Had lunch here today. My lunch special of bbq chicken, mac and cheese and cole slaw was okay, chicken was a bit dry, like it had been cooked a bit too long. Server was great and my half and half iced tea was great....the to go cup lasted through dinner in GA :)

We were on the way home from a trip to South Carolina and were really wanting some barbecue when we spotted this little place on the side of 301. We all ordered barbecue sandwiches, pork, beef, and turkey. The sauces were delicious- I mixed the sweet and the hot and it was perfect. The baked beans were wonderful and definitely not canned. The fried okra had a bit of a thick breading, but fresh and yummy. The service was outstanding. Our waitress was prompt and attentive and we felt like we were back in Georgia. This was a very unexpected treat. If we ever pass through again, we will stop again.

Went to Dianne's last night on my way out of town. if you were ever in the same situation, do yourself a favor and keep driving. I had the pulled pork, baked potato and green beans. The pulled pork still had a lot of fat in it and was tasteless. It was drenched in sauce but still dry. The baked potato was nothing to write home about and the green beans were canned with ham thrown in, but they still tasted like water. While I was there, a waitress practically ran over a little girl and then complained about her to her table guests. The little girls' waitress had the decency to ask if the little girl was okay. Before I left I need to use the restroom and there is only one word for the shape it was in -disgusting. Overall, there is no pride in ownership here so keep driving. It's really a shame because it's a beautiful location just off the lake.

I really enjoyed this place and the people were very nice and service quick. I had a combo meal with the ribs and pulled pork. Both seemed like they were made some time ago... Not the freshest or best that I have had, hence the 3 stars. I am not writing this place off. I travel through here frequently and plan on giving it another shot later. I may have caught it at the wrong time and I must remember that it is just a quaint little BBQ place.

Is a good local no frills restaurant. I had the chicken lunch. Nice smoke flavor and moist meat. The baked beans were really good as well as the home made cole slaw. Service was fast and friendly.

We visited on a Sunday, 8/25/13 @12:30 PM. That's probably the busiest time for this restaurant. We were greeted with a smile right away and told to sit anywhere. There was a party in one room, but we managed to find a table in front by the window. The CHEERFUL server came by almost immediately with menus and took our drink order. The iced tea was delicious! The special of the day was half a chicken with garlic toast and two sides for $7.99 (!!) we chose BBQ beans (made from scratch in house) cole slaw, and french fries. Sweet potatoes are available for a small upcharge. The food was served quickly. The generous serving of fries were perfect and the slaw was some of the best I've ever tasted. Four BBQ sauces are offered, sweet, mild, hot, and mustard. We didn't love the beans, but maybe other people would. I thought they were too sweet. The portion was served in a soup sized bowl! No skimping on portion size here. The chicken was superb. It had a light smoky flavor, and fall off the bone tenderness. It was listed on the daily special board as "all you can eat," but it was more than I could eat. The sever kept our delicious tea full throughout our meal. The dining room is clean and bright, and though the restrooms are dated, they're clean too. . There is also a take-out window if you just want to stop by and grab a quick bite. Concrete picnic tables are out back beside the lake where you can enjoy a takeout meal, weather permitting Dianne's is easily the best restaurant on the highway in this small town (there are only two), and they seemed to be doing everything right while we were there. Next time we visit, I'll try the spare ribs. NOTE: for some reason, Yelp has 4 more reviews and a different address for Dianne's here: yelp.com/biz/diannes-old… I'm not sure which address is correct, but the map looks like the actual location. It's easy to find, just look on the East side of HWY 301 in Hawthorne, it's a little south of HWY 20.

We liked the ribs. They had a nice dry rub and the sauces were tasty. The chicken was smokey and moist. I was disappointed with the sides. The mac and cheese tasted like grocery store deli or frozen mac and cheese. Defiantly not the southern homemade kind I was hoping for. The beans were also a let down. My niece (12 years old) loves corn on the cob. She said it wasn't very good compared to others she's had. Mi Service was great and the smell when you walked up to the front door was exactly the smoke smell you want to have at a bbq place. They had some great all you can eat specials everyday of the week. Good deals if you're into that. Overall it was okay. They did the most important part right, the meat.

We are regulars here! At least 1 night a week. I would recommend the bowl of yummies for breakfast, big deal for lunch and big deal for dinner! The only drink you need is the Sweet Tea. Great service and very timely on orders. This was an original Sonny's and is still owned by Sonny Tillman's Daughter, Dianne. Stop in and feel like a local!

Stopped here driving though town because of so many cars in the parking lot, I hoped that meant it was good! It was worth the stop, I got a slab of baby back ribs and two sides (slaw very good, and Mac and cheese nothing special) about $15. But I wish I got more ribs or tried other meats! I'd definitely stop again, and or wish it was closer! The mustard BBQ sauces was my favorite one. Nice picnic area in the back, if traveling with pets.

Mmm. Bowl of Yummie. Best cold weather breakfast ever and cheap! Great service too. Very Old South but in the good way.

Food was good. Pork cooked very well. Garlic bread good. Fries were ok, baked beans good but lacking some of the richer favors of slow cooked, maybe a sauce issue. Mac and cheese was ok. Service a bit slow but food out quickly. Seem to cater quicker to the regulars which you kinda expect in a small town but a little disappointing. All in all not a bad meal and could of rated higher with better service and a little tweaking of the sides.

What a gem! We were hungry for Southern Barbecue & we weren't disappointed. They were closing early (it was Christmas Eve) and we arrived just before they locked the doors. The service was great & we didn't feel rushed. The ribs were fantastic and the portions satisfying. The staff were very friendly (we even met Dianne!) and we learned the barbecue sauce is from a family recipe that is decades old. II you are on a road trip and aching to get off the interstate to avoid rest stop food, this place is worth the detour!

Stopped by this place on our way to Jax from Ocala. It looked quaint and we had high hopes for it. If it were not for the fact that we were starving, we would have left on the first bite. This is not barbque! The chicken and ribs were pink, but no smokey flavor of good barbque at all. We asked for the mac-n-cheese and the waitress informed us that it had not thawed out yet-what???? It is not that time consuming or hard to make homemade mac-n-cheese. We will definitely wait next time to get to Jax for good barbque at Mojo's!

This is THE restaurant in town, and thankfully its good ! There's nothing else in town for about 30 min in any direction except pizza n subs... this place is a real country family restaurant and I love it, it always feels like you're welcome and right at home, the burgers are great and the kids chicken tender order is enough for two kids ! We love the sweet tea and the service is sweet too, the girls are Southern hospitality first class... the prices are great.

The quality of the food is progressivly getting worse and worse. They tried going back to there roots but what happend is they changed things, shrinked thier portions and increased thier prices. I hope things get better

Good old fashioned southern BBQ. The hot spot in town for locals to grab a quick lunch. Great sweet tea! I've never had their breakfast, but I've heard good things.
