After a night of drinking beers at a local brewery, we were heading back, and I was craving a burger. Having never been here, we decided to give it a go. We parked in the back, and had to walk past the dumpster to go inside, the smell of the dumpster made me almost not want a burger any longer. I'm going to have to ask you to think about proper dumpster placement. Once inside, we moseyed up to the bar. We ordered a couple drinks while me looked at the menu. I went with the Big Peter Burger, medium rare, with cheese, all the way. I also had fries for my side, when I saw that they offered gravy for $0.40 more to go with the fries, I thought that it was a novel idea. The bartender then asked me "Beef or turkey gravy?" wow, not only do they offer gravy with the fries, but you get a choice? I went with the beef gravy. The burger came out a perfect medium rare, with the right amount of grease. I enjoyed it immensely, and I also enjoyed my gravy fries. The drinks were strong, and the bartender was attentive. They serve up a solid burger here, and I would recommend giving them a try if you find yourself needing a late night snack.

Good, but nothing special. I do like that the menu has some very non-Florida foods that we are inundated with as Florida residents, so a fried pork tenderloin sandwich is a welcomed item. The sandwich was cooked very well as it was crispy and juicy, but it was very bland. I didn't taste any seasoning at all, although the mustard and pickles helped. This inside is a bit dingier than I expected, considering the outside looks pretty nice. Inside is like a dive bar, which I like, but it wasn't expected. I'm sure I'll come back again because the prices were right and the beer was cold.

I visited Pete & Shorty's with a group of friends after a long morning of bridesmaid dress fittings across the street. The bride and her mother are from the midwest, which is why they chose Pete & Shorty's for our meal. The restaurant is dubbed an "Iowa Bistro," and they had said that the pork sandwich was their favorite. Despite their rave reviews, I went with the Reel Good Fish Sandwich. I opted for grilled fish and added American cheese. It was nothing spectacular and honestly it was rather bland. I suppose I should've gone with a more "homestyle" menu item, but they have a fish fry special on Fridays so I assumed their fish must be good. Fried also would've been a better choice. There is a kitschy painting in the ladies' restroom where you can peek under David's fig leaf. I chose not to, but our waitress told us that you get a button if you do. The place is decent-sized and there's a nice outdoor patio with extra seating. I did also notice that they have excellent happy hour deals. I drive by the tavern quite a bit, so I'd be willing to give it another shot to impress me.

Food sucks. Plain, bland and I wouldn't come here ever again. Happy hr all day Sunday $4 for a beer. Nasty food.

Yeah, it's bar food...but really good bar food! My soccer team and I frequent here quite a bit after games and can't say we've ever had a bad experience..prices are low...just as the chances of getting bad service. The staff has always been friendly. We usually have a big group, so we're definitely not the easiest to deal with . Having said that, our orders have never been messed up and we've never complained about the rate that we received our drinks or food..Make sure you try the loaded tots!

This place is a hidden gem! The food and drinks are always satisfying and extremely well priced! The staff is friendly and fun! Just over all a great little place! So happy I stumbled upon it one day! Life changing! Nom nom!!

Good food for great cheap price. Bar food but good. Small cozy place great for kids. Great service and friendly waitresses.

Did an internet search for the best hamburgers in clearwater and it came back with Pete & Shorty's, which happens to be less than a mile from my house. I have passed the place a million times, but never noticed it as it doesn't look like much from the outside. Don't let the outer appearance fool you, this place is a gem. I had the best burger I have had in years and the onion straws are very addicting. I have already gone back twice in the last two weeks. I have found my new favorite neighborhood place to eat.

Loved the food and service, new favorite spot in Clearwater. Our friends came on vacation and wanted to find as many local places to check out, eat, and shop at and this ended up being one of our first. The place is decently sized, when you first walk In is more of a family or group place to eat. The back. The restaurant towards the bar is more relaxed, unless the World Cup is on. Lol. Our waitress was very nice and friendly and greeted us immediately when we sat down. The food was great, through all of us we had the giant burgers, the loaded tatter tots, fish dinner, and Reuben sandwich. Not one complaint from any of us ! Quick food, fantastic service, and you wouldn't expect that from a bar setting which we thought it was. Thanks for the service.

