I absolutely love this place!!! My husband lived in japan for 2 years and he says that this is the closest he has had to the real thing! Everything we have tried is amazing! I think the prices are a bit high on the sushi, but it's worth every penny! It clean and the staff is friendly!

Great sushi for a local place! Sunday nights and $1 Kirin Ichi Ban makes it our favorite night to go. We love sitting at the sushi bar and talking with the chefs. The best soy ginger dressing ever! I do wish it was more like a relaxing restaurant...not almost fast foody!

This was not at all what we expected... Unless you are going for just sushi and sit at the sushi bar, you go to a counter to place your order. In doing this, we lost our table and had to find somewhere else to sit. My husband got the beef hibachi.. it was not anything spectacular and lacked flavor. I decided to try Japanese curry, and it was a lot like yellow thai curry, but nothing spectacular. We also got a roll of sushi for an appetizer, which didn't come out until we were halfway done with our food. The sushi was good. You have to get your own drinks and silverware too.. It was very loud also and had to almost yell to be heard. There are much better places to get sushi, hibachi, and Japanese food.

Best sushi in this area. Recommends: Miso Soup, California Roll, Spicy Tuna Roll. I enjoy the seaweed salad and octopus rolls, but those aren't for everyone (the texture takes getting used to for you non-asians out there - lol). If you want to play it safe, miso soup and california rolls. Oh, and if I catch you not trying to learn to use chopsticks in there, I will karate chop you!

BLUF: Great place for sushi in this area. I will return on my next business trip. I would bring my wife here if she were to accompany me. Its not a world-beater but certainly a cut above other dining establishments in this area. Value is excellent. People who complain about the size of portions aren't understanding the quality of fish theyre getting. I ordered the red dragon roll (soft shell crab), tuna & avocado roll, and nigri tuna. The soft shell crab was perfect. The tuna roll was good and the nigri sushi... Well to be honest the size of the tuna piece could / should have been slightly smaller. (Too large) But at least the hand pressed rice mound was the appropriate size...DC sushi bars will often screw that up. This place didnt. Wish the rice was vinegared but given I'm in the Florida panhandle I'm not gonna dock points there. :) The other BIG kudos I should mention is re: the beer tap list... their list is better than most of the drinking establishments in the area... Tonight they had a blue point lager, 312, and their standard kirin, as well as some other standard tap beers. To only have the standard American get-drunk beers would have been a disappointment, so points were scored in this dept. Lastly I should mention, this is a VERY casual place... Shorts and tshirt type. So for a very casual and young feeling establishment I am overrall very happy and surprised by my dining experience. Apologize for punctuation, this was written on my iphone

Very good and fresh sashimi! I am glad I went to that place. I was a bit desperate to find food I would like in this area... no offense...

This place is awesome, the sushi chefs are a lot of fun and develop a lot of innovative rolls. They are cheerful with all of their clientele and are always receptive to ideas. We've been going there since they opened and have not been disappointed. For fun, sit at the sushi bar and kick back a drink and talk with the guys, it's just great.

Great sushi and great chefs! Perfect atmosphere and one of the best places to eat and relax in Crestview!

  • Laura C.

This is the best sushi on the Emerald Coast by far. I love the sushi and the squid salad. My husband loves the yakisoba. We love sitting at the sushi bar with the guys. The prices are great too. I just wish they were closer to home, but we keep finding reasons to make the trip to Crestview just to eat here. Definitely worth the drive if you don't live there.

I've eaten a lot of sushi around the country and this is by far the best! Their menu is pretty good, but they'll make whatever you want. They also have a hibachi menu that is awesome! Oh, and they have Kirin Ichiban on tap and it's always cold! The guys behind the bar are really cool and the atmosphere is chill. Try this place!

Came here for a study group. Big location. Great sushi. Gluten Free Friendly items available. Mochi Ice cream and it didn't cost me an arm and a leg. Worth a try.

