Great dive burger joint. Cold beer- cash only -pay at the end. Love it.

If you love a perfectly executed burger, ice cold draft beer and a kitschy and friendly atmosphere, Skinnys is not to be missed. Bring cash and be prepared to watch the entire staff sweat with effort to deliver great service. You won't find a team that works harder.

Great place to grab a burger! Cash only. Very beachy casual little place. Got pretty hot inside but they had fans on. Seating inside and outside. Definitely recommend grabbing a burger, beer, and onion rings for lunch!

Look up the word "Dive" in the dictionary and a picture of this place might be next to it but the burgers are EXCELLENT! The folks with me who had the iced tea said it was delicious. The other drinks (besides tea) are served in bottles (so obviously no refills on those) The fries were very good and the onion rings were fantastic! If you're staying on the island, be sure not to miss this place (reminder... It's cash only)

My favorite dive bar ever. Fantastic burgers and incredibly friendly staff. Frequented mostly by savvy locals and lucky tourists who stumble in. I live two hours away and still manage to make it in once a week..what does that tell you....of course, being across the street from the beach doesn't hurt. If you're anywhere near Anna Maria, do not fail to check this place out.

  • Burne H.

I hope the burgers are great cause the bartender is horrible - AVOID - better staffed places to eat - can only get better when the food arrives hopefully.

  • CF C.

"Awesome greasy burgers" just about sums it up - if you like "Five Guys" burgers this tasted very similar to me. Location - across the street from the beach - its basically an old-Florida style shack with a screened in porch - cash only. Nothing fancy but when hungry I'd eat here again

  • Chad N.

We got there early... Got busy after we were there.... Took about 45 min for food for 6...2 adults and 4 kids.... Not quick... But not too long either.... Nice feel to the place.... Like being on the beach at a little burger Shack.... Burgers were good.... Chicken tenders good for the kids.... Family of 6 with a couple of beers came to 55$ or so.... If we are ever back we will eat again....

If you want a great beach bar with a great simple burger, this is the place. Great place to chill and meet up with friends. Always one of my first stops in Anna Maria

Been coming here since 2004. Burgers are uniformly great, though they do vary a bit in quality depending upon who's' running grill. great casual, no frills burger and beer joint. No a/c, cash only, lots of locals and tourists as well, closed on Mondays, limited menu, coke and sodas in real glass bottles, wobbly bar stools, and sand everywhere: just what I'm looking for when I'm hungry and thirsty at lunch and don't want to dress up or think about healthy foods. The fries were disappointing on Sunday, though, hope that was a one day aberration, usually they're perfectly cooked.

  • David M.

Tough in the summer since its just a screened in porch and very hot. Service and flies can be hit or miss depending on time of year. Sit quietly at your take and you'll likely be ignored. Local bar stool dwellers definitely get priority, but such is the charm of such a place. Beyond the "local charm", burgers are just ok and beers are cold and tasty, but overall overpriced for what you get. A couple of beers and hamburgers and one order of fries ran us $25. Not terrible, but a little high for no a/c and basically waiting on ourselves via the bartender. Worth going once just to check it out for yourself.

    (3)
  • Keith M.

Not a bad spot. It seems a bit of a locals hangout. You need to be skinny to squeeze into one of the stools at the bar. With that said - the Heinekin's were a good price and the service was pretty quick. The place had about 20 people or so and it was stuffed.

Awesome greasy burger, Fun frosted beer mugs, and retro cokes in glass bottles. We enjoyed this place, but the parking is awful, so walk from the beach. Also, prices are high for such a dive, we spent 30 dollars and only had two burgers and two cokes. I don't regret it, though, and I will be going back. Don't forget they are closed on Monday!

  • Greg A.

Best selection of draft beers in the area. Big Wave being one of my personal favorites. Their mugs are extra frosty which is perfect for the weather. I ended up getting the bacon cheeseburger which was delicious. The patty's are on the thinner side so I suggest getting the double if you have an appetite. 4/5 stars only because it's a little cramped inside but you gotta expect that with good burger joints.

    (4)
  • Jim S.

Beer was cold and the food was good. Defiantly not a fancy place but very relaxing. The only accept cash.

    (4)
  • Lydia C.

Dive bar little joint with the best burgers! I had the double cheeseburger and it was amazing! I highly recommend this place if you are in the mood for a juicy burger!

