We have driven by this place for years and finally decided to stop in for a late lunch while we were in town. (I'm not a really big bbq fan and in Destin we usually go for fish.) They give you a basket of some super delicious cheese muffins to start out with while waiting for your meal. I got the pulled pork plate and my boyfriend got the brisket plate. Both meats were excellent. I think the brisket may have been the best I've had in a long time. The mac n' cheese was also awesome. I had to take half of my meal to go as it was a lot to eat. We also got a slice of the peanut butter pie to go. It was delicious. I would definitely go back here again!

Get the pulled pork sandwhich on a bun and the Mac and cheese. Their bbq chicken is delicious and moist too. But my fav of their pork. Homemade bbq sauces are spicy and smokey and they serve you free cheese biscuits. The last time I came, we had a very nice waitress but she was kinda pushy and made me try something new on menu which wasn't what I wanted but nonetheless still good. Wasn't a fan of the sourdough bread for my sandwich. Definitely get it on a bun.

After a long day walking and boating we needed BBQ and honestly this place was the only BBQ place still open, so let's give it a try! The cheese biscuits are sinfully delicious! OMG I could eat those things for the meal. Don't worry if you run out, they're free and they will bring more! Like I said we got there kinda late and the girl takes our order and then tells us she thinks they may have run out of brisket and she would be back to let us know.... And you guessed it, they had run out of brisket!!!!! (Echoing sounds) nooooooooooo!!!!! We had come specifically for the brisket! My folks got pulled pork sandwiches instead and I got a chicken baked potato. The sandwiches looked average size, folks said they tasted pretty average. My potato was HUGE and pretty tasty. The BBQ sauce that says hot on it, it's hot lol No big complaints, price was decent as well! We would come back! ALSO they have Sonic Ice... I love Sonic Ice :*

Wasn't the worst but definitely not the best!! Then I'm from TEXAS and we know bbq. The "Double Decker" seemed like they skimped on the brisket but paired with the pork and once you remove the excess middle toast it's quite meaty. The biscuits fell short. They were good enough to have a second but it stopped there. Service was less than average. They claimed to have to seat us separately because all the big tables had just been occupied yet there were plenty of tables that became available before we even ordered our food. Way to spend our last night in Florida.

After numerous references to here, there has to be something special about it - and there is. Mind you, this is coming from a Texan! Staff- 5/5: No complaints here. Location - 4/5: Can't miss it off the 98, but coming from FWB was kind of a trick to get to. This is especially during the Fri-Sun timeframe when traffic is backed up practically to Sandestin and everyone is driving like a nutcase. I didn't see why some folks were calling this place "dirty" here - seemed fine to me. However it was kind of odd that above our seats was a spot where they hold silverware/to-go boxes. Food: 5/5: First off, I have to say the cheese biscuits are to die for. They say never to fill up on bread, but that's hard to avoid in this scenario. I love that they sell the mix for it, so you can have even more later at home! Now the BBQ itself - phenomenal. I could not put the ribs down, and they have choice of sauces to try at your table. The normal BBQ was great, and the habanero BBQ sauce had noticeable heat but not enough to make you bolting for ice cream to kill the heat. Pricing- 3/5: Not TOO bad...but could also be better. I was originally thinking about getting the "full baby" rack until I saw the price tag. Not just on this particular item, but but some other stuff too seemed to be a punch in the wallet. Overall 4/5: I've had good BBQ. I've had great BBQ. I've even had BBQ that is an insult to BBQ before. I'd say its a good spot though and a great effort, maybe a notch above Sonny's. But keep in mind that where I'm from, we hold our BBQ pretty high.

The cheese biscuits are the best biscuits I have ever had! We had a family meat platter. The pork and beef ribs are delicious. So moist and tender! The brisket was the least favorite because it was dry. We also had the sweet potato casserole with pecans in it.......this could be a dessert! Excellent side dish! There was a white sauce served with meat platter and this was too die for. The bbq sauce was also a hit.

Eh... My expectations for this place were set pretty high, because they had signs saying they had won the Southern Living award for best pork sandwich. And I love pulled pork sandwiches. I asked the waitress which sandwich on the menu was the award winning one, and she didn't really know! She said probably this one and pointed. I was like it's award winning! You don't know which one it is? Anywho... I had the pulled pork sandwich, which was hopefully the award-winning one. I was disappointed in the sandwich. It tasted like a pretty average pulled pork sandwich. The extra BBQ sauces you could add to it were also disappointing. The mild sauce was way too thin. I did like the chips that came with the sandwich though.

