Poor service. Take out order was wrong (they repeated order back to us on phone - even giving correct total) but didn't actually make one of the puzzas. No apologies from takeout server and apparently I was bothering her by being in the restaurant. We just moved to area and have been trying out different places, mostly takeout. Benito's is definately better in both service and food. We will avoid Al's in the future.

I've never eaten in -- just had carryout pizza for lunch in the office. The one time I tried to stop in for lunch the wait was too long for us to stay. Their pizza tastes fine - nothing special - but it's always extremely greasy. Not a fan of having to blot the pizza before eating it.

Wow! Great experience! Food was great. Each staff member went out of their way to say "have a good one" as I left. Very satisfied.

I've had food delivered from the Al's Pizza Mandarin location twice and both times I thought the food was outstanding. When my last order was delivered, the delivery guy asked if he could come in and use my bathroom. I wasn't comfortable with that so I apologized and said 'no', tipped him and enjoyed my meal. Only to find out on the next call that my house is no longer in their delivery area. Huh?? After two previous deliveries? Oh well, no problem. I prefer not to spend my money where it isn't wanted.

I quickly fell in love with Al's pizza - it was literally love at first slice, well, pie...because I ate almost the entire thing. Whenever I go into the restaurant on Phillips Highway it's never too crowded and service is fast and friendly. I have noticed that the booths near the bar aren't usually as clean as the ones in the main dining area. I have found that there's been trash on the floor near or under the booth or they still need to clear and clean the tables. Have no fear, if you really desire to sit over on that side, you can always ask the staff to clean it and MOST of the time there's no attitude about it. When there is an attitude, I attribute it to them having a long day (I usually go in around 8 pm). One little surprise that I found to be delightful is the fact that they deliver!! On those lazy days, feel free to order Al's and enjoy from the comfort of your home or office. The one time that I ordered for delivery, the store manager was the person who brought my food. I thought that was impressive. There was an error on my bill where a coupon hadn't been reflected and when the manager got back to the store, he made sure to call me and let me know about the price adjustment that he made. How's that for professionalism? My only complaint is that the pizza isn't as hot and as fresh when it's delivered versus dining in. I think that's expected anywhere, though. Speaking of coupons, you can always find a few deals in the local MINT Magazine or Money Pages magazine. There's also a pretty super happy hour deal with beer for $2-$3 and $1 off wine. They even have pasta specials on certain days, and if you're anything like me, you'll be in pasta lover's heaven. It's the perfect way to unwind after work. The bottom line is if you want great pizza at an affordable price, go to Al's.

You can definitely find better priced pizza in town, but not much better tasting pizza. We love Al's meatballs, and sliced thin on a pizza they are especially good. We also love the buffalo chicken pizza. Sometimes the shredded carrots on top are a bit excessive, but overall the sauce is perfectly spicy and flavorful.

Always good food and good service. I wish they had a bigger variety of craft beer but I can live with what they have.

I'm from Orlando and this is my first time here. A friend met us so she was already waiting to be seated. Good crowd on a Friday for lunch. I'm going to assume it's really good. Server (Asia) came over and greeted us. Got drinks and took our order promptly. There is a yuppie kinda vibe going on with some light techno music you normally hear at a high end place but it's actually at a great volume. The lunch arrived pretty quick considering the place is packed. I ordered a slice of meat lovers pizza and it was very good! You can tell it was pre made and warmed up but still very good. All in all it was a good portion for a good price. I'd come back again if I was back in town

I've always been a fan of Al's. Sometimes it can be dicey, but usually they're spot on. This location is a little hard to get to depending on which direction you're coming from. Was meeting a girlfriend for a night out and needed somewhere central for both of us. I arrived early, but since they weren't busy I was able to grab a booth in the bar and hang out until she got there. They're specialty pizzas are the way to go. Some of the flavor combos may seem a little weird, but they're definitely worth trying at least once. Maybe it's just me, but this location looks a lot bigger on the outside than it actually is. There's plenty of room and it's not super crowded, but I just expect a bigger dining room every time I'm there and it's not as big as I imagine it being.

Absolutely love this place. Dollar slices after 8pm on weekdays and draft beer from Intuition Ale works make for a nice evening with friends n family. Service staff is very friendly and welcoming to kids.

This trip was poor. They sat me, five minutes no server. Sat two other tables next to me and server showed right up to the other tables. And the hostess looked surprised when I walked out.