A friend recommended this place for the sliders but my husband was drawn to the pork tenderloin. Both turned out to positively amazing. Our server was so friendly and professional. The food arrived at our table piping hot. We chose double sliders, pork tenderloin, shoestring fries and onion straws. Everything was delicious. Juicy hamburgers, perfectly cooked fried and onion straws that were addicting. Even their well rum was decent. I will definitely miss these sliders when I return to Chicago but this will give me a reason to return. So, if you live close by or want a vacation treat, stop in and have a very nice dining experience.

The best onion straws! My sister said the best, juiciest burger and my pork sandwich was de-lish! Great informal, friendly atmosphere too! Can't wait to go to the Friday night fish fry!

This place is great -- its like what would happen if a classic American diner and a sports bar got married and had a baby restaurant. There is an indoor bar where they were also serving food, an interior space separate from the bar that feels more like a cool roadside diner, and a huge outdoor seating area with twinkling white lights and warmers. We arrived late on a Wednesday night - almost 10:30 - and the bar was packed so we sat in the "diner" area which was still great. Nice to find a non-chain diner place that serves food late. Service was awesome - fast, friendly and efficient. I had the Wednesday meatloaf which reminded me of my grandma's. It came with potatoes, gravy, roll with butter, and really good fresh, sauteed green beans - $6.99. My husband ordered the Shepherd's pie and a grilled cheese sandwich, both of which were great and also reasonably priced. Good stuff -- we'll be back!

We found this place nearby through Yelp and were glad we did. Joelene was a great waitress and was laughing along with us about the review that said you would get treated poorly if didn't order Shorty's burger. She said never and afteri ordered the wings made her statement so true. Excellent service by all and great food. Will be returning

Spin off from Hooters, the original is next door. Try the Shirty burgers and the tator tots. Pork tenderloin sandwich is yummy too.

Haven't been here for years and it's still a nice restaurant, Seems like they still have consistent services and the food quality felt about the same. It can get a bit noisy. The day we were there the bar patrons were yelling back and forth to each other -it did get a bit annoying, but services was fast so we were able to leave quickly.

  • Kim H.

Yummy "Pete Burger" with cheese, cooked perfectly medium. Amber Bock on tap for $2 at "happy hour". Shared a side of "onion straws" with my hubby. Great food. The only reason it gets 4 stars instead of 5 is tables are too tight, temp very warm inside. However, food and prices can't be beat.

  • Lane R.

We have been to Pete and Shorty's many times over there years. When we aren't looking to drop big bucks on a burger this is where we head. The indoor seating has always struck me as a bit odd, there is the dark bar area with tables and then a light and bright room that you enter in also with tables, it's sort of a strange layout. I really prefer the outdoor seating on a nice day. Their menu is mainly made up of fried foods and burgers. I find the onion straws to always be too greasy, but the fries are generally pretty good. Whether you order the Shorty burgers (think Krystal or White Castle) or a regular burger you can't go wrong. Pete and Shorty's makes a great burger and I would never stray from ordering one.

Went here because of the Ads on TV. Very effective. I'd have thought that because it was Xmas Eve, it would have been slammed, however it was really slow. That was a plus for us. We ordered the Loaded Fries, French Dip and the Mushroom Cheese burger. The food came out quick, it was hot and DELICIOUS! Prices were really reasonable, and I admit it, I'm a perv. I peeked, and got a button for it!

