High Blood Pressure at Applebee's

Most of the foods served at Applebee's restaurants are high in sodium. Unless you are visiting the restaurant or dining here in the group, there are hardly any options from the main meals if you wish to keep your blood pressure in check. You can rely on a few salad options though. If lucky, you may find low-sodium ribs as well at the restaurant.

Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Blood Pressure

Avoid Green Goddess Wedge at Applebee's. Broccoli Cheese Soup and French Onion Soup contain over 1000mg sodium and hence must be skipped as well. Skip all the chicken dishes and seafood at Applebee's except Grilled Chicken Breast and Baked Haddock without sides respectively. High Cholesterol at Applebee's

Well, steaks and ribs go hand in hand with cholesterol. Being their signature dish, it will be a challenge to find low-calorie, healthy food for those concerned with their cholesterol levels. However, you can always opt for their salads and other light foods to keep the cholesterol in check.

Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Cholesterol

If you have high cholesterol, then you must avoid eating sandwiches, wraps, and tacos at Applebee's. While the salads and soups sound healthy, you must skip the Fiesta Chopped Salad and Loaded Potato Soup at Applebee's. It is also advised to dodge the Three Cheese Chicken Penne and Chicken Fajita Rollup. Any main meal with over 100mg cholesterol is not idle for someone with high cholesterol. This is the first time I have been to an Applebees in a few years and I must admit I didn't find a lot on their menu that appealed to me. We ended up ordering some onion rings which very very good - although I much preferred the old onion petals they use to have. I ordered the riblet basket and I must admit they were terrible. It was basically just a strip of bones with about a 1/8 inch of meat on them and they left a unpleasant after taste in my mouth. I only had two bites and couldn't eat any more. Hubby ordered and Chicken Penne Pasta and said it was okay but nothing to really rave about. The staff were pleasant and attentive and although there were TV everywhere they were not so loud as to be annoying. It is sad that their menu is now just like all the other chain restaurants.

This is my first Applebees dining experience in about five (5) years! 4 Stars today! Christmas Eve, 2pm ish, and this place did well! I am not a fan of chain restaurants, but I had a gift card, so here we go! We had the sweet potato fries appetizer; excellent, hot, and the three dipped sauces were flavorful. I had the soup of the day (corn chowder) and the half turkey sandwich; very tasty, the soup was piping hot just the way I like it, and the turkey was good on the chabatta roll. Cheryl had the fish and chips. Standard restaurant fish and chips, but fried perfectly. The manager was even canvasing the dining room and asking the patrons, "how is everything" Good job, sir! Thank you for a pleasant dining experience on the eve of Baby Jusus' birthday!!

Anyone who thinks some of the food on the menu deserves more than one star is completely out of their mind. My wife and I dined here last night. Both salads were served at room temperature. She ordered the ribs which she said were quite good. I ordered the 7oz sirloin which was the most disgusting, vile, inedible piece of meat ever served to man. I was raw (I am guessing that it was cooked from a frozen state) and tasteless. I am surprised my fork did not break in half as I tried to stick it in this ridiculous excuse for meat. Please do yourself a favor and stay away from this place, You will thank me later.

I enjoyed the chicken wonton tacos and they were pretty good. I would definitely eat them again. This was a late night stop in so I ended up taking it home and the bartender was extremely accommodating of my requests.

I went here when I was in town visiting a family member. I am not an Applebee's food fan in general, but not only was this experience unpleasant, the other patrons were pretty poorly behaved as well. (I had a table on one side of me making racist comments, while the table on the other side was busily confirming every negative stereotype about their race that existed--including leaving a paltry tip). The big joke came later when my family member informed me that this poorly-run location (complete with shouting matches coming from the kitchen) was used to train managers for other Applebee's locations. Yikes! One extra star since our long-suffering (apparently) server was nice. But that's it.

Server forgot the appetizer. It wasn't really that busy. Maybe he's new. When we asked for it, he pretty much asked the same question back. I haven't been back here for about 5 years, my sister, 8 years. I wonder if this is the reason why we've been hesitant to come back.

Horrible Atmosphere, Horrible Service, Waitress is to busy talking to the other ones to even take our drink order, food came out partially cold. Stay away from this Applebee's, they suck.