Ordered brisket and it was just ok, not the best. Coming from Kansas City mecca of BBQ, I have different standards about BBQ. Mac and cheese sides were good. I wasnt a fan of the semi-sweet cheese muffins. I assume they were trying to make something similar to corn bread but I think it would have been better if they removed the sweet ingredients and kept it as cheese muffin. Price for BBQ is pretty pricey but its Destin so expect it to be a little pricey. The waiter I had was pretty good. He was good following up with water or whatever we needed.

Great cheese biscuits with sweetened butter fresh and hot! The waitress recommended the turkey and it was great. Smoky throughout and juicy. Cut it with a fork. I recommend the white sauce (mustard base). Fast, friendly service.

Our service was absolutely terrible, but I think it was just the waitress we got stuck with, because all of the other staff seemed to be very helpful! The cheese biscuits are to die for! So so good! I had there chicken strips and they were really really good! The rest of the family had burgers and said they were extremely good! Would have been a five star had it not been for the crummy service!

Food may be great...but we don't know. We got there at 6:30pm, normal, prime dinner time, with a half-empty parking lot and half-empty restaurant. 2 groups ahead of us. I knew something was wrong when one of the groups was upset because they were going to be split up (4 at a table and 2 at a booth). The next group ahead of us left because they were told the wait would be 20 minutes....there were empty tables all over. Hostess asked us, "how many". I said 6 and a half. We need a high chair. 2 more groups came in behind us. 5 and 7. The hostess took their names then ours. We had to specify to her that we were there first even though she should have clearly known that as I was inside before any of them and in line. We waited while the 3rd group got seated first. And then our name was finally called...and they attempted to seat is at counter-height bar top tables....which obviously doesn't work with a high chair. Also, the 2nd group that came in behind us went ahead and left because of the issues and they heard the restaurant was out of fries. Needless to say...we left. Again, the food might be great, but this was 6:30pm on a Monday night. I hope to have a chance to eat here this week...but not sure that I am willing to give it a chance or not.

Absolutely fucking terrible, definitely not what it used to be. Server was awkward and strange, and a series of cockroaches on the floor forced me on top of my chair up on my departure. Fuck this place I will never return.

Great late lunch with the family. Our server Kristen was excellent and very attentive. Everything was served quickly and tasted great. The cheese muffins are free and on the sweeter side, my 2 yo niece kept calling them cupcakes. We had the fresh lemonade, loaded Mac & collards, rib plate w/potato salad, and double decker sandwich with pulled pork & brisket, baked beans and Mac n cheese. Everyone left full with leftovers to take home. It's a sure bet when in Destin!

I'd been here before and the food is decent but this review is based on my most recent visit. Place is packed with tourists so it's a long wait for a table. Buddy and I belly up to the bar instead. The gentleman enjoying his beer offered to slide over a seat so my friend and I could sit next to each other. Everyone is so friendly down here in the south. As soon as I saw their drink menu, my eyes lit up. So many bourbons to try. Not what I was expecting in a regular restaurant. Most bars like this would only have a couple of selections. Enjoyed 3 glasses before tossing my buddy the car keys. Next time I'm down here, I'll have dinner again at the bar or just stop in for some whiskey sampling.

Stopped for lunch. Two of us had the brisket sandwich, one the prime rib sandwich and one the pulled pork sandwich. All were tasty and meaty. Extra bbq sauce on the table if needed. Had peach tea that had actual peach chunks in it and had a natural peach flavor.

Greatest food I've had on my vacation! We made the mistake of ordering an appetizer..bad idea! They bring out these HEAVENLY cheese rolls, and before you are done with them, they bring out even more rolls! The service was so fast, and by the time we had a couple of rolls, our food came out. The Brisket sandwich was great! The Pig on a Bun is also very good! The Mac n Cheese was very very tasty too. I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a good meal!

Pretty good for a chain. It's definitely not a genuine TX country eat-off-the-butcher-paper experience but its a good BBQ inspired meal. Even the chips and queso were all right, and well priced. It was the sauces and complimentary bread and butter that worked wonders in keeping it from being an exercise in overpriced boredom. But I'm not trying to be too harsh. The meat itself was decent(pulled pork and brisket) and the atmosphere was relaxing, especially as we had beaten the dinnertime rush. The service was fine too, but again, it was quiet when we were there. The lady tending the bar seemed to be really friendly with the out of towners she was helping so maybe that's the place to sit for extra attention. Will definitely come back if I can as it looks to be an affordable and reliable sort of place compared to other ventures I've had in Destin.