    (5)
  • Nicole C.

The BEST dive bar in the world (in my opinion :) ) Go here for three reasons -- 1. Atmosphere -- Located directly across from the public beach, guests are welcome in beach cover-ups and flip flops. 2. Burgers! Best ever! I can get great burgers in Chicago, but I dream of the burgers at Skinny's. And, don't forget an order of onion rings -- also very good. 3. Ice cold beer in a frosty mug. Sodas come in original soda bottles -- and you can ask for these in a frosty mug too. If you're on Holmes Beach or Anna Maria Island, I would HIGHLY recommend stopping here. It is the perfect beachy-island dining experience.

This was a super cute stop while at the beach. We weren't exactly sure of protocol (seat yourself? Pay at the bar? Cash only at the bar?) but the team was friendly and low key and we sorted it all out. The restaurant is cash only for everything. You order at the bar, give your name, and they'll call you once it's done. You can sit anywhere. The food was so perfect for after a day at the beach - surprisingly fresh and simple. The tomatoes were the juiciest and ripest I've seen all summer. The burger was hot and juicy and better than something you just took off the grill at home, but still had that homemade feel. Fries and onion rings were made fresh to order and were hot and crispy. Loved it. It was such a quencher to get my cola served in a glass bottle. Everything was great. Definitely stop by if you don't feel like cooking - we saw a lot of people taking bags to go, too! I can definitely see this being an island tradition for those who come annually.

Throw on your bathing suit cover up, put on your flip flops and grab your dog, it's burger time! A definite must-eat! These burgers are a classic - just like the place that sells them. This place is the "meat and potatoes" of AMI. This is the true island flavor.... funky little shack with great greasy burgers and beers. It is literally a TINY shack -- chicken wire as windows, cement-sandy floors and about 4 picnic tables crowded into a little area also considered the bar. And yes, doggies are allowed in and around the premises. This place is always slammed. If you're a bit claustrophobic not to worry, there are more picnic tables outside. One of my faves is the soda in the glass bottles, so so good. The fries (curly or regular) and the onion rings are all cripsy and deee-lish. It's the prefect place to grab a bite after a full day of fun in the sun. The best is that you don't have to hit the shower and get dressed before you can eat.... just put on some flops and head on over, they don't mind :) Super local beachy burger shack, can't get much better than this! Just remember to bring cash - no cards accepted.

After years of vacationing to the Island we finally stopped after my brother recommended it. Yes the flies are bad,but i kind of expected that. The burger wasnt that bad, definitely not the best as Ive heard, but every cook has a bad day so who knows. Main reason I will never go back, was the service.Girls were really nice to everyone slamming beers but our family was ignored, then we were over charged for our meal.Asked to have it corrected and were treated like we did something wrong.

  • Dennis G.

This is a dive that has Great Burgers. You walk in, get a menu .... order at the bar and then wait for your meal. The Cheese burgers are to die for. The Bacon Cheese burgers were great. Onion Rings were delish. The only downside was the tables were not adequately cleaned. The pricing is appropriate for what you get. If you like burger dives and don't mind getting messy. This is the place.!!! NOTE: Cash only

    (4)
  • B W.

Best burgers on the island, no doubt!

    (5)
  • Josh H.

Can't beat the location right off the beach.... Burger and fries are good but not mind blowing.

    (3)
  • Catherine R.

Little shack-type beach dive - cute and welcoming. Pretty darn good burgers! Husband and I split a pitcher of cold beer and that coupled with the burgers hit the spot after kayaking. The prices seemed a little high, and as noted - cash only, but a definite must try.

    (4)
  • Aaron F.

Great burgers, good beers, kid friendly. A hole in the wall we love to frequent. As said before, cash only.

I''m always on the hunt for a great cheeseburger. Getting one in a really, really cool dive bar in a really cool beach neighborhood, its a win, WIN. Really!

    (5)
  • Sally S.

Yum. Loved everything about this little burger and beer shack. Definitely put it on the list for your trip to AMI. Beware of crowds of course. Crowds (and bees) gather where the food is good.

    (5)
  • Kris K.

Packed house, tables turned over multiple times. Lots and lots of take out orders. We had a party of 10, called ahead. They sat us when they said they would. Everyone enjoyed their meal. The ribs were tender, fall off the bone. Very good.

