Apalachee Restaurant

Stopped into this place for breakfast on my return visit from Panama City. Small town feel and friendly people made for great morning, even better the food was pretty good. Hashbrowns are a must, as well as pancake. Prices are decent as well. I'll definitely drop in again when I'm out that way.
Homemade southern comfort food. I had the Sunday buffet with all the comfort food favorites. Enjoyed listening to the locals talk. I got some tips on capenter bee control, allergy remedies, and gardening. Need an excuse to come back to Bristol.
For the being the only restaurant in town, sorry they need to step it up. We got the $7.99 lunch buffet which consisted of fried chicken, green beans, salad bar. I really, really wanted to like this place! Country cooking setting, older decor. They reviews seemed good! We sat at a booth with our toddler for lunch. Kids eat for a $1 at the buffet which seemed like such a great deal! Well... The salad was all starting to turn brown on the salad bar, many flies around the food on the buffet, carpet really needed to be vacuumed. And the place really needed to have the air turned on. It was 90 degrees outside so it was very stuffy. In the very least the ceiling fans could have been turned on. On the positive side the fried chicken was really good! Only plus I can think of. I am thinking if they had one more server on staff at the time he place could have been vacuumed and the five dirty tables would have been wiped down. Just disappointing. Our server was an older nice lady who couldn't have been any sweeter. We stayed about five minutes. Paid and left. Our toddler drank some sweet tea and ate some crackers. Definitely will not be returning. :/
