Sadly, the place has closed. Here is what I thought of it when it was open: The best Mexican food in Lake County. By far. This is the real deal, as good as anything I've experienced in South Texas or Arizona, or the interior of California. Reco came from several Mexican employees, and once we started going here we have not stopped. The ambience is....well...not. This is a restaurant in a Mexican grocery store/meat market, which is quite common in a lot of areas. Don't expect fine dining. Do expect the best tasting, most authentic, homemade Mexican you can buy in Central Florida. Tortillas are made there from scratch. So is the ice cream. Tacos are excellent, as are the tamales and tortas. Some amazing made from scratch salsas, too. Possibly my favorite dish: Camarones a la Diablo.

Wow! Amazing! Do not let appearances fool you. It looks shabby from outside and my first time I was very skeptical, however just give it a shot and you will never go to another Mexican restaurant again. BlaMy boyfriend and I have been here once before but I couldn't really remember what I had and since then gone vegetarian. I waited in the car as he went inside to get us some chow. I of course added a couple drops of the green sauce to my vegetarian taco and with my first bite.. In love. This is real flavor, real food for real cheap. The prices are too good for how amazing the food is. After my first bite he told me I was eating cactus. It's delicious!!! Just the perfect amount of crunch with the veggies. This is now my regular place to go to when I'm feeling Mexican.

nice decorations... friendly staff and clean place. now let's talk about the food... I'm somebody that has no salt so I requested my dish have a piece of chicken that had absolutely no seasoning on it and I was told that all the chicken is seasoned when I asked if they had at least one piece of chicken with no seasoning ( because in reality some people might be allergic to it) they told me NO so in my opinion if you go to a restaurant and you can't have things cook to the way that you like them it isn't worth going to.... the desserts are very good but the one that I had was a fried pita bread with vanilla ice cream sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar and then drizzled with a bunch of honey which in my opinion the honey spoiled everything and the ice cream on top of our hot fried pita bread made it turn rock hard really fast. so needless to say I ended up not eating there at all. BTW you can buy a bag of Pita bread for less than $5 which is what I paid for my horrible dessert.

This is not doubt the Best I have had in The Central Fl area. I was just their this last Saturday. This IS True Mexicana/Authentic Mexican cooking. This is not Tex Mex Chain style "mexicano" which is mostly served down here. ( The Only Exception to my Mexican rule is Chipotle, as before their IPO, It was ABC- for years!) And one of the Chains that I will go to here, because of that reason. Beans- Pinto and Black (which I didn't see on Menu) are the beans of Mexico, and here is is no exception. The pintos, were Not Mushy, Not a salt mine either. I missed the hint of Cilantro, and dried Epezote, but still no complaint. Main Course- I ordered the Chili Relleno- it was served in the traditional chili relleno way, stuffed with jack cheese and breaded with corn masa flour( NOT a covered battered up mess- looking like its a wanna be fritter.) The pablanos although differing flavor- no Seeds- and I could tell they were local or Southern grown. They were good. The rice- okay I confess, I really don't like Rice- but here- it was good. Enough for me to eat. On to the Grocery-which is good. The man in the grocery, possibly the owner, was rich in knowledge. He Knew I am a "Gringa" and was very kind to me ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gr… ). He also educated me on some things I hadn't ever seen. I bought, Dried Hominy for the Pesole, Spanish Chorizo used in Mexico, some local peppers- both dried and fresh Jalapenos, and queso fresco. The green chili was too hot to eat but I did try- It was very very seedy and too hot for me. The red chili was very good. There was only 1 other patron there when I was in the dinning area, watching a Soccer game, and eating away. I gave it a hole in the wall- cause that was meant as Compliment. I am not afraid hole in the wall, Pretense- be darned! I didn't see authentic appetizers such as Stuffed Jalapeno- Again not Fried in Sante Fe style cooking. In the West Denver Area- you can get 3 tacos for less then 2 bucks in Particular anywhere on Federal Blvd. Shoot a plate of 3 taco's, and 2 sides, are around $5. So, I had a little sticker shock. All in all, a fair price for Central Florida area. Sorry for my typos- again- its called part of illness. FYI -Colorado's Biggest Minority is Mexican/ Latino: *Colorado/US Census Bureau - 2011- White persons, percent, 2011 (a) 88.3% US-78.1% Black persons, percent definition and source info Black persons, percent, 2011 (a) 4.3% vs US- 13.1% Persons of Hispanic or Latino Origin, percent, 2011 (b) 20.9% vs US 16.7%)

Excellent authentic Mexican food. Cheap tacos (the carnitas and barbacoa I highly recommend.), Giant burritos, and fresh salsa with freshly fried chips and a Mexican coke in the glass bottle is hard to beat. Also a grocery and meat market.

It looks totally closed from the outside, black tinted window just a Restaurant sign on top, but when you walk in, it's clean and awesome Mexican food! Super yum and it can accommodate large parties!

Exterior had me confused as to if I was at the right place or not. But the food was delicious and fresh. They're green salsa was really spicy and flavorful. My wife and I both had burritos, both were great. If it was a little cleaner I would have given it 5 stars. On a side note there was a guy grilling and selling chicken in front of the place. It looked so good I'm still kicking myself for not getting one.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