  • Cadence B.

I always love Skinny's when I come down here. Great burgers with great fries and onion rings. They also have cold PBR which always makes me happy.

    (5)
  • John S.

A great burger place on Anna Maria Island. They only take cash and don't have air conditioning but they have good outside seating and some inside seating. I go with my family every time we meet at the island. The food was very good and satisfying after a long day at the beach. I definitely recommend this place if you will be on the island.

    (5)
  • JONATHAN G.

great local spot...cash only ...food and drinks were great...always come here when visiting AMI with family Sit outside at the tables and sand and dont feed the birds

    (5)
  • Whitney E.

Every time I come to Anna Marie island I know to bring some cash because I'm definitely coming here! The burgers are nothing special and I think that's what makes them so eff'ing good!! The atmosphere is great! Picnic tables and fans everywhere in this little shack! Even if you don't drink beer you'll probably love it.. The ice cold mugs make the beers go down way too smooth!

  • Catherine L.

I adore local jaunts, populated by locals, run and served by locals. Authentic. In the midst of the tourism that has sprung around this adorable little place (started in the 40's when there was no bridge or main road adjacent - ahh - stories like these tug at my heart strings!), this eatery has retained its local, authentic feel. Cash only. Come fresh off the beach, sun-kissed and ready to mow down a burger and ice cold beer. Doesn't get any better than this. Love the fact that there is a chalkboard behind the bar that lists (in beers!) - how long you'll wait for your order. Get yourself a burger (there's a pretty good grilled chicken sandwich, and a veggie burger option too for those that don't meddle with red meat), a fatty, if you must. I love that it comes with mayo and the works. Get some onion rings too, because, onion rings. This isn't a gourmet, over-complicated burger. Simple, and just perfect. When I think of old-school AMI and what this island used to be (I assume), I think of Skinny's. Skinny's, please don't ever change.

    (4)
  • Cassidy P.

Now this is how you make a burger!! The G3 has 3 patties, and 3 different cheeses, and 6 layers of delicious!! Skinny's is a little hole in the wall bar, it's cash only, the service is very friendly, and the story behind it is so cute. Family owned since the 50's and started by a couple who came to AMI on their Honeymoon and promised to come back and open a restaurant. This (G3) burger was split 3 ways by 3 ravenous girls... It was HUGE. This is a big *DONT MISS* while youre on Anna Maria.

We were just in Florida this past week for a family reunion staying in Longboat Key and while Yelping for restaurants, this came to the top of our list. Our family is primarily Vietnamese and so we've had been enjoying a lot of home-cooked Vietnamese meals the past few days. My Caucasian Husband was really starting to miss his beloved "American Food" so I told him we could look for a burger joint. Low and behold, Skinny's was about a 10-minute drive and had rave reviews. We couldn't wait. We got a table inside right away and realized they only accepted cash so my husband left to get money out of the ATMs (located by bathrooms on side of the building). Prices were "Ok", not as great of a deal as I thought. I ordered a cheeseburger, my husband had the bacon cheeseburger, one daughter ordered a hot dog, and the other had a hamburger. We were pretty hungry so just about anything would have tasted amazing. Food came out about 10 minutes after ordering, so here's the moment of truth. Sad to report, while "good enough" it was fairly bland and lacking substantial flavor. Same goes for the fries and onion rings. They might have been homemade, but homemade doesn't equate to good flavor. Overall, it's an OK burger place but you could do much better with Five Guys or otherwise. If we ever go back to this part of Florida, we probably won't be back.

okay if you are on AMI, you NEED to check this place out! I come here about once a year and I make sure I eat here no less than 2 times during my week long stay. a little dirty around the edges, a little retro, but that's what makes it awesome! order at the bar, give your name, and wait for your food to come up. get the burger. get the fries. get the onion rings. order a beer in a frosty mug. you will not be disappointed! cash only, so make sure you have some before you stop in as I don't believe there is an ATM on the premises.

Skinny's is awesome ! Cold beer and great burgers. I need a stress break and this place works for me.

  • Becky W.

I just went for the 1st time...delicious! We both had the Fatty Cheeseburger, french fries, and onion rings. I love the history with the little place.

  • L K.