I really enjoyed sitting at the sushi bar and chatting with the chefs. They are very friendly and genuniely interesed in showing everyone seated there a good time. They are very fast with service too. My request to add avacado and cucumber to the roll I selected was happily met. They also made a special half-sized sashimi appetizer for me of just the fish I wanted (instead of chef's choice). Everything I had was very fresh and had great flavor. Prices are in line with most other japanese restaurants in the area. My sashimi appetizer, sushi roll, and glass of wine came to $20.

This is one of those places I go when I really can't think of any place else. I'm not a huge sushi fan, I admit, so I can't really speak on that aspect. I do the hibachi (which isn't really done in a traditional way, it's done behind the scenes in the kitchen and really isn't, well, hibachi). The flavor of the food is ok, but I find the portions to be small and the food overall is expensive. The staff is very friendly and they foster a fun environment, so that probably gets them higher food ratings.

sushi was great. service was great. Danny and the other chefs at the sushi bar are hilarious. prices are good about 6-8 bucks for 6 rolls. sunday $1 beer special is where its at!

Had the crunchy spicey shrimp roll, very good. It's all self service though, and no one says anything. So be ready.

Awesome place. I lived in Japan for 3 yrs and let me tell you, this place has fresh sashimi and tasty sushi. My daughers love this place!! I live in Pensacola and wish we had Bamboo here!!! Oh, by the way, Willie, Mike, and Danny, sushi chef, were GOOD PEOPLE!!!!!

I have to admit, I was little skeptical when I found this place on Yelp & read the reviews. Come on, great sushi in Crestview? My wife & I gave it a shot and were very presently surprised. They have an extraordinarily friendly staff. We have never been engaged in conversation with a sushi chef like this before. The sushi was fresh & fantastic. Give it shot, you'll be glad you did.

  • Meredithe M.

Everyone has been talking this place up so we went. It was ok. The speciality rolls are tastier then the normal sushi rolls. My spicy tuna roll was brown and not very fresh looking. The TNT roll was yummy. I've never had eel before and it was pretty good. Same deal with the tuna in it...I didn't get sick so I guess it's all good.

I've been here quite a few times and I e never been overly impressed with the food. The staff is always very friendly and knowledgable with the menu. The sushi is alright. I prefer Sorabal's sushi though. If I order at Bamboo what I would normally order at Sorabal, I always leave still hungry. Bamboo's sushi just isn't filling at all. On Sundays, they have dollar beers which is always fun to go in for. If it wasn't for dollar beers though, I can't say I'd ever really want to go to Bamboo again.

Great stop on my cross country drive. Thanks yelp from relieving me from another unhealthy interstate meal. This is just about 1/2 mile off the interstate in a big strip-mall. I had udon noodles with tempura shrimp. Tasty enough though I am not certain they make the broth themselves. I would have preferred the tempura on the side rather than soaked in the broth. I didn't have sushi, but everyone else seemed happy with their sushi. What I consider oddly built Americanized sushi rolls seemed a hit with the locals, many of whom are local military. BONUS: 1 dollar draft Kirin on Sunday.

I brought my daughter to Bamboo Sushi Bar & Hibachi for two reasons: 1) We LOVE Hibachi & she loves sushi and 2) our friends highly recommended the place. I came in with such high hopes and was anxious to eat & be enthralled with the tastes and the glory of eating at one of the most highly recommended places (not just for sushi or hibachi) in the View. By the time we left, both my daughter and I agree to not EVER eat there again. First of all, the menu is a MESS. It's ridiculous. Second of all, the "hibachi" is done behind the scenes, not in the traditional manner. Thirdly, the food was worse than I can make myself at home. What a HUGE disappointment. The rice tasted like it was 2 days old and had no flavor at all. The sauce the meat was cooked in tasted like it was from a cheap brand jar or can. It smelled like my cat's food. And the tea wasn't even sweet. Disaster is the only way I can describe this meal. I can't think of any reason I would return. The staff was nice, and friendly ... although we had to wait at the counter while they finished a conversation (not order related) with three other customers before they would take our order.

