It's not often I give 5 stars, but it was an excellent meal from beginning to end. At first I thought the prices were a bit high but as soon as the child's portion of fettuccine Alfredo came out, I was convinced that not only was it will priced, it was high quality. The service was great, very friendly and helpful as well as attentive. Fresh warm bread was brought out with seasoned olive oil, and it was difficult not to fill up on that alone. Then the garlic knots, came... whew, hard to stop eating the butter, garlicy, cheesy goodness. The eggplant parm was perfection as was the fettuccine alfredo. Our server recommended the Scalloppine del mio amore (chicken, artichokes, mushrooms, pancetta, buttery caper sauce) and it was wonderful, with the chicken cooked perfectly and the sauce soaked up by perfectly cooked pasta. We had to get dessert as we're fans of dessert and the tirimisu did not disappoint. I can't wait until we go back.

So far beyond a tourist spot! If you love and cherish fine cuisine, you can search high and low, you will not find better! I visit Destin frequently for vacations. However, my vacation is not right until Mimmo's is involved. It is a small quaint family owned restaurant that cares for their product. Attention All Foodies: You must eat here!

I can't bring myself to give away five stars or I would! Service: Mackenzie was so great! Very nice and left a good amount of time between our courses so we could digest and relax. Food: I got the linguine corleone and my husband got the linguine vongole and both were pretty good and reasonably priced. As an appetizer we got the calamari and garlic bread and wow it was AWESOME. Yes the garlic bread is an appetizer on the menu so there is an extra cost involved but totally worth it! Overall we would come back again the atmosphere is also very nice!

This was a suggestion from some very good friends who know good food. Having wanted to try something new that was not available when we lived here we chose to give Mimmo's a try. I shared a plate of the Calamari with my wife as a starter. This is all fresh octopus that has been lightly breaded and flash fried. It was nicely cooked and not tough or chewy. The size of the portion was perfect for two people. I personally had the Pasta Carbonara with Italian meat and white onions for my min course. This dish is a nice sized portion of pasta and sauce. The taste was even throughout the plate. The sauce was not overwhelming however there was a large amount of butter/oil left at the end when I was finished with the pasta. I'm not concerned with calories right now but it could be a turnoff for other people. I did however really enjoy the dish and would order it again on my next visit. For dessert I chose the Tiramisu from the menu. I believe this is made in house and was very flavorful. The sweet cream used to layer the cake fingers was quite good and they use just the right amount of coffee liquor to soak them in. This is always the highlight of a visit when it's done correctly, and the Tiramisu at Mimmo's is done right. Overall this was a great experience and we will visit again in the future.

Amazing, amazing Italian spot nestled next to Another Broken Egg Cafe. It's easy to miss from the street due to the angle of the building. We almost didn't come here because we'd eaten "Italian" (pizza from Fat Clemenza's) the night before and the fiance and his brother were not up to another Italian place. But boy, were they raving about Mimmo's for days after. Like others, we did have some trouble finding it at first. We'd spotted the shopping center sign with Mimmo's at the top, but couldn't find the actual establishment until we circled around a second time. We ended up being early for our 7:30 reservation (I'd made the reservation just two hours beforehand with no problems, and it was a Saturday). But that didn't seem to be an issue -- the place was hopping, but not too crowded just yet. To start, we got the calamari and the garlic rolls. The calamari was light, crispy and not greasy at all. I found the marinara a bit too tart for my liking, however. The garlic rolls... HEAVEN. That garlic butter that was poured on top of the rolls was killer! The rolls themselves were perfectly crusty on the outside and pillowy soft inside. I was amused to see they were actually really knots. On to my entree, and the whole reason I wanted to go to Mimmo's in the first place -- the linguine vongole in white wine sauce. It did not disappoint. There were 8 or so baby clams still in their shells, but most of the clams were already shelled and chopped up. It definitely hit the spot, so tasty and definitely the best white clam linguine I've ever had. My breath was pretty kicking afterwards, though -__- We finished off this perfect meal with a couple of tiramisus. My only complaint was that the pieces were not bigger! The interior is very cool, the way. The restaurant doesn't look like much from the outside -- you walk in thinking it's going to be this teeny little joint, and it turns out it is a cavernous establishment complete with wrought-iron chandeliers throughout, an exposed oven covered in stones and a bona-fide "tunnel" leading to the restrooms. There is so much to look at within the restaurant. The owner did a great job picking out the decor. This is going to be our new must-stop place in Destin. Forget the tourist trap seafood restaurants, Mimmo's is where you need to be!

The family and I decided to get off the 10 freeway and make a detour to Destin. Getting to the restaurant was an adventure. Destin is a happening place! The streets of Destin were packed with traffic. It was hard to get anywhere. Then my Garmin GPS took me to the wrong place. When I called, the person answering was not too helpful in providing direction. But, after 30 minutes of being lost in Destin, the family and I finally showed up. We were quickly seated and given menus. We ordered an Linguine Vongole, and a Mimmo's Pizza. While waiting for the food, they brought out bread for us. After 7 hours of driving, the bread was exactly what I needed. Minutes later, both the Linguine Vongole and the Pizza came out. The Linguine Vongole was very good. It had lots of sauce and contained real clams with shells. The sauce was nice and garlicky. Both the wife and I liked it. The Mimmo's Pizza had Prosciutto di Parma, mushroom, tomatoes, cheese and tomato sauce. The daughter liked the pizza. She had several pieces of it. I'm not much of a pizza eater, I thought it was okay. I liked that they were able to customize the pizza and have one side with no cheese on it. Mimmo's is a nice little place in Destin. Don't rely on your GPS to get here. Hopefully, if you ask for directions, they will be nice and tell you. I don't know about their other food, but, the Linguine Vongole was good, and my daughter approves of the pizza.

