High Blood Pressure at Applebee's

Most of the foods served at Applebee's restaurants are high in sodium. Unless you are visiting the restaurant or dining here in the group, there are hardly any options from the main meals if you wish to keep your blood pressure in check. You can rely on a few salad options though. If lucky, you may find low-sodium ribs as well at the restaurant.

Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Blood Pressure

Avoid Green Goddess Wedge at Applebee's. Broccoli Cheese Soup and French Onion Soup contain over 1000mg sodium and hence must be skipped as well. Skip all the chicken dishes and seafood at Applebee's except Grilled Chicken Breast and Baked Haddock without sides respectively. You must also skip Brunch Burger, Quesadilla Burger, Triple Bacon Burger, and Whiskey Bacon Burger at Applebee's. High sodium intake can be lethal for a high blood pressure candidate. Avoid ordering foods that contain over 1000mg sodium at Applebee's, especially if you're dining alone.

High Cholesterol at Applebee's

Well, steaks and ribs go hand in hand with cholesterol. Being their signature dish, it will be a challenge to find low-calorie, healthy food for those concerned with their cholesterol levels. However, you can always opt for their salads and other light foods to keep the cholesterol in check.

Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Cholesterol

If you have high cholesterol, then you must avoid eating sandwiches, wraps, and tacos at Applebee's. While the salads and soups sound healthy, you must skip the Fiesta Chopped Salad and Loaded Potato Soup at Applebee's. It is also advised to dodge the Three Cheese Chicken Penne and Chicken Fajita Rollup. Any main meal with over 100mg cholesterol is not idle for someone with high cholesterol. So, skip those items at Applebee's.

Oh, how I do not want to give anyone 2 stars but oh my.... We came here for dinner prior to seeing a comedian at Ruth Eckerd Hall. We also had a gift card we wanted to use. When I checked in and saw the 2 stars rating, I should've known better, but I wanted to make my own judgement. It's been a while since I've been to an Applebee's, but I never recall having a bad experience ever. I was hoping we would have a decent one so that I may be able to give this place a better rating to help its average. It started well as our host and sever was very nice and welcoming. I ordered the pepper-crusted sirloin (medium-rare, but more on the rare side) and whole grains while the hubby ordered the Napa chicken and Portobellos along with a side Cesar salad. He requested the salad come out before the meals. As we were waiting, I noticed each table had a gaming tablet. I saw something similar to this at Outback a while ago before they pulled it off their restaurant. So I figure we could play a trivia game or something while we waited for our food. Turns out, every game they offered had a 99 cent charged- I was quite appalled that there was even a charge, so I put that away. We got our dinner and my hubby realized he never got his side salad. No big deal, he asked the waitress to just take it off our bill. She apologized "they" never brought it out to him and she would be glad to box it up for him to enjoy later, which was very nice. My hubby noticed his dish didn't have as much greens as the same dish he ordered last week in Milwaulkee. But again, whatever. Now, let's get to my dish....I noticed my steak was cooked quite the opposite of what I had requested. It didn't even have a slight hint of pink. But I didn't want to send it back, as it wasn't worth the time and I didn't want to waste food. My dish tasted fine, nothing to brag about. The food overall was alright, not horrible, not the best I've ever had either. Average. The manager came by to apologized for the waitress messing up on the salad order. I told him it's not her fault that the person forgot to bring it. He then corrected me and told me that she was the one who was suppose to bring salads to her own table. Oh my.... again, we were like oh well it happens, I guess. We got our bill and did not get charged for the salad as requested, but then we noticed we got charged 99 cents for a game, a game we didn't even purchase..Ugh! At this point, we had to get going, we needed to get to our show. I didn't want to deal with the manager again and waste more of our time. So we paid our bill and headed out. But lesson learned...if this place is rated 2 stars...you're probably going to have a 2 star experience. Don't even dare touch the tablet, as you may get charged...and either have a lot of time on your hand to send things back to the kitchen, or wait for things that may never come. Based on my Yelp app, there are plenty of other restaurants near by with at least 4 stars rating, that we will try, next time we have a show to go to at Ruth Eckerd Hall.