Pete & Shorty's is one of those Tampa Bay culinary landmarks you need to try at least once. One of their claims to fame are their Shorty Burgers, tiny little burgers (like sliders) sold either in singles or by the dozen. With or without cheese, they come mopped (served with mustard, onion, and pickels). They are addictive! The bread is nice and soft, and the beef tastes good. They have many other items on their menu (including the full size amazing Big Pete Burger), and in all my visits I've never had a bad meal. You need to try the loaded Tater Tots with chili, cheese, jalapeños and sour cream. Yes, it is as artery clogging as it sounds, but delicious nonetheless. The atmosphere is very relaxed and informal, with a large bar and a couple of seating areas, including outdoor seating. Don't come expecting Carrabas or Outback. It is however very clean, friendly, and the service is good. Yay! I'm a fan!

Pretty good and consistent food. Nice specials like the Friday fish fry. We come here every once in a while. Nice outdoor seating but not enough tables outside usually.

This place has fun and casual written all over it. It almost has that "hide a way" feel with the old red/brown brick look on the outside with its family come sit-down me feel on the inside. If you think upscale "hole n the wall" you might get close to the atmosphere. Overall the place is very clean and inviting. The décor has two rooms one is predominantly the bar area with booths and tables around sort of a sports bar hang-out; the other, has the feel of the kitchen area kind of homey with all tables and the service area kind of in the open. The also had plenty of outside seating with the tall "warmers" as this is Florida's winter. Like other reviews, I liked this room and did think the flying pig was very cool. I ordered two of the Shorty Burgers (sliders) mustard, onion, pickle (MOP) with tater tots. If you have ever had White Castle or Krystal burgers this is close to the same flavor but an upgrade in quality. They come out hot and wrapped in Pete n Shorty paper. The onion and pickle are very distinct adding a delightful punch to the mini-burger. Since I love every tater tot under the sun I have they were as good as the last ones I had. The sliders were so good I ordered a third. The service was very good and prompt. This would be a good place for a happy hour or group meeting. Definitely an good place.

We have eaten here many times and absolutely love the fish fry and shorty burgers. And the bowl of Ham 'n White Beans is a work of art! However, tonight we had an OK meal--not bad, just OK--the Back Porch Boil. On the plus side--it's a good value. A big bowl of sausage, potatoes, corn, and shrimp. What made it OK? It arrived lukewarm--Boil, means it should be served steaming. There wasn't much seasoning--a little red colored liquid in the bottom of the bowl. I know that Iowans understand spice--the Pork Chop on a Stick I've had at the Iowa State Fair is testament to that fact. The shrimp reminded me of something I pull out of my freezer when I need some additional protein on my salad. It's a finesse thing, but a small plate/bowl for spent corn cobs and shrimp tails would have been appreciated. Back to the good stuff about Pete and Shorty's--great service, good seating arrangements, solid menu. I can appreciate wanting to try new stuff, but I think the Iowa Bistro should let the folks who live on the coast handle boils.

Ate here on a Monday night with my son to watch a hockey game (Lightning). He had a huge bacon burger with mash potatoes. He loved it. I had b l t on rye and it was very good. Pretty waitress and very good service. More intimate than those mega sports bars.

Great place to grab home cooked/sports bar food...yes, an interesting hybrid. Kind of a trashy crowd at times, but then very fun and homey. Dynamic place you have to check out a few times to say the least.

Petes Reel Good Fish Dinner Grilled, blackened, or fried with fries and cole slaw. 8.99 Had the fried Tilapia and I had it in many higher priced restaurants but this was second to none.....will definately return while visiting Clearwater area!

A small bar and restaurant with a bit of a local/dive bar type feel, but the servers/bartender and guests were super-welcoming and in a very short period of time we felt like we belonged and (if we only lived here) like this would become a regular spot. There was a brief moment of hilarity when my girlfriend was caught peeking at some art in the bathroom and this only added to our sense of belonging. If the thought of a small local joint is a turn on rather than a turn off, I highly recommend checking out Pete & Shorty's.

