This is one of the few restaurants around that will cook my burger to perfection. Since I'm known as "cannibal" that means leaving my meat almost raw. Most restaurants buy cheaper cuts of meats and will not accommodate me, this place does it to perfection. Amy is a peach of a waitress, cannot do enough for you. I was lucky to meet her handsome son and gorgeous daughter the last time I was there. Both hard workers, and I admire that. Food is great, service absolutely wonderful, and the price is right, you can't ask for more than that!!!

New owner equals new and improved! Close to my home, this little sports bar offers good bar food (much improved from previous owner w/new menu) great service (ask for Andrea) and an owner who you will find expediting, greeting guests with his shining southern personality and truly cares about the business. Wing night on Tuesdays fills the place! We watched the entire football season from the bar and felt as if we were at home. Check it out. Buy the peanuts-they are from the owners family peanut farm in NC.

After ordering a pitcher of (watered down) Margaritas -- the party was over! We will NEVER BE BACK to the Norma Jean's in Englewood, FL. I ordered my same-o Pork Tenderloin sandwich like I always do at the Venice, FL location. Englewoods, was thin thin, dry, NO flavor, barely fit the bun! In Venice the tenderloin is twice the size of the bun and very flavorful. Two of the people I was dining with ordered the 12' Philly Cheesesteak. There was only enough meat on the bun for a 6" and it had twice the amount of peppers as meat. The Swiss cheese was actually some sort of horrible cheese sauce that would have been better left off. Another friend ordered the pulled pork sandwich. The pulled pork was VERY VERY old and extremely dry and crispy. The mango sauce on top was too hot to even eat. The hot over powered the taste of the mango. Never saw our gentleman waiter again. Finally flagged down a waitress to get us more ice for our margaritas. When our waiter did bring the check he asked how things were and we said VERY DISAPPOINTING! He came back 10 minutes later and said the manager was not there and he couldn't do anything but offer us dessert. One thing that disgust me when I am dining out, is after I am done with my plate that the waiter or bus person remove my plate. None of our partially finished plates was ever removed. WILL NEVER BE BACK TO THE NORMA JEAN'S IN ENGLEWOOD FLORIDA. WE JUST HOPE THE VENICE FLORIDA LOCATION HAS NOT CHANGED as it has been a couple months since we were there and has always been good.

We come here every year and the bar service has officially gone down hill. We went up to watch a game and have some cocktails. The game was on and the bartender was nice. Good start. We asked what time they closed. 10:00 and last call at 9:35. No problem. At 9:11 the bartender starts cleaning and spraying bleach+water around the back side of the bar. We start smelling bleach but not too strong. Then he sprays down the front side, including right in front of us. Eyes burning a little at this point. Calls last call at 9:15. The bar clears out, except for employees, we can't get another drink at 9:35 and he says he has to go. What?! We're spending $$, tipping 20% and he "has to shut it down early"? Very disappointing ending to an otherwise good night. Won't be spending any more $$ here because apparently they don't need it.

Update 2... They have added another rack of taps and now have rotating drafts of local beers. Big Fan of that. I am going to go ahead and bump them up to 5-stars based on that and the fact that I see Emmerson (owner) all over the Englewood supporting everything local (high school sports, local charities, and almost every city function)! I don't give out many 5-stars and not all stars are just food. The food is great bar-food but not the reason for 5-stars. There is much more to this place and rating than mere menu and decor.

It is a large open area Sports Bar, so obviously not a place for a quite dinning experience. Plenty of TV's, think one at every booth and on the walls. Fantastic for watching "the Game." We have had a long history of bad service and so-so to terrible food. But it is so darn close, we keep trying it every several months. We would really love to see the place work-out. They are getting better, only forgot the order of fries on 1 out of the four orders. Which turned out to be disappointing, for regular potato fries they seemed a bit too "potato-ee" and soft. I enjoyed the coleslaw, we ordered 2 burgers medium and 2 burgers medium rare. All four were cooked as ordered. I can not remember the last time [anywhere, not just here] that I actually got a hamburger cooked medium rare. Always get medium or well done, thank goodness for ketchup :-) We will be going back again and hopefully the wait staff will be improving over time; as the food has recently been. Two other couples that we have spoken to have both mentioned that the food has improved and that the staff is slowly getting better.

Took a friend over to have a drink and some wings what a mess. They had a party going on at the bar so we went to be seated at a table when my friend slipped on some spilled beer from the party. The hostess said nothing she could do they were so busy that they never cleaned up the spill or put any sign to let the patrons be aware of the spill. We asked if we could speak with a manager but none available so they sent the cook who told us that he only works there one day a week he could care less what happened. Finally they came back and said that some drunk at the bar said that my friend did not even fall. !!!!! What a slap in the face to us. I called the owner left him a message no response at all. My friend had bruises and scrapes on her knees and leg and arms. Apparently they only care about the money so they lose my business.