Ok well they renovated the place. The lighting in here is so bright it's crazy the beer is still warm. I have no hope. We complain to the manager at no avail. I guess they just don't care. We will not be back. We live around the corner. The bar used to be packed years ago.

I like Applebee's, specially for their appetizers late at night. Sometimes I get that feeling that I have to have one more conversation before the end of the day (one more drink, one more bite). This location seems like a very laid back location during weeknights. I've come now a couple of times on Tuesday's after 11:00 pm and sat at the bar. Denni the bartender is one reason I want to come back, she's pleasant and takes good care of her customers. They have a lot of their appetizers half price after 10 pm. The grilled chicken wonton tacos, the pub pretzels and their quesadillas are great choices. They have a lot of things in their menu and they seem to be experimenting a lot more with healthy choices. Like their sibling restaurants, they have daily deals on food and drinks worth to check out. I haven't come here on the weekends but I like the relaxy vibe during the week. The only thing they don't have compared to other Aplebee's is a Touchtunes jukebox. I'll be back one of these late nights.

Typical Aaplebees. Set up like every other one I have ever been to. Service was nice and friendly. We arrived during afternoon half priced appetizers. Unlike other locations I have been this one will only do it if you are sitting in the bar area. Which was fine, just hadn't heard of that restriction before. Food was good. We shared the siracha shrimp, a rack of ribs and the s'more churros. I didn't care for the chocolate in the chocolate/toasted marshmallows dip. Reminded me of Hershey syrup. Which is not a bad thing, I guess I was expecting something a little better than that though.

Absolutely terrible. My mom, sister, and I waited three minutes for anyone to sit us at a table. After that we sat down and waited 13 minutes and not one person came and asked us if we needed drinks. Five different waitresses walked by us multiple times and didn't ask or stop to see if we were okay. So at the 15 minute mark we decided to walk out and go somewhere else. As a waitress I see this as terrible management, and terrible training. I would have been fired from my job if I made a table wait 2 minutes. Completely unacceptable.

Apple bee's was able to accommodate our team after along night of softball. Party of 35 at 9 pm. We were all seated promptly and served by several servers. I ordered the 2 for $24 Bourbon Street Steak and spinach and artichoke dip. The food came out fast and hot. The steak although small was well cooked medium rare. The spinach and artichoke dip was OK a lot of chips not enough dip. Service was good.

Good service and good location. Got a sandwich which was excellent really hadn't had one in a while. Always have a positive experience when I come here. Pretty good drink specials and I like how they have changed the decor. I know what to expect when coming to a chain like this and was very happy.

A typical Applebee's. Decent food at fair prices. Lots of appetizer choices. Try the 2 for 20, which includes an appetizer and two entrees. This place is very close to Ruth Eckerd Hall, so it's great for a quick pre-show dinner.

It pains me to even write a review for Applebees, because I hate to admit the fact that I have been here. It's even worse to think I've come more than once! But not by my own desire of course, simply to join along with the company of friends or family who (for some odd reason) wanted to go here. There really is nothing appealing about this restaurant and there are just so many better places to go in the area. Every time I've been to this location, the service is always subpar. One time, a server was flat out rude to the point that I still remember it to this day. Last night's experience wasn't much better. While the server was "okay", he did not go out of his way to make it an enjoyable evening. My mom and I were there together and wanted to split the 2 for 1 drink special. We asked for a diet coke with malibu tall. The server went to go put in the order, came back a moment later and said they can't do 2 for 1 on tall drinks. Ok then....... short it is. None of the food I've had here was ever good. Most of it is greasy or just flat out unappealing. Meanwhile, my mom ordered a soup and salad for dinner. I ordered nothing as I had already eaten somewhere else beforehand. While waiting for the food, I noticed an odor in the air similar to that of "dirty socks", which must be coming from the 30 year old musty carpet. Needless to say, the decor here is totally out of style, looks like it hasn't been changed since 1994. It needs a major update in here. Overall, the food is lacking, the service is lame and stepping in this restaurant is the equivalent of going into a stinky time machine. No thanks!!!