If you go for just the bread and dipping sauce that they give you at arrival, then you will leave happy. However, stay for the authentic Italian food, it's amazing. My 19 year old says go for the handsome staff....hehe Every dish was perfect and the tiramisu was licking the plate good.

Reviewed on Yelp. We were HUNGRY since we skipped lunch while on the beach. Went at 4:30. Don't let the fact that this place is in a strip mall fool you. Once you take that step inside its a total transformation. Nicely lit (kinda dim). Great bar area. Our party of 4 sat at a booth. Waitress was very good. I had the special Salmon with lump crab sauce over linguine. Others had lobster ravioli, manicotti, and penne pasta with vodka sauce. All were fantastic. Once again, Yelp reviewers didn't disappoint. Family wanted to give this a 5 star - it's really hard for me to give those so easily. This is a wonderful place.

Our dinner at Mimmo's Ristorante Italiano on February 14th 2015 was one of the most disappointing Italian meals I have ever had. Wine: The wine selection was terrible and consisted mostly of cheap wines that retail for $10 or less. My husband and I ordered one of the more expensive bottles of Italian Chianti, but it was barely drinkable. Bread: The complimentary bread (not to be confused with Mimmo's famous Italian garlic rolls) tasted stale and bland. It was difficult to sop up the olive oil and cheese since the bread was toasted. Appetizers: We could not stop laughing when our waitress brought our Piatto All'Italiana appetizer to the table. Who on earth puts rolled up turkey lunchmeat or carrot shavings on an Italian charcuterie plate?!?! Mimmo's menu describes the appetizer as: "Prosciutto di Parma, salami, ham, fresh mozzarella, cherry tomatoes, fresh basil, Mediterranean olives and a cheese trio." Instead we were served an appetizer that resembled a cheap lunchmeat deli platter. The fresh mozzarella was the only redeeming item on this platter. Salad: Our waitress forgot about the Caesar salad we ordered so she served the salad with our entrees. The dressing on the Caesar was terrible and tasted more like ranch than Caesar dressing. Entree: My husband was not a fan of the sweet sauce served over his steak. I had a bite and had to agree that the sauce was terrible. My lasagna was ok, but not great. After reading the glowing Yelp reviews my conclusion is that: A. The restaurant was having an off night. B. The kitchen recently changed food distributors. C. There is a new cook in the kitchen.

Wife and I were on vacation from Dallas. We wanted to have good Italian food on our last night. This place did not disappoint. Food was fantastic...wife had the Salmon and I had Mimmo's Marsala. Alicia our server was terrific and very attentive. She knew the menu as well as the nights specialty menu. Do not pass this place by. Go early as it fills up fast.

The wife and I wanted to take a break from the seafood so we decided to try this place out since we love Italian food. Mimmo's has a great atmosphere and the layout is very nice. Our waiter was nice and friendly and he kept up with the refills and everything. As for the food we ordered some garlic rolls to start and both had the spaghetti. The garlic rolls were delicious and we almost filled up mostly on them before our entree's came out. Our spaghetti's were both tasty as well, although I will say I've experienced somewhat better at other places. All in all the place has some great food and a great atmosphere if you're looking to take a break from seafood for a night.

The garlic bread sticks were very garlicky, but overall the experience and food was fantastic! Will absolutely come back!

The food is good (We had the bolognese $15+ and penne a la vodka $15+), but overpriced. The portions are average or small (considering the price). You're paying for the ambiance and the "experience" that goes with it (it has a super modern style). I would say it was more of a 3.5 in terms of quantity+quality for the money, but went with a 4 for the friendly staff, speed of being seated and fast arrival time of our food after ordering. We were there around 7:30pm on a Tuesday. The place was busy but not crazy.

Great pizza! We have. The Zio Filippo snd Mimmos's pizza.. Just perfect. The real Italian pizza. Maurixio the "pizzaiolo" takes a lort os pride of his work and the result is a great product.

If I could give six stars I would! Any bad reviews on here are mind blowing to me. My family and I stumbled upon this place while on vacation and are SO happy we did. We all got something different and loved both our own entrées and each others. The staff was super friendly and on point. The ambiance was very nice and there is one large TV overlooking the bar area which had the hockey playoff game on. Drinks were great and the food was freaking awesome! If you are looking for a delicious family run Italian restaurant, this is it!!!

Fantastic doesn't even begin to describe my experience with Mimmo's. I was planning my wedding in Destin from up in Boston and was on the prowl for food for our reception. I didn't want to go the traditional catering route and decided to look up highly rated restaurants. Thanks to Yelp, I found Mimmo's. I spoke with Mimmo directly, who could not have been more accommodating. There were a few times I was a bit confused on what needed to happen and when, but he was so easy to talk with that everything was solved easily. Actually it was so easy I was positive that it wasn't going to work. On the day of my wedding I picked up our dinner for 10 and was surprised to find that we could have easily fed a small army. There was SO MUCH food! And the best part?! It was delicious! The garlic antipasti plate was fantastic and the garlic knots were out of this world. Everyone loved the grilled rack of lamb and the Chicken Marsala too. When I'm back in Destin I will DEFINITELY be stopping by the restaurant to eat in house and I recommend you do the same!

