Hot dog was good, burger was good and overall food was good. Gyro meat was good but taziki sauce could have used a little salt or garlic. Anyhow, the people behind the counter were nice and friendly.

We eat out a lot, food is good... Hamburgs are frozen pattie...but I have eaten a lot of their other items...always good stuff. The best part is the service..these are good guys doing a good job.

The place will someday get a face lift the atmosphere is not all that but, it's good enough, It's clean!! That's what counts clean. It's in a weird location and you almost have to know it's there. I tried the Italian beef and it was great. I'm from the Chicago area and everyone from Chicago will tell you Portillos is one of the best places for Italian beef and hotdogs. Howie's bought me home for lunch today. It was very good. I will be back to get another Italian beef and maybe a dog next time. My daughter had the burger and it was very good and my boy had the dog wrapped in bacon he claims it was very good. I think Howie will be in business for a while.

I loved it! Huge selection of food. I mean there were salads, burgers, sandwiches, hot dogs and more toppings than i ever imagined... btw great tasting fries. Had a great meal at a great price! The place is really nice, and clean... and service was excellent! Loved the cupcakes! Can't wait to go again!

Great authentic Chicago style place for lunch. Prices are very reasonable. Lots of food options...dogs, burgers, gyros, salads... Burgers are great with challah buns and the italian beef is mouth watering. Clean and friendly atmosphere. Bring your kids.. they get a free ice pop after their meal!

Let's all simmer down, here. People act like this is the epitome of culinary achievement. Since this is a hot dog place, a HOT DOG place folks, I'll concentrate on the dogs. Top Dog is Chicago-oriented, which means boiled dogs, poppy seed rolls and mediocre toppings. If you don't like the taste of hot dogs, don't eat 'em instead of blanketing them in a ton of crap. How can you taste the meat? You don't, and that's the point. Those who know insist on New York dogs (DEFINITELY NOT THE NY DOGS HERE) which means grilled (with a snap), a steamed bun, push cart sauce (onions in a mild chili sauce), mustard. Howie's "New York" hot dog comes in a poppy seed roll (and take notice -- you get no advance warning or choice, too bad if you don't like poppy seeds or can't eat them). It is a limp, boiled, sad specimen topped with COLD sauerkraut and chopped onions. COLD. Kills the dog immediately. Too bad. I like these people. They seem to want to do a good job, but can't see why I would want to return.

AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING! Best Chicago Dog Ever! Real Vienna beef, Buns, relish , sport peppers the whole nine yards. They have quite the menu here! The owner is super friendly and staff! Sounded like Chi town customers in there as well! Every time I am down here I know where I am coming!!!

I enjoyed the food and would echo the other positive reviews. I rarely talk about the price, especially if the food was good, but I think it important to mention. I ordered two chili cheese dogs, an order of onion rings, and a fountain drink - Total: $13. I know the average lunch is $10-20, so this was well within range, but I'm not sure how I fell about spending that amount for hot dogs. Maybe I'm just not a big hot dog person. Let's get to the more important part.. Onion rings: Amazing! I am not a huge o-ring person but I thoroughly enjoyed them. Chili cheese dogs: Good. I will go back to try their specialty dogs to get a better feel of what I may have missed out on. Overall, I give a solid 4 star rating for customer service, speed, and quality of food. Well worth a try.

OVER A POUND OF MEAT the young man told me lol. I was looking for some where new to eat and stumbled on top dog. They recommended the bilge pump! (OVER A POUND OF MEAT the young man told me). I was surprised and said i could use a snack for later. It was BIG! More a of a meat lovers sandwich. I didn't add much toppings cause i wanted to know the taste head on. But wasn't disappointed.

Owner is so nice! Ordered the polish, Italian beef, Chicago style dog and loaded tater tots. Although the Italian beef wasn't exactly like Al's or Portillo's, it was still really good and we would definitely get it again.

This is the best hot dog restaurant that I have ever been in. Nice clean place right off 441. My friend and I got there well before the lunch rush around 11am so we had the place to ourselves. We both ordered the Chicago style hot dog with a side of onion rings. We were very happy with both and will definitely be back for more.