This place seriously deserves the Best Burger crown. I'm not sure why I have driven by this place a million times without stopping in. The $6.99 bacon cheeseburger was amazing and the other dishes we ordered shrimp basket, and boneless wings were fresh and tasty. Atmosphere is sort of sports bar meets cozy home with a cool outside patio. I'm craving another burger now.

been here 3x..always busy..first time i had burgers/chili and beer..no complaints-very good, lotsa fun. Second time we went for the fish fry on Friday, was pretty decent, no complaints..i think the problem with the third visit is everything was fine and i ordered the boneless chicken wings and for the price and portion i got, i wasn't that happy with it..next time i will stick with the 1.99 burger -decent place, prices for the most part reasonable. Always good service!

This place was pretty fantastic. My friend and I ate on the patio and watched the last 15 minutes of the Rays game on a big screen tv. It was kind of a down time on Sunday afternoon and there were no dogs. Who wouldn't want to eat with their dogs at this place? If my dog wouldn't jump all over the place, I would totally hang out with my dog here. Let's be real, dogs are more human than most humans. And there should be more places you can hang out with them. Anyways.. my meal was ah may zing. I don't think this is a place you could go to everyday, but a couple times a month would be good. I think my meal alone will tell you why. The Western Nachos are genius. Fritos, yes corn chips, topped with chili, shredded cheese, lettuce, sour cream, tomatoes.. and did i mention chili? It was very good chili. I was also the first to step it up a notch. If you order the nachos, ask them to put grilled chicken on top. It wasn't on the menu, but I've had nachos like that before so I asked if they could add it they did which gives them brownie points in my book. I also ordered their onion straws and the straws and sauce served with it was a great appetizer. My friend ordered the chip chicken which sounds and looks like a heart attack on a plate but she said it was great. So I am definitely ordering it next time. It is a fillet of chicken breaded with potato chips and fried and then covered with a broccoli cheese sauce. So I hope you are tempted to try this restaurant with a (hopefully) quality review (just ignore the first if you'd like). Happy eating!!

I don't think I've ever eaten anything there that wasn't bland or greasy. Unfortunately I live on the same street where its located and its a bit convenient to walk down with guests and out of town family. At least they can't screw up the beer.

I love Pete and Shorty's because it stands in such sharp contrast to its next door neighbor (The original location of Hooter's). P & S offers good food at good prices and a good bar. The dining room is comfortable and friendly and the menu has just enough options without going overboard. The burgers are fantastic and you must try the signature Pork Tenderloin sandwich. P&S is an excellent stopover on the way to Bright House Field, whether for Phillies Spring Training or Threshers Minor League game.

This place is next to the original Hooters in Clearwater, which is NO MORE....Hooters that is, the building is bulldozed, which led us to Pete & Shorty's. We will definitely be back. Bar type atmosphere but busy & friendly. We ordered the French dip (best I've ever had) & the Petes burgers which are the size of White Castles, very good also. We also shared a tator tots loaded with cheese, bacon, sour cream, jalepenos, very tasty! Lots of beers & ones I'd actually drink other than the usual Florida Miller Lite or Amber Boch (a Shock Top Pumpkin) yum! The staff is overly friendly, this place doesn't look like much on the outside, or the inside for that matter, but its cozy & welcoming & we will BE BACK next time we are in Clearwater.

We have eaten here at least 6 times since moving to the area and originally we really like this place. They offered a wide variety of bar food and cheap prices and all the food tasted great. The Shorty burgers are small but good so make sure you order a few of those. The fish fry is nice with a good portion of fish and a light breading. Kids meals are normal and decently priced. They don't stick it to you for chicken nuggets and fries like other restaurants try and do. Everything else is just average Recently went back and noticed they downsized the new menu which isn't always a bad thing but the cleanliness of the restaurant has gone down and the past few times we have sat at sticky tables and food on the seats. If it is one thing that bugs me when going to a restaurant, its dirty tables and chairs. Also the staff doesn't seem to excited to be working. Almost all except a few never seem to smile or introduce themselves or even pretend to care. Overall, pretty average food, mediocre service, lacking cleanliness and an update would help freshen it up.