This place is super awesome! Such local flare and contagious island energy. The bartenders are friendly, funny & quick to bring you a beer. We are burger connoisseurs and make it a point to try local burger joints that people rave about online. The burger was good, a little on the bland side but was still good with all the fixin's. We loved sitting at the bar and enjoying ourselves. Such a cool atmosphere! We will be back!

    (4)
  • Nibbler D.

Skinny's has, hands down, the best burgers on the island in a great, casual atmosphere. And (unlike the "other" burger place on AMI) they have *friendly* service and french fries. "Skinny" and his wife Jan opened the place in 1952 when there was one creaky wooden bridge connecting the island to the mainland on what is now Bridge St in Bradenton Beach. The two concrete drawbridges to the island weren't built until 1956. Their children own and operate the restaurant today. So while you're enjoying your burgers, you can enjoy a bit of history and support the family that maintained it. Yummy!

  • Amber D.

Yaaaaas to this place! Great burger, across from the beach. You go up to the bar and order everything there, then they call your name. It could get awkward if you go for your first time, and you don't know the process. Also, it gets super busy, so be patient. Great beer selection, and I can't wait to go back.

    (4)
  • Carol W.

If you are looking for a great burger served in an authentic beach atmosphere, this is it. Don't let the look of the old wood and screen facade with picnic tables in the sand scare you away. How great is it to be able to sit in your bathing suit or shorts and enjoy a juicy burger with fries and a Coke in an old fashioned glass bottle or a beer? Talk with the locals or make friends with other visitors. No strangers here. After enjoying your meal, if you feel the need to walk off a few calories, just cross the street and stroll the white sands of Gulf of Mexico.

  • Tanya C.

These burgers are so tasty! The past 2 years we came we were within walking distance to this place but always overlooked it, but the reviews don't lie!! It's a unique little place with a pretty cool history. You can't miss this place when you come to Anna Maria, it will not disappoint!! I only wish they were open later.

  • J. J.

Very pricey for burgers and only takes cash. You have to walk up to the inside bar and find a place to stand at the bar to order as there is no designated "order here" spot. I'm sure the people sitting at the bar don't appreciate that. Its a cool beach bar that has really good burgers. Onion rings are good although you get 5 or 6 for $4.50. They have lots of beer choices but sodas only come in small overpriced glass bottles and the diet was a very small glass bottle and if course no refills. I ordered my burger with no tomato and the lady told me it comes on the side. I stated I didn't want it at all and she basically told me I was getting it and I could pick it off. I in fact did get it right on top of my lettuce and pickle. I guess you don't get it your way. Food was good and beer was cold but unless you are just going for beer I would pass. I was charged for a pitcher of beer that I didn't order and no receipt was offered. I asked for a receipt and discovered the $16 dollar overcharge. I think I will go to Five Guys for better burgers at a lower price...too bad Five Guys doesn't serve beer!

    (3)
  • David B.

We got there just before the flood gates of people came in. There a cash only business but do have an ATM outside for you to use. There was only one person behind the bar to take orders and hand out the grub. As busy as it became no body had to wait for long for anything. I ordered a cheeseburger and a hotdog. Onion rings and fries. The burger was very good. Not juicy but not dry either. The all beef dog was super. It had the works on it. So what didn't get eaten,it got worn. The fries tasted well above average for a fri. Last but not least the onion rings. They were thick and fried to perfection. I recommend this place to the fine people who want fine food at a reasonable price. The atmosphere is the basic. "To each is their own"

    (4)
  • Jake L.

Burgers, fries, very cold beer and onion rings. Nice people behind the counter and they now have craft beer. Killing it with a cheeseburger and order of onion rings. Park your rear in one of the Adirondack chairs while you wait. If you're here, gotta do their no-shoes, no-shirt service for sure.

    (4)
  • Ann C.

Great juicy dripping classic cheeseburger. Nothing else needs to be said about that! Chili is on sweet side, needed more seasonings and could have done without the beans. I had the chili over my fries with cheese. It was not bad but not good. They were OUT of curly fries. Definitely get the burger and try the onion rings. Sad I didn't get those instead of the chili cheese fries.

    (3)
  • Taryn G.

Great locations right across the street from the beach. Very casual atmosphere with both indoor and outdoor picnic bench seating. All American food choices, burgers, hotdogs, sandwiches and fried sides. My husband and I were impressed with our Skinny Cheeseburgers and fries and our daughter scarfed her hotdog down in a flash! I would absolutely recommend this for a quick, laid back meal.

