This restaurant is so beautiful especially for dinner when it is all lite up! The food is beyond delicious and our service was fantastic! A little pricey but completely worth it!!! I definitely recommend this place for an amazing dinner!!

We wanted to visit this restaurant after reading about it's history. We dined on escargot, spring rolls, lobster, pasta, duck, etc. Everything was delicious and the service was great. We really enjoyed the piano player as well. Overall a great experience, would definitely recommend!

The setting is gracious and relaxing w charm n white table cloths and table lamps. Full bar available and a limited wine list. Piano player will ripple out show tunes that are familiar w a slightly heavy hand. Menu has the full range of options incl veal chop, duck breast, lobster ravioli, seafood and steaks. We chose duck n veal. We loved the presentation and accompaniment and felt the chef missed the five stars not on the capability skill but on a little commented item. Sometimes a veal chop comes from a five star hoof or three star hoof. Same w duck. The provisioned meat source needs to upgrade itself to match the cost of meal. We like the two sizes of plate servings and the service is attentive. Don't let them rush u. We used our 20% saving coupon from castaway hotel down road n now affiliated w tween waters. We had an expresso n nightcap w a lovely chocolate bonbon.

Great food, pricey but worth it. Servers are not that professional for the prices charged I expected more and was dissapointed. Like the fact that we didnt have to drive as we stayed in Tween Waters resort and this restaurant is within walking distance.

Delicious food presented in a very appealing manner. A little pricey but very delicious and worth it if you are celebrating a special occasion and looking for something different from the come as you are, flip flops, experience in Captiva. The sunset views boasted in the restaurant's website are extremely hard to come by as there are only a few small tables up in the front of the restaurant and the view from the rest of the rather long room is virtually non-existent. We tried the escargot which were absolutely delicious and the pompano piccata which was very tasty but collided somewhat with the risotto it was served over.

Very nice menu that is executed well. The one oddity is how little local seafood they had. Instead, dishes such as a Cowboy steak and Salmon dominate a majority of the menu. I stuck with the one local seafood dish on the menu and it was fantastic! Good service as well. I would not call the atmosphere kid friendly, but they have a good kid's menu and were nice to my children. I would go back.

My parents just bought a condo in fort Myers and on a recent visit we drove out to captiva to have dinner at the Old Captiva House. I loved every part of it. Drinks were tasty, and water was refilled often. Dinner was not overwhelming where portions were concerned but they were delicious (we had a crab bisque, the watermelon and goat cheese salad, the Gorgonzola steak salad and the lobster ravioli ~ all were wonderful). Service was attentive and helpful. The sunset and ambiance were unrivaled. Lastly, the gentleman playing a musical theatre medley on the piano was amazing. I decided based on that I need to change my career goals to be able to afford someone playing piano at all of my meals! It's not cheap, but not overly expensive either. You get what you pay for ~ and it was worth it!

Delightful and accommodating with a chef dominated menu that is both delicious and nicely presented. Seafood is the mainstay, but they offer an array including vegetarian/vegan and meat offerings as well. Our party was pretty much half steak, half seafood with 1 vegan option. Most surprising was the quality of the food and the presentation. I figured that it would be a high price like many of the other restaurants over the causeway. We were stunned at the presentation, as good as any top restaurant. The food melted in our mouths. Now we can hardly wait to get back to this surprisingly wonderful spot.

We didn't stay at Tween Waters but went for a special occasion dinner. The food and drinks were expensive and unremarkable. The service was less than adequate for an expensive restaurant. The waiter was pleasant enough but knew practically nothing about the menu and had to run back and forth to answer pretty basic questions. The worst part was the lame crab races in the bar. This should have been a fun activity. Instead, the presenter was crude and rude. He turned an overprices, barely adequate dinner into a really unpleasant evening. Don't go here!

Genre for rating: American upscale As a long time staple for fine dining on Captiva, I would have expected more. Creative Florida cuisine, but flavors were unimpressive. The Old Captiva House will stand out due to the lack of fine dining opportunities on Captiva, but it will fail to hit a home run. The vibe is actually quite creepy. Eg: walked in on a random Sept evening and the hostess snarled and asked us if we had a reservation...while I peered around the corner to see two patrons dining. What I had: tuna appetizer, grouper Best bet: when you have to have fine dining on Captiva, drinks and an app if you must.

Horrible service, food, and atmosphere! We were staying at the resort, which I do not recommend ( that's a whole other review). We were told when we walked into the completely empty restaurant that we needed reservations by an unfriendly older lady at the entrance. So we went to the hostess station and nobody was there. We waited and waited.... Finally we asked the lady at the entrance if we could be seated. She rudely told us we had to wait for the hostess. My bad, I thought they were suppose to be waiting on us. Finally the most unfriendly stuck up woman came and sat us down. She never sparked a conversation or asked us if we wanted drinks, much less give us a wine menu like she did the 2 couples that came after us. Finally we received service from our waiter who was decent. We started with the Brie appetizer and the entire sliced apple they served with it was brown and rotten!! How did it even get out of the kitchen from a "fine dining" restaurant. We told the waiter and he said "oh ok.,," and that was it. I ordered the scallop dinner special and was sick in the bathroom all night! The restaurant was just as unkempt and unclean as their accommodations.

Beautiful Sunset and Amazing Food! We came here for dinner in Sept with the Family. We were a party of 10 with two small children and they were able to accommodate us perfectly. The food was phenomenal. The service was great and the restaurant is beautiful. I suggest getting there before sunset cause the view of the sunset is BEAUTIFUL!

I have been to the Old Captiva House a couple times and have really enjoyed my meal. The baked brie appetizer is good and unique. For dinner I order the filet mignon and it is tasty and cooked to order. The service is always spot on and very attentive. They also have a piano player playing beautiful music in the background. The music gives the restaurant a really nice vibe. For dessert, I had what was supposed to be a lava cake but was pretty much cooked all the way though, so there wasn't so much "lava." Also, make sure you check the sunset time before making your reservation because the beach in front of the restaurant is the perfect place to catch the sunset. The parking situation is kind of a mess here, so make sure you were shoes that you can walk a bit in over stones, cobblestone, sandy dirt and maybe uphill (this tip is mainly for the ladies.) I have been here a couple times and would definitely come back - it's a nice restaurant.
