Good cup of medium roast coffee. My wife got a mocha frap that blows anything Starbucks has out of the water.

I work downtown DeLand and can tell you that this is the best place in the historic district for a latte. The ambiance is nice, the service is great and the lattes are better than the rest. The owners on on-hand essentially all the time. By-pass the chain coffee shops and give this "Mom and Pop" a try. Great hangout!

Talk about a nice "chill" place. Was early for an appointment and wondered in. Glad I did, great latte. :)

This is an adorable shop and cafe located in downtown Deland. It's nice to see that Deland is opening more funky, artsy places. Dick and Janes's and other shops are also displaying more and more local art, jewelry, etc. That is a big positive. Deland should keep progressing more towards funky, college town atmosphere.

I visited Dick & Jane's in Deland today and truly enjoyed their eclectic environment & excellent service. Their Vegetarian Tandoori is pleasurable, delicious, and healthful. Second to none food quality, fair price, outstanding experience!

Visiting the inlaws from Austin, and needed some good coffee. Coffee was great, super service. Glad I found this place!

Had a great lunch here today. It's a very cute little place with good food and very good service. My chicken quesadilla was very good, just enough filling of chicken and cheese to be tasty but not overloaded. My friend's chef's salad was beautiful and she said everything was very fresh and tasted good. She chose an Asian Sesame dressing but they also have 3 others. Someone sitting next to us had the Celebrity Salad (A lot of fruit and nuts), cleverly named we thought. It looked fresh and delicious also. There's a little area display of art items for sale for shopping. I will definitely be returning to Dick & Jane's!

One of my favorite little stops in DeLand. Their coffee is the best in town! Food is fresh and flavorful.... it makes you stop and think "Hm what is that?". Whatever it is, it's amazing! Vegetable Tanduri aka "the veggie melt" is my favorite, hands-down. Even if you're not a big vegetable fan... try it. I promise ;)

This place is so cute! I came here with my friend and got a Dulce de Leche frap and is was great! So much better the Boston coffee! All the art and little gifts are great too, you need to come check this place out!

I'm not a curmudgeon. I'm not and just to prove it (since some of my other reviews are, I admit, fairly scalding--justly so)...I'm reviewing Dick & Jane's because it was a lovely surprise and reprieve in what turned out to be a rather disappointing array of coffee shops in DeLand otherwise. I got to the shop at 4 PM. I didn't realize that it closes at 4:30 and went ahead an ordered when I heard someone mention them closing. I asked the woman (Jane?) about it who took my order and she very graciously said "Oh don't worry about it. You have plenty of time to enjoy your order." I had a delicious dirty chai (espresso and chai mix) and a very yummy raspberry something scrumptious dessert. I sat in front of the store windows and enjoyed my respite without ever feeling rushed or in the way. The decor is nice except in the back area where there are tables it seemed a little dark (maybe they had already turned the lights off in anticipation of the end of the day?) The bathrooms were spotless and so was the serving area and table area. Whew! thank goodness. Being a little cleanliness OCD, this was a relief because there are few things that make an eating experience less enjoyable than a dirty restaurant or serving area! I also loved that they have a variety of artworks decorating the walls and a little "art shop". The owner (Jane?) told me that the artworks are from local artists, which I find very cool. In any event, it was a pleasant place to stop for an afternoon drink and snack. Only thing better would be if it stayed open on the weekends in the nighttime--otherwise, why have a wine and drink bar??

My husband and I had a great lunch here. Downtown Deland is a hidden gem - a great place to walk around and window shop on a pleasant afternoon! I had the "plain Jane" - it's like a fancy grilled cheese sandwich, a grilled croissant with various cheeses. Yum! Paired with fresh fruit, it was delicious! My husband had a club salad, very nicely presented on an oblong platter. Everything looked really fresh, and they have their own homemade salad dressing. They also serve beer and wine but we skipped that. Our service was attentive without being overbearing. The restaurant is a gift shop/ art gallery, so plenty to see during your short wait for your meal. Delightful spot, we would go again!

Dick and Janes is quite possibly the cutest little coffee shop in DeLand! They have many different coffee drinks to choose from and all those that I've tried so far have been delicious. The baristas are friendly and the service is fast and efficient. The prices are reasonable which is exactly what you would expect to pay in a coffee shop outside of the overpriced Starbucks. They offer a variety of small dishes here as well, but I've only come for coffee. The little shop that is inside is really adorable and filled with pieces specific to DeLand and the surrounding Central Florida towns. My only gripe with Dick and Jane's is the hours although it seems that most of downtown closes shop around 5pm.

Extremely unfriendly and not supportive of the local university

Terrible service and the managers are extremely rude. Don't go here if you need a nice, hospitable cafe to get some work done. Their wireless doesn't work and they'll tell you to use Brickhouse's network next door.

This is one of my favorite places to eat! I have celiac disease and several food allergies, so I am stuck with a limited diet. Going out to eat for lunch or dinner is very often a disappointment. I don't always want a salad! But at Dick and Jane's, although they have very few main dishes I can have, they have multiple side dishes which you are allowed to order without a main menu item. Their coleslaw has ruined other coleslaws for me- they just don't compare to Dick and Jane's! One of their new sides is a three bean salad, which I tried for the first time today and loved it! It's a bit spicy. The potato salad and green beans are also excellent. I have not tried the sandwiches (gluten intolerance :( ) but my friends and family have, and they love them! My sister would recommend the chicken salad sandwich. :) The lettuce salads they have here are great, too. There is only a choice of three dressings, but thankfully, all of them are delicious. The thousand island dressing is my favorite, but the oriental sesame and balsamic vinaigrette are also very good. I like how fresh the lettuce and vegetables are. I don't drink coffee, so I don't have much to say about that part of Dick and Jane's, but my friends and sister prefer their coffee to any other place in town. Also, they have smoothies, which are quite nice. The owners are very nice, and Maria is a bit of a neat freak, which is reassuring in a restaurant owner. You could probably eat off the floors there, and it would be cleaner than the tables of some places! She keeps the place spotless and the kitchen is in full view, so you can watch your food be prepared (if you sit at that section of the bar). The atmosphere is great, and very nice for lunch with a friend. I always recommend this place to everyone! If you want lunch, make sure you are there before 3pm, though, because they start cleaning up and shutting down the kitchen around that time, and just serve drinks and pastries after then up to closing time.

My husband and i enjoyed a delicious lunch at Dick & Jane's this week! We are from Tampa and our son was visiting Stetson. Cute atmosphere! I had the lobster roll and my husband had the roast beef with provolone and mozzarella and cowboy candy.(cant remember the name) The service was outstanding. My husband said his only "small gripe" would be the amount of coleslaw . His was a purchased side so he felt it should have been larger. Friendly owner!!

Great spot in downtown Deland for a latte or an espresso. Good coffee with super nice employees. Actually the only place to get a great coffee in downtown Deland in my opinion. Lunch was very good as well. A tasty lobster roll with lots of lobster meat under $10, a Cuban sandwich to rival South Miami's best and a yummy crab meat salad. The large amount of real crab meat on top was surprising ( in a very good way!) with all the salad goodness and a delicious home-made thousand island dressing. Why did I not give it 5 stars? Simply because they don't have fat free milk for my iced latte.... But I am visiting from Los Angeles so don't hold that against them ;)

Cute little place in downtown Deland. We sat by the window to look out and enjoy people watching. Simple foods for lunch. Love the atmosphere inside and decor. Try it, you'll like it.
