Nice little pit-stop on the way to Key West, this spot has a great view overlooking the water and uber friendly service. I was a little saddened to see that the "fresh crab" sign at the door was just a decoration, but their grilled fish burger made me realize Mahi mahi can actually be juicily tasty, so all's good!

Got there seemed cute at 1st.. Bartender greeted us warmly, waitress takes order, my friend orders the Mac n cheese. From the menue for like 9$ . We ask about the size of the portion, order it . She leaves, we pick up the table top menue the mac n cheese is listed for 3.50. Did she mention this at all when we ordered, of course not, our chips salsa come out. ( heated up tostiots salsa, stale chips) we send it back. We ask why she didn't mention the other portion. Idk why. Her suggestive sales sucked!! Then we questioned her on the flub, she says oh, that's like a child size portion, thanks portion control! It was the grossest thing ever macoronni mush, consistency of mashed potatoes. For a barside meal, Hog I will never stray again. Btw we are not tourists so you def lost a few repeat customers

Fantastic lunch! We totally took advantage of the 1/2 priced burgers on Monday. We would rate this one of the best burgers anywhere in the country.

You can't just go once......you will keep coming back over and over!! We really enjoy this very quant restaurant on the water nestled between the Ocean and Bay. It's like coming to a family member and having home cooked food - it's always exceptional. Smuggler's Cove has superb food, fantastic ambiance, great service and entertainment - and the owners are always there to ensure you have a pleasant experience. Prices are very reasonable and happy hour is daily. This place just hit a home run at Mile Marker 85.5.

Our server Alex was relaxed but attentive to our needs. Extremely friendly and made our visit better than it would've been otherwise. The food was okay but the location was perfect for relaxation.

Stopped for lunch on NY eve, based on the excellent reviews (2 out of 4 lived in the vacinity - friends?) Staff very friendly and competent. Special (Mahi plate) price on outside menu board - $10. Price on daily special menu for same item - $13. Waitress said they hadn't updated the outside board (yet). $2 beer special was Belgin White ale - good. View not much - a short, wide canal connecting to a channel under Rt1, just to the right. Fish sandwich (Mahi) seemed fresh and was very tasty, but a bit chewy (from large fish?). Asked for "grilled lightly" and got it that way! (as opposed to all the other restaurants we ate at for the past week). Excellent slaw. Overall, a 3 or 4.

We live in Tavernier a few miles from Smugglers. My wife raves about their American Cheeseburger. It is almost big enough for two meals. Their cole slaw that can come with it is excellent. Conch Fritters are spot on!

Excellent stop on way to Key West. Had some calamari and conch fritters along with burgers. Great stop with clean toilets and pleasant service.

Slipped in here one evening to visit the bar - great spot on Snake Creek. Super clean bar with a dynamite shuffleboard table. Decent beer selection and we had some late night munchies that really hit the spot. Definitely worth a visit - we will be back for a meal.

Had the blackened mahi fish sandwich and slaw. The blackening season on the fish was great, spicy. The fish itself was a large portion and was moist and cooked perfectly on a nice bun with tomato, lettuce and tarter on the side. The coleslaw was a bit bland but fresh and crisp. The fries were alright, thin cut and crisp. My husband said they make a good burger. We plan on going back again soon. Update- been here a few more times. This place so far has the best burgers in the keys. I also tried the fish sandwich grilled instead of blackened but I didn't care for it as much, a little bland. I'd stick with the blackened fish.

We went to Smugglers on a tip from a local that there would be a great jazz band playing that night and boy did it not disappoint. Our server/bartender Teri was fantastic. The best we had on our trip by far! We ordered the tuna appetizer and it was delicious! We went back the next day to get it again but they were out of tuna and out server (not as good as Teri) recommended the conch fritters which we thought were just okay. Great view from the bar as you can watch the boats roll in with their daily catch! Overall, we enjoyed our time and will try to come back for that tuna again!

Excellent food, great prices especially during happy hour. The waitress was very nice and very informative, what else can I say but if you in the area you should try it won't be disappointed.

I recently stopped here for lunch and I was very impressed! The fish tacos were AMAZING, the service was great and the view can't be beat. It is immediately evident that the management is focused on having a friendly staff. Additionally, the ingredients were extremely fresh If you are looking for high end-style food without the high end prices or stuffy atmosphere, this place can't be beat. My one complaint (if you can even call it a complaint) is that there were blatantly too many servers working. At one point there were more servers than guests. In my experience, over staffing can lead to bigger issues than understaffing.

