Hey, cannot beat a $4 burger! Nicely ground and with large pickles. We loved it! 50's feel indoors, kindest and happiest waitress, and we ended our meal with a great milkshake. $20 later, a quick meal for two in an A/C'ed place...perfect!!

I do enjoy going to Steak n Shake now and then. This was the first time I've been to this location and was dissapointed. It took me 37 minutes from pulling into the drive thru until I got my food, and there were only three cars in front of me. I ordered a combo that was priced at $5.99 and my total came to $7.83 which I knew wasn't right. I asked at the window why it was that and got a response that was "That's what your order adds up to." Like, oh thanks, didn't realize that. Since it was only a couple bucks more and it had already taken so long that I didn't bother any further. After looking at my receipt I see that the worker had rang it up as a sandwich, separate fries, and separate drink which made that $7.83, instead of as the combo. Not too big of a deal, just annoying. My fries were about half filled as well.

My husband and I used to go here every 1st of the month like clockwork! This morning we walked in and asked to be seated, I politely asked for a table, she didn't hear me because she was to busy talking to the other table. She finally heard me and said oh I can't seat you there because that area is closed. I said im sorry but we really need a table ( i broke down and said we are to freaking FAT to sit in a booth) I left crying. Both my husband and I are heavy and (are on a diet so were trying to change) but still cant comfortably sit in a booth. The woman threw my attitude so I said you just lost service and I walked out in tears, absolutely embarrassed! Like I said we go there once every month and never had this problem we always was able to be sat at a table without our explanation as to why we needed one. My husband went in to talk to the manager and the woman came up and started giving my husband AND her manager attitude. The manager was great and handled it well, asking her to take a break, he also gave us free meal tickets, and offered to buy us dinner, but I was to humiliated to go back in there to eat! While we were at Denny's this couple over heard us talking about our experience there and said they will NEVER go back to steak and shake because that was plain rude what they did to us. They also said they will tell all there friends about the treatment we got and assured us that as soon as their friends heard it they too would not want to dine in this "fine establishment" I told them I did not want "steak and shake" to loose service persay, I just want the woman to learn how to treat her guests!

Every once in awhile, you come across a restaurant that you've been to many times, and suddenly realize you have no idea why! Today, our trip to Steak and Shake was one of those times. The clearly written order was not properly understood by the kitchen, so my son's side dish was not served with the meals. It was served very quickly after, but cold, congealed, and tasteless... you can see in the pictures! Their advertising half price happy hour on all drinks runs from 2 to 5 AM or PM. It was always every day. Since they added an hour and its from 2 to 5, instead of 2 to 4, it is now only Monday through Friday! There is a tiny sign on the door as you walk in that does say weekdays, but who's looking at this sign when they're sitting at the table ordering, or during their meal. Not me! When I ordered two milkshakes, because the waitress came to my table 3 times before my son exited the bathroom trying to take my order, she may have wanted to mention that though it was happy hour time, happy hour does not exist on the weekends. She did not! When I brought this to her attention, after receiving the check, she simply stated, that's only Monday thru Friday. She did not offer an apology, or an explanation as to why it is not clearly marked on the menu or anywhere else inside the restaurant. As I look at her, in her uniform, a bit more closely... I see she's even wearing a button advertising happy hour is from 2 to 5, EVEN the button does not specify Monday through Friday only! Why is she even wearing it on a Saturday night? Well we went in for the kids eat free all weekend special, which we received, so for one adult the check came to over $16 for a burger, onion rings, and 2 milkshakes! I am thoroughly disappointed at the quality of the food, my burger had wilted lettuce, a terrible looking piece of tomato, and nothing on the table but ketchup. When I asked for a side of mayo, I got a tiny cup of Miracle Whip... And that's when I gave up trying to make the mess of a meal even work! I told the waitress I was working on a Yelp review, and ate my onion rings & drank the 1/2 of my milkshake I could... I continued to take pictures, and even discussed our dissatisfaction with the quality of food with my son loud enough for the staff at the counter to easily here. So she asked me several times if there was anything else I needed, but she never once asked me once if I was satisfied with the meal I received, or seem to care that I was working on a lengthy review on social media about the restaurant! That in and of itself completely shocked me. She was definitely young enough to be internet savvy, as I could see a smartphone peeking out of her waitress apron pocket. How could she not realize if I was satisfied, I would not have spent the entire time I should have been eating...working on a review about the restaurant. I chatted up my waitress, as I was paying the check, apologetically explaining to her that all I had was a $20 bill and thought that my milkshakes would be $4.00 instead of $8.00, so her tip was going to be partially in change. She did mention it to someone at the counter, as she paid the check, that I thought happy hour was every day, because it used to be! But that didn't cause a manager to apologize for the confusion, explain why it was not properly notated anywhere like on the menu, on the table, or anywhere else besides the small sign on the front door. All in all, the staff was friendly and more than adequate. The food, however, especially for the overpriced milkshake that was undrinkable halfway through because all of the hot fudge was sitting at the bottom, was subpar except for the onion rings. Once you got through half the milkshake all you had was a clogged straw full of hot fudge. Definitely not what I expected from a four dollar milkshake! My sons chocolate chip cookie dough milkshake was wonderful, but when I ordered it I was never asked which size I wanted and was automatically brought a very small child size milkshake for $3.00, 1/4 the size of the adults, for $1.00 less! Since it does not come with the meal, the least they could have done was asked me what size I would like! If I do ever decide to go back to this location I will definitely only go if I have coupons, ask questions about all specials before ordering, and will definitely be picking up takeout or hitting the drive thru. All in all my waitress did a great job getting the food out quickly and asking repeatedly if we had everything we needed, but it is not worth having to tip someone for cold subpar food! What happened to Steak and Shake!? I used to love bringing my son to your restaurant! Not so much anymore.

