What a great find! Yelp reviews led us here, but our experience will bring us back - probably a few times. We tried Bitton for breakfast, ordering forestiere and lorraine crepes, a cafe au lait, iced cappuccino and a grapefruit juice. Fantastic. Everything. Very generous servings and all very well done. We were very impressed and so bought additional cakes and pastries to go, which were delicious also. As we were relatively early in the day, we passed on gelato, but decided to call in on our way back to Islamorada from Key Largo a day later. The door was locked as I guess they had recently closed, but the owner was still in the restaurant and re-opened for a few minutes so my wife and I could get gelato. Really very kind and generous and the gelato was excellent, too. Very highly recommended - excellent, authentic food and wonderful, friendly service.

I was lucky to find out about this place! I came for breakfast and tried the Banania crepe - bananas and Nutella inside, drizzled with chocolate sauce. It was delicious, and I think there was the equivalent of a whole banana in there. The only drawback was the crepe was not actually hot - it was barely warm - so I wonder if it was not freshly prepared. It did come quickly, too - and this does seem to be a one-man show as far as food prep goes, so perhaps some corners are cut in this way. I'd be happy to wait for fresh food, but I suppose practicality won in this case. The hot chocolate does not come from a packet, it's made with real ground chocolate, and with thick homemade whipped cream on top, it was a wonderful treat and reminded me of the same in France. The one true downside for me was that although they have a "Croque Matin" on the menu (which was described as having the same ingredients as a Croque Monsieur", and they DO serve eggs in some of their savory crepes, they would not make a Croque Madame when I asked. It may that they ONLY scramble their eggs, but it is such a small request, I was surprised to be told no. Again, perhaps another way to preserve the chef's time. My small disappointment aside, I recommend this bakery/bistro nonetheless because the food was wonderful and everything is homemade. Just don't ask for anything not on the menu. ;)

We found this wondrous place quite by accident at the end of a stay in Islamorada. Magnificent accident! It is, in our opinion, the best breakfast in the keys, and you can throw in Miami too. If you are choosy about food, this should be your destination whenever you are in the Keys. The French owner/chef makes everything himself. The croissants are to die for, light, fluffy and fresh tasting. The buckwheat crepes are truly specially: savory, light as a feather. And the coffee - cafe au lait or espresso - magnificent! You can take home amazingly crisp baguettes, and pastries that will make you feel like you are in Paris for the first time. We were staying in Key Largo this trip, and decided to make the 40-mile round trip for breakfast. Frankly, we might consider coming here for breakfast from Miami! Oh, they have lunch too. That's all. We're at the counter now, selecting pastries to take to our friends who did not come with us.

Great place I needed something quick before I went on a scuba trip and this place just hit the spot. They have ice coffee and crepes which is a hard find around these parts. Food came out insanely fast fresh and and a good price. This place is a must stop if going out on the water for the day.

Love love love!!! Yummy yummy for my tummy! We where driving through Key Largo then hit Islamorada looking for a place that didn't have fish food, because of allergies, and found this little gem. A true gem. At first glance it doesn't look like they actually sell food, it only looks like they sell pastries. Boy where we surprised to see the menu. We had awesome sandwiches as our meal and nutella croissants to follow as desserts, simply delicious! The staff is super friendly, very attentive to filling water, drinks, bringing anything you need. I can't wait to go back! Thank you for being such an awesome little place and serving such amazingly delicious food! You made our trip even more unforgettable!

Cute,quaint place for breakfast or lunch. very local and very nice. believe its a husband-wife team....he does the cooking..she takes care of customers.he wears a beret...you might swear you were in Paris. We were passing through at lunchtime...I had an out of this world roast beef baguette..wife had a turkey baquette. ingredients were incredibly fresh and delicious. I asked for a lemonade..what I got was an authentic lemon soda imported from france...memorably good. local art work lines the walls...seating is comfortable...very positive experience. perhaps a tad pricey...but worth it!!