    (4)
  • Grub G.

Grub Guru stopped by this joint a month ago and the location is sweet! The whole beach house vibe...very cool. Ordered a Cigar City IPA...not bad! Had the bacon cheeseburger...too salty! We think it was the seasoning on the burger Patty. Their burger concept on a whole is spot on. Onion rings & fries where good and you have to grab your grub from the bar Staff. Grub Guru suggests that do a simple season blend on the Patty because bacon is salty enough. Other than that, keep on grubbin here!

    (3)
  • Adelaida C.

AMAZING burgers! Fun laid back atmosphere. It can get very busy but the food is well worth the wait. They have some of the best burgers I've ever had. They only accept cash so make sure to have some handy. Make sure to try their curly fries, they go great with a big juicy burger. When you order everything comes on the side so there's no need to say if you don't want something on your burger. You only have to say if you would like mayo or not.

    (5)
  • Rico R.

We heard nothing but great things about Skinnys. Many people recommended this joint and because my girlfriend and I love burgers, we were really excited. It didn't live up to the hype for us. The burgers were good, don't get me wrong, but rather average due to the hype. I get the whole vibe of the atmosphere, but its a very regulars only type feel. And the other thing was the price. I thought it was very overpriced for the size. I got a double fatty with fries and it was nearly $12. For a quick burger type shop, that's just too much. 4 onion rings for $5 as well. Feel free to stop in, but don't buy into all the talk

    (3)
  • Jessica G.

Dropped in for lunch cash only amazing fast burger ice cold beer the people are nice the place is fun and just the right vibe for a laid back vacation style lunch I would tell all my friends that come to this area to check this place out no ac but there was a nice breeze

  • Elizabeth R.

There is something about a beachside burger that just makes sense! This place attracts a smorgasbord of characters, which is abundantly clear from the minute you pull in; as the parking lot is scattered with everything from Harley's to Maseratis and a handful of golf carts and beach cruisers to boot. What draws such a wide variety of characters to one tiny beach shack, good burgers and cold beer. They keep it simple. With an authentic "check your attitude at the door" and "play nice or go home" atmosphere, this is the type of place you could stop into for lunch and then wonder where the next 12 hours went; or in our newly acquainted friend Terry's case, 12 years. We had two burgers (~$5 each) and a round of IPAs ($3 each) then we followed that up with another round of drafts ($1 each).

On the hunt for a good greasy burger. And by that I do NOT mean a sysco frozen 1/2 party. I want that old time bar burger, about 1/4 to 1/3 with the right amount of grease cooked on a flat top with some gooy cheese. and a reasonable set of lettuce, tomato and onion. A decent bun is a plus. and NO catsup! Ok, on that level Skinny's meets the requirements. Not too big, not too small, right price (especially for a place at the beach). The only issues, they need a little salt and pepper (no one in this town gets that right, this is one of the key's to in an out! ). tomato could be better. I would be tempted to give them 3 stars but the beer here is priced reasonable and they have some good things. Cigar city is a very nice way to go and was totally worth another star. Bring cash, you order at the bar and wait to hear your name called. Works surpassingly well. If I'm in the area I'll be sure to stop again, not sure I would pass buy all the other places I know have good burgers to get here since they are comparable. but if you are on the beach come here instead of the concession stand. ps. didn't try the fries, looked a little soggy.

  • KARYN P.

Skinny's Place is a MUST visit whether you are staying directly on the island or just in the area. Cash only - BUT definitely the COLDEST beer and BEST burgers!!!!!

    (5)
  • Melinda H.

There was nothing special about the cheeseburgers here or the service. I felt it was similar to a Burger King meal and only the fries were better. We were fooled in to thinking the place would be good because it was crowded. It is a cash only place, order at the bar if one of the waitresses acknowledges you, and listen for your name to be called. I stood there while one waitress looked at me, ignored me and took 4 other beer refills. Take my advice have it your way at BK and skip this greasy overpriced burger joint.

  • Ang L.

