High Blood Pressure at Applebee's

Most of the foods served at Applebee's restaurants are high in sodium. Unless you are visiting the restaurant or dining here in the group, there are hardly any options from the main meals if you wish to keep your blood pressure in check. You can rely on a few salad options though. If lucky, you may find low-sodium ribs as well at the restaurant.

Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Blood Pressure

Avoid Green Goddess Wedge at Applebee's. Broccoli Cheese Soup and French Onion Soup contain over 1000mg sodium and hence must be skipped as well. Things are improving, though very slowly. It seems a great deal of the problem is schedule and task related, and could be improved a great deal with better time management. I can tell the employees are very frustrated at peak times in particular, and likely time management and being forced to cover for others or pick up their slack because they have too much going on in their section may be part of that. The new menu has some tasty items that are reasonably priced.

What do you do when you have 4 hungry adults driving to Florida in a minivan and it is pouring down rain? You find a Cracker Barrel...unless there is an hour long wait so you go back to the Applebee's you drove past on the road to the Cracker Barrel. We have been driving straight from Maryland to Florida. Zero sleep. Dad gets sliders. Mom got a chicken penne that came with a wedge salad. My sister and I went with the pick 2 for $25. I had the burbon steak and she went with the 1/2 rack of ribs and we picked the spinach dip as our appetizer. I think it was the service. Cute server named Joe. He was slow. He tried to be attentive. He got the wrong sauce on her ribs. The chips with the dip were super salty. My steak was good but very salty. The potatoes that came with my steak was very salty. The fries with Dad's sliders were very salty. My family usually likes Applebee's. This time, we were glad we were just driving through and did not live in this neighborhood.

Applebees's is average tasting and the price to eat out as a family was nearly a $100 bucks. I believe it is not warranted for the food that is served, but as I mentioned, it is average tasting. The wait staff here was attentive and the portions were good, but the cost of a burger for the kids (albeit the adult burger) was just way over priced. The beer selection was also good. I do believe that the next we go, it will be just my wife and I. I've had the riblet platter, still not quite sure what part of the pig has riblets but it certainly isn't from the rib section. Still, they are quite tasty. The fish and chips is just okay, but the beer is very cold and the happy hour is decent enough to offset the higher price of burgers.

We visited this restaurant next to our hotel last night, we were seated at 9:15 and ordered at 9:30pm. mostly everyone received their meal by 10:25 pm except me. I ordered a mushroom burger without mayo that took one hour and 20 minutes. When it came finally the burger had mayo. It took another 25 minutes for a new one only to have two single mushrooms on it. The manager was asked to come and speak to me, which she/he did not. After leaving frustrated and hungry, called and asked for management, the person never came to the phone. Never again.

Unfortunately my review here isn't going to be much different than anyone else's. We stopped here on our through Jacksonville. The food it'd what you'd expect but the service is terribly slow. Our waiter was nice, but the entire staff didn't seem to have a clue how long they were taking with everything. Even something as a simple as a draft beer. I don't live anywhere near there so it goes without saying that I won't be back, but please don't do what I did and overlook the reviews taking about the slow service.

Everyone is hating on old Applebee's. Yes. The service typically blows. The food is piss poor mediocre. But it's Applebee's come on! I sat at the bar one night after work and had a great time. Interesting people. Service at the bar was top notch. Boy Willie had drinks on point and attentive as one can be. Tried the new pub apps; chicken quesadilla and pot stickers. The pot stickers are about the size of a half dollar coin but you get eight of them. They tasted like something I'd buy while stoned and microwaved. The quesadilla was actually decent. Again I could've made all of this at the house way better, but it's Applebee's. As long as they provide mediocre service its a mediocre spot to hang out after work. You never know what you'll run in to. On this night I met an obese woman hitting on a gentleman from Orlando here on business. Always a laugh.

Whoa on service. Been here 24 min and still haven't met my server. After 10-15 min the mgr asked if I was waiting on a drink and I said I never saw a waiter. He took my order and drink at almost 330 got food and finally a water refill. It's not busy in here so I'm quite confused y the service is this bad.