We ate there last night and the food was wonderful! This is our first time to Destin and we don't know much about the restaurant scene. Everyone was craving Italian and after some of the reviews we decided on Mimmos. I had the Mimmos veal Marsala, it was outstanding. My husband loved his spaghetti bolognese. We had three kids with us and they were all pleased. The kids pizza is HUGE! We are "foodies" and sometimes difficult to impress with restaurants - I was very pleasantly surprised and impressed by this place. Put it on your list to try when in Destin!

Most Italian places in this area are chock full of disappoints. But... NOT MY MIMMO'S!! I checked out this place since it first opened and have gone a few times. The downside may be the lack of atmosphere for their outdoor seating. But the indoor space is nice. Most importantly, the food is delicious. I've had their chicken masala and a few other pastas and each entree have been delicious! Amazing sauces. Definitely worth a visit if you're a fan of Italian food.

Do not let the strip mall location fool you. Amazing red snapper w spinach! Wish i had enjoyed a glass of wine along with it. Do not miss the caprese pizza - luscious red tomatoes.

Last time I was in I tried the pizza and it did not disappoint. The starter for the night was the mussels. They were good, but the bribe they were soaking in was awesome. I was a little worried as the last time I went here they seemed a bit off their game. I highly recommend the ravioli it was scrumptious!!

  • April N.

This was BY FAR the most amazing meal we had on vacation!!! There were 12 of us and every single person LOVED their meal. A few of the items were the Alfredo, lasagna, pizza, ravioli (so quite the variety). My favorite part of the meal was the garlic knots... Those were AMAZING!! I highly recommend Mimmo's and will definitely visit again!!

  • Nate S.

The food we ordered was decent, but not amazing. The pasta was overcooked, and the portions were comically large. Not much in the way of flavor offered. I found the host annoyingly pretentious for someone greeting people in a strip-mall Italian restaurant. Sadly, this is probably one of the better places to eat in Destin. Good stuff? It's mostly not overpriced for the area, and our waitress was helpful.

Found this one on a random search hoping to find a place that offered late dinner service. Although they close at 10 pm and we arrived at 9 pm. Service was awesome. No rush to get in or out. And flavor was outstanding. Having grown up in an Italian home it was great to see dishes that were cooked in my home as a child. My wife and I sampled each other's dishes as we always do and I was not disappointed. If you don't visit you are missing one of the finer attraction in this area. Alicia was a great server and attended every request.

Fantastic Italian restaurant. The olive oil mixture and bread they serve for the table is delicious. Mimmo"s chicken Marsala is amazing! It is made with a touch of cream so the sauce is incredible!

  • Arturo M.

The food and ambience of this restaurant were amazing! The food is as authentic as you can get and the pricing is within reason. My family and I had some awful experiences at other restaurants on our Destin vacation (see my other reviews), but this place made up for it. We were able to meet Mimmo himself and our server was also great. It could use some music to liven up the place, but other than that, it was a great secluded restaurant for the entire family.

  • Henry H.

I brought in a group of 11 Italians and everyone had a great meal! The grouper special for the evening was excellent and the calamari appetizer was some of the best calamari we have ever had. The service was fantastic and if this wasn't the last night of our vacation we would go back again. Great food and great price, we definitely recommend Mimmo's.

We came to eat at this small hole in the wall Italian restaurant because of all the good reviews we saw on yelp. The ambience of the restaurant is very good. The food however left us very disappointed. My wife had The daily special which was gnocchi with a tomato, eggplant and mint marinara sauce. There was no eggplant to be found. Gnocchi themselves for a little chewy. I had Mimmo's special marsala with Veal. It did not taste remotely like marsala. The sauce that was slathered on the veal had the taste and consistency of ketchup and mayonnaise mixed together. The vehicle itself was very tender and cooked well. The angel hair pasta was also cooked well. Overall the dish lacked flavor. If you do come here I would definitely recommend The garlic knots. The bread was perfect perfectly cooked. The butter sauce was very good but if you're looking to conserve calories don't get this dish!

Amazing snapper (local from Destin harbor) in crab meat sauce with spinach. My husband loved the tortellini too!! A definite must.

The best Italian food in Destin. Our waitress was friendly and helpful. We had the eggplant parmigiana and the veal parmigiana. Both were excellent.

There is no words to explain the magnificence of what I just ate. The food is out of this world, the gnocchi was a pasta I've never tasted in my life, it was the most tastiest stuffed pasta I ever had. So much flavor, so bold. My dad had the eggplant: it had an unbelievably good taste, unlike anything I had before. Their Alfredo sauce cannot be fuller, with every serving the flavor traveled, and transformed into this unexplainable a-ray of favors; like a colorful audio wave made in a mineral crystal cave. Their customer service was so entertaining, kind, conservative; such expertise, it was outstanding! I'm SO coming back to mimmo's

Tucked away in a strip mall this place is out of this world! The staff and atmosphere is authentic Italian and wonderful. We had the brick oven mimmos pizza and chicken scaloppine del mio amore. Both were light and delicious. Be sure to try the amazing tiramisu as well!

