Hands down the best BBQ in the area. The ribs, pulled pork sandwich, and smoked chicken breast are exceptional. We go there at least twice a week for lunch.

I am not a big fan of BBQ businesses at all. So many times do I get let down by either the initial offering or consistency (4Rivers). This joint has some great "Q". I had the pulled pork sandwich and some ribs. The ribs were tender and not covered in BBQ sauce. The sandwich had just enough sauce to moisten it further. No more. I am not a big fan of sauces at all but their sauce was great! Go to Poppa's BBQ! It is terrific stuff. You will not be sorry!

This little gem is by far the best BBQ in the area. They offer Memphis-style BBQ and the baby back ribs come clean off the bone. The BBQ is so good that they are not even open for dinner and the weekends. If you come during a work day lunch you will see that this place gets packed. It's counter-service and very casual, but it's not the ambiance why people come here, it's the food. If you come late they may run out of your favorite meat. They don't have that many side selections (nothing fried) but that doesn't affect my rating. My recommendation is try the chicken and rib combo. For less than $10 you can't go wrong.

real Q. The special of the day was the regular pulled pork sandwich and 2 ribs. I was still recovering from a bad ribs experience a few days ago in south Georgia so decided n the regular sandwich and two sides. Huge mistake. The ribs were true babybacks and had a solid smoke line. The sides were good. The BBQ pork was perfectly smoked and pulled containing both inside and outside bark. Sauce wasn't necessary but enjoyed when splashed.Poppa's has it done to perfection.

Legit Q. Pinellas county is starved for good Q, and this place is helping to the fill the void. Sparse interior, no servers, styrofoam plates. The pulled pork sandwich is excellent, very well picked through with no fatty globs to ruin a good mouthful. The ribs have a dry rub and, as some astute reviewers have already pointed out, are fall-off-the-bone tender. Baked beans and potato salad are also very tasty. If you've got a hankerin' for pig do yourself a favor and grab a plate at Poppa's.

There hardest part is deciding which plate to get. This place is great, friendly staff and excellent food. Make sure you check out Poppa's BBQ.

Absolutely love Poppa's BBQ and can't get enough of the pulled pork sandwich. It's great to be able to get a pulled pork sandwich, two sides and a drink for under $7. Keep in mind, they are only open for lunch M-F!

Being born and raised in Georgia sets the bar pretty high on a few different categories in life and BBQ is no exception to that rule. BBQ is not the easiest to find in St. Pete, at least the GOOD stuff is. I went to Poppa's BBQ today for lunch, and let me tell you, this is the real deal! I got there about 12:30, at the height of the lunch rush, and by then they had already sold out of the ribs and chicken. This gem makes all the food they are going to have that day, and when it's gone, it's really gone so get there early! I got the regular size pulled pork sandwich and my lunch buddy got the jumbo lunch plate that came with 2 sides and a drink. The jumbo size is a HUGE portion of meat on a large bun that made me glad I got the smaller size. The baked beans were good, but nothing too special. They had a little sweetness to them with a little bit of pulled pork added in, and the potato salad was also tasty. It wasn't too wet and had a little bit of mustard and relish added in. All in all it is a great place for delicious bbq when you're down in the St. Pete/Clearwater area! I'll definitely be back, just much earlier next time since I want to try some ribs!