Bitton is amazing! So we went in for a lunch and opted to get some savory crepes and one massively decadant nutela version! Additionally, they don't serve the normal soft drinks but instead offered us this brand I hadn't heard of, called Grown Up Soda. It was fun and tasty! Normally if a place has house made soda, it's some bland fizzie stuff with like crushed ginger in it. Anyway, the real start was the Nutella crepe. They were kind enough to split it for us onto two plates (by the way as a dessrt I reccomend splitting this monster!). It was my first foray into the Nutella world and it was fantastic. Next time I'm in Islamorada, I'm heading back to Bitton.

completely legit french cafe. Michel is fast, authentic and uses only the finest ingredients. I can't rave enough about the food. We got two crustless quiches and a "Milan" sandwich. all fresh, all delicious. If you don't get one of his smoothies while here also, then just give up on life.

Oooh yes! Bitton is a wonderful little bistro with coffee, pastries, scrumptious breads & house made gelato. We had breakfast at Bitton while vacationing in Islamorada. They made a perfect cappuccino - soft foamy cup with a deeply flavorful pour of espresso in it. I tried their croissants and a macaron, a good test of how French a French chef really is. They both passed with 5-star quality! (If you read some of my reviews, you'll notice I have a thing for macarons, including sweating it out trying to make them). My husband had a breakfast sandwich which was well crafted, with fresh and flavorful ingredients. I had a crepe, which was also perfectly made. Neither of us had room for gelato, but we wouldn't expect anything short of deliciousness if we happen to go back there.

They serve no traditional american sodas, so i was properly prepared for a culinary adventure! My beef with barley soup was served very hot and overloaded with rich beef flavor! I was a bit disappointed the entrees came out almost right after the starters, not allowing me to really savor the soup before cutting into the crepe. The crepe Lorraine I ordered was 1/2 inch thick folded on the plate and extended over both corners! The greuyer cheese, ham, and egg were nicely distributed within the cocoon of the soft, spongy crepe. The egg was slightly unfinished, but the crepe quickly absorbed it! The staff (of one plus the French owner) was attentive and knowledgeable. The atmosphere however was a bit of a mix. The purple accented white slat walls and plastic chairs lend more to a TCBY than a French bistro, but the chalkboards calling out menu favorites are very nice and the display cases of baked treasures are mouth-watering! The Gelato display case that greets you when you walk in is an interesting, unexpected, and welcome additon.

Michel was very friendly and greeted us immediately after we walked in the door. You can tell how much he loves this restaurant of his with his enthusiasm as he offers you some suggestions on what to get. I started with the fresh squeezed orange juice & my hubby had a cappuccino with fresh grated chocolate on top. Both the orange juice and cappuccino were very good. My husband stated it was the best he had ever had. Michel gave us sometime to choose which crêpes we would like. We decided to go with one savory & one sweet. So we chose a ham, egg & gruyere cheese crêpe this had just the perfect amount of filling. Nice gooey cheese perfectly cooked crepe. And we also chose the South Beach filled with fresh diced mangos and shredded coconut topped with whipped cream and key lime gelato....Oh my God it was heavenly. We did purchase some beautiful croissants but for got them at my Cousin's so she got to enjoy them while I listened to my husband complain for two days about his chocolate croissant..... Oh well! We will most certainly be back to visit Michel and his beautiful and tasty store...Bon Jour for now...

Went with family for breakfast around 9 on a Saturday morning and the place was EMPTY. Before we even ordered our breakfast, my family was raving about how the place should have a line out the door. Great smoothies. Great gelato. Great pastries. Great coffee. PHENOMENAL CREPES. And...MACAROONS! Probably the only place within a 50 mile radius with those little cookies :) May be a little bit pricey but lovely overall.

Great tasting food in a nicely decorated environment. There is even an area for toddlers to sit/play and eat by themselves. We stopped in for a quick lunch after 2pm after some sightseeing. The place was not busy. We ordered crepes and a quiche. Both of them were great. Also tried the apple strudel and melon ice cream which were very good. Also chatted with the chef/owner and the waitress. The chef's been cooking for about 30 years.

Worth every penny! This place is perfect for breakfast. We ordered an espresso, the ham crepe and salmon on a croissant. The portions are generous but the quality is where its at. I plan on going back!

Stick to coffee and croissants and the friendly waitress, those are 5 star material. When you talk about ordering from the menu, that's when the stars drop off. The egg crepe had undercooked (runny yolk and white) in it and the lemon and sugar crepe came off plain and sour because it was just lemon juice squeezed on top with a little powdered sugar, versus creating a lemon and sugar filling. Biggest complaint is the nickel and diming. Whipped cream is offered by the waitress as if it's an included option, but in reality it's $2. Jam with the croissant? Same: offered as an option but really $1.50. Overall, we would go back, but with a more informed perspective.