This was an unexpected treat. We asked locals where to find the best burger on the island and were directed here. It's a little shack across a busy intersection from the beach so parking is iffy. They were running fans but it was extremely hot in there. The draft beers come in frosted mugs and the price is decent. We sat at the bar directly under three fans and that made it bearable. It's a family run business and they work well together. I really enjoyed the laid back atmosphere and the joking around. The burgers were excellent!! We will be stopping there once more on our way back out of town. The 1 star nick is for cash only/no substitutions/insanely hot in there. Tables were available outside with umbrellas and those were just as heat stroke inducing

  • Scott T.

Forget the appearance of this place , it's about the food and service, and its greatl A family of 6 came in and sat next to us, looked around, and got up and left. I guess they were looking for Prime Rib, If they only knew that they missed out on a great meal. If you want a great burger, this is where you want to go. Keep in mind, Cash only.

    (4)
  • Hannah T.

Did not live up to all the hype! Burgers were still good, just very average though. The vibe is very casual/beach theme but if you aren't a regular you feel out of place, at least we did. My bun was dry, and paid $5 for 4 onion rings... A little over priced for what it's worth, burgers too. Would recommend for a quick lunch or very casual quick dinner!

    (3)
  • Michael B.

Amazing burger experience best on the island. Small and hot but come back every time! Don't forget CASH ONLY!

    (5)
  • Josh O.

Love the dirty worn down atmosphere. It could be put together a little better. The bartender was pretty busy, but still got to us without having to wait long. All in all, it was just ok.

    (4)
  • Tom R.

Hamburgers are very good... I haven't eaten all the burgers that are available on the island, so I can't say it's the best. But it is good eating. Very low key atmosphere and small. Parking is at a minimum like most everything on the island. Service was take out. It was fast, friendly, and we had a cold beer to make the time pass by, and the food was ready for us after the one beer. The place is always busy.

    (3)
  • Dawn O.

Awesome burgers, ice cold beer and a very casual atmosphere makes this one of our go-to places..especially when we have company. Best.Burger. Period. It can get a little crazy with parking and ordering. .but we'll worth it.

I'm a big burger fan. When the lady who works at the Island Coffee Haus recommended Skinny's for a good cheeseburger, we jumped at it. This is an old building with lots of "character". Don't let that scare you off. You order your burgers, fries and drinks at the counter, find a seat and wait. Be aware, they don't take credit cards but there's an ATM outside. When you order your skinny burger or fatty burger (meaning it's a double), you just say mayo or no mayo. The lettuce, tomato and onion comes with it, like it or not but it's on the side. The staff is real friendly and so are most of the customers. Oh, by the way, the sign out front says it's open until 8 p.m.

  • Kristin K.

We stopped here after hanging out at Manatee Beach since it is right across the street. My sister heard it was good so we decided to check it out. It's a small place but with a decent amount of outdoor seating. If you're waiting for a server to come to your table, you're at the wrong place. While you wait for your food, enjoy an ice cold beer. They've got options on tap and bottles as well. Plus, it's cheap! I had the Skinny Cheeseburger and it was amazing! My dad said he'd choose this place over Five Guys any time. Nothing beats a good burger after a day spent at the beach and this place delivered! Cash only though!

Ok iwe came back in the fall. Weather was perfect. Burger was perfect! Beer icy cold!! No way to make it any better than this! Glad we came back!

All natural grassfed freshly ground beef, soft bums, tater tots... And frosted mugs of icy IPA. What more can I say?

Traveled from Philly for vacation in Holmes Beach and stopped by Skinny's for lunch based on the reviews. Food was really good and made better by the beach slash dive bar feel of the place, but it's not the best burger I've had (I don't think they're shooting for that anyway). As far as burgers go, imagine a step up from Five Guys or Shake Shack. There's a handful of picnic tables outside with umbrellas for some much needed shade and a small indoor sitting area around the bar. The walls are open (picture chicken wire) and allow a little breeze to roll through. Similar to the Pit Stop in Pawley's Island, SC, patrons can personalize a dollar bill which litter the walls around the bar. With the combination of solid food and the beach bum atmosphere, Skinny's is a must-see in AMI. We'll definitely go back next time we're in town.

