I went to visit some locals and they recommended and took me to this place. Oh man, what a good place. It's a small location a little out of the way, but it's delicious. Best fried chicken I've ever had, delicious and not too greasy. I got half a chicken fried for like 8 or 9 bucks. Also got the sweet potato with brown sugar, delicious. And got the coconut cake for dessert, delicious In short, it's a good place to eat at and I can't wait until I'm in the area again to go back!

Neat old hotel, felt as if we had traveled back in time 100 years. narrow halls and some paint peeling. I think maybe 10 more rooms at the most. it was hard to control the temp in the room. beds were comforable. TV, WIFI, no in the room coffee pot. Had a great dinner at Boeys next door. would stop again, I think. It is NOT your chain cookie cutter motel, nice change.
A small town bed and breakfast that was on our way out of Florida. It's worth the approximate 2-3 miles off the highway. Same price as your standard chains just off the highway so make the drive. We found it online and took the chance and weren't disappointed. Arrived about 30 minutes after reservation online and they were ready with a warm welcome. The room was a nice size, place was very clean, decorated with beautiful antiques. The staff was friendly, efficient, gracious and warm. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful with the same service. All in all more than you would hope for in a B & B.
DeFuniak Springs is my hometown so I'm very familiar with the area. Since my family relocated and our relatives' homes sometimes become too crowded to accommodate everyone for family gatherings, we have lived at the motels off I-10 when in the area. This time I'd decided to try something different and check out the Hotel DeFuniak. Let me tell you this bed & breakfast was a great choice. The Hotel DeFuniak was a welcome change from a typical hotel. It is super clean, quaint and well-decorated. Free Wi-Fi was available which allowed me to get some work done online and stay connected with my co-workers and friends. All of the staff are super friendly and helpful. If you get the chance, do say hello to the owners Pam and Tom, they will make you feel right at home. Oh yeah, the hotel has a great cafe and a hearty breakfast is included in the price of the room. My favorite is the french toast. Bogey's Restaurant is next door where they serve more great food and offer live music on Saturdays.

I love to eat here its like being at home in a relaxed atmosphere. The food is good the staff are friendly and the price perfect. There is a salad bar with fruit and I eat here regularly because of this salad bar & the staff. It has the small town cafe throw back feeling of glad you came and you want to go back.

1) The Chicago hot dog is quite good considering it's a fast food barf-chain. 2) They f'd up our order good, and took way too long to fix it ... so they gave us free coupons for 2 additional meals, good at any Sonic. I just think that's good karma...

Ed’s Restaurant

Reviews:
I have been going to Ed's for almost 20 years, since my first trip to nearby Boy Scout camp. Food is great. As described by others, it is a small town burger joint. That being said, the other menu items are equally good. Fried chicken, meatloaf, "diner" type dishes. True, bathrooms grungy. Waitresses (mostly local high school girls) more than make up for it, with relatively fast and very friendly service! Favorite meal; Pub burger with bacon, hold the salad (lettuce, tomato, onion) and add grilled onions, side of onion rings and a blueberry milkshake. Try it and you WILL be back.
Don't order the lunch special, it takes forever. We got veggie plates (pre cooked) and people that came in after us got burgers and fries (cooked per order) got theirs before us. Go figure.
Just left ed's restaurant upset got their before 10 watch the girl clean tables for over 10 minutes then I had to get and ask for menus. The girl got our drink order wrong and wanted to argue with us about when breakfast was and she had no customer service, you would think that someone you work for tips would not upset her customers. Now I have a upset wife and a messed up Labor Day. Will not go back for breakfast anytime soon.

Always good, (after 6 visits) Seafood is fresh with sides that do not disappoint. Staff is quick and professional. Portions are so that without a large appetite, you may get to take some home. The best Defuniak Springs has to offer, and equal to anything in Destin, FL
They have moved. 1st visit was good. 2nd visit. ... Not so good. We sat for about 10 minutes waiting for our Order to be taken. The place was not crowded. When we finally order it took 20 minutes to receive appetizers. Ordered a 2nd alcoholic beverage and did not receive. The waitress asked and I cancelled after 10 minutes of waiting. Drink refills were not noticed. Bread was cold. I don't usually complain and try I give the benefit of a doubt but it in all honesty it sucked. Busboy brought out 1st drinks and another waitress brought our food. So disappointed. It was better embraced at the old location. People at other tables looked just as hopeless as we did waiting on their meal. Not sure if I will be back. I drink, 1 tea, 2 app, and an ahi tuna meal= $57.00. Wanna go back?? Ehh pass..
An oasis in the middle of this very laid back almost iconic American town. Very hospitable owners that guide the restaurant from both front and back of the house with experienced hands on approach. Good fish and steak dishes,,,,,all reasonably priced in a modern and newly renovated historic building. Don't miss this gem. If I found myself back in this neck of the woods again.....I would eat here every meal, as there was nothing else of any quality in the town.