  • Alyssa Y.

Alright food with not so great service. Our waitress was amazing, but the waiters and host were a little rude. We didn't get our bread until AFTER our dinner arrived. We got the simple fettucini alfredo, which was good, but not enough pasta or taste for the price.

Amazing as usual! We always visit when we are here from Houston. Service is usually really good and the food is always Great!!! The meatball and Sausage appetizer is soo... Good. The pizza and calzones will not disappoint. My son loved the chicken tenders. I highly recommend this place. Very authentic food!

I live in FWB and I rarely go to Destin during the "busy" parts of the year. My family spent today giving our out of town guests a tour of the area. Italian was suggested and on a whim we tried Mimmo's. Our party consisted of 3 very tired/worn out picky eating kids, my wife and her brother and his wife. The moment we walked in, I expected the look of the staff to be one of sheer psnic. To my surprise, they were extremely welcoming and very hospitable. Our waitress even helped keep all the kids busy with little pieces of pizza dough. The food was awesome and well priced for quality and portion size. I will keep Mimmo's as my new go-to Italian spot in the area.

Love this place!! Best Italian in the Destin area, hands down. Must try the Melenzana Alla Siciliana. It's one of the best things I've ever eaten.

  • Becky H.

Delicious food, great prices, great service! The decor is cozy & inviting, not at all what we expected for a strip mall restaurant. I had the pasta carbonara - delicious! I would order it again. Everything on the menu looked fabulous, I'll be back!

5 stars is a bold move and it singlehandedly deserves every one. Mimmo the owner is present and welcomes you. That is always a good sign in a restaurant. The inside is beautiful. Mimmos offers a variety of speciality drinks and Classic Italian wine shipped from Italy. I just returned from studying abroad in Italy and have been craving authentic Italian. Mimmos made me feel like I was back enjoying the Tuscany sunset while enjoying eggplant Parmesan and tiramisu. The tiramisu was truly some of the best I've ever had. It wasn't as bitter like it sometimes is. The chopped salad was light but filling. Very attentive and friendly staff! A must when you are in Destin. Their fresh seafood makes for a delicious pasta!

Great place to eat, hidden in a strip mall. The place is ran by real Italians. Everything is awesome, from their wood fired pizza, their pasta, to their amazing garlic bread! On top of that, they take reservations which is a big deal in an area plagued with long waits to eat. They do a great job and give excellent service.

Absolutely LOVED!!! We are a family of 5 with 4,8 and 11 year olds. The pizza chef was so good with the kids and the brick oven kept them fully entertained! Our waitress Elianna (sorry if we spelled it wrong) was so great and personable! Thanks for a great experience. This was our 1st trip to Destin, 5th day and BEST meal :)

Went there last night, had the Satlimbocca di Vitello. it was great. You really pay or not pay for location, it is in a mall. Although casual, really nice inside. Will definitely keep coming back.

Every time we come to Destin we make it a must do to eat here. This time I had the eggplant parmigiana and my husband had the clams with linguini in a red sauce. That eggplant parmigiana was one of the best that I have ever had! The eggplant was layered with parmesan, ricotta, mozzarella cheeses along with a béchamel sauce. It was creamy crispy goodness! My only regret was that I could not finish it off! Evidently the clams were good since my husband cleaned his plate! For dessert we splurged and had the cannelloni cream cake, yum! To accompany this meal we had a bottle of the Conde Sangiovese wine that was offered as one of the specials. Great wine at a decent price! Service was good as always. We will be back!

Great food, very good service and really cute restaurant with nice details. The bar has a brick backsplash that goes to the ceiling, chandeliers are hanging from a warehouse-like open ceiling, and there is a brick pizza oven in the far left corner with a granite bar wrapped around it. The owner is younger and from Southern Italy. He was there cooking some of our food the night we dined there. My dad is Italian as well and after eating the spaghetti thought it was the best sauce (besides his own of course) that he has had in a restaurant. Quite the compliment!!! Mimmio's is right next to 'Another Broken Egg' on the main strip in front of 'Winn Dixie'. Go and check it out if you are in Destin and want a break from seafood.

My Husband and I drove an hour to eat here. We had two year old and seven month old with us. We were eating, kids being quiet, and the waitress comes up behind my seven month old and starts talking to her. I know she was just being nice, but you just don't do that. My daughter started crying hysterically. We picked her up and she calmed down. We start eating and the waitress did it again! We just got our food to go since this lady clearly doesn't know boundaries.

