The food is authentic and genuine. The owner is a career scuba diver, and you can tell his profession has greatly influenced the quality of his food. He seasons, and marinates his ceviche to perfection. Additionally, he's extremely friendly. He serves other food besides sea food, such as chicken, and sandwiches. These are good too, but the real uniqueness is to be found in the seafood. I recommend this place to anyone wanting to try something new, experience real 'home cooked' style food, and help support a great staff.

Absolutely delicious and my new favorite spot in the Orlandoland area. It's like sitting in a Peruvian family's living room enjoying their fabulous pulpo and ceviche. Don't miss an alfajor for dessert. YUM.

i must preface by admitting i am a rather picky eater- i'm not picky about what i eat as much as where i eat. i need ethnic, mom and pop, good attentive service and hopefully some care put into the food as its prepared. to me, thats not much to ask but it is hard to find. add to that being in an unfamiliar area and being a new non meat eater and you understand why i drove around from Park Ave to 436... over 20 minutes and 3 failed rest.'s already. we thought we found a cool Columbian place but it was closed. as i'm cursing, my friend saw the Peruvian Food sign next door. score, let's try. it was my kinda place, the smell was amazing and the main language spoken was not American. the menu had a few vegetarian choices but was very fish-centric. i asked why all the fish and got a very helpful tutorial on Peru and the culture of ceviche. i was a little leary of eating such a food in such a setting. the only other ceviche i've bought was at Esca. i did order some fish, though cooked- "Pescado a la Menier" grilled fish with rice and a side sald with some amazing onion relish on it. the fish was so simply cooked in lemon, butter and parsley- dare i say- PERFECT! the rice was made fresh . my freind got the "Papas Rellenos". he's a cook himself and was taken by the taste the raisins and calamata olive peices gave the meat stuffing. we devoured everything and swore that next time we will try the ceviche. they need a better sign, or one at all maybe. and of course this ain't fast food, me and my buddy waited awhile for the food but to say it was worth it was an understatement and the conversation with the owners, though stilted, was quite enjoyable. i wouldn't recomend if you're in a rush, go when you can relax and really enjoy your meal. the prices are great and quite a suprise for such a dish as ceviche, i never mind paying more for freshness but there is no unfair trade off here. you can totally taste the care and the culture- its the ideal of home cooking, albeit far from anything in my childhood home but thats the point of good ethnic food.

Food for our entire party didn't make it ....If you are mediocre, then this is the restaurant for you. The cebiche (main entree) came in first, appetizers later and microwaved anticuchos are not true peruvian food!!! The not too friendly waitress asked my husband did you get your food? And then told the owner-cook and they started to prepare his food; and when I dared to ask for the sweet potatoes (they are in the cebiche's dish) they brought back 2 slices, each an end of a sweet potatoe!!!!! Too bad I didn't take a picture for you to laugh like I did. All happened in a 50 min wait in a hot, small, smoky (it seemed they had burnt some others customers' meal) tiny place. I am peruvian and was trying to have a decent meal in honor to our Independence day. What a shame and embarrassment to our name....I read somewhere in a newspaper article that he had failed before in Miami??? Do yourself a favor and wake up. Restaurant business is not for you or do you want me to call Chef Ramsey.....

Great food and fresh!!! The owner, Bruno, is a fisherman himself so he knows his fish. Highly recommended. My family and I have been going there since its grand opening. One of the best ceviches you'll ever taste in this humble and cozy restaurant. If you like ceviche I also recommend tri-color tiradito. Happy eating!!!!

The Peruvian lunch: fish, salad, rice, hot sauce, a squeeze of lime. Where else can you enjoy a little Tom Petty ("Swingin") and home cooked Peruvian cuisine? So good... #Peru #restaurants #orlando #travel #zoobird

Absolutely magical! I came here for the first time today , and I can honestly say it is the most authentic and tasty Peruvian food I have had in the United States. I don't understand why anyone would give this gem of a restaurant a bad review! The service was very personal and friendly as well! I will definitely frequent this place a lot more.

Not sure what people are saying. Food terrible for most part. Cerviche mixto was just ok. Calamari bad. Had seafood fried rice was real bad, 1.5 cupfull for $12.95 tasted old. Very expensive for the quality and quantity u get. Went to other Peruvian places near Miami that are amazing. Service was good though.