Fantastic! Everything we ordered was delicious and vegetarian friendly. We had the spinach quiche, Capri sandwich, mango-banana smoothie, papi crepe for desert with tiramisu gelato and we bought pastries to go for the following morning. The owner is very friendly and accommodating. The food is very fresh, the freshest food we have had in the Florida Keys. We are leaving tomorrow, I wish we had discovered this place earlier. We received a glowing recommendation about this charming place in Islamorada and had a chance to visit it last weekend. We were charged with ordering sandwiches for a boating trip with some French friends - a tough crowd. Bitton Bistro Cafe was the perfect choice. The night before we went through the menu and made decisions. Called up the next morning and ordered -- great young lady took the order. We get there and Michel Bitton is finishing up the sandwiches; so I order a cappuccino and two pain au chocolat for my wife and me (later on the pain au chocolat). Sandwiches perfectly wrapped in a bag and off we go. Capuccino was delicious and the petit pain au chocolat were amazing. Perfectly crisp on the outside and exquisite on the inside. As good as you get in France. The sandwiches: we were all on the water and hungry so perhaps the senses were on fire but these sandwiches were outstanding. My wife and I ordered the Lyon - baguette with rosette de lyon hard salami, gruyere and dijon. Simple but amazing. Baguette was extraordinary even in the heat and humidity of the Keys. Others had the Paris - french ham with gruyere and dijon - and the Rustic - pate, dijon and cornichons. The friend who recommended Bitton says the crepes are amazing. Highly highly recommended.

Authentic, Amazing food! Everything is made in house except for the cakes. He has gluten free options. He imports his ingredients from France and Italy so everything is free of antibiotics, chemicals and additives. Your taste buds will thanks you. Big portions.

Who randomly decides to "take a drive" down the Overseas Highway from Miami down past the 7-Mile Bridge? This Gal. And who realizes, halfway down, that caffeine would have been a good idea? Right again. SO. In a land (mercifully) void of Starbucks, enter Yelp. And thanks, Yelp. This coffee hit the spot. We met the baker/owner, who just took so much pride in talking about his creations and recipes, and was only too happy to provide us with a little jolt to keep us alert on that long, long, spur of the moment drive. What started as a promising meal went quickly downhill once I turned to the side salad next to the crustless quiche. Underneath was a brownish / blackish mess of rotten greens. I picked them out - literally half the salad - and sent them back to the cook who simply said it was caused by the heat from the microwaved quiche. Ugh. He then proceeded to argue and said he'd "replace" the salad. So what's wrong with this? First he heats the quiche in a micro wave and second he dismisses the fact the greens were spoiled. They were not wilted by heat in the least - they were simply spoiled and should not have left the kitchen.

This place deserves recognition and is well worth every penny. Came in with 4 adults and 2 kids, and everyone left happy. We had a couple of bad dinners in Islamorada so we were pleased to find this spot. Crepes were delicious, smoothies were good. The cappuccino was great especially after drinking bland hotel coffee all week. We came back a second time to try their croissants. They were awesome; all sweet, buttery and crispy. They looked beautiful behind the glass case with the other baked items. If I'm ever down here again I will make it a point to stop in! Service was good too. I'm sorry I didn't try the gelato but I doubt it's homemade so hopefully I didn't miss out. Oh, and they also have a bunch of kid toys toward the rear of the cafe which enabled us to stay and enjoy breakfast a bit longer.