This place receives only one star and that's for our waiter who was very attentive. I have seen this place packed before, we spend a lot of time in the keys. So I was beyond disappointed. We spent the day on the boat and we were starving so we decided to stop. I honestly don't know where to begin. We ordered the salsa. It was water, literally a bowl of liquid. Then fish tacos, they smelled. The burger and fries we by far the most disgusting thing i have ever seen. It's like the plate was frozen and then warmed in the microwave. After all the beer was good. Thank god because it was from tap. I couldn't believe how bad it was I called over the waiter and let them know how terrible it was. No restaurant should ever produce food like that or receive a bad review. But this place just had a redo with new management. So I'm baffled. I won't be returning

This place has been a standard of local fare for years. Unfortunately, new ownership and management had issues and it closed, reopened, closed and has finally reopened with exceptional management. Service is excellent, the food is great and the beer is cold. The ceviche is their best appetizer and the conch/shrimp fritters follow closely. The critical piece in all of this is the new manager. I have been there several times in the past month and the man is always there, going from table to table to assure everyone is happy and satisfied. After you answer he asks if there is anything they can be doing better. That's the sort of dedication that has Smugglers moving to the top again.

Excellent new manager, Darryl, and excellent staff! Friendly, GREAT service and food! Great Happy Hour everyday. Music. New outside bar. We've been four times in the past week and we will definitely be back! You can even get "Saltwater Redneck" gear from Brittany, the owner/designer of this fantastic apparel and gear!

If your looking for a Miami or Ft. Lauderdale bar keep looking! If your looking for a home town locals bar, good prices on food & drinks look no further! I have been coming to Islemorada for over 15 years & seen places down here come & go. The improvements to this bar have been very welcomed. The food has always been what you would expect from a local bar. The fish is awesome and as reported the burgers are great for an area that is known for its seafood. Stop by the main bar & see Kit Kat the greatest bartender in the middle, if not all Keys! Tell her Spanky sent you! Sit back relax, that's what I do.

Two stars-one for a clean joint and one for my server who was friendly and attentive, but then again, it was lunchtime and I was the only table...during peak season?! I was really hoping this would be great since changing hands and a new makeover, but alas, they forgot one thing when making the menu-the locals! Who's going to pay these prices June through September? And I wouldn't mind the prices if the food was good. Sorry, but the fries suck. Suck-y fries? They're fried, the should be scrumptious. My advice...turn in further down the road. Your wallet and belly can thank me later.

Smuggler's Cove is now under new management. Major renovations with a new menu. The staff from the greeter, bartender and waiters were warm & friendly. Spent the afternoon at the Buoy bar on the water next to the bridge. Food was fresh, cooked to order, delicious, well seasoned and great presentation. Even had visit from chef. Took our suggestions and made our dish to perfection. Would return again.

Hard to find a place in the Keys that offer more than fish. Many types of burgers to choose from here, along with great basic bar food and blackened chicken. Cole slaw was sweet and juicy. The garlic parm chicken wings were great! They say their Key Lime pie won a prize but I didn't love the 2 inches of cream cheese topping.

Nothing special. Food was lower than average, service was poor. Over priced for what you get. I wouldn't go back.

Came here a couple of times while visitng friends in Islamorada. Super friendly staff, especaially Lindsey the bartender. First time we came in the kitchen had closed, but they reopened to serve us. Wow. Got the blackened mahi sandwich and it was superb. Conch fritters were also a hit, lots of conch in a perfectly fried dough. Lots of friendly locals, good bands, nice atmosphere. What's not to like?

Great food, great ambient. Live music. Perfect price. The night was perfect from the weather, full moon, food, everything. And the staff is super friendly. A place to go, or stop when you are traveling to or from the lower Keys.

The place is casual and near the docks, outdoor seating. Went there on monday early evening after driving back from Key West. I ordered the Mussells Diablo pasta dish from the evening specials. It was really good. Great red sauce with spicy kick. The dish is not on the regular menu but it should be.

Went there by chance and was pleasantly surprised. The food was great! The service however was a little slow. If they work on that they could have a packed place! Everything we ordered was delicious! Conch-shrimp fritters, fish tacos, snapper sandwich, chips n mango salsa, mahi fish sticks! The kids chicken nuggets and fries were also good!

Dolphin Appetizer tasted like it wasn't fresh which was unfortunate because I really wanted a dolphin sandwich so instead I went with a YellowTail Snapper Sandwich that was tasty. Also they had 2-1 happy hour which is very good. Also the bottle beers are ice cold.

Smugs is a local watering hole with good (surprisingly good) music, okay food, and okay beer. While nothing has a "wow" factor, nothing has been bad, whether it's food, service or drinks. I've been here quite a few times now (I'm a local) and I can't say I've had a bad experience. Last time here, like a douche, I got the steak. I expected the worst, but in all honesty it was pretty damn good. They hit the temperature spot on, it was trimmed well, and it wasn't dog-food quality. Of course though, this is the type of place that asks if you want A1 (just say No kids, just say No). Happy hour runs 5-7, and includes half price drafts, and a few other things. There's always a special, but even if you're drinking something different, it's still affordable. Maybe not cheap, but affordable. The Happy Hour food specials are average at best.

Bad from start to finish!! It is surprising since the reviews on yelp were good- but, I just don't understand how it could even be good at any time (& not just like it was just a once off). Bad service, bad food, bad restrooms, bad everything... Do not stop here!!!