Hubby and I ate here based on a few good reviews that said their meats were moist and tender - on this day, they were not. We paid $45 for 4 baby back ribs, a scoop of pulled chicken and 5 slices of brisket, plus a glass of ice tea. The ribs were mostly cold and akin to eating chewy leather strap. Hubby thinks they were leftovers from yesterday and not listed as the "daily special", which restaurants usually do with leftovers. Since their smoker outside was not in use, I think he was probably correct. The chicken consisted of barely luke warm pulled pieces of chicken with most of it being the dried outer layer of overcooked chicken. The 1 star is for the brisket, which was the only thing that was not overly chewy and the cheese biscuits, which were the best thing of the meal. I would never return as I wouldn't pay $45 for 3 unappetizing meats again just to get the free biscuits.

I stopped in here because my wife was craving bar-b-q. We both got the pulled pork, which I thought was good. I liked both the original concoction and habanero hot & spicy sauces. The cheese corn biscuits (muffins) were delicious, and I really liked their lemonade. However, the sides and service was so-so. We really had to try to get the waitress to talk and then it was just awkward. Other than conversation, she did a good enough job. I'd visit again. Overall, I didn't experience anything here that would set it apart from another chain barbecue restaurant, so that is why I gave them 3 stars.

Carol our waitress was Phenomenal. The Biscuits the best I have EVER had. My pulled pork was drowning a little bit in the sauce and I'll say thats the only thing that I would take a star away from. Atmosphere is great and not too chaotic prefect place for a date night

Great authentic BBQ. The restaurant was clean and cozy, staff was very attentive, and the food was amazing. Some of the best smoked brisket and chicken. Everything is so tender it melts in your mouth. The cheese biscuits were fluffy and full of flavor. Good selection of bourbon and whisky. I would definitely recommend stopping by this place.

Good BBQ. The cheese biscuits as complimentary appetizer was a nice touch. Yummy. I had the chicken sandwich and it was very moist. Our waitress Renada was fantastic. She checked in on us several times and was really quick. Kid friendly and the Mac and cheese was yummy with baked cheese on top just right. Thanks!

While on vacation we were a little tired of seafood so we decided to have some BBQ. We we're disappointed at all. From the muffins to Pulled Pork with Mac N' Cheese it was great. My only compliant would be that I wish they would offer a sweet sauce as an alternative. I'm not a fan of their sauce. Their banana pudding is wonderful. It tastes homemade, whether it is or not, I don't know. Cheese biscuits, banana pudding and pulled pork are worth the stop.

The majority of reviews were correct on several counts - The wait staff is in no big hurry, the food is OK (but not great), and the prices are a bit on the high end for chain BBQ. Came in on a Friday night before Labor Day, and it appeared the busser did not show up. While people were waiting to be seated, I saw several empty tables that were waiting to be cleared. The only one clearing tables was the manager, and the hostess was wandering around unsure of what to do. We were greeted quickly by our server, and our drinks arrived promptly. About 10 minutes later she reappeared and took our order. That was the last we would see of her for 30 minutes. During that period our drinks ran dry, and the manager passed our table a minimum of four times. After the 30 minute absence, the server gave us new drinks, then disappeared again for another 15 minutes. Becoming rather frustrated and hungry, our food showed up just as I was looking for the manager. The portion sizes were reasonable, and the flavor OK. I went for the three meat combo (spare ribs, BBQ pulled pork and Carolina pulled pork. The ribs were juicy, but didn't have much in the way of flavor. The BBQ pulled pork was probably the best thing on the plate, covered in the house "concoction" sauce. The Carolina pulled pork was heavy on the vinegar taste and not much else. The small side of BBQ beans tasted like they came from a can, and the cole slaw was less than stellar. If you have plenty of time to kill, this isn't the worst BBQ, but it isn't the best either.