Go anywhere else. Anywhere. Seriously. Crusty, dirty silverware, soiled napkins, cold food, and the WORST service. Our waitress never brought our drinks no matter how many times we asked, charged us for things we didn't order, and was snappy and rude as all hell. After dinner, we asked to speak to a manager. The kid at the front said he'd get him - the kid disappeared and we never saw a manager. It was heinous.

I went there on a random visit and wondered if it was related to the same one I had visited in Riverside. My arrival during lunch was well received and I was promptly seated in the front. My server seemed ready, willing, and able to to answer my questions about the menu as I ordered a simple NY-style Personal Pizza and a Greek salad to match it. The salad came out first in an abundance of colors and the pizza followed with a interesting look to it that made it appetizing. Both were good in their serving and taste. While I was there, two female versions of Felix Unger (an Obsessive-Compulsive character from "The Odd Couple" with a cleaning fetish) came in and sat two tables away from me. As their luck would have it, they had a new waitress who was all smiles, but short on experience in dealing with demanding customers nobody needs. As I was leaving, I motioned to the manager to step in on the new waitress's behalf because I could see it was going that way before one of the crazy customers would likely scream or all of the other patrons would walk out. In all, Al's was okay and I would return there in the future.

Today I had lunch here. The service was lacking a bit. However, the meal was pretty good. We had fried chicken pizza and a medium Hawaiian pizza. We enjoyed them both. We also tried the antipasto salad. Pretty filling.

I've enjoyed Al's for the past two Thursdays in a row because you just cannot simply beat their deals! Every Thursday is Thirsty Thursday and they offer $1 house wines & Yuenglings. Slices of pizza are only $1 after 8:00. This location is somewhat busy on Thursdays but I've been seated following less than a 20 min wait each time. Service can be spotty when they are busy but, once again, the inexpensive booze/food seems to help with patience. Last time I went, some girl friends & I shared the brushetta appetizer. The topping was simply delicious with fresh tomatoes, basil & feta. I had the greek salad for dinner and it was yummy as well. I think Al's will quickly become a favorite week night hang out spot.

I had lunch here, and noticed that my tortellini portion was a little on the small side. Dismissing this as a lunch portion, I returned for dinner, and ordered baked ziti, which was described as a "heaping portion". It wasn't even close. I'd call it a child's portion. I'm walking out hungry. I won't be back. The waitress actually asked me if I wanted a box. For what?

Ordered a pizza and garlic cheese bread to go. The bread was bad...I think overcooked because it was tough and the cheese rubbery. I'm sure it would've been better fresh, but just didn't stay hot on the drive back to our hotel. We ordered the chorizo pizza with red peppers and green olives. It was really good...definitely a unique flavor combination. The staff was prompt and friendly both on the phone and when I came in to pick it up. Would stop in here again next time I'm in Jacksonville.

I went here today for dinner about 4 PM with my wife and a couple of her work friends. The location was clean when I walked in and I was greeted as soon as I walked in. The restaurant was dead, only a couple of people so I took a seat and was helped in seconds by a really friendly waitress for drinks while I waited for everyone to show up. I had the lunch portion of Chicken Parmesan and I have to say it was really pretty darned good. The sauce was well seasoned and the chicken was tasty. The garlic bread was toasted but not bone dry. The ladies got pizza, lasagna and Eggplant Parmesan and all enjoyed it. The portions were perfect and the cost $5 was great. The restroom was clean and well maintained and I will certainly come back. Good job.

Had lunch there this week. Lunch menu is conveniently priced and sizes are appropriate. The pizza is not my favorite but it's good pizza. But let's face it...something really has to have gone wrong for a pizza to be bad. They actually have some lighter choices like wraps, salads & sandwiches. Had a great server today, very prompt & efficient. I cleaned my plate. Then I told the server I hated it. :)

there arent too many joints in jacksonville that have this type of venue. i would compare Al's Pizza to a smaller, less themed Mellow Mushroom. i would even compare it to The Loop, but specializing more in pizzas. i normally would not have tried a place like this on a weeknight, or any night really, but my wife had a gift card for the place so we tried it out. pizza was ok, my 10 year old ordered the kids lasagna which was a pretty good portion. they do serve wine, which is a plus since this is more of a take out/sit down place. over all, not bad. prices are reasonable. honestly though, unless we have a coupon or a gift card again, we probably wouldnt go out of our way to go back there.

Thirsty Thursday is such a great date night. Food is very good, service attentive, and the calamari is the best in town.

Not the al's I remember. Pizza was bland, sausage had no taste. Maybe the beach location is better. I'll stick with rennas.

For a chain restaurant, I was very pleasantly surprised by both the menu and quality. Nice family atmosphere. We'll definitely be back!

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