Bar food at it's best. We're talking fried pickles, fried banana peppers, individual sliders (aptly named Shorty burgers), pork wings & loaded tater tots.... Great spot to wait out the first half of an über-long track meet.

What a fun place with basic but solid bar food and a high energy level. Not your chain type bar.

We go for the chili and stay for everything else. If you haven't tried the chili, you should! We've sampled an array of items on their menu. The most notable items are the The Reel Good Fried Fish Sandwich, the French dip is huge and the fries and onion straws are awesome. I wish their burgers were bigger and juicier.

We had gone to a concert at Capital Theater in Clearwater and in our program there was an add to bring in the ticket stub and you can get a free drink. They had me at free. Now I was very excited to see they had TV'S with sports on but I was disappointed to hear music instead of the sports that were on. Our server was quick and very pleasent. We oreder just appiziters and shared them between the 3 of us. We had the onion straws that were cut perfectly thin and cooked to a nice golden crisp. They had a nice horseradish sauce that complemented it perfectly. The fried mushrooms were really good because they were cut into pieces rather than whole. No burned mouth when you take the first bite. Lastly we had boneless chicken wings. The chicken tasted very fresh and was moist also. A nice blue cheese was served with it. Overall very good food. If you happen to visit and you go into the ladies restroom, look under the statues leaf just for a good laugh.

We stopped in for lunch. Sat in the porch dining area. Not being acknowledged or waited on, I finally got up and got our menus and eating utensils. We studied the menu, decided what we wanted to eat and continued to sit waiting for somebody to come to the table. After sitting for 10 minutes and seeing 5 wait staff walking around, but not waiting on us, we finally got up and walked out and went elsewhere since we were beyond hungry. We probably won't be back.

Terrific local bar with cold beer, good fish sandwiches and burgers. It's also one of the few places outside the Midwest where you can find breaded tenderloin sandwiches. Worth a stop.

  • Henry C.

This place is full of contradictions, Nice outside, lowbrow inside. Perfectly prepared Pork shank paired with canned beans. This place has the best French Dip in town. If the weathers nice grab a seat outside, because the inside can get very crowded as the tables are right on top of one another. Friendly servers, reasonable prices, will make this a place I can hit regularly instead of a mindless national chain.

I went back to Pete and Shortys, and the manager, Roger was very helpful and took very good care of us. I have to admit, they really want to take care of their customers. I would recommend Pete and Shorty's to anyone visiting the Tampabay area. Great Job.

I just got back from my 2nd fantastic night at Pete & Shorty's. If you get the chance, you should hit this place up on Sunday nights for some awesome live music (Pete and Dean with their guitars singing mostly covers and some fun unique originals). It's a relaxed atmosphere with a great crowd. The drink prices are good and the food that I've tasted (amazing fried pickles and tater tots appetizers) is enjoyable.

This place isn't much to look at and certainly not very comfortable, but the food is good and the drinks are cold. Quick service from waitstaff that's polite but not overly friendly. Not a bad place to spend $10-$12 for a good lunch.

Yay! I'm a fan! MUSHROOM CHIPS are great. I've never seen fried mushrooms slices, battered and served chip-style with a dipping sauce. Usually, they're whole mushrooms and you only get a few. This was easily 10 mushrooms sliced up. Excellent! CHILI w/ FRITOS is basically a Frito pie. Just dump the chili on the Frito Scoops and get on with it. Delicious! SHORTY BURGERS are basically Krystal-sized sliders. Now, P&S char-grills their burgers, making them AUTOMATICALLY better than most places, and if this is a small sample of what their big burgers taste like, them I'm sold. Could be one of the best burgers in Clearwater. Additionally, they have a $5 burger and tots deal on Tuesdays. Can't wait to try this deal. Service was much more friendly and ACCURATE than the place next door.