Had dinner here a couple of days ago. I was a regular at the downtown Charleston, SC unit for lunch. I loved their cheese muffins so I had anticipated this visit due to it being awhile since then. We ordered the smoked sausage appetizer for a start. This was brought with the cheese muffins! They were like I remembered, light & fluffy with cheese through out! They are the best and beat out Red Lobsters biscuits!!! I could eat just these:) Our sausage appetizer came with a small container of homemade pimiento cheese! This was awesome too! The sausage was okay, just regular. I ordered the special smoked prime rib and my husband ordered the spare ribs. The ribs are brined and came out too salty and dry:( It also came with mashed potatoes with brown gravy which was also salty. My prime rib was good and came with a side salad. Our dinners were okay but really enjoyed the muffins more. I used to order the brunswick stew but didn't see it this time. The other good thing is their drinks are served with crushed ice which is the best for ice tea:) I think we would order something different on the next go around or maybe just stick with lunch or just apps. This visit was not as good as before. It was a Monday night so maybe an off night for them but all in all it was good. Would try them again.

Food was great and the service was average. My only complaint is the interior temperature had to be around 65 degrees. My whole group of 7 were so cold we could barely stand it. We asked the waitress if there was anything she could do about the temperature and she replied she would burn up if she changed the thermostat.

I was introduced to the chain in Montgomery. Since being in Florida, I have eaten here a couple of times and it's better than most BBQ chains. This last time was the best, but the service was lacking. They had one server for half the restaurant and it was 6:30PM. Food is pretty good for the price and everyone in the party left the table with something on the plate and a pants button or two undone.

Had a late lunch with my kids and wife, my son is the pickest child in the world but he loved the mini corn muffins and the mac n cheese. My daughter order the chicken fingurs and they were as good as my wife's. My wife and I order bbq sandwiches they were very good but I wished there was more meat. Service was awsome. I will go back for sure.

Great barbecue for Florida. Love their cheese muffins! Great barbecue sauces. I love that they play blues music instead of the same old country stuff. Fun place, great staff. Oh and I love the ice they use in the drinks. :)

Our food was very good. My wife had a Cuban sandwich that had authentic flavors, but didn't have the traditional Cuban bread. I had the brisket sandwich. The meat was tender & smokey; the bun was ordinary. The banana pudding was gloppy and too sweet. We thought the cheese biscuits were too sweet as well. We had a friendly, attentive server. We would definitely go back for the bbq.

Thought we would take a break from seafood here in Destin and decided on Jim 'N Nick's BBQ. Was a little disappointed at room temperature biscuits and baked beans. The Macc and Cheese was hot and good and the ribs were pretty good- not the best I've had. With all the places here to eat I don't think we will return.

  • John B.

The cheesy biscuits are AMAZING! We could have eaten those alone. I had the smoked chicken, cole slaw and potato salad. We also had the brisket. Both meats were juicy and tender. We went during lunch so we got fast service and were in and out in no time at all. Definitely worth the visit!

Were those cheesy muffins?? Should have read the reviews before we went. Our family of 6 spent several minutes trying to guess what the overdone looking muffins consisted of after they were brought to the table. Even with butter they were inedible! Anyhow ... being from Texas, we thought we would try a little BBQ Florida style at the start of our family vacation and we were all quickly disappointed. The BBQ was really fatty and the only flavor I could taste was an extreme smoky taste. I like things smoked but enjoy still being able to taste the flavor of the meat ... not the case here. The sides were okay ... my 2 year old ate all the baked beans, the mac & cheese was doable, the fries were the best part. We also had onion rings which were standard (nothing special) and fried green tomatoes. Wasn't crazy about the cornmeal breading they used to coat the green tomatoes. They have two kinds of homemade BBQ sauces. The spicy habanero wasn't hot at all and the original was watery and meh! The restaurant was not busy at all when we arrived around 4:30pm. There were two other tables sitting down already eating. It took FOREVER for our waitress to come take drink orders, even longer to get our drinks, and worse was waiting for her to come back and take our food order. We did a lot of WAITING with empty drink glasses. That annoys me the most at a restaurant. Anywho - I would say pass this one by and try another local place. We will pass on this one our next go round!

Since we have been in the area we have been eating seafoods. We want some BBQ for a change. Found Jim and Nick BBQ when we were driving to the store. Although the yelp didn't rate too high but we thought the foods was good. We had pulled pork platter with trimmings. My favorite was the cheesy corn muffins with the honey butter!! Yum!! Fresh squeeze lemonade was excellent! The service was good and fast.

RIBS RIBS RIBS and cheese muffins. I really love this place as you can tell. It is more of a chain but with a local and homey feel. They are pretty reasonable for being in Destin. They have huge portions and tasty food. Great BBQ for being so close to the water.

    (5)
  • Prebble R.