Amazing food, excellent and friendly service from the owner. We were skeptics judging from the outside of the building but gave it a shot and so glad we did. Pricey for breakfast but worth every bite. Portions were generous as well. We ordered the Lorraine crepe, the Shirley crepe, and the quiche of the day. Oh my god I am so glad we found this place. It's such a perfect, random find on our trip along the Florida Keys. It's a legit French bistro with two French-speaking guys running the show. We ordered a nutella/strawberry crepe, and a spinach, sundried tomato pesto, cheese crepe. They were HUGE and oh so tasty! Not to mention fresh-- they went straight from the skillet to our table, and the spinach used was not frozen. Perfectly crafted. Although we were completely stuffed afterwards, we still ended up ordering half a dozen extra pastries for the rest of our roadtrip. I want this bistro to move north a few states so I can experience crepes like this all the time :)

EXCELLENT! Met the chef & he takes great pride in his food. And I certainly tasted the LOVE! I had the spinach quiche. It was moist, airy & seasoned to perfection. A crisp side salad was perfection as well. Then I finished my meal with a simple crepe. It was just lemon & sugar. And it was awesome. Clean, light, airy & wonderful! My other half had the crepe Nutella w/ strawberries. He was in heaven as well. A gem of a joint in Islamorada!

A delightful treat after a day of snorkeling! The sandwiches featured true deli meats of the utmost quality and a Brie that you can't find anywhere these days. The homemade gelato was made even better by the owner/chef Michel with a unique charm that truly makes this place like nothing else. I wish we lived closer so that we could visit more often. Our only gripe is the price. It is without a doubt on the higher side. A lunch for 5 ended up at $110. A little too steep for the amount of food.

Stopped in real quick on the way to the airport, perfect location right on the side of the hwy. Everything is remarkably fresh; the shrimp quiche was divine, made just that morning, the pastries had a perfect soft flake. The French community is bigger and more beautiful than you think, yo. Craving a large cup of steaming coffee, we stopped by on our way to Key West, and were welcomed by an appetizing display of croissants, pains au chocolat and other sweet and flaky wonders of the French pastry repertoire. There's more than one way to skin a cat (and I don't want to know anything about that, thankyouverymuch); the owner, originally from Casablanca, Morocco, left his restaurant in snowy Montreal to open this cutesy little spot in Islamorada. Nice move, fellah. The café au lait was wonderful, the pastries, just sweet enough and the crepes sounded pretty tasty to my famished, fasting stomach.... And it's always nice to start the day speaking your native language. A must when staying in the area.

Unfriendly and unknowledgable server. She couldn't answer our question about how the cappuccinos are made and what the wifi code was. Very odd. Then our crepes came out overcooked. I've been to France multiple times and this was probably the least impressive crepe I've ever had! The chocolate twist pastry was delicious.. The icing on the cake was the manager calling us out on how much we tipped this server. Which I find completely inappropriate! It's our right to tip according to service. If the staff does not know what they are doing, I'm not going to tip them the full amount..

Fabulous stop! Most tasty coffee we've ever had (and we know coffee!) with super-sized smoothies and delectable food. My husband had the salmon crepe with capers and goat cheese, which was a wonderful marriage of flavored and I had the crustless spinach quiche, which was light and tasty. Our 12 year old had the banana and Nutella crepe, which overflowed the plate and was full of filling. We also tried the fresh baked pastries, which were flaky and delicious! Will return before we head home Saturday.

If this is the way the French do breakfast and lunch, I am a convert. I have a serious appetite and was a bit concerned upon entering. Frilly ice cream/gelato stands don't do it for me because they never give you enough food and ordering multiples of things makes you look like a pig. And, when i walked in the place -that's exactly what I saw. I carefully surveyed the accommodations, decor, & gelato.... "Oh boy" I said, "slowly back out of the entrance, -no one will notice and you can try someplace else", I thought to myself. Alas, my friend sat down at a table. Ugh! I was stuck, and there was no going back. Now my expectations were that I was going to have to eat like a hobbit. I'd have to eat here for lunch, and then have another meal (2nd lunch) to supply me with enough nourishment to ward off the inevitable starvation headache, Uh no.... Lucky that didn't happen. Generally, I don't like breakfast for lunch, but for those that are interested the menu had quite a selection of both sweet and savory crepes. Because I was really hungry (for protein) I opted for a lunch sandwich. The "Lyon" sandwich + salad was impressive.... that little baguette filled with hard salami TOTALLY filled me up. Even better, it came with a salad vs. the usual 'fries' option which is an extra 250 calories of unnecessary filler. Upon completion, I couldn't help but add a chocolate croissant and an expresso. I didn't add them because i was hungry, but only because I was curious, and I don't get the opportunity to have a chocolate croissant very often. Well, I've got news for you. The croissant wasn't a leftover...usually you get the ones that are 3 days old and that are totally dried out and disappointing. This one, was fresh! BTW, the expresso was the real deal. My friend got a coffee, and said that it would have jump started a dump truck. I don't mind paying more when I get better quality food using better ingredients. In my opinion, I think this was better quality. This place did not have the huge portions that I normally think of when I am trying to quench a serious hunger, but whatever it was....it worked for me. I'll be back.