Fantastic. Amazing. Wonderful. Marvelous. This little unassuming place is in a small strip mall next to a bunch of other crap undeserving of sharing a space with this place. I initially came here a few months ago with my mom, and returned later with a friend. We are all huge fans of this place, and if I could just take up residence on a cot in the back and wash dishes in exchange for food, I totally would. Good God. On my first visit, I chose the penne alla caprese (sautéed cherry tomatoes in a garlic, olive oil and white wine sauce topped with fresh basil and Mozzarella over penne pasta), hesitant of the attached $17 price tag. I am not one to willingly part with that kind of money for something I can make myself at home (usually, better than wherever I'm dining) for a fraction of the cost. But this time, I was overwhelmed at how good it was - I'd willingly go back and sign over anything of value that I have for this dish. It was so simple, and yet so tasty and SO perfectly seasoned. It needed no extra salt (and I love me some salt), pepper, or even Parmesan cheese. It was just a perfect execution of simple, fresh ingredients. Awesome. My second visit was just as great - I think I got the vegetariana pizza, but I might've been in too much of an Italian-induced haze of excitement to remember actually eating the food. Anyway, you also get bread service for dinner, which comes with a fantastically and perfectly-seasoned olive oil dipping sauce. The place IS a little pricey for me to come very often (but competitively priced with any other quality Italian restaurant, and...it's in Destin), but the price is absolutely worth the quality of food and great atmosphere.

Having lived in Chicago and NY, we've had some really good Italian. Having had Italian in Italy it spoils you for everything else here in the states. Very pleasant surprise to find this restaurant here in Destin FL. Owners are Italian speaking Italians. Food is authentic. Sauces are spot on. Pastas are done to perfection. Brick oven pizza was excellent. Salads were very good too. In the south everywhere you go the food is always so salty. Not here. Seasoned just right. Waitresses are chilis or applebees level but no restaurant is perfect. Dirty martini was excellent. Work this place into your schedule and go!

For the life of me I did not know this little jewel has existed for a year. I went with the wife for a quick bite and we ended up splitting a margherita pizza which was scrumptious. To cap it off we had a nice cappuccino and tarimasu. We went at almost 9:00 pm and elected to eat at the nice wide bar - though seating was available. We weren't dressed to dine and thought people wouldn't judge too harsh. The service was great. Food was fresh tasting. And to think I had grabbed Little Caesars' pizza around the corner from this place when I could have had a true brick oven pizza. Will definitely go back and try the pasta dishes. Would make a great date night!

We are visiting Destin Beach for the first time and were looking for a nice restaurant near our rental. We found this place as a recommendation on Trip Advisory. It is located in a strip mall, the outside seating is the side walk facing the parking lot (which is why I didn't give it give stars). The inside looks very "fancy" but kind of small. We went a little early because we have small children and were glad that the restaurant was almost empty. We felt relaxed. My husband ordered the seafood pasta, which was superb! I ordered the pasta stuffed with veal in creamy tomato sauce, which was good. The waitress and the hostess were very nice. Apparently the restaurant is only a year old. If you have small children who tend to be noisy, like mine, I recommend going during to late lunch/early dinner. It is a definite repeat if we ever visit again.

Being from NYC/ NJ area I was skeptical about an italian restaurant in Florida. However I was pleasantly surprised. As a matter of fact, this review might have even been a four star review if they hadn't seated us in the back of the rstaurant, in the corner, near the kitchen, when there were plenty of other tables in their beautiful restaurant. If your looking for a pretty place to eat this is it. The exposed brick and chandeliers create a nice ambiance. The food was okay but the first sign that things weren't that fresh was the fact that it came out ridiculously fast. The calamari app was ridiculously chewy, I have to assume it was frozen calamari. The bread they provide you is bland as is the olive oil dipping sauce. The house creamy balsamic dressing was tasty. The penne capers se was tasty but the pasta was odd. It was aldente but it was also all stuck together in clumps which suggested to me that it was precook end and simply tossed with the sauce. The chicken piscata was okay as was the upscale chicken piccata with the artichokes and mushrooms. Calzones are large and yummy. Dessert was slightly dissapointing. You would think that they would nail a basic like tiramisu but it was the blandest I have ever had in my life, there's more tiramisu flavor in the Talenti gelato. On the other hand, the cheesecake and the special featuring a sponge cake with a strawberry spread and orange liquor were very good. Personally I thought our waitor was slightly arrogant and I don't think he expected us to tip very well so he treated us accordingly but he was a good waitor and got everything right. I would go back in the hopes of trying some other dishes and cocktails.

My family and I stumbled on this great place on Christmas Eve (thank you for being open, we couldn't handle hooters being the only option!) The staff are great, service was great and the food was so delish!! We got the calamari, split a salad and veggie pizza between 3 of us and loved every bit of it. The pizza toppings were so fresh and the salad was great...and the large wine pours were excellent! It made our Christmas Eve finding this spot!

The garlic knots are AMAZING but the wait is a little long. But when I got my food it was great! The waiter was nice and frequently checked on our table and was knowledgable on the menu. Over all it was great food and great service

Visiting Destin and we were craving delicious Italian food; this restaurant was a block from our condo. The reviews on Yelp helped make our decision...so glad we dined here! It's much nicer on the inside than the outside appearance. I was craving eggplant parmigiana and let me just say: it was incredible. The sauce is tasty and the eggplant was baked perfectly. My husband loved his lasagna and the kids enjoyed their Alfredo with chicken and spaghetti with meatballs. We came at 6:30 on a Tuesday night and were greeted by the owner; when we answered we didn't have reservations, he still gladly seated us promptly. We had water and soft drinks and noticed that tables surrounding us who ordered alcoholic beverages received more attention from the waiter and owner. However, no complaints...we will be back.