The seafood here is AMAZING!!!! Fresh, delicious and cooked to perfection. We stopped in for lunch. The waitress was helpful with the menu. There is also a picture menu on the wall to help you visualize the most popular items. If you are a water drinker make sure to order the bottled water, the water had a funny taste. We ordered the seafood fried rice and the fried seafood appetizer. Both were amazing and the portions are perfect. We will return.

True authentic Peruvian food. I've been here in Florida for 2 years and they are the best. I especially enjoy their ceviche

This is THE place for authentic Peruvian food. My fiance is Peruvian and her parents were visiting so we all went to try it out. Her father was so impressed and happy to be able to eat such fantasic and real Peruvian food. The papa a la huancaina was great, as was the causa. We all shared those. I had the aji de gallina. Perfecto. The chef made a vegetarian saltado for my fiance and it was amazing. I highly recommend this place. The food was incredible, as was the visual presentation of each dish. This place could charge so much more if they were in NYC or some place similar. Wow!

The best causa I've ever had. The food is amazing and in a totally unassuming location. You must go here if you like real Peruvian food!

ordered the side salad and fried seafood appetizer. they served me in a timely manner. The season food was good and tasted fresh. The portions were pentiful. came with large group and it took forever to get their food. I couldn't finish all my food during everyone complaining.

This cute little restaurant probably isn't something that screams out at you to try. It's located in an aging strip mall and is dwarfed by the large Smokey Bones nearby. Nonetheless, I'm glad I decided to give this place a try, and man was I pleasantly surprised. The seafood was definitely the highlight of the meal. Both the Causa de Camarones and the Ceviche de Pescado were definite musts. Both were incredibly refreshing and something that I've never had before in the Orlando area. The portion size for the Ceviche was incredibly generous with plenty of small morsels of white fish soaked in the a tangy, citrus juice. I am definitely coming here again to try out more of the seafood dishes. The staff is very kind and patient. All of them speak fluent Spanish, and some rough English, but nonetheless a great dinner experience.

We went there for lunch today, and ordered a mix ceviche which was delicious, & the fried seafood platter which was not. If you go I would recommend sticking with the ceviche and not the fried foods. The fried seafood was extremely chewy and hard to swallow

Causa. Shrimp salad wrapped in golden mashed potatoes. Mouthful of flavor!Jalea, a mixto seafood platter with lime, onions tomato and rice. Insane!

I was very excited to try this restaurant as the reviews were exceptional and being born and raised in Peru, I was looking forward to eating Peruvian food. I was very disappointed. The ceviche was bitter, and it seemed that the lime was not fresh at all. The fish did not have time to absorb the lime. The causa was very salty. My friends did not enjoy the food as I had planned. Unfortunately, I will not be coming back.

This place has awesome ceviche. My family comes all the time. We especially like the tiradito de colores. But everything we've tried has been great. The restaurant is not much in appearance but the creative food makes up for it.

This place is a hidden gem. My dad and I were out and about and randomly decided to stop here for lunch. It's very clean and has a nice laid back atmosphere. My dad raved about how clean the bathroom was! That's saying a lot. And of course the food was delicious. My dad loved the ceviche, I was recommended the Pollo saltado and I am so glad because it was perfect. Dessert was also notable - the flan was homemade and almost as good as my mom's haha finally, I had tres leched, which I've been craving for over a month and I was very pleased. Needless to say, we loved El Buzo and will be returning!

The only review that makes any sense here is the one by Claudia L. The food is not good and is all reheated apparently in the microwave. Despite the quickness (you'd think!) of microwaved food, it still took so long for us to get our selections. Our appetizer looked like it would have taken 5 minutes to put together but took about 30. My husband's lomo saltado was chewy and flavorless. My chicken dish had barely any chicken (maybe 1/4 cup of chicken!) and was not hot. Our rice was also very sticky and seemed old. Gummy. Husband asked for a hot sauce and was brought a tiny plastic cup which had little over a teaspoon of sauce in it. Maybe this place was better in the past. It is the worst Peruvian food we have ever had. There, I said it. I don't like putting down a restaurant like this because I am all for having your own business, but I am all for doing a good job with your business. When we choose to go somewhere new on a rare date by ourselves (we have a 4 month old) and we hear the microwave beeping constantly and wish we would have cooked at home instead (I make lomo saltado myself all the time!) it was a waste of our time. Everyone mentions the fish portrait gallery across El Buzo's walls. We didn't have fish and low and behold, maybe it is what they are best at. We'll never know. P.S. You know what Gordon Ramsay says about chefs who spend a lot of time decorating the plate with sprinklings of herbs and leaves...

