Stopped here for a quick breakfast on a Monday morning. Staff was very friendly and the place was quiet and clean. Really dug all the taxidermy and old-timey agriculture stuff on the walls. Pretty decent breakfast, quick and cheap

Great food in an old Cracker setting we had the Sauteed Frog Legs, swamp cabbage and fried green tomatoes. The food was great and service wonderful Tammy rocks! Fellmere is also home of the Frog Leg festival Jan 15-18 2015

This place is very hit or miss for me. I feel as though it's a bit overpriced for what your getting but everyone is super nice and generally I can't say I've had a bad meal. Just a few that weren't anything to write home about. There is a bunch of really great animal mounts and history in the building. It's got some neat pictures of the area from a long time ago. I'll go back.....I won't go out of my way though.

Great food & atmosphere, frog legs & alligator, along with good ole Florida Cracker food. I'm not into the frog legs are alligator so not trying them! But everything else was great along with the service. Great desserts also!

The food is good southern food, with a few quirky items on the menu for the more adventurous, such as gator tail and frog legs. They now serve breakfast and we did enjoy that at the latest visit. Go on Thursday night for open bluegrass, it is a blast!

Excellent authentic southern food with real friendly southern hospitality. Don't let the small town look put you off. This place is the real deal and it's pretty amazing. A few dishes to consider: 1) the fried alligator is really good 2) the corn bread is out of this world 3) the swamp cabbage soup is incredibly good 4) be sure to get a piece if pie to finish it off...the chocolate peanut butter and the key lime are really good

Wow. Hands down the worst food I've ever had in florida. If I could give them zero stars I would. We had the fried chicken dinner and buffalo wings. Old greasy chicken is what we were served. The waitress was unatentive and disconnected. Travelers..... If you want good southern food just head to cracker barrel. It's clear that the people in fellsmere don't demand good food. If this place was anywhere else it would close it's doors. Two words to describe the food ....... absolutely disgusting. ......

Pros: Food is good and a fair price. Cons: If you're not a regular, you will be treated like an outsider. My girlfriend and I walked in to try Bluegrass night. While waiting for the hostess to tell us there were no tables available, we got glares from a few of the regulars. We made reservations about two weeks later. When we walked in, we got glares again. We were shown our table, in a different room, against the back wall, in a corner. We came to see and hear live bluegrass, if I leaned back in my seat and looked left, I could see one of the band members head thru the doorway. We couldn't hear the band when they talked to the elite members up front. It would be quite, then the front of the dining room would laugh or clap. We have no idea why. We could kind of hear them when they sang. Our waitress disappeared for about an hour. When she finally came back, she apologized by saying she was told to mingle with the crowd out front and make sure they were happy. We 2nd class citizens didn't matter to the management. After 3 songs that we couldn't really hear, we decided to leave. It felt like we weren't welcome or wanted there. We were 2nd class people and they only cared about the 1st class people out front. IF YOU ARE NOT A REGULAR, YOU WILL NOT GET A GOOD SEAT OR BE TREATED RIGHT. The owners can say their reservation system is fair, but when the same people are at the same tables every week, it's not a fair system. We left feeling disrespected, ashamed and embarrassed.

Real florida food! Enjoyed the service as well. The meal started with our drinks served in mason jars (nice touch). The sweet tea was good, done right. We started with a taste of swamp cabbage as my partner hadnt had it before. It was fair, but i was just happy to see it offered. I ordered the whole fried catfish with macaroni and cheese and collard greens. The macaroni was very good, tasted like himemade. The greens needed a bit of seasoning but they had vinegar and hot sauce available. My partner had the shrimp and grits with green beans and black eyed peas, all were very good. I felt the shrimp and grits could have been a bit spicier. Overall the menu and quality really did justice to the claim of florida down home cooking. I would definately recommend.

Excellent food--tried several items and have never had a bad meal. Usually get the unsweet tea, but have tried a few of the mixed drinks--all excellent as well. Best fried chicken in the area by far. Love their cornbread. Save room (or take home) dessert. Eclectic atmosphere and friendly staff. If in the area, don't miss Thurs. bluegrass night.