I ate at Applebees last night. I ordered salmon fish. Today I've been sick as a dog and feeling the most horrible I felt in a long time. Been throwing up the whole day this has totally wrecked my Sunday. I believe I have a very bad case of food poisoning eating @Applebees Safety Harbor.

Horrible! Service & Food was lousy! Table and floor were dirty although the bathroom was quite clean.... we went to eat! The food made us both sick we had the cross cut ribs, chicken wings and chicken wonton tacos. Gross gross gross! Never s great again!

Used to come here every Thursday night because there was a stellar bartender Klara. Even before she left the QA in the kitchen needed to be trained on how to make sure food was ready to be presented to the patrons. Consistently cold sides or entire plates but again... the bartender made up for it and we went for simple bar food after several chances. I've talked to the manager on a few occasions and after the remodel nothing has changed. This is a disappointment of an Applebees. Too bad our bartender is gone, that was the only good part about this sub par establishment. Good luck in the future with this place! The restaurant business really isn't that hard.

Well we would have liked to eat at Applebee's however we sat at our table for over ten minutes without anyone acknowledging us. The table next to us was seated after us and had their drinks a few minutes later. Wait staff passed our table on several occasions and never inquired if we had been waited on. So we got up and left, heading to Chili's now

We had tickets to a show at Ruth Eckerd Hall and we were running a bit late since we had to drive in from Sanford. So, we decided to stop at Applebee's because it was about a block away from REH. We were seated right away, and our waiter came pretty quickly. I asked for a gluten free menu, which he said they had and he brought that back pretty quickly. Our drinks took about 5 minutes....and then we waited....and waited....and waited some more. We finally got our order taken 25 minutes after walking in the door. We let our waiter know that we were kind of miffed and after that, he was pretty spot on. Our food came out directly from the over because it was too hot to even eat, which I'm not complaining about at all. The food was even delicious! I had the Bourbon Chicken & Shrimp with broccoli (it comes with fried potatoes but they don't have a dedicated potato frier so I couldn't have those). My husband had the Black & Blue burger, but substituted the Bleu Cheese for Jack cheese, which the kitchen forgot so we had to ask for that. As I stated, the food was all really good and hot! What wasn't good was the severe joint pain I woke up with the next morning. A clear sign that my food was not gluten free. They don't guarantee it so....I guess it's my own fault but honestly....grilled chicken and shrimp with a side of broccoli should NOT have an issue. Still, I only took off a half star for that. I took off another half star for the long wait. I took off an entire star for the manager that walked by us while we were waiting (with closed menus on the table), looked at us, and did nothing at least 20 times.