Mom & Dad’s Italian Restaurant

Reviews:
There's not a whole lot of choices when you're in the booming metropolis of Defuniak Springs, you know? At the urging of our instructor, this is where we ended up for dinner after the first day of our certification dives nearby. And no lie, it seriously feels like you're at your mom and dad's house. Or in this case, my aunt's house, because she's the one with the dark wood and the cross stitch and such. It was very homey, but not in a cheesy overdone kind of way. The menu was pretty straightforward -- a few apps, a couple of salads, some thin crust pizza offerings, pasta, and a dozen or so regular entrees -- and prices were very reasonable. Entrees ranged from a 4 dollar 6oz burger to a 19 dollar filet, with most falling in the 11 to 12 dollar range. I didn't want to eat anything too heavy since we would be diving again the next day, so I went simple with the "Create Your Own Pasta" section: four choices of pasta for $3 - $4 (spaghetti, fettucine, ravioli, tortellini), four choices of sauce for an additional $3 - $5 (tomato sauce, eat sauce, alfredo, and scampi butter) and choice of meat for another $3 - $4 (meatballs, shrimp, chicken, and Italian sausage). I toyed with the idea of getting just spaghetti with tomato sauce, but decided maybe it wouldn't be enough since it was only six bucks and added chicken as well for another $3. Boy was that a mistake - HUGE portion of pasta, plenty of sauce, and an entire grilled chicken breast sliced right there on top of it all. I made a valiant attempt to finish it all, but still ended up with a ton left over. This could have easily made two meals. The sauce itself was tasty, and the chicken was moist and flavorful. Definitely not what I was expecting for the price, especially considering we were out in the middle of nowhere. Not many choices in restaurants usually leads to some pretty bleh food, but I enjoyed mine just fine and so did everyone else in our group of six. Service was friendly and adequate and our meals came quickly. We paid at the front register (which you can't miss when you walk in the door) and rolled out with bellies way-too-full. Will definitely be back here if we ever end up in the area diving again. This would probably only be a 3 - 3.5 star review in a normal town, but it should definitely rate as one of the better places to eat out here, so a good 4 on a curve. :)
We are new to the area and had heard good things about this restaurant. We had dinner there last Thursday night for the Prime Rib night - we were there at 7:00- a little wait but we found out they had been out of the prime rib for almost an hour! I don't understand how they can promote a special and not have enough to serve your customers! Shows bad planning. I've heard that this is not unusual for them. The chicken Parmesan was fair to good- good Caesar salad was good- dessert- Italian cream cake did not taste fresh- pretty dry. Probably won't be back.
Lovely spot to stop to eat. Easy access from I-10. We ate pasta, eggplant and broccoli. Everything was delicious. Friendly waitstaff and hostess. We would eat here again.

I just don't get this place at all. I was passing through and saw the solid reviews and decided to give it a try. When you walk in you find yourself in a dark confined space packed with "country" stuff that I guess is supposed to give you a Cracker Barrel type vibe. It's all dusty, and should have been my hint to turn around and find something else. To get to your table, the server escorts you down a hallway that opens up into a HUGE room complete with a stage, DJ booth, TVs, games, bar and tons of tables. This place can't seem to decide what it wants to look like... BBQ joint, sports bar, club, or church (yes there are lots of signs indicating that they hold church in here too). The food itself was underwhelming. Served dripping with sauce and overcooked, the brisket was not deserving of the praise I read about in other reviews.
Amazing BBQ pork ribs n fried Okra! Surprised to find a great Texan BBQ In Florida! The staff even talked like texans! Great (and big) place, great food and service, I'd def come back! Also fun was the DJ doing a Name-that-Tune game with TV show theme songs! Wish we were here on a Sunday to check out the Blue Jean Church that's held there, too!
Had a BBQ craving, decided to give it a go. Huge place, varied menu. I ordered the half rack of ribs with slaw and baked beans for my sides. Excellent! I asked for my ribs dry, not a huge fan of BBQ sauce. 6 huge smokey, meaty ribs, very pleased. Very affordable. Beans and slaw were good as well. Hubby had the BBQ sampler plate. Pulled pork, brisket and two ribs, baked potato and grilled veggies were his sides. He loved the pulled pork. He's not a big beef eater so I ended up with the brisket, yummy. His ribs came sauced, he was a happy camper. We also hit here during happy hour; two for one wells and beers. So, if in the mood for BBQ and find yourself on DeFuniak Springs, this is the place to go!