We visited with our kids on a Friday night and the staff was very friendly, the food was great, and the Ceviche Mixto was phenomenal! We had an opportunity to see the owner and his photo album and he really knows a lot about catching, preparing & serving the freshest quality fish (& authentic home-made Peruvian meat & vegetable dishes too)

  • Tina F.

The place is small.. We walked in, ordered at the counter and then sat down, where they brought our food.. The sodas are brought in cans.. My son enjoyed the Chicken Milanase dish.. basically fried breaded chicken.. The owner does a lot of fishing and has plenty of pictures to share with you if you are interested. Based on that, I was looking forward to the fresh tasting fish assuming he knows his fish.. My assumptions served me well because the fish in the Ceviche was very fresh.. good portion size and delicious!!

The man knows how to cook. The problem is he isn't setup for cooking in a restaurant. The food will taste amazing, but the dishes will come out one at a time with a long delay between deliveries. If you are a large party, that is a serious problem, but it is difficult to not like the restaurant. For starters, the owner is so damn sweet and his intention to serve fresh, high quality food admirable. I think if you go in groups of two and/or order dishes that everyone at the table can share, then the speed in which the food is prepared won't be as much as a problem. For larger groups, I think you might want to call your orders in early. My advice to the restaurant, pay someone to put your menu up on the web. Invest in some heaters and hirer someone devoted to helping the chef prepare the food. I know all that costs money, but you have something with the food. You can see it in the fact that your rating is so high and yet your service (in terms of speed) is atrocious. Also, adding bread to the service would cut down on the sting of the wait. The popcorn kernels aren't really doing it. What to order: 1. To die for fried rice 2. Ceviche if you like that sort of things

I went several years ago with my girlfriend and loved it. Honestly, I cannot remember what we ordered but I can tell you that I will definitely be going back once I'm in the area again.

One of the best restaurants I have been to not to mention some of the best seafood I have ever eaten. Throw in that it is prepared in a Peruvian way and bonus. The food is amazing, the service is great and friendly and prices are more than affordable. Great meal for two for under thirty dollars and the meal included ceviche and mussels. It tastes like everything is caught that day. Check this place out.

  • Toni M.

Small mom and pop place. Not many tables so I dont suggest for large groups. Very casual. all items on the menu sound delicious! Had the ceviche... excellent and good portion, enough to share. The Peruvian Causa.... I can eat all day long! too small of a portion Lomo saltado was good but still too small of a portion. Service was a bit slow but they cook everything fresh and you can see them making some of the items.

  • Greg C.

Quiet and unassuming, this restaurant is a real find. Extremely fresh fish, and genuine Peruvian cuisine. If this place was in a better location, it would have huge lines, but instead, it's a hidden gem. The name is Spanish for "The Diver" and I suspect the fish might be caught by the owner with a spear. Ask to see their photo album!

    (5)
  • Wes H.

Let me just say.... amazing! The owners are super nice, the man has pictures of all the fish he has caught throughout the world. It is a small cozy place and the food is prepared right infront of you. The ceviche (tiradito) is really really good. I recommend the tri colored one it comes with a yellow and orange pepper sauce on each side. It has a beautiful presentation and the flavors really pop. So fresh!!! The fish is grouper he gets from Miami, this guy knows his fish and knows how to cook!. The shortbread cookie deserts are really delicious aswell. Every dish I've tried there has been great, you wont be dissapointed!!

  • David C.

No. Hell no. Stay away, unless perhaps you are a drunken Peruvian. Ceviche is not just cheap, raw fish soaked in lime juice. Funky corn species are not a substitute for entrée quality. Any true Peruvian would build a raft, name it Kon-Tiki, and sail away to Polynesia before eating here.