Got a Groupon and decided to give it a try. Place is a little dirty not gonna lie. I have celery salt on my butt from the chair I didn't check before Sitting. Ok so, selections we're Chicago dog, which is probably their best choice. Very salty and tasty, hot dog was delicious. Comes and bread and butter pickle. And of course salt. Howies chicken sandwich was ok, the chicken didn't really have any taste besides the teriyaki sauce. And last but not least the Italian hot meat sandwich which was very good as well. You can order it hot or sweet. Worth the stop if you are in the mood for a quick bite and Seminole sight seeing.

Howie is a bit overmatched with more than 1 customer in the place. I got a marginally acceptable Chicago dog once. I had no interest in trying it again.

Yummilicious. Lol if that's even a word. I got the yelp deal and bought one Chicago dog and one New York. Both in a gluten free bun. Howie was careful to ask how sensitive I am to gluten and informing me of cross contamination. Surprisingly the buns are soft and taste like real hot dog buns. I'm happy

Pretty good chicago dogs, I was able to use the Yelp deal of buying a $10 voucher for $6, so I just paid $6 for my meal of Single Italian dog with loaded tater tots..both were very good and very filling. Great guy- Howie, working behind the counter and cooking the food, you can see him really enjoy his cooking, menu, and location. Only complaint would be his store hours are during work hours for me so very rare do I get a chance to see them open, but good food!

What a nice little find, Chicago style dogs and burgers right on 441 and Griffin next to Duncan Donut's, drove by for years and never noticed it. Place was clean and got friendly service from the two ladies behind the counter. Can't go wrong with the Vienna beef dogs and the burgers were no nonsense 1/3 lb patties and went great with the tater tots which is also a nice portion for two.

Wait, hold the phone. Vienna Beef? Check. Poppy seed bun? Check. Authentic Nuclear Green relish? Check! Wait... Is that Lin Brehmer I'm hearing? IS THAT AN XRT LIVE STREAM I'M LISTENING TO??? I'm home!!! (How did I not know of this place until just a few months ago???) Just don't ask for ketchup on your dog. Only barbarians and little children put ketchup on their dogs!

I've eaten here many times and i always include a Chicago hot dog with whatever I'm ordering. Usually two hotdogs. Clean restaurant and good food, hassle free.

Had the double chili cheese dog (grilled dog). Great dog! Owner let me taste the chili first. Give it a try. Friendly place.

Amazing place with a surprisingly extensive menu. Fast personalized service and they will customize your order to your liking. I had the gyro and it was on of the better gyros I've tasted, an abundant amount of sliced lamb was really enough to share. Piping hot fries with just the right amount of crispness and not to thick or starchy. Many other sides are available, you can find anything from super healthy salads you custom build to amazing burgers and really cool creations on the hotdog side. The cheeseburger mr bunny had was cooked just right and it was like eating one at an outdoors barbecue, would do 5th star but the fast food environment doesn't do the food justice. I'll definitely return to enjoy more great food

The food is delicious. The service is friendly. Huge shout out to this place. On top of good food and great service we left my sons tablet and before we even realized it was missing the owner searched for us on Facebook and google to let us know they had my sons tablet. Who does that anymore.??? Thank you !!!!

This place was actually better than expected. I thought it was going to be your every day hot dog stand quality; however, it was quite better than that. I decided on the the bilge pump with frings. The prices aren't terrible although I did use a coupon which made it a little more affordable. They do seem to have a nice community presence evidenced by all of the pictures on the walls. I was also impressed by the amount of food that I received. Restaurants tend to skimp on the sides and they will give you such a small portion (esp. for lunch) that you question why they charge what they do. Not this time. They filled up a nice sized bag with french fries and onion rings. The only complaint I have is that they probably need one more cook b/c there was only one guy doing all of the cooking and it took a little longer to get the food than I expected. However, I definitely will eat at this place again.