I'll say it. I have to. The double fatty burger here makes In-n-Out taste like a common McDonalds whore. The double fatty burger makes me want to leave my job, grab my dog, and become an islander. The double fatty had my whole family talking, literally and logistically about buying the place from the owners, when it isn't even for sale. (That we know of. But we'll look into it I'm sure). I stayed in Anna Maria for 7 days and I ate here FOUR times. FOUR. I couldn't get enough. The burgers are to die for, its right off the beach, its quaint and kitschy, the service is friendly. I loved everything about it! I don't care if you don't think you'll finish it, do not get the single burger here, go for the double fatty. For some reason when you get the single, the patty is much smaller. When you get the double both patties are heartier and covered in melty cheese. The second patty absorbs all of the first patty's goodness for full on flavor. Pair that with cheap beer in a frosty mug, and you'll see why I kept coming back!! I'm having withdrawals. Might have to look up flights...

Dude? Are you serious? This just might be the best F***ing Burger I have EVER eaten. EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER. I drool. I sweat. I get dizzy. I dreeeaaammm about this burger! Every time I hit up Anna Maria, I always eat here multiple times. The drinks are Cheap, the music is Reggae, the floor is Sand, the walls are Screens and the tables are Old and Sticky... I love it. I just can't get enough. This local spot passes the test of time. All the locals are here. Dont miss it. Cash only.

Best burgers on the beach. We came twice while on vacation and would have come a third time but closed on Mondays. Amazing onion rings and they also have tater tots not on the menu. Can't wait to come back. Love the outdoor seating in the sand.

A local favorite for sure! There is never a disappointment with the food or service. Great burgers and ice cold beer...do you need more! Oh yeah...Skinny ' s has fries unlike some other place on the island!

Good burgers & beers & fun environment. It is kind of confusing your first time - how to order, etc. Just go to the bar, grab a menu and order - they'll call your name when your food is ready. Indoor and outdoor seating. Friendly service. Love this place!

Is this considered # 1 because it's the only one? Does that mean # 1 from the end too? Plain burgers - nothing interesting.

This is the best burger and beer hole in the wall place you'll find on any beach anywhere. Always frozen mugs and delicious burgers, stop by if you're ever on Anna Maria Island!

Best burgers in Bradenton! This place is a must have if you make it out to Holmes beach. It's literally a little beach shack with tons of character. If you have any friends from out of town visiting you, do them a favor and bring them here. No servers, you go to the bar to order your food and wait to hear them shout your name. It's an area staple!

Walked out twice. Impossible to get served when busy. Staff disorganized and uncaring. Never to return. Food? Who knows? Now, who cares?

I understand casual, but this place is actually just dumpy and dirty. As far as having the best burgers on the island, the judges must have poor taste. The patties are small, so we got the Fatty. One burger on each sandwich was under cooked, and so greasy, the bottom half of the bun was soaked with grease. One order of onion rings (which consisted of 4 rings), one order of fries, a beer and an ice tea, cost $29.00, before the tip. There are many better deals on the island.

I honestly don't see the appeal about this place...you would think, bar/grill pretty much in the beach would be a no brainer winner. Not in this case. First off place only takes cash, come on people it's 2015 most people don't carry cash, atm conviently placed outside of the place. So walked in and first things first place is pretty gross, tables look like they get wiped down once a day of that. You order your food at the bar, guy who took my order was very nice and pleasant ( where the 2 stars come from) ordered 2 bacon cheese burgers and onion rings. When we got our food we ended up with two cheese burgers...was a little irratated but whatever. Food all came at once you go to the bar and pick it up. Onion rings weren't bad burgers were sub par...nothing special. To me a burger shack on the beach should be a gold mine all these people saying it's amazing must have no taste buds...idk to me wasn't that great and won't go back that's for sure...hit the place with some soap and water...please.

Best. Damn. Burger. Ever. Several pints of ice cold Stella didn't hurt either. @FiveGuys, if this place ever decides to go chain, you are so screwed...lol

Damn good greasy burger. I drove down from Tampa to try it. It was worth the drive, only because i ha nothing to do on a Sunday. if you are in the area, its a MUST. Don't make s special trip though. It ain't In-N-Out. The burgers were very good. The fries were good, and the beer selection was very good. The ambiance was the best part of the trip. The place is a total beach dive bar. Dollar bills are plastered all over the wall. One tv showing any sports that are playing. Its 50 yards from the beach and there are seats outside as well. If you are male, get the double burger (called the fatty), cause the single won't be enough.