Awesome authentic food! Wife got chicken picatta and there was enough to feed two people! I had grouper with crab meat over risotto. Needed a little salt but cooked perfectly

I ate here on a Saturday night and it was packed but we got seated right away. I love the decor! Food was amazing! It was LOUD (drunk older people in the corner..) but that wasn't the restaurants fault. Service was great and quick. I will come back soon and next time I plan on ordering some of those breadsticks I saw coming out :)

My wife and I just returned from dinner at Mimmo's. The verdict? Outstanding! From the exterior, Mimmo's looks pretty average. But inside, it's a warm, lovely place to dine. Every staff member we encountered were friendly, interested in us having a great experience and clearly, happy to be there. Their menu is extensive but not overdone and the baked-daily bread served is delicious. I suggest adding balsamic vinegar glaze to the oil and garlic dip. Prices are reasonable for the portion sizes and the food is terrific. We'll be here in Destin for another nine days or so and are planning another visit to Mimmo's before heading home.

WOW!!!! You must check this place out. Don't let the storefront fool you. When you step inside this place is absolutely stunning and quite large. No detail has been overlooked. Super high ceilings, beautiful floors, amazing bar, each table set meticulously, and the lighting is gorgeous. Even the bathroom is cool, stones in the sink, auto on/off lights and the path leading to it is very unique as well. The service is top notch, the food fantastic and the pricing was great! Myself and my date each had paninis. I the Caprese with french fries, he the Italiano with a house salad. Delicious fresh ingredients, all of it. Mimmo himself stopped by to welcome us and ask how we were enjoying our meals, always a nice touch. Hands down my new favorite place in Destin. You don't even feel like you're in Destin here, it has a big city vibe. Family friendly for sure but also very romantic for date night. Looking forward to many more meals here...

Saw all the good reviews and decided to check this place out. The beer and wine list could use some improvement. I didn't see a wine list on the menu. But the food was amazing! Bruschetta that had amazing fragrant fresh garlic and tomatoes was as good as I've had in Italy. I ordered the nightly special, grouper over angel hair pasta with a side of spinach. The grouper was perfect and melted in my mouth. Pasta was perfectly al dente and sauce was so creamy and delicious. The spinach was a little over seasoned but was a nice compliment to the fish and pasta. Everyone at our table (5 of us) raves about their food and completely cleaned their plates. I will definitely be back to try more.

Mimmo's should be your Destin destination for Italian food & brick oven pizza. Been once, will go back again. The pizza's aren't the usual 10" individual portion size, but more like a 14-16"; the two we had were really good. Salad & pasta were good too, but dessert tasted frozen; not the end of the world, but based on our previous food, I was expecting better. Stong cocktails and solid wine list with many price choices. A lot of thought was spent on the well-appointed decor. Best thing, they package most of their food to go, so us vacationers can take the pizza back to our own place.

Wow it will be hard to include all the awesomeness that this place contains...food is phenomenal...I tried all of my friend's dishes, hands down best lasagna I've ever had and probably the best red sauce too. My entree was the Scalapine Amore (something like that) and it was extremely good, definitely order it again. The owner came by our table and no joke is a real Italian, full on accent and everything, cool, laid back guy; said they make everything from scratch, even the bread, and let me tell you it tastes like it. Atmosphere is very cool too... wood burning stove with real stones, same behind bar and reclaimed wood trim.

  • Charlie S.

Hard to believe that this place will be in business too much longer. Chicken? Sorry we are out of that, which means we are out of at least 25% of our menu. The excuse was " the truck with the chicken didn't show up." Well, that brings up a few questions: why didn't the truck show up? Did you pay your bill? There is a Winn Dixie next door. Did you consider buying some from there? Gin? Tonic? Oops, out. Napkins and silverware? You will have to ask for those. Anchovies on a Caesar salad? That is an extra. Building is really nice, but food is only average and service is below average. This is an $8 to $12 per entree place that is charging double that. Web site had us thinking we had found something special, but we were very disappointed.

Wow! After finally trying it , came back every week for 2 straight months. It is so good. The owner came to introduce himself and make sure we were enjoying everything. Very nice specials however I'm stuck on the chicken parm. They even brought our children a slice of pizza and a dough ball to play with. Location is the only downfall. Doesn't look like a place for such a nice meal or a perfect date but it is .

  • Candie M.

Not sure why this place has such high reviews. I ordered the Tortellini with beef and veal. The tomato cream sauce smelled and tasted as if it was straight from a Chef Boyardee can. The pasta was overcooked and tasted as if it had been frozen. We asked and were told that it was purchased from a vendor. For a $15 plate, I was very surprised. Very underwhelming experience. We won't be back.

We loved dinner at Mimmo's. The server was knowledgable and recommended numerous entrees, all of which turned out to be wonderful. I would recommend making reservations! For being a relatively small place, it was slammed! I will vouch for the Pasta Carbonara and the cheese cake any day

Very nice restaurant with a very nice atmosphere. Our waiter was friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. The food was great and portion sizes were large. We enjoyed the meal very much. Since it was a special occasion we even shared a couple of desserts (cheesecake and chocolate coconut cake) which were also very good. I would definitely recommend the restaurant. It was a little pricey, but good for the occasional splurge.

We waiting all year to eat a Mimmos again. We went there for lunch in early12/14 and had the pizza with ricotta cheese. It was great. The sausage and eggplant were cooked just right and the crust was just how we like it. Can't wait to go back.