Hands down, this is the best BBQ in Destin. The brisket is cooked Texas-style (the only real BBQ :-) ) and all the meats are flavorful and juicy. The cheese biscuits are not to be missed. I hate cornbread, but even I love these delicious confections made with cheese and honey. Beware- a little birdie told me they each boast 250 calories! Service is typically slow and very slow during lunch, so make sure you load up on the cheese biscuits....

Skip this place. First impression not the cleanest restaurant . Ordered based on waiters recommendations. Wings on appetizer menu average at best. Entrees were slow in arriving and mediocre. Not the best place for barbecue, steaks or anything else from this experience. Very disappointing.

I was not impressed. For $20 I expect a good size meal and tasty food. The ribs were ok, mac n cheese and coleslaw were average.

Ordered the Half-Chicken platter and was asked if I wanted dark or white meat.. Isn't half a chicken both? It was described in the menu as having white BBQ sauce.. The server brought it out without any sauce at all and it was evident the chicken had been in a warmer for quite a while, it was drying out around the edges. When I inquired about the white sauce, they brought it out and it was cold...I mean just out of the refrigerator cold. The rest of my group said their food was okay. My greens were great. The very..VERY worst part of our visit was when the server brought back my card and said it had been declined...in front of my friends. It turns out our server did not realize it was a magnetic strip error. When I asked her to type in the number manually, the card was accepted..of course. Teach your servers tact, and how to properly use the pos systems please. I will try it again, as I truly hope this experience was a fluke.

The BBQ nachos are delicious! We ordered that as an appetizer and I ordered the BBQ baked potato for my meal. The potato was over cooked and pretty dry, but it was edible smothered in BBQ sauce. My husbands Mac & Cheese was good too. Next time I will get the nachos for my meal.

Stopped in for dinner for 6 got a table right away and drinks, muffins took awhile came to late after we were seated and to close to the time our food was served. The BBQ was good over-all brisket was great but the hot links were just okay I will skip them next visit good service they add in the tip automatically for a table of 6 including two children wow but it did save me a few bucks and cost the server big time they need to review this policy I can understand 8 adults but not a family of 6 on one ticket.

The Good: Service (by Bria), cheesy muffins with sweet butter. Onion Rings were decent. The Bad: BBQ was sub par. We had Pulled Pork (okay). Brisket (okay). Hot links (meh..I'll pass next time). Baby Back Ribs (I've had better). So far, I still have not had better BBQ then Lucille's BBQ in California (for a chain restaurant) You are not missing anything here....

I've been to a few different Jim N Nick's and the food is consistent to others that I've been. The corncake muffins are worth 5 stars, pulled pork sandwich with Mac and Cheese maybe 4 stars but the service at this location is worth 1 star. Sevice is slow even during the the slow parts of the day and it was definitely the worst service we had in Destin. The interiors are very new and shiny but lacks the charm you find in a hole in the wall BBQ joint. Overall, JIm n Nick's is a great spot if you're craving good BBQ. Just don't expect to get it quick. On a side note, if you like craft beer, this location has some good choices. Waitress just forgot to bring mine though and then I had to go the bar and get it myself after waiting for about 10 minutes and not being able to find our waitress.

4-5stars because the food is fresh, and awesome! Service was great! We go when it's not busy... 1pm-ish! The cheesy biscuits are screaming good! The sides are all great! Greens, potatoes, beans and Mac-n- cheese being my favorite! The dark chicken BBQ off the bone is my fav.... Followed by pork, then turkey... Beef was just ok. Ribs were just ok... Not a lot and kind of dry... Margarita was actually really good too!

Normally, i refrain from posting online reviews as i think the concept is naturally biased either positive or negative. A lot of reviews seem to be written by people that spend waaaay too much time thinking about food. BUT - tonight warrants a review. Having been a somewhat frequent visitor to this restaurant in Atlanta, we decided to try the location in Destin, FL. No other way to say this but it was terrible. Service was bad, food was late, those that arrived had foreign objects in the mashed potatoes, overpriced, and on and on and on. When you leave a restaurant and an hour later you think about what you ate and and get queasy, you know its bad. Fire the management team, cooks and wait staff and start all over again. Sorry guys, but this was too bad not to comment.