I visited this place due to a recommendation from a friend. I ordered the loaded wings. The food and service were both excellent, no complaint there whatsoever, however the price, compared to the miniscule portion of food I recieved was very disappointing. I left still hungry... The environment was EXTREMELY noisy for an early afternoon lunch as well.

This is a Midwestern Mom & Pop restaurant serving the locals traditional diner like classics. The place has a casual, clean and simple feel. The menu consists of apps, burgers, salads, sandwiches and a few plates. Almost everything on the menu is under $10...seriously! I had the meatloaf (Wednesday's special) and the bacon burger deluxe with corn on the cob and green beans. The meatloaf was a single slice; a little thin, but respectable. It was much better with a generous side of gravy. The burger was moist and full flavored with a nice bit of char. It was topped with lettuce, tomato, red onion and bacon. It tasted just like the ones I pull off the grill myself. The place was packed when I walked in and Alex was kind enough to seat me as a solo at a four top. (This is my excuse for ordering two entrees, both at $6.99 mind you.) Happy hour drink specials are $1.99 for all well and draft beers. Outside happy hour, domestic drafts are move up to $2.50 and wells to a whopping $3.25. (Yes, you are reading this correctly). Service was impeccable and a surprise at such a casual eatery. I would give Alex and her partner, Angie each 5 stars. The service here is better than I have had in many of the finest steakhouses across the country. You should definitely request them when you come. I recommend that you come early to beat the crowd, bring friends and order two entrees. At these prices, you can't go wrong.

We tried to go to Hooters to watch the Bucs game and it was on a 20 minute wait. However, we found no wait at Pete & Shorty's -- which shares the same parking lot. P&S changed its menu recently, and it was a good change. You can now get boneless wings (a lot like Hooters), loaded tater-tots, and a few other Hooters-like new menu items. Good bar food -- especially the mini-burgers. Nice variety of sides available. I like sitting on the porch. There is only one TV, but it is big!

First time here because of yelp reviews and food is really good, especially for the price. It's mostly a pub but it has tables around it, an adjacent small cozy dining room and a few tables outside. We took the kids but I think we'll leave em at home next time. It wasn't that people were swearing and fighting but it was a little loud due to the games on all the flat screens, which I enjoyed! The main reason for only 3 stars was that we felt ignored at the door and we had to ask several times what the seating process was. A girl told me to sit at any open/ clean table, so we did, only to be told that it was reserved and moved to another. But after that, the waitress was very nice and attentive to the kids and everything was on point. We'll be back.

Like Leonard c. Says - 'it's bar food" Not very impressed with the food. We had the Saturday fish bake - but there were only 5 shrimp and no other seafood - very disappointing. They could have thrown in a tilapia since that's their fried fish, instead they load it with kielbasa and potatoes. Won't be back

The environment is good as far as a bar goes. The drink menu was creative. The service was OK. But beware of the food. Canned, frozen, bland and low grade. Good for the drunken crowd, but I honestly could have gone to steak n shake and gotten a more flavorful burger. Hubby ordered shepherd pie. The corn kernels had freezer urn marks on them and the gravy was gross. Low grade meat was used on both our dishes.

I'm not sure why, this has always been one of those places I drive by on a daily basis but have never stopped in. That finally changed when I came in for dinner tonight. I decided to stop in and see what the ladies night special was all about. I ordered a margarita to start ($4 happy hour instead of the usual $5) then checked out the menu. Part of the ladies night special was $4 apps so I went for the fried pickles with ranch. Also got a shorty burger, which is like the size of a White Castle and comes with basic toppings for $1.50. The pickles were fried deliciousness and the burger was decent Overall the service was good and I liked the cozy pub feel inside. Will go back again soon!

After being pretty dissatisfied by neighboring Hooters, I mosied on down to Pete and Shorty's a spirited spit away absolutely starving. They had great outdoor seating, friendly staff, and in the women's room a painting of David wearing a fig leaf you can't resist pulling up- which I did. The server handed me an "I Peeked" button, how cute! The sliders were enough to kill my craving for flame-licked beef, the chili was great on tots, and the mushroom slices were to die for. The beer was frosty on a hotter day, and I sat at a comfortable table just outside an adorable little courtyard. Next time I'll lay off the deep fried foods and try something on the lighter side, but really happy to have stumbled into this place!