I been working at the local hospital for a few weeks. Frequented bamboo daily until.... My last visit. I ordered the bulldog roll (fantastic) and the Panko chicken. Well.... The gave my chicken to the wrong person who began to eat it (she was sitting next to me) and realized this is not what she ordered. They realized it was my meal so they took it back to the kitchen. Well... They give you 2sauces when you order she poured the sauce on her rice and took a few bites before they took it to the kitchen. Well guess what the sauce was on the rice that was on my plate and there was a piece of chicken with a bite out of it. I was disgusted paid my bill and left. Food is excellent but I will never ever visit again due to this experience. If you like sushi it is good a bit on the pricey side compared to other sushi places I been to. But be careful who has had your food before you did. It is to bad that this happened

  • Shop F.

The sushi is great if you are going for American style sushi and Japanese food. If you want real Japanese style (not Okinawan) then I would recommend Sorabal. The hibachi here is good and the atmosphere is fun. They have always been busy every time I've come so I know there are plenty of people who love it. Having lived in Japan for many years I prefer traditional Japanese sushi. hibachi, and yakisoba which is why I can only give them a 3.

  • Jeff P.

I first had reservations when I realized that not one employee was Japanese. I give them credit for trying, but it fell short. The nigiri was fresh and tasty. But, the veggie tempura was giant and had way too much batter (think fried food at the fair, not tempura). I couldn't even eat it. The edamame was gross (straight out of the microwave). The green tea came in a bag. They have a good start with the fresh fish, but they have a way to go.

Ok so I'm definitely like a lot of people when it comes to sushi....very picky. But I've eaten sushi in Europe, New York, and Seattle and this little gem in Crestview is still the absolute best tasting and freshest sushi I've ever had. I've been here at least 10 times to enjoy sushi and a lively atmosphere with the chefs. Any sushi chef you get here will be entertaining and super friendly. These guys all love to laugh, but are very good at making sushi even when the place is jam packed (which it usually is in the evenings). If you are visiting northwest FL and looking for an amazing little place for sushi give this a try, you won't be disappointed. hot tip - ask "white Mike" to make you the hot girl roll. every person I've ever recommended this roll to has made it their favorite.

As a new customer it would've been nice to know you need to pick up menu up front and go to the back to order your food. We waited a few minutes at the entrance before we finally asked one of the waitress what the deal was. I would go here for Sushi and beer. Hibachi was OK, the prices are more if you want different sauces added to your meat, fried rice was OK nothing special.

    (3)
  • Marcus V.

Sushi was good, but hibachi came out Luke warm, not hot. I had the New York strip, chicken and shrimp. Steak was ok, but shrimp and chicken were horrible. The iced tea was soured and, the Coke ran out of syrup and was never replaced. Then we were harassed every five minutes, by different staff asking if we needed anything. I spent $50.00 on my party of four, which included two small kids, not worth it.

  • Carlos A.

Between the food and the crew at the sushi bar, it doesn't get much better for me. I can recommend the Panko fried chicken plates and the yaki soba noodles as well for general food. For sushi, you can't go wrong, my favorite being the Sasquatch. All the rolls are made fresh to order. Don't see something you like? Tell the crew what you want in a roll and they'll make it happen.

    (5)
  • Melissa L.

The selection is great, but the quality wasn't. It was more mediocre. Sometimes, my rolls would fall apart or there isn't enough rice for the nigiri. The way you order is like a fast food restaurant. I guess I'm just more authentic Japanese dining.

Bamboo is in a new location in the same strip mall. We stop here on out drives down to Ft. Myers. New location and much better ambiance with good specials! Had the shrimp hibachi with fried rice, and it was fabulous!!!

This is our Saturday ritual! We love Bamboo! Sushi is amazing, hibachi is great! Try the lemon pepper tuna appetizer. And the King Kong if you are sharing!

Bamboo Sushi has delicious sushi rolls. I keep meaning to order something else, but I can't help myself. My favorite is Mr. Orange. The shredded crab on top adds the perfect flavor and texture. The King Kong is no joke. It is enormous and delicious. Their bathrooms have been spotless every time I've used them. Also, the staff is friendly and cheerful. Everyone seems to be perfectly thrilled to work there. My favorite restaurant in Crestview.