The place is clean & cute decor. There's a Chicago theme. Great for the whole family. The food is fresh. They serve good quality like Vienna Beef and not just hot dogs either. There's something for everybody. I'm glad I stumbled upon Howie's. I will definitely be back!

Great place for lunch. Much more than just hot dogs, lots of choices on the menu. Not much decor but it's not why you're there. And Howie is a really nice guy. Menu items reasonably priced. Go for the dogs but I had a Greek salad with gyro on top and it filled me up... and that isn't an easy thing to do. Go... enjoy.

  • Pete J.

Bilge was excellent pound of 3 kinds of meat. We were warned to split it so we did plus split a Chicago dog. The Chicago dog was a skinny hot dog compared to humongous bilge which is the Only reason for only 3 stars. Friendly staff.

Great service each and every time. You get to deal with a friendly staff and you food is made to order. If you want a Top Dog this is the only place to go. I look forward to having lunch here all the time.

I have never been to your location to eat but I will for sure come out and try it... Just wanted to say congrats since you are on the list for having no violations at your store... It's always nice to hear you are eating some where that is clean and well kept by your staff! See you soon....

I've been looking for some lunch spots close to my gym for a while now. After reading Megan J's review of Howie's Top Dog, I decided to scoot on over there after I left the gym and boy am I glad I did. Howies has only been open for 3 or 4 months and is located in a plaza with ample parking .The menu bit.ly/ZtJPIz is quite diverse and touches on different cultures. Whether you're looking for a gourmet dog, spud(stuffed baked potato), veggie burger, salad or one of their 100% beef hamburgers, they have it and more. I loved how they have coke, fanta sprite made with sugar instead of hfcs(high fructose corn syrup). The inside is spotless and the tables have communal benches and chairs * FOOD ORDERED - Charboiled BBQ chicken sandwich ($4.99) bit.ly/10736FV - French fries ($2.29) bit.ly/107484S - Fanta, made with sugar ($2.00) I chose red onions, tomatoes and lettuce on my BBQ chicken sandwich. They dress the sandwich right in front of you.The sandwich was tender, tasty and filling. Each bite was robust with flavor, the condiments and bun were super fresh. I really don't expect a fast food joint to put in the effort to maintain really fresh ingredients, but they do at Howies. The French Fries were crisp and firm, they went perfect with my BBQ Jamaican ketchup( I carry my own ketchup). Howies was not conservative with the portions at all, the container was somewhat overflowing with fries. * PLUSES - guten free items. - vegetarian and seafood items. - they have coke, sprite, fanta made with sugar. - you choose all the condiments you want on your order. * NOTES - they have a daily $1.00 off special(Buck off) on a single item mon-fri . - service was prompt and friendly. - perfect for a lunch spot.

I stop in a few times a month for lunch. I like this place. Good Polish and Italian Beef. Very friendly staff, super clean place to eat. Yummy! I have been to Chicago many times, and have eaten 20 plus Italian beef sandwhiches there, and the Italian Beef at Howie's is a near authentic match. Support local non-chain food!

As someone who was born and raised in Chicago, I have high expectations for a good Italian Beef sandwich. I have been jonesing ever since Fat Lou's down in Hallendale Beach closed up. Howie's Top Dog has THE BEST Italian Beef sandwich that I have had during my 10 years here in south Florida!! Served just the way I ordered it, with great service as well. Met Howie himself working at the counter. He has a great product and great employees. I will definitely be back!!

The folks here will pile it on however you like it. I love toppings on my hot dogs and hamburgers, some times coming up with the craziest combos. I had a feta olive burger, they grilled up the mushrooms and stacked on red onions, pickles, lettuce and tomato. Delicious. Staff is really friendly and move quickly to prep your order.

  • Mike S.

They always have great food here even if you don't order the dogs (which I recommend). Owner is always there and cares about the biz. I always have the standard Chicago dogs with tater tots. It's nice when a place serves tasty crispy tots instead of just fries. If you want good quick food this is a great stop.