The one thing I hate is having to ask for more to drink. The only other thing worse is when you eventually get asked and it never comes. I usually sit at the bar for lunch to be able to get in/out quickly. I finished my first drink halfway through my sandwich and seeing the bartender busy I slid the glass to the edge. Waited. Went back to eating. And finished meal. Waited. Finally after about 15 min total the bartender asked if I want more tea. Yes please. I Waited. Finally paid check and left. It's rule # 1 in restaurant biz never let customer go thirsty. Sadly this Applebee's will move to the no list for my lunch options.

Food quality varies by the dish. While I may have been disappointed I've never been let down. I've tried many dishes here and overlap would rate it as better than most of the bar food that I've had. The bartender, Rob, really is the highlight of this establishment. He has always been cheerful, welcoming, and all around great server. Without him here this place would be so-so.

We decided to eat at this Applebee's tonight because it was close to our hotel. We had great service, great food, and great beer. We also lucked out because it was happy hour! The restrooms and the restaurant in general were very clean. I will definitely be coming back to this Applebee's in the future!

Very slow service. Food came out in four separate waves. First person that got their food was almost done eating by the time the last person got their food. Server was friendly. Manager did apologize for slow service do to being understaffed. Looking at other drivers it seems like they are always slow and understaffed.

I think I'm invisible. I'm currently standing in Applebee's, honestly because it was the closest place open this late with decent food. Stood at the door for a couple of minutes before a really polite manager came over and asked if I had been helped. I told him no and that I would like to place an order to go. He directed me to where to go to place the order and said that he would send someone right over to help me. Let's just say I had time to sign in to Yelp to start this review before someone helped me. I was passed by at least 7 servers and also the same manager, some coming so close they lightly bumped me without even an excuse me. I had to take out my phone and look in the camera to make sure I hadn't disappeared. Finally, a server took my order as I blocked his way back to the floor. I will say, it's busy tonight, but not packed. I'll be making a note to not come back to this location. Not like Applebee's is high on my list of places to go anyway. Now begins the wait for the food to take back home to my hungry bae. Let's see how this goes...

So I made the mistake of not reading the reviews until I received my order. It was an unfortunate meal.

Went there for lunch with my co-workers because it is close to my job. I got served cold food and then when I asked for a salad to replace the cold food that I was served, because they would have just threw it in the microwave and sent it back out. The lettuce looked like it was 3 day old. The manager on duty never came to check on us and to apologize for the horrible service. It is like they don't care. It is in a good location, but the service and food will eventually cause it shutdown. I will never go back there again and neither any of my co-workers. It is not worth going there getting sick from food poisoning, because the people there don't care about what they are serving you as long as you pay for the crappy food.

Another example of "just another chain" that doesn't care anymore. Here's why: 1. Waitress rushed and got me the wrong drink 2. Food was ok but not spectacular 3. Bathroom was also dirty and nasty And another disturbing issue is they were handing out coupons. That tells me they're not doing so well that they have to resort to coupons to bring in business. Not good at all!

Service was slow. Food was slower. Came here on two different occasions (Sunday afternoon and Monday late afternoon and neither day did they have good service. Come planning for a long stay ...

  • Jaime M.

As usual with Applebee's the service was slow. It took about 4 or 5 minutes to get a drink order in after being seated. When you get a chance to talk to wait staff they are generally friendly, just don't be in a hurry. The food is average and with the 2 for $20 it is not a bad deal. The food is fairly bland and this visit reminds me why I don't come hereoften. This will likely be my last visit to ant applebee's. It is pretty bad when all the waiters spend thier time apologizing to patrons.

At first, the restaurant was named T.J. Applebee's RX for Edibles and Elixirs. After the concept was acquired by W.R. Grace and Company, the restaurant was renamed as Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar. Later the company and the Applebee's concept changed hands with Abe Gustin and John Hamra who started the first Applebee's franchise restaurant in Kansas City.

Later in 2007, IHOP Corp. now known as DineEquity, Inc. acquired Applebee's and began their journey together to make Applebee's the world's largest full-service restaurant chain.