We arrived later for dinner (9pm) on a Friday evening. There was no wait, and no one at the bar. We sat down and it took 24 minutes for our waitress to greet us! Also, looking around servers were sitting down while there were 5 tables that needed to be bussed. We ordered our drinks, and our meal together asking for our salads to arrive prior to meal. Our meal took over 20 minutes (which is fine) but forgot our salads and our dressing order was incorrect. Our meals followed immediately. The pulled pork was delicious but the brisket left more to be desired. I enjoyed the side of Mac and cheese but it was a very small portion. The service was terrible and completely inefficient. There was a lack of multitasking, they needed a busser to clean the 5 dirty tables that staff continued to walk by and not address. Food was sitting in windows in the kitchen and not being run out to tables. The poor service and lack of efficiency left a poor taste in my mouth that I cannot recommend visiting. Perhaps only for take out, But I'll never return for dining in.

We had dinner here after a recommendation from the rental company we are staying with, and we are certainly glad we did! The food was excellent! Everything is made from scratch and tastes amazing! The cheese corn muffins are melt in your mouth delicious. Between the group we had the classic bbq, the brisket and the hot links and all three were excellent. Some reviews complained about the price, but the portions and the quality of the food reflect the price. If you want cheap, mediocre bbq go to Sonny's, if you want memorable, tasty bbq, eat at Jim and Nick's.

Normally we try to shy away from chains unless needing something quick, especially while on vacation, but since we weren't familiar with this chain we decided to stop in. It was nearly a year ago but we were so smitten with the fabulous service (even though we had a ready-for-a-nap 1 year old in tow) and delicious pulled pork & biscuits we are planning our stop this year on our trip south around an exit with a Jim'N'Nicks since we won't be staying close as close to this location as last year.

I'm never disappointed with anything I order and the biscuits are just the icing on top. BJ our waiter was super attentive.

I love the Niceville drive-thru but this place needs help. Three times coming here and the orders are wrong along with dry bbq.

Warning! Don't stuff yourself on the delicious corncake muffins before the meal or you will be miserable when you try to get up and walk out. The service has been pretty good, but the refills on drinks come rather slowly. The ribs are some of the best and the brisket is a B-plus; but the turkey and ham are the best available anywhere now. Jim and Nick's is the only place where I will eat collards for some reason--the other food seems to just make them more apetizing.

Great atmosphere, great service and the price is very good for the size of portions and tasty food!

My husband and I lived in this area for a year, about three years ago and we loved jim n nicks! We made sure we brought all our visitors there for a dinner at least once. So, when we went back for vacation recently, this was our first stop to eat. I dont know what the heck happened to this place, but it certainly isnt good. The service was TERRIBLE, there were clumps of servers standing around gossiping and not paying attention to the customers. The food was disgusting. I ordered a greek salad (yes, I know, seems odd at a BBQ place, but when we lived there, it was actually the best greek salad I had ever had), it came out looking and tasting like something leftover from the night before. Shredded lettuce, POTATOES, and a bunch of other random yuckiness. I lost my appetite and left it alone. My husbands ribs were tough and tasteless. They have no idea what their beer is either, I asked for an IPA, she brought me out a miller lite. So gross, so sad. Stay away.

Great meal, end to end. The tiny cheese biscuits give you a nice start and leave room for the meal. I got the spare ribs, green and beans. Amazing, unique flavors. Finished off with a slice of chocolate cream pie. Definitely will return when we visit Destin again.

Don't waste your time. Brisket was chopped and over cooked as were the ribs. Portions were small for the price. Hard to believe this chain survives.

The food here is great! Any kind of meat you could imagine is on the menu. Top that with their signature BBQ sauces (I had "the original" while my wife had the "spicy") and you will be pleased. So why did I drop them to 4 stars? There was a very strange atmosphere in this place. We went in the middle of the afternoon and the place was dimly lit, windows were all covered with curtains, etc. Our waiter was very nice, but had kind of a quirky attitude. But don't let any of this stop you. And get the pie! Trust me.

I like Jim N Nicks, but since I live in Birmingham (the original Jim N Nick's is about 3 miles from my house) I don't usually want BBQ when I'm in Destin visiting my family. I don't know of a better BBQ place in Destin though, so if you get a hankering for BBQ while you're there, this is the best place to go!

Supbar food, but even worse service. Our waitress had a serious attitude and expressed so much anger in all that she did throughout the meal that it was clear she so did not want to be working. Not to mention, she hardly came to our table or checked on us to refill drinks and such. HUGE disappointment that the supposed "delicious corncake muffins" that reviewers raved about were not brought out to us. We would have asked about them had our waitress been a bit more approachable and had we seen them being eaten at other tables in the restaurant. I do not recommend the place. Even if you are desperate for barbecue in a town seriously lacking in that area, do not come here. No barbecue is better than this barbecue.

