Java Surf was a nightly venture for my family while on vacation. Their clean shop, and great service kept us returning night after night. After our vacation we even bought a shaved ice maker to keep some of the memories of our time there. We don't have the recipes of the flavors that they have, but its a nice thing to remember that there is java surf, even if it is 1300 miles away.

My kids love this place and go w/ friends all the time, but until Sunday I'd never been. The gang ran over while I placed our order for Bizarro's and I followed shortly to pay :) Like the set up - the design, the mix of materials, the beautiful tile work. It's a coffee shop, smoothie place and shave ice rolled into one. There is an outdoor walk-up order window, but the inside is suprisingly spacious. Lots of spots for big & small groups alike. Great location for them as it's right on the beach, we got parking but I can imagine it'd be difficult on a sunny day - but that's why God made bikes. My kids got some sort of strawberry smoothie (sorry don't know the name) and it was tasty. A great consistency, and very flavorful. True strawberry flavorful. They weren't cheap on the sizes either - I appreciate that (being the wallet and all). Having lived in Hawaii and addicted to Matsumoto's I'm slightly nervous about trying the shave ice - how do you beat perfection? But the peeps in front of us ordered some and I will admit - totally tempted. We'll be back. Possibly by bike, prolly salivating, definitely interested.