I guess I went in here with high expectations because of all the reviews. The burgers were just okay. Nothing spectacular and they didn't stand out from other burger joints I've been to. It was also pricey for what was ordered. $4.25 for four onion rings and $7.00 for a sub par burger. The chili looked like it was sitting on a stove for days - just horrible. I'm not a fan.

We went here while on vacation. It'd been recommended to us. The flies were TERRIBLE. We could hardly eat because they were so bad. I went to the bar to get a refill of iced tea - I was ignored. The food really wasn't that great either. Definitely not the #1 burger.

Im going to give this 4 stars based on mostly the atmosphere. The food is good.. dont get me wrong.. I am a bit of a burger junkie.. and the burgers are fresh and good. The onion rings are good, but maybe a bit overpriced. I do wish there were free refills on the soda, but thats not that big of a deal. This place is like a tiny little shack.. there are maybe 5 tables in there, with mismatched chairs and it was packed.. but it was pretty cool. I would suggest going here if you are in the area.

Decent food and great spot to grab a few cold beers. Always packed whenever I go but pretty easy to eventually get what you need. It's small and sometimes The people visiting there can be a bit rude because of this.

Let me just say right of the bat that the ONLY reason I give this place 4 stars is because its soo tiny and has no a/c. With that said; if you are near Anna Maria Island and are looking for a place to have a couple beers and some AMAZING bar food. This is the 1 AND ONLY place to go. We have been there twice so far and will be back any and every time we go to Anna Maria. Their burgers are the best we've had in Florida, and the chicken if very tasty. Our middle son eats like a bird usually, last time we went he devoured his entire hotdog and curly fires basket. Now that's saying something! The people behind the bar are very friendly and accommodating. No shirt/shoes required. Just roll in right off the beautiful beach to this beautiful hole in the wall! FYI: CASH only. There is a ATM right around the corner!

Got a burger and onion rings to-go. Supposedly the best burger on the island. It was a little burnt piece of meat (guess the name Skinny's is fitting) layered in bread, tomatoes, and lettuce so it looked like it was more than it was. I've never met a cheeseburger I didn't like, but I was expecting a bit more after the hype. That being said, the onion rings were AMAZING. Thick and breaded and yummy! Maybe a got a bad batch of burgers, but I expected a little more out of this place.

We eat at Skinny's at least once during our annual vacation to AMI. A classic dive bar with great burgers, fries and onion rings. Since we stay near there we always get ours to go. Not much room inside and definitely not a fine dining experience but hey, you are on vacation at the beach! If you want a convenient and quick break from the island's wonderful seafood, this is a good choice. You can still get an argument about which is better - Skinny's or Duffy's - so judge for yourself!

it's not supposed to be a 15 dollar angus beef burger with aged vermont cheddar. It's a plain greasy burger that pairs perfectly with draft beer. Skinny's is not trying to be a five star dining experience it's a shack on the beach with dollar draft beers, sand on the ground, and chicken wire for windows. This all being said Skinny's is my favorite place on AMI. Bring cash, no credit cards.

even when youre getting rained on (there aren't windows) we still love it. it took me a solid 15mins of getting wet to move to a dry table....i was very relaxed

Yep, still great. Had it twice in four days last week, and also stopped in one day just for drinks. They have a new burger with jalapenos and salsa, super good. So Skinny's is still sweaty, still has the dollars hanging up, still has good local people watching, still has the gruff bartenders. It's paradise.

Burger was mediocre but dear god- the flies!! They are everywhere. It was revolting and I couldn't finish my food because of them. Ugh.

Great dive where you can get a cheap beer and a yummy burger after a day at the beach. I could have eaten two burgers...so so good. Four stars for the toothless man staring down my shirt.

    Best hamburgers and hotdogs EVER!!!

  • Trish G.

I love this place! But let me warn you, this is your basic beer and burger joint (even though I always order a basket of buffalo chicken pieces). You place your order at the bar and have a seat, they'll call you. Dollar draft beers in a frosty mug will keep you chillin while you wait...in fact, get up and order another one! Beware...there is no air conditioning in this place, so you have to replenish with lots of fluids (beer). And you will always meet friendly locals and vacationing beach goers here. This place is basic...but I think shoes and shirts are required but they may be lax on that rule too. And bring the kids...my nieces and nephews love it here...they think it's way cool.