Smoked chicken wings were to die for; along with the corn-cake muffins. After I had brisket and pulled pork. They were decent, but nothing special. I will go again, but just for the wings and the corn-cake muffins.

Excellent restaurant, and excellent service. Among the best barbecue I've had, and I know barbecue having grown up in Texas. Spare ribs were flavorful, and the meat fell off the bones. Pulled pork and brisket were equally as good. And Rhonda was absolutely outstanding as my server. Friendly and funny, she anticipated my needs. I highly recommend this place!

We were on vacation and decided to stop by due to decent reviews.... That was a mistake. We arrived and right away received poor service. We sat down and waited a long time to get our drinks, and then there was the food... Me who loves BBQ couldn't wait to dig in. I had ribs and there were cold. They had NO sauce, and the sauce that was given seemed like pure vinegar and had no BBQ taste. My mother got sub par pulled pork, and my father got cold, chewy rough beef brisket. If you value your stomach or money, do not go.

This place was very unique. I loved the vodka iced tea they make as it had a great flavor yet still had the kick and was fresh. The food in my opinion was very average but the BBQ sauces were amazing and made the food very good. The atmosphere was also very nice but it was early empty which may have been because it was only about 5pm on a weekday night. Overall, this place i definitely worth giving another shot some other time, undetermined but seems promising with lots of real potential. Food taste score: 7/10

I have to agree with another reviewer, dont fill up on the biscuits-its SO easy to do. I started with the Friday drink special, the Firefly Sweet Tea, & boy was the bartender generous with that vodka. It was good. My husband & I each got the pulled pork BBQ, I got the sandwich, & 2 sides. Everything was delicious & better than expected. This was probably our best meal while in Destin.

CUSTOMERS BEWARE!! I ordered take-out from this place and used my credit card. I just saw my statement and they added an extra $5.00 to my total. Since it was take-out, I specifically remember crossing out the Tip area on the receipt. Obviously they didn't like that. My original total was $19, so that would be a 26% tip that THEY added to my order. They didn't deserve a tip. I called in my order and they said it'll take over 30 minutes and they were out of beef brisket which I wanted to order. When I arrived to pick up my order, I had to wait another 15 minutes because a lady took forever to make an order. When I finally returned home, the food was cold and I had to microwave it to warm it up.

Pulled pork sandwich was good (pulled pork good but bread a little too thick). The little cheese biscuits are fabulous that they serve as appetizers. Wasn't impressed at all with the fried green tomatoes (way too greasy). Atmosphere nice and service was quick!

I rarely ever rate service but the last time I went, I felt it was justified. Since our last visit, we've been going back for their Taco Tuesdays, and I must say, we are pretty big fans of it. You can get $2.75 soft tacos and $1.50 Mexican beers or $3 margaritas. The soft tacos offer choice of beef brisket, pulled pork, bbq chicken, and fried catfish, with various fixins and sauces. Just sit at the bar or in the bar area and service will be fine.

I would give the BBQ and service 4 stars but everything else was just okay...oh, but the cheese muffins were also amazing. Unfortunately my sides and salad were kind of lame. It was a mostly iceberg salad which is a pet peeve of mine and the fries were mediocre. I did get the pulled pork BBQ plate and the BBQ was very good!

Jim N Nicks is a typical BBQ restaurant...think Chili's style restaurant that serves southern food. I was very impressed with the service here. A lot of times when you enter a chain restaurant with a large party (9 adults and 3 toddlers) the service is mediocre. The waitress was sweet and had a smile the entire time. The food was pretty decent. They give you these cheesey cornbread biscuits that everyone loved. I also loved that the decor was causal but not country corny. If you're in an area with Jim N Nicks...stop by...you won't be disappointed.