Was recommended to this place after a local airboat ride. There was a 15% off coupon after our ride. Locals gave my family and I weird looks and the service was terrible! We had an older lady that was our waitress who was not even slightly polite. Upon asking for a toothpick, she pointed to the front and said "over there". The food was O.K but not for the prices. They had gator and frog on the menu for tourists but had very small portions for the 8$ appetizers. Would not go back. Would not send my family or friends here.

Good old county food. Been here a few times and I'm always happy. They have lots of cool old stuff on the walls and animals. Live music is usually on Thursday night's.

I went out of my way to get here and it's totally worth it. If your heading north on I-95 (or South) get off the highway at the Sebastian/Fellsmere exit and head west a few miles. Like it says in some other reviews, it's real Florida food. It's a "Florida Cracker" spot. You can get stuff like Frog Legs and Alligator if thats what you like or even a turkey dinner with mashed potatoes. The building feels 100 years old and theres a ton of cool rustic things decorating the walls.

Nothing here is bad. Come for the down home country feel. Gator tail and frog legs are for the adventurous. Fried hickey can't be beat and sides like biscuits and Mac and cheese. Best comfort food you could find!

Five stars to do this restaurant justice overall and try to combat an erroneous 3 star rating. Deserves a solid 4 stars. This is good down home cooking with great flavor. Service was very friendly and timely.

We'll lets start by saying I walked in and everyone could tell I definitely wasn't from around town. The curly brown hair and Miami accent definitely made me stick out. Everyone turned and stared but I don't mind attention so whatever. On to the service. The hostess took my drink order before even seating me. I chose to sit outside because the weather was amazing. A few minutes later my waitress showed up with my Mountain Dew ready to take my order. I had meatloaf and Baked Mac and cheese. The food came out only a few minutes later and I was eating in no time. Mac and cheese was delicious and very filling. The meatloaf was good but it had way too much gravy on it for my liking. I think my only issue was that the waitress left my check while I was in the bathroom but never came back to pick up my cash. So I wasn't sure if it was like any other restaurant or like a Denny's where you pay at the front.. After about 10 minutes of waiting (which wasn't bad because, again, the weather was impeccable) I went inside and asked if I could pay. Overall it was a good experience. I would definitely come back if I end up in Fellsmere again.. I'm definitely impressed by the cuisine. :)

I usually would not write this bad a review but feel compelled to after the meal I had here. We went to this place in a large group. we were seated in a separate back room. Our server had a gauze bandage on his thumb when he took our drink order. The drinks are served in a Mason jar, country style cute. The place is decorated with stuffed animals, antlers and old time stuff. After a few minutes he returned, mentioned the Prime Rib special and took our order. An aquaintence of mine had recommended the Meatloaf so I ordered it along with Fries, Coleslaw, and Hushpuppies. My wife ordered the Sirloin Steak rare with glazed carrots, Mashed Potatoes with Butter not gravy, a side salad, and Corn Bread. One of our group ordered the BBQ Ribs and a salad while another ordered the Prime Rib with Collards. There were other dishes ordered by other of our group. About a 1/2 hour later the food started to arrive. The server, who now had a latex sleeve over the bandaged thumb, forgot to bring the salads in advance of the main meal and had to be reminded they had been ordered. Every meal except the Prime Rib was served. The waiter had to be reminded about it and it took 5 to 10 minutes to arrive and was then sent back because it was cold. By now the latex sleeve had been removed from the servers thumb but it was still bandaged. The Meatloaf, 1 small slice, served with a small glop of gravy, tasted heavily of bell pepper and was otherwise bland. The Hushpuppies were tasteless. My wife said the steak was cooked as ordered but she had to remind the server about the Mashed Potatoes. He then brought them covered in gravy and they had to be sent back and replaced, My wife and I ate for $40.00 but it was not money well spent and we will never return

My girlfriend and I just spent a week in Florida and were taken here by some friends that live locally year round. We both will try anything and were exited to see frog legs and alligator on a menu somewhere. And i must say both were very good and i highly recommend them. Their cornbread is AMAZING best I've ever had. I'm also a sucker for key lime pie and my eyes light up when i saw that on the menu. It was enjoyable but i honestly think it tasted identical to Emril Lagasse's recipe on FoodNetwork.com which i make on a regular basis. The wait staff was very kind and courteous even though we must stick out like sore thumbs having Boston accents in the south. That being said we came back on our final night because we enjoyed this place so much. We will defiantly be back on our next trip! oh and the Swamp Water is deadly good, tastes like there is no booze in it what so ever.