Thanks to yelp, we found this gem of a place while staying in the Islander Resort just down the road. Looking for great coffee and authentic and delicious crepes? Quiche? Sandwiches? Gelato? Look no further! Went twice on our trip; once got two absolutely scrumptious authentic French croissants and Cafe au lait to go, and brought my BF back the next day for Crepes. He had the Forestiere, an d I had one with fresh spinach, bechamel and swiss-- both giant and fantastic. Atmosphere was cheerful, with colorful paintings and art from local artists. Awesome gelato selection from a case up front., front case jam packed with french breakfast pastries. Best coffee around. Personable owners. Low key and helpful. Only downside was the price-- we got two coffees (american) and were charged 4.00 each! Ouch! If i had known that I would have gotten a smaller one, or a different drink. The crepes were also pricey- but so delicious that we just dealt with it. I also got a Pate sandwich to go, complete with small pickles and authentic french mustard on thin baguettes which came with a small side salad-- just wonderful! YUM!

I love your quiche. It s fresh and home made , the smoothies are delish. I can't wait to try the crepes. This place is also astonishingly clean. The guy that is usually working is super helpful. Very chill vibe. Never real busy but the inside is very large and stark white with purple. There are chalk boards hung and highlighted in neon greens and brights with menu items and a tropical mural painted on the back way. Everything is out in the open the kitchen/ prep area. They also have a gelato section at the entrance,tons of seating inside. Not a usual run down breakfast spot that is so familiar in the keys. Huge heaping of any of their variety of quiche comes with a side of mixed greens with a balsamic dressing. I would definitely stop here for a great breakfast /brunch everyday. Ask for the Berry smoothie. I am addicted.

Food is good, but not worth the price or attitude of the manger. BEWARE THEY ARE TAKING ADVANTAGE OF TOURISTS! Service was okay until we got the bill. Watch out when paying your bill. I'm presuming it was the owner Michel, tried to over charge us on our bill. It was a group of 5 of us and we checked the bill and many of the crepes did not match the menu price and there were added extras that were not discussed before charging. Michel got frustrated when we asked about the pricing and said he'd take off $2 with an attitude (there were many more up charges). Not to mention, we were charged 20% gratuity on the total bill including tax; the menu stated automatic gratuity to parties of 6 or more, we were 5 people. He had such an attitude and said we should have known because he always adds 20% gratuity when sitting at one of the larger tables and demanded every penny. Needless to say, food is good, but not worth the price or attitude of the manger. Beware, they're looking to take advantage of tourists.

5 stars for food, coffee, and service. We had cappuccino and cafe au lait--tasted just like we were back in Europe. Quiche and crepe also delicious--large portions (perfect for lunch, but larger than we needed for breakfast). 4 stars for setting, nice and clean enough for sure and nothing they can do about lack of view and /or road noise. Super, casual, cool place for a nice taste of Europe in the Keys.

Really , really good crepes. GREAT coffee as well. Very friendly owners. Lots of parking. Easy to miss if you are just driving by route 1. Overall a great place to get breakfast or brunch.

It would seem I am one of few people who weren't totally thrilled with this place. That isn't to say I didn't like it - when you walk in it appears to be a quaint little place, just one man and a shop full of pastries and gelato and coffees. However, we had come here on the recommendation of a local that they had excellent key lime pie. This turned out to be untrue. While it wasn't entirely disappointed, my hopes of enjoying a slice of authentic key lime pie while in the keys were dashed when the small, $8 slice of pie was set in front of me. The presentation was nice I suppose - it was like a slice of key lime cheesecake, garnished with a bit of creme anglaise and cacao powder and a small dollop of homemade whipped cream. In New Orleans, people would love this shit. But I wasn't in New Orleans, and this really wasn't what I had wanted. Nevertheless I ate it, and it was so sweet. I mean stomach-turning sweet. I'd probably have been better off getting a bag of sugar and a spoon. While the other dishes here may be good, the guy really should not sell what he calls key lime pie - it's terrible. That being said, I liked the decor and the guy, who I assume was the owner, was really polite. If fancy french dining is your thing, go here. If you want key lime pie, go anywhere but here. Also, you should probably be rich if you want to eat here. That probably explains why my friends and I were the only ones here besides the owner.