We were 8 people all originally from Chicago. The food was fabulous. Italian Beef was yummy. Employees were nice, patient and had a great attitude. All the customers seemed to be happy with the great food.

Finally found a real hot dog place right near me! The food and service here is very good. I've been here twice so far and must say, Howie is so nice and friendly. He makes whatever you want with great toppings. Must try the peppers!! amazing. I've had the Chicago dog and the NY one so far. The grilled chicken sandwich is awesome too. very tasty! You can tell they take pride in their business. Professional, friendly, and clean establishment. Your go-to spot for a great lunch.

2nd time there both times were great. I had them make me 2 the bilge pumps to go. When I got home the sandwich was so big I called the owner and told him he gave me 4 instead of 2. He said no they're cut in half. What a deal.

Howie's Top Dog is a GREAT place to eat. First, Howie's customer service is outstanding. I felt welcomed and I was treated as if I was a guest in his home. Not enough good things can be said about how excellent his customer service is. Additionally, they serve Vienna Beef, what's more Chicago than that? Needless to say the hotdog, chicken sandwich, and fries I ordered were delicious. So, if you like Chicago hotdogs this is the place to go.

  • Bobbie P.

Been here a few times.... Delish!!! My fiancé is from Chicago and said the Italian beef is almost exactly authentic. The gyros are great too. Service is friendly ( which is rare in South Florida) . Go here!!

  • Joe N.

I have been here a few times and the service is great. Howie is usually there and he is very nice to my kids. I ask for an extra boat because my kids will not eat a whole meal then instead he splits it for is without us asking. For the people with the negative reviews here need to understand that different regions view foods differently. So when this place promotes that it's Chicago based and you order a New York dog then remember they are not from New York and trying to make the dog the best way they know how. If you don't like the way something is then ask for it a certain way and Howie will gladly serve it however you would like it. Now for the food I have had the gyro, Italian beef, and Chicago dog so far and all of them were great. This is a place where I return again and again because you get great service, great food , and low prices.

As a Chicagoan transplanted to South Florida, I was happy to find a taste of home at Howie's Top Dog. Clean, pleasant, good food cooked to your specs, and super-nice, super-good service. Vienna beef hotdogs! Hurray! (and: WXRT on the radio!)

I'm from Chicago and this place is great!! The food cooked to order, my favorite of course is the Chicago dog, but everything on the menu is also really good. I try and come in once a week lol.. Staff awesome too..

  • Howard H.

Not sure why this place received so many high reviews. First of all, the staff is very friendly, I will give them that. But the service was very slow. They seemed very disorganized today when a party of 10 or so with kids and adult got in line in front of us, they were not able to get the tickets out as quickly as I like. I must have waited in line for at least 20 minutes before they were even able to pay any attention to me. As for the food...nothing special Tasted like regular boiled hot dogs came out from a typical hot dog packages you can get from local supermarkets. I ordered the chili dog it was not even hot and the cheddar cheese didn't even melt. Fries were a little undercooked for my taste. Maybe because that huge party a head of us that made them to rush and get the food out. The reason for the two starts is because the friendly servers.

Okay so I went in today to check out Howie's Top Dog...needless to say it was a great experience. As I walked in I saw the environment was cool and minimalistic but very clean good environment for kids. I was greeted warmly and with a smile, that makes for a good starter to any meal. I ordered the double Italian sausage and the frings (French fries and onion rings, for those indecisive customers like me, lol) I sat and ate my meal and they had a nice stream of customers. The food is delicious and straight forward delicious, staff is friendly and I wish them the best of luck as a small business, and with that great attitude I'm sure they will go far. So check them out!! I know I will be back.

We are always happy when we come here, usually about twice a month. I am a fan of a good Chicago Dog. I get the Dog with loaded Tots and have never been disappointed. We have a couple of choices in the area to get a Chi Dog, but Howie's give us a little room to spread out. Service is always good.

I tried this place for the first time today and it was good. I had a bacon burger. The bun and toppings were super fresh and tasty. A little pricey I think as there aren't any "combos." I will be back to try other things!
