I would give this place no stars if I could. My sister and I were looking for a filling lunch so we decided to check out this lunch buffet. We walked in and waited to be seated. A server walks by looks at us and mumbles something quickly under his breath... So we waited for a little while longer then decided to seat ourselves. We sat down and waited some more as some other guest comes in after us and gets greeted by one of the seemingly only 2 servers in the place. And it was not even that busy. So we left. I hate to claim the race card unless there's direct evidence of it, but as the only 2 black people in the establishment and no urgent need to welcome us as other non-colored patrons, racism becomes evident. I guess only white regulars come here.

Great service, cocktails, bruschetta, Caesar salad and pasta. The bread alone was fantastic. A NY Italian restaurant dropped down in the middle of Hallandale. The only item that keeps me from giving it 5 stars was the mediocre chicken parm... Not sure what they did to the chicken but is tasted processed, not fresh like the rest. Stick w pasta and ask to be seated in Gene's section, you won't be disappointed!

Lots of food. Portions are big. I love the food. It is really good. Very old world Italian. Really like the burnt string beans and broccoli, it is really unique. I had the meatballs which were served with some fresh ricotta. Very nicely done. It's the best in the area, great for groups. Full bar. I have had several good meals here which I truly value consistentsy.

Quick Update: Palm Sunday Dinner 13 of us handled expertly by Raul & Jeff Very difficult to handle 13 people bringing out the food fresh and Hot but will give you some of the highlights. Fresh Hot Bread was good with a prepared dipping sauce of Olive Oil, Garlic, Balsamic vinegar & Chopped tomatoes. I think Raul did this on his own very good. Salads all chopped house served to us by Raul & Jeff were excellent. Skirt Steak with Fresh sliced potatoes & Roasted peppers Very Good. Ziti/Penne Pasta with Vodka Sauce Rich & Creamy Excellent Angel Hair pasta with Garlic & Oil with chunks of fresh roasted garlic Killer Shrimp "Oreganato" with homemade bread crumbs in a scampi sauce a total winner. Veal Parmigiana Excellent with the marinara not being over powering. Sausage with Broccoli Rabe another don't miss. Pass on the Roasted Chicken and the Veal marsala not their best presentations a disappointment since the Marsala was very good last time. All and all another good experience without the knee cap prices!

Wow Acquo 124 never fails to deliver. The calamari arribiatta is amazing. I can confidently say the best in the USA. I come from LA to eat it,straight from the airport and once before I go home. Everything else you order there is consistently delicious but the arribiatta is truly unique.

I am Italian girl and only 43 years old. Sure, the crowd is older than me. But, I have been to Italy ten times and lived in NYC for 17 years and grew up in an all Italian family. Italian food does not get better than this in Florida. Of course, you need to know what to order. #1 - Gnocchi Gorgonzola (I don't care if it is fattening). #2 - Salmon entree. #3 Appetizer: Their fresh Mozz & tomato appetizer. It is simple, but great because they actually serve it with real Italian bread. An extreme rarity in Florida. My parents visited from NY and enjoyed their damn bread so much, they gave me a loaf to take home for them to get a long for a few days. Seriously. That is all I have to say. I don't need to order different things off their menu. Just my normal items and those are always extremely amazing. Not only that, they all know our names and are always glad we came. Kisses and hugs every time I walk in the door. I feel like I am visiting my "long lost family". I don't even look or speak Italiano. It is just how they treat people. It is one of the best simple pleasures in the world. Highly, highly recommended!

Love! Service was top-notch, food was delicious, and all the patrons were just cheerful and friendly...felt like it was my neighborhood joint although it was my first visit there. The servings are ridiculously generous...any plate is plenty for 2 people. Pastas were excellent, very fresh. Had a craving that day for some old school chicken parm, and it tasted exactly how I had hoped it would, an ultimate comfort food dish. They won over my friend's 4-year old with a huge bowl of chocolate ice cream for dessert. We grownups had cannolis and spumoni - perfect end to a great meal.

We ordered fried zucchini & baby octopus in marinara sauce; both were overcooked, then our ravioli were almost raw and a New York strip ($27) tasted like sawdust. Our waiter tried his best and earned a good tip, but we cannot recommend this place for anything other than a nice ambiance. Stay away!!!!!

Most customers are seniors. The saturday night I was there, a DJ was playing wedding style old songs and seniors were dancing and doing the chu chu train in between tables... a but annoying. The food is pretty bad, pasta drown in water and oil and stuffed calamari were cold inside. To top it all, it is very pricy for the food they served. Avoid the place.

Just love this place. The service is always professional and top notch, and the food is consistantly delicious. Ambiance is nice. There has been a guy there playing music the couple of times we went. Not sure what his schedule is, but he's good, and so is his selection of music. An older crowd gathers at the bar. The stuffed artichoke we ordered as an appetizer was so good, as was the stuffed portabella. (both available often, but not regular menu items). Their strawberry salad is excellent. My favorite menu entree is the chicken or veal Francais, which few places make this delicious. Where they lose the fifth star, is by not serving it with pasta, and then charging like a full price meal for a side of angel hair. Come on guys, pasta is cheap...not worth making yourselves look so petty. And using the excuse that everything is served family style does not help you. Zabaione for dessert, accompanied by a nice glass of moscato makes for the perfect finish to a wonderful meal. FYI: this restaurant's name was changed some time ago to Aquo 124.

Acquolina/Aquo 124 is fabulous italian food with excellent service. We've tried the calamari, eggplant parm, caesar salad, various pasta dishes and all have been full of flavor. Absolutely delicious every time. Portions are generous and the wait staff is superb. A perfect date spot!

Our concierge sent us to Acquolina (aka Aquo 124), and wow, what a wonderful experience! The restaurant was filled with seniors and their grands who'd come to visit, and the staff compensates for that by being extra attentive and warm. Our servers honesty helped us to make the correct menu selections. P.C., you're right, the stuffed veal was amazing...so was the salmon carpaccio! Because the concierge told them it was my friend's birthday (Kick-butt concierge team @ The Westin Diplomat), not only did the manager bring our a special dessert, but they also brought out 2 rounds of champagne and had the singer/pianist (he was awesome) to sing to her! After dinner, our server, made sure that we we had correct directions to our next destination, South Beach!

Went for the lunch buffet . Thank god the bread on table was good and the penne in vodka sauce was ok otherwise I would have starved... Did not try the lentil soup. chopped salad was boring. Cold balsamic chicken and veggies no taste whatsoever only knew it was balsamic because it said so! Whole wheat pasta with broccoli was disgusting. Flounder in Florentine sauce steamed overcooked sauce had no flavor and they knew it served with slotted spoon. And last on the list chicken Scapariello which was just burnt dry pcs of chicken.

Nice clean Italian food. Arugula salad was mediocre. Big spaghetti with meatballs. Appeals to older aventura crowd. Bar scene in the 70's yr old age bracket.

Ok if your 80 and lost your taste buds. Really mediocre at best, just bland food. Huge portions and reasonable prices, but not for anyone that enjoys the taste of food.

Absolutely delicious food and the serve was perfect. The Penne a la Vodka ( added shrimp) was out of this world, and the bruschetta was amazing. And my hubby loved his Veal Parmagian with a side of Risotto. Everything we had was incredible. We'll be back!!!!

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