If you are familiar with authentic Yaki Soba... then you will not be disappointed. The staff is always very nice. During peek meal times be prepared to wait as this place is no secret to the locals.

Ate here for lunch on a Saturday. Ordered the Scallops Nigiri, the Sunset Roll, and a Spicy Salmon roll. Great sushi, and nice atmosphere. Unfortunately, I didn't know there was a line to order my food, before I sat down. There was a group of 6 of us, and we wasted a lot of time because the ordering process was unclear.

  • Mary Grace C.

I tried this place 3 times thinking that it'll improve but it never did. This place is over price and the sushi was mediocre. I also ordered the ny steak with rice and was served 8 pieces of cut of meat and a mountain of rice. Never again.

    (2)
  • Michelle N.

Food here is good! It isn't your hibachi style table with show, you sit down, take your menu to a cashier to order, and they bring your food to you. The fried rice is a bit odd, we ordered chicken fried rice and it came deconstructed with the chicken off to the side and drizzled with teriyaki sauce. It was still good, I just wanted the next newbie to be aware! The sushi was amazing and I'll be back for sure. The hibachi was just okay, so maybe we'll skip on that next time.

  • Logan C.

Bamboo is close to my house, has a nice beer selection, and delicious sushi. As a new customer, it would have been nice to know about the ordering system, instead of waiting for 30 minutes to be seated while other customers came in, picked up their pre-ordered food, and took an open table.

Feel in love w/ this place when they first opened. Food is still great all this time. Everyone is super friendly. Missed this place when I lived out of country & state. Glad it's still here and only moved to a new area. They worked w/ me when I was pregnant & couldn't eat certain foods. Keep up the great job!!

Just freaking live this place all around!!! The atmosphere the staff brings is happy and laid back! The Plum wine is amazing you have to try it if you go! Ugh I just I just have so many good things to say and I can't type it all!!! One of my favorite places point, blank, period!!!!

  • Beth T.

This is by far my favorite place to eat in Crestview, and honestly it's my favorite sushi place completely. They have a really unique ordering system so you can go at your own pace, which I enjoy because it takes me a few minutes to decide what to order and I always feel bad at other places for making the waiter keep coming to check if I'm ready. Prices are reasonable on rolls, personally the nigiri is higher priced than other places, but its delicious so I don't mind too much. Everything is fresh, everything is well prepared, and everything my friends and I have had was super yummy. You really cant go wrong so be adventurous!

If you ever want to get crazy good sushi with scallops and shrimp (enough for 2 people) get the King Kong roll. Lots of food for 2 and it's AMAZING!! I also love the Mt. Fuji (like a small King Kong) and Crispy California roll (inexpensive specialty roll). My wife and I love sitting at the sushi bar and watching the guys interact with the customers. They are funny and really seem to enjoy their work!! Hands down, the best restaurant in Crestview AND the best sushi I have had in all of my world travels. Every time I fly back home I always crave Bamboo and stop by before I even get home!!

So freaking good! If you are in the area don't waste your time at Applebee's or any other chain. Great prices, super fresh fish, and a really really sweet staff. Danny talked it up with me and my sister. Amazing specials on beer and sushi!

We asked for our waiter to order for us and we were BLOWN AWAY!!! This place was so friendly and chillaxed even with our kids. Take a seat at the bar and order up. You won't be disappointed!

Amazing service. Amazing food. We were immediately greeted at the door by a super friendly hostess who explained everything to us and we sat at the full service sushi bar. We ordered everything from our server and it was very quick. The service of him and the staff was impeccable. Some of the best service that I have ever received at a restaurant. We ordered the salmon avocado roll, bacon avocado roll and teriyaki chicken hibachi. Everything tasted amazing. Hibachi was the best. We've been driving across the country from Las Vegas to Miami and this was a great stop on our road trip. I definitely recommend it to anyone nearby or stopping through.

  • Daniela J.