This is a great little French Bistro in the heart of the Keys. if you tire of the usual Key's fare then sto pin for crepes and sandwiches. the wife has the tuna crepe, i had the bananna/nutella and the kids had the nutells/strawberry and the ham/cheese crepes respectively. The cafe au lait is perfect, strong yet smooth like is should be. Service was prompt, knowledgable and up to par. Overall a great experience.

Your best bet on Islamorada for really good coffee (I'm a bit of a coffee snob and I was satisfied!), real French baguette (not the Wonder bread kind), real croissants (actually crispy on the outside!), and all without the French service, which, for my American preference, is a good thing, after having dined in Paris restaurants for a week. The only downside is its pricey, even compared to Manhattan. But, hey, this is the Keys and everything is priced higher here relative to 98% of US. Just set your expectations accordingly and it won't seem so bad!

Such a great little place in Islamorada. Excellent pastries. A blueberry cake/pie that is out of this world. Great expresso. good service. Clean, bright, modern decor. Large ice cream/gellato choice. I have not tried any of the savory items so I cannot comment but they do look good. Excellent place to stop if you are staying near by or just passing by. Probably the best little spot between South Beach and Key West.

Brightly lit and inviting, Michel was busy making those craved for crêpes that people come here for. It wasn't busy yet and service was prompt. Everyone found something on the menu the enjoyed, even those who didn't think they could. Those on gluten free diets had the Buckwheat crêpes and normal for the rest. I chose the Papi, consisting of Nutella, strawberries and bananas. Fantastic! The pastries smelled wonderful and the gelato looked delicious. People trickled in and out on their usual morning routines getting coffee and pastries, while breakfast in a slower manner was enjoyed by others. With a happy, smiling face, it's clear to see that Michel loves what he does. Even though his sign says "Never trust a skinny cook", he can be trusted.

Michelle the owner is a kick in the pants, very funny. MUST stop here, dramatically better than tourist traps in the keys.

Heading north I needed a cup of joe for the drive. We yelped for a coffee place and this place came up. Wow, good call yelpers. Excellent call, actually. Great coffee and French stuff. Pastries galore. A taste for everyone. A must stop when on the road.

Have you ever been hungry at an odd hour during the day...too late for lunch and too early for dinner? Well I was in that predicament when I was inIslamorada for a wedding. Found Bitton's and what a find! My husband and I stopped here and got the best multigrain croissant I have ever had. Who knew multigrain and croissant ever went together. The croissant was flavorful and just yummy. I had the cream of zucchini soup. This was by far, one of the best soups i've ever had not complicated favors, all the ingredients worked together to make a bowl of goodness! Tasted like something a French grandmother would have made. My husband had the goat cheese soufflé. He said it was delicious. If you find yourself in Islamorada, make sure to pop in and grab a snack!

My (German) boyfriend and I ate here on our way out of the Keys, after stopping to look at the Indonesian furniture place next door. Bitton is a testimony that simple food made with the best ingredients can beat out complicated every time. My sandwich had a grand total of FOUR ingredients: roast beef, cheddar cheese, dijon mustard and panini bread. It was served with a simple salad of mixed greens, grape tomatoes and homemade vinaigrette. The ingredients were of such high quality, though, and so fresh, that that became one of the best lunches I've had in ages. (My boyfriend said the bread "tasted European", which after a couple of weeks of sugary, spongy sandwich slices was a high compliment from him.) The other reviewers here say it all about the amiable owners and sunny setting. All I can do now is say well done and thank you to the owners!

We love this little place, the Crepes and quiches are delicious. The quiche is a decent portion and doesn't have all the crust traditionally found on quiche. They also have a large selection of sandwiches on heavenly bread! The pastries are baked freshly, the gelato is the best outside of Italy, and the deserts are amazing. Whenever we make a run down to Islamorada, we're sure to plan time to stop. It's so good!
