Thai shrimp salad was amazing food was fresh healthy and amazing. He will not be disappointed with this fresh good tasting food. My wife and I ate here for lunch and we are locals and this is one of the restaurants I would highly recommend.
I went with a group of 3 during the 5-6pm 1/2 off deal. We got 6 items: butternut squash soup, romaine salad, seafood stew, curried scallops, chicken and dumplings, and lemon pie. Every item was worth the money we paid. The atmosphere was a little lower-scale than the food, but the location was excellent--walking distance from the beach.
We found this place by accident one evening and were pleasantly surprised. The food was amazing and reasonably priced, and the service was excellent as well. We had the Pork Paillard and Curried Scallops. The flavor was unique and well balanced. Try this place.. you'll love it!
Cute breakfast place with friendly service. We ordered beignets for the table, which were more like cake donuts with a beignet-style crust. They were definitely a lot more dense than other beignets I've had. I had the Salmon Benny. It was an interesting twist on a bagel with lox and an eggs benedict. I enjoyed being able to have the bagel, lox, and poached egg all in one. The potatoes on the side were good too. A couple people ordered the sweet potato pancakes (which I sampled). I've had better. Also, they were heavily drenched with syrup, so I'd suggest asking for it on the side.
Awesome place for breakfast! The chorizo and egg dish was incredible. Everything from the food, to portion size, to price, to service, to environment-all was top rate. I rarely give 5-stars, because there are too many variables, but this deserves 5! Stop in for brunch or breakfast if you're in the 30A.
I don't understand how this place has such great reviews. Came in for breakfast and was very disappointed in the meal. The food was bland, very generic, and nothing seemed freshly made. The salsa came from a jar, and the guacamole was from a tube. Everything was very overpriced and did not live up to the hype that many reviewers gave.
The only reason my rating is 4 stars instead of 5 is the price. It's really pricey for the size of the room and the overall quality of the stay, but I am still a fan. My husband and I stayed here after our wedding reception at Grayt Grounds. It was lovely. After our reception we walked to Red Bar with our closest friends to celebrate and then walked (or stumbled) back to Hibiscus Guest House for the night. I also stayed there with my best friend and sister the night before my wedding and we stayed up drinking champagne and reminiscing about our childhood days. I can't imagine a more perfect night before my wedding or a more sweet, romantic wedding night. I will cherish this place forever. Oh and P.S.- The peanut butter, granola, and fruit waffles are absolutely to die for. I didn't think I'd be able to eat before my wedding, but it wasn't much of a problem with those bad boys in front of me. Oh, and they serve Amavida Coffee. Score!
Hibiscus is charming and tranquil. We stayed in the old Florida room for one night and we wished we could have stayed weeks! The accommodations were quaint and quiet yet still centrally located. There are plenty of places on hibiscus grounds to read and relax, including he backyard of love, various porches, cafe, and small library. Walk to the beach in under 10 minutes. Breakfast is great - coffee was excellent! The owners were extremely friendly and hospitable. Hibiscus was definitely one of the highlights of our trip!
Our wedding reception was at the HIbiscus a few weeks ago and it was absolutely perfect. Stephanie and Colin are hands down two of the most wonderful people on the planet. From day one of planning they were both incredibly helpful and easy to work with - and I only visited them once in person before the big day since we live in Dallas. All of our friends and family that stayed at the Hibiscus for the wedding weekend had a wonderful time and continue to tell us how much they enjoyed their stay, all their food and the reception space. Stephanie was very helpful with supplying me vendors to call for cake, chairs, tents, music, etc and always promptly and professionally responded to my calls and emails. Each of the guest rooms are unique and we loved getting to see each room our friends/family stayed in. They are all so much fun and we love the old Florida feel. Colin, the Cafe chef, was wonderful to work with and went out of his way to cater to my vegetarian diet and my sister's gluten free diet. Colin also prepared breakfast for about 13 family members the morning of the wedding. It was beautifully prepared and decorated in the Backyard of Love space. Our reception food was incredible and everyone went out of their way to let us know they enjoyed it. We also very much enjoyed Sunday Brunch - the music, the food and the atmosphere. I cannot say enough good things about the Hibiscus and their entire team - everyone is so friendly and helpful. We will be back soon to see you guys - not soon enough, but soon!
Great oysters (when the Galveston jumbos are in), but really good all other times! Nice cold-beer choices too. The place has a 'local beach joint' feel that we like. Fun wait-staff, cold beer, and $9-per-dozen oysters makes it hard to beat. We'll frequent Hurricane Oyster Bar at least twice during each vacation every year.
The oysters were phenomenal. I ate three dozen. But my burger was anything but. I mean, edible, but not great. Our server was awesome. He took great care of us. Didn't forget a thing.
Meh, exactly. We originally planned to eat out in Seaside for lunch, but being a Saturday of a long weekend it was crazy in town, so we decided to venture a little further to the Hurricane Oyster Bar. It was a cozy little bar, being happy hour I decided to order wine for $2 off, and my boyfriend got a beer. This was the highlight of lunch. My boyfriend ordered the fried catfish basket, complete with the fries, hushpuppies and coleslaw, only his came minus the coleslaw. He might've been able to point this out if the bartender ever came to check on us once our food was delivered. When his food arrived and he was barely picking at the catfish, catfish being his favorite meal of all time, I knew something was wrong. I tried one of the fries and what I got was limp, cold, and undercooked. After we left the restaurant, I asked what was going on with his lunch? The catfish wasn't breaded in the normal cornmeal mixture, but rather a flour based breading which fell off from the fish and the hushpuppies could've been dessert they were so sweet. His words exactly were "well at least the beer was delicious".... My grilled chicken was alright, the grits were barely lukewarm but at least I was able to eat mine. Either way, with all the great dining in the area, this is not somewhere we will try again.
