This review is after giving them two visits. The wings are decent. I will give them credit for the fact that they are juicy and fresh tasting -- not overcooked, nor were they dried out like you find in so many wing places. The owner says he shops daily and that he chooses not to own a freezer because he doesn't believe in serving anything that's been frozen. For that, I also give him kudos. Unfortunately, the wing sauces need some work. The flavor of all the sauces we tried really was just OK. Not bad, but nothing to amaze your palate. The Becky's Fries - also just OK (sorry Becky). Butter and french fries don't work well together in my opinion and loads of butter is the secret sauce to these fries. The marinated chicken sandwich alone cost them a star. Yep, this would have been a 3 star review had it not been for the chicken sandwich. When you hear that they marinade their chicken for 24 hours before cooking, you'd think you were going to be in for a treat of very flavorful juicy chicken. Quite the contrary. The chicken was very very dry tasting and to make it worse, the chicken only covered half the bun that they brought it out on. I literally cut my bun in half and turned into a half sandwich to make the proportions correct. I really think the $0.93 beer is why this place is so highly rated It's certainly not the flavor of the food getting high marks. Someone else gave Chumlee's a bad review for not answering their phone. Believe it or not he admits to not answering the phone and almost seems to pride himself in the fact that he ignores the phone. He says he cares more about the customers that are in the store right now than he does answering the phone, so forget this place for take-out. He only wants your take-out business if he has an empty restaurant and it's convenient for him. Bad business if you ask me. Oh, one more -- get this -- he charges for ice!! Are you kidding me? $0.75 per cup! Next time we're in Bradenton/Sarasota looking for wings, we'll head on down to Wings N Things on Lockwood Ridge. Now those are some good wings!

I frequently make trips from Tampa to Miami, and often go out of my way to get these wings. It adds a few minutes to my trip but totally worth it. The wings are fresh, skin crispy, and meat juicy. My favorite flavor is the house sauce, but the lemon pepper honey is right up there too. Pricing is about the same as any wings place, yet the quality and taste is so much better. Highly recommend. Just writing this review has me hungry, and eagerly awaiting the trip that I have planned for next week.

Great wings and Grilled Cheese :). Very unique wings and the owner is super cool. Will let you sample the various favors before ordering. Try house or Jamaican me crazy

Wish I could do 2.5 stars. Wings were just ok. Nothing special about them. Meat and texture were nice, but they lacked flavor. I can't even describe their "house sauce" because it was so bland. At least they weren't greasy. The ranch dressing was quite good though.

We still don't understand why some people love this place. We've tried three times. Each time the service was poor, the wings long-overcooked, and the ambience nonexistent. It's a wing shop in a nearly defunct shopping center and, really, not worth the trip.

Our favorite wing place! If you like wings - it is a must try! Not sure on which sauce, just ask for a sample.

Best wings in town! Which is a shame considering the owner, Chumlee has a real attitude problem. I'd eat there all the time if it wasn't for that. It amazes me to see an owner act like that and expect to do well. All that aside, you really can't get better wings anywhere in the area. Now if only the price of the wings matched the price of the beer.

If your looking for real Buffalo style wings you will not be disappointed. Don't forget their 1.00 dollar beers. Don't fear their hot sauce it's delicious.

Amazing. I had half of my blue cheese remaining and didn't care. Perfectly cooked wings- amazing sauces. Friendly and super funny staff. Small place, but I'd sit in the grass for these wings.

Great beer prices and delicious wings! Colorful characters inside add to the experience!

"Awesome, awesome, awesome!" This is a true diamond in the ruff. Great service, excellent food & a great time for enjoying games on big screens and game of corn hole if you choose.

Let me start by telling you how much of a wing snob I am. I try wings and any and every restaurant, bar, dive, or other buffalo infused hole in the wall. I am ALWAYS disappointed. I think I put the wing on a pedestal. Well folks, this is the real deal. These a wings. These are real wings. These are great! I was down from the Midwest visiting friends who insisted that this would cure my disappointment. They were right. Chumlee is a character who some may not appreciate. But if you don't like him, wear ear plugs and eat. The house wings are the best wing I've ever had. I ate 20. I also tried about 8-9 other sauces and was not disappointed by a single one. These aren't the wings that your local bar drenched in store bought buffalo sauce; these are fresh, delicious, and clearly made by someone who has pride in what they do. Bottom line: if you want a real wing, with real flavor, this is what you strive for. You will not be disappointed.

