My wife and I stopped in to satisfy our Mexican food craving and we weren't disappointed. We especially loved the salsa they served with our chips, as it was more of a pico de gallo sauce with very fresh ingredients. We split a beef Chimichanga, which was a wise decision.......huge portion. The service and atmosphere were very pleasant. We didn't try the margaritas, so I cannot comment on them. Highly recommend this place for a stop!

I was part of an all girls Key Largo getaway and we decided on Mexican food after our drive from the Keys...WOW! The food 'Gods' made it happen for us and we found our way into PV. As stated in earlier reviews..we sat at the bar were immediately and pleasantly greeted by the cute bartender/waitress duo. Our drink orders were taken immediately and shortly after the DELICIOUS salsa and chips were served...YUM!! Each of us ordered a different entree so we could share. Soooo...we had shrimp fajitas (nice sized shrimp AND delish), shrimp enchilada (Delish!), chicken fajitas (LOVED IT..plenty of seasoned onions!) and last but not least..shrimp tacos (YUUUMM)! Great portions and let's not forget the guacamole!! They make it fresh daily and when we ordered it after 6pm...it was still green AND delicious as heck! :) My only con is don't order the 'pre-mixed' drinks. Have the capable bartender create your cocktail to order.

Didn't think it was possible to have such great Mexican food in Florida! But it's amazing! Fresh salsa, tacos served with fresh avocados. Excellent place don't miss it

The first thing I noticed besides the fact that it was very busy was that the place was very clean. The Mexican food is definitely authentic you could tell that right away also they make there own hot sauce "very good very spicy." The entrees come with generous portions and they are priced between 10 and 20 dollars. I had the Shrimp enchiladas with the Verde sauce, it was awesome. The rest of the people dining with us really enjoyed their food and couldn't stop talking about how good their Margaritas were. All and all I put it in my top ten for Mexican Restaurants.

I was reluctant to stop here because the reviews were kind of mixed. However, my husband was really in the mood for fajitas, so we decided to give them a shot. Boy am I glad we did. Amazing! I had the fiesta fish and it was tender, fresh and delicious. My husband's steak fajitas were not too shabby either. Service was polite and attentive.

Amazing. Great service. Excellent food. We had the Chili Relleno and Enchiladas Rojas and some very good classic margaritas. Alberto, our waiter, was fabulous and very helpful as was the host. A comfortable, inviting ambience makes this a must visit spot for tourists and locals alike. Will return as often as possible.

This was our post-elopement dinner stop, even though our limo driver warned it would be slow. That proved to be correct; the slowness worked to our favor though because the staff was extra attentive and the food quick. We had a slew of apps and dinner for each of us (including our awesome limo driver, John). The chips and queso were amazing, as were each of our dinners. I ordered the Enchiladas Mexicano and on top of being delicious, the topping sauce came out in the colors of the Mexican flag!!! The bridal party ordered pitchers of peach daiquiris, which according to them tasted horrible. The waiter took it back with no questions asked, and brought out a strawberry pitcher they all raved about. And the best part (since I was paying) is the cost was only $13!!! Any other place on the Rt 1 strip easily charges $10+ for a single daiquiri, so we really found a bargain. The decor was simple and classic Mexican. Food and service were both surprising. Aside from being a bit north of where the major resorts are located, absolutely no complaints here!

Kid friendly Mexican restaurant with a full bar and great staff. The food and price are great. They get really busy because they just opened but the last three times I have been here I have had no problems. They get the food out fast! Best is the location, needed a restaurant like this in Plantation key. They do have entertainment like Mariachi band and Karaoke nights. Not sure what else sense they have only been here a week now. Same people from north Key Largo and Homestead. Worth a visit!!

Read some mixed reviews about this place and decided to try it anyways on a Wednesday night. Greeted and seated quickly drinks and chips and salsa on our table within 5 minutes. I ordered a fiesta skirt steak burrito (not beef) my wife ordered shrimp tacos and a large margarita. Food came quick and very hot. prices are very reasonable and staff is very friendly. My wife doesn't like Mexican food all that much and being from California, I'm a Chevys guy.. That being said the portions and quality of the food were excellent. We have been to 2 other restaurants in the keys that supposedly had "fresh" seafood and after the first bite and the last bite my wife said 2 words. "Fresh". My burrito was amazing and I couldn't finish it.. I highly recommend it here. Your missing out if you don't try it. And there salsa is awesome and "fresh" also

The taco salad was super watery , the shrimp was good, taco nachos has lettuce on it so that was different. Overall not impressed and they don't give u normal sauce it's like pico without the spice

One of the nice Mexican food on the way to the keys. We found this place by accident on our way to Key West and enjoyed the food ambiance and service... Hot, spicy and tasty food... Yum !!

Quite possibly the worst Mexican food I've ever attempted to eat. We stopped through on our way home from the Keys. The margarita was orange juice (why???!!!!) with some sour mix and a spritz of tequila. Food was cold (like stone cold), even though we were the only ones in there (should have taken that as a sign). Maybe this place would be good late at night as a place to get wasted and have apps. Bleh.

Great seafood. Place is cozy and very Mexican. Huge plates that we couldn't finish for good price. Salad was really fresh ;)

Unfortunately I did not get a chance to fully try this place. It took 20 minutes to get drinks and queso was cold by the time we got chips another 20 minutes later. There was only one server for 10+ tables in busy season. Wasted an hour here. If your time is worth anything, try something else. Giving 2 stars bc the marg was good.

Patrons BEWARE!! My wife and I ate here and had our credit card charged three times for over triple the cost of our meal. I did not catch this on my credit card statement in time to dispute it, but when I brought it to the attention of the owner, he admitted (in writing) the mistake and promised to repay the overage. HA. It has been months, and all subsequent attempts to get him to own up have resulted in nothing but silence. Since we are out of state, he must feel he can get away with it. Please do not patronize this place, and if you do, watch your credit card!!

Food is nothing more than ok, the staff is friendly but maybe the slowest service I've experienced. Tried this place three different times and was disappointed each time. I wouldn't recommend this place, not when there is amazing local food for the same price and better service.

We are locals, but travel for long periods, so this was the first time that we could get to this restaurant. We went for lunch, and I had Tamales, my wife had a Quesadilla with chicken. Both were good. I expect my rating will improve after a few more meals there. Service was timely, but not pressing. There was a good selection of beers, with a fairly large bar in the back. There is a section for outdoor dining. Puerta Vallarta does breakfast, but they open at 11am, so for the late risers who want breakfast on Plantation Key, you are all set! My wife is not a big fan of Mexican or Tex-Mex, but she found several things of interest on the menu. She will probably have the ceviche next time, as that is one of her favorites! There is a happy hour from 4-7. They also do carry-out, but no delivery. The restaurant was very clean and colorful. Plenty of parking.

Excellent reasonably priced Mexican food in Islamorada. Had the fish tacos which were loaded with fresh herbs, veggies and great fish. Even came with rice and a salad. Perfect friendly service.

Well I can only assume the only other review is a friend of the place. I took my kids there for lunch today. The grilled chicken was a heavily pounded 2oz portion with re-fried beans that came from a burnt pan. All you tasted was the burnt pan. The chicken was covered in some red spice that was terrible. The rice plain nasty and as for the homemade guacamole, anything but home made, frozen and disgusting pre-made Sysco/GFS product. Within 10 minutes my daughter was sick from the food. Do yourself a favor and steer well clear.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
