice. Got some free beads though.

Had a couple of friends visit from L.A. wanting to try some southern food for brunch. For a festive restaurant, you would think that the staff would be more.... "festive" but it seems the restaurant hired them straight from the mortuary (granted this is the day after a Saturday night of partying). Other than the "dead" service, the shrimp po-boy was light and not too oily. For those that are use to the New Orleans style po-boys, the bread was a bit soft and had less than expected amount of shrimp. The french toast description should be changed to gently fried to generously fried but it was true to southern cooking (maybe something to eat before starting the night life?) The corn & crab bisque was decent but I wasn't able to see the lumps of crab meat they put in the description. However, the filet benedict stole the show. The filet mignon was cooked to perfection with its mushroom sauce and poached egg with bearnaise sauce. The meal was slightly overpriced but there are a couple of gems that may make another trip worth while.

First off, it's been a while since I've been to Copeland's (about three years), but when I went, I found the experience enjoyable. Judging by the fact that the parking lot is still full at peak times after what I think is about 6 years of operation at its current location, most people agree. It's one of the few restaurants in the area that actually has valet parking (which I find frivolous at a small chain restaurant where the average meal is between $25 and $50 after tip, but to each their own). I only gave it four stars for a couple of reasons. While the food is excellent, New Orleans-style cuisine, I have trouble justifying the price. Also, the way the streets are structured in that area, the restaurant can be a little difficult to get to, especially if one hasn't been there before (I know that's the city's fault, but it's worth taking into account); aside from that, the location is superb. The wait staff is generally friendly and the meal is well-paced for that type of environment. It is not a restaurant where one spends more than an hour (about the pace of something like a Carrabba's or Outback). Usually, people eating there are catching a movie across the street. If you do eat there at peak times, plan on waiting a while for a table. It stays busy. I'd definitely recommend it, especially if you're in the mood for something a little different than the steak/burger and fries.

One of those places where the food is so good, but the service is hit or miss. Food highlights include the chicken parm (one of the best you will find anywhere), the penthouse salad, Bon Temps burger, and the bananas foster with vanilla ice cream (a premier dessert!). The service can range from great to slow to incompetent. This frustration causes us to only come once every couple months instead of once a week like we did 7-8 years ago.

We enjoyed our experience at Copelands. I had the jambalaya and my wife had the eggplant. Both were very good. I was curious as to why they didn't have shrimp and grits. The servicer was very nice and gave good recommendations. The food took a little long to come out and the ambience was weird to me. All and all a great experience.

Food were is good. Couldn't decide what appetizer I wanted so I tried the sampler which has Spinach Artichoke dip. Buffalo Spring Rolls and Bayou Broccoli. All of these items were ok, nothing to right home about but good just the same. But my main entree was delish!! I wanted the Crabcakes and Shrimp Alfredo but because I wasn't trying to eat completely horribly I wanted the seafood over vegetables instead of pasta. To my delight they were more than willing to accommodate my request and it was awesome when I tried it. Every bit of it was finger-licking good. And let me not forget to recognize the excellent service I received. Very attentive staff. Didn't have to even think about needing something because they were right there taking care of it before i could even ask. I would def recommend this restaurant.

Tried Copeland's for the first time recently and I have to say it was better than I expected. We started with the crawfish bread.. what's not to like about bread smothered in spinach artichoke, Alfredo, and crawfish? Good portion. Boyfriend had the jambalaya, which was the only thing that didn't impress me. The sauce had good flavor but I've had much better many times elsewhere. I had to try red beans and rice because its my hands-down favorite Cajun dish. It didn't disappoint, but the serving was a little small.. I was hoping to have leftovers! We finished with the white chocolate bread pudding and I will definitely be back for that dish! YUM! Overall a good atmosphere with decent food for the price.

AYCE Sunday brunch. Need I say more? Ok, let me explicate. For 20$, you get all you can eat brunch, which includes, beef brisket, fried chickens, turkey, shrimp, etc, in addition to the uzsh breakfast items. Add 8$ and it's all you can drink mimosas. This place was poppin on Sunday. Holla! Don't be a noob like me and go bizarko over the scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy. That stuff is child's play. Walk towards the back and there's beef, turkey, ham, and other goodness like fried catfish. THEN, only then, should you go back for the shrimp, chicken wings, cajun rice, etc. Afterwards, you should go back for more catfish if your plate permits. The meats were actually a bit dry, but it didn't rain on my parade too much. There is also an omelet stand, where you can get custom-made omelets. As for sweets, I really enjoyed the bread pudding, it was nice and warm and actually not too heavy. They also have a waffles station, french toast, and bananas foster. Copeland's also has items such as marshmellow and pineapple to dip in the chocolate fondue. There's also an assortment of melons near the biscuits. The food was above average for buffet. I'd say this was worth the 20$ because this girl can eat. The place was very busy so the service was decent, but understandably so.