I was visiting my family here in Bradenton. They wanted to get wings at their usual spot. I suggested we try Chumlee's based on the positive yelp reviews. We arrived 20 minutes before closing. The owner said they closed early and do so often if business slows down. Make sure you arrive at least an hour before closing or you too could go home wingless.

Definitely some of the best wings I ever had. So many flavor choices to choose from. We had the hot and garlic parm, both perfect. I tried the fried broccoli but they were a bit over done. I'll be back for wings and fries but skip the fried veggies. The place is very small so you will mostly likely have to eat out side or do takeout. I hear the owner was an a$$hole but I'm married to a self proclaimed one so we all got along fine. The waitress was great and service was fantastic.

For as small as this place is it manages to make some pretty good food. It does annoy me that their website still says they deliver yet they do NOT! They have a variety of sauces (which are all really good) which makes it even harder to choose. Their prices for regular smaller things like chicken nuggets and just plain cheeseburgers are a bit on the pricey side so since you have to go to pick it up anyway you may as well make the trip to McDonald's.

If this place is the best place for wings in the area, I feel sorry for the poor people of Bradenton/Sarasota because you guys are missing out on what good wings really are. After reading reviews, we didn't bother calling ahead, we figured we would just go, order there, and take it home. We drove a good distance because of the reviews that Chumlee's has received. My wife went in to order and while waiting, a decent size party came in and ordered their food. As my wife was waiting, their food came out and was served to them. They walked in 5 to 10 minutes after my wife ordered and got their food first. After receiving our order, we drove home excited to try our wings. What a disappointment. First of all, My wife ordered 20 wings for me and they only gave us 10. Also, I like my wings med to hot and after trying the sauce in house, ordered medium. My wings weren't even close to medium. They were swimming in FAKE butter (Google "whirl butter flavored oil") with little streaks of hot sauce here and there. Disappointing in every respect. We will not return.

Found this little spot through Yelp and I was very pleased. When I first walked in I was hesitant as to how I would be treated because believe it or not racist folk still live in America. NOT HERE! The owners are so friendly and entreating. They made us feel at home and the gentleman owner sat and talked to us the entire time---good and interesting conversation at that. Okay I'm sure you want to hear about the food too. The chicken and sauces are AWESOME! Fried just right! They will allow you to sample the flavors prior to ordering. Their chicken is purchased fresh daily. I'm from Delaware and we make it our business to eat everywhere--chicken is my favorite food when cooked right and this was a top five for me. Great service plus great food equals another customer. We will make this a "must visit" whenever we return.

We got take out. I wanted to eat there but my boys (the chihuahuas) were a little stressed from our drive. These were so good as take out, I can't imagine how great they would have been if we ate there!! If you are in the area, you love good wings, you gotta stop by!!!

  • Casey L.

Great wings and great service! The owner is always there and very spirited. The place is small, so be ready to make friends! We always have a blast when we go here!!

So I have read several reviews for this place. One gave 1 star because they had to wait 20 min for a menu. To clarify, that person is an idiot because the menu is and always has been sitting at the table from the start. So ignore the trolls because the wings are delicious and the service is good. Combined with cheap beer at 93 cents and you have a great little place to eat.

