Had a great shrimp basket at The Fishermans Wife tonight. The shrimp was fresh and the cheese grits and hush puppies were great. You can see the river from the restaurant and the staff was friendly. I had the chance the speak with the owner and she was very nice and accommodating. I hope to eat here again soon and highly recommend the seafood!!

Our meal here was outstanding. We ordered several combination plates and shared everything. We had ribeye steak, fried oysters, and grilled shrimp with slaw, French fries and cheese grits as sides. Everything was excellent, except the oysters, which were superlative. They were large, juicy and they had been perfectly cooked and seasoned. Our service was friendly and very good. The place is small with only a few tables, so you do get well taken care of.

Had the shrimp platter and the shrimp were good. The issues I had with the place was the food took a long time to come out and when it did the fries and cheese grits were cold. Read many great reviews and was hoping it was better. Must not have been a good night for the wife.

Sometime it's better to be lucky than good, we found this place and immediately knew this place was going to be something special. Trust me if you're feeling the hunger pains and you're within an hour of this place "do not stop and eat" until you get here. We stopped in after reading the reviews and knowing the choices in the area were somewhat limited so we decided to see just what the fuss was all about. Now it was around 4:00 PM so timing is everything most of the time in these small towns when a restaurant is serving up this kind of food it can get very busy around supper time, even at this time of the afternoon on a Saturday this small venue was about half filled. As we walked through the door the friendly staff greeted us like we were long time friends and regular customers and locals they see everyday. This older style house converted into a restaurant is pretty causal but the food is amazing, rest assure the food service provider doesn't do much business here. This food is prepared from scratch and the recipes are probably very old and are definitely proven. We each ordered the seafood combination plates with two choices of seafood each and sides, clearly we had no idea of the portion size because we had more food than two people could ever eat. Although I ordered the Shrimp and Crab Cakes and my lovely companion order the Shrimp and Grouper we shared so we could both experiences a wider variety. The fresh caught local jumbo shrimp were lightly battered and fried in fresh oil until they were perfectly cooked and still so tender I could make a meal with just these. The Crab Cakes come either fried or sauté I chose the fried upon the recommendation of our server (she provided exceptional service from the moment we met). The hand formed crab cakes were filled with fresh crab and a variety of seasonings drenched in crumbs and fried until the outer crust was crispy. The grouper fillets were also lightly battered and fried and unless you've experience fresh caught grouper any of my descriptions of this locally caught fish won't do it justice so you'll have to try it out for yourself. Each platter came with home-made hush puppies, cheese grits a choice of potatoes ( I had the hand sliced grilled potatoes and these were to die for). I also had a dish of the cole-slaw to balance it all out it was fresh and light and very tasty even the ice cold iced tea was wonderful really I'm not kidding everything was excellent. Finally we finished our meal with food left on our plates unfortunately and then we remembered as we were parking we noticed a gentleman walking up to the restaurant carrying a pie, our server offered a selection of desserts and we never even consider taking another bite of anything but we were curious about the man with the pie. She informed us that he was the "fisherman" and that he was the one that baked their infamous "derby pie" and it was still warm from the oven. Well I wasn't really familiar with derby pie but after only hearing a brief description I was bound and determined to taste it. For me a pie is mostly about the crust and this pie was sitting in a master piece of a crust it was the perfect platform for a real southern pecan pie with chocolate chips folded in and they were still melted and gooey. If you take only one thing away from this review its "save room for the derby pie". Definitely a place we'll return to and the prices were sinfully low what a find.

Better than expected. Was craving real fried shrimp and the Wife delivered. Beware, the platter is enough for two.

Had lunch here last week as the reviews looked good. If you are not going for fried seafood you may want to go elsewhere. Ordered the fisherman's wife salad - expecting this to be enough for a lunch meal at $8. The salad arrived and I asked if they made a mistake and brought me side salad. Waitress took it back to kitchen and was told to tell us that the ingredients were expensive and it was the correct size. I have picture we took after 2 bites that shows about 1/2 a salad in the bowl and will try to post that on this site. Surprised that the owner or manager would not come out and talk to us as it was 2 in the afternoon and slow in the restaurant. Would not go there again. Husband had the fried sandwich and it was as expected, nothing fancy but as expected.

Very Good casual seafood. The shrimp is so good I jumped up from the table and did the happy shrimp dance! It's a favorite restaurant for the locals. And everybody was very friendly!

Its a friendly place. The service was pretty fast. My grilled shrimps were delicious and local. They had no local fish available. They were waiting for a group of 15 which is apparently a reason to not have onion rings. So I didn't get to try those. They were out of key lime pie. It was kind of a lot to be out of.v

Came down here on Black Friday with the family. Wasn't very busy. We all had shrimp. They were very fresh and very good. The smoked mullet dip they brought out with crackers was very good. The staff was extremely friendly. They gave us our fried green tomatoes for free after they were only slightly overlooked, without us mentioning it. Highly recommended.