I really wanted to like this place... from the outside it was charming in terms of location. The aperitif was pricey and warm, it should be chilled and for the price I suppose I expected more. The food was bland and I was still hungry after I finished eating.

Located about 10 minutes off i-95, this place serves up fantastic ol' fashioned southern cooking. Special of the day was Chicken with Dumplings and a large biscuit. Delicious. The Chicken and Dumplings was flavorful with large pieces of shredded white meat and good sized dumplings. I don't know how they did it, but the biscuit was moist on the inside while still being light and airy. I also saw that they had Fried Green Tomatoes on the menu and could not pass it up. Breaded with cornmeal, the FGT's tasted nicely, although I wish they were coated with more cornmeal. It is definitely worth the short diversion from your trip to come to this gem of a place located in a sleepy southern town.

They should rename this place Harsh Landing. What a disappointment. I love frog and the legs were the worst I have ever had. The swamp cabbage soup was awful. I could go on but you get the idea. When we asked the waitstaff about various menu items they kept saying they never tried them..... lucky for them. We wasted a lot of time and gas getting to the restaurant....... There has got to be better old time Florida restaurants.... I hope so. AVOID this place.

Old Florida Cracker Restuarant. Frog legs, gator tail, fried pickles, fried green tomatoes, fried okra, and catfish. Plus quail, steaks and shrimp. Food is GREAT and reasonably priced for the quality. Live bluegrass on Thursday nights. The best for the area and it's located in a 1926 historic Fellsmere Farms office building with 18 ft ceilings. Great party rooms. It's rustic and country so don't let the mounted deer, ducks, and turkeys offend you. Been a patron since they opened in 2002.

First thoughts: Old, empty and filled with lots of stuffed dead animals. I wanted to like this place - I really did. My hairdresser swore by it but the online reviews I read in advance were so-so. I should have followed my instincts but I didn't. I dragged my husband and 3 kids there on a Sunday around 3 or 4 pm. We were the ONLY customers there. Bad sign. There was one waitress who did not look the least bit thrilled to have any walk-ins. Her dismay was very apparent through our entire meal. I had meatloaf and my husband had fried chicken. His meal was undercooked and still had some blood near the bone. Yuck. I didn't care for the meatloaf because it had olives in it (huh?!) but maybe it's a matter of preference so I tried to remain positive. The cornbread was very bitter. Two of the three kids lost their appetites after seeing my husband's meal so I hastily tried to scarf down their meals so this family dinner wasn't a complete bust. I also found it kind of gross that the waitress brought an entire jar of mayo and mustard from the kitchen fridge for my children to put on their hamburgers. Would it have killed her to put the condiments in side dish like any other restaurant? The only positive to this experience was all of the dead stuffed animals they had everywhere..kids thought that was interesting. I'll stick with Cracker Barrel next time I'm in the mood for some southern comfort food - that place is Beverly Hills compared to this old timer.

The food was okay. We went here at 7pm on a Sunday night. It was like a ghost town. After being sat, we waited for almost 10 minutes before a waitress came to get our drink order. The waitress could get do with a better attitude.

Alligator and pie. Mmmmm. The peanut butter pie is wonderful, with chocolate sauce and homemade whipped cream. The alligator is deep fried in a thick, hard crust. I prefer my fried alligator with a lighter, thinner crust (if anyone finds a place that makes alligator tempura, please let me know), but I'm grateful to be able to eat gator and was happy to eat here. My friends had fried chicken, which looked and smelled perfect, so I'm getting that (and pie) next time.

Neat old restored building. Lots of antiques and pictures. Food is good but a bit on the pricey side. Service was good. Plenty of seating for brunch. Not much around but makes a nice motorcycle ride.

My wife and I had a late lunch there yesterday, 11/28/2010, and it was excellent!! Our server was great, the food was prepared perfectly, and quickly. I tried the chicken salad sandwich with a side of coleslaw and my wife had the catfish lunch special with sides of collard greens, black eyed peas, and fried okra. Wow! The setting is really cool, in a historic landmark in Fellsmere.