I drive by here often and never knew this restaurant was off 301. My Fiancée heard about it from some of her med school friends who frequent Chumlees and wanted to give it a try. The plaza that it is in is pretty run down and empty, but upon clearing the abandoned supermarket, we found about a dozen people outside playing corn hole and having a great time. The inside was pretty packed too. For appetizers we tried the stuffed jalapeños which were OK. I wasn't a big fan of the cheese so next time we may try the fried veggie sampler. We ordered their specialty wings; the sweet Jamaican and the Amy's Blackened Asian. The blackened Asian was hands down the most unique, crunchy, and juicy wings I've ever tried. They blow hooters, wing house, Buffalo Wild Wings out of the water. I think the most unique thing about this place is how all of the customers were treated like family. The service was warm and welcoming and everyone was having a great time. The owner, Chumlee, came over and introduced himself and asked how everything was and was very friendly. He told us that he was in construction for a number of years and decided to open a restaurant which he clearly has passion in. Draft beer is $.93 which is cheaper than the soda and bottled water which is pretty awesome. I don't drink but my fiancée enjoyed a cup. They are very LEO, MIL, and EMS friendly if you are in uniform, which I was yesterday. I definitely look forward to returning and getting another basket of those blackened chicken wings.

I have to say that I was quite surprised by this restaurant. It is located in a nondescript, run-down plaza near Ellenton, Florida. If you're not careful you will drive right past it. Thanks to Yelp, my wife and I stumbled across this place and decided to give it a chance. We ordered four types of wings: parmesan garlic, asian, blackened, and hot. Of all of them our favorite was the blackened. The parmesan garlic was our least as the flavors we're muddled and bland. The wings were cooked perfectly. The sauces were applied liberally and the flavors we're not overwhelming. We will definitely be back to get more wings in the near future for ourselves and our family!

These are the best wings in Manatee county. I love the garlic parmesean wings. Chumlee is there every day and is fun to talk to. Happy to have such a good wing place close by.

Awesome wings!!!! The fried veggies and cheese fries with bacon are terrific too.

Great wings with a wide variety of sauces to choose from. Cant beat .93 cents beers either.

Loved it! At first site I was a little hesitant to go in with all the activity outside.. But so glad we stayed! The owner is super nice. Our server, an elderly gentleman, was so friendly and gave us the scoop on all the fun little events they offer and they even raise money for charity. The wings and sauces were good and it was just a pleasant casual dining experience.. Don't pass this place up!

Stopped by Chumlee's on a weeknigh a couple months back while visiting friends in the area. They are regulars and love this place so I agreed, although I'm not a huge fan of wings. Place was packed but we managed to snag a table outside as a party was getting up. Chum himself came out and took our order, which came out pretty quickly. He explained as my friend had already that the reason people love this place is because he gets up super early every morning to hand pick the chicken he uses or something like that. Made a believer out of me either way as the wings and sauce were delicious and I will definitely return next time I'm in the area.

This place may be great, but we wouldn't know because they don't answer their phone. 6 calls over 60 minutes and no answers.

Ordered 40 wings as takeout today and they did not disappoint. We tried the Asian, Blackened, Hot, and Garlic Parmesan. The blackened were my favorite. It was a dry rub that was full of flavorful spices. I much prefer the Buffalo Wild Wings Garlic Parm sauce over these. This was a parmesan sauce with actual minced garlic all over it. It wasn't bad by any means, just not my favorite. The hot wings were tasty and not that hot, which I prefer. The Asian had a great flavor as well. I did not see a menu for this place, my husband just called in an order, but I would definitely come back here and try the other flavors. There is no other place in the area that has wings like these.

We are on vacation and found this little gem while traveling down rt301. Stuck at the end of the deserted strip mall we weren't sure what to think when we pulled up to this place. We decided to risk it and take a shot. We are also glad that we did! We went in and sat down. We were immediately greeted by the owner Chumlee himself. They let you test out their sauces before ordering which was very helpful. Highly recommend the deep-fried vegetables. We all order different flavored wings and they were all excellent! Next time we are in the area we will definitely be back to Chumlee's.

My fellow classmates and I have recently become Chumlee Diehards. I don't make the next statement lightly, these are the BEST wings I have ever eaten in my life. Chumlee does everything right, dedicated wing fryers, never frozen chicken, delicious handcrafted sauces, masterful time and temperature frying, and an unrivaled sense of hospitality. I have now referred everyone I know to this great establishment, and have had 4 others also make the statement "best wings ever". You can read all these reviews or you can go try it for yourself. Please do the latter. You will not regret it.