Absolutely LOVED The Lobster Ravioli, it was Perfection I was in Destin 9 days and ate dinner here 5 days I couldn't get enough of the TRUE Authentic Italian Cuisine, And the best Italian I've had in years, I'm gonna tell you the SPAGHETTI BOLOGNESE, fabulous, the meatballs were large and homemade to perfection!!! I was feeling like something on the lighter side and decided to choose the,PENNE ALLA CAPRESE, the basil and fresh mozzarella garlic, tomatoes in a white wine sauce was so light and fresh!!! The Homemade Garlic Ham&Cheese Rolls for a Appetizer, YUMMMMy!! The Brick Oven Pizza was HEAVENLY ,PIZZA BIANCA is what I chose, and my friend chose the MARGHERITA, we were in True Italian HEAVEN, hard to find a Authentic brick oven!! I also had a CAESAR salad with every meal, The croutons fresh homemade and there dressing fabulous!! And you gotta try the CANNOLI and TIRAMISU !!! I had them both!!! no regrets here! I'm Italian and live in Miami Florida and have had alot of Italian cuisines let me tell you hands done this is the Real Deal!! Hope you enjoy it as well as I did, I'm counting the months till I'm back in Destin to get that CHICKEN MARSALA, which a customer that was sitting next to me says is by far the best he's ever had, My friend tried a few dishes as well and said her MEAT LASAGNA, was beyond great!!! Cannot say enough great things about this restaurant. Everything on the menu is delicious. I try to veer away from my favorites and try new menu items but they are just too good not to order. Arugula Salad, Calamari, Caesar Salad, Linguine Vongole, Penne Alla Vodka with Sausage, Chicken Alla Parmegiana, Scaloppine Del Mio Amore, any of their pizzas, and their Cannoli's are ALL delicious. We eat here at-least twice a month. Mimmo is very nice and makes sure that everything is exactly how you expected it to be.

If you are looking for seafood but prepared differently than the typically beach affair, this is the place. Took our family of 5 there and everyone found something they enjoyed. My wife had the Ahi Tuna salad and for a regular salad eater, she said it was one of the best salads she's ever had. Great stuff, Mimmo.

Our first visit to Mimmo's was a very pleasant evening. Nice atmosphere and great service. The Veal Marsala and Pizza Bianca were very good. This restaurant is a good value for Destin -- especially when you tire of the tourist trap fried fish platters. We had the opportunity to meet Chef Mimmo and exchange a little banter in Italian. He is a charming person and a hands-on owner. Give it a try.

Mimmo La Innusa is no amateur when it comes to three things: 1. Italian Food 2. The Restaurant Business 3. Ambience To begin, Mimmo's is located next door to Another Broken Egg Cafe. Parking is ample, and it is easily accessible from highway 98. This would be the perfect addition to your repertoire, whether you are a local or a visitor. The space has been impeccably finished and decorated, and allows for the feeling of a true Italian escape. And the food. Oh the food. There is something for everyone on the menu, even us Gluten-Free folks. The arugula salad with lemon vinaigrette, Mimmo's pizza, the mushroom risotto special, the calamari, I have not been disappointed by a single dish put in front of me. Unlike other italian food you will find in the area, Mimmo's food is not overly saucy, heavy, or salty. It is also very well priced. It is authentic, delicious, and a must-visit when you are in the Destin area.

Cute restaurant, friendly staff. Food okay, not great. Manicotti pretty good, although small portion. Chicken parmigiana, my favorite meal was not very good at all. The chicken was pounded so thin, it was tasteless. The sauce was bland, mozzarella cheese was scarce. Too boot, the angel hair pasta was over cooked. I had heard great things about this restaurant, so I was truly disappointed.

Ate here for the first time last night. The food was excellent!! This is the best Italian restaurant we have eaten at in the destin area so far. Chicken parm was way better than most places. My wife had pasta caprece and it was delicious! The bread was very fresh to start off the meal as well!

Absolutely terrific! We had planned on going to Fat Clemenzas, but discovered they are closed on Sundays, so I searched for another Italian restaurant. Based on reviews we decided to give Mimmo's a try. Decor and ambiance was perfect, and our server was great. Not over bearing, just the right amount of attentiveness. We started with calamari and bruschetta. Calamari was good - not at all rubbery, but nice and crisp on the outside. Bruschetta was good - toasted just right and the tomatoes were fresh. A bit too much garlic for my taste but my daughter and husband loved it. My husband had the veal salty nova and he said it was the best hard ever had. My daughters had Pasta with vodka sauce - one had manicotti, he other penne. The vodka sauce was very orange - different looking - but they both said it was great. I had chicken piccata. Pretty straightforward dish, chicken was tender and not over cooked. Tiramisu for dessert of course. I would defiantly go back.

What a great find! We're in Destin on vacation and wanted Italian for dinner, but not chainy Italian. My Yelp friends we thank you, you did NOT let us down! Antipasto, caesar salad, calamari, martinis, YUM..delicious...but especially the antipasto... amazingly fresh with all sorts of Italian meats and cheeses, olives and tomatoes. We then moved onto our dinners, where we sampled from each others plates including Spaghetti Bolognese, Veal Saltimbocca, Gnocci with vodka sauce, etc. Finished the dinner with espresso. Truly a wonderful meal and not expensive at all for the quality and portion sizes. Oh and then there was our server Kenzie...she rocked! Great sense of humor, and wonderful service. We may go back again tonight! Try this gem on Scenic 98!