After a long weekend camping with the Boy Scouts, my family was ready for a healthy home cooked meal, but I was not up to cooking it. This particular store is a test store for many new items and having had lunch there a week prior, I knew that they had the new Cedar Plank Salmon and the other Applebees in our area did not, so we opted to go to this one for that dish. Despite not being very busy, the waitress was slow to come to the table due to arguing with the table behind us about whether or not the manager had paid them a visit. So by the time she did come, we were ready to place out full order. We ordered 2 iced teas and a milk, 2 french onion soups and a broccoli and cheese soup, 2 wedge salads, 2 cedar plank Salmon and a steak. After about 10 minutes, the soups came out, brought by another waitress. When our waitress came by to check on the soups, she noticed that we still did not have drinks and blamed it on the bar being slow with the milk and returned shortly with the drinks. The french onion soups were disgusting. Instead of a bubbling, cauldron with melted cheese on top and crisped around the edges, it was a congealed, greasy slab of not quite melted cheese on top of cold soup base that tasted like cold dishwater. A few seconds later, the manager stopped by our table to ask how we were, and we returned the soup, explaining that it was cold. Not 3 minutes later she returned with the same two bowls of soup, having clearly tossed them into the microwave. The cheese was still nasty, and now it tasted like hot dishwater. We did not eat the soups (but we were still charged for them). The salads came out while the manager was away with the soups and they were good. Next came our main course. As I said before, I understand this store is a test store, and we had been here for lunch barely a week prior and tried a few of the test items on the menu. I was, in fact the first person to try the Cedar Plank Salmon, and they had asked me then to fill out a survey about it. While there were definitely improvements that could be made, overall I enjoyed it enough to want to have it again, which was the whole reason we had come to this particular Applebees tonight. The salmon was dry and rubbery. It was so dry, the artichoke 'sauce' that was supposed to go on top of the salmon was just a lightly colored smear of dried powder on top of the salmon, mixed with some overcooked artichokes. I asked the waitress for some extra sauce but it never came. I ate the potatoes and tried to eat the accompanying greens that came with the salmon while I waited for the sauce. On top of being dry and overcooked, the greens were so incredibly over salted, I felt like I was consuming an entire salt lick. Neither my son nor I could eat the greens in spite of the fact that both of us love spinach - they were just tooo salty. I moved my plate to the side and waited for the waitress to come back. She breezed by our table several times but never stopped or made eye contact to even see that we needed her. Finally, the manager came over and asked if everything was alright. I asked her for some of the sauce for the salmon and she said 'Fine, but I have to charge you." Since the salmon was inedible as it was, I said ok and the waitress returned a few minutes later with a small saucer of the artichoke sauce. My son and I split the extra sauce and choked down our salmon. By this point, our table was full of dirty dishes and empty glasses which in spite of walking past our table numerous times the waitress had not cleared. Finally, the bartender came into the dining area and grabbed a stack of the dirty dishes off our table - she definitely deserves kudos - neither the waitress nor the manager had done anything in spite of being at our table on multiple occasions. We sat at the empty table for more than ten minutes before the waitress finally dropped the check at the table on her way by, and another 10 before she picked it up and went to process it. By the time we were able to leave my son was falling asleep at the table. In all we were there nearly 2 hours and paid $70 for a meal that I would have gladly foregone for the unevenly cooked camp food we had been eating the rest of the weekend. We will not be returning. PS. I am only giving 2 stars in this review because of past good experiences at the restaurant, otherwise it would have been a one.

Come on, it's an Applebee's, OK? They have a wide variety of... Applebee's food... yes, the same food they have at every one of these places. Burgers, spinach dip, nachos, salads. My advice is to select randomly... It won't really matter. On the plus side, it's two-for-one drinks, ALL THE TIME. Bring a designated driver and enjoy the hospitality. Good service and plenty of parking.

What I like about Applebee's, it has offered two for $20 including an appetizer. I like the most about Applebee's their Oriental Grilled Chicken Salad! I love their salad but nothing else on their menu. Their spinach dip was NOT that great as it used to be. I went there last night, the server was OK because he did not check on us often.

Last Saturday night, we didn't feel like going out. A $50 Applebee's gift card came to the rescue. My last experiences at Applebee's haven't been that phenomenal, so we were hesitant to go and eat in the actual restaurant....take out seemed like a safer option. Who knew that a $50 gift card could go so far. Four appetizers later, we still had more than enough money to leave a tip. To our surprise, the service was good, the food was hot and flavorful and I am tempted to go back and get the chicken quesadillas again! The only part that I could have done without was a short visit to their new website to get a menu, where I was greeted by the new Applebee's "spokesapple". It appears that Applebee's is no longer....read more at: greeneggsmarketing.com/2…