Only average wings, nothing special at all. The hype far exceeds the actual wings. We got two orders to go and both were undercooked. Nothing you can't get already at you local favorite wing place. We won't be back.

It's OK. Did not live up to hype. Wings are good, but not the greatest ever as described by others. Onion rings were decent also. Small location made for take out.

Not bad pretty good wings, only thing I find odd is there menu doesn't have much to offer,I guest the main business is wings and beer.

  • Anthony G.

Food is actually pretty good. Reason for 2 stars is because when the order was called in, the order was being verified with my group. When the order was picked up the owner (I'm guessing) said, "next time you call in an order make sure you have it ready and make sure there is no noise in the background. I do well enough to not have your business....." Well, really really poor customer service. Not the way to run a business or treat customers.

There is no better place for wings!! The wings are big and cooked perfectly. I LOVE the Habanero sauce. It is amazing! There is no competition in whole county! You have to try this place!

Visiting town on business and needed a chicken wing fix. All the hotel clerk could tell me was "Ruby Tuesdays" had decent ones - glad I didn't listen to her. Other "yelpers" said great things about this place so off I went in search of their find. I've had good wings, bad wings, excellent wings... tiny wings, small wings and decent sized wings. I'm by no means an expert, but I will say these were as close to PERFECT as they come. They were meaty, done to the perfect crispness, and had an outstanding "secret house sauce".The restaurant is super clean, and the folks that run it are great hosts. I there at a good time because by the time I was finished, it was starting to get busy. My biggest disappointment.....is that Chumlees is a three hour drive from my house!!!

First of all let me admit I don't like wings. I like wing sauce, but wings themselves are just too much trouble to eat. I was taken to this restaurant by relatives because my grandson wanted wings for his birthday (and they had never been there before either). I figured there would be something else for me to get by on. There were a number of choices--I selected "chicken fingers" (insert joke about not knowing chickens had fingers here). The fingers are quite large and available with the same sauces you can get on the wings. What a great way to enjoy the taste without the hassle. I've accompanied many folks who like wings to eat at various restaurants, and usually the wings come in 4 levels of hot (known by different names in different eateries). Chumlee's had about 10 different wing sauces, and will bring you samples to taste before you order. I selected bacon-ranch, and IT WAS GOOD, and unlike the usual 4 sauces of other wing places. And I've never seen my friends eating wings that were this big and meaty at other restaurants. It's got to be the best wing place I've ever been to. Draft beer for 93 cents. I'm not making this up! Then add in Chumlee himself. What a personable guy. Treated us like we had come to visit him in his home. A really welcoming host. The restaurant is small--seats about 20 inside and 12 out front at picnic tables. It is located in a strip shopping center (last business to the right). You have to look for it but, it is worth the little bit of trouble.

This place is amazing! A wide assortment of wing sauces to choose from! I had the cheese fries with bacon bits for an appetizer (big portion!) and washed it down with ten wings. The 'Nasty Larry Wing Sauce' is their hottest and it was awesome!! I also had the bacon ranch wings. Its a dollar extra to split orders with different sauces. They also have dollar drafts all day every day! Car shows and cornhole are a familiar attraction. Mr. Chumlee auctually came to the table and talked with me....nice guy! Ill definatley be back.....great wings, cold beer and friendly atmosphere. There seemed to be some regulars there, which shows you they are doing something right. Chumlee said he's only been open for 8 months. 5 stars for me!

I am a Chumlee's regular. Whenever I think about wings, I think of Chum's. This is one of those local treasure, hole in the wall places that you'll be glad you visited. Chumlee is a great guy and goes out of his way to make his patrons feel at home. If you're looking for some Southern hospitality paired with the best wings in town, this is the place to go!

By far the best wings in the area, they are huge! I love the dry rubs and the bacon cheese fries are awesome! Throw in cheap beer and you have a WINNER!

Chumlee's has the best wings I've ever eaten, period. Better than the wings at Duff's and Anchor Bar in Buffalo, and certainly better than those crappy chains. On top of that, cheap beer and friendly people. A can't miss for casual, tasty dining.

Great wings ! Super sauces !! Excellent service ! Love the 93 cent beer !