I can't wait to go back when I am in Florida. I wish we had a Mimmo's in my home town. Food was the best Italian food with friendly and fast service. We had lunch and went back for dinner in the same stay. Awesome bar and open pizza oven area.

This place was fabulous! I had the carbonara, boyfriend had the piccata and mussels. All were so tasty! Very reasonably priced as well. They also had a pumpkin Nutella home made gelato for dessert, it was so good! Definitely give this place a try!

My first time visiting Mimmos was tonight for dinner with my family and it was amazing! It is one of the best Italian restaurants in town. My mother and I split the ravioli formaggi and the veal Parmesan and it was so delicious!! The service was great, the owner even stopped by the table to check on us which was nice. We will definitely be coming back again.

My husband and I finally had a relaxing day off so we decided to try somewhere different for lunch and we were so glad we did. The pizza was amazing. It has to be the best pizza in Destin and everywhere else surrounding it. We loved it and will definitely be back.

The pizza is absolutely authentic Italian....tastes excellent! We were in many different cities in Italy in 2012, the pizza was just like one we ate in Lake Como. The atmosphere is lovely, they did a great job with the decor & lighting. The only thing that bothered my husband "who speaks Italian" is that we saw the owner cooking the pizza before & while we were eating; when we asked to speak to the chef/ owner to give our compliments, he wasn't available? Hmm?!

This place has amazing food. It was a nice change of pace from seafood, though you can find that here too. I went with a party of 9 and sampled a few entrees. Everything was great. The service was great and the owner visits your table. He has a great personality and has a great rapport with most of the clientele.

Terrific restaurant. We went there on a suggestion from a local acquaintance, and found the food and the setting to be wonderful. Four of us went, we each had a different entree, and all were great. Mimmo's would stand up very well I. Atlanta, where we're from. We recommend it highly.

  • Scott B.

Food was hit and miss. Service was great. Our server was first class. This is nice restaurant worth trying. We had a large party of ten and the kitchen was not good at getting all dishes out hot at the same time so my food was just warm, almost cold, while others had steaming hot food. The pizza was decent but not the best. The fish special was excellent .... Five stars. The veal saltambucca was too salty to enjoy and should have been sent back. Chicken Parm was pretty solid. Drinks from the bar were great. Over all a mixed bag on the food side.... I'd give it another shot. It is worth your time and money to give it a try.

Not sure why this restaurant is rated so high. Makes you wonder if it's a tourist trap. I ate at Mimmos over spring break an ordered LINGUINE FRUTTI DI MARE 24.95. Hardly any seafood in the dish (two small shrimp, three mussels the smallest clams in the world -not little necks-, and small chewy calamari tentacles ). The baby clams that came with it were a joke. The server even laughed when I showed her. The clam shells left in the dish were so small you could crack a tooth if not noticed. Not like the pictures they promote. Also, the place is like eating in a cave so maybe people can't see what they are eating. For a restaurant, in a town with a fresh seafood market down the street, the quality of food was poor. Its another overpriced poor eatery in Destin. Even the Margarita pizza was missing fresh tomatoes. Mimmo could only say that this is the way things were made in Italy. The customer was wrong. Good luck with that business plan. I think he needs to watch some Gordon Ramsey shows.

Wonderful little hole in the wall Italian restaurant! Food was excellent, atmosphere was romantic yet comfortable, service was spot on. Highly recommend this place.

Hands down my favorite Italian restaurant ever! We go anytime we visit Destin. We love the garlic knots with ham and cheese - amazing!

Fantastic Italian! Everything was delicious. Portions were generous. Service was good. Prices were reasonable. What more could you ask for? I'm known as an Italian food snob and I love this place!

  • Amanda L.

Heard about it word of mouth and saw good Yelp reviews so gave it a try. Winning! Got there in time for happy hour (great food and drink specials). Focaccia del sud was amazing. I had tortelloni and my companion had manicotti with vodka sauce. Both really rich, yummy, with seemingly quality ingredients. Temp could've been higher but they tasted and looked so good I virtually overlooked that. I had the Destin Breeze to drink and my friend had a mule - both were excellent. Decor is nice, good ambience, friendly & attentive service. I'll be back! Don't go to a chain for Italian in Destin - eat local instead.

Great pizza! We have. The Zio Filippo snd Mimmos's pizza.. Just perfect. The real Italian pizza. Maurixio the "pizzaiolo" takes a lort os pride of his work and the result is a great product.

Food was delicious. Eggplant Parm was really good, and the garlic rolls were delicious. Waitress was excellent. We had a big group of 25 of us and they did an excellent job!

Fantastic Italian restaurant. The olive oil mixture and bread they serve for the table is delicious. Mimmo"s chicken Marsala is amazing! It is made with a touch of cream so the sauce is incredible!

The best Italian food in Destin. Our waitress was friendly and helpful. We had the eggplant parmigiana and the veal parmigiana. Both were excellent.

Tucked away in a strip mall this place is out of this world! The staff and atmosphere is authentic Italian and wonderful. We had the brick oven mimmos pizza and chicken scaloppine del mio amore. Both were light and delicious. Be sure to try the amazing tiramisu as well!

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