This restaurant is a GEM! It is very casual, and the servers were very friendly. We're definitely going back. I would have never found this place on my own. It's located in a nondescript section of a big plaza in Seminole County. I must have driven by it 100 times and never noticed it. The only reason we (my wife and I and some friends) went there was because the reviews I read here on Yelp were so positive. This place is considered a Peruvian style restaurant, - I'd even go as far as to say that it's more like a Peruvian "seafood" restaurant because the seafood is really fresh! I am so happy that I found this place. The food was very good, and the prices were relatively low considering the portion sizes. The owner is the chef, and he was there doing all the cooking. Everything was delicious, but by far the best thing we had was the ceviche. They have many different kinds of ceviche on the menu, and the one we chose was the first one on the list ($19.95) called Ceviche Buzo, and it was amazing! It was made with a generous amount of grouper, shrimp and calamari in a lime/ceviche sauce. The dish was easily big enough for two people to share. My wife and I are going back just for that dish! We had various appetizers and dessert, and all of them were really good. As long as you like trying new kinds of food, and you like ceviche, then you really gotta try this little amazing place.

Let me start by saying, I've had my share of food in Orlando, everything from Oblivion Taproom to Emeril's, and everything in between. This food was INCREDIBLE! And once you realize all he has to cook with behind the bar is a microwave, a few electric skillets, and a deep fry machine, the impression the food leaves is all the more amazing. My husband and I took a chance with all the great reviews to try this mom and pop place, and we were not disappointed! Yes, the wait is a little long between dishes, but please do not mistake this for a boring evening! We spent an hour and a half with two of the sweetest people in the world, hearing stories about how the owner spent his youth spear fishing and deep sea diving in South America (in fact, he was crowned the top deep sea diver in South America!) and looking at some impressive pictures of the numerous fish he'd caught over his lifetime, and chatting with the sweet mom to the mom and pop, who gladly took everything we ordered with a smile and a little comment on what was good on the menu (hint: everything!). We started with an order of Tiradito Tricolor, which is something I probably wouldn't order again, but that's because I'm not a fan of ceviche-like dishes. However, for what it was, it was incredible! As I said, I don't like ceviche normally, but between the two of us, we ate it all, and happily. The two colored sauces they served with the fish were certainly amazing, and the yellow one I would eat just on its own! We got Tamal next, with pork, which I devoured by myself since my husband does not enjoy corn dishes. But, the toast it comes with is so incredibly soft inside that he did end up stealing half of that! The tamal itself was flavorful and had olives (I think?) and roasted peppers inside like little treasures. The onion slaw on the side was perfectly seasoned and sweet to counter the savory pork. Our main course, Lomo Saltado, was a favorite for my husband, and my first time trying it. In his words, "That was the best lomo saltado I have ever eaten, ever!" And boy, he's had a lot of it. I had to fight him for the french fries, which were perfectly soaked with the juice running from the all-too-tender steak. I think there might have been a single lonely grain of rice when we finished, and that was only because licking the plate is usually frowned on in restaurants! I finished my dinner with flan, which unlike most places I had it, was served with a chocolate sauce drizzled on top. Needless to say, much like everything else, this was perfection. Moist, creamy, and not the least gritty or even chewy. It melted in your mouth and was sweet but not too sweet, the ideal ending to a fabulous meal. And the price was under $40 for everything, including two drinks! Anyone wanting a relaxing night out, who won't be too uptight about waiting longer than the five minute drive through will not be disappointed in this hidden gem!

When I moved to Orlando from NYC this was my first Peruvian restaurant I tried out. Can I say? It hit the spot. It was delicious. On the weekends my hubby will drive there just to get the soup which is called aguadito. It was sooo good. At the time (July 2011) the place needed some renovation. Now that we moved again, but this time Charlotte, NC we deiced to stop over the summer. Wow they sure did some renovations. It sure looks a lot better then before. The food was still good and the same owners. We all had different plates. My kids had Arroz Chaufa and we had Lomo Saltado. The Chicha tasted a little different, but good. I will always stop there if I'm in Orlando.