Oh Applebees. You made me look the fool. All the times I've stood up for you and said "Applebees has such great food". People look at me with their mouths hanging open and slowly shake their head. Now I have to agree. Our story: we began with the spinach and artichoke dip. The chips were totally so stale that we had to ask for a fresh batch right off the bat. We ordered the 2 for $25 with hubby having the bourbon chicken and I had the Bourbon steak. We both had the mashed. Where oh where do I begin? Why ask how I want my steak done (medium rare) if youre going to cook it up the way you want to anyway (well)? I'm a salt lover but my steak was so salty I had to drown myself with water. Hubby's chicken was dry as a bone. I had to give him some of my salt sauce to make his chicken edible. Our mashed came with nothing--No gravy, butter,nothing---just white blandness. The manager listen to our concerns and gave us his assurance that when we came back he would personally make our food (thanks??). When questioned if our return would be comped, he said "you mean youre wanting it comped"? So he gave us a $10 card to use on our next visit. No thanks. He also wanted to know if my husband could get him a tour of my husband's workplace. Right. Now I'm the one slowly shaking my head.

Stopped by for happy hour. Decent deals on apps being 1/2 price and 2/1 cocktails. Titos vodka is considered a well drink brand. Sat at the bar and Kimber was our server. We were the only customers at the bar and only a couple customers were at the tables. Kimber gave us great service so our complaint has nothing to do with her. Here's what we didn't like and maybe this is why it is so dead in Applebees. 1) the majority of the apps were fried. Everything came out the kitchen over-fried and cooked in old oil. Apps were a burnt brown versus golden brown and everything had the same old oil flavor. 2) we let the bartender know and she sent back the app. 3) Jason the manager did not even come over to see us to chat or to apologize... He basically ignored us and trust me there were only a handful of customers 4) one of the servers was rubbing and smoothing his hair and patting his hair into shape in the dining area. He did not wash his hands after touching his hair and went on to serve a table their drinks and entrees. 5) the foot platform around the bar has built up dirt and grime. This will be our last visit to Applebees. Such an unhealthy menu, unhealthy standards coupled with an uninterested manager. Bet you are not hitting your goals in this location! Applebees work on your menu everything cant be high in fat, high in calories and processed.

This particular Applebee's I'm not so sure about... They didn't have any sugar....(things that make you go hummm...a restaurant that has no sugar in the kitchen) which also translates to NO Sweet Tea. Only the sugar packets that you could add to it after the fact and we know that sugar doesn't dissolve in ice tea duh....Next up appetizers....NOT..... no mozzarella sticks.... COME ON who doesn't have mozzarella sticks....I guess I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and come back when they're having a better day!... OMG did they just bring my salad out without the bread geesh?!?!

I've avoided Applebee's like the plague for quite a few years ever since they served me mashed potatoes in a plastic bag. But, yesterday, we visited every g*damn costume shop in the city while the girlfriend weighed the merits of vampire vs. 1920's gangster and I was grumpy because each costume shop was a just a *little* more claustrophobic than the last and the screaming hordes of children and various cackling inflatable witches/skeletons/gravestones were giving me a headache and Applebee's was so conveniently placed across the street so I bit the bullet. Let me revisit the mashed potatoes in a bag scenario. I don't remember what else was on my plate, but when I pointed out the mashed potato situation, the waitress said, "Oh, they forgot to take it out of the bag. Hold on." She then found a pair of scissors, cut the bag open, and slid the potatoes onto my plate. The potatoes maintained the integrity of the bag they were kept in, wrinkles and all, and it freaked me out sufficiently enough to abscond from eating there again. I don't think this was the same Applebee's I want to last night. I can't be for sure because all chain restaurants look the same. This time I ordered the 3-cheese pasta with grilled chicken. It wasn't wholly unpleasant but it tasted... boring. The girlfriend had chicken fingers and fries and I knew no excitement was coming from that. We also had the buffalo chicken strip appetizer (it was a poultry kind of night, I guess) and it came with a cup of oddly sweet blue cheese dressing -- like it was mixed with honey or something. For desert, she had the key lime shooter and I had the Applebee's version of molten lava cake. It was all very blah. A couple across the way apparently had a more unpleasant experience with food than us because the manager was at their table trying to placate them. The boyfriend looked pissed and the girlfriend looked like she was ready to chew her arm off to escape the restaurant. Although I only caught snippets of the conversation (due to the loud football game being shown at the bar), I figured their complaint had to do with the food rather than the service because the manager kept saying things like, "I'm sorry you didn't like it" and offered to bring them something different. He eventually offered to write off their meals and the couple left in a huff. Seriously, though, did they expect 5-star cuisine? I mean, I can understand being ticked if your chicken was raw in the middle but if you wanted it served with oil pressed from white truffles that were gathered in the middle of the night by virginal maidens and only from the forest on the south face of the French Alps and then sliced and pressed in a hyperbaric chamber, I hate to burst your bubble, but ya' ain't gonna get it from Applebee's.