We ate the King Kong roll it was amazing, the place was very clean, and the serves very friendly, we set at the bar, they were almost closing, and they didn't rush us! They have so many rolls, and good happy hour!

  • Sarah H.

We always sit at the bar and enjoy chatting with the sushi chefs. Coming from a town where sushi is HUGE, it was hard to grin and bear the sushi we've found (or haven't found) in Okaloosa. Bamboo takes a great stab at making relatively awesome sushi. While not the best I've ever had, it certainly is the friendliest sushi place I've encountered. Serving craft beer on draft also helps their cause greatly. My husband is a huge fan of their hibachi, and he's very picky, so I'll say there's a win there! If you're new or local to Crestview, you'll find Bamboo is one of the only good places open for dinner. Check them out, grab a beer, and chat up the guys that make your rolls!

  • Jerad G.

I don't usually go to sushi places unless I have a friend that really wants to go, and even then I'm not that excited about what I get... Here it was different though because they had an avocado bacon roll that was delicious, and add to that the teriyaki chicken hibachi and I was fully satisfied.

  • Haans249 H.

Hibachi? Don't bother. I haven't had their sushi so this review is not about 'sushi'. I ordered the chicken and shrimp teriyaki hibachi. It only comes with 8oz of protein (4oz shrimp / 4oz chicken) and their interpretation of 'vegetables' which consisted of stir fried onions and cabbage on a mountain of rice. I literally ate my meal in 5 mins it was so small. Maybe I'll try the sushi, but most likely not. I forgot to mention I'm going to Wendy's.

This place is the best place to eat in Crestview. The freshest ingrediants and amazing creative rolls made right there in front of you. I love this place, the service fantastic, friendly and the food is even better. This place is better than several down in Destin or FWB. You can't beat the price. The restaurant is clean, as well as the bathrooms. Thank you for providing great sushi in Crestview!

First things first, I live and grew up in Seattle--a place that has pretty amazing seafood. My boyfriend has been raving about Bamboo Sushi in Crestview close to where he's from for over a year now. Even after trying Sushi at his new home here in Seattle no matter how amazing our meals were he still swore up and down that this place was the best. I finally went to FL with him last week to visit his home town and we just had to go here so I could find out for myself if I could confirm or deny my boyfriends claims. I can happily say that this place DOES have amazing sushi, but all I can say is it is "comparable" to sushi at home. I am not ready to commit to saying which is actually better. I will have to go back at least a couple more times. Three of us sat up at the bar and were served by "white Mike" who was lovely. I had Miso soup, Spicy Tuna Roll, and Samurai Roll--all delicious. Can't forget to mention the perfectly prepared Tuna Shoulder Steak! The prices were decent/ market price for high quality sushi such as this. I'll definitely go back to this place when I'm in town again!!

I was not impressed at all. My sushi was not prepared properly and was on the verge of being spoiled. If you're looking for good Asian go to Sorbal. I will not be returning.

This sushi bar is really a sports bar with televisions blaring and noise abounding. It takes on the appearance of a fast food sports bar where the wait staff only serves the food after you decide on your dish and walk up to a counter in the back and order. I'm a little curious why there is a tip jar at the counter. Do you tip people for standing behind the counter and taking your order? The sashimi was not fresh. In fact I had to take it back which is not typically what I do. I believe this is the first time in years that I had to send a dish back because of freshness. In addition to the fish not being fresh, it was not sliced all the way through. Very poor knife skills, but when you have a bunch of young kids pretending to be sushi chefs, what should you expect. Additionally, after sending the sashimi back I could see one of the employees adamantly defending the freshness to another employee in front of everyone. If you want quick service, then this is the place. If you want sashimi or fresh fish in sushi then I would look some place else.

The best sushi place in the Crestview area. Always a favorite spot to take family and friends. The staff is great. Friendly and knowledgable servers provide excellent service. The sushi chefs are fast and efficient and willing to create sushi requests that aren't on the menu. Check the walls behind the sushi bar for daily specials!