I expected the shrimp and fish to be fresh and great, and they were. A real pleasure to eat tender local shrimp, and not the imports too many restaurants serve. But I was really surprised by the great hush puppies, homemade coleslaw, and grits. All were really, really good. The hush puppies were light but crisp, and the slaw was crunchy. We also had a fried grouper basket and that was great too. Hate to say it, but some of the popular Apalachicola restaurants need to take some cooking lessons from The Fisherman's Wife. The whole meal was a good value for quality local seafood.

So, we went to the Fisherman's wife in Carabelle for dinner. I have to say the food is incredible, but the service is so horrifically terrible that it negates the deliciousness. First off, they brought our appetizer with our meal (that we waited over 30 minutes for), then they got upset that we didn't want the appetizer anymore, so the waitress literally never came back by throughout our entire meal. Every time she walked by, I looked at her, and she deliberately refused to make eye contact with me. She has spent plenty of time talking to all the regulars, who are no doubt locals. I will never ever darken the door of this place again. In fact, I will shake their dust from my shoes as I leave.

Just had a great lunch at The Fisherman's Wife. Good was delicious & the service was excellent. The baskets were super yummy. They had oysters available today & the fried oysters were the best we'd ever had. We'd also ordered the shrimp basket & the Cajun shrimp appetizer. The peel & eat shrimp hadn't been soaked, so they were hard to peel. The server & cook were great about it, they apologized profusely & asked us if we wanted something else (several times). We'd definitely go back & recommend a stop by there for great seafood.

Best shrimp I ever had. I travel a lot and eat a lot of seafood. They actually catch their own shrimp and it is as fresh as you can get.

The food was OK, but they were out of oysters. It took about 45 minutes to get food. This place is only OK.

After a day at the beach, myself and a group of friends stopped by this place for dinner. Get the shrimp!!!! It's absolutely incredible. They have their own shrimp boats so it's completely fresh! Definitely worth stopping by and having a nice meal with close friends! :)

I would almost give this place 4 stars because the staff was so ultra friendly. We went a bit late for lunch 130 or so. There were 3 other tables with people so that made me wonder a bit. Drinks are served in styrofoam cups which for me is a no no in anything but fast food. The tea however was nice and fresh which is unusual for unsweetened tea. I ordered the large Greek salad with the grilled shrimp on the side. The salad came out looking amazing so fresh and colorful. A lot of feta which I am a fan of. No potato salad which was great because I don't like that. The tomatoes were a fist sized tomato quartered. I ate one quarter it was so awkward. The lettuce pieces were huge. Unmanageable. The dressing was fine. Bottled I'm positive. The shrimp was really weird. It had some kind of yellow coating. Very odd on a grilled shrimp. I think it might have been a. butter flavored oil. Gross. I used my kids tarter sauce and then it was fine. My kid got the oyster poboy which came with nothing and was so bulky that he had to eat it separately. Oysters first. He liked it. My daughter got a grilled cheese and cheese grits as she is a vegetarian. It was a tiny meal even though it was on the adult menu. I swear 1/4 cup of grits. She was starving. The last daughter, a vegan, ordered fries and onion rings. She liked both. The onion rings looked pretty good, a bit floppy for my taste and she didn't even make a dent in them. Probably the deal of the day. With a tip it was a bit pricey for what we got. I want to say again, the staff was very friendly and attentive.

The best oysters I had in a very long time. Shrimp were great and very fresh. The service was good. Only downside was the up charge from the menu prices.

My husband and I were taking a little day trip from our St George Island, Fl vacation spot and just happened to try this restaurant. The fried shrimp were the best I have ever eaten anywhere! They were very fresh, lightly battered and crispy. My husband ordered the fried oysters and they were also quite excellent. The sides of grits, slaw, and fries nicely complimented the entrees and the key lime pie was yummy and homemade. This was a very friendly, charming restaurant. A+

Had lunch with a group of 6. Facility was very clean, neat & orderly with fresh paint & new carpet. Entrees, all baskets, were served hot. The crab cakes were too salty but fries & slaw were tasty and the hushpuppies were EXCELLENT! My fried shrimp were large and not overcooked, tarter sauce was a great pairing. Blackened shrimp were "the best I've ever had" reported one diner in our party. Portions were reasonable in size and all baskets included cheese grits. No one left hungry. A definite re-visit on our next visit to Carabelle!

Friendly staff, small. Food was decent, but nothing special. Ok for one night, since there are not many choices in Carrabelle.

We have been here twice within a week because we enjoyed the first visit so much, We will go back more during our month stay in the area. The hush puppies are the best I've ever tasted. They have their own shrimp boats so the shrimp is fresh and outstanding. Don't miss this place if you want a great meal for a reasonable price.

Fisherman's Wife has really good food and they give you a large portion. We had the Chicken Quesadillas, which were excellent. The settings are very casual. We had a meeting there in a separate room. They were able to accommodate our large group with quick service, and the food was nice and hot when delivered to the table. The owners, two ladies who work together, are usually there working along with the servers and doing a lot of the chores themselves. They have take out and their prices are very reasonable.