Excellent food. I stopped by for lunch one Friday and was helped trough the menu personally by the owners. As a non Spanish speaker I enjoyed the large picture menu on the wall in the dining room which helped me visualized what I was ordering. The grouper and rice was great and I washed it down with their purple Chicha. Good price point and tasty food.

I cannot recommend this place enough. Seriously. It's fantastic. My family is Peruvian, so I have been looking for a good, authentic Peruvian restaurant in Orlando for a while. I stumbled upon El Buzo ('stumbled'= Looked on Yelp) and am a total believer. When I recommend it to friends I always start by explaining that this is not a restaurant to visit when you're in a hurry. But the wait is absolutely worth it since the owner is cooking every dish to order. The dishes don't come out all at once, but rather as they are prepared, so be ready to share and try everyone's dish. Lomo Saltado = Strips of beef steak. Onions. Tomatoes. French fries. I cannot express how mindblowing this popular Peruvian dish is and El Buzo does not disappoint! It was as good as the best Lomo Saltado I've had in Lima (ew- travel brag). The best part though was that the owner heard that we had a vegan in our party and he created a meat-free version of the dish for her on the spot. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that she has never made so many awkwardly pleased noises while eating in her life. It was as tasty as the original and gave her a chance to try a dish she's been hearing about for ages. Don't be turned off by the strip mall that houses this little local gem- it's definitely worth a try!

Excelent! I love Peruvian cuisine and I have it every chance I get. What makes this particular place 5 star worthy is the absolutely amazing staff. Great food, like always. I love fish ceviche and I would recommend it if you visit. If you're in the area don't pass it up, enjoy great food served by great people.

INDESCRIBABLE! That is the ONLY way to describe the shrimp Ceviche. Having El Buzo in my neighborhood is a huge blessing. The staff and owner couldn't be more genuine. And only if I could use profanity would I even attempt to describe the shrimp Ceviche!

Great experience!!!! Such great, attentive service and amaaazing food!!! Fresh seafood, clean place. Everything was delicious and the service was impecable! Had the ceviche Buzo, papa a la huancaina, and the seafood chaufa. You won't regret stopping by.

This unassuming restaurant is in a strip mall with Big Lots and a Dollar Tree. Don't let that fool you. This restaurant serves first class Peruvian food. This time we tried the Causa which is a cold dish consisting of shrimp salad rolled into a potato purée. I know it sounds strange but it is amazing! We also had the Choritos a la Chalaca, which are beautiful large mussels on a half shell with a mixture of tomatoes, lime, onions and spices. So fresh tasting! The Tiradito tricolor is raw marinated fish with three different sauces. Amazing! We finished with the Bavarois which is a nursery type of dessert with a soft meringue, prunes and caramel sauce. So good... All in all a fantastic and very satisfying meal.

WOW! my palate is in heaven! The care and quality of food the owner gives is just incredible. I got to try the tiradito, the cauza (i believe its called) with shrimp, the cilantro soup and the moradito (a drink made of purple corn). I seriously, from the bottom of my heart, cant tell you which one was better than the other. They were all well prepared with great seasoning and exquisite taste. If you love seafood, this is the palce to go. The owner/cook is a spearfisher that shows you pictures of all the fish he himself has caught over the years. Its a great conversation starter and kind of funny cause if his wife is around theyll usually start arguiing in spanish (almost like an italian family) and it gets really funny (not annoying or scary). Greatly recomend it for a chilled, adventurous date. The place is less than fancy so shorts and a tshirt is ok. Till this day i still crave this food!