  • Josiah G.

Yay!

Pete & Shorty's provides a great bar food experience, with a step up from White Castle style sliders and substantial menu. The prices are reasonable and the daily specials are an even better deal. It is not as extensive or refined as say BJ's Brewhouse, but it doesn't cost nearly as much either. You won't be disappointed.

I went here before a Rays game a few months ago. I was intrigued by their little burgers. Wow! They were as close as you can get to White Castle down here (yeahhh better than Krystals too). I know they have days where the little burgers are on sale...this was not one of the days I was there. We sat outside and got great service. We were there just before the lunch rush would've arrived. I haven't had a chance to get back here, but I'm going to try to make a point to soon. This place is right next to the ORIGINAL HOOTERS if that matters. I know P&S is owned by the same group however, I'd choose P&S over HOOTERS any day. I'll definitely be back!

Yay! I'm a fan!

If you happen to visit and you go into the ladies restroom, look under the statues leaf just for a good laugh.

been here 3x..always busy..first time i had burgers/chili and beer..no complaints-very good, lotsa fun.

Comically bad. This is the only time Yelp reviews have ever led me astray, so I had to post a contrasting opinion. The food was utterly and completely tasteless. Almost impressively so. There was one perk during this misspent evening. I finally got to use one of my favorite "Sweet Home Alabama" movie quotes in context: "Oh, look, you have a BABY... in a bar..."

We ate dinner here tonight and had an okay, mixed experience. Setting: Yep, it's a bar. The place wasn't the cleanest and not the greatest smell but a nice atmosphere with plenty of locals. Service: Excellent. Seat yourself, but everyone greeted us as we walked in. Our server couldn't have been better. Food: Overall, some good, some bad. The good: Appetizers were good. We had the pickles and loaded tots. Good portions and came out quickly. The french dip was pretty good, as others have mentioned. The bad: I had chicken alfredo soup which was way too heavy and bland. It could have been actual pasta sauce that they served as soup...not kidding. The breaded shrimp was okay - my wife said it was too salty. The pot roast was terrible. I was given a bowl of pot roast with canned gravy on top. I was given a separate bowl with mashed potatoes with more canned gravy. The server said the potatoes were frozen but real. The menu mentioned roasted carrots but there were none to be found. The meat tasted okay, but just a very unappealing dinner. My son ordered the sirloin steak medium well. It was grilled past well done and was bordering charred. It was only about 1/2in thick, so easy to overcook. Definitely skip this one if you eat here. On the way out, my wife only half-kidding said we should have ate at Hooters across the parking lot and gotten better food.

Food here is great. If you don't mind a smoky bar-like atmosphere you'll love their food. Try the french dip sandwich, it's amazing!

I've been searching the Clearwater area for a bar with a great burger and a beer. Pete & Shorty's appeared high on every list of reviews, and that reputation is well deserved. I checked it out and had their burger special with onion straws which was very tasty, and the $2 pints were refreshing. I'll definitely be back!

I took my son and we sat outside and enjoyed the sun and radio! Typical pub fare but great French dip and I had a very good Caesar salad with buttery sauteed shrimp. Very friendly service!

This place isn't much to look at and certainly not very comfortable, but the food is good and the drinks are cold. Quick service from waitstaff that's polite but not overly friendly. Not a bad place to spend $10-$12 for a good lunch.

Although seemingly popular with some locals, my fish sandwich was so salty as to be inedible. Friendly service. No pretenses.

Remember the show CHEERS? Pete + Shorty's reminds me of that show!! They treat you like family, the food is GREAT (especially the "Shorty" Burgers) and it is a UNIQUE restaurant in the land of chains!!