I have updated this review based on the owner actually taking the time to contact me and apologize. That is admirable, and deserves a better rating. I am still disappointed in my original experience, but I have to believe that if an owner will take the time to reply to a yelp review, the service and overall quality has improved. I would be willing to give them another try.

I've been a sushi fan for about 10 years. And I've been blessed to live in an area of the country that has very fresh seafood, and some great sushi restaurants. I was recently in the Crestview area and my wife suggested that I stop in and try the "Bamboo." And she knows that she only has to suggest "sushi" to me once...I won't argue. I love good sushi. I found the atmosphere at Bamboo to be a little "mall-ish"...sort of like a combination of a sushi bar and a walk-up counter at a big mall food court. The place was pretty clean (especially notable in Crestview). There is a lot of parking close by the restaurant, is it's centered in the largest mall in Crestview. The staff was relatively friendly and helpful. And with the number of customers they had in the restaurant, my wife and I decided we wanted to try a good variety of menu offerings, to get a complete picture of what was available, and how good the food actually was. Our impression of the menu was that the restaurant seemed to be trying to be "all things for all people"...like something of the "Walmart" of sushi. They seemed to want to have virtually every possible combination they could think of, rather than having a good selection of sushi items that they "do" extremely well. We ordered the King Kong roll, a California roll, a spicy tuna roll, and three other specialty roll choices. Frankly, both my wife and I were somewhat disappointed with the food. The rolls were pretty tight and well-constructed. But the taste of the rice and the rolls themselves was rather bland. The look of the food was rather "un-artful." If I owned this restaurant I'd make sure MY face was available to the customers, and that I stopped by every table to ask about the customer's experience. I'd do a bit of remodeling to add a bit of privacy between tables...even if only to drop a few lattice panels from the ceiling slightly above head-height to give the impression of a "barrier." And I'd strongly consider cutting my menu choices by half, and ensuring that that massive staff that was elbow-to-elbow behind the counter were turning out the absolute best tasting and best looking sushi possible. As it is, this place is easily forgettable

I might be crazy but anyone who thinks this place is awesome has never had quality sushi. We read a lot of reviews that said this place was way above par so we were very excited for our first visit. Please allow me to elaborate, the rolls were Ok but the Tuna was suspect, it looked like a dark piece of beef. Overall, the service was good but for the price the portions were down right repulsive. For one, if you are a sushi bar that is supposed to be what you do. In my personal experiences rolls have always been made to the size of a silver dollar or at least half dollar and anywhere from 8-10 inches long with prices about $7-12 per roll. At Bamboo, for $7, you get a roll about the size of quarter about and between 6 inches long. It appears to me that the owner or general manager is only about making a buck not turning or out a solid roll. Even though the rolls tasted Ok, I couldn't get past the fact that the rolls were way overpriced. And that for the same amount of cash I could have bought some rolls from Wal-Mart, Publix or Winn Dixie and gave a little on the taste. I will not return unless they update their menu and freshness of their seafood. If I went on a bad day, then they need to fire the manager and sushi chefs and make a Crestview wide announcement that they are under new management.

Not an Asian in the place, what a unique concept. Place your order, find a table and they bring the food to you. And did I mention the sushi chefs are not Asian? Don't let that fool you, the food is good and not ridiculously overpriced. I would come back.

We had the bulldog roll and some saki bombs, then Matt produced the most Delicious roll. A fusion twist on ceviche, perfectly sliced yellowtail, masago and a scallion center, finished with a quickly seared salmon in lemon on top of this melt in mouth medley of sushi. Matt is an artist. Enjoy

We were passing by from Niceville and decided to give this place a shot. Inside was clean You can sit at the counter with full service or you can seat yourself at one of the tables and go self-serve. If you choose self serve you'll need to go as far as to grab the menus from the hostess stand, decide what you want (and remember it, you can't write on the menus!), and then order at the register. We tried the spider, rainbow, yellowtail, mr orange, and the face melter (secret one). My wife and I really liked the mr orange roll. Yellowtail and rainbow rolls were boring. The face melter was good and spicy, but not over the top. Overall, decent food and prices. If you can't make it down to the shore this is a fine alternative.