You can smell the wood on the stove from a long way. Aroma can be the best ad when it comes to restaurants. We decided to step inside to see what smelled so good. The decor of the place appears upscale, but it's casual and cozy at the same time. We received our drinks and the crushed ice really made mine taste nice and refreshing. They start you off with cheese biscuits. The Mrs. doesn't eat cheese, but found herself nibbling at these babies. These miniature cornbread muffin look-a-likes blew me away! They were so fresh and delicious. The table next to us ordered a dozen to go and I would've too had The Mrs. liked cheese enough to help me eat them. I ordered the Pit Platter and The Mrs. ordered a veggie meal. I got spare ribs, beef brisket, pulled pork, and chicken. The sides were fries and collard greens. The Mrs. got mashed potatoes, cinnamon apples, and baked beans. First of all, the beef brisket was probably the best I've ever had. Tender, seasoned, tasty, are the three words that come to mind first. I was floored at how good it was and immediately envisioned it on a sandwich. The spare ribs were good, but lacked the seasoning I personally crave. The pulled pork was dry and not that appealing. The chicken surprised me. As someone who doesn't like BBQ chicken, I finished most of it and took the rest home in a to-go box. It was really good. The BBQ sauce really adds flavor to the meats. It's bold and slightly sweet, but not too sweet. They had a spicier Habanero flavored sauce, but I wasn't adventurous enough to try that. The collard greens were a big tangy, but okay. Baked beans were pretty good. They weren't overly sweet and had bits of meat in them for flavor. The cinnamon apples were off the chain! They were just the right blend of spice and sweetness! I could've eaten a bowl of it by itself. The fries were rather ordinary which surprised me for a BBQ place. The service was decent, but nothing overwhelming. All of the people we encountered were friendly at least. I would definitely return and get the beef brisket. The other meats were good and I'd try them again as well. Maybe I caught them after their lunch rush was gone and that kept them from being at their best. Who knows? However, I would hope most restaurants are always ready to give you their best. Oh, I almost forgot! The lemon ice pie was the best slice I've had since... since... ever! It was so good! The pie is made in-house and it did not disappoint. The crust was delicious, but the pie itself tasted like it was made with love. It is worth the trip to J&N alone! This is good food and you'll enjoy yourself here. There is so much to choose from and even the food that I didn't consider as "great" was still "good enough". Give 'em a try.

This certainly isn't Kansas City BBQ. It's not horrible food but the abount of meat you get on the plate is just downright disappointing. The service was mediocre at best. The pulled pork sandwich serving was slim with a lot more bread than meat. My wife got the ribs which were pretty dry. Again the food is not horrible here but I just don't think I would come back. I guess I was expecting more. I've had the catering in the past and was happy with that but of course then you get to put as much on you plate as you want. Good food, lack quantities.

Yum-o! Went on a Friday night, waited about 20 minutes for a group of 5. I had a beef brisket sandwich with a side of grilled corn on the cob, and sweet tea. The sandwich was tasty. The corn had too much seasoning on it. The tea was wonderful all the way down to my favorite kind of ice (rabbit turd). My son loved his pulled pork sandwich, with Mac and cheese. He also gobbled up the sweet cheesy muffins. I thought that the value was pretty good for what we got. I'd definitely go back!

Why can't we have drive-thru BBQ house in the North (or at least in Cleveland). This place is fill with smokey sweet deliciousness! I love their pull pork by the pound, the dry rub BBQ ribs, and they have cute mini corn bread that's so buttery, melt in your mouth goodness with amazing dipping sauce...sigh...I'll be back soon.

The rolls are delicious, BBQ portions were ok, not great, chicken taco's were good, according to my wife. Fed 5 for $60.00, which included desert. Now for desert, we got a piece of pecan, coconut, and chocolate pie to share between all of us. They were the best pies we had ever eaten!!! Simply delicious, will go back before we go home just to have another slice of pie. So have a good meal, but you must save room for some pie!!!! Me oh my, love their chocolate pie!!!!!

This place was recommended by the security guard at the Silver Shells for good barbeque and burgers. Very mediocre for both but I must say the cheese biscuits they give you are the best part of the meal. Our waitress was very friendly but I don't think this would make my list on a return visit.

Food was okay. Service was okay. My buddy thought very highly of the pulled pork, but I found the food average at best. The cornbread biscuits are good, I can't disagree with my fellow Yelpers there.

Very good BBQ. We are visiting from Austin TX and we know BBQ. We were happy with the quality and the carryout service was great. Brisket and chicken were both good. Slaw and beans were wonderful. Potato salad good but nothing special. Lots of food for the money.

Always sit at the bar. You get the best service, next to the Tvs, and nearest the alcohol. The BBQ is really just about the best I have had. Nice and smokey.

Food was fair, the only great thing I would go back for is the bread. Service was off sometimes lacking. I dont blame it all on the server even though there was allot of easier steps that he could have done to make us want to come back. I haven't found a place that can do it like I can and has a great support staff, and good service is so easy it just takes time and know how.