Thanks to Lunch Box Crew for bringing this restaurant to my attention. El Buzo is a Peruvian Restaurant in the Market Square Shopping Center behind Smokey Bones on the Northeast corner of Howell Branch and 436. They serve authentic Peruvian beef, chicken and seafood dishes. I was able to try two different dinner plates, the Lomo Saltado "Mar y Tierra" and the Asado al Vino. Lomo Saltado is the national dish of Peru and any self respective Peruvian restaurant serves it. It consists of lean strips of beef cooked with onions, tomatoes over french fries and rice. In the case of the "Mar y Tierre" it means Sea and Earth so it also includes fresh shrimp. At El Buzo they add their own special touch of sauces on the side, one a tangy mayo sauce and another spicier paste made from herbs including basil. This dish had good flavors and the beef was tender and onions were still crisp. I really liked the herb sauce. The second dish was the Asado al Vino. Roasted beef marinated in wine served with rice and yellow mashed potatoes. This was fine but not unlike american pot roast. This would be a great dish to serve to a dinner companion who hasn't had Peruvian food before and is not very adventurous. They also specialize in all types of Ceviche, citrus marinated shrimp, fish and squid. The owner and Chef Bruno a great cook & an avid spear fisherman and has won an American Spearfishing Championship. El Buzo means "The Diver". He has a couple spearguns hanging on the wall and lots of great photo albums of his spearfishing conquests on the counter. Also in the albums are photos of many of their dishes, very well presented. For dessert I had the Alfadores cookies, which were crumbly type sugar cookies filled with nutella, very tasty! They don't have a large sign so just look for the place with two umbrellas 1436 State Road 436, Suite 1024 Casselberry FL 32707 407-673-0237 Hours: Mon-Sat noon-9:30pm Sunday noon-close?

WOW! If you enjoy Peruvian food or just innovative fresh fish served in an unpretentious setting, you must visit El Buso. Located in a strip center on SR 436 you'd never expect to find this fine freshness in this location, but once you walk in & see all the photos of the owner/chef with his many fresh catches, you might begin to understand what's in store. The server is probably a family member, very friendly; start with Chica Morada, a delicious non alcoholic purple corn based drink that can be served by the pitcher for your group, but beer & wine is avaliable. Everything on the menu has appetizer potential depending on the size of your party, but you MUST try the Causa!! Traditionally prepared with shrimp, the wonderfully accommodating staff offered to make it with chicken for our shellfish allergic guest. Somehow, the chef manages to make a jelly roll from golden potatoes & shrimp (or chicken) w/ a mild sweet pepper sauce that will absolutely amaze. Then try any of the Ceviches, so complex & delicious! Or just ask about any dishes containing fresh fish of the day. The staff will accommodate special requests, so ask for suggestions. Our shellfish sensitive guest had chicken with a wonderful mild pepper based sauce that was super, almost like bernaise, but lighter. Driving by you'd never find this place, but seek it out & plan to enjoy the fresh seafood, chicken & great people that serve it. One of our Top Ten restaurants in Central Florida!!!

I discoverd this place by going to the Big Lots off 436 and Howell Branch road witch is the same place were this Peruvian restaurant is located. The place is small but when I went there was only one other person eating there, the food is basically Peruvian with lots of sea food. I had fish breaded with a small salad and french fries on the side and everything was delicious and made fresh witch even though it took them a while to bring us our food it was worth the wait.To start as an appetizer I had boiled corn with salt ad it was good also with my dinner I had a purple drink famous in Peru and it was also very good and tasted great. The service was good but the lady did not speak spanish in a Peruvian restaurant also the place is small but you can tell the owner and chef knows what he is doing, the presentation of the food is very good(posted pictures)and the prices are moderate. I will come back again and try the "seviche" next time even though it cost $18.00. Note:NO AC inside but when I went it was not hot or during the summer so they keep there doors open.

I've had great Peruvian food in NY and since my move to Fl had been looking for decent Peruvian food in Orlando and came across el Buzo. I found this place to be great, i have tried the lomo and pollo saltado and the ceviche were all great. The wait staff is friendly and accommodating. My only issue was i wish they would give more hot sauce. Other than that food was great.

I was not impressed. The food was not that fresh and not that great. I am not sure if I went on a bad day at lunch, or if I ordered the wrong thing. I think the recent reviews should be weighted heavier than ones from 2 years ago... Maybe things have changed. Anyway... I won't be going back.

Love everything about this place!!!very mom and pop shop feel...I usually get the pollo saltado...which is AMAZING!!!only thing I would recommend would be to have more of a variety with their dishes...

3.5 for my first Peruvian food experience. First, the waitstaff is fantastic. She was knowledgable and ready for recommendations for the varied palates at our table. The ceviches were AH-mazing! I had a grilled fish entree that was so good. Only drawbacks were few paleo options and limited drinks.