So...Grub Guru crew stopped into this iconic restrauant chain and WTF!!?? Is going on at this location? Never sat...we sat ourselves...another guest at the restaurant brought us menus...the waitress finally came and told us to hurry up and order because she is too busy...WTF??? I love Steak N Shakes, but I walked in and out of this one in less than two minutes. First, the establishment was only moderately busy and we were told to sit anywhere. The only problem was that the open tables were all filled with the remnants of trash from the last diners or not wiped down and stained with remnants from the last people to dine there. Second, I went to use the men's room which had a strong smell of urine, no soap in the dispenser and trash overflowing from the trash can and onto the floor. The place just seemed off. I explained my concerns to the manager and left.

The service is slow 40 minutes to get a drink really. Waitress was friendly but did I mention slow. Buns where stale fries cold. Shake was delicious. Bathroom was atrocious and smelled like it had not been cleaned in weeks, urine as well as other things everywhere. Do not waste your time ever I lost 2 hours of my life I could have spent watching paint dry.

One of the better burger joints around. Food is ALWAYS fresh and it's nice to eat off a plate with a knife and fork. The shakes are fantastic. Happy hour from 2 - 4pm and 2 - 4am for shakes!

I've given this Steak and Shake four chances and the service remains consistently poor will each visit. The service staff seems burden with additional responsibilities that distract them from serving customers. The food is reasonably priced and consistently good though provided you get your order placed. Waiting around for a manager to cash you out at the register is another negative .

The food at Steak-N-Shake is pretty consistent but the service is another story! We stopped here on a Saturday afternoon for lunch specifically because I wanted some cheese fries. To our surprise there was a LONG wait. While this place was quite busy they were empty tables available that had not been cleaned. We noticed that if all the dirty tables were cleaned everyone who was waiting could have been seated (so my husband went to go ask if someone would clean the tables). Shortly after, everyone was seated. After being seated, I noticed that this Steak-N-Steak was filthy. The highchair was gross, the floors were nasty, & there was caked up dust near the windows. But we had waited long enough for my cheese fries, I wasn't going to leave and our server was very professional, apologized for the long wait & she was astonishing polite. Again, the food was good and always! But if your after of a little dirt or in a rush so somewhere else.

Please don't go to this restaurant, you'll thank me later. The floors were filthy, empty tables sat with dirty dishes 10-15 minutes before being cleaned. We waited for about 7 minutes in a half empty restaurant before they "noticed" us and got us a table. The wait staff was running around with their heads cut off and the restaurant was only HALF full! I can't imagine the chaos if the place was full! We had to ask for our sides because the waitress forgot them. Other people around us had their order messed up. The only good thing I have to say is that my burger was moderately tasty, but no better than any other fast-food place. I will not be returning!!

Not even as close to being as good as the one in Sarasota on bee ridge road. The drive thru took twice as long as usual and I only had 2 cars in front of me I think I waited almost 30 minutes to get my food which stunk bc that was my whole lunch break . The service at this one isn't as good as far as drive thru is concerned. I love the food at Steak 'n Shake so hopefully if I try this Location again it will be better.

I rarely rag on a place that we eat at this often, but this was not the best meal we've had here. Arriving at 6:15 and seated promptly it was 10 minutes before our server made an appearance and took our order - both drink and food at the same time since we had had plenty of time to know what we wanted (like we needed that!). But, it was another 10 minutes before we saw our drinks served by a different girl. And then it was 20 minutes more before we received our food. I'm sorry - but this place wasn't that busy that it should take that long to fry up two burgers! And, to complicate the issue more, the burgers were dry and not very warm. Our french fries were not fresh, either, but our server brought out fresh fries promptly. My wife's double steakburger was dry and inedible and we had it removed from the check. It seemed like we must have caught shift change - there were lots of servers but they were also walking out the door so that by the time we left there weren't that many. We'll go back, and we'll hope it gets better - again!

The floors looked like they needed to be pressure washed to get them clean The kids Mac n cheese was so nuked it was stuck together. My husbands burger was ok but the time it took to get it even a terrible burger would taste good. OK burger isn't worth the slow service and filth. Maybe a different location will be cleaner. We will not be going back to this location.

I'm sorry - but this place wasn't that busy that it should take that long to fry up two burgers! And, to complicate the issue more, the burgers were dry and not very warm. Our french fries were not fresh, either, but our server brought out fresh fries promptly. My wife's double steakburger was dry and inedible and we had it removed from the check. It seemed like we must have caught shift change - there were lots of servers but they were also walking out the door so that by the time we left there weren't that many. We'll go back, and we'll hope it gets better - again!

Filthy. Smelled like a mustly washcloth when we walked in Service was slow. Food took forever to come out. The floors looked like they needed to be pressure washed to get them clean The kids Mac n cheese was so nuked it was stuck together. My husbands burger was ok but the time it took to get it even a terrible burger would taste good. OK burger isn't worth the slow service and filth. Maybe a different location will be cleaner. We will not be going back to this location.

Love the shakes, especially during half off times. Mint Oreo is excellent, as is the choc chip cookie dough.
